[2:33]you examine the legacy of Amir al-mumineen alehissalaam you stand before an
[2:37]infinite ocean of accomplishments and achievements an infinite ocean of lessons in
[2:46]every step that he took imam ali IBN ABI talib ali saddam
[2:54]provides for us beautiful lessons how to worship the Almighty God how
[2:58]to uphold justice how to seek the path of knowledge and scholarship
[3:01]how to deal with others in your society how to be patient
[3:08]in the face of calamities this is a Leoben a atlanta body
[3:11]is Salaam but in this evening I would like to share with
[3:18]you and shed some light on the legacy of Amir al-mumineen Allah's
[3:22]Salam when it comes to his governance how did Ali ibn ABI
[3:26]Taleb Adi Salaam rule in those five years we are proud of
[3:34]our leader and Imam fourteen centuries later we must know why is
[3:39]it that ali bin ABI talib al salam is special what did
[3:45]he offer to the world if I am asked today by people
[3:47]who live in democratic countries with a strong economy in capitalist societies
[3:54]in places where there is some relative human dignity and freedom if
[4:02]I were to be asked why is that even a beautified it
[4:05]special what did he contribute to the world fourteen centuries ago I
[4:12]must have some understanding of his form of governance to really appreciate
[4:18]my Imam and the one whom I follow therefore I will briefly
[4:21]examine some aspects of the governance of Imam Ali Ali Salim economically
[4:26]and politically to better appreciate this leader that Allah subhana WA Ta'ala
[4:32]has endowed us with before we examine the contributions and accomplishments of
[4:38]Imam Ali honest it's important to understand the chaos and turmoil that
[4:45]he had to face when he became the Calif Imam Ali bin
[4:53]Abi Talib re salaam came after three caliphs but if you really
[4:57]examine what was happening in the Muslim Ummah you find that it
[5:02]was nothing but chaos especially after the rule of the third caliph
[5:08]Uthman ibn Affan if you examine what he did to the resources
[5:11]that Muslims had to the public funds in order for you to
[5:19]appreciate how the Imam Mahdi's Salaam brought a new system and why
[5:23]is it that he faced so many challenges during the time of
[5:26]Othman you find that there were social stratification people who were selfish
[5:32]were brought to power and the earth man would spend from the
[5:38]Muslim public funds on his family members on his relatives from the
[5:43]Umayyads there were two people who were exiled by rasulullah sallallahu alayhi
[5:48]wa ala al-haqq am OpenNebula house once he came to medina he
[5:58]was conspiring he would send word to the pagans so they would
[6:01]attack the people in medina and he would mark the prophet once
[6:06]he was walking before the prophets allah llahu allahu allah he started
[6:10]making funny faces and mocking rasul allah so allah who are they
[6:13]you are the prophet sallallaahu elevated due to his conspiracies and the
[6:17]fact that he undermined the national security of muslims he exiled him
[6:22]along with his young son Marwan abdel hakim when ours man came
[6:25]to power he welcomed them to medina not only that do you
[6:30]know what he did he took from the Muslim funds from the
[6:33]public treasury and he gave al Hakim the one who exile was
[6:39]exiled by rasoolallah he gave him three hundred thousand silver coins three
[6:43]hundred thousand dirhams and he gave Marwan one hundred thousand when he
[6:48]married his own daughter and he gave all the members of the
[6:55]bonito mania special privileges to the point where some companions had to
[7:00]starve to death Imam Ali bin Abi lot about his salaam had
[7:03]to face this type of rule when he came this type of
[7:10]chaos nepotism Lamia was empowered with so much resources there was no
[7:15]regard for human right or for human dignity even the companions of
[7:18]the Prophet SAW Allah Allahu Allah had no respecting the era of
[7:24]Othman Abu Dharr was exiled he died a miserable death and marhaban
[7:28]Yasser was harassed Sandman was harassed these great companions of Rasul Allah
[7:34]struggle during those eras and you know he himself Othman when he
[7:37]died do you know how much money they found in his house
[7:39]this is history my dear brothers and sisters not necessarily from our
[7:45]Shia sources from all Muslim sources look at the book maruja at
[7:49]the hub and see what he says about the wealth that Othman
[7:54]had amassed when Muslims were literally starving do you know how much
[7:58]money was found in his house they found one hundred fifty thousand
[8:02]dinars 150 thousand golden coins do you know how much money that
[8:07]it that isn't today's currency one dinar is about four grams of
[8:11]gold today what's the price of gold it's about $50 per gram
[8:17]you have 150 thousand coins times that by 4 that's around 600
[8:23]thousand grams of gold multiply that by 50 you get 30 million
[8:27]dollars in today's value in addition to that he had 1 million
[8:34]dirhams silver coins in his house this was the Khalifa who was
[8:37]representing the Prophet Sal Allahu Allahu Allah you see the chaos imam
[8:41]ali bin abu talib a nice and i'm had to face when
[8:45]he came to power the miserable condition 30 million dollars in your
[8:49]house and there are people starving when they ask you why is
[8:52]it you follow I didn't even have you thought about his said
[8:56]I'm tell the world which one should I follow the one who
[8:58]died and he left 30 million dollars or the one when he
[9:03]would go to the Friday sermon and people would see him fluttering
[9:08]his garment in the wind he would be asked why why do
[9:11]you do this you're giving a speech and you hold your garment
[9:15]and cloak and you flap it against the wind why he would
[9:17]say I only have one garment today's Friday I washed this garment
[9:23]I did not have time for it to dry which one would
[9:26]you follow Eileen you've been a beaut item or the others which
[9:30]one is my leader my dear brothers and sisters think about this
[9:34]logically put emotions aside which one is chosen by allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala
