[0:28]i hope everyone is doing well and staying warm despite the circumstances
[0:33]hopefully that fire reaches you if not then the iman the flame
[0:39]and fire and warmth of your faith will keep you warm insha'allah
[0:42]until we break for salat that being said our discussion today will
[0:48]revolve around the very interesting and intriguing comparison between two legendary men
[0:56]of these two legendary figures played integral roles in the spreading and
[1:16]disseminating of the message of god and the imam of their time
[1:21]for both indeed had leaders they aspired to make sure their message
[1:26]was spread far and wide and protected and preserved when we look
[1:34]into the days leading up to the holy month of muharram whether
[1:37]it is we will often notice the followers and lovers of abba
[1:43]abdullah hussain spiritually preparing themselves for the month of muharram and the
[1:52]sea of lessons and wisdom it has to offer primarily ashura by
[1:54]getting ready to read the various supplications within the months of the
[2:01]likes such as because we are discussing so many people are during
[2:06]hajj at that time however when you look at imam hussain himself
[2:12]leading up to the days of ashura he wasn't necessarily focusing on
[2:18]ash for example or the various other supplications we always love to
[2:27]recite and rightfully so leading up to the holy month of muharram
[2:30]he was actually focusing on one primary primarily one individual that imam
[2:35]zainul would say my father abba abdullah the days leading up to
[2:44]muharram while especially traveling to karbala he would constantly be seen remembering
[2:54]he would constantly mention and make mention of his merits his sacrifice
[3:00]always whereas we don't give too much time on yahya or john
[3:07]the baptist especially during the days in which we honor sayudusuhada let's
[3:12]ask ourselves who was say himself honoring who was he looking at
[3:18]who is he taking examples from and we find as mentioned mentions
[3:24]that my father would make mention and remember constantly an indication as
[3:35]to the sacrifice that abba abdullah himself will come and perform because
[3:41]the similarities between these two legendary men are uncanny indeed when we
[3:47]look at the verses of the holy quran many verses mention the
[3:50]merits of yahya and the blessing that he was and how allah
[3:55]commands him to take the book with strength take the word of
[4:06]god or the book of god with strength meaning muster of courage
[4:11]be courageous and brave and we have given him the leadership we
[4:18]made him a leader for the people we've given him the rule
[4:24]the hokum governance while he was a young young man actually he
[4:27]was a kid a young boy but with the role and responsibilities
[4:32]of disseminating god's message abba abdullah would constantly be seen mentioning him
[4:38]why is that the case the obvious answer is while ultimately like
[4:42]yahi abnu zakaria or john the baptist say you do himself would
[4:47]also be martyred he would also be slain as well by the
[4:54]evil tyrannical ruler of his time but the similarities go farther than
[4:59]that or actually further than that brothers and sisters let's examine a
[5:03]unique verse of the holy quran that we should definitely be mentioning
[5:07]more and more these days says indeed those who believed allah is
[5:30]addressing the muslims following the muslims of the jews so yahood in
[5:36]that form and context wasabi on and those who are savings and
[5:43]the christians whoever believed in god did good and achieved great things
[5:51]for him they don't need to have any fear nor will they
[5:54]grieve they are going to a good place meaning they are all
[5:56]kitab people of the book and allah promises them no need to
[6:02]fear and they will be destined for greatness to come there is
[6:05]a particular group in that list however because today are you that
[6:09]person when questioned who are kitab what will you say primarily the
[6:15]response are three people who are they the muslims the muslims right
[6:21]we follow the book of god the christians they follow the bible
[6:28]and the jews they follow the torah these are what does it
[6:32]mean to be from kitab it means that you are someone whom
[6:36]intermarrying can happen that's allowed or you are someone that is not
[6:40]considered spiritually impure negis because you recognize the oneness of allah let's
[6:48]say and many similarities underlining similarities that we share prophets who we
[6:51]revere and venerate so on and so forth but that's basically the
[6:54]end of it no one adds the third category of people that
[6:59]allah added who are the savions because they're mentioned in over three
