[0:59]all praise belongs to allah and i begin in allah's name and

[1:02]it's a blessing that we have this opportunity together whether it's in

[1:07]celebration or in commemoration both are blessings of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[1:14]and the fact that allah has given us the opportunity to represent

[1:18]him on this earth it's a transient world as we know and

[1:22]this is a world where there is no way we can be

[1:24]stable no matter what we do there is instability but the stability

[1:30]as i mentioned in summary is the fact that we make efforts

[1:33]to realize what the true function of our existence is which is

[1:36]to connect with allah this sentence is the foundation of all conversations

[1:45]allah created us we're returning to him only he is eternal only

[1:50]he is stable only he is the absolute and only he is

[1:53]the absolute good when we understand this thoroughly thoroughly in our trials

[1:58]and tribulations in this world we will begin to realize and become

[2:02]submissive because ultimately no matter how much wealth we acquire how much

[2:07]notoriety we acquire no matter what we get in this world no

[2:11]matter how many empires we build we have to let go of

[2:14]that allah says that your wealth and your family are the beauty

[2:30]of this world they're a blessing blessing and by the way acquiring

[2:34]wealth and being rich and being a billionaire and living in nice

[2:38]homes is not forbidden in islam islam actually promotes that that the

[2:43]standards of our community should elevate we should all be minimum middle

[2:47]class middle upper upper class no problem poverty should be eradicated islam

[2:54]promotes that even the quran allah says who made haram for you

[3:03]the good things that god has made on this earth these are

[3:06]good things for you and allah says in the day of judgment

[3:09]it's exclusively for the good doers the believers because allah says i

[3:13]am a maker of good things but i allow you to destroy

[3:16]it and i cause havoc so that you realize and appreciate the

[3:20]mercy that is given to us you will notice humans when they

[3:24]are threatened they become more cognizant of the value of the threat

[3:29]you find mothers against drunk driving become more prevalent beings that are

[3:34]going to be very proactive against drunk driving because somebody they love

[3:39]especially their children were killed due to drunk driving that destruction leads

[3:44]to greater construction but that doesn't mean we should put ourselves in

[3:48]the way of destruction we should work to constantly construct but understand

[3:52]the whole holistic system of allah's system that when there is destruction

[3:57]when there is a loss when we do have problems and trials

[4:01]and tribulations it's holistically good but at the moment it's very painful

[4:06]it's what we call tough love sometimes the commemoration of karbala is

[4:11]precisely the lesson of how to deal with tough love as i

[4:15]mentioned no one is more deserving of praise and honor and happiness

[4:20]and pleasure than prophets and imams they're chosen agents of god and

[4:25]their families who god has chosen specifically to deliver the message of

[4:28]allah yet they were the ones who received the most punishment in

[4:33]society they were the ones who were killed the most they were

[4:36]the ones who were abused the most imprisoned the most lied upon

[4:40]the most you know so why is that the case shouldn't rationality

[4:44]say that when god chooses an agent that's the agent that should

[4:47]be the most comfortable well allah is showing us that on this

[4:50]earth it's not the prescription as such though we should make every

[4:54]effort to bring peace and harmony and justice and to live in

[4:59]an equitable peaceful manner on this earth but beware allah says that

[5:04]while you do it the evil forces will come against you and

[5:08]i'm a true believer that the way we subdue the evil forces

[5:12]is when the good forces become the most prominent figures when there

[5:17]is a lot of good in society then evil has a difficult

[5:21]time promoting its its destructive manners but when you and i claim

[5:27]to be good and we are silent and we are not progressive

[5:31]and then we are not proactive and we do not prevent evil

[5:35]then evil will take over us and we will become its slaves

[5:39]karbala is precisely that situation where people allowed evil forces to come

[5:43]to power and when that power reached its pinnacle it became intensely

[5:49]destructive to the extent that it even lost its vision such that

[5:53]within the first three years yazid killed imam hussein desecrated the you

[5:58]know desecrated the prophet's mosque the masjid you know in madinah al

[6:06]munawwara these are the symbols these are the foundations of islam the

[6:10]very one who's claiming to be the khalifa in islam is destroying

[6:14]the very foundation of islam this is how shaitan works he says

[6:18]i will destroy you from the heart and then of course the

[6:22]third he burnt the kaaba i mean if i ask any muslim

[6:25]in the world today let's go burn the prophet's mosque let's go

[6:32]dogs wander in the masjid of the prophet and then let's take

[6:35]fireballs and cannons and drop it on the kaaba which muslim will

[6:38]tell you you're a good person which muslim in his papa mind

[6:43]which non muslim will tell you you're a good muslim which person

[6:46]with half a brain will tell you a good person we had

[6:49]a caliph who did that who came and burnt all these three

[6:52]that abject recklessness can only be possible when the people acquiesce to

[6:57]such leadership yesterday i talked about partially that we find today when

[7:03]the presidency is taking place people with enormous wealth who are liars

[7:07]cheaters xenophobes bigots islamophobes yet they're coming to power there's all these