[9:39]in my mind even have you thought about his salaam had to
[9:45]face these challenges selfish governors who i'd wrecked havoc in the Muslim
[9:51]Ummah secondly when he came to power there were some power-hungry companions
[9:56]like pal hands obey they wanted a share of the power for
[10:00]their own interests that presented a challenge to Imam Ali ibn ABI
[10:03]Taleb Ali his Sunna and you find that there were shallow minded
[10:11]extremist Muslims just like we have today who thought they were worshipping
[10:15]God maybe they memorized the Quran maybe they could take 3 hours
[10:19]doing one Salah but they were extremists in their ideology very shallow
[10:24]minded and they turned to be the Hajj the Imam also had
[10:30]to deal with people like that when the Imam Hani Salaam came
[10:32]there was chaos everywhere you need to understand that to appreciate the
[10:37]contributions of Ameer al-mumineen on his Sunnah despite all of that we
[10:41]find that the achievements of Ameer al-mumineen are nothing short of spectacular
[10:51]he ruled from the year 35 to the year 40 after the
[10:54]hijra about five years let's examine some features of the governance of
[10:59]Ali ibn ABI Taleb Allah's Salam to better appreciate this divinely appointed
[11:03]leader and so we can also learn from his legacy in our
[11:10]everyday life the first thing that Imam Ali Allah's Salam did when
[11:13]he came to power he put very strict conditions on the governors
[11:17]and those who would rule the Imam did not tolerate any governor
[11:21]who was corrupt or who was selfish so one thing that he
[11:28]did he deposed and removed from power a number of governors who
[11:31]were known for their corruption and selfishness they mom would not tolerate
[11:34]that you represent the omen you represent the path of God you
[11:42]cannot be selfish and misuse your position in fact you find there
[11:47]are subtle issues that I leave Natali would not tolerate once he
[11:51]wrote a letter to his governor in Basra Oh saman Bunnell hanif
[11:58]the Imam wrote him a letter the amount of Samoas man it
[12:02]has come to my attention that some rich people in Basra invited
[12:10]you to this very extravagant dinner he did not steal any money
[12:15]he did not violate to anyone all he did he went to
[12:21]that dinner which only rich people were invited poor people had no
[12:25]access to that invitation the Imam rebukes him he tells him Osman
[12:28]is this something that's fair how do you dare go to such
[12:36]a meal to such a dinner when poor people are not welcome
[12:43]the imam ali said I've threatened him you see the firmness of
[12:46]a mural many nannies Salah this is a man of God who
[12:51]really cares about his people another feature that we find amongst the
[12:56]governors of Imam Ali RA Salam the Imam Ali Salaam made sure
[12:59]that his governors have the following qualities number one they had to
[13:03]be approachable you know back in history governors rulers Kings were not
[13:08]approachable its Imam Ali Ali Saddam who actually shifted this mindset that
[13:17]a ruler must be approachable in his letter to his governor on
[13:22]Egypt Muhammad ibn ABI buck listened to the words of Ameer al-mumineen
[13:25]Hani Salaam the Imam Hani Salaam tells his governor Phil de l'homme
[13:30]Generac why Ellen janab ik lower your wings for the people be
[13:35]approachable be sociable live amongst the people well up slit logic let
[13:43]people see you don't be like the kings who are always hiding
[13:47]from their people well I Sabina home Falana to another hot mama
[13:52]the imam ali salam is telling him when you're sociable and approachable
[13:58]the evil ones will not have the greed to influence you because
[14:08]they know the poor ones also go to you so they will
[14:14]not have this powerful lobby on you because when you're approachable accessible
[14:18]everyone can come and see you in that case you give access
[14:24]to the poor to voice their concerns to voice their grievances that
[14:29]blocks the powerful elites from influencing you these are the words of
[14:34]emulate medina is set up to his governors don't take advantage of
[14:37]your position that that was number one even if you have to
[14:42]go to a meal don't don't misuse your position and this is
[14:46]a lesson for us my dear brothers and sisters if i work
[14:49]at a company if I am a manager I'm a CEO don't
[14:53]misuse your position if you're a teacher you have some power don't
[14:56]misuse your position a lot of times we use our positions if
[15:01]we are in a position of power if I am in charge
[15:02]of something in order to achieve personal interests the Imam at Eastertime
[15:07]says never allow your position in society to secure your personal interests
[15:13]so one of the very important qualities of the governors of Imam
[15:18]Ali Ali Saddam was that they had to be approachable and the
[15:22]Imam would tell them don't go into hiding for too long on
[15:25]a regular basis the people have to see you then let's examine
[15:31]some other qualities the Imam Mahdi's Saddam would put for his governors
[15:34]one of the qualities is that the governor should not be stingy
[15:39]because when you're in a position of power and you're stingy what
[15:43]are the consequences you are disturbed or bothered when the nation benefits
[15:51]you can't see people in your lands in your territory benefit that
[15:57]disturbs you so you will come up with every excuse to withhold
[16:03]the funds from the people from development projects from benefiting the people
[16:08]the amount said no stingy people's in my government but at the
[16:11]same time no greedy people those who are selfish and greedy they
[16:14]have no room in the government of Imam Ali Allah's Salam number
[16:17]three and this is the problem of many third world countries the
[16:24]Imam Mahdi's salam tells his governors that you have to choose public
[16:29]officials who are experienced and they have a good track record you
[16:34]can't just bring someone who doesn't have any experience check their experience
[16:38]are they honest do they know what they're doing do they have
