[0:00]I thought I was gonna see more maple leaf jerseys tonight in
[0:16]Charlotte you know miss Miller rahmanir rahim al hamdu lillahi rabbil aalameen
[0:24]bob Alcala ajma'in Barthelemy huh ul mousseline from isola to assalam o
[0:33]Allah Shah aalam BIA was a Idol mousseline Habibi yalla yalla mean
[0:39]al Mustafa a bullosa me Muhammad you we'll cover them from the
[4:29]Sun maybe they did not even have clothes get to that understanding
[4:33]where they could develop houses they develop shelters they develop laws etc
[4:40]etc and we said something which is important in order to make
[4:44]nation independence you have to teach them and that's apparently what though
[4:48]there are a couple of very important points also to learn from
[4:55]these two stories his trip to the West and his trip to
[5:00]the east just before I go on brothers and sisters the Holy
[5:03]Koran tells us if a lion to the baboon al-quran to people
[5:07]not reflect upon the Quran you see how many lessons we've been
[5:11]deriving from these verses remember what I said a few nights ago
[5:17]I said the Quran the beautiful thing about it when it gives
[5:20]us examples they're real real people real examples if we sit down
[5:25]and think a little bit about how great these people are these
[5:29]great these personalities are we can derive so many lessons and to
[5:33]be honest with you we're still at the tip of the iceberg
[5:36]imagine if we were to go over the whole surah at calf
[5:41]how many days would that take us to discuss the entire surah
[5:47]and in detail in depth as we're doing for example although we're
[5:50]not even going in depth you know touching here and there but
[5:54]the Quran contains so much knowledge so much knowledge that's why Allah
[6:01]subhana WA Ta'ala says in the holy quran ma'fucker grotto now fill
[6:06]kitabi which men'she we did not leave anything out of this book
[6:09]everything is contained in this book the problem is of course we
[6:12]don't understand this book you know I give an analogy sometimes to
[6:19]people because just an analogy imagine if you have a fourth year
[6:23]book of medicine that's taught at the University for like medical students
[6:27]in their fourth year you give that book to somebody who has
[6:30]just finished in high school and you tell them here read this
[6:35]book they might go through the first couple pages and say I
[6:37]don't understand this language just as an analogy that's how it is
[6:44]with the Quran the Quran has all this wealth of knowledge but
[6:46]it needs those who can understand it and those are a little
[6:50]beta alayhi wasallam that's why the quran tells us fest LOL a
[6:55]vicar as the people of the Quran and who I will become
[6:57]a little beta Allah him Acela they're the ones from Allah purified
[7:01]from them we learn these beautiful meanings of the Quran and that's
[7:10]why imam musa alayhis salam says i know of what happened in
[7:13]the past and what will happen on the future and i know
[7:18]of what is in the heavens and what is on the earth
[7:20]and i know of what is in the Hellfire and what's in
[7:26]the paradise when his companions said yep nagas Ollila how do you
[7:30]know all this information he says from the holy allah or on
[7:34]says ma farratna fi l-kitabi min shay'in' not leave anything out of
[7:37]this book the book contains everything but we are the ones who
[7:40]understand what the book talks about and that's what the Quran also
[7:47]says bismillah r-rahman r-rahim fika table in McNown la ma su who
[7:52]ll maha own it's in a hidden book referring to the Quran
[7:55]it's in a hidden book that is not discovered except by those
[8:02]who are purified with a home and who are the purified ones
[8:05]well you guys know the eye off top here in the Quran
[8:11]verse 33 chapter 33 remember that 33 33 you got to remember
[8:15]that verse enema you read hola leo de barranco mo grids al
[8:21]Bayt well he become top here ah surely allah who wants to
[8:24]remove all impurities away from you a little bait and purify you
[8:30]a thorough purification and according to a hadith in sahih muslim so
[8:36]he Muslim is one of the major sunni books of hadith in
[8:40]that SIA and that book a major Sunni text there is a
[8:46]hadith narrated by the prophets wife omean Ayesha Ayesha herself says the
[8:52]prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ali took Imam Ali under his eye by
[8:57]here the abaya like this he took Imam Ali underneath it and
[9:00]then Fatima Hasan and Husayn and he was of course with them
[9:03]and he led the iana mridula nudibranch Amogh little l-bayt wahewa coat
[9:11]doctor here are allow us to remove all impurities away from you
[9:14]ll bait and purify you a thorough purification so who are a
[9:19]little bait huh who are a little bit according to this hadith
[9:26]the Prophet sallallaahu you are a man Ali Allah's Salam fatima alehissalaam
[9:29]Hasan and Husayn salam ala ala him and of course from other
[9:33]hadeeth we also understand that the progeny of imam hussain the imams
[9:36]alayhim as-salam the remaining nine imams of the progeny of imam hussain
[9:41]alehissalaam are also of Ahlul Bayt salawatullahi wa salam wa image man
[9:46]these are the purified ones who understand the Quran I'm just trying
