[0:24]foreign foreign [Music] dear brothers sisters and respected scholars one of the

[1:08]important aspects that we tend to forget in islam is this concept

[1:17]that allah he has a certain love for us and i've been

[1:23]speaking through these past few nights about trying to reconnect with allah

[1:29]or trying to re-establish that connection with allah and we've gone through

[1:32]different steps and one of the most important aspects when i was

[1:36]told that i should that they invited me over here to this

[1:39]jamia i wanted to discuss about what's finding this love in allah

[1:47]truly when we find within our own circles or within our own

[1:51]jammer we have this portrayal of this god that we have this

[1:53]allah as this fiery person as a fiery entity that will not

[2:00]think twice before sending us straight to hell is it truly this

[2:06]kind of god that we have this person who in the quran

[2:08]he's explained so many times as a rahman and ar-raheem is it

[2:13]correct for us to portray him as so as such a person

[2:16]truly we understand that we have this misunderstanding in this god that

[2:22]we have and tonight i want to look into this topic and

[2:25]try to understand god better who is this god that we pray

[2:29]all the time that we are this we do all of this

[2:31]for is this god someone who is outside of our lives for

[2:36]70 80 years and then as soon as we're done where we've

[2:41]passed this world he's like an accountant okay you've done this much

[2:44]good you've done this much bad you go to heaven or you

[2:46]go to hell truly this god that we have we understand him

[2:49]in this such way we haven't really enjoyed from the love of

[2:53]allah the way that we should and that's a major issue on

[2:59]our part and in the way that we portray allah and one

[3:02]of the chefs that i was listening to recently he says that

[3:06]no one else has a worse pr than god god is a

[3:09]person with the worst pr you know the way that we understand

[3:11]god or allah is very wrong when we look at our other

[3:16]centers and something that i like a lot from these other groups

[3:20]of faith are their view on a loving god right when we

[3:24]find when we drive down the highway or so or we drive

[3:28]down the roads we see different signs from churches jesus loves you

[3:32]god loves you you know they show this kind of image of

[3:35]god in a very loving manner so is our god any different

[3:41]from theirs no we know allah he's a very merciful person he's

[3:45]merciful and he's beneficent what do we mean by this we say

[3:50]we say he's entirely merciful he loves all of his creation but

[3:55]when we say rahim he loves those very few that he's very

[4:02]close to because of our imams and he has this beautiful dua

[4:08]which is dua and in this he explains though about the connection

[4:10]that he has with allah and allah he explains that allah loves

[4:17]you even before you are born he has this certain love for

[4:24]you and even after you're born through the different ways such as

[4:28]your mother your father or those that are close allah shows his

[4:32]love to you he shows they love you to you all the

[4:35]way until you get to that stage of becoming bader so allah

[4:40]he has so much of this love for you and he wants

[4:44]to establish this connection with you to have a closer connection this

[4:46]is what we want to talk about to be able to understand

[4:50]that connection and feel stronger towards allah after you reach that certain

