[21:39]I'll I'll do a refresher on some of the events that we
[21:40]have coming up.
[21:42]A few of the uh ones that are coming up soon.
[21:45]Tonight is a sur with a scholar.

[23:56]If you're interested in sponsoring one of uh the remaining Ramadan nights,
[23:59]please let uh one of us know.
[24:03]And uh brothers and sisters, by now I'm sure that you are
[24:05]aware we are building a new masid for our Canton community, a
[24:09]home for prayer, learning, and remembrance.
[24:10]We are happy to announce that Mecca is planning to break break
[24:15]ground on our new masid this summer, inshallah.
[24:17]Breaking ground on a house of Allah is a monumental undertaking and
[24:21]it would not be possible without the generous donations and unwavering support
[24:28]from this Mecca community.
[24:29]As the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, "Whoever builds a masjid
[24:35]for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for them a house
[24:38]in paradise." There's a QR code on the TV screen to my
[24:43]left that you can scan which will have information about our new
[24:46]campaign for sponsoring a spot in the gymnasium at the new masid.
[24:52]The cost is $3,000, but the blessings they are limitless Muhammad Ali
[24:57]Muhammad This is a surah from um 8 bakar and this is
[25:10]verse uh 185.
[25:13]The month of Ramadan is one in which the Quran was sent
[25:18]down as a guidance to mankind with manifest proofs of guidance and
[25:22]the criterion.
[25:24]Why do we fast in Ramadan?
[25:28]The practice of fasting is intended to increase tawa, God consciousness, and
[25:34]foster self-restraint, patience, and gratitude.
[25:35]It's a time for self-reflection, seeking forgiveness, and purifying the heart and
[25:41]mind from worldly distractions.
[25:44]Tonight's speaker will help us better understand and live these meanings of
[25:48]Ramadan.
[25:49]At the end of the lecture tonight, there will be a QR
[25:53]code on the TV to answer a question about last night's lecture.
[25:56]And at the end of Ramadan, whoever correctly answers the highest number
[26:01]of questions will receive a gift from Mecca.
[26:04]And now it is my distinct honor to introduce our spiritual leader
[26:12]tonight.
[26:09]Sah say Muhammad Hassan Ash say Muhammad Hassan has dedicated his voice
[26:17]and his heart to the service of Bet.
[26:19]He is a man who has uplifted this community with his knowledge,
[26:23]humility and sense of humor.
[26:26]Please welcome our dear teacher and spiritual guide say Muhammad Hassan Ash
[26:32]with a loud salawat.
[26:35]Muhammad Ali Muhammad I echo the sentiments of our dear pilot.
[27:02]At least someone laughs at my jokes.
[27:31]Alhamdulillah.
[27:50]Alhammedib.
[27:54]Muhammad.
[27:59]Muhammad.
[28:24]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in his holy book Please illuminate your
[28:46]hearts and bless this gathering with a very loud salawat.
[28:53]Respected scholars and brothers, sisters, we all work hard in this life
[29:07]so that the end of our story is one of a pleasant
[29:11]ending is something we all aspire to accomplish and achieve.
[29:15]That ya Allah, no matter how difficult and chaotic my life may
[29:19]be, let at least the very end matter.
[29:26]We all are nonfallible.
[29:26]We will falter.
[29:29]We have mistakes.
[29:29]Every single one of us with exception of 14 infallibles that have
[29:33]existed and the prophets of Allah.
[29:36]All of us are subject to pitfalls, obstacles, challenges.
[29:41]And Allah promises that if you exist and you have an intellect,
[29:45]a degree of intellect, I will trial you.
[29:54]We will trial all of you with various types of challenges.
[30:00]These are normal.
[30:01]But at the very end, what we want is the end is
[30:04]good.
[30:05]It doesn't matter how you start.
[30:05]It matters how you end.
[30:09]We need the end of the movie at the very least.
[30:10]Let the whole movie be a horror film.
[30:12]It's okay.
[30:13]Although we prefer not, but let the whole film be chaotic, horrifying,
[30:18]action-packed, whatever.
[30:21]Let the ending be good because it's how I end that will
[30:24]take me and make my day of judgment in my favor because
[30:29]the opposite is completely not necessary.
[30:30]You can live a life of fliver flavorous behavior of oppression of
[30:37]injustice and having this attitude which is a unfortunate common attitude that
[30:44]I will get my act together eventually.
[30:49]That mentality is so sour.
[30:49]It's so wrong because number one, you can't guarantee the end.
[30:53]Nor is the end in your position.
[30:55]Nor is it in your hands.
[30:58]Nor is tomorrow ready.
