[7:35]of Muhammad he's the executive director of the N Islamic education in
[7:39]the UK he has over a decade experience in the field of
[7:45]Pharmacy as well as studying in the hza in the Islamic college
[7:48]hza at the UK as well as in as well as in
[7:53]Naf he is also an author of many books and me and
[7:58]a and a provider and server of this community please help me
[8:03]welcome with three loud Muhammad good fine ald Muhammad for the purification
[9:46]of the souls the enlightenment of the hearts the acceptance of the
[9:49]deeds and for the hastening of the reappearance of the awaited Savior
[9:53]sh Enlighten your souls and the atmosphere with the recitation of salawat
[9:57]upon Muhammad Muhammad muham respected Scholars Elders sisters and brothers I'm delighted
[10:11]to give you some good news now if I had a blood
[10:19]pressure machine that can measure each and every individual's pulse and blood
[10:24]pressure we find many here are in a state of perhaps a
[10:27]little bit of an excitement or anticip ipation to hear what the
[10:33]good news is each and every person as human beings we are
[10:37]desperate and we are eager to hear positivity something that brings about
[10:46]a form of joy and happiness to us of course good news
[10:50]could be subjective you and I could hear something which could necessarily
[10:55]be good but receive it in a bad way I remember a
[11:01]story where somebody was taking his wife to the Maternity Ward at
[11:04]the hospital she was about to give birth and when they got
[11:07]into the hospital he said to her listen I am not somebody
[11:14]who can deal with the child birth I'm going to wait here
[11:19]you go and deliver and once the baby is out I will
[11:21]come and be next to you she says fine she goes and
[11:25]the nurse take her so he sits in the waiting room there
[11:30]are two other the men sitting next to him also waiting also
[11:33]not willing to go and being next to their wives so after
[11:39]uh a few minutes the nurse comes out and says to the
[11:41]first man who's sitting and says excuse me I have some great
[11:45]news for you your wife has just given birth so he says
[11:47]to her is it a boy or a girl and she said
[11:53]you have been blessed with twins he smiles he laughs he stands
[11:57]up and looks at the other two men and says this can't
[12:00]be a coincidence they say to him why he says I work
[12:06]for the hotel chain Double Tree and so God has blessed me
[12:11]with two so he goes after a while the nurse comes out
[12:14]looks at the second man and says great news you are now
[12:19]a father your wife has given birth so he says a boy
[12:21]or a girl she says it's the first time in many years
[12:25]that I've seen triplets he smiles he looks at the final man
[12:28]and says this is believable needs to be put on Instagram why
[12:33]I work for a company that's based in Minnesota known as 3M
[12:38]it produces adhesives cellot tapes so it must be a coincidence or
[12:46]something of a miracle that I work for a company that has
[12:48]a number three and I'm blessed with three children now he goes
[12:52]away this poor man is waiting and he's sitting by himself in
[12:56]this room now what the hospital staff witness is that he is
[12:59]sweating profusely he's walking back and forth he is shaking so people
[13:05]come to him and say excuse me are you okay he says
[13:06]how can I be okay I work for seven up many a
[13:13]times many a times good news can be received negatively however imagine
[13:22]the news that was declared when it comes to this amazing human
[13:28]being the grandson of the holy prophet the son of Ali and
[13:36]Fatima the one whose name rejuvenates and giv so much power and
[13:41]energy and excitement and indeed commitment the individual who is celebrated in
[13:47]the heavens as well as on this Earth a human being that
[13:53]is so close to you and I a human being that is
[13:54]so inspirational so motivational the holy third IM birth with something outstanding
[14:10]and a news that bought happiness and true Delight to the holy
[14:16]prophet muh but it wasn't only the prophet who was delighted by
[14:30]this news we have in the book in the book all these
[14:42]they narrate the following the holy [Music] imagine is congratulating the holy
[15:07]prophet he is congratulating the angels as well as jbel he's congratulating
[15:15]all of his creation and this Hussein's name is a name that
[15:21]was chosen by none other than his Lord the re says which
[15:28]is found narrated by in his as well as that says Adam
[15:33]when he was created this is a narration from the holy prophet
[15:39][Laughter] says he looked towards the right of the throne and then
[15:53]said he finds five things five Creations so he asks Allah he
[15:59]says him oh Allah have you created anyone before me and the
[16:09]response is no then Adam continues and says who are these people
[16:17]these five I can see their names Allah says then he says
[16:51]they have been given names from my names this Hussein this special
[17:20]individual whose name galvanizes us from all around the world has not
[17:29]only inspired us from birth has not only made us special for
[17:33]our attachment to his principles and values but he's also inspired non-muslims
[17:38]too how many non-muslims today you have come across who have indeed
[17:46]somehow heard about many years ago I had an interview online with
[17:51]an American Pastor his name was John Shu he lived in Oregon
[17:57]sadly he's now passed away some of you may have heard about
[18:00]him now John Shak was somebody who heard about IM Hussein Alam
[18:03]through his own congregation so because of the Interfaith work some of
[18:09]the followers of B would come and visit him and they introduced
[18:12]IM Hussein Alam to him so what happened was that he became
[18:20]more interested about carala and the story of the 10th of muharam
[18:24]and he decided to embark on the Journey of AR an American
[18:27]Christian pastor decided to go in 2018 and take part in the