[16:41]the qualifications or no listen to the words of the Imam on
[16:45]Easter on he says what to us Shafi him elected Juba t1
[16:51]hiya min al buta to Saleh ha go after those good families
[16:55]who have a good track record people who are decent and qualified
[17:01]they know what they're doing they have expertise in agriculture they have
[17:05]experience and the economy they have experience and managing the affairs of
[17:09]the Ummah politically they have experience bring experienced people that way you
[17:15]succeed then we also find him I might even have you thought
[17:20]about his salon commanding his governors don't take credit for you for
[17:26]yourself and secondly don't act as if you have a favor over
[17:29]your nation you are a servant to the nation they have a
[17:36]favour over you by following you obeying you and allowing you to
[17:40]be to be the leader not the other way around don't act
[17:43]arrogantly with them we see that imam ali ali said and put
[17:48]these amazing guidelines for his governors and this was something unprecedented none
[17:54]of the previous caliphs was so strict so wise when it came
[17:57]to the selection of governors and the strict qualifications that he imposed
[18:03]this is one amazing feature of the governors of Imam Ali Allah's
[18:07]Salam the second feature that we find in the government of Imam
[18:12]Ali ibn ABI Taleb Allah's Salam is the amazing economic system that
[18:18]the Imam Mahdi's Salam brought forth for Humanity at the time let's
[18:23]examine some of these economic features number one Imam Ali bin Abi
[18:28]body body salam established a welfare state at a time in the
[18:32]world where no other nation on earth had a conception of a
[18:39]welfare state if you look at his treaty tomalak olestra you find
[18:43]that imam ali ali salam tells him there is a category of
[18:48]people i want you to put them on the payroll they should
[18:50]get a monthly salary who are they disabled people those who have
[18:55]disabilities they should receive a monthly salary from the state because their
[19:01]disability prevents them from working so we have to sponsor them and
[19:04]take care of them that's number one number two people who are
[19:10]so poor they're stuck in poverty they're desperate they have no way
[19:15]to lift themselves from poverty give them that initial boost lift them
[19:19]once they're established then they can take care of themselves number three
[19:23]a divorced or widowed woman who has no one to spend on
[19:26]her you put her on the public payroll she must receive a
[19:32]monthly salary you know today in the West we take pride in
[19:34]our welfare systems right Social Security 14 centuries ago in my mind
[19:40]even a beautiful body said I've instituted the policy of Social Security
[19:43]by taking care of those who were miserable the Imam Mahdi's Salam
[19:51]commands milah can I start to fear allah subhanaw taala that's part
[19:54]of what makes you a Muslim a Muslim doesn't mean you only
[19:58]pray and fast it means you take care of these people some
[20:01]Allah a bucket is so flour look at the lower class fear
[20:07]Allah in the lower classes and take care of them one feature
[20:10]of his economic state the amazing welfare system that he instituted that's
[20:15]number one number two we find that Imam Ali bin Abi Talib
[20:19]alehissalaam he encouraged the ease of starting a business the Imam Ali
[20:27]Salaam tells his governor's that you have to encourage businessmen traders merchants
[20:33]and craftsmen the more you help them the more you make things
[20:38]easy for them the more the nation prospers don't put impediments in
[20:45]their way make it easy you know subhanAllah today when you look
[20:48]at the economic condition of most countries around the world do you
[20:51]know those countries that are the most powerful economically what is it
[20:55]that distinguishes them from other countries the ease of starting your business
[20:59]and do you think the 50 or so Muslim countries come top
[21:05]in the list according to a study done by George Washington University
[21:10]some professors there they wanted to examine which of the Muslim countries
[21:15]or countries of the world were implementing the spirit of the Quran
[21:20]when it comes to the economy one factor is the ease of
[21:25]starting a business in some countries in the world so-called Muslim countries
[21:29]if you want to start a business you need to run for
[21:31]five years and you need connections and need to give bribes here
[21:36]and there but in the prosperous countries you can open a business
[21:39]in one day and you can register your business the Ammannati salaam
[21:43]tells them in order for your nation to prosper you have to
[21:46]support the businessman these are the words of the imam hani salaam
[21:53]some Estelle's EBIT to jar whether we sign out what I will
[21:56]say be him Sarah make them your priority look at the vision
[22:00]of Ameer al-mumineen honor his Silla he gave them so much importance
[22:05]but yes the humanity Salam realizes there are selfish businessmen who want
[22:11]everything for themselves and they will exploit others and they will monopolize
[22:14]essential needs in society impoverishing a lot of people the Imam on
[22:22]Islam does put a addition over here he does it's governors but
[22:26]if you see certain businessmen they're exploiting the weak they're monopolizing basic
[22:31]needs then no you have to step in and resolve this situation
[22:34]and today my dear brothers and sisters even in capitalist economies even
[22:39]in a country like the United States do you know how much
[22:46]monopolization there is just recently I read about a pharmaceutical company in
[22:51]the US during pharmaceuticals they basically bought a pharmaceutical company that would
[23:01]give medicine to treat a certain type of parasitic infection the pill
[23:07]was thirteen point five dollars $13.50 when this new company bought this
[23:13]pharmaceutical company they increase the price of this pill called daraprim to
[23:19]$700 from $13 to $700 per pill they monopolized having access to
