[45:40]pleasure for the family to have sheikh mcdeliver tonight lecture [Music] foreign
[46:46]i'd like to share um a few points um regarding something which
[46:52]inshallah we're all involved with and it's something that the quran and
[46:55]the achill bait have constantly instructed us and advised us about it
[47:03]and that is seeking knowledge in some way or the other alhamdulillah
[47:10]all of us are involved in the process of learning when we
[47:15]whether we're reading a book or we're taking part in a course
[47:21]or listening to a series of lecture we're all seekers of knowledge
[47:24]at the end of the day the messenger of allah tells us
[47:30]that you should either be knowledgeable or you should be seeking knowledge
[47:37]these are the two states that you should be in either knowledgeable
[47:41]or seeking knowledge and make sure that you're not among those who
[47:48]are just busy with play and leisure and distracted from the from
[47:52]seeking knowledge of being a knowledgeable person so we realized that the
[48:00]prophet and the alhabeth have this program for us as the believers
[48:03]is to be in the state of seeking knowledge and or being
[48:08]knowledgeable in another hadith we find that ali says that allah truly
[48:20]loves the seekers of knowledge if we are seekers of knowledge at
[48:25]any at any level right even if it's simply sitting at home
[48:28]reading a book or taking part in a very simple course as
[48:31]long as we become seekers of knowledge allah loves us a lot
[48:37]another hadith again the messenger of allah says the person with the
[48:46]most value if you want to try to value people if you
[48:51]want to give people um some sort of level and say okay
[48:54]this one's better than the other one or this one's greater than
[48:56]the other one if you want to say yourself when you have
[49:00]to judge anybody for myself how much is my value the messenger
[49:02]of allah says the value of you of mankind goes back to
[49:06]his knowledge how much he knows interestingly just a few days ago
[49:13]in one of my classes you know sometimes sometimes you know things
[49:16]right but they said in a certain way that it just goes
[49:19]straight to your heart and makes you realize something so those were
[49:23]one of the moments a few days ago in one of my
[49:25]classes um where the teacher said something that really um really went
[49:30]down quite well um the discussion was about religious pluralism and we
[49:34]were talking about um the meaning of proximity to allah as you
[49:38]know one of the arguments that people have in the discussion of
[49:42]religious knowledge is the fact that we are all um close to
[49:46]allah and so all religions will ultimately take us close to allah
[49:51]now put aside the argument and the whole discussion us for another
[49:58]day he said the proximity of allah is misused over here because
[50:02]there's two meanings that this can have one meaning of proximity to
[50:05]allah or of allah is that we are all in proximity to
[50:12]allah right every single being by the fact that they are creation
[50:16]of allah they are close to allah they are dependent fully in
[50:19]their existence to allah this is an existential um proximity to allah
[50:23]just like the quran says that we are closer to you than
[50:26]your jugular vein and other reward and a very verse of the
[50:28]quran that point to the fact that we're all close to allah
[50:36]however there is another proximity to allah okay that is very important
[50:38]and this proximity to allah occurs as as a result of a
[50:47]journey that man undertakes through his or her free will and that
[50:51]proximity and this is where i like to time in my discussion
[50:54]and that proximity is nothing but understanding and knowledge of allah if
[51:01]we say we're on a journey towards allah subhanahu wa ta'ala obviously
[51:05]we know this is not a we're not taking a physical journey
[51:08]right we're not moving from one place to another uh taking a
[51:13]plane or a train no when we go to allah what does
[51:15]this mean going on a journey towards allah seeking his proximity this
[51:20]is nothing but knowledge of allah this is nothing but understanding of
[51:26]allah subhana wa and so now if you go back to the
[51:31]the traditions that i mentioned this takes another meaning right when you
[51:33]say that allah loves the one who seeks knowledge you understand why
[51:37]does this allah allah's love come for this person right because he
[51:42]is coming close to allah why is the value of man based
[51:46]on how much he knows because the value of man as we
[51:50]understand is the proximity to allah the how close he is to
