[3:56]brothers when your sisters salaam alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh it's a pleasure to
[4:05]be back here amongst you again although i think this is my
[4:09]first time spending part of the holy month of ramadan in this
[4:16]city which everything is different in here in all aspects in retrospect
[4:20]you know the city is so lively things are just ongoing and
[4:23]just everything is different here but inshallah if Allah gives us no
[4:27]fear over the next couple or so weeks that we will be
[4:35]having together the schedule will be the discussion mainly will concentrate around
[4:42]the story of a personality that appears only once in the Holy
[4:48]Quran by once I mean in only one of its chapters yet
[4:54]there is some description about this personality some of the adventures that
[5:00]this personality went through yet there isn't much discussion about who he
[5:06]was what he did and this personality is according to the Holy
[5:11]Quran full of nain nain which literally translates as the man with
[5:22]the two horns while we discuss insha allah the story of dhul-qarnain
[5:27]as it appears in surah till calf will try to shed some
[5:30]light about some of the lessons that we would learn from this
[5:37]story in our lives now we will also come across the time
[5:44]of the Shahada of imam ali salawatullahi wa salamu alayh and so
[5:48]we will take a break from the discussion about the nine for
[5:51]about three nights on the eve of the 19th the 20th and
[5:57]the 21st of the holy month where we'll dedicate these three nights
[6:03]for Imam Ali Salaam allaha la learning about some of his history
[6:07]and then we have one night which is the 23rd night of
[6:13]the holy month of Ramadan which is lailatul Qatar the third night
[6:16]of lailatul God also will dedicate that night also for lailatul Qatar
[6:19]so this takes about four nights away from us leaving us approximately
[6:23]with about eight to nine nights give or take to discuss the
[6:29]story of the leg nine so that will be kind of our
[6:30]schedule and sha Allah over the next two or so weeks if
[6:34]Allah gives us hope we have to do so so tonight insha'Allah
[6:39]we will commence our discussion about dhul-qarnayn and the verses in Surat
[6:47]al-kahf that talk about him and then towards the end we will
[6:50]also try to shed some light about the Battle of bedder which
[6:55]took place on the 17th day of the holy month of Ramadan
[7:00]that was the first battle in Islam so try to kind of
[7:04]wrap up with that tonight if Allah gives us topic tomorrow insha'Allah
[7:08]we'll continue with the struggle cognate then as I said three nights
[7:11]off we go back to the cognate one night off and then
[7:16]we continue towards him until the end of the month so now
[7:19]you have some idea about what we will be discussing if Allah
[7:22]gives us no fear to do so before I get into the
[7:27]discussion of or about dhul-qarnayn when it comes to history there are
[7:33]ideas about how should we approach history for example there is a
[7:39]famous historian by the name of Butterfield he came up with a
[7:45]preposition suggesting that a historian should not write or give any moral
[7:55]implications when discussing history in other words all the historians job is
[8:04]to relate what happened in history the events and we leave it
[8:08]up to the reader when you are reading that history you then
[8:12]come up with your judgment about what happened who was right who
[8:16]was wrong according to him a historians job is not to impose
[8:25]his beliefs his ideologies or her ideologies to their reader and that's
[8:32]what they call keeping out the moral tone of history so that's
[8:37]one example about the approach towards reading history other historians however including
[8:45]a one recent contemporary one from the University of Illinois in Chicago
[8:48]James Kraft however he writes in one of his papers that history
[8:56]as a historian you have to give your moral judgement to what
[9:00]happened in history so when we read when we learn about history
[9:06]we have to analyze history it's not just a matter of relaying
[9:09]it to the people but rather we need to really analyze it
[9:15]go through it discuss it and figure out who was right who
[9:18]was wrong why where events done so that we can learn from
[9:23]them and interestingly James craft himself suggests that when it came to
[9:30]Butterfield himself the man who suggested that we should keep morality out
[9:36]of historian history's portrayal he himself fell victim a couple of times
[9:45]to his own problems or his own notion where he himself sometimes
[9:49]suggested some moral tones and used some moral words towards his portrayal
[9:54]of some turn aspects of the history that he was portraying so
[9:59]nonetheless it seems that when we take a look at history it
[10:06]is important to do so in addition to just reading it we
[10:08]need to analyze it we need to characterize it we need to
[10:14]go through it reflect opponent learn from it that's why you find
