[0:09]Alhamdulillah.
[0:27]Muhammad.
[0:36]Alhamdulillah.
[0:43]Alhamdulillah.
[0:51][Music] I'm Dear brothers and sisters, salamkum.
[1:40]>> We I I apologize.
[1:43]First of all, I know a lot of you did wait.
[1:46]Uh I I'm I completely apologize.
[1:47]The traffic was uh quite difficult.
[1:49]But uh with our time we have today inshallah let's uh look
[1:52]together towards uh our per our path to perfection our path to
[1:59]reaching Allah subhana wa ta'ala and aligning ourselves with the divine.
[2:03]And tonight one of our discussions that we want to look at
[2:07]is how grateful are we to Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[2:09]Only with true gratefulness can we connect with Allah subhana wa tala
[2:13]and get even more blessings from him.
[2:18]We understand that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has blessed us.
[2:21]Many of us can of course say that Allah blessed me with
[2:25]we can list off things that we can be blessed with.
[2:26]And Allah subhana wa ta says inah verse 20.
[2:29]Have you not seen that Allah has subjected for you whatever is
[2:33]in the heavens and whatever for you is in the earth and
[2:38]has lavished his favors upon you both seen and unseen.
[2:40]Sometimes there are certain favors that you don't see.
[2:45]Allah subhana wa ta'ala is telling us, have you not found these
[2:48]heavens and earth as Allah's prepared for you?
[2:51]All that he's given to you either certain blessings that you can
[2:55]see or certain blessings that maybe you aren't able to see.
[3:00]And then he continues, "Still there are some who dispute about Allah
[3:05]without knowledge or guidance or in enlightening scripture that after receiving all
[3:11]of these blessings, all of the blessings that I have, there are
[3:14]still people who will deny the existence of Allah subhana wa ta'ala."
[3:17]Allah says, "So we don't need to be taught what gratefulness is
[3:24]every single day or maybe at mas or so." You're taught be
[3:26]grateful for what Allah gave you.
[3:27]We want to look at gratefulness a bit deeper.
[3:31]Truly understand what that value of that gratefulness is.
[3:34]Allah subhana wa ta'ala in almost 70 ayat he addresses this in
[3:38]different types of ways.
[3:42]He emphasizes the importance of being grateful and he and he talks
[3:45]about those who are ungrateful in a negative connotation in a in
[3:49]a negative way.
[3:51]So it's important for us to understand our blessings that Allah subhana
[3:54]wa ta has given us the blessings that he surrounds us that
[3:57]we're dependent on that we need those blessings right it's uh for
[4:04]example such as an example of a fish that we use a
[4:06]fish doesn't know the blessings of that water that he exists in
[4:13]until what until we have that fish for example that's taken by
[4:16]a fisherman and he's out of that water the moment it's trying
[4:21]to survive.
[4:20]It realizes what a blessing that water itself is.
[4:25]So in that same manner, many of us we have certain blessings
[4:29]that we're not aware about.
[4:32]We can't possibly understand how blessed we are.
[4:34]Allah subhana wa ta'ala says in another surah, "And he's granted you
[4:44]everything that you have asked him.
[4:50]We say this in our dua you often times in the suffra
[4:53]for example when you finish eating food you make a dua and
[4:58]in this dua you say and if you try to count the
[5:00]amount of amount of blessings that Allah subhana wa ta'ala has given
[5:06]you you find you're unable to count it it's impossible to count
[5:08]the amount of blessings that Allah subhana wa ta'ala gives truly in
[5:15]mankind is truly totally unfair and he's totally kaf he's totally ungrateful
[5:20]in that manner.
[5:22]This shows us that we have so many blessings and many times
[5:26]we feel that we don't understand it those blessings.
[5:29]Let me give one example.
[5:32]We have the blessing of a good health.
[5:34]You see alhamdulillah of the blessing of good health.
[5:39]Within that good health there are hundred and thousands blessings.
[5:44]There are hundreds and thousands of different things in your body that
[5:47]are working together to give you that one blessing of good health.
[5:51]Don't you agree?
[5:53]For example, your heart's working.
[5:55]It's working in the correct manner.
