[0:00][Music] alhamdulillah ald [Music] muham AB hinin bar [Music] for the purification
[2:43]of the souls and the enlightenment of the hearts and for the
[2:46]hastening of the reappearance of the awaited Savior Enlighten your souls and
[2:53]the atmosphere with the recitation of salawat upon Muhammad Ali Muhammad muhamad
[3:00]Muhammad respected Elders brothers and sisters he is mentioned 136 Times by
[3:16]name in the Holy Quran across 34 chapters his life has a
[3:24]number of important Dimensions which can be studied and indeed he is
[3:29]respected and revered amongst many people and many religions Prophet m is
[3:40]an individual whom the Quran has paid special attention towards and indeed
[3:46]his story is mentioned more than any other in fact the closest
[3:55]individual as far as the number of mentionings in the Quran that
[3:59]comes to Prophet Musa is ibraim alisam who's mentioned 69 times in
[4:04]the holy book when we analyze the biography and the life of
[4:10]this great prophet of God we find that he is considered to
[4:13]be an important and effective leader who indeed took his community out
[4:19]of slavery oppression Injustice towards freedom and importantly the worship of the
[4:27]almighty subhanahu wa taala the number of times Musa is mentioned mentioned
[4:31]in the Quran should not be taken for granted Allah subhah wa
[4:34]ta'ala is sending you and I a powerful message the story of
[4:39]Musa is a very significant and crucial story that needs to be
[4:43]understood when it comes to its several Dimensions whether it's economic spiritual
[4:49]historical social Geographic the story of Musa is therefore fascinating and Allah
[4:54]subhanahu wa ta'ala depicts him in the best of possible ways similar
[5:01]to the other prophets in the Quran the almighty says about this
[5:04]great prophet that he is amongst the the righteous The Virtuous the
[5:09]goodd doers Musa is referred to as Kim the one whom Allah
[5:15]subhah wa taala spoke to the Quran depicts this idea that MSA
[5:19]had this dependency upon Allah andul submission towards him for example when
[5:25]B Isel were being taken away from their land and headed by
[5:31]this great individual when they reached the sea they saw that the
[5:35]army of f is approaching towards them they are in their hundreds
[5:39]of their thousands and they saw in front of them the sea
[5:44]so they wondered how are they going to cross what is happening
[5:47]to them the Quran tells us that they looked at MSA and
[5:50]said we are finished that there is no way that we will
[5:56]survive M the Quran tells us M was calm and tranquil he
[6:05]said no Allah is with me he will guide me and at
[6:10]that moment of course the sea split for this great individual yet
[6:12]not the same thing can be said when it comes to the
[6:14]depiction of this great prophet in other religions and especially in movies
[6:20]because Musa has been the subject of several movies in Hollywood for
[6:25]example the film Exodus in 2014 depicted the story of MSA and
[6:30]yet you look and if you watch this movie you'll be shocked
[6:34]as a Muslim why because Musa is shown to be an individual
[6:37]who doubtful an individual who is angered and is one who complains
[6:43]against Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala God forbid likewise the actor who played
[6:51]MSA by the name of Christian Bale he says I believe Moses
[6:54]is schizophrenic and is amongst one of the most barbaric individuals I've
[6:58]ever heard of in my life this is who the actor who
[7:04]plays this great prophet of God in this Blockbuster so-called movie whereas
[7:09]the quranic depiction is completely different when it comes to these honorable
[7:15]individuals whom Allah subhana wa tal has chosen there are so many
[7:18]areas within the life of this great prophet of God that we
[7:22]can analyze however I would like to examine one important aspect and
[7:26]that is the family life and the marriage of this great prophet
[7:30]prophet with Moses peace be upon him why because when we look
[7:35]at the chosen Servants of Allah it is not only when they
[7:38]deliver the message or it is not only how they conduct themselves
[7:41]in public that is relevant to you and I it is indeed
[7:46]their private life too every aspect about them should be inspirational motivational
[7:51]a source of guidance we should look at them and seek to
[7:54]apply lessons from their lives in accordance with the teachings of the
[7:58]Almighty subhanahu therefore as far as the prophets are concerned what their
[8:06]marriage for example their conduct with their family every element about their
[8:12]lives should be applicable and important and should be viewed therefore when
[8:17]it comes to Prophet Mosa's marriage I would like to look at
[8:22]it amongst the following points number one what uh is the background
[8:26]behind his marriage and how did his marriage take place secondly what
[8:32]is the controversy regarding his wife historically how is this viewed thirdly
[8:37]what is the Quran tell us about the qualities that M had
[8:41]that he exhibited as far as his marriage is concerned and fourthly
[8:47]what other qualities that he had generally that no doubt are influential
[8:53]and important to have a strong marital relationship that you and I
[8:57]can learn from when it comes to mam the second phase of
[9:04]his life as described in the Holy Quran is his Exile from
[9:08]Egypt towards an area known as Medan Medan is modern day southern
[9:15]part of Jordan we are told that of course he had to
[9:17]leave because he was separating a fight that occurred between one of
[9:24]his Shia and one of the cops of Egypt it could have
[9:26]been the cook of Fon who was sometimes wretched was sometimes oppressive
[9:31]and mam separated them and this individual the supporter of died he
[9:37]had to leave because he was accused of murder the narration tell
[9:42]us for8 days he was walking barefoot and he had no food
[9:45]he was eating plants he was eating grass whatever he had he
[9:51]reached this area of Medan the Quran tells us this story in
[9:57]chapter 28 when he came to this area he saw two ladies
[10:00]standing aside and he witnessed that there are people close to a
[10:09]well taking out water and feeding their sheep and their animals yet
[10:13]he recognized that these two ladies were not able to go and
[10:15]take the water out he came to them and said what is