[23:28]this pill and suddenly families found themselves needing to spend tens of
[23:34]thousands of dollars in order to treat their infections is there something
[23:39]that's fair Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Addison says there is freedom
[23:41]let the businessmen do whatever they want in order to develop business
[23:44]in society but not at the expense of exploiting other people this
[23:48]is unfair another company that bought a pharmaceutical company in the United
[23:53]States that treats one type of tuberculosis basically you would buy 30
[23:59]pills they would cost $500 it increased to ten thousand eight hundred
[24:06]dollars this is happening every day on Wall Street and so many
[24:08]people are suffering yes the United States is the most prosperous country
[24:11]a country on Earth but there are millions of Americans who are
[24:16]suffering you think the media talks about them and their plight you
[24:19]think Fox News and even CNN will go to these poor people
[24:23]and tell you what's happening to them there are millions of such
[24:26]Americans the Imam Mahdi's Saddam while he encouraged business but he put
[24:31]some guidelines that it should not be at the expense of exploiting
[24:33]other people this is the second beauty future of his economic system
[24:40]the third feature of the economic system of Imam Ali Allah's Salam
[24:45]is that he supported those sectors in society that actually gave you
[24:53]concrete services like agriculture the Imam Mahdi's said I'm his priority in
[24:59]society was agriculture he would always tell his people his guards his
[25:03]troops the governors if I hear that you've done any act of
[25:08]injustice to a farmer then who will save you from the wrath
[25:13]of alia have you thought him don't you go near farmers because
[25:15]everyone in society needs the services of farmers the Imam had so
[25:22]much respect for farmers because that represents real economy today you know
[25:25]how the world is being managed economically look at Wall Street people
[25:32]in Wall Street what do you think they do those who give
[25:36]financial services the most profitable sector today in America and the world
[25:42]is financial services those people who go to Wall Street people who
[25:45]go to Wall Street they don't develop anything they don't manufacture anything
[25:48]they don't grow anything they don't give you anything all they do
[25:54]is they charge money for services and that sucks up the resources
[25:57]of society it makes the poor poorer and the rich richer they
[26:00]might not even have you thought about it Salam he would support
[26:03]those people in society who would work with their hands who develop
[26:10]who developed the land construction projects the Imam Mahdi's Salam would support
[26:13]them in one hadith the Imam Mahdi's Salam says if you have
[26:18]a piece of land and there is water and you don't develop
[26:20]the land it's your fault don't say allah subhanaw taala did not
[26:25]provide me and he would quote this verse in the holy quran
[26:28]which says allah created you from the earth and allah subhana WA
[26:34]Ta'ala has caused you to inhabit the earth and to develop the
[26:37]land the a man would pay special emphasis to the development of
[26:41]the land to labor because the Imam knew the value of labor
[26:46]in the eyes of Amir al-mumineen that poor farmer who works Knight
[26:49]is much better than the guy sitting on Wall Street charging billions
[26:54]and million dollars of interest and not really benefiting you in any
[26:58]way he's not producing anything for you he's not making a product
[27:02]for you all he's doing he's sucking the money out of the
[27:05]nation the Imam at Islam would support agriculture this is one feature
[27:09]of his economic government and we have to be approch we have
[27:12]to appreciate that my dear brothers and sisters if the world today
[27:16]hears about the economic policy policies of amirul mumineen they will have
[27:20]so much respect for him one day imam had even have you
[27:23]thought about his salaam passed by a woman who lived in the
[27:29]city of Kufa ohm hassan and na hai that was her name
[27:35]the a man passed by her and he saw her having a
[27:37]spindle and she was spinning to probably make some thread some yarn
[27:42]the Imam and his sallam told her om Hassan what are you
[27:45]doing she said oh I mean what meaning I'm using my spindle
[27:50]I'm making some thread in order to make a living to sell
[27:53]it to live by it the Imam and he said I'm told
[27:57]her om Hassan this work that you do is one of the
[28:01]most honorable works a person can do you see how he supported
[28:05]small businesses just regular people working how he gave them a boost
[28:09]this was one of the features of his economic policy but I
[28:13]he magnify he says one day I was passing by I saw
[28:19]this old lady who should retire right this old lady she had
[28:21]a spindle and she was spinning I told her yeah Mottola o
[28:24]servant of God why are you working in this old age you're
[28:29]so old you should retire imam ali ali Saddam he taught that
[28:32]as long as Allah gives you health and power don't retire retirement
[28:37]it's not good for you it's not good for you psychologically it's
[28:40]not good for you physically you can work work she told him
[28:44]I mean a little mini in ali IBN ABI talib encouraged me
[28:47]to work and he told me this work is an honorable work
[28:52]you look at the spirits of MU many Nadia Sunna if we
[28:54]can take the spirit today and implement it in our society how
[29:00]much progress can we achieve and the Imam Ali said I'm also
[29:03]encourage the slaves who would be freed those slaves who would be
[29:09]emancipated he might not even have you thought about he said I
[29:12]would empower them and he would tell them work don't think that
[29:17]others can work you can also work be successful and he would
[29:20]really give them a boost these are some amazing economic policies and
[29:24]features of the government of the Imam Ali Salaam there is so
[29:28]much to discuss here I just want to give you an overview