[5:57]Your limbs are exactly as the way they are.
[5:58]The organs are working in their own specific system, right?
[6:03]Your nervous system, your digestive system or so.
[6:04]They're all working in harmony.
[6:08]Your DNA is in a particular shape for you to be happy
[6:10]and healthy.
[6:12]So in this manner our proteins in our body they work in
[6:16]such a particular way.
[6:16]The fats they get burned in a certain in a particular way.
[6:22]These are all five different blessings that exist in a larger amount
[6:26]of blessing that we count on when we talk about the of
[6:29]Allah.
[6:30]And we see here in uh certain in certain ways we find
[6:37]ourselves saying alhamdulillah and that's one of the main ways that we
[6:39]can thank Allah for these blessings right we say all praise to
[6:42]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala >> so we have certain blessings that Allah
[6:57]subhana wa ta'ala gives But what does Allah subhana wa ta'ala say
[7:03]in other verses?
[7:05]He says, "He who believes in Allah subhana wa ta'ala, he he
[7:12]finds him away, an exit, in other verses of the Quran in
[7:21]surah 65.
[7:22]There are some blessings that you're always going to be blessed with
[7:27]because of the fact that you're human.
[7:28]You get a lot of blessings from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[7:31]But there are certain blessings that Allah gives to those who are
[7:35]grateful towards him.
[7:38]Those who are special followers of him.
[7:41]Those who spiritually actively try to connect to Allah.
[7:43]Allah gives those people special.
[7:49]And he who believes in Allah, he who is conscious about Allah,
[7:53]Allah gives him a exit or a he gives him a way
[7:58]for him to for example be able to find a way.
[8:03]So many people will ask how is it that Allah is doing
[8:05]so?
[8:06]Isn't he discriminating towards certain people?
[8:10]He's giving certain that isn't to everyone else.
[8:17]And the answer is this.
[8:18]Many people they don't accept the of Allah.
[8:22]Sometimes it's us that's the mirror.
[8:25]If we're not mirroring Allah subhana wa ta'ala in the same manner,
[8:29]we don't get that.
[8:30]Allah subhana wa ta'ala reigns you with blessings.
[8:33]It depends on how much you care about that blessing.
[8:37]If you're able, how big is your cup to take that blessing?
[8:40]It's upon ourselves those we have to learn to be more God
[8:46]conscious for those blessings to be able to come to us when
[8:49]we look at for example our or the holy prophets or the
[8:55]of Allah the true friends of Allah subhana wa tala our scholars
[8:58]or so they're able to there's a very famous saying what for
[9:03]example uh drips in you overflows in them the the benefits of
[9:12]Allah, the baraka of Allah, the connection to Allah which is so
[9:15]little in you, it floods them.
[9:20]We have to try to seek actively seek our level of God
[9:23]consciousness in this manner.
[9:24]When we for example talk about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, it's it's
[9:30]in this manner.
[9:29]Let's say I take this water bottle and there's a hill and
[9:36]I decide to uh spill it onto that hill.
[9:39]Which path is it going to take?
[9:41]The path of least resistance.
[9:41]The path that is a desire as resistance.
[9:45]It allows it to go down there.
[9:46]So as a result of the path of least resistance, it's that
[9:52]that doesn't resist it.
[9:52]And we should look at it in the same manner.
[9:55]When we talk about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, we should try to
[9:59]open our hearts to him in that manner in our active goal
[10:03]to seek knowledge.
[10:02]In our active goal to seek perfection, in our active goal to
[10:07]align ourselves with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, we find ourselves receiving more.
[10:11]We find ourselves re receiving more of a connection to Allah subhana
[10:17]wa ta'ala, a higher connection to the divine.
[10:20]And in that moment, we are connected to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[10:26]spiritual rhythm.
[10:25]It said that Allah subhana wa ta gives his wah to different
[10:31]things.
[10:32]It's not just humans.
[10:33]gives it to a different type of to animals to certain plants.
[10:38]They all move in the rhythm as they say they all move
[10:44]in the rhythm of Allah.
[10:44]They're actively worshiping Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala through their actions.
[10:49]And when we're disconnected from it, we don't truly feel whole.