[10:21]the problem what is going on the first thing to understand and
[10:27]we have to scrutinize the story and try try to extrapolate lessons
[10:30]for in every Dimension that we can the first area that comes
[10:33]to mind is what is the fact that these ladies knew the
[10:40]the importance of not being in a proximity with men and avoided
[10:43]this idea of mixing with them even when it comes to possibly
[10:46]some kind of physical interaction in which way we are told sometimes
[10:54]you know when it comes to certain Gatherings or in certain places
[10:58]like for example where like for example when it comes to sports
[11:03]say that when it comes to sports men and women should not
[11:09]be playing together in the same area when it comes to sporting
[11:12]activity this happens in schools and colleges and other places this is
[11:16]problematic in sh law because males and females who are what cannot
[11:23]be in this particular state where they have a a possible physical
[11:28]contact with each other likewise I remember in uh Hajj few years
[11:33]ago one of the brothers came and I saw that he was
[11:37]very happy came back to the hotel where we were staying I
[11:40]said to him what's happened he said alhamdulillah I have achieved it
[11:43]I said what did you achieve he said I have managed to
[11:47]get to the how he said I did not push anybody I
[11:50]was there and the movement itself the tide pushed me and I
[11:57]got to the haar alhamdulillah I am so happy asked him how
[12:00]did you come out you know when you got in there how
[12:04]did you come out he looked at me and said I'll see
[12:08]you tomorrow inshallah this idea that exists and that is what men
[12:12]and women together when it comes to TA sometimes you cannot avoid
[12:15]but when are there are areas which we can avoid when it
[12:19]comes to the what the mixing that may involve physical contact the
[12:22]Quran tells us we should be very careful these two ladies they
[12:29]stood on the side m came to them and said what is
[12:33]going on and they told him that our father is elderly we
[12:39]do not have a male in our family to help us and
[12:40]these people are men who are taking out the water and we
[12:46]are waiting for them to finish mam thereafter immediately helped them yes
[12:53]he seeds the opportunity to serve this is a beautiful point in
[12:59]the story many times in our lives Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala presents
[13:03]us with opportunities to provide service to others to improve the lives
[13:07]of others to place happiness in the hearts of others this service
[13:13]is of great importance may Allah subhana wa ta'ala bless the m
[13:17]and the M who work tirelessly for so many years in order
[13:22]to have this wonderful Center yes this is a message for the
[13:25]Youth that sometimes some of the youth they take this idea of
[13:28]serving the community lightly that when it comes to our fathers and
[13:34]our grandfathers they work tirelessly to ensure that we have these wonderful
[13:38]centers in which we can remember the and which we are comfortable
[13:42]in these particular environments isn't it how is it that we continue
[13:46]the spirit of the service towards the community sometimes we can give
[13:51]our time sometimes we can donate sometimes we can assist in any
[13:57]shape or form yes not only in this blessed sender a message
[13:59]to all the M around the world these malalis these honorable malalis
[14:02]that are taking part if we are for example walking and we
[14:07]see something on the ground in the parking lot or outside it
[14:10]is what it becomes my responsibility to make sure that it is
[14:15]clean or in the washrooms or in the bathrooms the idea that
[14:18]it must be inculcated within our youngsters and our youth is the
[14:23]spirit of giving for the sake of Allah because I tell you
[14:26]when you and I sometimes are approached by a poor person or
[14:32]an individual whom we assist don't think that you have made a
[14:36]favor for them in fact they have made a favor over you
[14:41]why because you are fixing their D they are fixing your isn't
[14:46]it that these opportunities to serve are from Allah subhah wa ta'ala
[14:50]Allah waala provides us and we have to seize them may Allah
[14:57]bless the soul of Al M where his famous statement that many
[15:01]of you have heard where he says I do not necessarily ask
[15:06]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for the acceptance of myal but more so
[15:10]about the opportunity to serve because when he gives me this opportunity
[15:14]I know that myal has been accepted the more opportunities I'm given
[15:20]the more the doors of Heaven are opened for you and I
[15:25]isn't it that Spirit of making a positive difference and helping others
[15:29]is truly one that we need to build within ourselves being inspired
[15:33]by the message of the peace be upon them he comes forward
[15:39]Musa narrations tell us that it needed several people to pick up
[15:44]and to somehow draw up the bucket of water from the well
[15:47]he did it entirely by himself the narrations tell us that he
[15:52]told the people don't you not see those ladies standing there could
[15:55]you not help them why do you make them just stand there
[15:58]without assisting them he rebuked them he came forward he gave the
[16:05]water or helped these two ladies and then did what and then
[16:09]went back the Quran tells us that he went and spoke to
[16:15]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala before we mention what he said there's an
[16:19]important Point here the say when it comes to interaction between the
[16:23]genders it is permissible yet we should have a sense of formality
[16:31]at least or necessity meaning what mam did not come to the
[16:34]ladies and said by the way check me out I am Musa
[16:39]yes or he did not come to them and say let me
[16:42]walk you home you know I'll be with you or let's take
[16:47]a selfie together yes MSA alisam did not have a conversation with
[16:50]them do you know about this Justin be and this person or
[16:54]whatever this individual knew the boundaries that exist when it comes to
[16:59]interaction between the opposite genders isn't it likewise when it comes to
[17:04]our relationship or when it comes to our conduct in society this
[17:09]social hijab needs to be observed no doubt this is an important