[29:30]of the government of amirul mumineen the third feature that we examine
[29:35]in the government of the Imam Ali Salaam is the political feature
[29:40]politically how was the rule of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib a
[29:46]nasara' politically we find that the emphasis of Ameer al-mumineen on is
[29:51]salam in all of his government policies in all of his negotiations
[29:55]and treaties was honesty the imam ali salam has one powerful statement
[30:03]when some people objected they said it seems like maja we're outsmarts
[30:09]a leave maybe a tip because he manages to mobilize people he
[30:15]comes up with tactics with the help of amram than us and
[30:18]he comes up with these new strategies in order to undermine the
[30:23]power of Imam Ali on ISA ran in order to make supporters
[30:29]of Imam Ali defect as my Ally a smarter the Imam Ali
[30:35]Salaam got frustrated and he made his historic statement the imam al
[30:39]islam says wallahi mom or are we are to be at harmony
[30:44]i swear by god mahalia's not smarter than me he's not more
[30:48]savvy politically savvy than me but the thing is i have principles
[30:52]and deception has no room in my government otherwise if I wanted
[31:00]to use deception I would have been the savviest person in the
[31:03]OMA you think mahalia can outsmart Ameer al-mumineen but the Imam Mahdi's
[31:08]salam has principles the principles of honesty therefore all of the dealings
[31:14]of imam ali all of his transactions all of his political were
[31:17]based on honesty be honest and upfront don't resort to deception yes
[31:23]sometimes it's not your advantage politically but the Imam says take the
[31:26]high road this is the legacy that we take from Imam Ali
[31:31]Ali said I'm today the politicians do they go by this legacy
[31:34]today the politicians of the world do they sacrifice short-term personal interests
[31:41]for the interest of the nation or do they engage in deception
[31:46]but this is a message to us my dear brothers and sisters
[31:52]tonight we the followers of imam ali honest and i'm gathered to
[31:55]commemorate his legacy the imam teaches us in all of your dealings
[31:58]in life whether it's in the world of business whether it's family
[32:03]ties community ties be honest and upfront and through honesty allah subhanaw
[32:11]taala will compensate you just recently one of my very dear brothers
[32:14]told me about an incident at his company in which one of
[32:20]his associates was going into a business deal and his company was
[32:24]supposed to do that deal on behalf of those associates but he
[32:30]stopped from signing that deal because between him and allah subhana wa
[32:35]ta'ala he did not think it was the best deal he treated
[32:38]that associate just like he would treat his own company when that
[32:44]other company found out they were shocked they requested a meeting they
[32:49]were shocked why is it that you did not sign this because
[32:51]you have a commitments with your Lord to be honest and treat
[32:58]leather others by yourself that this opportunity was too expensive the price
[33:03]of this negotiation was too expensive here you write whatever you think
[33:07]is just and see how allah subhanaw taala turns things for you
[33:12]when you show that honesty my dear brothers and sisters let others
[33:15]know in your society that you are the most honest people we
[33:19]are the followers of amir al mu'minin even if there's millions of
[33:24]dollars involved but in the end is their honesty or no the
[33:27]imam ali salaam had many opportunities to use deception to even make
[33:33]a white lie but the Imam an Islam refused at the six-member
[33:37]council when Othman was selected the Imam was given the opportunity Abdul
[33:42]Rahman even I've told him all you have to say Ali is
[33:49]one word that I will go by the book of Allah the
[33:50]Serie of the prophet and the seal and the path of the
[33:55]shame Omar and Abu Bakr all you have to do is say
[33:58]that and we'll choose you as the Calif analyst mine won't come
[34:00]to power why did the Imam Mahdi's salam refused you could make
[34:07]up thousands of arguments it's for the sake of the ummah the
[34:10]amount doesn't care about his own self he cares about society no
[34:13]allium never thought it was a man in principle because had he
[34:20]accepted that and he would be dishonest imam ali IBN ABI talib
[34:24]would have failed justice and the religion of god and what's the
[34:27]worth of this world without the justice of allah subhanahu wata'ala you
[34:32]see the principles of MU and many Nadia Sarah even at the
[34:36]Battle of Siffin Imam Ali was one hour away from crushing bajalia
[34:40]one hour away with the garage those shallow minded people they surrounded
[34:46]him they forced him to stop the war because they thought well
[34:50]I will really wanted to negotiate they were fooled by mahalia and
[34:54]his evil tactics Monica leshner was fighting at the forefront one hour
[35:00]away from crushing mahalia for good for history in my my leave
[35:05]never thought about his nonsense in word come back come back why
[35:11]he said the Hawara have surrounded the believers they've surrounded us they're
[35:14]threatening to kill us to fight us and I had no choice
[35:19]but to give them my word that we will stop this war
[35:25]my little Esther felt so depressed in that moment he begged Imam
[35:29]and he told him I'm just one hour away just let me
[35:33]finish this battle the Imam Ali Saddam was a man of his
[35:35]word the Imam Ali Saddam explained to them that even if we
[35:39]crush morale we are now but because of these her entire g's
[35:44]history will say Ali was the aggressor and mahalia was the poor
[35:49]oppressed he wanted me to negotiate he wanted peace but honey did
[35:55]not want the peace the Imam did not want this to stay
[35:57]in history the Imam wants to leave this world Azzam of loom
[36:02]as oppressed so the world would know who their oppressor is and
[36:04]who the oppressor not is yes he gave up that victory at
[36:09]the feem but in order to save justice in order for the
[36:14]world not to be confused so they know where justice is so