[9:56]to give you a picture here a very small picture of how
[9:58]great the Quran is and how many lessons we can derive of
[10:02]the Holy Quran if we invest time and learning it going back
[10:08]to the story one important lesson that we learn from his journey
[10:13]to the west' and his journey to the east is whenever the
[10:18]Hylian used to go to his different people you know he met
[10:21]a group in the West he met a group in the east
[10:25]and later on you will see that he meets a group on
[10:30]his third journey he always speaks to them in a very important
[10:33]mode of communication and that is speak to them in a language
[10:39]that they understand Imam Ali of nevia pallium salawatullahi wa salamu alayh
[10:46]says hot label nasa ala battery only him speak to people according
[10:51]to their understanding that's why I have developed what I call the
[10:57]five seas the five Cs for effective communication five words each one
[11:04]commencing with a sea so those of you who want to remember
[11:09]you can remember five C's for effective communication the first C for
[11:14]effective communication is what I call consideration consideration is you consider your
[11:22]audience who are you speaking to who are you talking to for
[11:26]example if I am going to talk to a group of elementary
[11:32]students about kidney stones how they form what are kidney stones well
[11:36]I need to speak to them a language that they will be
[11:42]able to understand so I have to introduce what are even kidney
[11:45]stones some of those people may have not even seen a kidney
[11:47]stone may have not even heard of something called kidney stones so
[11:53]a good thing to do for example with that group is maybe
[11:56]even to bring them some samples of kidney stones bring them different
[12:00]kinds you know tell them there is this kind of kidney stone
[12:03]that kind of kidney stone this kind of kidney stone and what
[12:06]is the difference between the different kinds so they can see they
[12:11]can observe and maybe even get them give them to do a
[12:13]very small lab observation what do you see the difference here between
[12:18]the two that different kinds of kidney stones this one versus this
[12:20]one versus that one what do you see do what do you
[12:25]observe and that's how a person may introduce the topic of kidney
[12:27]stones to a group of Lantry students who may not have had
[12:32]any background any knowledge however from giving a talk about kidney stones
[12:37]to a group of scientists who are professionals in the field of
[12:42]kidney stones I don't need to discuss all that background information these
[12:46]scientists are gathered there to see what discoveries have I made new
[12:53]discoveries in the field of kidney stone research so I can just
[12:55]jump into either the topic I give a very brief introduction as
[13:00]to why I'm doing this research and then I dive right into
[13:03]it because all those people will understand what I'm talking about that's
[13:07]what I call consideration so always my brothers and sisters whenever you're
[13:11]invited to give a talk you got to consider who your audience
[13:13]are as academics sometimes we get invited to give a public talk
[13:18]public lecture which means people who don't have the scientific back on
[13:20]well-attended if I'm gonna be giving a public talk it's not going
[13:25]to be the same language that I will use in my scientific
[13:27]talk I will you know we'd use down the level of the
[13:30]science to a way that those people can understand there is no
[13:36]point in presenting a lecture that's highly scientific and sophisticated where people
[13:41]say masha'Allah you know this guy is really smart he's really great
[13:45]well did you understand anything from his lecture no all I didn't
[13:47]understand a thing of what he said I had no clue what
[13:48]he was talking about but he seems to be really smart you
[13:51]know that's useless you don't want to give such a lecture you
[13:54]want to give a lecture where people understand so that's the first
[13:58]C in effective communication consideration you consider your audience that's one two
[14:04]the second C an effective consider in an effective modes of communication
[14:09]is what I called the C for critical or what is critical
[14:16]you want to have some good content you want to have a
[14:21]content to speak about you know you have some individuals who come
[14:24]out and they write stuff and they write you like weird tweets
[14:28]Co VC and whatever things like this where you're like what does
[14:34]this mean like I have no idea well do you know what
[14:37]you're talking about no even I don't know what I'm talking about
[14:39]but you know kV fees you know and then you have Co
[14:44]V few restaurants kvp coffees GDB dishes kV fee whatever and all
[14:48]those things like what are you talking about no idea so you'll
[14:51]have people sometimes well maybe even world leaders who'd come to the
[14:54]platform and they talk and talk and you like what is he
[14:58]talking about for God's sake no idea even he doesn't have a
[15:02]clue of what he's talking about so you gotta make sure that
[15:05]you have a critical message you're critical you give something you give