[17:11]lesson that is derived from this particular incident the Quran tells us
[17:17]that he sat and he did not expect anything in return from
[17:22]these ladies he did everything for the sake of Allah subhanahu waala
[17:26]and he said he says Allah you've given me so much but
[17:34]today I have nothing M was raised in the Palace of he
[17:39]had the food that he wanted he had the protection that he
[17:41]wanted he had the clothes that he wanted now he has absolutely
[17:46]nothing but notice Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is telling you an i
[17:49]and Mark these words he says if you serve others for my
[17:53]sake and you are sincere I will change your life to the
[17:56]better and I will transform it because through this action Allah subhanahu
[18:02]wa taala made M get married and what gave him the responsibility
[18:06]to go towards Egypt what an important turning point isn't it that
[18:11]once you and I do things for the sake of Allah Allah
[18:15]subhanahu wa taala indeed looks after us the narration the Quran in
[18:20]fact tells us that these ladies went where did they go they
[18:23]went back to their father Prophet sham according to narrations the Quran
[18:28]does not tell us but the narrations do when they went back
[18:32]they said and they were communicating with their father in a transparent
[18:36]manner that we came back today early because there was a man
[18:42]who helped us their father requested that they go back or at
[18:45]least one of them goes back and calls that man in order
[18:48]for the father to somehow reward him Reen numerate him the Quran
[18:55]says one of them came walking with shyness with embarrassment with a
[19:05]sense of modesty and said our father wants to somehow reward you
[19:10]they both came and Shu asked Musa where are you from what
[19:14]is your story and mam explained everything about what had happened and
[19:20]the Quran tells us sh told him you are in safe hands
[19:25]don't worry now the idea that emerges in the Quran is that
[19:29]one of the daughters or perhaps both of them said to their
[19:37]father oh my father why don't you utilize this individual and make
[19:44]him somehow part of our family or at least make him work
[19:47]with us because he has two qualities he is strong and he's
[19:51]trustworthy the narrations tell us that sh asked the daughter why is
[19:58]he strong it was evident because he picked up the Water by
[20:02]himself but why is he considered to be a mean trustworthy because
[20:07]according to the narrations when this particular lady the daughter of sh
[20:11]when she was uh telling him to follow or to walk towards
[20:19]the house he said to her I do not wish to walk
[20:24]behind you I wish to walk in front of you so I
[20:29]will walk and if we need to turn you throw a stone
[20:30]towards that particular direction and I will follow yes out of adab
[20:37]out of respect out of modesty that he did not wish to
[20:40]walk behind the lady yes this is a pinnacle of AK isn't
[20:44]it wonderful way in which prophet mam demonstrates his qualities we are
[20:54]told that this Prophet sh then offered M he said I want
[20:56]you to marry one of my daughters and in return you can
[21:03]work for a minimum of 8 years or up to 10 years
[21:07]but I do not want to place too much pressure upon you
[21:10]yes I do not want to make too much of a burden
[21:15]upon you here it's interesting that we note there is nothing wrong
[21:20]with the lady herself with our sisters themselves coming to the father
[21:25]or the mother saying I want to get married you know sometimes
[21:29]in some several communities they say it's not befitting we wait for
[21:35]the man we wait for the boy to knock the door and
[21:37]request the hand of the daughter surely she should not be you
[21:42]know in that state of going and asking look you know I
[21:44]think there might be somebody I want to get married to you
[21:48]know the scare in the face of the father or the mother
[21:50]how could you this is not acceptable and so on and so
[21:54]forth there's absolutely nothing wrong with it and the proof is whom
[21:58]the mother of say [Applause] wasn't she the lady who approached the
[22:10]holy prophet and said I want to get married to you or
[22:14]not when it comes to these individuals we have to learn from
[22:17]them that they are they are beacons of light and great exemplars
[22:23]when it comes to Leading our own lives therefore you find this
[22:27]particular story and mam accepted and he fulfilled the entire 10 years
[22:31]one note that I would like to draw your attention is the
[22:36]word that is used in the Quran which is in reference to
[22:43]ha embarrassment shame yes this notion is of great importance in Islamic
[22:46]what does it refer to we are told there are two types
[22:52]of embarrassment or shame one that is recommended and that one that
[22:57]is discouraged and sometimes Haram the one that is recommended is divided
[23:02]into at least two divisions or two stages the first is to
[23:07]be embarrassed from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and the second is to
[23:11]be embarrassed from the people that's the good side yes in which
[23:17]way the holy prophet of Islam in a famous narration says the
[23:35]one that does not have a religion to follow will not exhibit
[23:41]embarrassment or ha and the one who does not exhibit embarrassment or
[23:45]shame in their conduct will not have a religion it works both
[23:49]ways yes we are told in the Islamic teachings of the importance
[23:56]that both males and females display this form of of it's a
[24:01]virtue it's a quality the first is before Allah subhanahu waala tell
[24:09]us exhibit fear of Allah as if you see him if you
[24:17]do not see him then know that he sees you no doubt
[24:23]this feeling and this realization that Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala is monitoring every
[24:30]action of ours not only action but also intention he is closer
[24:33]to us than our own selves he according to the Quran says
[24:40]he lies between our hearts and ourselves yes he's so close in
[24:48]that Dimension to the human being and that is why the realization
[24:51]of ha is so important in Islamic spirituality because individuals who keep
[24:57]this notion in their mind are con constantly Vigilant are constantly observant
[25:02]of their duties before Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala they are worried because Allah