[51:57]absolute perfection and this doesn't happen except through mahadeva through understanding so
[52:02]this is an introduction where we realize that knowledge is very important
[52:07]and seeking knowledge is extremely important and alhamdulillah inshallah all of us
[52:13]are seekers of knowledge wherever we are in whatever a work we
[52:17]have um at some level we're seeking knowledge now this was an
[52:23]introduction i'd like to mention six points in this short period of
[52:28]time that i have six sorry i like to mention five points
[52:31]five essential points five and social things that we need to have
[52:37]within us to ensure that we are able to seek knowledge in
[52:41]other words seeking knowledge requires many things out of these things for
[52:46]today i've i i'm going to highlight five of them this is
[52:48]not a exhaustive list there's a lot more things that we can
[52:53]talk about but i'd like to mention five of them the first
[52:57]one is efforts seeking knowledge requires efforts it requires struggling it just
[53:06]doesn't happen by reading a book here and there or with an
[53:10]attitude of i'll do it whenever the time comes whenever the opportunity
[53:14]comes it actually requires us to timetable it you know how we
[53:19]have in our timetable a specific time for work specific time for
[53:25]saturday night football a specific time for facebook well that's usually a
[53:30]lot of the time but um we have times for everything in
[53:34]our timetable in our weekly timetable in our monthly timetable we should
[53:40]also put down um seeking knowledge whether it's picking up a book
[53:45]whether it's um taking part in a course whether it's listening to
[53:48]a lecture whether it's talking to somebody about something um related to
[53:52]the religion it's important that we timetable it effort is very important
[53:57]and by effort this requires it to be continuous you know something
[54:01]that if we think about in today's world we live in a
[54:05]world where the attitude and the ideology that we have is overnight
[54:09]millionaire right the concept is that um this is the philosophy of
[54:14]today's if today's world that the least amount of effort for the
[54:18]for the huge the most amount of results right you want to
[54:23]put least amount of effort and you want to gain as so
[54:26]much in um in exchange and you realize that this mentality we
[54:32]do everything with that mentality everything that we do we want to
[54:38]reduce the amount of efforts that we put in anything as much
[54:40]as we can we reduce the efforts um sometimes you feel like
[54:45]if i tell somebody like you need to put effort towards it's
[54:48]like why should i this is i can achieve it by a
[54:51]click of a mouse button or in a very short span of
[54:56]time and interesting when when you have to put an effort you
[54:58]don't have a choice suddenly you feel tired you feel like yawning
[55:00]you're not bothered let's watch tv instead if you look at islam
[55:07]we are taught that the quran for example says that there is
[55:12]nothing for mankind except that which he or she strives for the
[55:19]focus of islam is on striving and putting efforts and knowledge is
[55:26]not acquired except through efforts this is a principle if you look
[55:32]at our mind our scholars they were like this as well they
[55:34]would put a huge amount of efforts and only those who put
[55:38]efforts will be able to be successful yes there are other things
[55:41]as well involved but one of those things is efforts that we
[55:46]need to if we want to dive deep we need to struggle
[55:49]it means that you need to feel pain you know sometimes um
[55:53]today i was just um playing football with some of the some
[55:56]of the children eight nine year old children and we were stretching
[56:00]right at the beginning we do exercise and stretch before playing football
[56:02]and they're like no this is hurting they're hurting and i was
[56:06]explaining to them that it has to hurt like if it doesn't
[56:10]hurt then you haven't done it properly it has to hurt it
[56:13]has to feel like an effort similarly with knowledge if it doesn't
[56:17]feel like an effort then we haven't put an effort we haven't
[56:19]done enough it should feel like a struggle the scholars that would
[56:25]spend nights over books and reflecting and thinking these are very very
[56:31]important points that was point number one point number two is the
[56:35]concept of sacrifice it ties in well with efforts but i want
[56:39]to separate it because i want to give it a special attention