[18:32]AR walk now before he did that he asked me because of
[18:37]the book that I've written about ARB for an interview so I
[18:39]spoke to him for about an hour and he was very excited
[18:44]then I followed his journey on Facebook he used to post pictures
[18:48]and videos of his walk towards carala from Naf filming many things
[18:56]with his companion I saw something which was fascinating he said when
[19:01]I reached the area where I can see the shrine of Hussein
[19:05]I could not help but chant with everyone else who is around
[19:10]me and follow what they were saying and he wrote on his
[19:16]Facebook post which still exists today he said all I could hear
[19:19]and all I could say although I am not an Arabic speaker
[19:25]was what they kept saying and I repeated after them what were
[19:30]they saying Hussein he said I followed and I said Hussein so
[19:36]what he did was he had a post on Facebook with an
[19:41]image of the shine of IM Hussein an American Christian pastor and
[19:45]all he wrote was Hussein in English Subhan Allah individuals who are
[19:51]even not necessarily following IM Hussein Alam have discovered his excellence and
[19:59]his Beauty because if today I was to ask you an important
[20:03]question Define Hussein Ali who is he some may say his sacrifice
[20:10]some may say his freedom some may say his human rights some
[20:13]may say his loyalty some may say he is God centricity some
[20:17]may say he is the defender of women's rights some may say
[20:21]he is son of the holy prophet son of there are so
[20:28]many descriptions one individual amongst many who tried to Define Hussein Ali
[20:32]stood up and says all these are amazing shall I tell you
[20:37]what defines him Hussein is Hussein that is the name that brings
[20:45]about all these virtues all these amazing characteristics and that is the
[20:50]name that has indeed inspired so many human beings and continues today
[20:55]to be one of the world's most powerful superpowers that brings about
[21:01]people from different parts of the world all in his remembrance now
[21:06]tonight's talk has an interesting title I've had a few who have
[21:16]raised eyebrows and have asked why is the title of the speech
[21:21]Imam Hussein alam's tips for strengthening muscle now what is interesting is
[21:28]that many around the world today are becoming accustomed to the idea
[21:34]that to develop physical muscles in the body is a good thing
[21:38]we've been told by those who are experts in Fitness for example
[21:46]those who are uh leading uh individuals in the world of exercise
[21:51]and sports that gaining muscle is beneficial to you and I in
[21:58]which way is it beneficial well not only does it help us
[22:00]to become stronger human beings it is also one that helps the
[22:06]bones in the body it helps us to process the food it
[22:08]is a protection from energy it enhances quality of life it is
[22:15]something that accelerates weight loss if you have more body mass as
[22:19]far as muscle is concerned it is something that increases metabolic rate
[22:24]it's great for the heart it's great for mental health etc etc
[22:28]studies of shown here in the United States that only 30% of
[22:34]the population engage in muscle strengthening activities stuff like for example push-ups
[22:40]pull-ups using dumbbells going to the gym etc etc now what is
[22:46]fascinating of course is that the religion of Islam does not ignore
[22:51]the element of physical strength that this is something that we see
[22:56]encouraged in the Holy Quran as well as the narrations of the
[22:59]am and if you want to focus on that physical strength and
[23:03]the idea of building muscle then you'll find interestingly that the were
[23:09]not individuals who suddenly miraculously became so strong in the battlefield without
[23:14]necessarily enough training and being prepared to do what they did I
[23:22]saw a narration in that once the holy prophet muhamad Alam he
[23:33]saw he was seen sitting in the house ofam and seeing IM
[23:38]Al Hassan and IM Hussein wrestling so he was supporting this particular
[23:45]sport taking place so they were wrestling each other the re says
[23:49]when they were wrestling say FAA was drawn to the fact that
[23:56]the holy prophet was encouraging Imam Hassan he was saying to IM
[24:01]Hassan Hass come on you could do this you could beat your
[24:04]brother so as a mother she was a bit surprised she said
[24:09]to him Yol Allah why are you just encouraging my son Hassan
[24:13]why just him so the prophet looks at her and says next
[24:19]to me I can see jbra he is encouraging my son Hussein
[24:23]that is what that is what is found in narrations so the
[24:28]holy prophet of Islam without a shadow of a doubt encourages physical
[24:32]exercise strength the building of muscles all this is amazing but what
[24:38]fascinates me what I'd like to shed light upon in the next
[24:43]few minutes and I'd like your attention because this idea is phenomenal
[24:48]and what draws my attention in the life of this holy individual
[24:52]say sh peace and blessings be upon Him is a muscle that
[24:57]he perfect Ed and strengthened in the best possible way and you
[25:04]and I could also follow in its footsteps and this muscle is
[25:08]of great importance to you and I we must develop it we
[25:14]must grow it as females and males any age anywhere why because
[25:18]we desperately need it 2024 my dear sisters brothers was a tough
[25:25]year for the Believers 2024 was a year that made some people
[25:28]question God 2024 people saw genocide people saw massacres taking place whether
[25:36]it's in Gaza whether it's in Lebanon whether it is in many
[25:43]other parts of the world people somehow looked at this and said
[25:46]what's going on I find it very hard to understand we lost
[25:52]loved ones we lost lost great Scholars we lost individuals that we
[25:55]looked up to all our lives and people till now are struggling
[25:58]Ling to somehow understand it all to somehow explain how this has