[10:17]in many of the major universities in the world today if not
[10:20]all of them they all have a Department of history and there
[10:25]are historians who read that history analyzed the history and try to
[10:30]derive lessons from history so it's a very important aspect that we
[10:33]have to learn about the Holy Quran also contains some history the
[10:41]Holy Quran tells us lessons about things that happened in the past
[10:45]when it came to prophet musa peace be upon him and the
[10:48]pharaoh when it came to prophet ibrahim alayhis salam other stories so
[10:55]there are some historical notions or historical facts in the quran or
[11:03]on however does give some what we may call moral analysis for
[11:08]example when it comes to firown' one of the examples used in
[11:16]the quran about him and his followers in suet is olaf allah
[11:20]subhana WA Ta'ala says first Africa Ummah who for Aparo n Nam
[11:25]Cano Bauman phosphine he fooled his people so they obeyed him they
[11:30]followed him the Pharaoh indeed they were transgressors that suggests to us
[11:37]that allah subhana wa ta'ala is condemning their act in following the
[11:43]pharaoh suggesting to us we should analyze the history that happened between
[11:49]prophet musa alehsalaam and the pharaoh and learn from it and learn
[11:54]which paths to take someone was right and the other one was
[12:00]not in surat al Mehsud bismillah r-rahman r-rahim Temba ta da ABI
[12:06]Lahab in a tab tradition to the hands of Abu Lahab who
[12:12]was the prophets uncle you know and his wife Allah has telling
[12:16]us with the vocabulary with the use of the verbs have bet
[12:22]that do not follow that example it's a bad example in another
[12:26]ayah in some other stories about della Palma Valley mean away be
[12:32]those people who are oppressors tyrants so we find in numr examples
[12:38]and accounts and the holyoke of odd allah subhana wa ta'ala when
[12:43]he uses history Allah is trying to teach us lessons about what
[12:48]happens one thing interesting about the stories of the Quran however they're
[12:55]not factual they're real they're things that have happened in the past
[13:01]they are things which we can relate to we're dealing with real
[13:06]humans and not fictitious not fiction but it's real and that's important
[13:13]because we then have a rich and abundant history consisting of all
[13:23]those people who are found in the Holy Quran who were real
[13:29]people in addition as Muslims we have the history of rasulullah sallallahu
[13:33]alayhi wa ala in addition as followers of ahlulbayt alayhi wa sallam
[13:38]we also have the history of the muscle mean salawatullahi wa sallam
[13:41]wali him ajma'in and this is something very important because it gives
[13:46]us a wealth of role models that we can learn from and
[13:53]follow we do not need to create fictional characters to learn from
[13:58]and to derive lessons from them let me share this example with
[14:05]you many years ago when I was doing my undergraduate degree and
[14:09]in the class of English at the University we were studying a
[14:15]play by Shakespeare called Hamlet hey guys familiar with Hamlet remember that
[14:21]to be or not to be guy you know whether tis nobler
[14:23]in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
[14:25]and that that guy you know that that person so interestingly you
[14:31]know we're learning about Hamlet and whatever you know the problems that
[14:34]Hamlet had you know his father died when he was young and
[14:37]created problems its mother remarried so on so forth you guys are
[14:44]familiar those of you who've read the play one day I was
[14:46]talking to the instructor of the classroom and they were saying you
[14:50]know it's quite interesting but why do we invest so much time
[14:55]learning about Hamlet you know what was Hamlet thinking for example at
[14:58]that instant you know when he committed this or when he did
[15:00]this what was going on through his mind well it's fiction I
[15:05]mean Hamlet is not even real you're asking me what was going
[15:08]through Hamlet's mind I mean he's a fictional character for God say
[15:12]I mean you can tell I'm a scientist here with all the
[15:14]respect to humanitarians you know people do humanities I I have a
[15:18]lot of respect for them of course because historians are amongst them
[15:21]but nonetheless sometimes they just invest a lot of time studying what
[15:26]was Macbeth thinking about when he was doing this what was Hamlet
[15:30]thinking about winning so one day I was having this conversation with
[15:33]with the instructor of the class and I was saying you know
[15:36]you're asking us all these interesting questions you know and I used
[15:42]the adjective interesting you know in some interesting ways but you know
[15:47]so you're asking us all these interesting questions about what was going
[15:51]through the mind of Hamlet I mean he's a fictional character for