[15:10]something of value when you speak so invest time brothers and sisters
[15:13]when you're delivering a lecture you're giving a talk you want to
[15:16]invest time in speaking so that's the second C so first C
[15:25]for consideration the second C for critical being critical the third C
[15:29]is what I call the c4 concise be brief get to the
[15:35]point you know sometimes we have a Q&A sessions like you know
[15:40]after a program we might have a Q&A we say okay for
[15:42]work well designate 30 minutes for Q&A you get this person who
[15:46]picks up the microphone I have a question or I need to
[15:49]say something yes he talks for like five minutes and then after
[15:53]five minutes you tell him so brother what's your question you'd be
[15:56]like I don't have a question I was just making a comment
[15:59]it's a thirty minute Q&A you just killed five minutes for a
[16:04]comment I mean it's nice to be considerate of others as well
[16:06]so I don't know if you've experienced that it happens everywhere even
[16:13]at work it might be even at a presentation somebody who makes
[16:16]a comment or wants to give a question and he keeps on
[16:22]asking and asking and asking and it'll be like what is your
[16:26]question and finally it gives you well my question is you know
[16:30]I don't really know what my question is all right just like
[16:32]a lot I go brother may Allah bless you in sha Allah
[16:35]thank you I sent you know so that's be concise when you
[16:40]speak be concise it's important you know it's something I tell people
[16:46]to do take an article like you know a newspaper article it's
[16:51]maybe 500 600 words give or take depending on the article and
[16:56]try to summarize it in maybe two three sentences that's a good
[17:01]way to actually learn to be concise take a newspaper article and
[17:05]try to summarize it in to three sentences and see how you
[17:12]can manage the whole gist of the article and to three sentences
[17:15]at most and that will teach you how to become concise I
[17:19]remember when I wrote my PhD thesis and I gave it to
[17:25]my committee that examining committee the professors who examined me I remember
[17:29]one of them coming up to me and saying you know what
[17:34]I really like your thesis I was like really like the content
[17:36]of it is like well I haven't read it yet but I
[17:40]saw that only has few you know hundred pages you know usually
[17:43]they write 500 600 pages they write us like a huge thisis
[17:47]you your thesis is quite short I really liked it you know
[17:51]I haven't read it yet but I'm already happy with it so
[17:53]that's really what you want to do if you can say it
[17:56]in a few words you say it in a few words so
[18:00]concise is important and that's the third C for effective cease of
[18:05]communication so first we said what you remember consideration you consider your
[18:11]audience the second C for critical gotta have some critical content third
[18:17]is for what concise for clear C for clear you got to
[18:26]be clear especially this is important for people like myself you know
[18:30]I always have to remind myself of being clear it's difficult to
[18:34]give a lecture where it's a monologue you know I'm talking you're
[18:37]listening and it's even more difficult when you have a huge audience
[18:40]a big audience I may say something which I intend something but
[18:46]it may be understood in a different manner and that's why it's
[18:53]extremely important to try to make your talk as clear as possible
[18:57]but we're not perfect you know we all fall victim sometimes for
[19:00]this where we might say something that we don't intend or it
[19:06]may have something that an understanding that we do not anticipate and
[19:10]that's why it's important than to ask the speaker you know I
[19:13]heard you say so and so is that really what you meant
[19:16]or did you mean something else so that's something really important and
[19:19]that's something I want to add to never come to a conclusion
[19:24]without actually discussing with the speaker you find sometimes people circulating emails
[19:27]messages etc etc all the speakers said this and this did you
[19:32]hear him look look this is what he said well did he
[19:35]ever ask the speaker is this really what you meant so no
[19:37]I did it well how do you know this is really what
[19:41]he meant so it's important it's important to understand what the speaker
[19:46]is talking about but as a speaker you want to try to
[19:52]be as clear as possible not as clear as mud okay as
[19:55]clear as possible so that's what you really want to be clear
[20:02]to the best durability that's your fourth see so don't use heavy
[20:05]fees quite a lot in your conversations and your speeches please a
[20:08]number five when you speak the five modes for effective communication the
[20:15]fifth one is actually confidence to be confident there is research about
[20:20]it actually you know they've done research liars who speak with confidence
[20:30]are more believed than truthful people who speak with hesitation they've done
[20:35]an experiment a socialist you know they've done like they brought some
[20:39]people who would say some false things and because they're confident as