[36:18]the most important feature in the political system of Imam Ali Allah's
[36:23]Salam is that there is absolutely no room for deception that's number
[36:28]one number two the Imam Ali Salaam gave liberty and freedom even
[36:36]to his opponents have you seen this in history the how our
[36:40]age who later fought Imam Ali bin Abi Talib the Imam Ali
[36:42]Salaam would allow them to come to his own message it they
[36:47]would argue he would give a speech they would cut him off
[36:49]have you seen a king who tolerates that you're giving a speech
[36:54]to your people the higher G's your enemies they stand up and
[36:58]they cut your speech they mock you they start mobilizing against you
[37:02]yet the Imam Ali Salaam he never kicked one of them out
[37:07]of the messaging or from the city of Kufa or he told
[37:10]them you have no right to speak this is the political freedom
[37:12]that Imam Ali even have you thought about his Salaam gave to
[37:15]his nation and this is something that we are appreciative of my
[37:19]dear brothers and sisters the third political feature in the government of
[37:23]Imam Ali was that he would never start a battle at Safina
[37:26]his companions were anxious they wanted to start the battle to finish
[37:33]Walia the Imam said no do not start the battle unless they
[37:36]start this is my policy even with his enemies he was humane
[37:43]even with his enemies don't start a battle and the Imam would
[37:46]give them instructions anyone injured in the battle leave them you have
[37:49]no right to kill them anyone who's wounded leave them anyone who's
[37:53]fleeing you see someone fleeing the battlefield don't go after them don't
[37:59]go and kill them this is a violation of the principles of
[38:02]algebra Atlanta body his Sara number four we find that Imam Ali
[38:05]did not force any soldier to fight with him you know even
[38:11]today you have countries that draft people to go to war right
[38:14]amount not even a battalion refused this policy the Imam Ali Salaam
[38:18]made it very clear to his governors that if there are soldiers
[38:22]they don't want to fight with you convince them but if they're
[38:24]not convinced don't force them and then he says a beautiful statement
[38:27]the Imam Mahdi is Saddam in his statement he says foreign and
[38:34]LaMotta carry on the one who's forced he doesn't believe in this
[38:36]war and you're just forcing him Mahe buhay rodman Mashhadi me my
[38:43]madam says the people who are forced they're compelled to fight their
[38:47]absence is better than their presence because if they don't believe in
[38:51]this they're going to create more trouble for you than good don't
[38:53]force anyone all those who fought with Nadia have you thought of
[38:59]a longest side they did so out of free will the a
[39:01]man did not compel them the imam ali salam did not force
[39:05]them and we find this amazing feature and the government of Amir
[39:08]al-mumineen and he said on because he was truly a man of
[39:12]humanity why should I force anyone to go to war yes I
[39:14]could mobilize them I can convince them show them right from wrong
[39:19]but in the end I don't force anyone and then we find
[39:21]that the fifth political feature in the government of Imam Ali Hani
[39:27]Salaam was that the Imam would tell his governors every opportunity you
[39:32]get to make a peace treaty with your enemies do so this
[39:36]is the legacy of honey given a baton it listen to the
[39:41]words of the Imam Ali Salaam he says when I had fun
[39:45]a son Honda akka lae here I don't work lillahi fie he
[39:48]loved them if there is a truce there is a treaty that
[39:54]saves lives that satisfies allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala don't hesitate in accepting these
[39:59]treaties and negotiating for them if you want to know the economic
[40:04]policy of imam mahdi we can summarize it in one word any
[40:06]time your enemy comes to negotiate and you know they're genuine in
[40:13]their negotiation allies happy accept don't say no he's my enemy he
[40:17]fought me before allah subhanaw taala wants peace in our ummah and
[40:21]the sixth political feature is that imam ali on islam was not
[40:28]an expansionist you know today when Orientals and Westerners look at the
[40:31]history of Islam one of their criticisms is that after the Prophet
[40:35]Sal Allahu Allahu Allah rulers came with the sword they spread Islam
[40:39]not all even everyone look at us five years they momineen salam
[40:47]did not go invading countries pillaging villages plundering their resources this was
[40:54]not a policy of the government of Imam Ali respect others respect
[40:58]nations respect their neighbors we don't find the Imam and he said
[41:03]I'm invading anyone because the man was a man of justice he
[41:08]was a servant of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala now my dear brothers
[41:11]and sisters today in the 21st century and we conclude with this
[41:15]significant question as we look at the legacy of Imam Ali one
[41:23]may wonder today in today's world why do I need the policy
[41:25]of Imam Ali when all these government's are successful their powerful look
[41:31]at the West Western powers how can Western powers today benefit from
[41:36]the legacy of Imam Ali Ali Sarah what is it that he
[41:41]contributed that today a country like Canada for instance a country like
[41:46]America like Europe can benefit from I would like to share with
[41:50]you three or four brief points how today the world can benefit
[41:56]from the policies of Imam Ali Ali Saleh number one Imam Ali
[42:00]Allah's Salam banned all types of bribery during his reign in fact
[42:08]some people like Allah had been faced they would come to see
[42:11]Imam Hadi and once he brought him this beautiful dish delicious dish
[42:16]of desserts the imam ali said i'm told him what is this
[42:21]was a nice dessert fancy extravagant it's a gift he says what
[42:26]is this is this saga is this charity he said no then
[42:31]what is this eyelash I've told him this is a gift the
[42:34]Imam and his Salaam says the minute I looked at dessert I