[15:54]God's sake I mean it's not even real no he didn't even
[15:57]have a mind because it's fiction so she said what are you
[16:04]talking about don't say that it's like as if I offended her
[16:09]she says do you know as of today this was well some
[16:18]time ago she says as of today there are 3,500 research papers
[16:24]in universities people who've done research people who do master's degree PhD
[16:30]degrees 3,500 research papers written on Hamlet on Hamlet and I'm like
[16:36]are you serious I mean Hamlet is not even real is fiction
[16:40]if you tell me there are 3500 research papers written on Shakespeare
[16:47]I can understand that at least he was real the man was
[16:49]a genius you know as a poet you know he made a
[16:52]lot of contributions I guess to the English literature so okay understandable
[16:56]people cannot study the life of Shakespeare what he was what was
[16:59]Shakespeare thinking about when he wrote Hamlet at least that's that I
[17:07]can digest maybe but 3500 research papers written about a fictional character
[17:14]they asked what do people research on Hamlet so she's like no
[17:20]we need to really search and study about Hamlet what events transpired
[17:25]in Hamlet's life that made him go through the difficulties and the
[17:30]problems that he went through these are lessons we can learn from
[17:39]and implement them in real societies here that we learn from a
[17:46]fictional character created by a poet and we derive lesson from that
[17:50]fictional character and the life of that fictional character so that we
[17:59]can implement them in the real society nothing interesting 3500 research papers
[18:06]on a fictional character how many papers do we have written on
[18:13]Fatima to Zara Ali has Sarah how many papers do we have
[18:16]written on a mammal media Jalal Allah Allah Hafiz Imam he's alive
[18:22]he's with us right now those were real people they were not
[18:30]fiction in fact Allah says they were the best of Allah's creation
[18:32]how many papers do we have written about the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu
[18:37]aleyhi wa about imam ali salam on llaha la how did they
[18:48]govern what was the governorship system of the prophets of Allah Allahu
[18:52]Allah and that of Imam Ali how did they govern their societies
[18:54]that's something interesting to learn about because it's real it's something that
[18:58]is not fictional it's something that happened in society people lived at
[19:04]peace in that society for example at the time of the Prophet
[19:07]sallallahu alayhi wa al and medina towards the end of his life
[19:14]people were in such peace that people did not need to lock
[19:18]their stores there were no thieves no thieves well how did he
[19:22]manage to achieve that what did he do this is not fiction
[19:27]it's real so we need to study this this is something worth
[19:32]of studying and that's something in sha allah we will shed some
[19:35]light on in sha allah allah gives a stealthy about one of
[19:37]the aspects on imam ali salam ala highly how he handled poverty
[19:42]and how he dealt with poverty because there's a lot of discussion
[19:45]these days that we would like to eradicate poverty well we have
[19:50]a system in history that eradicated poverty how did it work what
[19:54]did he do see this was something that's something interesting because that's
[20:00]real that's not fiction and that's answers also the question that I
[20:05]get asked many times at different places I get told chick you
[20:09]know you're telling us that we need to follow role models such
[20:13]as the prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa as Fatima to Sahara Ali
[20:16]has said you talk to me about the hijab of a say
[20:20]default on alehissalaam the hijab over say the zainab salam alayka the
[20:24]the life of a seder Khadija Salam Allahu alaihi you talk to
[20:27]me about the great lives of the Imams alayhi wassalam those however
[20:32]were people who lived 1,400 years ago give or take or twelve
[20:37]hundred years ago and now we live in this century you're talking
[20:42]to me for example about the hijab over say the Sahara alehissalaam
[20:46]from 1400 years ago well in her days there were no Calvin
[20:51]Klein Versace banana Gabbana whatever all those things didn't exist so how
[21:02]do you relate it well I tell them for God's sake if
[21:07]researchers are studying the life of a fictional character that was created
[21:14]400 years ago give or take four hundred years ago he was
[21:20]created by a mind of a poet and they're learning from his
[21:26]life to derive lessons in the real world don't tell me that
[21:29]we can go back sixteen or fourteen hundred years ago and learn
[21:33]from the life of a real character like a say Desiro alehissalaam
[21:36]and the job of a say Dada ha and a job over
[21:40]say the zeyneb and the life of a sailor Khadija and the
[21:41]life of Ahlul Bayt alehissalaam when in fact the Quran tells us
[21:47]they are your role models locket cannula comfy rasool allahö swattin hasan