[7:07]different times of the holy quran by name the sabbath the sabians
[7:18]they are a collective of them of their own however never mentioned
[7:23]by many of us as the category of kitab or amongst that
[7:27]category the sabians to break it down we begin with in the
[7:32]latina we are from the followers of rasulullah muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam
[7:40]following then the jews followers of the abrahamic way of noah of
[7:48]not christ but musa and david and so on then the sabians
[7:54]who do they stem back as the primary prophet in their religion
[7:58]one can say the primary prophet in islam is the holy prophet
[8:02]of islam definitely there's no doubt about that and for the christians
[8:07]jesus and for the jews moses abraham but what about the sabians
[8:09]wasabi as them so basically they follow as the final prophet to
[8:21]their main message yes there is a group that take profit john
[8:25]the baptist as the final last prophet they are called the what
[8:30]the sabians now if you look them up online they are called
[8:34]the mandiants sometimes the saviors in general these are various titles for
[8:40]them ultimately these are individuals who god has said and addressed them
[8:44]no need to fear you do good and you believe in the
[8:49]last day and believe in me you are destined for paradise eventually
[8:52]how come the reality is not many people can tell you much
[8:57]about this group many of us can respond and say yes we
[8:59]can tell you who the prophets each and every group of these
[9:04]religions refer back to maybe even the books maybe even some underlining
[9:07]similarities or differences between comparing religions but not much about the sabians
[9:13]let's examine these individuals so that we are not from the ignorant
[9:17]when it comes to religious pluralism brothers and sisters because that is
[9:20]the world we live in today and it is a blessing to
[9:24]live in a world where we see the various walks of life
[9:26]through culture nationalities and yes even beliefs and ideologies so long as
[9:32]we can unify each other under the same umbrella of humanity the
[9:37]sabians as mentioned they stem back to yahya zakaria and this individual
[9:44]who say is constantly seen to have mentioned up until yom al-ashar
[9:48]and even on the 10th day of muharram he does mention him
[9:51]a few times as a form of remembrance they as mentioned they
[9:55]take nabi allah yahya as their main prophets however they do not
[10:00]take prophet jesus as a legitimate prophet of god one might say
[10:04]that's pretty interesting because yahya if you understand some biblical history yahya
[10:10]and isa jesus and john the baptist are contemporaries are they not
[10:16]moreover they are relatives in which way how is yahiyah related to
[10:20]prophet isa alaihissalam and this is a trivia question we were always
[10:25]asked when i was younger i remember not so much these days
[10:29]how is yahiyah related to jesus what is the relation can anyone
[10:33]volunteer to share that can anyone volunteer to share the answer yahya's
[10:37]connection to jesus what is the family and they unders any uh
[10:41]person you know what they say if no one calls what does
[10:46]the teacher usually do they pick but i'll spare you inshallah is
[10:50]considered jesus's cousin however his mother nebula his mother she goes by
[10:59]the name of elizabeth would be according to many books of literature
[11:08]literature and historians is the cousin of ne of sayida maryam alayhi
[11:15]her mother various books describe her to be called an lady an
[11:20]ann and elizabeth were sisters both of them marry prophets of god
[11:26]so they they got really lucky they did really well they married
[11:28]prophets of god lady and who did she marry imran maryam bint
[11:33]imran or in biblical texts jericho emerald and lady elizabeth married zakaria
[11:42]this guy's also a prophet of god to the highest degree very
[11:45]well respected and elizabeth they couldn't have a son for a very
[11:49]long time and the quran makes reference to this that he is
[11:53]told by allah that you are destined to have a boy and
[11:58]he responded how my lord when my hair and this is an
[12:02]expression of old age has been burning white you see if you
[12:07]look at see that charcoal right there we have a visual description
[12:12]guys hey look you see the charcoal is burning as it burns
[12:15]the black turns white he's like my hair he uses the same
[12:20]word he says my hair has been burning it became white there's
[12:22]nothing left of me how am i to have a son the
[12:26]older you get the likelihood of having a child a healthy child