[42:39]despised it it's as if it was made with the saliva of
[42:45]a snake look at the descriptions of Imam Ali the Imam despised
[42:48]it not because it's an era of allah subhanaw taala because it
[42:51]was an act of bribery Imam and he says in my eyes
[42:55]if you bring me the most delicious thing but it's through bribery
[42:57]I see it as the saliva of snake what's ruler in history
[43:02]things like that my dear brothers and sisters look at the greatness
[43:05]of immutable meaning he says you're trying to play with my religion
[43:08]gift for what why are you giving me a gift how come
[43:11]you don't give it to the poor guy on the street you're
[43:16]concerned about giving gifts why me you have a reason you have
[43:19]any incentive you have an ulterior motive the Imam would not accept
[43:23]that he told them take it I'm not touching your desert today
[43:27]my dear brothers and sisters the law bans bribery yes in America
[43:31]and Canada the law bans bribery but we have the biggest form
[43:37]of political bribery in the form of campaign contributions in the previous
[43:43]election in the United States and the last election do you know
[43:50]how much Americans spent on the elections any idea six billion dollars
[43:55]US dollars that's I don't know like eight billion Canadian dollars right
[44:01]imagine eight billion dollars spent on the campaign on the elections that's
[44:07]not bribery who's paying this money for what yes there are some
[44:11]limitations that you cannot take more than I don't know a thousand
[44:16]five hundred dollars as a gift to someone in office but through
[44:20]political action committees through super PACs you can donate billions of dollars
[44:26]especially in America now in Canada it's better because there are more
[44:30]strict laws on campaign and political spending over here members of parliament
[44:34]in Canada on average spent somewhere from $12,000 to $90,000 in America
[44:39]do you know how much it is the average congressman in the
[44:45]House of Representatives spends $500,000 on their campaign and the Senators they
[44:50]spent 1.5 million dollars every senator you've got a hundred senators they
[44:54]spend 1.5 million dollars there's no limitation on what they spend and
[44:58]that's why you find that the most powerful lobbies in the world
[45:04]are in the United States of America why is it this a
[45:07]type of bribery if we want to benefit from the legacy of
[45:11]imam mahdi today this should be resolved six billion dollars this is
[45:15]a bribe you can call it campaign contributions we can play with
[45:20]the words all we want in the end it's groups using money
[45:23]to apply pressure that's all they're doing Imam Ali bin Abi thought
[45:26]about Islam says this is there's no room for such bribery's and
[45:31]a healthy government that way you ensure that the people their rights
[45:36]are protected that's one area in which we can really benefit from
[45:40]the legacy of Imam Ali and hence you find that in powerful
[45:45]countries that like the United States you have lobbies like the NRA
[45:50]the National Rifle Association they spend billions of dollars lobbying Congress in
[45:58]order to loosen gun laws gun control laws in the United States
[46:02]are one of the most flexible laws around the world why do
[46:07]you know how many Americans get killed every year because of gun
[46:15]violence 30,000 Americans every single year 10 years that's 300,000 people 300,000
[46:20]people they don't have dignity they're not citizens why do you allow
[46:28]300,000 people in 10 years to be killed it's because of these
[46:31]lobbies this is something that we benefit my dear brothers and sisters
[46:35]from the law of emulate manin Ollie's salaam protect those who are
[46:39]weak by banning these bribery's by banning these lobbyists who only care
[46:44]for their interests that's one area another area we learned my dear
[46:47]brothers and sisters and I conclude with this from the legacy of
[46:51]Imam Hani is that those governor's those leaders they should be morally
[46:59]fit to leave because people in society look up to them they
[47:02]should be people the way they speak the way they carry themselves
[47:05]they should be appropriate they should be polite they should hold moral
[47:11]standards not people who go on public TV and they say immoral
[47:19]things or womanizers them says you should have standards for your rulers
[47:24]people look up to these rulers they should be an example for
[47:28]everyone and they should hold the highest levels of morality this is
[47:32]the legacy that we learn from Imam Ali ibn ABI Taleb alehissalaam
[47:37]but my dear brothers and sisters Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala gave us
[47:43]these shining stars and leaders like Ameer al-mumineen arias and what did
[47:48]the world do to Amir al-mumineen I want to take now your
[47:55]hearts to the city of Kufa after five years of difficulties civil
[48:00]wars his own companions betraying him to the point where Ameer al-mumineen
[48:07]who's a mountain of patience he said I wish I never knew
[48:10]you you think your men you're not even men what did they
[48:14]do to the heart of amira nominee Allah gave us the shining
[48:17]leader on such a night what happened to Imam Ali ibn ABI
[48:24]Talib Ali his historical accounts tell us on such a night on
[48:28]the 9th of the 19th of the month of Ramadan the Imam
[48:32]Ali his Salam was in the house of his daughter Zeynep some
[48:36]narrations say umm Kulthum because in the nights of Ramadan in Kufa
[48:42]every night Imam Ali would go to the house of one of
[48:44]his sons or daughters to have a thought on this night he
[48:49]was in the house of his daughter she approaches him at the
[48:53]time of Adan after he prayed his mother a prayer she brought
[48:59]him his dish so he can have his fr she put for
[49:01]him too loaves of barley bread some milk and some salt they
[49:07]mama D salam looked at her he told her my dear daughter
[49:12]what have you seen your father eat types of food several types
[49:16]of allahu akbar ali IBN ABI talib bread milk and salt and