[26:06]happened and by the way this doesn't necessarily mean it's over now
[26:09]if we look at our own personal lives each and every one
[26:14]of us may have gone through hardships trials difficulties people who are
[26:20]Scholars get this on a daily basis and by the way may
[26:22]Allah bless those who are dealing with individuals who are facing hardships
[26:29]and difficulties because sometimes they themselves need support it's only much that
[26:33]you can hear from the pain and the suffering that many people
[26:39]are enduring my mother someone would say has just been diagnosed with
[26:44]cancer someone says I'm going through a terrible experience in my marriage
[26:48]a third person says that I've just lost my business entirely a
[26:51]fourth person says my son has just said that he is part
[26:56]of the lgbtq another person comes forward and says I'm finding it
[27:01]really really hard as far as my faith is concerned I can't
[27:03]connect with God I'm questioning everything and I can't practice My Religion
[27:09]etc etc there is no one and I'm sure of this in
[27:14]this room or anyone else who later watches this will come forward
[27:18]and say I'm not going through any pain I'm not going through
[27:22]any difficulty I'm not going through any hardship whatsoever now what's so
[27:29]interesting is we need a muscle within that developed so brilliantly through
[27:34]a particular form of exercise that he was able to deal with
[27:39]these hardships and difficulties and was a master that inspired others around
[27:45]him and can inspire you and I today IM tells us what
[27:59]this muscle is he defines this muscle he says yah Hussein the
[28:10]angels of the heavens are outstanded and are bewildered they're surprised by
[28:19]the power of your patience now this resilience this steadfastness this ability
[28:24]to deal with all the pains and the hardships of life is
[28:29]something that you and I have heard about many many times in
[28:33]fact when we go through pain often people tell us sa sa
[28:39]sa be patient it's okay when someone who is close to us
[28:41]passes away and we shed some tears I've seen this when we
[28:47]are in burial ceremonies or in FIS you hear people who will
[28:50]come to somebody who's crying and say it's okay don't cry especially
[28:56]for men and they say to them it's not good for men
[28:58]to cry it's not a sign that you are patient therefore don't
[29:04]cry hold yourself back right or for example someone came to me
[29:09]and said I've heard so many lectures about patience that I've began
[29:13]to understand that patience means that when I am facing hardship I
[29:16]just stay silent I do nothing about it so I said what
[29:20]do you mean he said one day I went through to my
[29:25]house and I saw a thief a burglar who stealing things and
[29:28]I just stood there and I looked at him and he was
[29:32]taking stuff from the house and I said to him what did
[29:36]you do he said nothing I said why he said M said
[29:38]so I was patient I was patient I said did you offer
[29:44]him tabula fat bani something your patient that's what patience is is
[29:55]that our understanding now the moment somebody mentions SA what's the first
[29:59]thing that comes to your mind something bitter something negative something hard
[30:04]yeah I'm going to hold myself back from complaining to others I'm
[30:08]going to hold myself back from complaining against Allah subhana tala because
[30:12]that's what the definition of sa is in the eyes of many
[30:14]scholars of that I'm not going to complain about Allah and what's
[30:18]happening to me so I'm going to be patient but it's hard
[30:22]it's not a good experience it's not something I'd like to do
[30:25]but I have to do it because my religion tells me it's
[30:31]good isn't it we've been given that image of patience that unfortunately
[30:36]may not necessarily give a true reflection of this wonderful amazing quality
[30:43]now I just want you to remember these nine points very briefly
[30:47]in the Quran and in the Hadith regarding what it means to
[30:55]be embracing a special type of sa if you look at the
[30:59]Quran there are more than 100 references that Allah discusses this important
[31:06]virtue all you believe be patient but also help others so it's
[31:11]not only me that I have to go through this journey I
[31:13]have to be an agent of spreading this number two it is
[31:17]so key it goes hand inand with seeking truthfulness number three those
[31:24]who are patient Allah says on the day of judgment I will
[31:27]not hold them account accountable they will enter Paradise without any form
[31:38]of measure number four prophets were chosen due to their patience the
[31:47]Quran says number five imams were chosen because of their patience because
[31:56]they were patient we chose them number six says you cannot be
[32:03]a believer except that you are patient the patience when it comes
[32:08]to Faith is like the head to the body you've all heard
[32:10]this narration if the head is separated from the body then the
[32:12]body cannot survive if facies does not exist Iman does not exist
[32:19]you and I need help number seven Allah says seek help using
[32:26]yes many mu say here refers to fasting but overall it starts
[32:33]off with patience similarly number eight Allah subhana loves it great news
[32:45]for those who are patient likewise Allah is and we have Hadith
[32:53]that says seek the ethics of Allah yes and if I want
[32:58]to get close to Allah I want to also become a Sabor
[33:02]now what is it that we need to seek instead of this
[33:06]negative patience that we sometimes have developed over our lives what is
[33:11]it that this muscle that Hussein Ali had Hussein did not have
[33:14]the bitter patience that it's hard to swallow Hussein did not have
[33:17]that negative sa that sometimes we force ourselves to experience when we
[33:24]go through pain and suffering Hussein had what the Quran says in
[33:29]the story of Y and Y when was told the news that