[12:30]decreases and not just that my wife is an old lady as
[12:34]well and so allah says i can do whatever i feel like
[12:38]doing and your sign that your son will be born is what
[12:40]you must stay silent for three days stay silent and do not
[12:46]communicate except by using signals say like you point with your hand
[12:49]like that or when you go and pray and do tasbih these
[12:51]are the only moments you are to to speak otherwise prophet zechariah
[12:56]you do not speak after three days your son will be born
[12:59]and then he was gifted yahya allah makes reference here in the
[13:09]holy we have never named anyone before him this name it comes
[13:14]from various derivatives from the hebrew bible from syriac aramaic and in
[13:19]arabic one can even find the root you what you meet we
[13:23]can say that you're he alive living allah gave him life he
[13:28]gave him a son by the name of yahya never before that
[13:30]moment we find anyone using or having that name you notice one
[13:38]similarity here in which sense no one was named hussain before abba
[13:43]abdullah was named hussein no one was named hussein if you look
[13:48]in history the irony of all ironies and i always i can't
[13:51]help but laugh sometimes that when you look at al-hasani and al-hussein
[13:57]abba abdullah and his brother imam al-hassan how beautiful is the name
[14:01]hassan it means goodness it means glad tidings it's a wonderful wonderful
[14:06]name right you would think these arabs for thousands of years having
[14:10]kids left friends not one would think let me name my son
[14:13]goodness no one thought that they would give them the weirdest names
[14:16]i remember one time there was a man who approached the holy
[14:23]prophet by the name of the bald headed one i don't know
[14:25]what these mothers were thinking when they were naming their kids he
[14:28]approached the holy prophet of islam and he said to me i
[14:31]see you and he was a muslim i see you kissing your
[14:35]kids hasan and hussain and hugging them i have 10 kids i
[14:39]don't kiss one of them allah said if you do not show
[14:42]mercy to the creation how do you expect the lord to show
[14:45]mercy to you children mercy these are your kids man and so
[14:50]you find the irony is al-hasan was also the first to be
[14:54]named al-hasan imam al-hasan al-islam no one before was called hassan no
[14:58]one you guys couldn't have thought of a good name i mean
[15:00]seriously anyways likewise hussein abba abdullah his name no one before muslims
[15:07]are saying likewise yahya another similarity when elizabeth was pregnant she gave
[15:16]birth to yahya when she was seven or six months into the
[15:20]pregnancy so it was born he was born prematurely one would say
[15:24]six months after she had gone pregnant she went into labor and
[15:32]she had nebula islam or john the baptist same exact situation six
[15:36]months into the pregnancy ladies both born after six months both were
[15:47]not given that name beforehand let's look at their lifestyles the more
[15:52]we compare the more similarities and one can't help but say that
[15:56]they are just uncanny between these two and then we will understand
[15:59]why say it constantly makes mention of his merits you look at
[16:06]nebula what's his title in what we understand in the biblical genre
[16:11]and the biblical lexicon john the baptist christians who speak arabic chaldeans
[16:18]let's say those who read the arabic bible we'll see that is
[16:25]the title given to john the baptist or yahweh why what does
[16:32]baptism mean baptism is that a practice ordained by allah doesn't have
[16:36]place and merit in the theology of the lord or no because
[16:40]he is known for this one thing being baptized he could have
[16:44]been called yahyada martyr because he was martyred but this attribute here
[16:47]why for why is that the case and did it even happen
[16:50]because as we understand the book of god is the holy quran
[16:55]and the quran comes to critique various books that came in the
[17:00]past the books of allah are the bible and they are the
[17:04]torah but after years of mingling and manipulation and fabrication by various
[17:12]leaders we do not necessarily have the authentic preservation of these holy
[17:16]texts so the quran gives us a clear image of what the
[17:20]reality truly is unfiltered pretty much and so we look at the
[17:24]title of john the baptist baptism basically is a spiritual ceremonial act
[17:30]of submerging oneself in water or submerging a newborn into water to
[17:36]spiritually purify one's body and according to islamic books of literature this
[17:41]was a practice at the time during the era of nabi of