[30:58]How often have you heard by the way I know you have
[31:04]the story or the excuse of I will do X when I
[31:07]why I'll pray when I go to Hajj I'll adhere to Islamic
[31:11]attire more when I do this when I this this when it's
[31:15]as if I know my decree it's as if I know my
[31:19]future it's as if today and by the end of that day
[31:21]is promised to me I don't know anything but at the very
[31:25]least I at least should try there is a wonderful ful example
[31:29]of a person wallah wallah you could say wallah he had everything
[31:32]going for him prime example of you have all the cards in
[31:38]your favor man everything is going good for you just hang on
[31:40]to it some of us we have to strive we have to
[31:43]work hard so that inshallah the end is good there are people
[31:46]mashallah they're predisposed to having things handed to them on a silver
[31:49]platter and that's a they should be grateful for this guy oh
[31:56]my goodness his name is Islam Not even Abdullah, the small servant
[32:04]of Allah, a cousin relative of the eventual brother-in-law of Allah Z
[32:08]bint Jash would beool Allah's wife.
[32:12]So he would marry his sister, the holy prophet of Islam.
[32:15]He was on a path prior to Islam on the path of
[32:19]Abraham.
[32:19]He was a Ibraim Hanife.
[32:21]So he wasn't even doing polytheism.
[32:24]Everything was going good for him.
[32:27]In fact, in fact, he was amongst the first to do hijra.
[32:31]There's a category of those who did hijra prior to Medina that
[32:36]are very praiseworthy when Islam is little.
[32:38]What will compel you to travel for the sake of Islam?
[32:40]He did it.
[32:42]He went to Ethiopia.
[32:42]the famous incidents known as the hijra to with being the one
[32:49]on the spearhead guiding people pleading to the king of Ethiopia the
[32:56]the nashi al nashi the habesi king the Christian ruler he was
[33:01]with them everything's going good with him he dies a kafar early
[33:05]Muslim muslim cousin to the prophet brother-in-law to the prophet for us
[33:11]it's like bro you have everything going for you.
[33:14]What happened?
[33:13]His temptations got the best of him.
[33:18]He goes to Ethiopia.
[33:19]He's married to Omhabib, who by the way, if you are married
[33:23]to someone that leaves Islam, then there is a question mark on
[33:29]that relationship.
[33:28]He gets to Ethiopia amongst the early Muslims, obey, the small servant
[33:33]of Allah, not even Abdullah, emphasizing the humbleness and the majesty of
[33:39]Allahhana wa ta'ala.
[33:42]He gets there and there was an individual who he felt enchanted
[33:45]by and she said to him, "Listen, if you're interested, I will
[33:48]marry you." And I'm saying the word marriage in an inappropriate manner.
[33:52]What they wanted to do had nothing to do with marriage, but
[33:55]on the condition that you leave this faith that you're preaching and
[33:59]you're embracing.
[34:01]He says, "Listen, my desires are more strong are stronger than my
[34:05]will to remain a Muslim.
[34:06]I forfeit my Islam.
[34:09]Can I be with you?
[34:10]And then they accepted.
[34:13]He left Islam and he died as a mortad.
[34:14]Everything was going for him.
[34:18]His wife was automatically divorced.
[34:19]Later Allah would marry her, she would behabib, one of the wives
[34:23]of the holy prophet of Islam.
[34:23]But this shows you and I that just because you see people
[34:28]and this is a hard pill to swallow.
[34:31]Just because you see people and you from the and the outset
[34:33]assume mashallah everything's going well for them and you feel disenfranchised you
[34:38]feel that ya Allah you gave them the longer end of the
[34:41]stick I have the shorter end and you what do you know
[34:45]how are you so sure how are you sure that their their
[34:50]will be one of what if it's going to be and also
[34:57]and also the flip side don't assume that just because you're struggling,
[35:01]you have a history record of sins that you see someone and
[35:04]you immediately cast judgment.
[35:05]None of us here, none of us are judgmental.
[35:08]But judging people is a very common habit whereby you look at
[35:13]a mistake and you say that's a blanket statement.
[35:14]They're just condemned to hellfire.
[35:16]What do you know?
[35:19]Allah can guide them in a blink of an eye.
[35:24]And that's why the metric is as no one said it better
[35:26]as imbal in the the section known as miscellaneous because there are
[35:36]four sections.
[35:35]There are the letters, there are the wonderful pieces of advice, there
[35:40]are the sermons and then there's a category called miscellaneous.
[35:44]If you do a study on it academically, it's a powerful piece
[35:48]of literature.
[35:49]the way it's formatted as Sharifi did an excellent job genuinely an
[35:53]excellent job formatting the sermons letters pieces of wisdom and miscellaneous in
[35:59]the miscellaneous there is a quote that reflects this paradigm so wonderfully
[36:04]if every human embraced it we would be living blissfully he says
[36:19]hate rather love your lover but to a healthy extent don't pour
[36:25]your heart out you're dealing at the end of the day with
[36:28]a non-M who is fallible to sin and error and flaw but
[36:33]love them sure don't pour your heart out give the heart to
[36:35]Allah only because maybe one day they turn into your enemy they
[36:40]turn on you but on the flip side hate your enemy but
[36:42]to a healthy extent don't shut the door on them If so
[36:47]long as Allah never shut the door on them.
[36:49]Why?
[36:50]Because maybe one day they turn into your lover.
[36:53]Look at the dichotomy and harmony of two polarizing antithetical traits that
[36:58]if you see someone in life, it's one mistake.
[37:00]It can cause you to hate them, especially if they're near dear
[37:05]family betrayal.