[4:56]stage allah comes to you and he says okay before before we

[5:01]had this established or this love that we i was sending to

[5:04]you through other means through your parents or so now let's establish

[5:06]our own connection with each other and this is a point where

[5:10]we want to try to make sure that we establish that connection

[5:12]where we understand allah and we love him because truly all of

[5:21]us every single being on this earth every single human desires love

[5:26]and affection we want to be felt like we're loved we want

[5:28]to be treated well and you see many times when people go

[5:33]wrong the problem is that they don't have any love in their

[5:36]life and this is a major issue because so many people do

[5:40]not understand this concept of allah this love that they have and

[5:44]we as muslims we as shia we truly have this allah in

[5:48]front of us and if we're not loving him and we're not

[5:50]understanding him and this is the greatest waste for us for us

[5:55]not to be able to understand him and and he says love

[6:01]of allah is a fire which does not pass by anything without

[6:05]burning it up the light of allah does not come over something

[6:08]without illuminating it he's very very elegant in the way that he

[6:15]describes god and when we look at the look at the way

[6:20]that we can understand how we can fall in love with allah

[6:26]as well for ourselves for we have many hadees in our own

[6:31]books that says when you take one step close to allah when

[6:34]you take one step closer to god he takes 10 steps closer

[6:39]to you so how can this person this be this entity be

[6:42]so fiery that he would without judging send us straight to hell

[6:45]you know one thing that i listened to recently which made me

[6:49]very surprised was i was listening to this chef he was saying

[6:55]that imagine when you go after you pass away your mother is

[6:57]the person who is judging if you go to heaven or hell

[7:00]you know would you say that this your mother would send you

[7:04]having our help yeah for sure my mother would send me to

[7:06]heaven what are you talking about you know my mother she knows

[7:09]me she loves me so much she cares about me and if

[7:13]i made a mistake or i slept she'd definitely forgive me because

[7:18]she'd understand where i'd come where i'm coming from so you're telling

[7:23]me that it's if your mother was judging you if you go

[7:26]to heaven or hell she said definitely send you to heaven but

[7:29]this fiery lord that you have is going to banish you to

[7:32]hell you see this this the way that we view allah is

[7:38]wrong and this is the issue and this is portrayed in the

[7:40]way that we act in our ibadah if we see that we

[7:48]view allah when we for example are praying namaz right we pray

[7:54]five times a day do we pray this because we love allah

[7:57]and it's within the love of our own hearts this connection that

[8:01]we want to respond or talk to the person that who is

[8:04]the creator of ours no we find many times that salah is

[8:09]a burden for us that it's something that's very difficult for us

[8:14]right oh i have to wake up for fajr prayer i'm so

[8:15]tired i'd rather i'd rather sleep through this or you know when

[8:21]it's of time when you're at work oh i have to get

[8:23]off work i have to go pray and we can see this

[8:28]when our prayers become qatar many times we've not understand allah or

[8:33]the way that we have and many of us we do our

[8:37]actions because of the fact that we're afraid of hellfire right or

[8:41]we do these actions because i want to go to heaven and

[8:46]this is very interesting if someone does something or so because they're

[8:50]in because of the fact that they want to go to heaven

[8:55]this is okay they can get the salah from that but they're

[8:58]not truly enjoying from the love of allah in the way that

[9:03]they can for example if they were to pray for that love

[9:06]of allah because they want to establish that connection so this is

[9:10]an important aspect and it's very important listen to what he says

[9:16]our heart is a sanctuary of allah we all have a haram

[9:20]within our hearts can i get loud our hearts is a haram

[9:42]of allah you know haram the sanctuary this very divine place this

[9:47]is meant for allah we all have it within our hearts so

[9:54]do not place anything in this haram of allah instead of allah

[10:00]do not put anything within this haram except for the way that

[10:06]the quran the way that we find the hadees of allah we

[10:10]see something so beautiful and something so sweet within our lord so

[10:15]it's our own fault that we don't really understand this and we

[10:19]need to make sure that we can truly love allah in the

[10:22]way that we need to and there is no one that is

[10:27]more loved to allah than rasulallah habib this is someone who is

[10:44]called beloved of allah the beloved of allah so we find that

[10:48]rasulullah is so loved and when he's so loved allah for example

[10:55]he makes certain actions that are mustahab right for example listen to

[11:02]this important point for rasulallah was not muslim it was it for

[11:09]him so now one must think oh for rasulallah he has so

[11:13]much more obligations he has so much more duties i'd never want

[11:16]to be a prophet this is the viewpoint that we have and

[11:19]listen to this important point that is are the way that we

[11:24]view allah and the way that we view about that that's oh

[11:26]for him it had to become wajib rasulullah he jumped at these

[11:32]moments that he can praise a lot of light look at the

[11:35]people that praise allah i want you to listen to this when

[11:39]you see the people that pray salah to layla why do they

[11:41]pray right this is not something that's larger for them this is

[11:45]something that's completely mustahab do they do it for the rewards oh

[11:48]because i'm going to get this much salah i'm going to pray

[11:50]salat no when you find most of these people that pray these

[11:54]soul these rakats in the middle of the night or they wake

[11:57]up one hour before fajr they do it because they've fallen in

[11:59]love with allah they've fallen in love with their creator and to

[12:05]have that connection to have this prayer this is something else that

[12:09]we want to look at to understand to try to establish that

[12:14]connection and from this we can see that when we discussed before