[17:44]prophet isa alaihissalam and a little bit before his era and so
[17:48]we found this was ordained by the prophets of allah but it
[17:52]no longer is why because as a new religion comes or a
[17:57]new perspective on religion emerges like islam let's say because the quran
[18:01]describes nebula ibrahim as not a jew nor was he christian but
[18:05]he was a muslim on the way of allah but i thought
[18:09]islam came in the 6th century or 7th century arabian peninsula no
[18:13]because muslim means to submit oneself and so they were all muslims
[18:16]in that understanding but as time goes on various additions and subtractions
[18:22]are necessary in order to culminate the ideal muslim world until the
[18:29]cherry on top on top came which was the mission of islam
[18:31]and perfected that message therefore we find at one point baptism was
[18:37]a reality previous to this during the time of prophet muhammed there
[18:42]were concepts that we practiced which they didn't practice at the time
[18:48]for example to consume the white fat in red meat was forbidden
[18:54]during the teachings of prophet musa moses he did not make it
[18:58]permissible to eat the fat of any animal whatsoever if you try
[19:02]to live that lifestyle today you're better off going vegan because that's
[19:05]very difficult to do to remove any any sort of whiteness in
[19:08]the meat will be hard to do at that time we find
[19:12]in books of literature it makes mention prophet moses made this a
[19:16]rule and a way to perhaps discipline in a way to perhaps
[19:20]really set the foundation strong until prophet jesus or the later prophets
[19:25]of god came they made sure to add some of these rulings
[19:28]to subtract some of them some say why do you have to
[19:32]add subtract why can't you just begin the mission of islam from
[19:35]day one we began the mission of islam day one with prophet
[19:40]adam and they open the quran and it says who's this what
[19:46]are these things when they haven't even emerged therefore society needs that
[19:51]ripening to happen such that we can optimally understand the true meaning
[19:57]and blessings and wisdom and principles of every single hokum of allah
[20:03]prophet yahya or john the baptist at the time baptism was a
[20:07]practice what does it represent spiritual purification like how we perform rusoil
[20:11]on the days of eid or on today if you guys did
[20:16]the friday prayer the ritual bathing for what spiritual purification and one
[20:21]does it by submerging themselves he was baptized by whom prophet jesus
[20:32]is born a few years after yahya so they are not too
[20:37]many years apart but yeah yeah john the baptist is a little
[20:40]bit older than jesus and so when he was born he became
[20:43]a young man and jesus was alongside him and then jesus wanted
[20:48]to baptize nabi yahya and so they went to the jordanian river
[20:53]and there was a picture today an iconography of jesus and yahya
[20:58]these middle-aged men one baptizing the other in the river if you
[21:02]look it up you'll find it this depiction in according to islamic
[21:06]history and ulama actually happened where jesus submerged prophet yahya into the
[21:12]jordanian river and then libya yahya also baptized jesus and that's where
[21:18]he got the title john the baptist he was baptized by a
[21:21]prophet and then he also baptized the prophets these two baptize one
[21:25]another it's a form of ritual spiritual cleansing and he got that
[21:31]title although during his life he never saw jesus as much as
[21:34]he would have liked to why because nabi is born after about
[21:39]a few years his mother mary had to take him to egypt
[21:44]to stay away from the king at the time who was very
[21:50]violent against him according to islamic and biblical history there were these
[21:53]individuals called the maggie these guys were three wise men you may
[21:58]have seen them in christmas where these old wise guys come and
[22:00]they hold like a little baby and you're thinking who are these
[22:04]men and there's this guy and mary's who are these individuals when
[22:08]jesus was to be born there was a prophecy people knew of
[22:11]a coming of this prophet like how the prophet of islam people
[22:15]understood his coming and so the jews and christians moved to medina
[22:19]to get closer to him why were they there anyways what what
[22:22]benefit is it for a jewish or a christian individual to leave
[22:28]judea palestine beautiful area or egypt the nile and go in the
[22:32]middle of the desert so in rasulullah got to medina if you
[22:33]guys recall and he performed this who did he see there benue
[22:39]jewish tribes christian tribes what were they doing there anyways come to
