Giving a helping hand - Cities of Light

In April 2012 a group of us were privileged to visit villages on the outskirts of Karbala , Iraq where residents live in the direst of conditions. Sanitation, living environment, little or no access to electricity or healthcare were just some of the conditions we witnessed the very young as well as elderly coping with on a daily basis. The most captivating part of that day was seeing the broadest of smiles on the children's faces when welcoming visitors to their villages. They warmed and reciprocated our affection and playful moments.

Later this month, we shall be revisiting these families in Iraq and while we'll be delivering food parcels to meet their basic needs, we would like to take gifts for these children comprising stationary, small toys, warm hats / gloves, sweets / candy. No matter the type of adverse conditions these children face -- all children deserve gifts brought to them with love.

It would be amazing if we could all contribute even a little amount to materialise this gift initiative into a reality, so that we can all share in the blessing to bring a spontaneous heart-warming smile to an orphan child.
