How to Pray 'Salat Al-Ihtiyat' and 'Sajdatay Al-Sahw'

[0:07]Bismillah al-Rahman Al-raheem The precautionary prayer, aka ṣalāt al-iḥtiyāṭ, is a prayer

[0:13]we do after having some fixable doubts in obligatory prayers.

[0:18]Another video explains those doubts.

[0:22]The way to pray it is as follows: Immediately after the salaam

[0:29]of the prayer (you’ve just done and had doubt in), do the

[0:33]intention of performing ṣalāt al-iḥtiyāṭ, say takbīr, recite Sūrat al-Ḥamd, and perform

[0:39]rukūʿ and two sajdahs.

[0:41]If it’s a one-ruka prayer, do tashaud and salaam to finish prayer.

[0:46]If it’s a 2-ruka one, stand up and do another ruka the

[0:50]same way as the first, then do tashud and salam.

[0:59]Please note there is no recitation of a second chapter after fateha

[1:03]in this salah, nor is there qunoot.

[1:06]Recite the fateha in a whisper and not loudly.

[1:10]Sajdata al-sahw This is the two prostrations after salah that needs to

[1:17]be done because of the following situations: 1.

[1:20]Forgetting to say tashahud 2.

[1:23]in a four rakʿah prayer after going into the second sajdah, you

[1:29]doubt whether you’ve performed four or five rakʿahs, or doubt whether you’ve

[1:35]performed four or six rakʿahs, 3.

[1:38]Talking by mistake in salah 4.

[1:41]You know that mistakenly you’ve omitted or added something in a prayer

[1:46]that is not rukn (one of the 5 pillars of salah) 5.

[1:50]You say the salām of the prayer at a time when you’re

[1:55]not supposed to; for example, in the first rakʿah.

[1:58]This is how to pray it: immediately after the salām of the

[2:05]prayer, do whatever you missed as qadha, for eg tashaud, then you

[2:11]make the intention of sajdatā al-sahw and place the forehead, based on

[2:16]obligatory precaution, on something on which performing sajdah is permitted.

[2:22]Then its recommended to recite Bismil lāhi wa billāh, assalāmu alayka ayyuhan

[2:30]nabiyyu wa rahmatul lāhi wa barakātuh Then, sit up and go into

[2:36]sajdah again, and repeat this dikr.

[2:40]Then sit up, say tashahhud, and recite: assalāmu ʿalaykum wa raḥmatul lāhi

[2:45]wa barakātuh If you unintentionally forget to do sajdat al-sahw, do it

[2:47]as soon as you remember.