[20:45]they say them they appear right now what really blows my mind
[20:51]away is when you have someone who is not even confident and
[20:53]he keeps on lying but people still believe in him that I
[20:58]don't understand I'm to be honest with you that I just don't
[21:01]get not only that they elect him as president to that to
[21:03]be on that I really I just don't get it you know
[21:07]I just don't get it I mean you read throughout the campaign
[21:09]in all the newspapers the New York Times you know the Canadian
[21:13]Press you can look like 20 false things this individual said in
[21:19]his speech you know 15 false things he knowed he said in
[21:22]his talk so I mean he's lying but people say well this
[21:29]is the president we like well I guess like some other former
[21:33]president of yours said which I agree with him on that statement
[21:39]he says you get the president or the leader you deserve so
[21:42]I guess people like that kind of comment nonetheless confidence is important
[21:49]confidence can stem of course from your understanding of the subject if
[21:54]you understand what you're talking about then you'll be confident talking about
[21:57]it it understand it comes also from talking the truth that's why
[22:04]I tell the brothers and the sisters always be on the side
[22:07]of the truth because when you are on the side of the
[22:10]truth you always be confident the truth only has one face the
[22:14]others side you know you can always create all kinds of sin
[22:20]all scenarios but when you're on the side of the truth you're
[22:22]confident this is what it is this is how it is so
[22:25]in order to build that confidence you're going to know what you're
[22:28]talking about and say clearly what you're talking about to the best
[22:35]of your knowledge and to the best of your understanding this is
[22:38]something that was we were told when we're doing our graduate degree
[22:43]as well a lesson that some of you might learn whenever you're
[22:46]asked a question and you don't know the answer what's the answer
[22:50]that you should say I don't know I know it sounds like
[22:56]you know a genius thing but this but but that's basically what
[23:00]you need to say in fact the Prophet sallallahu alehiwassallaam but one
[23:06]a lot I lollie one of the Companions of the Prophet abou
[23:10]that he gives him an advice he says yeah about that whenever
[23:15]you're asked a question if you know the answer answer if you
[23:21]don't then what is what do you say I don't know say
[23:23]I don't know and Imam Ali assalaam says those who say I
[23:30]don't know they are the true scholars someone who really understands not
[23:36]someone who stands and says 20 false things in their speech and
[23:39]they still believe they're right that guy has no clue what he's
[23:45]talking about it's those individuals who actually say when you say I
[23:49]don't know it really shows that you have an understanding you have
[23:52]some knowledge you have some background this topic you don't know you
[23:55]may say to the individual that you know what let me research
[23:59]this further and I'll get back to you if that's something that's
[24:01]possible so let me go investigate it and now I can I
[24:06]can get back to you on that one but never pretend that
[24:10]you know especially if you're talking to experts because we were told
[24:17]the minute you pretend that you know something and you're talking to
[24:22]the experts you've just dug yourself into a hole and they will
[24:25]understand that you know what you're talking about so they'll give you
[24:30]deeper and deeper until youth they bury you in that hole so
[24:34]when you don't know just say I don't know however one of
[24:37]the ways to establish your confidence is by doing your research doing
[24:43]your homework coming and talking these are the five Cs that I
[24:46]made up or I said you know for effective communications so again
[24:52]just to summarize there the C for consideration to consider your audience
[24:56]and hence you got to prepare your talk based on who the
[24:59]audience are the second C for critical means having a critical content
[25:03]something which is good something useful three the third C was four
[25:12]do you remember what concise be concise the fourth C was for
[25:17]what clear clarity try to have a clear communication clear understanding and
[25:22]v c is for confidence be confident as you talk you don't
[25:30]need to hesitate some people they say well I don't have that
[25:33]in me you know the confidence part okay what do I do
[25:34]well practice practice makes perfect so you've got a practice and eventually
[25:40]you'll get a hang of it so these are some of the
[25:45]things that you guys can do in addition to this we find
[25:51]the AG 9 the AG 9 when he came to that group
[25:56]which were oppressed who were oppressed but they were the believers he
[26:00]also adds and he says those guys who were believers was Anna
[26:04]Oh Lula whom in a marina you saw what a man and
[26:09]Amina Camilla solely on fella who Jezza Anelka sneh was an Akula
[26:16]woman Amina you saw he who believes and does good deeds then
[26:20]he will be rewarded well and what else we will speak with