[37:04]It hurts so bad.
[37:07]Why did you do this to me?
[37:08]It's okay.
[37:09]People make mistakes and you're all right to feel hurt.
[37:11]But don't close the door.
[37:14]Maybe one day they turn around.
[37:15]And at the same time, there are people you are totally entitled
[37:18]to love.
[37:19]Love them all the way.
[37:20]But don't divulge everything as if your future is in their hands.
[37:26]Your critical information, your sensitive pieces of information, your family details.
[37:29]Why?
[37:30]I love them.
[37:31]They're like my brother, but they ain't your brother.
[37:32]But they're not your family.
[37:35]And even if they were your family, there are certain things who's
[37:38]the closest to you in your life.
[37:39]You could say my spouse, my mother, my father, my sons.
[37:45]You know, there's still a degree of confidentiality that has to be
[37:50]observed even with people that close.
[37:52]That degree could be slither, could be small, but reserve that for
[37:57]Allah because as says the heart is the shrine of Allah.
[38:06]So do not allow anyone to reside in the shrine of God
[38:10]besides God.
[38:11]There is a beautiful quote attributed to Im Having looked into this,
[38:16]I found it in the Dwan of Im.
[38:18]So take it with a grain of salt as far as the
[38:22]legitimacy goes, but it's commonly referred to by as well that Im
[38:25]says, I stood at the gate of my heart and I let
[38:31]no one inside except Allah.
[38:33]This heart is his.
[38:37]Everyone else is secondary.
[38:37]That's fine.
[38:39]But Allah is primary.
[38:39]And I see people in life as much as I love them,
[38:45]as much as I love the holy messenger, first comes God.
[38:47]Because God, the best way to be worshiped is through the holy
[38:53]messenger.
[38:52]Everything else comes as we say in Arabic.
[38:56]I love because they are the closest means to Allah.
[39:01]I love the holy Quran because I can't worship God without them.
[39:06]My barometer is Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[39:08]In life we can't cast judgment.
[39:11]Maybe their end is beautiful.
[39:14]And yes, this has happened on various levels.
[39:15]Brothers and sisters, I would like to share with you one example.
[39:22]This example can be seen in as we've seen in things are
[39:26]going good and but on the same time you could have a
[39:32]as well where the individual his whole life is bad his whole
[39:35]life is gangly his whole life is robbery his whole life is
[39:37]thieving and he ends up as Abuari Benu were a clan of
[39:46]gangsters highway robbers and thieves they would stand between other areas and
[39:51]if you were a lone lady they would take your purse if
[39:54]you're a man with money they would take your money he was
[39:56]doing that look at his end subhan allah where he has debates
[40:01]with salman Muhammad and he says to him listen I have so
[40:05]much certainty in Allah and no certainty in myself this is a
[40:07]good trait though is to say that I'm not guaranteed anything because
[40:11]I do good in life there are some people they say mashallah
[40:14]I went to hajj mashallah I've done x I should be good.
[40:20]That is an attitude to be avoided because he says, "I'll tell
[40:23]you how little how little certainty I have." So they're debating which
[40:27]one has least certainty.
[40:29]Imagine you have that debate with your buddies and you say that
[40:32]look, I'm not too sure if I'm guaranteed anything in life.
[40:34]Let's see who has the least amount of certainty.
[40:36]The least amount of certainty in your demise, in your is a
[40:44]reflection of how much faith you put in Allah.
[40:46]If you say, "I'm chilling.
[40:49]I'm good." Then why does im and he is say to forgive
[40:56]me sin one two and three what does he sinful but he
[41:00]feels that I have not done enough for God and that's someone
[41:03]whose relationship is strong when you have the least amount of certainty
[41:07]it directly correlates with how genuinely sincere you are with Allah Abu
[41:13]Dar debates Salman says oh yeah I don't have any certainty in
[41:20]my faith in as far as how I end up.
[41:23]I so much certainty so little certainty such that even if on
[41:27]the day of judgment he tells Salman even if on the day
[41:32]of judgment they the angels call me enter Jenna and I see
[41:35]the doors right there and I go straight to it I still
[41:40]don't have certainty I'm going to Jenna that's impeccable some of us
[41:44]are in the we're saying now we're going straight to Jenna the
[41:46]man says if I see it and I'm taking steps why what
[41:50]makes you say that Maybe they might call me.
[41:53]Hey, stop.
[41:52]There's a sin we didn't tally yet.
[41:56]Come back.
[41:55]We have to now break down this sin.
[41:57]What's going on over here?
[42:00]Like that could be possible.
[42:02]Salman says, "Oh yeah, I have even less certainty in myself." He
[42:05]says, "What could you say that's more impressive than that?" He says,
[42:09]"Even, how could you top that?" By the way, even if I
[42:14]have a leg in Jenna and one leg outside of it, it
[42:18]shows you the positions of these two.
[42:21]Salman is a unique position.
[42:22]It's not unordinary that he got the title.
[42:26]We like he's from us.
[42:29]He says if I have my right leg in Jenna and my
[42:33]left one outside, I still am not certain I'm going into Jenna
[42:37]until I'm inside.