[12:19]about the different types of worship and how we worship i want

[12:23]to show this specific hadith to explain this further he said there

[12:29]are three kinds of worship there are three people who worship allah

[12:33]the most majestic the most holy the first person who worships allah

[12:39]he worships through fear he's afraid of allah he's afraid of jahannam

[12:44]he is afraid of the fire so he does worship of allah

[12:49]what does allah say about him he says this kind of worship

[12:54]is the worship of slaves this is someone who is for example

[12:58]a slave he has an owner and he's afraid of his owner

[13:00]so he does his actions so what does he talk about the

[13:04]second group he says the second group here there are people who

[13:09]worship allah for his reward so for these people what are the

[13:16]what does allah call them he says that this is the worship

[13:18]for people for hire you know these people are merchants i do

[13:22]this worship i get this a lot it's a transaction for them

[13:27]right we're not saying that this is haram or this is wrong

[13:29]or they don't get to sell up they do they definitely get

[13:32]that sale from that action but for example they're not enjoying it

[13:37]as much as they should and now listen to this third point

[13:41]and this very important group and we want to be part of

[13:43]this group he says there are people who worship allah the most

[13:47]majestic the most holy for his love this is the worship of

[13:53]the free people and this is the best kind of worship this

[13:55]is what we want to be we want to be part of

[13:58]these this group the ones who have fallen in love with allah

[14:03]and this is a very difficult journey this doesn't take just one

[14:05]lecture that you listen to you listen to nights and you're completely

[14:09]transformed and you build that connection this is a slow process and

[14:13]we need to try to begin that process beginning tonight let this

[14:18]be a fire that starts within you for you to understand that

[14:21]i want to build this connection with allah that i want to

[14:26]fall in love with allah and we have this verse that i

[14:32]began with what does allah tells us and seek help through patience

[14:45]and prayer indeed it is a burden except for those who are

[14:53]humble so this and the salah to pray and then to have

[14:56]this patience for many it's a burden they feel that okay i

[15:02]have to have sabbah or i have to praise salah except those

[15:06]who have been humbled those who have fallen in love with allah

[15:10]this is not a burden for them this is something in which

[15:12]they can build a connection with allah and this is the way

[15:16]that we want to try to build ourselves and connect with allah

[15:18]and i want to take this to end off here i don't

[15:22]want to be too long but i want to end off with

[15:25]this very important notes tonight is that tomorrow it is the 72

[15:33]companions of abba abdullah go on to the battlefield and they get

[15:37]martyred in the way now i want you to understand this important

[15:40]point i'm not here to recount the tale just for the sake

[15:44]of recounting it but look at it through this view of tonight's

[15:47]lecture through the love of allah these people that they have gone

[15:53]and they have been martyred or they fought it's for the sake

[15:56]of allah for the sake of the bait to protect the bait

[16:00]that they go out to the battlefield and this is so much

[16:04]more different than them fighting for their own desires and we end

[16:07]off here on the speech of isaiah abdullah he says to his

[16:13]companions tomorrow is the day where we encounter our enemies i deem

[16:16]appropriate that you should all freely leave me i have exempted you

[16:19]from your obligations towards me here is the night which has drawn

[16:24]its veil on you so take it as a mountain leaf he

[16:29]says to his loyal companions he says to his family they have

[16:33]an issue with me and it is me that they want to

[16:37]kill tomorrow it is me that they want to be that they

[16:38]want to be a shahid not you you're free of this so

[16:42]we're going to turn off the lights if you need to leave

[16:47]you can leave and here's an important point do you know how

[16:50]many people left on that night when they turned off the candles

[16:55]where they turned off the flames none of these people they all

[16:59]stayed because why there were so many people there were thousands and

[17:02]thousands who wrote letters in kufa but in the end it was

[17:06]the 72 people which were the loyal companions of abba abdullah al

[17:11]hussein those who had fallen in love with allah those who have

[17:14]fallen in love with the message of and this is the message

[17:18]that they hear when abbas abner says why should we do that

[17:23]in order for us to remain alive after you may allah never

[17:26]show us that day and the brothers of hussain and his sons

[17:30]and the sons of his brothers they follow and they speak in

[17:34]the same way and then we go to the companions and listen

[17:38]to this this is very interesting we have other per this we

[17:45]have another follower ibn abdullah what does he say he says listen

[17:50]to this very important response by allah we will not leave you

[17:55]until allah knows that we have preserved through you the company of

[17:58]the prophets of allah and his absence by allah if i knew

[18:02]that i would be killed and then be then be revived and

[18:04]then be burnt alive and scattered and this would be done to

[18:08]me 70 times 70 times this happened to me i would still

[18:13]not leave you until my death fighting on your behalf why should

[18:17]i not do so when it is only a matter of getting

[18:20]killed once this is an everlasting honor do you see the difference

[18:25]that these people these loyal companions of abdullah these were the lovers

[18:33]of allah and this i want to end off here on this

[18:34]notes and for you to keep this within your hearts to make

[18:38]sure that you can try to establish that connection and try to

[18:41]understand allah better and let this be the beginning of that connection

[18:47]with allah and let you understand and fall in love so when

[18:50]you do your actions it is so much more sweeter it is

[18:53]not for the sake of self-interest but rather for the sake of

[18:56]allah and through this inshallah we can be even closer to allah

[19:00]and even be closer to the imam is among when he comes