[56:42]that in order to seek knowledge we need to sacrifice the more
[56:48]we sacrifice the more we're showing that we want it you see
[56:53]knowledge a lot of it comes from up right it's not something
[56:55]it's not a direct result of your efforts as well and to
[56:59]be able to receive it you need to show that you want
[57:03]it one of the best ways to show that you want it
[57:05]is to sacrifice to say that you know what i've given a
[57:07]lot for this once you show that i've given a lot for
[57:12]this you can say they have sacrifice you can get a much
[57:15]more amount of knowledge through that sitting at home listening to online
[57:19]lectures and classes and courses is really good definitely now times we
[57:24]don't have choice sometimes but sometimes you feel that it's not sufficient
[57:28]you need to work even harder you need to sacrifice a bit
[57:33]more even if it's online let it come with a bit of
[57:35]pain a bit of sacrifice you can say i've put something that
[57:39]i like aside for seeking knowledge right purpose you do this when
[57:43]you put something you really really like put it aside for a
[57:46]bit just because i want to show that i'm really seeking knowledge
[57:50]over here sometimes you have to sacrifice money sometimes you have to
[57:54]sacrifice time sometimes you have to sacrifice things that you socials that
[58:00]you enjoy i remember back in the days we used to have
[58:03]these programs on sunday mornings at uh at wessex in the old
[58:09]bungalow and we used to get all together with our friends together
[58:14]for for the fajr numbers and after that we should have a
[58:18]small discussion about a hadith or a verse and it was a
[58:21]lot of sacrifice it was because i mean yes at the beginning
[58:25]it was very exciting and the brothers would remember right um it
[58:28]was very exciting at the beginning it was really nice but then
[58:31]slowly says time went and it became cold and it became early
[58:34]and um it was at times of sacrifice and i remember i
[58:39]remember this particular moment where i had this very clear memory that
[58:43]it was just three of us it was myself it was hussein
[58:45]and it was another brother there as well and he was just
[58:49]three of us but we still kept going and it was a
[58:51]sacrifice that the brothers were making and i'm sure hussein would remember
[58:57]like the sacrifice that had to go through to come to these
[58:59]programs but it showed that um really have to put aside things
[59:04]just to make these things happen right and all the brothers were
[59:07]putting a lot of sacrifice to happen and it had a very
[59:10]special sweet taste to those programs sometimes the sacrifice is so great
[59:17]that you have to actually leave aside your work leave aside your
[59:20]family and move to another country right and join um the people
[59:28]who are seeking knowledge full time right go to the house with
[59:32]this niger for other places and many a times the sacrifice is
[59:41]huge right you live in your comfort back at home you have
[59:43]a house you have a job certain things that the comfortable things
[59:49]that you have back in in the uk you don't find them
[59:52]in najaf i remember this is five six years ago i think
[59:57]one of my teachers over here i'm sure this is something that
[60:01]the family remembers especially one of my teachers he went for al-bain
[60:04]to najaf and karbala when he came back he said i i
[60:08]met somebody we were at somebody's house in najaf and i was
[60:13]curious to know who he was he's like he knew you and
[60:16]uh and mentioned hussein's houses like i was in house for maybe
[60:20]a couple of days i think and he was really um really
[60:24]praising her saying a lot and he was saying subhanallah like this
[60:28]this brother is is amazing in seeking knowledge his questions is asking
[60:32]him he made a few points maybe i'll mention them later he
[60:34]had a very good memory and in fact i just spoke to
[60:37]him right now i told him that um it was an hour
[60:39]or two ago i spoke to him and said that i'm going
[60:42]to give a lecture at this program and he said that please
[60:46]remember mention if you want to mention what i said about him
[60:48]as well because really i have fond memories he was very hospitable
[60:52]he was extremely hospitable and um we really had a really good
[60:58]time over there and he was just mentioning some memories one of
[61:01]the things he mentioned was that um he was saying that this
[61:06]the the sacrifice that they had to make to come to nurjah
[61:08]we said life in najaf is not so easy and those who've
[61:13]been there they remember remember as well right sometimes you don't have