[7:16]protests on the streets i think the greatest protest is when you

[7:21]and i unite as a community when we look at each other

[7:24]with dignity and we promote goodness and not allow wretched and wicked

[7:29]politicians to reach power it's easier said than done agreed but i

[7:34]believe at the grassroots level when you and i as a community

[7:36]get together and we work together to unite ourselves for the good

[7:41]cause of reaching allah in an upright way maintain your faces upright

[7:55]towards allah this is the system of god when you and i

[8:00]promote that and not bigotry and not backbiting and not divisiveness where

[8:06]we cause backbiting and divisions within our community then the enemy will

[8:11]use us as agents by which they will promote their wickedness so

[8:17]let's be very careful with that muhammad wa al muhammad you'll see

[8:25]that tonight as you know yesterday these three nights arba'in let me

[8:29]establish a few principal points so i don't lose my chain of

[8:33]thought people may be asking why do we commemorate arba'in well arba'in

[8:39]is a tradition quran even mentions it in some ways but the

[8:46]real principle of arba'in is that we don't forget when a tragic

[8:51]event takes place and then you commemorate it within the forty days

[8:56]and on the fortieth day you commemorate it again it's basically setting

[9:00]a standard that this event should never be forgotten hence arba'in it's

[9:04]also its impetus behind it is that within forty days if you

[9:09]have understood its value hopefully within the forty days after a momentous

[9:14]event takes place it takes time to absorb what just happened what

[9:20]do i need to do with this message see when musa went

[9:23]up to the mountain allah kept him up there for forty days

[9:28]people lost faith in him they made an idol out of a

[9:32]golden calf and started to worship it so when we look at

[10:00]the great sacrifice of imam hussain with mere tears tears are very

[10:05]important crying and having love and to show expressions of grief are

[10:10]within the system of islam even when hamzah was martyred in uhud

[10:18]the messenger commanded the people of madinah to go to the house

[10:21]of hamzah to cry in the house of hamzah it's a tradition

[10:24]of the prophet it's a sunnah but what do we do we

[10:27]just become cyclical criers we put on the black garb we become

[10:33]very sad and we mourn often i ask people how many lectures

[10:37]of yours it's all hundreds what did you derive did you understand

[10:41]tawheed from it the bigotry continues within our community we're still bigots

[10:47]we're still racist we're still tribal we're still backbiters we're still cheaters

[10:55]then what did we gain out of the message of karbala you

[10:58]think imam hussein just went so that he should become a hero

[11:02]no he is the upholder of truth he is the upholder of

[11:07]justice that when yazid wanted him to submit to the evil ways

[11:14]such that the the moral prescription is becomes oblivious becomes hidden so

[12:21]their intrepidation how do we eradicate these resistance groups and then they're

[12:27]wondering how did they get their strength and they're so smart even

[15:12]run we give up we change we join the enemy forces leave

[15:16]that alone within our community we cannot be divided how are we

[15:21]gonna present the religion of allah if we ourselves cannot be united

[15:26]within our communities we have divisions and because we have difference of

[15:31]opinion and i told you yesterday who doesn't have a difference of

[15:36]opinion there are no two people on earth who have similar opinions

[15:40]and everything impossible to have same opinions impossible so now i fight

[15:45]you because i don't agree with you rather than say what's the

[15:49]mission of this disagreement we come to an equitable agreement that your

[15:53]way is different from my way but let's work together to promote

[15:57]the bigger end do we do that even within our centers today

[16:03]we have divisions all our centers in this town and everywhere in

[16:07]the world and i'm not addressing this town these videos are being

[16:10]watched all over the world it's not here when i mentioned directors

[16:14]of institutions or whatever it's not this town it's all over the

[16:17]world this problem is prevalent everywhere even at the presidential level i