[10:54]We don't truly receive those blessings of Allah.
[10:55]And if we make ourselves align with it, only then do we
[11:01]feel a true connection.
[11:01]So inshallah, if you also want to be along those lines and
[11:07]you want to actively seek perfection, to come closer.
[11:17]>> Come closer towards please as far forward as possible.
[11:30]There's people waiting in the back please.
[11:30]Thank you so much.
[11:31]>> So we should actively seek knowledge.
[11:34]We should actively try to connect ourselves with Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[11:39]That when I try to be more connected to him, I have
[11:41]to seek a higher level of consciousness.
[11:45]Not one that's material but one that's immaterial.
[11:48]When for example I'm with Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[11:53]What do they say?
[11:54]They say that some people they might ask uh there was once
[11:59]a he said a certain phrase that I found really interesting.
[12:03]He's asked by someone how can I pray to Allah better?
[12:09]How can I be more focused in prayer?
[12:12]He says what?
[12:14]He says what you just said was an oxymoron.
[12:15]It's two statement.
[12:17]It's a statement that doesn't make sense because why?
[12:19]When you talked about how you can pray closer to Allah, how
[12:24]you can pray better to Allah, use which word?
[12:26]I.
[12:27]He said when you pray to Allah subhana wa ta'ala, there's no
[12:31]I in prayer.
[12:33]When you recite that and get into that prayer, there's no longer
[12:37]a you.
[12:39]There's only Allah.
[12:38]You don't know yourself in that moment.
[12:41]It's that level of that we seek to find.
[12:45]It's that level that we have to actively try to search towards.
[12:51]And unfortunately, my time is short.
[12:52]I had a few more other things written.
[12:54]And I really apologize.
[12:55]Inshallah, you guys forgive me for the lack of time.
[13:01]But I wanted to end off on this point that I there
[13:03]was a battle in which he had an arrow that struck his
[13:07]leg.
[13:08]And every single time that they tried to take that arrow out
[13:10]of his leg, they were not able to.
[13:12]He said, "I'm in pain.
[13:15]Stop." The doctors couldn't do anything.
[13:17]So the prophet, he was asked and what did he say?
[13:19]Just wait for Imam to get into prayer because when he's in
[13:25]prayer, he's not Ali.
[13:26]He's connected with the divine in that moment.
[13:29]So they waited for him to pray salah.
[13:31]And in that moment when he prayed salah they were able to
[13:36]just pull that arrow out without any resistance from that's the level
[13:41]now Ali is up theream and I'm here we can actively try
[13:48]to reach that level and it's not about for example looking at
[13:50]everything in in a in an eye in a view as an
[13:54]eye when we try to reach a spiritual perfection it's only Allah
[13:58]subhana wa ta'ala it's that taqua of Allah that connection to Allah
[14:02]subhana wa ta'ala and only then do we really feel a connection
[14:08]to him only then are we able to connect with him so
[14:11]how can we be grateful for these benefits for these certain types
[14:17]of that we get certain types of that we get use those
[14:20]in the way that Allah wants use those to connect to him
[14:27]right that's the only true way that we can be grateful to
[14:30]Allah subhana wa ta'ala If we I use this na this health
[14:35]I have the fact that I'm able to walk the fact that
[14:36]I'm able to speak Allah has given me so many blessings and
[14:41]I actively use it to disobey Allah then I completely fall and
[14:46]I don't receive those blessings in the same way.
[14:47]I don't feel connected.
[14:50]The most important way that we can be grateful to Allah subhanana
[14:55]wa ta'ala is to actively try to use it for his sake.
[14:58]Imam says in in one of his being grateful for God's blessing
[15:06]is to not commit divinely forbidden acts saying that that if we
[15:11]want to be truly grateful to Allah subhanana wa ta'ala that we
[15:15]should always act in the way that Allah wants us we have
[15:19]to thank him of course verbally every single moment when you think
[15:24]about your blessings say alhamdulillah everyone right now think about the blessings
[15:27]that you And let's actively say it.
[15:29]Alhamdulillah.
[15:30]Let's try again.
[15:32]Alhamdulillah.