[61:17]electricity sometimes you don't have light the house you live in the
[61:19]comfort that you have you've left so much back at home and
[61:23]you've come over here if somebody would would look at the situation
[61:26]like this like what kind of silly things you've done like you've
[61:31]left so much at home a stable job a comfortable house and
[61:34]you've come over here and the desert is 50 degrees and you
[61:38]don't have an ac in the the the situation with water electricity
[61:43]and internet and it's it's a state but when you ask these
[61:47]people these seekers of knowledge that what have you done they'll just
[61:51]smile at you and tell you this is this is why i've
[61:52]sacrificed because i know what i'm getting is in exchange i've left
[61:57]everything all of that and because i'm more i'm more worried and
[62:01]i really want this knowledge and what's more important is that they
[62:04]will not even count it as a sacrifice if you would ask
[62:08]for things like i haven't done anything we haven't done anything so
[62:13]this is sacrifice extremely important if we are seeking seekers of knowledge
[62:17]thirdly so the first one is effort the second was sacrifice the
[62:22]third one is when we want to seek knowledge it is essential
[62:27]that we seek it from pure sources you know when you go
[62:34]to the supermarket and you buy things we're very careful to always
[62:36]pick things that are healthy right i mean most of us at
[62:40]home take care of what we eat we choose we look at
[62:43]the ingredients we check if it has something nutritious for us as
[62:47]vitamins as extra minerals whatever it has at the end it should
[62:50]give me something of benefit right and the moment i see something
[62:54]that is not good for my for my health it's not good
[62:56]for my body i'm going to fall ill if i eat this
[62:59]i leave it aside right now look at what imam alhassan tells
[63:04]us he says hijab he said i'm very surprised it's very very
[63:07]surprising as i'm very surprised that of a person who thinks very
[63:20]carefully about what he eats but he doesn't think carefully about what
[63:26]he learns we're very careful to choose the right food and make
[63:32]sure that we don't fall ill but how come is it that
[63:36]when it comes to knowledge we pick up any book we pick
[63:38]up any courses we listen to any series of lecture any person
[63:43]that's got something to say we just joined their classes the imam
[63:47]tells us this is not right he says he keeps his stomach
[63:50]far from that which causes pain but he takes his heart towards
[63:57]that which destroys him when you eat something that's going to be
[64:00]harmful for you okay it will give you pain and we stay
[64:05]away from this pain but we're not careful of those things that
[64:08]will destroy our hearts our hearts the hearts of our children why
[64:14]is it that we're so careless about um what we what knowledge
[64:21]we take and where we take it from we should be very
[64:26]very sensitive even more sensitive than our nutrition because this is an
[64:30]issue related to our heart whether ourselves of our children as well
[64:35]unfortunately in the modern world again it's an it's attitudin as an
[64:41]ideology of the modern world right that no i'm clever enough i
[64:43]know i'm able to digest anything i'll get i'm i'm a free
[64:48]thinker i'm going to learn from any person and pick up any
[64:53]book i'm i'm confident that i will be able to know what
[64:55]is true what is wrong and in the end there we have
[64:57]to be three free thinkers what is this thing of um choosing
[65:01]your your knowledge but this is not what the bits have taught
[65:04]us this is not what the quran has taught us islam teaches
[65:08]us that a wise believer chooses very very carefully their source of
[65:14]knowledge the book that you pick up the courses that you attend
[65:18]the lecture that you attend sometimes you have to consult a scholar
[65:22]and ask for his advice a scholar that you trust that you
[65:28]know is an expert ask his advice is this good for me
[65:29]to read or not is this from is this good when to
[65:33]listen to this course or not this is really important we should
[65:36]have a phone call with a school this is the way we
[65:39]we go to a nutritionist or we go to a doctor and
[65:40]say is this healthy for me to eat right now can i
[65:42]eat this right now or is it going to cause me pain
[65:44]similarly you go to this is this is from the imam yeah
[65:47]you go to a school and says i want to attend this
[65:49]course do you think it's worth attending this course is it good