[22:44]think of it ask yourself they were awaiting the prophet there was
[22:48]a prophecy in their holy text likewise the maggie these are wise
[22:52]men who are awaiting the coming of jesus and they knew he
[22:55]was to come when they heard of his birth they went to
[22:58]judea books of history say we don't know where they came from
[23:01]except that they came from the east so the arabian peninsula somewhere
[23:06]and so they arrived towards to judea to see this prophet at
[23:11]in his infancy when they arrived to judea they went to the
[23:16]king named herad they asked him o king we heard that the
[23:18]prophet was born the messiah was born here herrod was scared because
[23:22]when a king is threatened by a baby we've seen this movie
[23:27]before you can have a moosa versus for our own situation occur
[23:30]so what does the mom have to do doesn't want to cast
[23:36]jesus one can imagine and be away from him so she's like
[23:38]no no i'm taking him with me and she went to egypt
[23:41]and she stayed there for about four or nine years actually nine
[23:46]years or so prophet yahya john the baptist wasn't around during that
[23:51]time period and jesus was known to travel a lot amongst the
[23:56]titles of jesus is al-masih it comes from multiple words that one
[24:00]can wipe over the heads of others yamsa allah says travel the
[24:21]world when he addresses the disbelievers anyways prophet jesus alison was known
[24:29]to travel a lot and he went to lubna at one point
[24:34]our dear lebanese brothers and sisters should be excited about that he
[24:36]went to lebanon he went to egypt he went to various parts
[24:41]of the world some historians even indicate he made it to arab
[24:44]in the euphrates river he traveled the world and when he would
[24:47]travel imam ali gives us a beautiful description about him the description
[24:51]of jesus from the lips of ali what a beautiful description he
[24:57]would say shall i tell you about jesus his servants were his
[25:00]hands his form of transportation were his feet and when he mentions
[25:04]his feet all books indicate he would always be barefoot meaning he
[25:09]would constantly be traveling the man would always travel the world spreading
[25:14]the good word of god nebi yahya loved jesus however he didn't
[25:19]have that much opportunity to spend time with him and so he
[25:23]was the prophet previous to jesus he was older than nabi allah
[25:30]he would be away for some time and yahya would be in
[25:35]judea where modern day philistine is and at the time this king
[25:41]named herod or hera the great he was approached by his wife
[25:44]and she had made it complaining she would complain to him constantly
[25:48]she had said to him listen you are not giving me a
[25:51]son you don't have a kid a boy you might have a
[25:55]daughter but i need a son from you in order to preserve
[25:57]our king our kingdom and we need to make sure that this
[26:01]succession ship is passed towards your son this only happens when you
[26:05]have a boy not a girl and no matter how hard you
[26:08]try you can't have a boy and she would constantly basically nag
[26:10]at him we need a son we need a son they've been
[26:13]trying for years they haven't succeeded and so she realizes that it
[26:19]might be my situation that is preventing him from having a boy
[26:22]so she begins to suggest to the king how about you don't
[26:26]have a child with me let me suggest to you someone i
[26:31]think your niece and she said to the king your niece and
[26:34]this is an immoral act obviously unethical your niece would be very
[26:39]good to bury you a son she's a teenager she's in her
[26:43]youth she's probably energetic and she wanted to convince her husband how
[26:46]about you try having a kid with your niece and we all
[26:50]understand that's immoral that's unethical that's wrong to the highest degree in
[26:53]any religion any worldview so what did the king decide to do
[26:59]herrod the great he's like you know what this doesn't sound right
[27:00]let me go consult the greatest scholar of my time the merjah
[27:05]at the time who was that who would that be nebula he
[27:09]goes and asks nabi allah john the baptist he goes and he
[27:14]asks him can i do this said no this is not moral
[27:17]you can't do that it's not right he went back and he
[27:22]told his wife this is the situation he said i can't say
[27:24]what are you talking about go ask him again he goes and
[27:27]he comes back and the answer was no one day his wife
[27:31]gets the king very drunk and she presents his niece to him
[27:37]and they commit an immoral act they committed adultery at that moment