[25:06]waala is watching them therefore only even if they are alone and
[25:12]there is no human being monitoring them they are cognizant of the
[25:16]fact that they will be held accountable by the almighty subhanahu wa
[25:21]ta'ala that's why beautifully our holy fourth IM mentions in Dua AB
[25:37]hamali this masterpiece in Islamic spirituality he says oh Allah I am
[25:45]the one whom when I am by myself I did not display
[25:49]I I was not embarrassed or ashamed to commit sins of course
[25:53]it's not the Imam who is committing the sins but he's speaking
[25:59]on behalf of us on behalf of humankind isn't it that sometimes
[26:02]when we are by ourselves and The Temptations are great we fall
[26:06]into sin that's the first level the second level which is positive
[26:12]ha is to be embarrassed from the people as far as sinning
[26:15]and committing acts of transgression is concerned once in there was an
[26:21]individual who had decided to drink alcohol during the time of the
[26:25]holy prophet the narrations tell us that he was sipping the alcohol
[26:29]in the streets of Medina and all of a sudden he saw
[26:33]the prophet approaching him this reminds me sometimes when uh people some
[26:37]of our youth they have you know these headphones and they are
[26:39]walking in the streets and they see a molana you know they
[26:44]see someone whom they respect or a an important person in society
[26:47]so they say Salam how are you oh you know I'm listening
[26:52]to NOA and I'm listening to Quran yes this particular individual he
[26:55]saw the prophet he panicked that the prophet of Islam is coming
[26:58]so what did he do at that moment he sought forgiveness from
[27:01]Allah he said yaah Allah if you help me I will never
[27:03]drink alcohol again because the prophet of Islam is coming so the
[27:07]prophet came to him and said what is it that you're drinking
[27:08]he said Yol Allah I'm drinking vinegar can you imagine somebody walking
[27:12]around drinking vinegar he said I'm drinking vinegar the prophet said okay
[27:17]let me have a look the prophet took it he said yes
[27:21]it's vinegar this man fell on his knees onto the ground Prophet
[27:24]said what's going on he said Yol Allah this is was alcohol
[27:29]but I don't know how it's turned into vinegar but I sought
[27:32]repentance from Allah subhana wa taala the prophet said this is in
[27:38]line with the Holy Quran because the Quran says there are those
[27:44]who are sincere when it comes to repentance Allah will change their
[27:47]bad deeds into Good Deeds Allah subhana T will switch it it
[27:53]just needs sincerity wholeheartedness commitment in order for this to happen what
[27:57]about the bad ha the bad embarrassment of shame that is when
[28:04]you and I practice acts of transgression Disobedience of Allah or do
[28:09]not follow the commands of Allah because of people so for example
[28:12]you'll find people as far as hijab is concerned they say you
[28:17]know I feel ashamed to wear the hijab or I am amongst
[28:18]a group of people who are necessarily non-muslims and I miss my
[28:21]Salah because I am embarrassed to stand up and perform Salah for
[28:28]example this type of embarrassment shame sometimes it is Haram it is
[28:32]not permissible yet today what is it that we are facing in
[28:36]society especially in the western Society it's the decline of the positive
[28:42]ha the embarrassment more and more we're seeing that mode of modesty
[28:49]and Chastity declining how you look at for example the hijab as
[28:53]an example today we have a sister who's wearing hijab who comes
[28:57]on and gives an interview in a very inappropriate magazine that has
[29:04]a history of explicit material and misogyny today we have cat these
[29:11]fashion walks in New York demonstrating hijab today we have people coming
[29:15]forward and saying that you know I want to model the hijab
[29:17]I want the hijab to be one that fits into society in
[29:21]other words the ethos the background the philosophy of hijab and modesty
[29:27]and is slowly diminishing we losing that why you ask why what
[29:31]are our sisters our youngsters when it comes to the youth our
[29:36]our sisters when it comes to adorning the Islamic dress code of
[29:39]modesty and Chastity why is it that they are following this train
[29:42]some of them I tell you it's because of the pressures they're
[29:45]facing in society not only them all women you read I was
[29:51]reading yesterday in the Toronto Sun here and you read in the
[29:55]BBC yesterday there was another article all these days yes they talk
[29:58]about how there is so much pressure on females to look in
[30:04]a particular way and how many of them are suffering with low
[30:07]self-esteem depression and anxiety because they don't like the way they look
[30:12]because they don't like the way they appear in public there are
[30:17]studies that have been performed yes in the United Kingdom one particular
[30:22]study showed 90% of women don't like the way they look and
[30:25]the Cosmetic industry is thriving isn't it it's all about presenting ourselves
[30:30]in a way that others can approve especially men they can somehow
[30:36]get the recognition but is causing so many problems out there yes
[30:44]that desperation to be included to be somehow molding our faith so
[30:49]that others can accept us at the expense of our faith is
[30:52]very dangerous it's a very concerning Trend yes people out there are
[30:59]looking look for that tap in the back and that recognition I
[31:00]want to look in a way that people tell me I look
[31:05]very nice I look very well yes and they are sacrificing this
[31:08]notion of modesty and the Chastity and the Islamic hijab I tell
[31:15]you and Mark these words if the entire creation from beginning till
[31:19]now till the day of judgment comes forward and likes how we
[31:22]are it does not even come close from one like from Allah
[31:28]subhana wa tala isn't it that the almighty subhanahu wa taala says
[31:33]to us are you looking for some recognition from others are you
[31:41]looking for that kind of support some kind of inclusion for others
[31:46]from others it belongs to Allah today what do we need to
[31:53]do we need to encourage our youngsters our sisters to hold on
[31:57]strongly to their identity not to be pressurized by what is going
[32:03]on around them honestly my dear M brothers and sisters is saddens