[65:51]for me it says that many knowledge leads you astray there's so
[66:03]many knowledge out there that will actually deviate you from the path
[66:08]obviously we're not saying we should be close minded obviously we should
[66:12]never be close minded obviously we should be aware of the different
[66:15]opinions out there but at the same time we shouldn't be careless
[66:18]of that which we give to our nafs that which we um
[66:23]that that which forms our spiritual nutrition when imam mambakar sanam explained
[66:44]knowledge that you should be looking at that source from which you
[66:51]get your knowledge from the quran says in sun should definitely look
[66:56]at his food that's what the verse says the imam said here
[66:59]food means knowledge that you should definitely look at your knowledge in
[67:03]the sense the imam says from who you're getting this knowledge from
[67:10]this is extremely important for us that we should be taking knowledge
[67:15]only from the right sources and we should be sending our school
[67:20]our children to schools to places where they're learning that we have
[67:23]full trust and confidence that only that which is from islam is
[67:26]taught to them this is the responsibility for us this is taking
[67:30]care of us right and this is something that we learn from
[67:34]our scholars we learn from from the ah debate number four thinking
[67:40]and asking this is a very important point regarding seeking knowledge says
[67:47]that fake and reflecting and thinking leads one towards wisdom sometimes we
[67:54]need to put our foot down our phone down sorry our foot
[67:58]down and our phone down and contemplate on what we read contemplate
[68:02]on some of the verses of the quran contemplating the hadith you
[68:06]know sometimes you think about it yeah and you realize that i
[68:10]haven't spent some time with myself all alone have you thought about
[68:15]that when was the last time you had a moment with yourself
[68:20]just you and yourself and i mean with presence of mind right
[68:24]now with the phone next to you that's going to ring any
[68:26]moment no putting everything inside just you and yourself just think about
[68:30]it for a moment at the beginning it's difficult but we need
[68:33]to get used to be alone with ourselves in our thoughts sometimes
[68:37]this thinking is very important it means five minutes a day what
[68:41]happens is that when you think you have questions it's only through
[68:47]contemplating that you're able to have questions with you you're able to
[68:51]derive and have some um topics that are in your mind that
[68:57]are driving you towards acquiring more knowledge through towards through questioning and
[69:03]once you have questioned you've got the key for knowledge question is
[69:07]the key for knowledge the messenger of allah says that knowledge is
[69:15]a treasure and its key is what it's key is asking you
[69:23]know sometimes sometimes you sit with a scholar and what happens is
[69:26]that you've got nothing to say to him you're like i'm sitting
[69:31]with him but i don't know what to say i don't have
[69:33]any topic to discuss i don't have any questions i'm just blank
[69:37]or sometimes you're talking between your friends and something some idea comes
[69:42]in your mind and you think that maybe i should be using
[69:44]this time for something more fruitful maybe i should have a good
[69:46]intellectual discussion with this person right with my friend let's talk about
[69:49]something let's talk about something interesting and then you go blank i
[69:58]don't know i don't have any questions it's really sad it's really
[70:01]sad if this is my case and this is really sad right
[70:05]i remember hussain was not like that absolutely wasn't like that whenever
[70:10]we used to be together even in the most craziest of places
[70:12]where there was in random parks across across the uk or on
[70:17]top of snowdonia the brothers would remember he always had questions or
[70:23]something to talk about something intellectual whether it was a verse of
[70:25]the quran a hadith an event in history like that what do
[70:28]you think of this what do you think of that and he
[70:31]would just question and ask and discuss and anything and everything it
[70:35]would just be a matter of let's talk about it and it
[70:38]always had something positive towards it and this shows that his mind
[70:43]was always um thinking and reflecting he was always using things and
[70:47]his knowledge to always reflect and ask questions and it's a big
[70:52]lesson for us that we should be like this as well that
[70:54]we should be our mind should be constantly be pondering about things