[18:19]dividers and if you and i take the lesson of karbala we

[18:23]must be united those 72 soldiers who fought with imam hussein were

[18:28]united if there was even an ounce of difference between them the

[18:32]the message of imam hussein would not have been carried across that's

[18:35]why imam says my companions are the finest companions and you and

[18:40]i cry for them we we bear allegiance to how great they

[18:43]were we say we bear witness you pay you prayed you gave

[19:01]charity you believed in prophet you had certainty we bear witness we

[19:06]today in history when we read ziyara we say oh imam you

[19:10]and your companions were prayerful upholders we bear witness but we don't

[19:15]practice it we give lip service but we don't practice it we're

[19:18]so ever so quick to find faults in everybody so that we

[22:12]in promoting good sure it's hard to promote good in the world

[22:15]where there's too much evil it's hard but that's the beauty of

[22:20]hard work but by the same token let's not say to ourselves

[22:59]broad vision you cannot say that people with broad visions will never

[23:04]say such sentences people with broad vision will look at the of

[23:08]allah universally not only on earth but all other beings in the

[23:13]universe and say what's going to happen to all of them in

[23:15]the mercy of god for they all came into existence by his

[23:19]will they're all sustained and maintained by his will what will happen

[23:23]to their end we can conclude that because god is so merciful

[23:27]and we can establish that rationally we can establish the goodness and

[23:31]the rationality of allah logically i don't have time to mention it

[23:35]here but i'm telling you it's very easy to establish the mercy

[23:40]the universal good of god as the precursor to all that exists

[23:44]in the universe and therefore we can deduce and induce that god

[23:50]is so merciful that he only creates for good and the one

[23:55]who goes to hell forever is the one within the good uses

[23:59]his power of limited free will to reject allah and god gives

[24:04]that being whatever they want so if the person wants to go

[24:07]to hell and loves it god says no problem i put you

[24:11]there and i'll leave you there forever now you might think who's

[24:14]that there are people who are recalcitrant a good example is iblis

[24:19]iblis was given access to knowledge the average creation did not have

[24:26]and he was elevated from earth to be among the angelic beings

[24:31]that's a privilege now if you and i had that privilege of

[24:35]being elevated among the angelic beings the likelihood of you and i

[24:39]disobeying allah would be very low because we would be so in

[24:43]awe with the haqq we would be so in awe with the

[24:46]truth this is why angels don't disobey allah though they have free

[24:49]will they don't disobey allah because they're in awe but some creatures

[24:53]who are given certain powers you find they become recalcitrant they challenge

[24:58]allah iblis had reached a high status there's a moral message in

[25:04]this he was very worshiping and allah raised his status when allah

[25:10]raised his status he became very honored even among the angels there's

[25:15]a moral lesson in this the moral lesson in this is that

[25:19]when you and i reach high positions and we are honored and

[25:24]we become powerful people and we become globally recognized that's when the

[25:30]most evil will show up because power corrupts when i become a

[25:36]leader of a community and i have the keys to the institution

[25:40]and i have money to play with corruption becomes very prevalent in

[25:44]my hands that's why you notice many leaders who take positions today

[25:47]have some something evil under their belt because it's easy to get

[25:52]corrupted government officials typically you'll notice they do all kinds of embezzlements

[25:57]many get away with it but some get caught because it's once

[26:01]you reach power and there's so much money coming in your direction

[26:04]it's hard not to let it go into your pockets shaitan had

[26:09]the same problem he reached the very high stages of respect and

[26:15]allah saw in his heart this arrogance that you know i'm special

[26:20]i'm chosen we have it in the human race when we become

[26:25]great great people and highly recognized within our hearts we say i'm

[26:28]better than all of you i'm special i'm chosen people do that

[26:33]all the time hitler had a good stance in using that to

[26:37]tell that the aryan race is the chosen race and it's not

[26:39]only hitler we do it all the time my village is better

[27:32]messenger the prophet has greater right on the believers than the believers

[27:35]have on themselves even he when you see children he would stoop

[27:50]follow we just do lip service we claim muslim we are muslim

[27:55]followers of muhammad we are muslim but we don't practice rahma we

[28:00]don't practice this generosity we do not practice destruction of bigotry rather