[33:39]his son his second son Benyamin or Benjamin is now not coming
[33:43]back and he's been held by the minister in Egypt who of
[33:51]course was his son YF but it was not something apparent he
[33:57]says for and in Allah subhana waala comes forward and tells you
[34:05]and I Allah commands us to be of the patient ones but
[34:15]not normal patience I call it the beautiful patience the special patience
[34:20]now the very important realization and the question that I'd like to
[34:25]ask you and I to reflect upon what is the difference difference
[34:29]between you and I exhibiting sa steadfastness and being of those who
[34:38]are enjoying patience beautiful patience have you ever gone through patience and
[34:41]thought with yourself that is something beautiful that is something that I've
[34:45]enjoyed it's something that I embrace it's something that I am happy
[34:51]to do or not now this is what I'd like you to
[34:53]think about how do I develop this muscle how this is a
[35:00]muscle within I need to stretch it today many who are experts
[35:05]in the body tell you if you want to build muscle you
[35:07]need to stretch it that's why people go to the gym or
[35:11]they do these exercises it's all about stretching muscle I need to
[35:15]stretch my muscle within which is called the muscle of patience theoretically
[35:18]and I need to develop what's known as the the beautiful muscle
[35:23]how do I do it the number one key please mark this
[35:31]the number one exercise the number one tool the number one means
[35:37]to attain sub is understood by the following story is where is
[35:46]leading B is please focus on this because many times in our
[35:50]struggles we need keys that unlock these Mysteries he's leading B is
[35:58]where in order to save them from The Wretched grip of f
[36:02]when he leads them in the deserts for years they begin to
[36:07]complain they're going through difficulty pain hardship in which way they don't
[36:11]have water they don't have enough food they're being dragged from one
[36:14]place to another it's hot they're in the desert they come to
[36:18]M they say to him y Allah we've had enough we can't
[36:23]deal with this anymore we need some respite we need some help
[36:27]so get out of this misery help us M gathers them it's
[36:32]time to make an announcement they're all waiting for some form of
[36:37]help from Allah subhana tala now they're going to be relieved from
[36:40]their distress now they're going to be given some form of respite
[36:45]they all are gathered and the Quran tells us what M made
[36:50]the Declaration in Chapter 14 verse number seven Allah is making a
[37:03]declaration if you are grateful I will give you more question I
[37:06]have to be grateful for all the pain that I've gone through
[37:12]for all the things that I don't have for all the suffering
[37:14]that I've endured so B is look at M and say excuse
[37:20]me I have to say thank you for all this how what
[37:24]does it make sense does it make sense that I'm supposed to
[37:30]somehow exhibit gratitude and thankfulness when I am exhibiting and I'm feeling
[37:37]so much pain does it make any sense at all now IM
[37:42]whom we are also celebrating his auspicious anniversary of his birth one
[37:48]day according to riah lost an animal of his he had an
[37:57]animal that perhaps he wanted and when he lost it he came
[38:03]forward and said this he said if if Allah gives me back
[38:17]this animal I will thank him in a way that he will
[38:23]be pleased with after a while he found the animal he went
[38:26]down into sajada and everyone was desperate to hear what is this
[38:32]that Imam is going to say in which it encompasses all the
[38:37]thanks to Allah subhana wa tala and his praise and all he
[38:41]said was alhamdulillah and he sat down so he looked at him
[38:47]and said what is this I thought you're going to say something
[38:53]amazing you're going to give us a massive Dua you're going to
[38:56]give us a massive description of of thanks to he comes forward
[39:02]and says I have not left anything I have said all praise
[39:12]belongs to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala now for the next few minutes
[39:15]I'd like you and I to reflect upon this important tool in
[39:22]this journey of expressing gratitude to Allah which is so unique to
[39:27]develop this within and that is the word alhamdulillah this alhamdulillah my
[39:34]dear sister Brothers I feel personally in my humble journey is one
[39:38]of the most misunderstood terms in Islam one of the most mispred
[39:44]terms in Islam let me tell you why let me tell you
[39:49]why if today God forbid may Allah protect you all may Allah
[39:52]subhana T give you long life I remember a few years ago
[39:56]I was blessed to be here in 2017 or 18 faia and
[40:00]I was coming back from Toledo and I had a massive car
[40:02]accident because there was a lot of snow God bless Detroit and
[40:09]debor lovely to see no snow here but I the car was
[40:10]hit by another car I was coming back and Subhan Allah allaha
[40:15]saved us and then alhamdulillah had the honor to come straight away
[40:18]from the accident and give the Magus here in this Hall and
[40:24]I remember changing the subject completely and I don't know if anyone
[40:28]of you was there but I said look Allah has just saved
[40:31]my life just saved my life right now at that moment you
[40:37]expect me to say alhamdulillah isn't it when I called my wife
[40:40]I called my family I said alhamdulillah Allah saved me that's fine
[40:43]we normally say that don't we but when we are in pain
[40:49]and something's not going right I've seen sisters and brothers say the
[40:52]following for example someone comes to them and says how is your
[40:57]father treating you when it comes to you for example wanting somebody
[41:01]for marriage alhamdulillah what can I do they're using alhamdulillah but not
[41:05]sincerely in which way saying you know alhamdulillah what can I do
[41:13]he that's it that's life right so in some occasions alhamdulillah has