[27:40]then they bring nebula yahya to make him acclaim and legitimize this
[27:45]relationship he says i want you to say that what we had
[27:49]done this relationship is halal in the eyes of god admit it
[27:53]now nebula said no no matter what you say i will not
[27:57]admit such a thing he says if you don't admit i will
[27:59]kill you he's like i don't care and at that moment in
[28:02]court nebula was beheaded according to various traditions the holy head of
[28:09]john the baptist began to speak and continue the claim what you
[28:14]have done was immoral or what you had done was unlawful would
[28:19]constantly be speaking even after his beheading we find this moment brothers
[28:25]and sisters also another one of these underlining similarities between yahya and
[28:32]who say you do for refined like spoke against the tyrant of
[28:40]his time what did he also do he was also not willing
[28:44]to succumb even if the king forced death upon him and what
[28:47]then happened both of them were beheaded afterwards what then happened the
[28:52]heads of both according to various sources actually began to speak and
[28:57]said was known to have spoken a few times on the way
[29:02]to the court of yazid and nibiru his head was spoken in
[29:07]the same court nebu today where he is buried is also very
[29:12]interesting if you go and you see the castle of the ammowitz
[29:20]you'll find that there is a shrine inside in modern day surya
[29:27]damascus you find the tomb of john the baptist the same court
[29:31]they brought the head of sayyidushu was the same court that nebula
[29:36]was also had his head displayed for all those to see had
[29:42]a group of followers as mentioned by the name of the sabians
[29:45]he basically instructed and taught a various various individuals on the way
[29:51]of god and they followed him the word sabian or the sabe
[29:55]comes from the word has various meanings in the aramaic original language
[30:03]however in adobe it means to transfer or transition rasulullah was once
[30:10]called a sabbath in which sense he would transition from the belief
[30:14]of his people that bennu believes one thing he transitioned out of
[30:23]it he didn't believe in it hence why he was called also
[30:28]a hanif in which sense hanif ibrahim coming from the word what
[30:33]getting off tangent if you have heard of inherath meaning to go
[30:39]off tangent to derail to not follow the main way and so
[30:42]they would call rasulullah for going off rail who was also called
[30:47]a hanif amongst the first was prophet ibrahim why because let the
[30:51]world worship the stars and statues i'll worship the one lord they
[30:54]said that is a very moonheaded thing to do you are derailing
[30:58]you're going off course off tangent from what the society is doing
[31:00]and so he's like fine call me and so the followers of
[31:06]an ibrahim were called what hanif from that term and another title
[31:10]was to transition and so to transition the sabians are those who
[31:19]were transitioned from darkness to light is the wonderful idea that they
[31:24]carry and we mentioned earlier they do not follow the teachings of
[31:28]prophet jesus so they do not follow jesus they say he's a
[31:30]good man sabians today by the way they primarily live in arak
[31:35]where in arak only like one place in basra like where i'm
[31:40]from alhamdulillah why in that particular place because the euphrates river and
[31:44]the tigris meet and then they go to the persian gulf correct
[31:46]if you look at the map in geography you'll be able to
[31:50]see it why do they only want to reside there most of
[31:53]the sabian community there is some diaspora of the sabians who've had
[31:57]to immigrate to the states but over an overwhelming 80 percent of
[32:03]sabians live in the south of iraq specifically basra i have the
[32:06]pleasure and honor for when going to arak when i reside in
[32:09]basra with my family my uncle took me out to see the
[32:14]sabian community at the time they were doing their ritual baptism and
[32:20]bathing they do their baptizing in the euphrates river itself and they
[32:24]wear white garments basically white garments their women do the same thing
[32:28]what is their holy book called it's not the quran it's not
[32:33]the bible they don't clearly don't follow jesus they follow a book
[32:39]called ken zarabe or genzad of them kenza is a collection of
[32:44]poems supplications and teachings by various prophets but you all know which
[32:49]prophets are not included prophet muhammad sallallahu alaihi they do not believe
[32:54]he is a prophet of god a wise man and by the
[32:56]way the sabian the sabian community they have utmost love for the