[28:05]we promote it this is why there's bala in the world because

[28:10]an enemy shaitan says easy easy easy he's like me see allah

[28:40]islamic deeds or christian deeds and jewish deeds you think god is

[28:45]going to accept us on judgment day when there's an ounce of

[28:47]bigotry in us i think that's what's going to be judged on

[28:50]judgment day so when you and i ask me the question or

[28:53]anybody who is going to enter paradise it's at this level not

[28:58]at the sophisticated levels of my shahadatayn shahadatayn is a high level

[29:02]of iman when i say muhammad rasoolah it's a high level of

[29:08]iman high level on judgment day that will be also question that

[29:14]you were educated in this you were chosen you were given a

[29:18]flag to lead the world the world that didn't understand shahadatayn the

[29:23]world that didn't understand the principle the world that didn't know the

[29:26]quran did not even read it you had access to it you

[29:30]had access to greater knowledge than the rest of the world what

[29:32]did you do with it you find you and i most of

[29:36]the time we highly open the quran and when the quran is

[29:40]burnt we get angry but we didn't open it yeah but it's

[29:43]a secret book the quran on judgment they will complain the prophet

[29:47]says my lord my community ignore this book and this is in

[29:55]the quran that means it will happen from now till the day

[29:59]of judgment do you and i want to be part of that

[30:01]statistic then when the prophet complains do you and i want to

[30:04]be the ones who should be accused or do we stop that

[30:06]accusation for ourselves now by saying oh allah when the prophet does

[30:09]complain it's not me far from me i am a reciter of

[30:14]quran alhamdulillah that's what you and i need to do but allah

[30:17]says i've chosen you i've given you choice i've given you wisdom

[30:23]he has given us isaat he has elevated us why this isaat

[30:30]allah says go lead the pack instead of us as a community

[30:34]bickering fighting fault finding doing haram and our children now indulging in

[30:39]drugs as i mentioned yesterday let me give you an example of

[30:41]the filthiness of drugs happening in this town a group of youth

[30:45]get together some of you may have heard and they're told when

[30:49]you come to this party take some medications from your parents steal

[30:53]it right here it's happening in town then all the youth come

[31:00]they steal some medications from the parents parents they open up all

[31:03]the bottles they put it into a big basket bowl then everybody

[31:09]must take a pill they shuffle the pills then all all in

[31:13]the party needs to take one and then see the effect thirty

[31:17]minutes later this is where we have reached the level of decadence

[31:21]in our community where our young generations today are having parties like

[31:26]this to get high to blast their brains to take hallucinogenic stuff

[31:33]like where we say lsd they're taking in crystal meth it's become

[31:38]so popular today and then the manufacturers are adding more poisons in

[31:41]it and people are overdosing in one dose they don't know what

[31:45]they're taking and parents are crying what happened my child was in

[31:48]the university first university i've saved my whole life for for them

[31:53]to go to this university it took one little white powder and

[31:55]it wiped them out this is where we should reach we muslims

[32:00]our children especially in fact no human being should be doing this

[32:04]but the conversation is specifically here within our community that we should

[32:08]at least work within our community to prevent these kind of problems

[32:12]they become prevalent when we forget allah they become prevalent when we

[32:16]have no vision when our vision is short lived when our vision

[32:19]is just to become rich and cheat and lie the child who's

[32:22]innocent who's full of wisdom towards allah starts to get shattered every

[32:26]day you know have cases where i see kids come out of

[32:29]school and they walk home alone mom and dad doesn't even come

[32:32]to pick them up we ask them where are your parents oh

[32:35]they're late so we confront the parents why are you late to

[32:38]pick up your child oh i'm busy i'm busy then we ask

[32:45]the child what do you do says no i go home i

[32:46]cook on my own we have our own we do you talk

[32:48]to your brothers and sisters no we don't you don't talk to

[32:51]your brothers no you you don't even say salaam to them no

[32:55]we don't what is this we see it here we do intervention

[32:59]all the time we're watching this happening in front of our eyes

[33:03]how have we reached this law that our children growing up in

[33:06]the houses where fathers don't even hug their sons did you know

[33:10]that i have sons who i deal with who are so sad

[37:15]one second if the red light you know goes to green people

[37:18]are hooting at you and everybody wants everybody's got road rage in

[37:22]america same thing you're looking this ghadab this anger it's just explosive

[37:29]and then where do they take out all their frustrations they go

[37:31]watch mmas they go watch worldwide wrestling federations big studded guys bouncing

[37:35]each other know beat him kill him yeah we're like romans you

[37:39]know going to watch the lions eat the christians yeah because that's

[37:41]pleasure yeah we've reached that level of abject lowness because we've forgotten