[41:17]become a term which we utter but it's not from the heart
[41:20]because I just need to say it yes all praises to Allah
[41:25]something's happen and whatever is happening and it's so be it right
[41:30]alhamdulillah is misunderstood in which way alhamdulillah is misunderstood in which way
[41:37]let me give you a realization alhamdulillah for what happened in Gazza
[41:51]alhamdulillah for what happened last year in Lebanon alhamdulillah for covid-19 alhamdulillah
[42:06]for the thousands that were massacred by terrorists like d in Iraq
[42:11]for many many years alhamdulillah does that sound strange thank you when
[42:24]somebody's hit with pain with difficulty yes do you expect them to
[42:31]say alhamdulillah when somebody's going through tough times or they just for
[42:33]example for example they have somebody God forbid has just lost a
[42:41]baby miscarriage are you okay alhamdulillah I've just lost a baby you
[42:45]okay you've just lost a baby alhamdulillah right or somebody might come
[42:52]say alhamdulillah Donald Trump has become a president alhamdulillah at the end
[43:01]of the day what happens people raise eyebrows and say excuse me
[43:04]what does that actually mean are we actually understanding it or are
[43:11]we specific to its usage have we limited it do we really
[43:17]understand what it implies in our lives the next few minutes let
[43:23]me just take you towards a slightly simplified understanding of this term
[43:30]but it's very important in the grand scheme of things in the
[43:33]way we view things and then we begin to understand how used
[43:39]it if you look at this tww term alhamdulillah it is so
[43:43]powerful and amazing it's the first thing you and I mention after
[43:48]in our Salah do you agree after the how many times do
[43:54]we recite it every single day how many times counting Counting counting
[44:03]10 times simple yesah f is recited twice every Salah we say
[44:10]alhamdulillah 10 times every day right at the beginning of our Salah
[44:19]similarly what do we do we read many duas of the many
[44:20]of them start with alhamdulillah right similarly we find the Dua of
[44:35]right at the same time this is beautiful what do people of
[44:42]paradise speak have you ever wondered about Jenna one of the most
[44:46]fascinating topics which I think has to be spoken about again and
[44:49]again and again especially with youngsters especially with people who are not
[44:55]necessarily connecting with religion is J and the features of Jenna because
[44:58]often when I gather people and I tell them tell me about
[45:01]Paradise they're like yeah it's an amazing place but you know it's
[45:04]just somewhere there right they can't really explain what's going on whereas
[45:09]the Quran delves into so much detail about Paradise one of the
[45:14]things that the Quran says about Jenna is what they speak about
[45:17]what their conversation is all about one of the things the Quran
[45:20]says is that they love to say alhamdulillah ald Quran says that
[45:29]they will always praise Allah that you know what all pain is
[45:34]now relieved from us and the final thing that they say to
[45:38]each other when they meet each other is what guess what's the
[45:40]final thing when you meet people in Jenna you're about to move
[45:45]away because there are so many amazing Pleasures right somebody once said
[45:50]to me give me an example of the pleasures you can have
[45:53]I said to them you you tell me what have you read
[45:56]in the Quran they said said you will have rivers of milk
[46:00]and honey does the idea of rivers of milk and honey excite
[46:06]you because you could be a millionaire and buy all the milk
[46:12]and the honey in Walmart and Target and you'll be fine does
[46:15]he excite you I said to him this is a metaphor for
[46:21]something that is what something that's desirable he said like what I
[46:26]said you can have Rivers of Nella you can have rivers of
[46:33]whatever drink that you prefer right he said like what I said
[46:41]you can have for example milk and you can pray people like
[46:43]me are standing next to it so you can have milkshake but
[46:47]it's a bad joke right the idea is that when it comes
[46:49]to Jenna it's unlimited right but the last thing that they would
[46:56]say to each other is aldd they say alhamd the final thing
[47:06]that they would say now question very interesting question what do you
[47:13]think is the most delicious food in Paradise the most brilliant food
[47:18]in J yes some may say it's whatever you wish could be
[47:27]for example Don could be for some people kib you know I
[47:30]know the Lebanese Community they love the kiban yes I had it
[47:36]once in Lebanon and I was sick for three days because my
[47:38]stomach can't take aan and since then people have begged me to
[47:43]have it but you know bad experience um it could be anything
[47:47]right people might say whatever food you have in Jenna is the
[47:52]best right now we have a beautifuli from IM that he says
[47:59]the best the most delicious the most outstanding food so to speak
[48:05]that you can have in [Applause] Paradise now this alhamdulillah is a
[48:22]special gift from Allah subhana tala for us why please understand this
[48:27]you and I are told there is something called shukur alhamdulillah is
[48:33]not shuk shukur is to be grateful to something or somebody who
[48:38]has done some favors upon you right but it doesn't mean that
[48:43]you praise them someone helped you for example when you had a
[48:47]problem in your car they stopped by and they helped you fix
[48:49]your car let's say you say to them thank you so much
[48:52]but you're not praising them you're not telling them wow you're amazing
[48:55]you're a brilliant human being you just say thank you and that's
[48:58]shukur praise could be something which what which when you see a
[49:05]nice feature in somebody you praise them but you're not necessarily thanking
[49:08]them there's nothing to thank them because they haven't necessarily helped you