[42:37]Look at the self annihilation of any degree of certainty an a
[42:46]type of boastfulness.
[42:45]I am this.
[42:48]No, not at all.
[42:48]these individuals are impeccable.
[42:52]That mindset is the ideal standard.
[42:55]You find for example there was an incident involving a moment where
[43:01]the prophet of Islam has asked the angel of death a curiosity
[43:05]question.
[43:06]He says to Malik, "This story can be found in a couple
[43:13]versions, but the common version is this one.
[43:14]Sometimes you might fe see see multiple versions of the same incident.
[43:19]Those are the study of hadith.
[43:20]People have perspective that others didn't catch.
[43:23]So when they narrate, they might give it a bit of a
[43:25]different version.
[43:26]But the story goes as this in the bare minimum.
[43:27]The prophet says to him, the prophet can speak to the angel.
[43:33]It's normal to him.
[43:33]He doesn't have to meet the angel when he's doing his job.
[43:35]That's we'll all meet him by the way.
[43:37]But the prophet can meet him anytime he wishes.
[43:40]And he asks him, I'm just curious.
[43:51]Have you ever been saddened once in your life?
[43:55]Did you ever become sad?
[43:55]Have you ever been happy once in your life?
[44:00]And have you ever been astonished once in your life?
[44:03]Says, by the way, it's common the prophet discusses randomly like this
[44:07]with the angels.
[44:10]He's always talking with them.
[44:10]In the final volume of al kafi it's called meaning like garden
[44:16]garden.
[44:16]Why?
[44:17]Because there are different flowers in the garden.
[44:18]These are just different miscellaneous a hadith that are very beautiful.
[44:21]I encourage you to look into this as well.
[44:24]The al kafi might be too comprehensive even for those who are
[44:29]on the path of because this is a big book of narrations.
[44:31]I would recommend if you're very interested in the hadith of the
[44:35]read the book excellent compilation of beautiful hadith divided in a nice
[44:43]index translated into English by the way there's a whole index that
[44:47]might tell you hadiths about having nice handwriting then you go to
[44:51]that chapter okay what's what say about nice handwriting that's it hadiths
[44:55]about anxiety by the way hadiths about having good friends hadith about
[44:59]what friends to avoid beautiful scales of wisdom you can find these
[45:02]hadith they're compiled in a more understandable manner he says says to
[45:07]the messenger of god that I did become sad once and I
[45:14]did become happy pretty much I laughed once and I've never been
[45:18]astonished what I've seen everything what could astonish me so the prophet
[45:27]inquires what were those cases and so he says I was sad
[45:29]at One time God dispatched me to extract the soul of a
[45:35]lady.
[45:36]But as soon as I got to the woman, I was ordered
[45:40]to wait.
[45:38]She has not died yet.
[45:41]So as soon as she dies, I give you the order.
[45:45]So I'm just observing her.
[45:45]It appears to be a lady about a thousand years prior to
[45:48]that incident.
[45:49]That was trying to cross a river.
[45:53]You may have heard this story.
[45:57]It's quite famous.
[45:56]and she's holding a baby and basket, but she can't cross with
[46:00]both baby and basket because when she crosses the river, it's like
[46:04]up to her neck.
[46:04]So, she has to raise something over her head.
[46:07]So, she lets the baby down on one side and decides to
[46:12]carry the basket to the other and she's holding the basket over
[46:15]her head and the water of the river is raging and she
[46:18]gets to the other side.
[46:21]She places the basket down to go get baby.
[46:24]Halfway through the river, Allah says, "Take her soul now says, "I
[46:31]actually felt sad." At that moment, right in front of the baby,
[46:36]its mother, she basically drowned.
[46:37]I did genuinely feel sad.
[46:38]And the baby sees its mom.
[46:40]It just cried.
[46:43]Yeah, that's life.
[46:41]I felt sad.
[46:44]It's innocent child.
[46:45]say if you come and see what's happened in the past few
[46:49]years and as that he has seen in our countries of and
[46:54]elsewhere you this I don't know what you would do you would
[46:56]do at this point but in this case he's like I felt
[47:01]sad then followed up the what made you happy what made you
[47:03]laugh because he says what gave you he says do you remember
[47:08]nimud do you remember nimud nimud the the self-proclaimed god king at
[47:15]the time of Ibraim a lot like Fon king who found himself
[47:19]a bit too smart and called himself God at the same time
[47:24]and so he's like Nimrude how did he die exactly apparently a
[47:28]mosquito who ran up his nose okay the mosquito that's a very
[47:31]scary situation up his nose and went to his head and it
[47:36]gave him such a headache that he could only go to sleep
[47:42]if he got a couple wax on the head.
[47:45]And so he would order his servants, I can't sleep.
[47:49]Come and take your shoe and do what you have to do.
[47:50]And so they would beat him until he would fall numb and
[47:54]then he would knock out and go to sleep.
[47:57]He said this lasted for a few days that he can't sleep.