[37:46]allah instead of being proactive and positive and looking at each other

[37:50]with smile and praying for each other and finding only good judgments

[37:54]and good qualities for each other we are poking fingers at each

[37:57]other and causing stress and so much stress and anger within ourselves

[38:02]that it's very hard to love allah subhanahu ta'ala look you might

[38:11]think what is karbala what is the solution to our problems this

[38:15]that father there was one father who didn't hug his son i

[38:18]told him come and hug him he says can't you can't hug

[38:22]your own son he says i've never done it i don't know

[38:24]how to do it i said come you hug me i'll show

[38:26]you how to do it and he had no problem hugging me

[38:32]so i said why do you have a problem hugging your son

[38:35]in his mind i'm a father see i'm the boss and how

[38:41]do i do that the son is crying all i want is

[38:46]my father to look at me and to hug me that's all

[38:48]i want you know we deal with this problem with kids who

[38:51]don't do well in education you all wonder why are they not

[38:53]doing well why are they not studying somebody says oh you're dumb

[38:56]you know your brain your iq is low i have never met

[38:59]a child who's dumb there's no dumb child even children who have

[39:05]all some kind of issues in their chemical systems in their bodies

[39:09]they're not dumb they're super sharp you just have to tap it

[39:14]bring it out and let them rise this is the of allah

[39:23]this crowd and those who are listening turn to your children children

[39:26]turn to your parents look at them with respect with dignity and

[39:31]harmony kiss them kiss their hands hug them you will lose them

[39:36]and no one is more powerful and precious to us than that

[39:40]go to our parents and look at them with eyes of kindness

[39:43]allah says in the quran we have enjoined oneness to you towards

[39:51]allah and that you be kind to your parents this is this

[39:55]is the only verse in the quran where tawheed is connected with

[39:58]parents there's no other verse like that that's how powerful parents are

[40:02]do we we're harsh with our parents parents are harsh with their

[40:06]children they have their own problems and then they throw it on

[40:08]society this collection leads to destruction leads to lack of faith when

[40:14]you ask children to pray they say why should i pray my

[40:17]parents don't get along they're divorcing each other they're constantly fighting in

[40:20]the house i had a boy in town tell me i'm an

[40:23]atheist i said why are you an atheist he says i i've

[40:27]done my research i said sit down let's talk about your research

[40:30]i wanna i wanna learn ten minutes later i says wow you

[40:36]are so off base in your research but i admire you for

[40:42]the work you've done you're young and you're smart but tell me

[40:46]the real reason why you're an atheist come on then he blurts

[42:56]problems of marital problems stem all within the same principles and when

[43:02]we reach high status we should be very cognizant of those below

[43:05]us we must not be arrogant we we should not be destructive

[43:10]like iblis who carries a vengeance his vengeance is till the day

[43:14]of judgment judgment he says give me till the day of judgment

[43:18]i wanna destroy humanity beings like iblis will probably remain in hell

[43:24]will remain in hell forever because after seeing all of that they

[43:29]reject the mercy of allah then allah says you want to be

[43:32]in hell by the way iblis knows he's going to hell and

[43:34]iblis knows what hell is like allah has exposed it to him

[43:37]and he has no problem with it so allah says fine you

[43:41]want to be a hell creature we'll leave you there forever there

[43:45]are some humans who are like that too that no matter how

[43:48]much guidance they're given they refuse you'll find such beings refuse to

[43:53]obey allah and they consistently create fitnah people like saddam when even

[43:57]after he's arrested he's so arrogant even to the point of his

[44:01]execution he's so arrogant you know such a person is probably going

[44:05]to be very low in the status of hell but only allah

[44:08]knows but what about the rest of humanity is the rest of

[44:12]humanity muslim christian jew atheist hindu buddhist are they creating trouble in

[44:17]the world are they going around creating fitna in society are they

[44:20]destroying people no the majority of the human race is good in

[44:25]fact 99.9% of the world is holistically good in the world what

[44:30]will happen to them allah mentions in the quran either they are

[44:33]meaning they've been denied this knowledge how many non muslims in the

[44:40]world know the essence of the deen of allah in the way

[44:44]it should be known even us as muslims we've heard hundreds of

[44:47]lectures we're still grappling with some basic principles how about those who

[44:51]have never heard of islam what will happen to them allah is

[44:54]merciful on judgment day allah will judge them based on their moral

[44:57]conscience were you honest were you sincere were you generous were you

[45:02]loving were you caring were you sharing were you giving were you

[45:05]forgiving now you and i have cannot reject this so then what

[45:11]do you think you and i will be judged on judgment day

[45:13]our titles our ability to memorize quran our ability to name companions

[45:21]you think that's what's going to get us into paradise no same

[45:25]as the rest of humanity were you honest were you just were

[45:28]you fair were you doing good things did you promote good or

[45:32]did you not and if you do not you fail so it's

[45:36]an irony that we may consider ourselves sophisticated muslims when it doesn't