[21:51]and the example of the Prophet and the Messenger of God is
[21:54]a role model for you people when you say that people like
[22:02]oh okay yeah okay the guys I ask people I mean how
[22:06]many of you guys those of you in universities you guys studied
[22:09]Hamlet have you said in Macbeth steady dog go go talk to
[22:14]your teacher I mean maybe you can update my numbers you know
[22:17]Batman back then there were 3,500 research papers I don't know what
[22:20]what they're at right now and people who invest their PhDs to
[22:24]do a PhD you need like three four or five years of
[22:27]your life you dedicate to a fictional character studying a fictional character
[22:32]I mean I respected I respected I have great respect for it
[22:39]because it's something to learn but I come back and say if
[22:43]that's how much time is invested on studying a fictional character then
[22:47]why not we invest the time to learn about the whole vitalica
[22:55]Mesilla you know interestingly as of today as of today in the
[23:00]English world in the English academic world in universities there is not
[23:07]a single major work on natural balada for example natural Bulava which
[23:14]is the words and the sermons of imam ali salam ala ala
[23:18]there isn't one single major work unnatural Bulava papers maybe here or
[23:24]there so interestingly a fictional character receives 30 500 research papers whereas
[23:32]the words of Imam Ali's Alabama Holly don't receive any attention or
[23:37]very very little attention see that's where we need to invest time
[23:42]and that's one of the reasons we will be taking a look
[23:46]at the story of the logname it's a story that comes from
[23:49]the Quran about a character who is real he's not fictional and
[23:53]therefore the things he did can really give us lessons about things
[24:00]we can implement in our life because the Quran was not only
[24:04]written 1,400 years ago it's written for eternity until the day of
[24:09]judgment at least so speaking of dhul-qarnayn very briefly the ayah begins
[24:17]in verse number 83 surat al-kahf smilla rahman al rahim why as
[24:24]a loon occur on Delco name and they ask you about gog
[24:31]9 who's you they ask you who's you huh you guys with
[24:41]me here hello we have people here who's you allah i'm eduardo
[24:47]muhammad long what's wrong with you salah whathe brothers and sisters you
[24:51]know this is this is not very encouraging when the first night
[24:53]you know I don't know anything let's write this against allah allah
[24:56]muhammad wa ala muhammad salla i do i do my god that's
[25:01]a little bit more encouraging here you know the prophet sallallaahu Alice
[25:05]says our prophet says whenever my name is mentioned raise your voice
[25:09]loudly by saying Vassallo odd because the and hood alpha in to
[25:16]the Heavenly Father I mean a little it removes hypocrisy from the
[25:20]heart so salli ala muhammad wa ala muhammad okay and that was
[25:28]not supposed to be a tricky questions my brother and sisters they
[25:31]ask you about the pugna in you is referring to the prophet
[25:37]sallallaahu oil so who was asking that's an interesting question someone is
[25:41]asking a group of people are asking where's Aluna k and l
[25:44]canaan who's asking it is said that the non-believers of Croatia of
[25:53]Mecca than unbelievers when the prophet sallallaahu wallace started preaching about islam
[25:57]question trivia question again maybe i don't know if the English how
[26:02]old was our prophet when he started preaching or when he received
[26:08]the message I sent to masha'Allah very good mashallah good okay 40
[26:11]years old so when the prophet sallallaahu while it was 40 years
[26:15]old and he started preaching or talking about the religion of Islam
[26:23]okay he's got police got agitated they tried different tactics some of
[26:27]them failed in fact all of them failed one of the tactics
[26:30]they tried was this they said you know what if this guy
[26:35]claims that he knows things which people don't know let's test him
[26:39]maybe we can humiliate him well how do we do this let's
[26:42]go to people of the book Hubble kitab or al kitab the
[26:48]people of the book christians jews let's go to them unless ask
[26:51]them about some stories that are found in their books and they
[26:56]will teach us and we can go back and ask the Prophet
[26:58]to test him and if he can't answer perfect we just humiliated
[27:03]him great so they actually travel at lengths to meet with some
[27:10]people of the people of the book and they talk to them
[27:15]they say to them you know give us some questions that we
[27:16]can ask this prophet of ours you know the man who claims
[27:20]to be a prophet so we can humiliate him give us some
[27:25]questions they say well okay fine ask him about a group of
[27:28]people who slept in a cave and they woke up sometime later
[27:36]okay good okay ask him about boob he said okay but what
[27:41]is the story of the people who slept in the cave tell