[32:06]me when I see what's happening on social media and tomorrow we'll
[32:09]discuss it in detail when I see some of our sisters there
[32:13]is this fascination with selfies and standing in front of the mirror
[32:16]and there is idea of what idea of the depicting of themselves
[32:19]on social media and other ways why is it that's happening we
[32:22]have to be able to tackle these issues and deal with them
[32:25]in the correct manner of course without being judgmental without necessarily driving
[32:29]them away from Faith but to invite them and to say that
[32:35]you know what Islam honors you and you know this sacrifice this
[32:37]idea of the hijab gives you sense of Liberation have to understand
[32:41]why is it that we're wearing the hijab it's not just a
[32:45]piece of clothing that people wear for the sake of it no
[32:48]it comes with a responsibility we have to understand the background behind
[32:52]the hijab isn't it so when it comes to educating our children
[32:57]when it comes to educating our youth this is a responsibility of
[32:59]the parents not only from the member not only the madrasa but
[33:02]to inject them with that self-confidence about their faith that belief about
[33:08]the importance of the religion of Islam and hijab and not to
[33:11]worry about how they look it is not about the looks the
[33:13]Hadith says that Allah will judge you on the day of judgment
[33:17]and especially for our brothers as well yes when they spend hours
[33:20]to get the sixpack it is not about that health is good
[33:26]for the body but it's about the heart yes the Quran says
[33:33]when you come to Allah with that submissive heart that's the first
[33:36]area the second area about the controversy regarding the wife of prophet
[33:41]musam when you examine his biography many scholars have come forward and
[33:49]said there are similarities between Musa and the holy prophet and the
[33:53]Muslim and perhaps that's one of the reasons why he has been
[33:55]mentioned so many times in the Quran one important similarity is with
[33:59]regards to the vice gerant of Musa and the vice jant of
[34:04]our holy beloved Prophet please pay attention to this as it's important
[34:06]of course we are told there are many similarities between and that
[34:23]when Prophet mam left to receive the revelations from Allah subhana wa
[34:29]taala he indeed made Haron in charge of the community yes and
[34:33]he asked Allah subhah wa taala to make or to Grant him
[34:39]his who is his brother yet Haron passed away during the lifetime
[34:46]of the holy prophet Musa he passed time during his he passed
[34:52]away during his lifetime therefore you find that his successor his name
[34:57]is yusa n and yusa n the similarities between him and are
[35:02]striking one one great scholar in his Works he found 60 6
[35:09]Z similarities between and several of them is the following number one
[35:15]y lived 30 years after M so did 30 years after the
[35:23]holy prophet number two yon was marted on the same night many
[35:27]many years ago as Amir I found 15 sources that actually confirm
[35:31]this number three we are told the famous story of Amir when
[35:37]he was coming back from safin and people wanted water and he
[35:40]directed them to a place where there was what water he lifted
[35:44]The Rock yes and there was a Christian priest who said I
[35:47]believe in you because the last individual who declared and showed people
[35:51]where this water was was y yes likewise we are told an
[35:57]individual whom Allah subhana responded to the supplication of M to return
[36:02]the sun back for the for the prayers to take place this
[36:05]was likewise for the prophet of Islam asked Allah subhana wa taala
[36:13]for the son to return so that could perform his Salah yes
[36:18]one other similarity that exists is what is the idea that ybon
[36:27]had to fight the wife of prophet Musa she held had a
[36:30]100,000 soldiers or people and she engaged in a battle after several
[36:38]years of prophet Musa dying she engaged in a battle against y
[36:42]the successor appointed by Allah subhana wa tala of the Prophet mam
[36:46]so therefore some people come forward and say who is this wife
[36:51]of M is it the same wife that the Quran is speaking
[36:53]about safura According to some of the narrations or is it another
[37:00]some have said that it must be the same however we reject
[37:02]this why because the Quran gives a positive image of this lady
[37:06]no doubt that she came in modesty that indeed the Quran tells
[37:13]us that she communicated with the prophet sh and said that he
[37:17]is trustworthy he is strong and therefore it cannot be that it
[37:23]is the same lady whom the Quran is speaking about indeed it
[37:26]must be another wife of Prophet Musa that held a battle and
[37:31]stood against his successor yusa IB n if we examine the Holy
[37:38]Quran we come to an important and a beautiful stage that is
[37:40]described in chapter 20 Surah that shed light upon how marital relationships
[37:48]should be conducted and some important tools to keep them alive and
[37:55]successful in Surah Allah subhana tala tells us that mam made this
[37:59]journey and he was directing himself towards the land of Egypt in
[38:04]order to save B Isel from the wrath of pharaoh the Quran
[38:09]tells us his wife was pregnant yes it is mentioned in narrations
[38:17]that he had a young son who was with them it was
[38:23]dark at night it was cold and she began to feel the
[38:25]pain of Labor can you imagine mam was also lost he could
[38:30]not find the way because he took a different way towards Egypt
[38:33]so that he's not found out because he was still a fugitive
[38:38]so to speak even though 10 years had passed the Quran says
[38:41]he saw fire from far what did he do the Quran could
[38:45]have told us that as soon as he saw fire he approached
[38:47]it and Allah subhana wa ta'ala spoke to him from that particular
[38:53]tree or looked like a fire but the Quran tells us something
[38:59]else it tells us MSA made special effort to communicate with his
[39:04]wife and tell her what he is about to do he said
[39:15]to his wife wait I have seen fire did it stop there
[39:20]no M went on to explain now please understand this the Quran
[39:24]does not mention a letter without it being relevant and important for
[39:31]all ages till the day of judgment the Quran mentions this this