[33:03]ahlul bait especially in iraq you may not see it this year
[33:06]during urban because of situation a corona virus because people cannot go
[33:12]to messiah or walk pilgrimage to abba abdullah you normally see the
[33:19]sabians establishing mawakib which are stations to distribute food or to help
[33:24]those who are struggling in walking why walking where to say well
[33:29]they don't follow but they attest and the sabian community and clerical
[33:34]authorities all make reference was a man of dignity and so was
[33:42]his father why they emphasized imam ali as being a man of
[33:46]dignity why because when imam ali was khalifa for these four years
[33:49]and eight months he honored the sabian community he did not persecute
[33:54]them as later actually did and i don't need to mention the
[33:58]later but imam ali honored the sabian community he would mention you
[34:01]sabians are those who were mentioned in the quran guide you and
[34:20]help you and heal you and protect you so the sabian community
[34:25]of today they honor because bait honored them and this is a
[34:28]reflection to their upright character and nature however unfortunately the sabians the
[34:35]modern sabians have been persecuted a lot in the previous government the
[34:40]baptist government and recently when isis came and persecuted them they were
[34:46]victims to a lot of genus and persecution and genocide ultimately and
[34:50]so their numbers are very little they don't even pass the 100
[34:55]000 in numbers and the majority of them are found in iraq
[34:59]only so when i had the honor to go and see the
[35:01]sabian community in basra what they were doing was beautiful they were
[35:05]worshiping allah they were calling to allah one lord so they are
[35:09]not polytheists of course and so they have their own rituals so
[35:12]they have a form of wuvu where they submerge themselves and then
[35:16]they perform baptism and then they read and so on and so
[35:20]forth truly a nice community there's nothing off about that sure we
[35:23]might disagree here and there question what does or what do the
[35:29]ulama of some might look at certain ulama and say that a
[35:35]few of our scholars say they are not from ahlul kitab for
[35:39]example you might see a say the sistani who does make mention
[35:43]that perhaps these individuals are not ah kitab why assay did say
[35:50]they are a kitab there are two groups of sabians one of
[35:53]them they're called sabi at haran or the sabians of heron and
[35:58]asaba al-mandaniyun the same the sabians who are mandiants sabe they are
[36:05]based in syria and they are basically a non-existing group anymore pretty
[36:09]much these individuals they worshipped the sun and the stars and the
[36:15]various planets they had reverence to the various planets but they legit
[36:19]worship them alongside allah well that's polytheism is that not paganism what
[36:23]had happened was during the times of certain caliphs and empires there
[36:28]was a paganistic group in the syrian area at the time and
[36:33]so this muslim empire wanted to persecute them because they were mushrikeen
[36:38]basically and so in order to preserve their lives what did they
[36:41]say no we are not mushrikeen we are sabians because they know
[36:44]the sabbath in the quran or what protect it so when they
[36:48]said we're sabians just for the sake of protection of one's life
[36:50]they basically did let's say they protected their life it actually stuck
[36:55]with that movement and so they began to call themselves sabians and
[36:58]sabians yet worshipping the stars and having paganistic views so they are
[37:04]called sabbath but who the quran mainly makes reference to they do
[37:08]not worship the sun and the stars these individuals are kitab in
[37:13]that understanding that's why other alama did say yeah they are kitab
[37:16]and so when one looks at various and their opinion they say
[37:20]why do they say they are not they are not people of
[37:22]the book because the quran makes reference to them this is a
[37:24]reference not to the modern sabian group that is generally known but
[37:28]another group that was a very popular group at the time so
[37:32]we make reference that they do not honor prophet jesus as a
[37:38]prophet they don't even honor prophet musa as a prophet nor prophet
[37:41]ibrahim so are they abrahamic can you call them abrahamic no because
[37:47]they don't follow abraham that's what it means to be abrahamic but
[37:50]they are muahadun they do believe in one lord obviously and they
[37:54]are recognized by that they also have a lot of reverence for
[37:59]prophet adam and so they claim to have the adamite scrolls prophet
[38:02]adam would have these scrolls and teachings of god and he preserved