[26:31]them gently softly kindly some people you speak to them and you
[26:35]tell them that for example hey job is watchable they tell you
[26:38]her job is in the heart I just believe in it you
[26:45]think that's true you tell someone for example why don't you pray
[26:48]he's like well I'm a good person I help a lot of
[26:52]people I think that's fine that's enough well the Quran answer is
[26:58]you Allah says Allah Dena I'm Anu and what else what I'm
[27:02]it'll Saudi hot those who believe and what do good deeds belief
[27:09]alone is not enough many people say well I'm a good Billy
[27:15]I believe in Allah la ilaha il-allah and I believe in the
[27:17]Prophet I believe in a little bit a lorena madirasi excellent great
[27:26]well done but that's not enough belief has to be coupled with
[27:30]action you got a coupled with action I'm in Australia Hut do
[27:37]you guys memorize yoga tell us or Java to Allah so do
[27:40]you have it memorized smell of manna rahim voila us in l-insana
[27:46]leve hosam ll Edina MN oh well I'm in Australia hard whatever
[27:56]so we'll help water was also Allah is wearing by the Russell
[28:00]whatever the Oscar is I don't we don't have time to get
[28:02]into it now but the human is at the loss is at
[28:06]a loss he's losing we're all at a loss except for a
[28:11]person who has four characteristics for things what are these four things
[28:17]a menu they believe in Allah they have to have the belief
[28:23]the Iman that's one what else what a middle soil Hut they
[28:26]do good deeds what Owosso will Huck they follow the truth and
[28:31]what I was all the sub up they hold on to patient
[28:36]their patients they need to be patient a little bit these four
[28:39]types these four characteristics combined in a person that person then he
[28:44]is not at a loss everyone else is at a loss Iman
[28:48]is important because it sets our and ten I am praying what
[28:54]do we say when we pray when we make a no any
[28:58]I'm praying let's say for example to have a castle at Ulm
[28:59]availab then what do we say Alba Tennille allahi ta'ala seeking the
[29:06]nearness to Allah I'm praying to please Allah I am fasting the
[29:12]month of Ramadan Autobot Anil allahi ta'ala seeking the pleasure of allah
[29:18]getting closer to allah I'm paying zakat Olfa Torah which is about
[29:21]in few days we have to pay it all but Anil allahi
[29:25]ta'ala seeking and so on and so forth that's why I am
[29:30]doing all this work to please Allah I don't care if people
[29:32]find out I built this big Hospital nobody needs to know that
[29:37]I actually don't need it to build this big Hospital nobody needs
[29:39]to know that I'm helping the orphans no one needs to know
[29:41]I'm doing it to please Allah Allah even if they take the
[29:45]credit and give it to somebody else let them give it to
[29:47]somebody else Allah knows who's doing the virial work so that's why
[29:52]I don't care that's the attitude that's why you need the Iman
[29:56]you need the belief the framework Iman alone is not good enough
[30:00]I'm sorry AHA good deeds good deeds good these are very important
[30:06]as well and to follow the truth and to be patient so
[30:09]that's something important we should not just fool ourselves and say you
[30:15]know what I'm a good person in my heart good hamdulillah you're
[30:17]a good person in your heart but that's not enough you need
[30:21]to have the faith and you need to couple that with the
[30:23]action so here he says those who are good who are believers
[30:29]and they do good deeds will will take care of them they'll
[30:32]have good reward and will speak softly with them that speaks softly
[30:36]to them is also important Allah subhana WA Ta'ala tells us in
[30:47]the Holy Quran is Malaga menorah he odor o Allah sabili Arabic
[30:51]a bell Hekmati one more avital hasana waddell hability he hacen there
[30:57]are three modes that Allah subhana WA Ta'ala tells us about in
[31:03]the Quran for effective invitation to invite people to the path of
[31:08]Allah you want to help people come to the path of truth
[31:12]well what do I do suppose you have a friend who's a
[31:26]Shia by name at least but does not come to mosque may
[31:30]not pray may not wear the hijab might attend parties might listen
[31:36]to music you want to help them out you want to show
[31:41]them how beautiful this religion is well what do you do Allah
[31:45]subhana Allah gives three modes of communication the third mode which I
[31:50]won't spend much time to on it's the mode of G dial
[31:55]G that means discussion argumentative you use that mode with people who
[31:59]arguments you know argue against you people who come to argue some
[32:03]people want to discuss not to learn but rather just to argue
[32:11]with those individuals Allah says argue with them but kindly bility Hiaasen
[32:17]how so for example let me let me give you this example
[32:22]when the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ala was talking about Islam in
[32:28]Mecca preaching people to believe in allah subhana wa ta'ala one of
[32:32]the things he mentioned to people is that there will be a
[32:36]day of resurrection when you guys will be resurrected alive a man
[32:40]by the name of obey obey went and to a graveyard he