[70:59]whether you're at work you're driving i remember when you when you
[71:05]drive a lot of us are commuting from far places right when
[71:07]you're driving you're commuting sometimes you switch everything off right radio 4
[71:10]and everything just put you off close the windows and just talk
[71:14]to yourself sometimes i do that as well when you're driving just
[71:16]talk to yourself right i sometimes prepare my lectures whilst i'm driving
[71:19]and talking to yourself whilst you're driving and suddenly you have different
[71:22]discussions that will pop up you're talking to yourself or just reflect
[71:27]right just reflect on things that you've learned today this scholar said
[71:31]this for example what does it mean for me what are the
[71:33]consequences of this asking questions this is extremely important this is something
[71:39]that is very essential for all the seekers of knowledge one last
[71:44]verse about this topic the imam says people will perish because they
[71:56]don't ask people will perish because they don't ask so ask lastly
[72:02]the last of the five points for seek for the seekers of
[72:08]knowledge is that we need to be working together when we're seeking
[72:10]knowledge many times working a social platform on a social setup is
[72:15]actually very beneficial for us it gives us more motivation it leads
[72:19]us to results much quicker and for people around us as well
[72:23]that we're working and seeking knowledge together it really is beneficial whether
[72:27]it's through book clubs through taking courses together driving just discussions informal
[72:31]discussions about different things with one another timetabled regular this really helps
[72:39]us in this seeing of knowledge says that says meet together and
[72:49]discuss and together get together and talk about him together this is
[72:54]the advice of mum to his years and he says look at
[72:59]the result of this if you do this it is through the
[73:04]hadith to discussing the uh issues related to the religion that the
[73:08]hearts will become brightened and illuminous the illuminous luminous and bright faces
[73:16]and hearts of the shears is because of these discussions that have
[73:19]one another right hadith and it is through the discussion that our
[73:30]affairs that the religion is maintained and given life and given life
[73:37]and may allah have mercy to those who bring to life our
[73:42]affairs in the religion so different discussion circles um i know meeting
[73:47]together in today's world is a bit difficult right because of issues
[73:51]that we're facing but we can still do it online we can
[73:53]still have discussions online these are very important again a memory that
[73:57]comes to mind is um and all the youths of asexual to
[74:00]remember as well are monday night circles that we used to have
[74:03]in those in that rented place enforcement for all the bachelors at
[74:07]our university days and hussein was one of them as well um
[74:10]a bit after that although i mean the mosque is where we
[74:13]start the discussion cycles and again the morning prayers these were um
[74:19]i'm not sure how much the brothers would realize but this was
[74:22]the very blessed sessions they were sessions because all the brothers were
[74:26]coming together making efforts and sacrificing and sincerity and humility and just
[74:32]discussing hadith and the affairs of the athletic and it was very
[74:37]beautiful sessions and i have a lot of good memories about these
[74:40]sessions and i'm sure a lot of the brothers will do as
[74:43]well and this is again a very important point for all those
[74:46]who are seeking knowledge that we should be working together so these
[74:51]are five points that i wanted to share um in today's discussion
[74:54]i'd like to make one final point before i move to a
[74:58]very short messiah and this is that in the efforts and in
[75:04]the sacrifice that we go to in seeking knowledge many at times
[75:09]this cannot happen without the support from people around us especially especially
[75:15]especially family right a supportive wife who joins you on this journey
[75:22]and bears the difficulties is patient as well as parents who bear
[75:26]their pain of separation and they constantly make dua for for that
[75:32]person who's seeking knowledge these are very special blessings of allah and
[75:36]there is a lot of reward right for these members this this
[75:43]wife this mother who is part and parcel of this journey of
[75:48]seeking knowledge and is enduring the sacrifice and the efforts in this