[27:45]us I mean if he answers how do we know he's telling
[27:46]us what's right or what's wrong we don't know what the story
[27:49]of the people of the cave so they taught them they told
[27:51]them what the story of us hobbled can the people of the
[27:55]cave okay according to what was written in the scripture so okay
[28:00]well what else said well ask him about a king who ruled
[28:06]the East and the West okay well what is the story of
[28:10]this king who ruled the east and the West so they told
[28:12]them this is the story that's found in the Torah okay well
[28:18]what else the third question some commentators of the Quran they differ
[28:24]on they said it was either about the story of the scholar
[28:28]home prophet musa alayhis salam was asked to follow according to the
[28:32]quran also instructed calf moosa aleihsalaam was asked to follow some scholar
[28:36]his name is not mentioned in the quran but the commentators say
[28:41]it was algebra alehissalaam the Prophet algebra the story is mentioned in
[28:45]the Quran either that or the question was asked him about what
[28:50]is the soul of what is the soul he will answer two
[28:57]of them the third one will be a very difficult one to
[29:01]answer you guys will not understand the answer so see what he
[29:08]replies back with Wes Aluna kya ho ho ho ho men Emily
[29:10]grab me huama multi-terminal me Allah Allah they ask you about the
[29:19]soul the rule say in response to their question it is a
[29:24]matter of my lord and you don't have enough knowledge to understand
[29:30]so that's what was the reply about the third question either that
[29:34]or the story of Musa and el Kabong either one but the
[29:37]first two questions was about this hubblecast the people of the cave
[29:41]and the king who ruled the east and the west so when
[29:44]it came to us Hubble keV and that's why the surah was
[29:46]revealed the name of the surah is the people of the cave
[29:49]was hotel kept the cave so the answer was given about Assad
[29:56]will care the people of the cave and when it came to
[29:59]Musa and the island he replied also in the same surah and
[30:05]when it came about the king who ruled the East and the
[30:08]West well here is the reply that we will be discussing over
[30:11]the next shall a few nights with regards to the soul that
[30:17]is inserted it's raw so if that was the third question then
[30:20]the response was you don't have enough knowledge to understand what the
[30:25]soul is either way we're not here to discuss about that's a
[30:28]separate story altogether so why as a luna candle canaan and they
[30:33]ask you about dhul-qarnayn literally it means the king or the man
[30:39]of the two horns okay we'll figure that later pulse at lo
[30:43]alaikum minho dakara say i will respond to you by reciting verses
[30:51]of the quran the quran i will recite verses of the quran
[30:54]and response to you question now interestingly the ayat beautifully says to
[31:01]us all say yah rasul allah sat at loo say a clue
[31:06]means I will I will this is a lesson for us the
[31:10]prophets of allah allahu allah could have immediately answered them because allah
[31:13]taught him but it's a lesson for us when people ask you
[31:18]a question don't immediately jump at the answer take few seconds to
[31:24]think reflect and then respond even if you know the answer even
[31:29]if you know then like the prophets already knew the answer he
[31:35]did not need time to wait but it said you know i
[31:39]will discuss with you about him I will tell you who he
[31:41]is and he started indeed it's a lesson for us whenever you're
[31:47]asked a question reflect think what is the best way to respond
[31:50]and then you go ahead and you respond now why was he
[31:56]called AG 9 is that really his name well some commentators differ
[32:00]some of them say maybe his name was but apparently that was
[32:07]an adjective a description okay well why is he called the man
[32:10]with the two horns some of them claim that he wore a
[32:15]helmet and it had two horns maybe that's a reason well that's
[32:19]one answer the second reason some people say because he took the
[32:24]horn of the east and the horn of the West he ruled
[32:28]he rolled the world from east to west and that's why he
[32:32]was called Canaan the man with the two horns a third reason
[32:41]among others they say he was a man who was a virtuous
[32:43]man he came to his people at his time and he started
[32:48]calling them inviting them to believe in Allah subhana WA Ta'ala so
[32:52]they hit him over his head which created a bump on his
[32:56]head when he kind of recovered a little bit from this bump
[33:02]he came back and again he started discussing with the people he
[33:05]didn't give up inviting them to believe in Allah and to God
[33:10]Almighty to follow their teachings of God and they hit him again
[33:14]on his head which created another bump these two bumps became known
[33:19]as the two horns quote-unquote hug named according to some of the