[39:35]conversation between M and his wife for a reason it is saying
[39:37]to you and I the importance of communication between the husband and
[39:42]wife honesty trustworthiness Integrity between the husband and wife mam took the
[39:52]responsibility of conversing with his wife speaking with his wife telling her
[39:57]what he is about to do and this element of communication is
[40:00]of the utmost importance today those who study the marital relationships between
[40:06]husband and wife they see the potential problems and the breakdowns in
[40:13]their relationships that happen due to issues associated with communication yes it
[40:17]seems to be one that causes many problems in many places in
[40:23]many socities and indeed working hard on communication skills and enhancing ing
[40:27]them brings about fruitful results as far as marital setups is concerned
[40:36]I remember reading and incidentally this particular individual passed away yesterday the
[40:41]one who holds the world record for the longest marriage his name
[40:46]is Karam Chand and his wife is K katari Chand from the
[40:52]UK and don't ask me why I memorize their name now this
[40:58]particular individual has been Mar for 90 years 90 he passed away
[41:02]yesterday 110 years of age yes now because he holds the world
[41:06]record for the most years anybody has got married and he's still
[41:12]alive when he was alive they was interviewed with his wife they
[41:14]came to him and said how did you last 90 years or
[41:18]at that time he was 80 84 years that they had been
[41:23]married asked him what is the recipe for success of your marriage
[41:26]how did you keep it alive for such a long time his
[41:29]wife said one word chapati you might be surprised when somebody asked
[41:37]her what do you mean she said that I know that my
[41:44]husband loves when I prepare this particular meal and I often place
[41:48]my half or the half of my chapati towards him because I
[41:54]know it brings about a sense of happiness and we work hard
[41:57]to to keep each other happy yes the idea that emerges is
[42:02]what is that when it comes to communication it's an art and
[42:06]like many other skills it needs to be developed it needs to
[42:11]be enhanced people often ask the question how do I ensure that
[42:16]I understand the other in a relationship and make sure that I
[42:20]am communicating effectively because I tell you there are so many examples
[42:24]today of a breakdown in marital relationships because of the lack of
[42:28]understanding of how for example males and females communicate how they like
[42:37]to communicate what is it that they sometimes say and what they
[42:42]actually mean let me give you an example some of our brothers
[42:45]often have this particular perception they say our wives they talk too
[42:49]much you know they're constantly wishing to talk and I've come back
[42:56]tired you know I'm not in the mood to engage in a
[42:57]conversation what is the background behind this there is a interesting book
[43:02]and there are several books that discuss the idea of communication and
[43:07]the difference between husband and wife or males and females one of
[43:12]them is called what women want men to know in this particular
[43:16]book the author is a a world-renowned uh marital psychologist has sold
[43:24]millions of copies of this particular book she argues in the book
[43:27]that there are key aspects that the man needs to know about
[43:33]what about the woman and the way she likes to communicate let's
[43:37]look at a few examples the first thing is notice and take
[43:43]this particular example that once a man or the husband is sitting
[43:46]and they have finished the meal and they go to the TV
[43:51]they switch on the TV immediately the wife looks and says you
[43:54]know uh can we talk the husband immediately looks at and says
[44:00]is everything okay the first thing that comes to the mind of
[44:02]the husband is there is a problem when the wife says can
[44:04]we talk yes but the argument or the presentation here is that
[44:09]no when it comes to the female there is this tendency or
[44:13]there is the need to talk in order to connect they feel
[44:18]that through talking they enhanced what they enhanced the connection there is
[44:23]no need necessarily to talk because it is argued that males are
[44:28]goal orientated whereas females are process orientated that as far as males
[44:35]was concerned all they think about is the outcome is the result
[44:38]is the solution whereas as far as females are concerned they believe
[44:43]and the importance of words is crucial yes talking has a number
[44:50]of objectives when it comes to our sisters for example it is
[44:54]argued in these studies and more that for instance word have a
[44:58]powerful way when it comes to communication that's why our holy beloved
[45:11]prophet he comes forward and says that when the husband says to
[45:17]his wife I love you this will never leave her heart by
[45:19]the way don't misunderstand this Hadith because once a brother came to
[45:25]me and said I have a problem with my wife we have
[45:27]been having conflicts for a long time I said have you expressed
[45:31]love towards her he said I said yes he said yes I
[45:33]said when he said 20 years ago I said why he said
[45:37]the prophet said you say it once it stays in a heart
[45:41]I don't need to say it anymore it's not the correct understanding
[45:43]of the Hadith of the holy prophet the prophet of Islam says
[45:46]communicate with your wife express your love not only through words but
[45:50]through gifts and it doesn't necessarily have to be anniversaries or birthdays
[45:55]or special occasions surprise her for example and like requ for the
[45:59]wife but we are told in these studies that words are of
[46:01]great importance that when it comes to for example our sisters they
[46:04]like to express themselves loudly that is why they like to talk
[46:11]it is mentioned that they have details when they communicate they like
[46:15]mentioning details this talking helps to relieve tension according to this particular
[46:21]author and likewise when they are upset sometimes when they are upset
[46:25]and for example the husband says you don't look happy happy she
[46:28]would say it's okay that this okay doesn't mean the husband says
[46:34]okay fine I leave you to it no it means no what
