[0:00]Each of these boats has enough fentanel on it to kill 25,000

[0:05]Americans.

[0:06]That's what you'll hear the White House say repeatedly.

[0:07]These types of narratives are used by governments around the world throughout

[0:12]history to justify their actions.

[0:14]They don't have that moral construct, right?

[0:17]They don't have their rationale, their explanation.

[0:20]If you don't tell US Marines and soldiers that you're invading Iraq

[0:24]to protect the United States from another 9/11, your invasion is not

[0:27]going to succeed.

[0:29]your occupation is going to fall apart very quickly.

[0:29]And the same thing has to occur here for Venezuela.

[0:33]So while most in the United States don't believe this is the

[0:35]case and almost no one around the world believes this story of

[0:42]Venezuela trafficking drugs, killing tens and tens of thousands of Americans because

[0:46]of it.

[0:46]It doesn't matter to the White House.

[0:48]It doesn't matter to the Pentagon or the State Department.

[0:50]>> But you'll have sometimes the Pentagon will kind of quietly try

[0:55]to avoid another long-term conflict.

[0:56]Do you see signs right now that the Pentagon might actually be

[1:00]reluctant about getting involved?

[1:01]>> I think what the Pentagon is looking for in terms of

[1:05]a strategy is something much more akin to what you saw carried

[1:09]out in Libya where the United States would provide air strikes.

[1:12]There would be CIA and special operations forces on the ground, but

[1:16]the bulk of the ground force, the main effort would come from

[1:20]Venezuelan opposition groups.