[32:47]dug an old bone from the graveyard old he came to the
[32:53]prophet sallallaahu ali and he called him by his name he says
[32:55]deal claim you see this bone then he dusted it if you
[32:59]want to crush the bone became like dust and he blew it
[33:01]in the in the prophets face he said do you claim that
[33:07]your God can revive this bone again when it's dusty a verse
[33:11]was revealed in the Quran in surat yaseen allah says bismillahi wobba
[33:17]wobba lana Matalin when I see a helper Allah may your healer
[33:21]Obama we're here a meme oh you're here already and Shalimar what
[33:27]we could help an ally he gave us an example and he
[33:30]forgot about his own creation he tells us who can revive these
[33:40]dusty bones well say in response ya rasulallah tell him the one
[33:44]who created the first time from nothing without anything can also create
[33:48]it again without anything interestingly just to make it clear you know
[33:56]a bit here the kebab of Mecca then unbelievers of Mecca they
[34:03]used to believe in the existence of a god or an tells
[34:06]us Suleiman subhanAllah says while a NCL tom Angela Kazama watch a
[34:13]while autoplay Allah Allah if you ask him who created the heavens
[34:16]and the earth they will say allotted so they approved of the
[34:20]existence of that deity Allah their problem however as they created the
[34:26]associates with allah subhanaw taala these idols this idol will get us
[34:34]closer to allah if we want sustenance physical for example this idol
[34:37]if we need rain this Idol if we need for example Sun
[34:42]and so on so forth they created all these idols without any
[34:45]proof Allah did not tell them take these idols to get you
[34:48]closer to me he didn't say anything they just created these idols
[34:53]but they did have if we make all you guys know what
[34:57]a precipitate is precipitate or is that too technical too much chemistry
[35:01]you know precipitate you know that they had some background you know
[35:05]background information from the believe in allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala from Ismael prophet
[35:10]Ismail used to live there you know many centuries ago so from
[35:16]the belief from that monotheistic belief it was passed on generation after
[35:19]generation but then they deviated so they did have some concepts you
[35:26]know there is a God there is a creator that's why Quran
[35:27]says if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth
[35:29]okay Allah created them so they don't have a problem in the
[35:34]exist Oh God even it is narrated in the hadith in history
[35:37]when Mecca was conquered when Mecca came into the control of Muslims
[35:42]and the father of Muhammad Navy Sophia Anna's father Sophia Abu Sufyan
[35:48]Abu Sufyan was brought he came to the prophet sallallaahu Ali the
[35:52]Prophet told him say la ilaha illallah and say that I am
[36:00]The Messenger of Allah Abu sofyan told him to say that there
[36:02]is no god but Allah I don't have a problem with that
[36:05]you know I don't have a problem to be honest with you
[36:09]but to say that you are the Messenger of Allah that's too
[36:12]tough it's hard to confess hard to say so so his problem
[36:18]was not that the existence of Allah he had a problem with
[36:20]the prophet sallallaahu while he just could not believe in the Prophet
[36:23]as a prophet that he couldn't believe in and I'll tell you
[36:27]why again those of you who are a bit older here one
[36:29]of the biggest problem we had with rasulullah salallahu alaihe wa then
[36:40]all their statuses will be kept aside abu jahal abu jahal who
[36:44]was one of the heads of kuwait one of the leaders of
[36:49]pêche comes to rasulullah sallallahu aleyhi tells him and he calls him
[36:54]by his first name he tells him you claim that bilal Balad
[36:56]the black slave the African slave from Ethiopia that Bilal who has
[37:02]the slave of abu jahal but then the prophets freed him Bilal
[37:05]my slave and I are equal how could that be how could
[37:11]bilal be an equal to me I am one from the heads
[37:16]of flesh I'm wealthy I'm rich I'm an Arab this guy and
[37:19]so on and so forth the Prophet looked at him and said
[37:22]no that's not true you're not equal really we're not equal it's
[37:32]like yeah he is much better than you he's a Muslim you're
[37:35]not a Muslim so who cares about your wealth and your Arab
[37:40]and your whatever who cares about all that stuff he's a Muslim
[37:43]he's among men he's a believer he's better than you but that
[37:47]was the problem they couldn't believe they couldn't they came to the
[37:50]Prophet who H came to the prophet sallallaahu I let all them
[37:55]told the Prophet make Islam a club a club for the rich
[37:57]you know you make it that way we all believe in you
[38:02]we will all believe in you just make it a club a
[38:05]club for the wealthy you see sometimes there are some golf clubs
[38:07]you guys have them here in the US oh yeah you president
[38:10]has a whole bunch of them that's right yeah you know some
[38:13]of those golf clubs that you have to pay like for example
[38:17]one hundred thousand dollar membership two hundred sometimes even they go up