[47:59]And so if we can't sleep, maybe we take melatonin, maybe we
[48:04]take if it's a headache, migraine, Tylenol, maybe aspirin, maybe some nice
[48:10]goodn night tea.
[48:12]This guy takes a shahhat [laughter] and that's how he could go
[48:18]to sleep.
[48:17]He says one night he could not fall asleep.
[48:20]The the hitting was not working.
[48:21]So he ordered two guards, three guards, four guards until five of
[48:26]them are beating him in their head but they're doing it.
[48:28]Yes, your highness.
[48:30]And they're hitting his head until he's like harder.
[48:31]Keep going.
[48:33]Come on.
[48:34]And then he died as such.
[48:35]He says I took his soul laughing my socks off.
[48:39]He calls himself God.
[48:40]He dies with sandals on his head.
[48:42]What kind of and I I genuinely laugh.
[48:46]As for your last question, nothing made me astonished.
[48:47]I'm take those souls away.
[48:52]I extract them.
[48:53]I what could astonish measool when he asks angels and converses with
[48:58]them?
[48:58]It's not that he needs to know is as we say Allah
[49:06]bestows his to him.
[49:11]Angels seek his consultation.
[49:11]Allah knows it all.
[49:14]So Allah says, "Would you like me to tell you something that
[49:18]would astonish you?" He says, "What?" He said, paraphrasing, "The one who
[49:27]made you laugh is the same that made you cry." Says, "What
[49:30]do you mean?
[49:33]That baby that you cried about grew up and became that baby
[49:37]who you were mourning for his mom died in front of him
[49:42]eventually became that king who when he died you started laughing about
[49:45]the one that made you laugh is the same that made you
[49:51]cry the angel me the angel said now I became astonished for
[49:54]the very first time it's in this moment now how he started
[50:00]versus how he ended Nothing is guaranteed.
[50:02]Even if you start off a way where the angel mourns for
[50:04]you, the angel sympathized for you.
[50:07]Doesn't mean you're going to Jenna does not mean that at all.
[50:12]There was a an incident where if you look at this book,
[50:15]it's nice to reference books, right?
[50:19]How clear is that?
[50:23]The strange stories by Abdus.
[50:26]I'm not sure if it's been translated, but I have seen it
[50:31]in Arabic and in Farsy by it's just a bunch of unique
[50:40]stories of encounters, moments, unexplainable phenomena.
[50:42]In there, he records a story of a big scholar.
[50:47]He mentions his name.
[50:47]He says this scholar, time came for him to say his sh
[50:52]attain.
[50:52]He could feel the pains of death coming.
[50:55]And so his family are surrounding him and they say to him,
[50:57]"Oh, of this region, oh massive scholar, say you're about to pass."
[51:05]He said to them, "I never believed inahill.
[51:08]Just letting you know now." And he died.
[51:12]They inquired, "What was this kufur?
[51:14]His whole life he's leading prayers.
[51:15]He's a scholar.
[51:15]He's answering questions." He just says this at the end of the
[51:20]day.
[51:18]His wife came and said, "I think I know why." One time
[51:23]we said we'll save money to go Hajj.
[51:26]The time came when we had enough money and he said listen
[51:31]I'm not interested in going Hajj.
[51:33]She says do you have an excuse besides money?
[51:36]The wife is telling him.
[51:37]He says no nothing.
[51:37]I just don't feel like it.
[51:41]Haj becomes incumbent when when you can as far as financial and
[51:45]physical and circumstances.
[51:48]Perhaps you have enough family if leaving them abandons them.
[51:51]Those are exceptions.
[51:53]His wife said he had no excuse and he still didn't go.
[51:56]The money issue was fixed.
[52:00]I believe it's because of that that he disobeyed his lord at
[52:02]a moment when his lord said do this.
[52:05]And so he died against his Lord because he without people realizing
[52:10]didn't genuinely worship Allah when it came time to worship.
[52:13]That's scary.
[52:15]That's genuinely scary.
[52:15]That says a lot about someone like me.
[52:18]I I talk to myself here may not need to worry.
[52:22]But I think ya Allah just because someone thinks they know one
[52:26]or two things or they've been doing their obligations quite well for
[52:29]some time doesn't mean it has to end necessarily well.
[52:32]Why are we any better than those who were early Muslims?
[52:37]I don't even want to bother mentioning names.
[52:38]Who even may have married from their families, who did the hijra,
[52:44]who may have been in battles with the prophet, maybe some of
[52:47]them ran.
[52:48]It's okay.
[52:47]Who was there through thick and thin?
[52:49]The prophet is your son-in-law.
[52:52]It doesn't matter how you start.
[52:53]It's did you hold on to the will of B when the
[52:54]prophet left?
[52:56]I once asked a good friend of mine.
[53:00]I was going to Hajj in 2018.
[53:01]This was my first Hajj inshallah not my last and inshallah you
[53:03]will all go again if you have already gone and if you
[53:08]have inshallah you will go I said I'm going to go do
[53:09]you want me to pray for you a special dua in front
[53:12]of the I thought this would make him feel good special dua
[53:15]for you because you know when you do any type of and
[53:20]you um say when you said in plural you can come back
[53:25]and say I prayed for you even though you didn't mention his
[53:29]name or her name right I remembered you yeah they make them
[53:30]No, I was like I want to pray for you by name.