[49:10]right you see someone who is excellent in poetry or you see
[49:14]for example someone who's brilliant in AI technology and you say wow
[49:17]mashallah you're so good in this but you're not thanking them when
[49:22]it comes to alham it is what is an Arabic word that
[49:25]combines it combines all these in one word it is praise it
[49:34]is thanks it is glorification and it is one that can only
[49:38]be given to Allah subhanahu wa taala and what is interesting is
[49:44]when we say alhamdulillah we don't say or please understand the difference
[49:52]when I say alhamdulillah I could instead say we are praising God
[50:00]or right but instead we say alhamdulillah why this is very important
[50:06]for us to understand because we can never achieve the level of
[50:13]Praise that Allah subhana wa tala deserves theel of alham that he
[50:18]deserves and number two whether we praise him or not he is
[50:25]praiseworthy Allah says he deserves praise whether we give it or not
[50:34]doesn't matter and whether we praise him or not it doesn't impact
[50:41]him either now why is this alhamdulillah one of the most powerful
[50:44]exercises if we are not just saying it but understanding it to
[50:48]strengthen the muscle of beautiful patience in our body in our soul
[50:54]in our hearts why because my dear sisters and brothers sadly we've
[50:59]become in tune with negativity in life I know every time we
[51:03]see something we have to find the fault in it every time
[51:07]we are presented with something we have to find something that's wrong
[51:11]with it right there's always this fault finding search that goes on
[51:16]in our lives for everything we somehow have become engineered to look
[51:19]for shortcomings and things right isn't it I remember in many communities
[51:30]when they do these weddings they give for example different kinds of
[51:34]food in the community their only food that they give usually is
[51:40]the food known as Biryani so it's a very common thing in
[51:42]the k Community and the Pakistani community that they give bani right
[51:45]so once there was a really nice wedding where mallah it was
[51:49]done in in in Canada everything was great the speech was great
[51:53]everyone was really happy the sweets that were given was good right
[51:56]but it so happened that it was a Biryani that did not
[52:01]have meat because the person who was getting married hated having meat
[52:04]and he was a vegetarian so he decided that the Biryani is
[52:09]what vegetarian the comments afterwards the people's analysis this was the worst
[52:14]wedding this was I've never seen aah as bad as this but
[52:21]hold on a minute everything else was good except this yes of
[52:23]course how can you not have meat meat is so important I
[52:31]read a statistic in the UK that the Muslims in the UK
[52:33]I don't know about the statistic here in the US but the
[52:36]UK Muslims make up 2% of the population they eat 10% of
[52:42]the meat in the UK Subhan Allah anyway so the idea that
[52:45]exists is we are engineered to find something which is wrong not
[52:48]necessarily to look at overall picture if they a white piece of
[52:52]paper and there is a black dot in it I'm focusing on
[52:53]that black dot I'm not looking at the wide piece of paper
[52:58]right Allah wants to retrain us wants to make us more positive
[53:01]by saying you know what even if you're in the most difficult
[53:05]most painful situation remember any positivity in it and say alhamdulillah number
[53:09]one remember anything that could be good in it and say alhamdulillah
[53:13]because you may not know you may dislike something but it's good
[53:19]for you so look for something that actually is good in something
[53:26]and maybe alhamdulillah helps you to necessarily look beyond their pain and
[53:34]their negativity similarly my dear sisters and brothers alhamdulillah is an expression
[53:40]of sincere submission to the demand to the command and the decree
[53:47]of Allah subhana wa tala which is one of the most powerful
[53:50]yet the most difficult thing to practice Imam was asked what is
[53:53]Faith he said 99% of faith is AAS is to submit now
[54:01]people find it really hard to accept what's happening into their their
[54:05]lives or what's happening around them right because they cannot see beyond
[54:10]they cannot see what Allah subhana wa tala has planned and this
[54:14]example often I get like the respected Scholars I get people coming
[54:17]in and you know they're saying I'm going through so much hardships
[54:21]with my relationship I'm suffering with my illness I can't deal with
[54:25]it and it helped me personally by the way I don't often
[54:27]talk about my personal experience but many people say we can connect
[54:31]a bit more but alhamdulillah and I mean it generally not just
[54:34]saying it alhamdulillah my son in 209 some of you know because
[54:36]I was supposed to be in this blessed place in the month
[54:39]of Ramadan and I couldn't make it he was diagnosed with cancer
[54:42]and he was 12 leukemia he was count diagnosed and for three
[54:46]and a half years he went through uh extensive chemotherapy but what
[54:51]is interesting was that taught me the practice of the theory that
[54:55]I sought to understand my myself but also present to my respected
[54:59]sisters and brothers and that's what Allah has a plan Allah waala
[55:05]for each and every individual has a specific plan yes and nobody
[55:13]can change it and we have two choices and people ask me
[55:17]often what is my favorite Hadith one of my favorite isi remember
[55:22]this Hadith it changed my life I'm sure it will change yours
[55:25]this Hadith is found in Sunni and Sh literature oh the son
[55:35]of Adam you want something and I want something but what will
[55:41]happen is what I want if you submit to what I want
[55:51]I will give you what you want if you submit to what
[56:01]I want Allah says I will give you what you want but
[56:05]if you don't I will make you tired in the pursuit of