[45:40]boil down to basic principles of right versus wrong then we are

[45:44]as wrong and may in fact we may be punished much more

[45:47]than those because at least we have been given this knowledge and

[45:50]we don't practice and if they haven't been given knowledge maybe they

[45:53]have an excuse on judgment day what's your excuse and mine salamat

[45:57]al muhammad wa al muhammad brothers and sisters tonight is the last

[46:04]night and the message of allah is that allah says in the

[46:09]quran and i started this surat al asr by time man is

[46:16]at a loss mankind is at a loss time is a trajectory

[46:22]in one direction it's a vector in one direction you cannot go

[46:27]back in time and within this scale of time everything we do

[46:31]will count for us and or against us so allah says by

[46:39]time let us not fool ourselves as i mentioned yesterday the older

[46:43]we grow the less opportunities we have to grab so grab it

[46:48]now and be good at a young age rise and promote good

[46:52]let's be united and promote good allah says all of mankind is

[46:59]at a loss you might say oh allah how can you put

[47:01]us at a loss you're merciful allah says there's a condition the

[47:05]condition is those who believe believe in what in the promotion of

[47:12]allah of course but assuming you're a hindu assuming you're an atheist

[47:16]you are struggling to get to the truth you're struggling to be

[47:19]good you're struggling to promote haq then only allah on judgment day

[47:23]will judge in the quran allah says the mustad afeem we may

[47:26]grant them paradise we may grant them hell only allah knows but

[47:31]as i mentioned before for us to thank you for us to

[47:34]reach that stage with which hell becomes so prevalent you and i

[47:39]have to work very hard what you and i need to work

[47:42]is to become allah says on judgment day there'll be three groups

[47:57]what we call three groups the third group that i'm talking about

[48:03]is the group you and i should work towards we should say

[48:07]i want to work hard to enter the highest level of paradise

[48:12]look all of us human beings when we have good and we

[48:15]have better we always take the better allah says i have laid

[48:19]paradise in many scales you take which one you want struggle but

[48:24]go for the highest why shortchange yourself for the lower when you

[48:28]can get the highest this conversation is about that that when we

[48:32]talk about imam hussain he struggled you say why did he struggle

[48:37]allah chose him but he is the highest of the high allah

[48:42]these are the near ones and the ones who will enter paradise

[48:50]without being questioned there will be no question on judgment day for

[48:53]them don't you and i want to reach the day of judgment

[48:56]the day of equity where our morals will be questioned and we're

[48:59]not questioned we're told just enter isn't that the greatest feeling we

[49:04]can achieve it if you and i struggle to remain steadfast and

[49:08]to refuse to lie and to cheat salaam alaikum muhammad three groups

[49:16]of people those who will receive their deeds in the left hand

[49:19]those who will receive their deeds in the right hand these are

[49:20]metaphors by the way left and right the point is certainly we

[49:24]must avoid the left if you look at the human race what

[49:28]counts is at that level of goodness you and i must be

[49:32]united not only within our communities we must look at the common

[49:35]grounds but we must be united between sunni and shia today the

[49:40]enemy has divided us and you find polarization on both sides you've

[49:45]got groups condemning the other side one group is calling the other

[49:48]group kafir this is not within the prescriptions of islam the prescription

[49:53]of islam is unite but you and i may ask how do

[49:57]i unite at what level do i unite without giving up principles

[50:00]no one ever said give up principles unite at the principle of

[50:04]promoting good and forbidding evil unite at the principle of generosity and