[53:33]Is there something specific?
[53:33]He's like say just pray that my children are raised with the
[53:39]love of I said are you not a He's like no I
[53:42]am but I can't guarantee after I leave they stay on it.
[53:45]Subhan Allah.
[53:46]It opened my eyes in a way that was truly impressive because
[53:49]a person a parent concerns themsel with listen I think I might
[53:55]be good I can't guarantee the future for them for myself just
[54:00]pray what are some ways to do what are some things that
[54:03]we can do to ensure our our end is good the first
[54:08]one hadith says to us by Imam that one of the first
[54:14]things a person can do is to avoid falling into it's like
[54:17]how does that happen?
[54:20]There are things that make us have a bad end where we
[54:21]lived our lives good and at the end we don't even testify
[54:25]in the oneness of Allah the messengerhip of the prophet.
[54:27]One of those things is to cut off relations with your family.
[54:34]This makes a person's end and demise not end on the path
[54:41]of Allah.
[54:42]That's quite unfortunate.
[54:43]meaning your nuclear family, mother, father, siblings, sons, this and that, grandparents,
[54:49]talk to them.
[54:53]It's okay.
[54:50]Number two, if a person abandons, this is an interesting one.
[54:58]Immad says, if a person abandons praying, not praying, on time, if
[55:02]they abandon praying on time, it makes it risky that perhaps their
[55:08]end might not be a good end.
[55:10]Has said they were praying but not on time.
[55:11]emphasized this by the way as his dying wish that our intercession
[55:22]does not reach someone who belittles their prayer not abandons it's time
[55:27]to pray and they're watching a a show let the show finish
[55:30]then I'll pray okay priority was given to the show then not
[55:36]not allahel if someone belittles their prayer that makes it the case
[55:40]that Well, don't be surprised.
[55:41]You end on a path that's not a path of which you
[55:46]would desire.
[55:46]Can be acquired and accomplished through a few means.
[55:50]Number one, he says if a person does the glorifying of the
[55:59]he says this increases your chance that on your deathbed you die
[56:05]on the path you lived by.
[56:06]Some might say how would I flip on that last moment?
[56:11]Yeah.
[56:11]If I've lived 80, 90, 100 years on a path, the last
[56:14]moment I'm going to change.
[56:17]It's not you changing.
[56:19]It's the flipping you.
[56:20]And why are they called if not from the term?
[56:24]The person is drunk in the payings of the intoxications of death.
[56:29]These state as when a person is intoxicated, are they ever speaking
[56:33]their mind clearly?
[56:33]Do they ever say things that they genuinely mean?
[56:36]They might say something they don't intend.
[56:39]A person enters a state of intoxication those last few moments then
[56:43]you will lose full control you lose the suddenly when you lose
[56:48]that control let it not be the case you lose control and
[56:50]you lose your faith at the same time is comes and he
[56:54]says say the like nope I'm not why the pains of the
[56:56]intoxication have taken over but you can empower yourself to go through
[57:04]and soldier that how removes from the intoxication such that you know
[57:08]what you're doing through and through.
[57:10]In fact, the hadith tells us this is in the of it's
[57:15]quite unique.
[57:16]It says that the moments a person before he or she passes
[57:20]comes and gives it one last final shot.
[57:23]Shaitan strived and he's like, "Man, they're about to leave and they're
[57:27]going to leave on iman.
[57:28]I failed.
[57:28]Let me give it one more go and this is going to
[57:32]be the last go.
[57:32]Let me try my best." The stakes of sakarat and mo are
[57:38]described by the hadith as a deep deep deep thirst.
[57:39]A person feels extremely thirsty.
[57:42]By the way, it's like a nancond.
[57:43]But when you describe the events from the hadith perspective, it's this
[57:48]metaphysical between and that feels like it takes hours.
[57:53]You're having a conversation with me.
[57:55]Shayan's coming to misguide you and the family's crying over you and
[57:58]it's just a matter of like a zetto second very quickly because
[58:03]now you've dulged from this life to the next and time doesn't
[58:05]matter at that point anymore he comes and he says you're thirsty
[58:09]and the pains of death are moments of thirst and the believer
[58:14]will say well of course I'm dying of thirst he says would
[58:17]you like this and the hadith says he offers a cup of
[58:23]water and the person who's thirsty You fasted all day today.
[58:26]You've seen what it's like.
[58:28]They will say, "If you want this water, I'll give it on
[58:36]one condition." That's the last and final test.
[58:39]A person will say, "If they're weak in their faith, give me
[58:46]the water." You think Shayan will follow through?
[58:48]He'll pour it right in front of you and then leave you
[58:53]to die a disbeliever.