[56:07]what you want but at the end what will happen is what
[56:13]I want imagine Subhan Allah you apply this to your own life
[56:16]how many times did you resist resisting the idea that you said
[56:18]Ya Allah why I don't like this I don't want this I
[56:23]don't accept this you won't find relief you won't find a passage
[56:28]out you'll find even further pain and suffering as you go along
[56:33]now if you take this idea even further you begin to understand
[56:37]an important powerful realization those 47,000 slaughtered in Gaza those four five
[56:45]6,000 innocent souls in Lebanon those all individuals who are suffering around
[56:50]the world those who died because of the earthquakes in Tura and
[56:53]in Syria a few years ago 65 5,000 alhamdulillah for those earthquakes
[57:00]why why do we say alhamdulillah that young baby those of you
[57:05]who are mothers you can relate to this and parents and Fathers
[57:10]as well when you have a baby and it's time for the
[57:12]baby to be vaccinated what happens the baby screams in pain do
[57:18]you agree do the parents cry as well not really yes the
[57:23]mother may shut some tears because the baby is crying but the
[57:26]mother and the father are doing it why because they know it's
[57:30]good but is the baby happy that he's been vaccinated no why
[57:34]it's probably thinking why you hurting me but the doctor and the
[57:39]parents is saying listen I know you're going through pain but it's
[57:43]good for you it's better for you Allah subhah wa ta'ala makes
[57:49]us go through these hardships we cannot see but he says I
[57:53]have a plan submit and you'll see the difference you will see
[57:56]but you've got to believe you've got to submit so when I
[58:02]say alhamdulillah I embrace it I understand it and the more I
[58:07]am grateful and thankful the more I can become of those who
[58:11]enjoy patience is to look at what's happening and to say alhamdulillah
[58:15]in which way look at if you examine his life there was
[58:22]the theory and there was the practice and I'll end with this
[58:24]the theory was what his words and his supplications as we celebrate
[58:32]his auspicious birth maybe maybe it's an opportunity to go back to
[58:37]some of the duas that he recited especially Dua and 18 supplications
[58:40]He recited on the day of Ash how many 18 and I
[58:49]studied these 18 and I was thinking when you are deprived of
[58:55]water for a few days you are surrounded you're over 100 not
[58:59]72 you're over 100 individuals you're surrounded by an army that's 30,000
[59:05]approximately you are knowing that you will be slaughtered very soon your
[59:09]family will be taken as captives right you're the grandson of the
[59:14]holy prophet what do you say to Allah most of us will
[59:18]say Ya Allah please please please get me out of here please
[59:22]I'm desperate I need help please give me water please save me
[59:25]wouldn't we say that look at the words of before that look
[59:31]at du what's the number one theme in Du Al that's it
[59:36]alham and we don't have time for me to read some of
[59:41]the the parts in Arabic I'll just translate it very quickly Imam
[59:44]goes on in Du he says Ya Allah you created me from
[59:49]dust you put me in the loin of my parents you you
[59:52]put me in the family of belief you gave me Health you
[59:54]gave me a merciful mother I don't know where to start Ya
[60:02]Allah with all the favors that you have given me then he
[60:05]says I swear I bear witness from my conscience the light of
[60:09]my sight the lines of my forehead the nasal cavities inside of
[60:12]my lips the socket of my pet from the flesh the blood
[60:17]the skin the hair the joints the ribs the nerves the bones
[60:20]the brains all my organs all the ages all the times if
[60:26]I do all the effort that I can to thank you it
[60:31]will never be enough to thank you for one of these favors
[60:33]because first I need to thank you for giving me the opportunity
[60:37]to thank you this is Hussein Ali he was the master of
[60:44]alhamdulillah he was the master of genuine sincere thankfulness and praise of
[60:50]Allah subhanahu waa on the day of a the first Dua what
[60:55]did he say to Allah yes then he goes on to say
[61:08]you are the master of every blessing in the plains ofala is
[61:20]saying blessings amazing blessings why fast forward a few days kufa one
[61:27]of the teachers ofala one of the special individuals close to Hussein
[61:34]Ali his Brave loyal altruistic mountain of patience sister is asked by
[61:45]the you've all heard this yes one of the most famous lines
[61:51]we all know it I have not seen except Beauty Zab mastered
[61:55]thanks and praise alham why she could have said you know what
[62:00]it was so difficult I don't know where to start but you
[62:03]won't break us yes we are broken as far as we've lost
[62:07]our loved ones and we are in a bad State she could
[62:12]have said that but she everything was beautiful notice that a true
[62:17]friend of Allah has reached that level where by the lens by
[62:19]which they look at things is different to how many how people
[62:25]look at it yes now my dear sisters and brothers I'd like
[62:28]to just end by this that if we want to practice patience
[62:31]in the best possible way trust me if you and I want
[62:37]to be of those who have the that had the that Z
[62:44]had that had that also celebrating his auspicious birth also had these
[62:51]Heroes of must if we want it then we must to tr
[62:56]must train the muscle Within by exercising Praise of Allah and understanding
[63:02]alhamdulillah and applying it to every aspect of Our Lives because we
[63:06]are so honored and I'll end with this beautiful story that I
[63:11]heard a few months ago that really really resonated with me there
[63:15]is a a scholar today he's a historian in Iraq that I
[63:21]have a friend of mine who is a servant Hussein and he
[63:27]has been serving Z of Hussein for years where inala even at
[63:33]the time of the desport Sadam he used to provide for the