[38:05]them in this taboo collected them islam is a very pinnacle cardinal
[38:11]prophet as well as well as eenosh and enoch the son of
[38:20]sheath or the son of seth adam's grandson or seth meaning the
[38:24]son of adam his grandson inoch is also a pinnacle prophet in
[38:28]sabianism and so the however they ultimately go back to one prophet
[38:35]some say wait a minute i never had a book so how
[38:39]could you say ahul kitab that's where some might argue that they
[38:42]are not a kitab because they don't have a kitab did yahya
[38:46]have a book no he didn't but the book that they do
[38:48]have kenzarub that we called it organzarabba is a book of a
[38:53]series of collection of dua supplications and poems and whatnot this is
[38:59]a very understudy topic brothers and sisters many of us may not
[39:03]have even known or heard of the sabians mandaniyin who are these
[39:07]individuals but if allah found it necessary to include them in the
[39:11]quran mention them by name literally three times at least it's worth
[39:14]the effort to not be of those of the ignorance how many
[39:18]times has allah made reference do not be of those who are
[39:23]ignorant and if sayudus salam makes reference to nabi that it is
[39:26]our part as well as lovers of saiyan to also take some
[39:30]of the lessons and teachings of yahya zakaria nebula john the baptist
[39:35]and say both legends both we can all agree that these are
[39:42]men of god no one will complain no one will make a
[39:47]dispute and say this person i question some of their actions from
[39:50]the christians and the muslims basically we all love these in these
[39:54]figures no one will dispute that therefore it's high time insha'allah to
[40:00]make the effort to find the underlining similarities between these two men
[40:05]and to be of those who truly when we say we are
[40:08]followers of imam hussain we mean it word by word when we
[40:13]come to the months of muharram and we see say that constantly
[40:16]remembering a certain individual it's my responsibility to know who that individual
[40:21]is to learn more about him and so on and so forth
[40:24]when prophet john the baptist was martyred by herod the great or
[40:28]the great loser i could call him this individual martyred him jesus
[40:32]alaihissalam became the prophet because jesus technically was a prophet indeed but
[40:38]his mission began as soon as the previous prophet passed away similar
[40:45]to rasulallah always a prophet but the mission begins when when he
[40:49]was about 40 years old when time was ripe and ready for
[40:54]the holy prophet to begin his mission and rasulullah makes reference to
[40:59]this to the whole in to the holy imams that they are
[41:03]imams whether they stand or sit meaning what that if it's their
[41:07]time to be active in their mission of imam then they are
[41:10]still imams whether they are active or not active likewise the prophets
[41:14]whether they are active in prophethood and spreading the mission they are
[41:18]still prophets then begins his mission he was about 30 years old
[41:27]when he began his mission and so we understand jesus his story
[41:32]ends when he's about 33 so all that we know from isa
[41:37]alaihissalam are during these three years of him being persecuted of him
[41:41]being risen to his lord of him teaching his disciples in these
[41:47]three years after prophet yahya is martyred jesus then takes the reigns
[41:49]and begins to teach and spread the message of god and the
[41:54]followers of prophet yahya or john the baptist then transitioned we made
[41:59]that term transition from yahya to whom prophet jesus and we ask
[42:06]allah to raise us with these great men of honor and dignity
[42:10]to raise us and unite us and to find the similarities in
[42:15]our lives many of us make islam this exclusive club no it
[42:19]shouldn't be that way we have many similarities with our christian our
[42:24]jewish brothers and sisters those who have an interest in history we
[42:27]all can unify ourselves under the key principles of knowledge of wisdom
[42:32]of sacrifice of resistance and we need all of that in the
[42:37]world today the world today and this might sound cliche the world
[42:39]needs jesus the world needs jesus the world needs john the baptist
[42:45]the world needs hussein ben ali but it needs their principles they
[42:48]did their role now it's time for us as their followers to
[42:53]insha allah spread their message far and wide all of that hard
[42:58]work never goes in vain when the lovers of al-hasan and hussein
[43:01]are here to stay and spread those messages the message of allah
[43:08]and inshallah foreign