[15:34]Exactly.
[15:34]Allah subhana wa ta'ala says what?
[15:37]To praise him in that manner.
[15:38]Sometimes when you think of something do use your like we said
[15:45]to try to gain knowledge.
[15:46]Try to use your abilities that Allah has given you in a
[15:52]way that connects to him and always feel that you connect to
[15:54]Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[15:56]That Allah is always there.
[15:57]I'll end off here.
[15:59]He says what?
[16:01]One who wholeheartedly realizes a god-given blessing has expressed due thanks.
[16:05]Reflect on that blessing.
[16:08]So three ways use it you for a way for us to
[16:12]be really thankful.
[16:12]First of all, we do alhamdulillah and we do s correct.
[16:19]We actively thank Allah.
[16:20]We praise him.
[16:23]The second is to use that ability in a correct manner.
[16:25]to use that ability in a way that you're able to fulfill
[16:30]what Allah subhana wa ta'ala wants from you.
[16:33]And the third is to reflect on it.
[16:35]When we reflect on our blessings, it helps us to connect with
[16:38]Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[16:42]And only then are we truly grateful.
[16:53]And with that time left, I want to recite the ma of
[16:59]tonight.
[17:00]And tonight's ma is none other than the flag bearer of Abdah
[17:03]Hussein's army.
[17:06]Abbas Abu F Abbas.
[17:08]Abbas.
[17:09]Who was Abbas?
[17:12]Abbas the captain.
[17:12]Abbas the commander.
[17:15]Abbas the brave and strong warrior.
[17:17]Abbas the alandar.
[17:20]Abbas the faithful brother.
[17:21]Abbas the guardian of Kulum and baby Zab.
[17:25]Abbas Sakina's dearest uncle.
[17:25]Abbas the son of Omul Banin.
[17:27]And Abbas the lion son of Imam Ali Alisam.
[17:30]Abbas was like his father Ali.
[17:33]He was just like him.
[17:35]He had all the qualities of his great father.
[17:39]He was brave.
[17:38]He was strong.
[17:40]He was wise, loving, obedient.
[17:42]And he was faithful.
[17:42]And on Immiam's deathbed, his dying wish, he gave Abbas's hand to
[17:49]Im Hussein and he put it on top of each other and
[17:50]he said, "My son Abbas, Hussein is the son of Batam." But
[17:56]Abbas, you are my son.
[17:59]Abbas, Hussein is your master and you are Hussein's slave.
[18:02]Yah Abbas, take care of Hussein.
[18:03]And since then, Abbas had fulfilled Hussein's every wish just like a
[18:08]slave.
[18:09]He Abbas treated him as if he was a master.
[18:13]He always treated and with great respect.
[18:17]He followed Hussein just like a shadow.
[18:20]Abbas was with Hussein in Kbal.
[18:21]Hussein knew Abbas was like their father Ali.
[18:24]He was a brave and strong warrior.
[18:26]He would tell Abbas, "My brother Abbas, keep your sword in its
[18:30]place.
[18:30]Don't take your sword out to fight.
[18:32]You've come to save Islam." Yeah, Abbas, we've come to treat teach
[18:38]Islam.
[18:37]And we will teach Islam not with our swords but with our
[18:42]character.
[18:43]So have patience Abbas.
[18:43]Have And when Yazid's men they pulled out Hussein's tents from the
[18:47]river bank, Abbas he was very angry.
[18:49]So he pulled out his sword and he wanted in that moment
[18:54]to fight.
[18:55]And Hussein said what?
[18:55]No Abbas be patient.
[18:59]We've not come here to fight.
[19:01]Y Abbas.
[19:02]So imagine someone like Abbas Abu F someone who has great character.
[19:06]He's ready to fight in that very moment.
[19:08]He has to have patience.
[19:09]Even if he's treated like this, he had to have great patience.
[19:14]And it was in that manner that we come to the day
[19:19]of arrives and ali gives his last.
[19:21]And everyone in Hussein's camp, they pray and the battle begins one
[19:28]by one.
[19:29]And Hussein's companions, they went to the field and they were martyed.