[50:08]care and looking at that human being as the creation of allah

[50:12]come under that unity and see how the enemy gets so afraid

[50:16]of us they will run away when we meet christians unite at

[50:19]the at the commonalities isa is a common ground for us god

[50:23]is a common ground for us the scripture is a common ground

[50:26]paradise and hell is a common ground in discussion prophets are a

[50:30]common ground for us to discuss when i discuss with christian brethren

[50:33]they have the same desire to enter paradise like you and i

[50:36]how can you and i go condemn them to hell when it

[50:38]is not within our prescription and it is not within islam as

[50:42]a quick paraphrase i don't have time to recite it now time

[50:44]is running short you'll you find in surat al hajj twenty second

[50:47]chapter the fortieth verse allah is describing this that he say the

[50:52]reason the messenger was allowed to fight as you know for the

[50:56]first thirteen years the messenger was not allowed to raise a finger

[51:00]islam is a religion of peace it's not a religion of war

[51:03]when the meccans punished the prophet for claiming to be the prophet

[51:07]of god and claiming that god is one and therefore their idols

[51:11]were false they punished him and his people people like amar ibn

[51:15]yasir's face was burnt on the desert because he said was punished

[51:22]because he said they came to the prophet they're killing us they're

[51:25]beating us you see yasser and sumayyah were killed in in front

[51:31]of ammar but the prophet said we cannot lift a finger allah

[51:34]has not allowed us to fight we are a religion of peace

[51:39]that's why the name islam is properly named no religion in the

[51:43]world is named properly all religions are named after persons and objects

[51:47]islam is the only religion named properly as a verb and a

[51:50]noun which means peace and submission subhanallah the enemy wants to equate

[51:55]terror with islam when the very name of the religion means peace

[51:59]and allah is the best of planners when allah says means that

[52:09]this religion god has perfected he left us and he calls it

[52:12]al islam allah named it and allah says i promise you this

[52:16]religion will supersede but how will it supersede you and i have

[52:20]to be the proponents and ambassadors of peace you find allah is

[52:31]saying to the prophet so in the quran in the twenty second

[52:34]chapter fortieth verse allah says they expelled them as you know hijra

[52:40]was wajib on the prophet came to kill the prophet he moves

[52:43]to medina the enemy now has amassed an army to attack the

[52:47]messenger so in this surah allah is expressing the reason why they

[52:54]have been allowed to fight and i want you to pay attention

[52:56]to this ayah i'm paraphrasing here because i don't have time allah

[53:02]says the reason we are allowing the messenger to defend is only

[53:06]because they proclaim god and were it not for him to rise

[53:13]and defend churches synagogues cloisters masajid would all be destroyed where allah

[53:25]is remembered most i want you to pay attention to this verse

[53:30]allah is talking about churches synagogues cloisters and masajid where allah's name