[58:53]This by the way is for those whose faith was scaled 50/50
[58:57]because those who are the the angel of death comes in a
[59:05]beautiful image and shan doesn't even bother and he says to them
[59:07]do you need some more time it's going to be an easy
[59:11]process the hadith says that that extraction process will be so comforting
[59:16]it'll feel like taking off old clothes that were dirty and stained
[59:19]and putting on fresh clean new ones and you all know the
[59:21]feeling of putting on nice clean new clothes especially after you know
[59:26]they get cleaned up they're warm and nice and they smell good
[59:28]after you know I say this because I remember when we would
[59:30]back in the summer shah Ramadan used to be in summer who
[59:35]remembers those days who remembers the struggle okay who played sports during
[59:39]summer of shah Ramadan many years back what sports did you play
[59:43]what sport >> soccer I was going to I needed a soccer
[59:45]reference cuz I would do it and so you're muddy you know
[59:49]when you fall on grass there's like green grass stains and there's
[59:53]sweat and you're fasting.
[59:54]The best feeling is when you rip off those ones and put
[59:59]on the fresh, warm, clean, new, nice ones.
[60:02]The hadith says that the believer's extraction is like taking off old,
[60:06]muddy, dirty, sweaty clothes, putting on fresh, clean, new ones.
[60:09]Did you look forward to it?
[60:13]He tries his last moment.
[60:13]The idea is what?
[60:13]That it could end negatively.
[60:17]It could end not in your favor.
[60:18]Helps this.
[60:20]The second factor is what causes a person to die negatively but
[60:24]the opposite that you go and establish relations with family members.
[60:32]The makes a person more likely.
[60:35]The the going and the establishing the making relations will bring the
[60:43]case where they will die a firm believer.
[60:46]Even if their life in this dunya was one where they were
[60:48]shaky, they will die on a good path.
[60:50]These are all possible.
[60:54]Another thing that Imam says to us is to recite this dua
[60:56]that we open.
[60:58]This dua is both ayah and dua.
[61:04]Oh our lord, do not allow our hearts to be deviated after
[61:10]it was guided.
[61:12]It's a prayer of do not allow the heart to deviate after
[61:18]it was guided.
[61:21]This dua say in your it's both dua and Quran.
[61:25]How much better could it two for one deal be?
[61:29]Amazing.
[61:30]It's praying ya Allah let my end be good.
[61:35]I remember the author of by the name of If you read
[61:44]the prologue of it's a book of a of wonderful book of
[61:49]it starts off by telling you a bit of his backstory and
[61:51]it basically covers that one day this is going to sound maybe
[61:57]like a horror movie.
[61:57]He was accidentally buried alive apparently in Iran about 500 years ago
[62:03]or so that the man may have had a paralyzing stroke where
[62:08]you can't find the pulse.
[62:09]Is that a medical thing where when a person might pass out
[62:13]but they try to look for a pulse and they can't find
[62:15]it?
[62:15]That's what happened to the guy.
[62:16]And so they what they thought cuz they don't have the technology
[62:21]is that oh no, he died but he's actually alive.
[62:23]So guess what they did?
[62:27]They washed his body.
[62:26]He's alive.
[62:28]They put Kean over him.
[62:30]He's alive.
[62:31]But they can't find a pulse and he's just knocked out like
[62:35]in coma and paralyzed.
[62:35]Then they put his body in a casket and they all prayed
[62:41]and the man's alive.
[62:44]Then they dug the grave and you know the Islamic grave it's
[62:47]about going down and then they open the what we call it's
[62:52]like a open like a niche and then they place the body
[62:56]there and then they fill this up with dirt.
[62:59]So the dirt in front of the body is coarse.
[62:59]It's compact.
[63:00]It's not dug up recently.
[63:01]And they put him there.
[63:05]So there's a bit of room in the grave.
[63:08]He wakes up.
[63:07]What Halloween horror movie?
[63:12]Imagine that.
[63:11]He was knocked out.
[63:14]He wakes up and it's dark and there's probably like a few
[63:17]inches of space and there's no air and he's in this and
[63:21]he's like, "Oh no, they buried me alive." So he What would
[63:25]you do in that situation?
[63:26]Somebody's like, "What would I do?" Just cry.
[63:30]He says, "I decided to make a a vow." And is binding
[63:35]by the way.
[63:34]It is so powerful.
[63:36]One of the fastest ways to get a dua answered is to
[63:38]make a vow where you say, "Ya Allah, if you accomplish X,
[63:42]I will do Y." Because most of our dua is give me
[63:46]this, but not in the result of I will do something for
[63:48]you.
[63:48]It's not I will give you this in return.
[63:50]It's just give me this.
[63:53]When you make it contingent, ya Allah, if you [snorts] allow me
[63:56]to succeed in this effort, I will donate a thousand to the
[63:59]new project of the mosque in Mecca where you will all attend
[64:03]on the ground opening inshallah on on not ground the groundbreaking on
[64:06]April.
[64:06]That's a good vow to make.
[64:08]That's something that will make Allah happy.
[64:09]So it'll more likely make the dua answered.
[64:12]S is very happy here.
[64:13]Of course, ya Allah, if you allow me to to successfully go
[64:18]through this hurdle, I will feed 50 people.
[64:21]I will fast 10 days.
[64:22]That makes the dua more likely to be answered.
[64:25]By the way, he made a vow.