[75:54]journey without any complaint but rather with full support with full motivation
[76:01]with giving this preparing the grounds for this um seeking knowledge to
[76:09]happen and for this for sure the reward is equal with that
[76:12]person and as the quran said that these people will be joined
[76:18]together on the day of judgment and in the in the next
[76:21]world that they will be joined the family members will come together
[76:23]um on the in the next world and our scholars would say
[76:27]this is something quite famous that they would say that whatever we
[76:32]have um is nothing but um from the sacrifice of our family
[76:36]and so a lot of appreciation a lot of thanks and all
[76:41]the eyes goes to these wives and to these mothers who give
[76:44]a lot on this path of seeking journey on the seeking knowledge
[76:59]i like to take our hearts to medina just for a few
[77:15]moments [Music] take your hearts to medina take your hearts to the
[77:39]darkness of the night that particular night where amir al-mu'amin is burying
[77:51]someone he's burying someone very special someone special someone that was very
[77:57]dear to him and he is all alone they say that after
[78:11]giving zahra imam ali takes her body to a very secret place
[78:17]in the middle of the night to bury her but once this
[78:20]burial is finished raised the dust of the cover of the daughter
[78:41]of rasulullah when is finished putting the sand he wipes off the
[78:51]sand from his hand at this moment a sadness takes over imam
[79:00]ali hose an incredible house and sadness takes imam ali you ask
[79:07]why now you see when imam ali was doing rus and kaffen
[79:13]of atama his mind was busy he was ensuring that the horse
[79:15]and comfort is done properly he was ensuring that the children don't
[79:18]cry out too loudly he was ensuring that the burial happens properly
[79:22]but now in the darkness of the night he's put all the
[79:27]sun on the grave he's put the last grains of sun on
[79:30]the grave of zahra now the realization comes in now it all
[79:34]sinks in that he's all over now he feels the loneliness and
[79:40]separation from the daughter of rasulullah at this moment a sadness comes
[79:48]to aliyah tears starts flowing on his cheek on his cheeks his
[79:59]eyes throw tears tears of sadness and pain and then he recites
[80:04]according to narrations this line of poetry says tears confine my soul
[80:20]how i wish my soul through tears will be liberated that there
[80:35]is no good in this life without you he's addressing he says
[80:40]there is no good in this life without you i only cry
[80:44]out of fear of a lengthy life without you this is amir
[80:51]al-mu'mini in those last moments before he leaves that graves that he
[80:54]before he leaves that grave and before he leaves fatima to sahara
[80:58]all if there is any in this lecture and these tears to
[81:16]the marhum to hussein our our friend our brother our father our
[81:23]wife our son our community member inshallah one of the soldiers of
[81:27]the imam all the thought from the jealousy and from this from
[81:33]this from this list and inshallah um all the murakami of this
[81:40]gathering inshallah thank you thank you so much sheikh mcdad for that
[82:06]excellent contribution and for remembering the fond memories of the memorable times
[82:10]spent together with hussain we pray for your continued and may he
[82:19]grant you success in your studies muhammad before i start this i
[82:43]just wanted to mention about um before i start this casino um
[82:49]i just wanted to say a couple of words to kind of
[82:54]give a sort of background about the casino itself and then a
[83:00]shoot i grew up with hussein i knew when he was a
[83:04]mischievous little kid and i saw him grow at the opportunity to
[83:07]travel with him to you know see the world with him and
[83:11]he was a very very good friend of mine a very friend
[83:15]of our group um i think as he grew older one of
[83:18]the things which really really stuck with us all i think which
[83:21]probably touched everybody was his o'clock his his manners i think were
[83:25]really something which separated him from from everybody else i think his
[83:30]heart was phenomenal and actually so when it came to deciding to
[83:33]recite a nasheed for hussein i didn't go one which i wrote
[83:39]myself i know it's someone i went with one which sort of
[83:41]highlights the power of a hack and it's an issue called don't
[83:45]talk to me about muhammad it will be such a pleasure to
[83:57]have you come along with me i accept your gracious offer of
[84:04]kindness and company but as we walk along young man and as
[84:09]you help me with my load i have only one request as