[63:37]Z you know the rugs that they would sit on to perform
[63:39]Z in the sah and he continued to serve the Z of
[63:45]IM Hussein even after Allah removed the despotic regime now he says
[63:49]one day we were traveling together the Sheikh who's now alhamdulillah in
[63:52]carala alive he said I looked at this Hajj and he was
[63:56]reflec so I said to him AB his name is why are
[63:59]you in this state he said to him I'm going to tell
[64:02]you something but necessarily you're not going to believe it he said
[64:04]tell me what he said we've come for Zar ofala and IM
[64:08]Hussein this Thursday but next Thursday I won't be here he said
[64:12]where will you be where are you going are you traveling anywhere
[64:15]he says yes I'm not going to be alive next week so
[64:19]the she said do you know how do you know you're going
[64:25]to die he said to him now let me tell you this
[64:27]that a few days ago I saw something which is unbelievable in
[64:32]my dreams yes in my dream I saw myself in the shore
[64:35]with many thousands of people and there was a massive sea and
[64:40]there was small these bellam you know small boats and these people
[64:43]were being carried and I stepped onto this small boat and we
[64:47]were in the sea and when all of a sudden we saw
[64:48]a massive beautiful ship that is so large but I so amazing
[64:54]I've never seen a ship like this ever in my life before
[65:01]I was captivated by it so I asked those who were taking
[65:04]us what is this ship they saidin this is the ship of
[65:11]Hussein of course Hussein is the ship of Salvation and the lantern
[65:18]of guidance he said that we were all guided into towards the
[65:22]ship so I could see thousands of people inside the ship and
[65:24]I see these creations of Allah which later began to understand that
[65:27]they Mala completely white I couldn't see their faces he said then
[65:30]what I saw shocked me people began to throw themselves from the
[65:37]ship onto the water drowning in the hundreds and desperately I sought
[65:41]to save them I came to save them but these creations of
[65:45]God who are standing there watching them looked at me and said
[65:50]don't don't do anything let them so I asked them why are
[65:53]they throwing themselves into the water what is going on on they
[65:58]said to me these individuals had a chance to remain in the
[66:04]ship of Hussein but they chose to leave it they chose to
[66:09]drown yes don't lose Hussein yes today if I'm a true Hussein
[66:18]I need to be exhibiting in my life and for that to
[66:21]happen I need to change the way I look at what's happening
[66:26]around the world from a lens of a Believer who's submissive to
[66:29]Allah and understands that Allah has a plan for everything and never
[66:33]give up never despondent but completely tranquil with the decree and the
[66:40]plan of the almighty subhanahu wa taala so that I can be
[66:47]individuals who remain and this Haj Abu Zab said that angel of
[66:50]Allah looked at me and said next week you will be with
[66:54]Hussein this shikh said when he told me this I was a
[67:00]bit you know with dreams most of us were're not that sure
[67:02]with dreams so he said I I took it he said a
[67:05]few days later I heard that Hussein has passed away and that
[67:11]dream became a reality and may Allah subhanahu waala grant us all
[67:17]to become Hussein May allaha bless us to practice beautiful patience may
[67:22]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow us to be thankful and great grateful
[67:26]and to praise him and to see the bigger picture that is
[67:31]happening around us and around the world may Allah subhana tala bless
[67:33]us to visit the Blessed Shrine of inala inala IM to see
[67:45]the day in which the shrine of and IM Hussein and abas
[67:52]and of course IM Z continue to rise and visited by millions
[67:56]and millions every single day in let's give him another loud muhamad
[68:32]so P so reflecting on what say was saying patience and submission
[68:39]that is the ultimate goal resilience is what im Hussein taught us
[68:42]and it's truly definition of what it means to be a Muslim
[68:44]literary speaking a Muslim means that submission to Allah subhana wa tal
[68:48]we say like you're devoting yourself to Allah subhana wa tala and
[68:54]Subhan Allah it seems that IM Hussein is always that that light
[68:57]in the darkness that source of light that quenches our soul and
[69:02]and to talk about quenching our soul we always turn to Hussein
[69:07]because these are really the beacons these are the rivers that quench
[69:10]us now talking about the physical body how can we quench our
[69:13]physical body we have now dear brother Ali who's going to talk
[69:17]about the my Cafe the that newly open here at the Islamic
[69:21]Institute of America to give a few words regarding its progress and
[69:24]I also advise check it out inallah cuz obviously allow drinks here
[69:27]in the atrium but with care and caution inshallah so please help
[69:31]me welcome brother Ali to reflect about the cafe with three Muhammad
[69:55]Muhammad you know I was nervous at first about this but I
[70:03]remember it's Haram to judge so I'm feeling a little better now
[70:06]uh my name is Ali and I'm the manager of the my
[70:10]Cafe and on the behalf of my Cafe I'm here to make
[70:13]a couple announcements um first of all I'd like to tell you
[70:15]a little bit about the my Cafe the my Cafe is obviously
[70:18]a cafe that's located here to your right on the hallway and
[70:20]it is a donation based business with all profits going back into
[70:24]the myc the myc is the Muslim youth connection group and this
[70:29]group kind of organizes all the programs such as the program that
[70:33]you had today and Ramadan programs and even programs for mam right
[70:36]so by grabbing your favorite cup of coffee or whatever drink you
[70:43]prefer you not only support the youth but also get Sak so
[70:45]it's a win-win-win situation you don't get many of those in life