[46:39]is going on the the female likes that they are pressed when
[46:43]they are upset on the other side the male when you and
[46:46]I as males when we are upset what happens we go into
[46:50]our own caves we like to switch off we like to forget
[46:56]the problems yes whereas the of communicating with the other in this
[46:59]regard needs to be understood couples others who want to get married
[47:05]should read should enhance their knowledge about effective communication ways that they
[47:11]can communicate each other understand that males and females are indeed different
[47:15]another key feature that we'll end with is what is the importance
[47:21]of love that the Quran says Allah subhah wa ta'ala infuses and
[47:25]places love between the husband and wife yes he has placed this
[47:33]this Affinity this compassion between the husband and wife yet today's Studies
[47:39]have shown just like how we have Arabic English Gujarati swah all
[47:43]these languages that you and I communicate with as far using when
[47:48]it comes to each other there are also languages of love what
[47:51]does this mean please pay attention to a few moments on this
[47:54]because it's very crucial to ensure a happy marriage successful relationship when
[48:00]it comes to love there are languages that human beings display and
[48:05]exhibit when it comes to how they express love and how they
[48:08]wish to be loved you know common problems that happen is that
[48:12]the wife complains that the husband does not spend time for example
[48:16]or the husband does not listen and the husband says no I
[48:19]have taken her on holidays vacations I have provided her what she
[48:23]needs it is obvious that they have love between each other but
[48:26]then not expressing the love towards each other in the right manner
[48:30]that's why there is a famous book known as the five love
[48:35]languages by a man by the name of Gary Chapman he comes
[48:37]forward and he says human beings they exhibit and like to be
[48:45]loved one of five ways and he invites husbands and wives to
[48:49]understand what is their language of love how would you like to
[48:55]be loved yes so he says for example that first is words
[48:58]of affirmation meaning what meaning that for some individuals hearing the correct
[49:05]word is of the greatest of importance it's important to mention it
[49:10]at the right time yes whereas insults or generalization you never do
[49:16]this I have never seen you this hurts them greatly yes if
[49:21]this is there main love language that's number one words of affirmation
[49:27]second some people their love language is acts of service how sometimes
[49:31]they like it when the husband and the wife does something which
[49:35]they do not normally do like for example if our brothers perform
[49:40]the household chores you know the narrations tell us that the holy
[49:45]prophet came inside the house of and peace be upon them and
[49:50]he saw what sweeping the floor and in another occasion sing the
[49:55]pulses yes and then the prophet of this is found in the
[49:58]famous book of he says any husband who helps his wife in
[50:04]the household chores Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala for Every Act of assistance gives
[50:09]them palaces in Jenna in accordance with the number of veins they
[50:14]have in their body so much help yes and the sisters now
[50:19]are happy no doubt the idea therefore exists is the act of
[50:22]service is deemed to be important laziness on the other hand is
[50:25]one that is deemed to be problematic if the love language is
[50:30]acts of service third is gifts some people like to receive gifts
[50:34]yes and not any gifts it needs to be one that the
[50:39]effort has been placed it needs to be a thoughtful gift when
[50:41]a gift is something which is inconsiderate or without any thoughtfulness it
[50:46]hurts number four is quality time some people there love language in
[50:51]order to be loved they want time spent which is quality means
[50:58]with no distraction no phone complete undivided attention yes and conversely when
[51:04]an individual attempts to spend time and takes this matter lightly this
[51:08]hurts this is somehow a problem if the individual likes quality time
[51:15]and the final one is considered to be physical touch yes not
[51:20]everybody necessarily likes the physical touch but neglect of this sometimes also
[51:25]causes problems therefore what do we find we find that inspirationally from
[51:28]the story of prophet m.
[51:30]we learn the significance and the importance of mastering the art of
[51:36]communication indeed the Quran tells us another beautiful element about MSA as
[51:42]far as marriage is concerned or one that can be used about
[51:47]marriage and that's what and that is when he was with Prophet
[51:50]when made this hole in the ship yes M objected and said
[51:57]what he said are you making this hole so that the people
[52:03]who are on this ship would sink and who give you the
[52:11]profound meanings of the Quran they say m did not say are
[52:13]you making this hole so that we sink he said so that
[52:19]the people sink because Musa was concerned more about the people in
[52:23]the ship than himself he displayed an act of altruism he thought
[52:28]of others before himself and I tell you one problem that happens
[52:33]in marital relationships is what is the fact that the ego gets
[52:37]in between the husband and the wife that sometimes they treat each
[52:40]other as what as enemies as adversaries and not as best of
[52:47]friends no doubt that when we look at the best example history
[52:50]has given us of a marital relationship that of and indeed we
[53:06]are inspired because this pure household are wonderful example to learn from
[53:11]in all the correct and the Beautiful virtues and characteristics of a
[53:16]successful marriage but one thing stood out and that is altruism the
[53:20]thinking of others before themselves we have heard of the story of
[53:25]the necklace the story of the wedding dress the story mentioned in
[53:28]Surah insan of the feeding of the poor of the captive yes
[53:34]and of course the the orphan over 3 days this constant placing
[53:39]others before themselves is a Hallmark of the Blessed household of and
[53:46]and that's where peace and blessings be upon Him grew and learned
[53:52]these generous wonderful beautiful qualities isn't it that we are told when