[84:16]we travel down this road don't talk to me about muhammad because
[84:22]of him there is no peace and i have trouble in my
[84:28]mind so don't talk to me about muhammad and as we walk
[84:35]along together we will get along just fine as we walk along
[84:40]together we will get along that man upsets me so so much
[84:47]more than you could know i hear of his name and reputation
[84:52]everywhere i go though his family and his clan once knew him
[84:58]as an honest man he is dividing everyone with his claim that
[85:04]god is one so don't talk to me about muhammad because of
[85:10]him there is no peace and i have trouble in my mind
[85:16]so don't talk to me about muhammad and as we walk along
[85:22]together we will get along just fine as we walk along together
[85:27]we will get along he has misled all the weak ones and
[85:33]the poor ones and the slaves they think they've all found wealth
[85:38]and freedom following his ways he's corrupted all the youth with his
[85:44]twisted brand of truth convinced them that they all are strong giving
[85:49]them somewhere to belong so don't talk to me about muhammad because
[85:55]of him there is no peace and i have trouble in my
[86:01]mind so don't talk to me about muhammad and as we walk
[86:08]along together we will get along just fine as we walk along
[86:12]together we will get along thank you now young man you've really
[86:19]been so kind your generosity and smaller very red fine let me
[86:27]give you some advice since you've been so very nice from muhammad
[86:33]stay away don't hear his words or emulate his ways and don't
[86:38]talk about muhammad you will never find true peace and trouble is
[86:46]all you will find so don't talk about muhammad and as you
[86:52]travel down life's road you will get along just fine [Music] now
[86:59]before we part and go if it's all right just the same
[87:04]may i ask my day young man who are you what's your
[87:09]name forgive me what was that your words weren't very clear my
[87:16]ears are getting old sometimes it's difficult to hear it's truly rather
[87:25]funny though i'm sure i must be wrong but i thought i
[87:28]heard you said that your name was muhammad [Music] [Music] upon you
[87:52]i pray for peace for you happy is my troubled mind oh
[87:58]talk to [Music] and as we walk along together we will get
[88:08]along just fine as i travel down left's road i will get
[88:12]along just fine [Music] thank you for the sajad for that beautiful
[88:31]qasida uh next we have a touching tribute by the dear mother
[88:37]of hussein which i will read out on behalf of anti-zaitan mother's
[88:43]tribute in the name of allah the beneficent the merciful we have
[88:52]gathered here today to celebrate the life of our dear son who
[88:57]was called back by the mercy of allah subhana ta'ala two years
[89:00]ago i would like to share a few reflections on the impact
[89:06]hussein made not only to us as his parents but wherever he
[89:12]was present he was a beacon of light and inspired people's spirits
[89:17]of all ages no matter young or old he left a lasting
[89:25]legacy through his kind and charitable nature our sincere thanks to everyone
[89:32]who has supported us over the last two years either with their
[89:38]presence and words of kindness we were overwhelmed by the personal messages
[89:44]that came across from all over the globe on the day of
[89:48]his merit one such poignant message to name a few was from
[89:54]syed mustafa kazuni who did salatul for hussain and a heart rendering
[90:00]message from sheikh mansour of australia it has made me realize the
[90:09]importance of what being part of an ummah means and made the
[90:14]grieving process bearable for us the ayah in surah rahman reminds me
[90:21]of hussain the word isan and hussain are from the same root
[90:26]word meaning goodness alhamdulillah hussain would go an extra mile to help
[90:35]the needy and lived up to his beautiful name in every situation
[90:40]i have no doubt hussein is reaping the rewards of his humble
[90:47]character and lasting legacy due to his commitment to fulfill to fulfill
[90:53]his duties wherever he was either in syria or najaf or at
[90:58]home one of the many things hussein used to say to me
[91:02]is life is rolling with waves and all we can do is
[91:09]ride out the waves and pray for the best life is rolling
[91:14]with the waves and all we can do is ride out the
[91:19]waves and pray for the best please remember this was a mother's
[91:31]tribute of her beautiful son uncle hamish and anti zaitan very deservingly
[91:38]are immensely proud of hussein and feel blessed to have a son