[19:33]Every time that a body would be brought brought back to the
[19:36]tent, Abbas went to Hussein and said, "My master." He would never
[19:39]call him his brother.
[19:41]He would say, "My master, master." What would he say?
[19:45]He would say to Hussein.
[19:46]Whenever a body came, he would say, "Master." Now allow me to
[19:52]go to the battlefield.
[19:52]Enough.
[19:52]Let me go and fight these beastly men.
[19:56]Yo, oh master.
[19:58]And every time I Hussein, he calmed Abbas down.
[20:00]You say, "No, Abbas, how can I let you go?
[20:03]You are Alam.
[20:04]You are the one that holds the flag.
[20:06]You're the captain of my army.
[20:08]You are my right-hand man.
[20:08]You are my support.
[20:11]Where would I be without you?" Yeah.
[20:12]Abbas.
[20:13]So Abbas's three brothers, they go to the battlefield and they become
[20:18]Shahid.
[20:19]And Muhammad, they go to the battle and they become Shahid.
[20:21]Has goes and his body is trampled into torn into pieces.
[20:28]And Abbas in this moment he's very restless.
[20:29]In that moment, he says he wants to begin fighting.
[20:33]He's he's becomes he can't take it any longer.
[20:36]So he goes and he asks for permission from Im Hussein.
[20:39]He walks to Zan's tent and then he turns back.
[20:43]He knew that and Zam would not allow him.
[20:48]So he goes to Hussein's tent and he tried in several times
[20:51]and back again.
[20:53]He can't persuade Hussein to go.
[20:55]So Abbas then he's very restless.
[20:57]He wants permission to fight.
[20:58]And then he sees little he says with her mash.
[21:04]She comes to Abbas and she says, "Uncle Abas, look at my
[21:10]mash.
[21:11]It's very dry.
[21:13]My uncle Sakina is very thirsty.
[21:18]My uncle Abas Abbas thought of a way to get permission from
[21:22]Hussein." In that moment, he took little Sakina to the Hussein's tent
[21:29]and he sat in front of Hussein with Sak on his lap.
[21:31]He didn't have to say anything in that moment.
[21:35]Hussein looked at Abbas and then he looked at Sakina and then
[21:40]at Hussein understood what Abbas's expression was.
[21:42]What did he say?
[21:46]Abbas, how can I say no?
[21:47]Now you brought Sakina with you.
[21:48]So go Abbas, go and fill her her her mesh with water.
[21:54]One request Abbas, if you go, do not take your sword with
[21:57]you.
[21:57]You're not there to fight.
[21:58]You're only there to bring water.
[22:01]So remember Abbas, you're not going to fight.
[22:02]So Abbas gives him his sword.
[22:06]He kisses Sakina and he puts her down and he says, "Skina,
[22:08]pray for me.
[22:10]Pray that I get water to you." And then Abbas goes to
[22:12]Zena.
[22:13]He says, "Yeah, Zanab, give me permission to go to the battlefield."
[22:16]And Abbas, she says, "Brother Abbas, I want to hear that my
[22:22]hijab, I used to hear that my hijab would be looted Abbas."
[22:25]And what would I say?
[22:29]How dare anyone snatch this hijab when I have 18 brothers that
[22:32]will protect me.
[22:34]Now, Abbas that you're going now, I truly fear that my hijab
[22:39]will now be snatched.
[22:40]Abbaz then goes to the battlefield.
[22:44]In one hand he carries the of Hussein's army and he in
[22:47]the other he holds a spear and Sak has mashed.
[22:50]He has no sword to fight but he uses the spear to
[22:52]for protection.
[22:54]Abbas heads to the river of the and Yazid's army.
[22:59]They see Abbas coming.
[23:00]They had seen Abbas fight and he was just like his father
[23:05]Ali and they were scared.
[23:05]The few who dare to attack Abbas, they were killed by his
[23:10]fear.
[23:09]atas.
[23:09]Then he fights and he reaches the tent and he fills mesh.
[23:14]Then he asks his faithful horse to drink water.
[23:18]The horse looks towards Im Hussein's camp and it seemed to say
[23:20]in a manner, "Master, are you sure that the water will reach
[23:23]Sakina?" "Master, how can I drink when and are thirsty?