[49:20]you call this types of food this is amirul mumineen the Imam
[49:26]says take the milk this is my last if thought tonight I
[49:28]want to meet my lord in this humble way having only eaten
[49:34]some bread and some salt and this is how our molla Ameer
[49:37]al-mumineen Ali Saddam broke his fast on such a night after the
[49:43]Imam Ali his Saddam broke his fast he engaged in supplication supplicating
[49:48]to allah subhanaw taala worshipping allah after a while he took a
[49:54]short nap after he woke up from the nap he gasps he
[50:00]gathered his sons and daughters and he told them my sons and
[50:03]daughters just now in my dream I saw Habibi rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi
[50:11]wa ardu just now I saw your grandfather Rasul Allah he embraced
[50:19]me and he told me Habibi Yanni our beloved Ali we miss
[50:27]you you are to be our guest in the last days of
[50:29]the month of Ramadan o Ali we eagerly await you my dear
[50:35]sons and daughters my time has come Uncle Tom says on such
[50:42]a night I would see my father Ali frequently going to the
[50:46]back yard to the courtyard he would look at the sky he
[50:52]would look at the stars and he would say he o Allah
[50:58]& Nail eternity while I Denny haha baby Rasul Allah he said
[51:01]I swear by God this is the night this is the night
[51:07]that Rasool Allah has promised me this is the night it has
[51:10]approached umm Kulthum she says my father was not normal on such
[51:17]a night never had I seen him so anxious I told him
[51:19]yeah Abbot are my dear father you are the most courageous man
[51:26]I've seen I've seen you in more difficult moments in the midst
[51:28]of battle and the midst of chaos you were always strong but
[51:35]tonight you look a different oh my father I can see it
[51:37]in your face you're at your there's anxiety in your face what's
[51:42]going on he tells her my dear daughter tonight is a different
[51:46]night and one Tata Emma my dear daughter uncle su my age
[52:00]and my time has come one kata alla mmm there is no
[52:03]hope tonight is a different night I'm looking at the Stars I
[52:07]see it it's the Knights the Prophet gave me all the signs
[52:10]imam ali IBN ABI talib engages that night till the federer in
[52:15]supplication and praying to allah subhana wa ta'ala he told his daughter
[52:21]when the time of dawn when the time of Federer approaches I
[52:26]want you to notify me umm Kulthum says shortly before dawn I
[52:30]went to my father Ali ibn ABI but I told him father
[52:35]the time for Federer is approaching in a few minutes the dawn
[52:38]will break out the mamani sallam asked for some water he did
[52:45]his final with all believers the Imam was now preparing himself to
[52:52]go to their messages the Imam Ali his salon he Fair was
[52:55]on calm his sons and daughters the Imam he passes through the
[53:03]courtyard of the house there were some geese that were gifted to
[53:05]imam al hasan and husayn when I mean a little more money
[53:10]in passed by them they started making commotion Allah Akbar it's as
[53:13]if they were telling him our master don't go in that Masjid
[53:19]we sense danger Imahara Salaam when he heard their commotion he said
[53:27]so I on tobacco ha no I the Imam said right now
[53:31]they're yelling they're making Kuno commotion but soon there will be cries
[53:36]of weeping after me yes the Imam was walking towards his destiny
[53:42]uncle thumb says as my father was about to enter the Masjid
[53:48]he was wearing a belt one side of the belt got stuck
[53:52]to the door subhanAllah even the belt of a mule mumineen was
[53:57]begging him Oh Andy don't go in there the danger awaits you
[54:04]inside imam ali IBN ABI talib fastened his belt and he read
[54:08]these powerful lines of poetry he said o she doth high as
[54:19]a mechanimal Finnell motor ithaca while attaches i am an animal Oh
[54:24]Hannah bernard iike comma of a hika Khadgar geek Oh Annie fasten
[54:38]your seat belt for what for - this is - arriving over
[54:45]here don't run away from death Oh Annie this's life just as
[54:49]life makes you happy one day life also will make you cry
[54:56]one day the imam ali he enters in the mosque o believers
[55:01]imagine now yourself in the mosque of Kufa and your Imam is
[55:07]passing by at the time of Federer the Imam RA is Salam
[55:09]he goes to his Mahad he prays to like a Mustafa prayers
[55:16]than the meymaneh he's the one who makes the call to the
[55:19]other imagine hearing the beautiful words of Amir al-mumineen calling for the
[55:26]other when you have such an amazing leader who's so humble he
[55:32]calls then for you how can you hurt such a leader o
[55:33]believers the EEMA mining is saddam finishes that on all the mousseline
[55:43]the people they gather up in Muslim and Marathi the enemy of
[55:47]Allah he was also in the message he was carrying a poisonous
[55:51]sword underneath his garment he realized that this was his opportunity when
[55:57]Imam Ali Ani Salaam would start his prayer he would go hiding
[56:02]behind a pillar in order to make a surprise attack on Emir
[56:08]a little mini imagine imagine this is the final salad that the
[56:13]Iman does while standing imagine there me or in the mosque and
[56:21]he starts salat al-fajr Allahu Akbar imagine amirul mumineen turning to um
[56:26]o believers on such a night honor your Sunnah play like pray
[56:33]like Amir al-mumineen pray like it's your last prayer just like Amir
[56:40]al-mumineen vemma - and begins the recitation the tragedy is coming o
[56:45]believers can you handle what happened to your Mona amirul mumineen the
[56:51]Imam - and uh says Allah Akbar he goes into his aruku
[56:56]supplicating to his lord submitting himself to allah subhanahu wata'ala his best
[57:02]moment was sunnah the imam an incident stands up then he goes
[57:09]into his first sujood Oh believers the enemy of God upon Muslim
[57:14]comes when the Imam Ali is sanam raises his head from sujood
[57:19]epidermal jam takes out the sword he jumps from behind the pillar
[57:27]he makes a surprise attack and as they mom raises his head
[57:32]from sujood he strikes the head of an EMP funny way mom