[38:20]higher they can go up to a million even sometimes even more
[38:23]to become a member of that particular Golf Club so only the
[38:26]wealthy can have access to that Club this is what they wanted
[38:32]of Islam the problem one of the biggest problems they had with
[38:35]a prophet is if they believed in him all their statuses will
[38:40]be shoved aside they could not because of their arrogance there was
[38:43]a problem that they had so what I'm saying is brothers and
[38:46]sisters those individuals who sometimes argue with rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa they
[38:54]argue about religion they argue allah subhana wa ta'ala then tells the
[38:59]Prophet argue back stop them in their truck they believed in Allah
[39:05]they had that belief in Allah so Allah told them well the
[39:09]one who created you from nothing or from without anything the one
[39:13]who created you without anything he can also recreate you without anything
[39:19]so that's an asset that's called Judah that's an argumentative discussion where
[39:23]you stop the opponent on their tracks as they say it okay
[39:29]but that you do it gently kindly calmly and that's something important
[39:33]brothers and sisters speaking of communication whenever you are in a discussion
[39:40]remember this remember this whenever you are in a discussion never lose
[39:47]your calm never get angry the minute you lose your calm you
[39:53]lose your temper your lost argument even if you were right so
[39:59]you always have to income and that's actually a style some of
[40:02]your opponent's those are smart they're good debaters what they'll try to
[40:06]do to you is they'll try to instigate you they're trying to
[40:09]get you mad once you get mad they've won the argument even
[40:12]if they're not right so you always have to be smarter and
[40:18]learn to remain calm okay so that's one mode another mode the
[40:21]Quran describes Quran says Odori la subida applicable hekimae hekimae means logic
[40:27]logical you come to the individual you say listen Allah subhana WA
[40:33]Ta'ala created us how should you be thanking your Creator I mean
[40:38]think about it your own parents don't you love your parents yes
[40:44]I love my parents well don't you respect your parents yes of
[40:48]course I respect my parents I love them well then why don't
[40:51]you take care of them why don't you love allah subhana wa
[40:59]ta'ala the one who created you she takes care of you she
[41:02]does yes that's it she's pretty good there so that's an important
[41:11]logical discussion that kind of discussion a logical argument is usually used
[41:17]with individuals who have some sense of a logic if you have
[41:20]a president who has no logic then it's quite difficult to discuss
[41:24]logic with someone who has no logic so you need to discuss
[41:29]it with someone who understands who has some logic behind him and
[41:33]that's why that kind of mode is usually used with the real
[41:35]Emma with his colors and not necessarily scholars like you know of
[41:38]religion scholars remember a few nights ago when I mentioned about the
[41:43]existence of Allah the debate I had with the atheist a professor
[41:46]who was a professor of philosophy who understood logic so I used
[41:49]a clear little purely logical argument and I won the debate I
[41:54]won the argument because purely logical and because he's a man who
[41:57]understands logic it worked clearly so that's a good mode to discuss
[42:02]with people a logical argument logically however some people logic does not
[42:10]work with them you tell them for example why do you listen
[42:12]to music don't you know music is Haram I know you know
[42:16]this alleged Eenie may Allah guide me why don't you have a
[42:19]job don't you know her job is watch it yes I know
[42:20]but celaya DD no Allah may be guide me well why do
[42:24]you look at her on things don't you know it's Haram yes
[42:28]Alya Dini why do you not respect your parents I mean do
[42:30]you not love them yes I love my parents well why don't
[42:33]you respect them I don't know you know Alya Dini you know
[42:39]Allah guides me Allah may Allah forgive me logic doesn't work well
[42:42]then what what works Allah says Allah Sevilla applicable hikmah logic one
[42:46]more eval has a net mahasin and literally means good at management
[42:50]but what does good admonishment mean some of the commentators of the
[42:56]quran they say don't use logic then what do I use emotions
[43:00]emotions what do you mean well somebody who doesn't pray for example
[43:11]and you just spoken to him many times about salat and he
[43:16]does still doesn't pray that's someone one day loses a loved a
[43:20]loved one let's say he loses a brother for god forbid let's
[43:25]say for example he loses a brother whom he loved really much
[43:28]now he attends the brother's funeral and he sees his brother being
[43:32]buried in the sand and that's when he starts crying now he's
[43:40]become emotional now and you stand next to him and you say
[43:43]well isn't it time now that you start praying yours a lot
[43:51]today it's your brother tomorrow it will be you what are you
[43:55]gonna say when you go down there now he's crying is emotional