[23:29]Let's give them water and then I will drink some." So Abbas
[23:32]with his am in one hand and his spear and Sakina's mesh
[23:37]in the other he starts to ride back.
[23:40]Abbas comes back to the tent with the water filled Omar.
[23:45]He tells them don't stop.
[23:46]Stop Abbas.
[23:47]If you allow him he's going to let Imam Hussein drink from
[23:50]that water and he will be able to fight us.
[23:54]So they fired arrows into many directions.
[23:57]And Abbas he was hit by many arrows as he was trying
[24:00]to come back.
[24:02]He was bleeding in that moment.
[24:03]So just then a soldier they come from behind and he struck
[24:11]his sword on the shoulder of Al Abbas.
[24:13]Abbas grips his mesh in that moment with his teeth and his
[24:16]arm and spear.
[24:17]They fall to that ground in that moment.
[24:20]Another soldier then he comes on back to Abbas and he strikes
[24:23]his other shoulder and the falls his other arm falls to the
[24:30]ground.
[24:31]So Abbas with no arms in this moment he has the mesh
[24:33]of Sakina in his ar in his between his teeth and he
[24:37]he wants to reach Sakina.
[24:38]This is what gives him strength to go on.
[24:41]He says water has to reach Sakina.
[24:43]So Saka's mesh is filled and an arrow in that moment it
[24:49]is shot and it hits the mesh of Sak and water begins
[24:52]to pour out and in this moment he's lost strength.
[24:56]All this water he it gets out of this mesh and he
[25:01]falls off his force and he cries in this moment.
[25:02]Master come to me.
[25:05]Yeah ma let me see you for one last time.
[25:09]And Hussein he hears him.
[25:12]He feels his heartbreak in this moment and with his hands on
[25:16]his back he cries out my son Ali Akbar my back is
[25:24]broken.
[25:21]My support is gone.
[25:24]My is gone.
[25:27]and Hussein and Ali Akbar they rush to the battlefield and Hussein
[25:30]sees his brother lying on the ground.
[25:33]How can I Hussein feel in this moment?
[25:36]He sees his brother lying on the ground.
[25:38]One of his eyes have been hit by arrows.
[25:40]He's been both of his arms have been cut off and he's
[25:42]covered with blood on the ground.
[25:46]He places Abbas on his lap.
[25:48]He says, "My brother Abbas, you're leaving me too.
[25:50]Abbas, what will I do without you?
[25:56]My support.
[25:54]Abbas I am finished without you my Abbas brother what what can
[26:00]I do and is there anything I can do in this moment
[26:04]and Abbas in this moment he says yes master when I came
[26:09]to this world I saw your face first and now as I
[26:15]go away from this world my master I would like to see
[26:18]your face for one last time why can't you see me oh
[26:23]my master my eyes are covered with blood.
[26:27]So, Imm Hussein, he cleans his eyes and Abbas gazes his at
[26:31]Hussein.
[26:32]He says, "Abbas, I have one wish for you for one last
[26:35]time." And this is the part that breaks our hearts.
[26:40]Hussein says, "What?" Yahb, every single time that you've seen me, you've
[26:46]called me your m your master.
[26:51]But yeah abbas I ask you tonight today on this field of
[26:55]carabella I would ask you to just once call me your brother
[27:00]said what I ask you do not take me back to the
[27:06]tent so I am ashamed of myself I don't want to see
[27:13]to see me without the water I don't want to see me
[27:21]like this.
[27:22]I don't want them to cry after they see my body.
[27:25]He takes his last breath and he dies on the lap of
[27:29]Im Hussein.
[27:31]What does Hussein do in this moment?
[27:33]What should he do now?
[27:33]Hussein picks up the and he ties Sak's mesh to it and
[27:39]Sakina she sees the of Al Abbas first and she shouts, "Children,
[27:43]come my children." Abby uncle Abbas has entered and he's brought the
[27:51]mash.
[27:52]Let's drink some water.
[27:53]I can see his so he's come back and Hussein he doesn't
[27:57]know what to say to the children in that time when he
[28:02]reaches the tent and he has no one to help him.