[53:58]it comes to what the holy prophet of Islam he would say
[54:00]to the Muslims he would say that the best amongst you is
[54:06]the best with his family isn't it and I saw this being
[54:09]portrayed in America in a van that was moving around and made
[54:15]this Hadith evident for people to follow and to read and it
[54:18]said under it the name of the holy prophet and it inspired
[54:22]people yes it's in brought people towards this particular Hadith that the
[54:26]best amongst you is the one who treats their family in the
[54:29]most courteous and respectful and sacrificial manner no doubt that's why you
[54:33]find that say sh peace be upon Him demonstrated these qualities in
[54:41]so many occasions yes including his conduct and the way he dealt
[54:47]with his enemies we are told on his journey towards carala he
[54:51]was confronted with the army of when he had to face them
[55:00]it was time for Salah he performed the Salah and he led
[55:03]the prayers but the narration tell us that he had water in
[55:07]the Caravan and the campside of ab Abdullah had water yet the
[55:10]Thousand or so Army of had no water they were thirsty one
[55:16]Army member of H said that I was thirsty I came across
[55:18]the campsite of Hussein I saw a man who's standing there I
[55:25]looked at him he said to me lower yourself and I did
[55:29]not understand his hijazi dialect or accent he explained himself then I
[55:34]lowered myself then he fed me water then he said bring down
[55:40]your horse and I B down my horse and he fed the
[55:41]horse water then I went away when I reached my army or
[55:46]the site of my army they looked at me and they said
[55:51]do you know who that man is I said no I don't
[55:52]know it was somebody who helped me and gave me water they
[55:57]he said that is the son of Fatima that is Hussein Ali
[56:03]yes indeed IM would treat even his enemies in this particular way
[56:09]and that's why on the 10th of the narrations tell us that
[56:15]he looked atar and he heard the cries of abdah he heard
[56:19]the calls to assist IM Hussein the narration says that he looked
[56:25]at Omar and said ohar are you going to kill this man
[56:32]are you going to actually fight this man and said by God
[56:35]we will do so until the heads are decapitated and the arms
[56:41]are chopped off at that moment this honorable individual Al begins to
[56:48]walk back and forth man looks at him and says oh I
[56:54]see that you doubtful I see that you are somehow uncertain what
[56:58]is wrong with you says I am choosing between hell and heaven
[57:06]all of a sudden he mounts his horse and says by Allah
[57:12]I will never choose anything over Jen he marches towards the campsite
[57:18]of IM Hussein he calls out yah Allah I am the one
[57:24]who is The Sinner so please forgive me I am the one
[57:26]who placed fear in the heart of the family of your prophet
[57:34]he reaches close to the campside of IM Hussein comes out Al
[57:40]looks ATD he says my master oh grandson of the holy prophet
[57:45]I have come to seek pardon I have come to seek forgiveness
[57:51]and is there a chance that I am given Toba Imus says
[57:59]yes definitely Allah subhanahu wa taala will forgive you at that moment
[58:04]Al says then says ydah then give me an opportunity and permission
[58:08]now to go to the battlefield and to fight and to sacrifice
[58:12]my life IM Hussein gives him the permission Al goes he fights
[58:17]courageously he falls he is struck and IM Hussein rushes towards him
[58:25]he sits next to him he says oh you are indeed free
[58:28]in this world and free in but what im Hussein did at
[58:37]that moment is truly heartbreaking Imam saw that the forehead of was
[58:43]bleeding Imam takes a piece of cloth and he covers the forehead
[58:46]of Al to stop the forehead from the bleeding I say to
[58:53]him you are concerned with the head of Al but I tell
[59:01]you what happened to your blessed head the narrations tell us that
[59:05]the head of Imam Hussein was placed on a spear handled by
[59:12]the army of yazid carelessly the head would fall onto the ground
[59:17]the horses would trample upon it the narrations tell us that on
[59:25]the way to Sham a Christian priest saw light emerging from an
[59:31]area that the campsite and the Caravan of the bit had stopped
[59:35]he came he asked them what is going on they said these
[59:40]are the prisoners that we have captured he said whose head is
[59:43]this they said this is the head of Hussein he said who
[59:48]is Hussein they said this is the head of the grandson of
[59:54]the holy prophet he gives them money and says I beg you
[59:57]give give me the head for one night let me look after
[60:01]the head for one night they give him the head of ab
[60:03]abdah he washes the head he perfumes the head then he looks
[60:09]at the Blessed head he starts to cry and plead and says
[60:16]I ask you by the name of Jesus talk to me tell
[60:17]me who are you and what happened the narrations tell us that
[60:24]the head of abdah speaks it says if you want to know
[60:27]who I [Applause] am I am the grandson of mustfa I am
[60:43]the the son of and I am the son of that moment
[60:47]the priest said what happened tell me IM responds all says I
[60:54]am the one who fled on the plains ofal I am the
[61:04]M who is M thirsty allahar the narrations tell us what happened
[61:09]to this head yes in the mag of yaid looks at the
[61:15]head he starts to poke the head of with a stick he
[61:21]pokes the face of Hussein he pokes the eyes of Hussein that
[61:24]he pokes the mouth of Hussein a man who was there who
[61:29]is a companion of the Prophet shouts yah yazid Take Your Filthy
[61:35]Hands away I saw Embrace that head I saw kiss that head
[61:40]take your hands away at that moment the wife of yazid hind
[61:47]emerges she comes out she sees a number of women sitting at
[61:51]that particular place she doesn't know these people are she comes and
[62:00]sits next to say Z this lady H was a servant in
[62:02]the house of Fatima and Ali she knew the she looks at
[62:09]Z she doesn't recognize her she says where are you from say
[62:15]says we are from Medina she says then you must know the
[62:19]household of Ali tell me what happened how are they where are
[62:25]they tell me where is Hussein where is abas at that moment
[62:32]say Z says if you want to know where Hussein is then
[62:36]your husband is poking his face if you want to know where