[44:01]and he'll be here you know maybe you're right maybe you're right
[44:05]that's what I should be doing and so you've used a purely
[44:08]emotional argument it's no logic behind it although there may be some
[44:13]logic to it but you've used the most you capitalized on the
[44:18]emotions emotions are very strong they're much stronger than logic that's one
[44:23]of the reasons why a little bait alayhim as-salam capitalize on emotions
[44:29]when it comes to imam and for saying alehissalaam hello Bates recommend
[44:33]to us to attend the modulus of Imam al-hussein alehissalaam to shed
[44:37]our tears for Imam al-hussein to cry if we can't cry the
[44:42]hadith says pretend to cry pretend use your emotions because emotions are
[44:48]very powerful many people who attend the modulus usually when they listen
[44:54]to the Messiah above elevate the Messiah the tragedies the eulogies and
[44:58]they start crying many people wake up they say you know what
[45:03]what have I been doing my whole life it's time for me
[45:07]to wake up based on emotions so sometimes brothers and sisters when
[45:11]you discuss with somebody logic is good you use a logical argument
[45:15]if that does not work then you may want to use an
[45:20]emotional argument touch them under the soft spot as they say that's
[45:24]how you can invite people to the path of Allah subhana WA
[45:27]Ta'ala you have a friend who does not come to mosque you
[45:29]tell them you know a little better for example you know or
[45:34]last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan tomorrow is going
[45:36]to be the last Thursday night of this holy month of Ramadan
[45:41]a huge night a blessed night the last Thursday night we have
[45:44]the last Friday of this holy month coming up a blessed day
[45:48]a great day what do you call your friend up and say
[45:54]you know what you remember our friend from last year yes he's
[45:56]no longer with us yes well how do we know if we're
[46:01]going to be here next year so why don't you join us
[46:02]Thursday night tomorrow you know what I'm going to the mosque why
[46:07]don't you join me or you tell them for example it's Thursday
[46:10]night how about you join me and let's recite you know and
[46:17]Majlis so al-fatiha for yo murph ameen maybe your mother will really
[46:19]enjoy it in her grave or your father will enjoy it in
[46:21]her great and his grave something along these lines and I'm just
[46:27]giving examples here where use a emotional argument to try to convince
[46:31]people to the path of Haqq that's something we also learn from
[46:33]the logname when he says we will speak to people gently softly
[46:41]kindly he does not argue with people he does not yell at
[46:44]people he does not shout at them he speaks gently and kindly
[46:48]if you ever go for example to the washroom and you'll find
[46:51]a person doing waddle and accurately don't yell at them especially if
[46:57]it's a child what are you doing well though really what is
[47:01]this rule all your salat is battle just take it easy do
[47:05]it easy on the guy or the lady to let you know
[47:09]what how about if you observe me how to do although let
[47:13]me show you how I do although so we can learn or
[47:16]you can tell them for example how about if we have a
[47:19]world competition so let's bring some children and let them all do
[47:23]although will demonstrate to you how to do with all and you
[47:26]guys all can learn how to do although and you do a
[47:28]competition in a very kind manner softly gently a lady does not
[47:36]wear hijab talk to her kindly gently don't tell her you're gonna
[47:40]go to Jahannam you will burn in Jahannam the fire is gonna
[47:45]eat you he's gonna chew you a choice choice choice choice take
[47:46]it easy take it easy on the lady Yani yes she's not
[47:51]wearing hijab but explain it turn a gentle way in a kind
[47:54]way in a soft way you want to attract people to religion
[47:58]you don't want to drive them away from religion so always be
[48:02]kind be respectful speak gently speak softly use the five modes the
[48:10]five Cs for effective communication use the mode of logic or emotion
[48:14]if they argue back then you want to use the argumentative style
[48:18]where what kindness gently you stop them in their tracks that's some
[48:25]of the things we learned from the hog nein there is another
[48:27]lesson that we would like to learn from the nine that we
[48:32]will touch upon insha'Allah tomorrow Allah gives us no fear and that
[48:37]is the idea of the development of civilizations these primitive people that
[48:42]they'll cognate met who did not have anything to protect them from
[48:45]the Sun maybe they did not even know how to wear clothes
[48:48]they did not know how to well how did then civilization unfold
[48:52]what happened I'll mention one interesting theory that I have about it
[48:56]and the shala we'll talk about it tomorrow so if you want
[48:59]to find out what the theory is come tomorrow insha'Allah and we'll
[49:02]discuss and shall about that theory to more of a lakh exhaust
[49:06]elfia to do so in the meanwhile now let's raise our hands
[49:08]for the ah and we ask Allah on this knife to accept
[49:14]our caramel all over him in a shaytan al rajim bismillah ar-rahman