[64:27]It's very binding.
[64:30]The upon me binding is God.
[64:35]Should I get out of this moment, I will what did he
[64:37]make?
[64:38]Write the nicest taps I could ever write about your holy book.
[64:44]Ya Allah, just let me out.
[64:44]As soon as he made that vow in his heart between him
[64:49]and his lord, he heard the shovel being used next to his
[64:53]area.
[64:54]And it turns out one version of the story says that the
[64:57]defan, the gravedigger who had buried him, lost his ring apparently and
[65:04]he believed it was in the hole where he went down to
[65:06]go.
[65:06]So he's digging it back up to get his ring.
[65:08]I said, "How important is that ring?
[65:10]You have to exume the grave, but whatever.
[65:13]Must be like a very special ring." The thing is he got
[65:15]closer and closer and is in the hole.
[65:18]As soon as he sees his hand, he grabs it.
[65:23]I don't need to tell you what happened to the Okay.
[65:30]Wow.
[65:30]So he said to him, "Wait, wait, relax, relax.
[65:34]I'm alive.
[65:35]It was a mistake.
[65:36]The defan probably screamed his lungs out.
[65:38]No, no, it's fine.
[65:40]It was an accident.
[65:41]I'm good.
[65:42]Where is everyone?" He says, "Everyone, they're at your fat right now."
[65:47]I was like, "Okay, can you get me clothes?" I just have
[65:50]a keen for goodness sake.
[65:53]Get me clothes.
[65:51]I want to attend my fat.
[65:55]You know, it's like I want to see who showed up to
[65:57]the fat.
[65:57]I want to know who showed up and who didn't show up.
[66:01]How dare you not attend my own funeral.
[66:03]I want to know which beef do I have to create now.
[66:07]Which cousin didn't show up?
[66:07]I don't show up to theirs.
[66:09]He goes to his funeral and he's, you know, covered and concealed,
[66:17]hooded, whatever scholar.
[66:18]He goes and he's like, he attends it and he sees people
[66:22]mourning.
[66:22]He sees his wife crying.
[66:23]His students, many students mourning and he sees people starting to give
[66:27]speeches and mourning.
[66:30]The scholar was very influential.
[66:31]He's guided us.
[66:33]He was such a good source of the community.
[66:34]And then he says, "Can I go and speak?" asking one of
[66:39]the members as he's disguised hooded says yeah who are you says
[66:42]I'm I'm someone close to him it's him though it's okay go
[66:47]ahead and speak say some say a few words he goes up
[66:51]to the podium to speak at his funeral in some masjid instan
[66:53]and the people are mourning his wife is crying his children his
[66:56]many students the community is out and he's concealed and he begins
[67:01]to talk about ayat of the Quran that are concerning resurrection Why
[67:09]is he talking about that that people are like why is he
[67:13]concerned?
[67:13]We just had lost someone important.
[67:14]Why is he talking about Allah will resurrect resurrect and in that
[67:18]light I would like to inform you and he uncovers his space
[67:21]that I have returned.
[67:24]They all screamed and left the masjid.
[67:27]He then remembered he promised Allah something.
[67:30]I owe him.
[67:33]My destiny was that I would die.
[67:36]Allah allowed me to live.
[67:36]I have to write the Quran the and he wrote according to
[67:44]one version 10 years it took him to write.
[67:48]If you this is the prologue.
[67:49]If you read the beginning the epilogue if you read towards the
[67:54]end you see the end of multiple volumes.
[67:58]At the end it says and here the pen of the fell
[68:04]in that as he was writing when he put the last period
[68:06]on the last page on the last sentence he then passed away
[68:11]on his desk.
[68:11]Allah allowed him to live the rest of his life to fulfill
[68:16]what he promised extending his life as such.
[68:18]His was that he would die in this state but Allah because
[68:21]of his devotion and his promise increased it.
[68:24]We could also do that as well.
[68:26]And one of the best ways, and I conclude with this, is
[68:30]to be close to your family.
[68:31]Especially in the days of the holy month of Ramadan, brothers and
[68:33]sisters, we need to make sure that doesn't matter if we start
[68:38]off good.
[68:40]It matters how we end.
[68:41]It doesn't matter how you begin.
[68:42]It matters if the end of the movie is a good one.
[68:45]And so, inshallah, don't cast judgment on those struggling.
[68:47]You don't know how they will end.
[68:49]And don't jump to conclusions regarding those whom, mashallah, appear to have
[68:53]everything going for them.
[68:54]We don't know what's happening behind the scenes.
[68:55]All we need to concern ourselves with is ya Allah, am I
[69:01]on a right path?
[68:59]And that's why we always say Ramadan.
[69:22]Muhammad.
[69:29][singing] [singing] Alhamdulillah.
[69:48]Imagine brothers and sisters.
[70:01]I think we will have right now in a few more minutes
[70:06]we will uh gather together for a lovely Q&A discussion with our
[70:09]dear Sam.
[70:10]May Allah bless his soul and prolong his life for our community
[70:13]and inshallah there will be lattes.
[70:15]So make sure you answer inshallah.