[53:37]is mentioned much how many of us muslims would dare say that

[53:41]in churches allah's name is mentioned how many of us muslims would

[53:44]say that in synagogues allah's name is mentioned allah in the quran

[53:47]mentions that his name is mentioned much and the messenger rose to

[53:52]protect those houses of worship not only the house of allah which

[53:55]is the kaaba not only the masajid but even the churches and

[53:58]the and the synagogues and today we find people claiming to be

[54:01]muslims that the minute they get power they burn churches down they

[54:04]even burn masjid down these are not ambassadors of peace in islam

[54:10]quran says you uphold it imam ali was traveling and there was

[54:14]a dilapidated church meaning it was broken down there was nobody there

[54:19]and some of the companions made a derogatory statement against the church

[54:23]that this is where isa was worshipped imam ali alaihi salam turns

[54:28]to them and says don't say that allah was worshipped here respected

[54:33]even though it is in ruins respected even now for god was

[54:38]remembered here this is islam my brothers and sisters do we follow

[54:42]this many of us don't we talk about sunni shia we condemn

[54:47]the other side let's go ask imam ali when his khilafa was

[54:51]taken a man of bani israel goes to him and says ah

[54:55]your khilafa is taken this is authentic hadith noted by all schools

[54:59]of thought your khalafa has been taken now shouldn't imam ali not

[55:05]say to the when israel said yeah you're right you know zolam

[55:08]has been done let's unite and fight these guys right imam ali

[55:13]was my teacher who's my guardian of the city of knowledge allah

[55:17]says i am the city of knowledge the gates to the city

[55:25]is ali ibn abi talib those who want to come to my

[55:27]city come through this gate ask him what does he say he

[55:33]looks at him and says your forefathers when they were freed from

[55:38]firaun by musa and they crossed the sea the salt water had

[55:43]not dried from their feet and they were already worshiping an animal

[55:48]a calf as a god we muslims are united in tawheed our

[55:55]ka'aba is intact our messenger is intact our quran is intact our

[56:02]prayers are within prescription imam ali is talking to abani israel and

[56:08]saying we are united do not divide us this is the sunnah

[56:12]of ahlul bayt that today when we hear sunni shia dialogues going

[56:16]against each other you should say no i'm a shia of ali

[56:19]ibn abi talu who taught me that the ummah one ummah all

[56:24]of us are one muslimeen the believers are those who believe in

[56:36]god and his messenger and then they don't doubt and they do

[56:40]good with their wealth and their selves these are the truthful ones

[56:43]allah says this in the quran but we seem to have forgotten

[56:47]the quran and hence we are going astray and the enemy is

[56:50]coming and dividing us and causing fitna between us whereas the quran

[56:55]is saying christians jews you're all within this one parameter that you

[56:59]need to come and submit to the truth even wherever you are

[57:02]on the scale we must encourage each other to come closer to

[57:05]allah and that's the impetus on judgment day and allah is too

[57:08]merciful to be throwing people in hell when you and i are

[57:11]all have to work together and smile with each other hug with

[57:15]each other and look at each other with with dignity and with

[57:18]love and with generosity and to help programs and to donate money

[57:23]to institutions that are doing education and and lectures and places of

[57:27]worship help them make them stronger so that the enemies cannot attack

[57:31]us muhammad on this night of arabayn very sad events took place

[57:42]my brothers and sisters you find historically the umayyads had taken islam

[57:47]as i mentioned burnt burnt the very institutions even later on the

[57:52]enemies of islam came and used it against us until today they've

[57:55]hijacked mecca and medina until today they feed them with armaments we

[58:00]say in the patriot act we do not support terrorism we are

[58:03]we are supporting the biggest terrorist nation that's funding and bombing yemen

[58:07]left right and center and we are arming them to their teeth

[58:11]what happened to this patriot act what happened to us as americans

[58:14]to say we do not tolerate terrorist nations why are we such

[58:17]allies with these terrorist nations this double standard you and i as

[58:22]muslims should be wise to understand that we don't fall trapped into

[58:25]this double standard of foreign policy this is why imam hussain teaches

[58:29]us that rise and even if they come against you be firm

[58:33]don't be afraid of them only allah is the one who will

[58:36]question you in judgment day and don't be afraid of them imam

[58:40]zainul abideen in the palace of yazid gets up the pulpit he

[58:47]asks yazid do you allow me to climb up these pieces of

[58:50]wood a'wah the imam calls it do you allow me to climb

[58:53]up these pieces of wood oh yazid as you know yazid brings

[58:57]imam in chains zaynab in chains all of them standing there in

[59:02]chains humiliating them he was drunk taking a stick hitting the teeth

[59:06]of imam hussein on a platter he was hitting it he says

[59:09]oh if only my forefathers could see what i have done to

[59:13]avenge you see that vengeance that anger exactly like iblis can't let

[59:18]go within our community we sue each other we take each other

[59:21]to court brothers suing brothers that vengeance is the same essence what

[59:27]yazid was holding where i can't let go the prophet is kind

[59:31]he's generous he's he's giving imam is loving but they cannot let

[59:36]go of that anger destroy destroy destroy this is why it's so

[59:40]important to remember these events so as he's hitting historians say there

[59:45]was an ambassador from rome and he looked at them he says

[59:49]whose head is this he says that's the head of the grandson

[59:52]of the prophet he started to cry he goes and holds it

[59:56]and starts to kiss it he says oh yazid shame on you

[60:15]ambassadors from non muslim world realize how bad yazid was imam zainul

[60:43]generations of jafar al tayyar we have generations of the greatest prophets

[60:52]is chosen by allah to lead society not this refractory man who

[60:57]was a son of a freed slave by the laws of khilafa

[61:12]son of a freed slave how dare you do what you've done

[61:41]is an honorable man a representative of god you cannot compare these

[61:45]two so yazid sees this that the people of syria now are

[61:54]beginning to have a change of heart he says to the muadhin

[61:57]it wasn't prayer time he says to the muadhin recite aadhin recite

[62:01]aadhin because this man speaking on this pulpit is too eloquent and

[62:04]he's changing the minds of my people in the palace so the

[62:08]muadhan starts he says allahu akbar imam stops while speaking he says

[62:13]because now he wants to silence the imam when he comes to

[62:18]ashhadwana muhammad rasulullah imam says to the muadhan be quiet stop muadin

[62:26]stops imam looks at yazid and says this muhammad rasulullah this man

[62:32]just recited is he your grandfather or is he my grandfather and

[62:38]yazid couldn't answer i think the momentous moment in the revolution of

[62:43]imam hussain was at that stage where the imam turns to yazid

[62:47]and says is he your grandfather or is he my grandfather yazid

[62:52]couldn't answer imam replies that's my grandfather and you just recited that

[62:56]he is muhammad rasulullah you just told him to recite this then

[63:00]why did you kill us the people of syria suddenly woke up

[63:05]this was exactly what imam hussein wanted his revolution to be in

[63:09]the belly of the beast and it continues to grow until today

[63:13]so yazid as you know puts them in prison in prison brothers

[63:17]and sisters there's a quick story i want you to understand ashura