[33:26]commentators this was an apply given by Imam Ali Saddam llaha la
[33:29]and Imam Ali when he was asked about dhul-qarnayn why he was
[33:35]called alkaline he said because he had two bumps he was hit
[33:37]twice on his head what he committed and there is amongst you
[33:42]a man who's like him referring to himself imam ali salam ala
[33:46]hele was also hit twice on his head once do you remember
[33:49]when in which battle conduct I sent him the Battle of the
[33:56]trenches by armed with no head he hit him once on his
[34:00]head and the second time is when no not high but high
[34:02]bother he was not touched in clay bug in message of Kufa
[34:06]when he was killed so da bobba Holly that was the second
[34:10]time so that was the second time and hence imam ali saying
[34:18]refika mythili there is a one right now amongst you a man
[34:20]living amongst you who's just like him he will also be hit
[34:24]twice on his head what he is calling you to believe in
[34:25]allah subhana wa ta'ala and believe in the message of allah subhanahu
[34:31]wa'ta'ala so that was his response so these are among the theories
[34:34]there are others but we'll leave it for that for now the
[34:36]quran however did not mention why he was called the Ignite so
[34:40]in essence it's not really so important we should not concentrate so
[34:44]much time as to why was he called Kulkarni but that's their
[34:49]second question commentators asked as well maybe that's why he was called
[34:58]nain maybe he had a horn you know two horns helmet with
[35:00]two horns maybe he ruled the horn of the East the West
[35:03]that's another reason maybe he was hit twice on his head had
[35:10]couple of bumps okay but who was he who was the country
[35:12]well to find out come back tomorrow Shahla more inshallah we'll discuss
[35:22]about some of the theories about who was the colony so we
[35:29]can learn about this character even then even then these are all
[35:35]theories we'll start with that if Allah gives us tell fayek and
[35:41]then we'll jump into some very important thing about him Allah tells
[35:47]us about this man that Allah taught him the means of doing
[35:52]things the ways he showed him the way how to do things
[35:58]that's quite interesting that's what we would like to focus on insha'Allah
[36:04]tomorrow Allah gives us no field but imam ali saddam allaha la
[36:07]the hero the man who is like the Canaan as he himself
[36:13]claims and says that what he commits Allah and there's amongst you
[36:17]a man who is like Vulcanian who was beaten twice on his
[36:20]head when he invites people to the path of Islam he was
[36:26]also the hero of the Battle of better the Battle of badger
[36:30]was the first battle to take place in Islam the Muslims as
[36:35]long as they were in Mecca they were ordered not to engage
[36:38]in combat the environment the climate their numbers was not enough for
[36:45]them to defend themselves so they were beaten they were oppressed they
[36:51]were killed persecuted executed but they were patient until they emigrated to
[36:59]Medina when they came to Medina a verse was later revealed bismillah
[37:03]r-rahman r-rahim o Dina little Aveda you caught a luna banana home
[37:07]bully mu1 Allah Allah Allah him la pedir permission has been given
[37:11]to those who have been fought against that they have been oppressed
[37:16]and surely Allah subhana WA Ta'ala is capable of making them victorious
[37:24]that ayah is extremely important in surah al-hajj because what does the
[37:28]is a permission has been given to those who have been fought
[37:33]against not fighting what does that tell you why did the Muslims
[37:39]fight they were attacked they were attacked Muslims fought in defense and
[37:49]therefore all the prophets Wars all of them we're in defense the
[37:57]Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa salam ala muhammad sallah never initiated war
[38:09]he was either attacked he had to defend or they had a
[38:13]treaty they had a treaty with a group of people and they
[38:19]violated the terms of the treaty for example in the year six
[38:21]after hijra the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa li made the treaty with
[38:25]Koresh with Mecca the people of Mecca became known as the treaty
[38:32]of hudaibiya so they made the treaty and among the terms that
[38:37]they would not kill each other but sometime later - finds a
[38:43]group of Muslims by themselves unarmed attacks them kills them so now
[38:48]they violated the terms of the treaty as a consequence the prophet
[38:52]sallallaahu one in the year 8 after hijra took an army and
[38:59]went over to mecca because they violated the terms of their treaty
[39:03]and they killed and attacked Muslims so the Prophet again in defense
[39:06]but even then look at the greatness of the Prophet Allah muhuali
[39:10]he when he arrives at the gate of Mecca or the borders
[39:17]of Mecca those were the people who had fought against him for
[39:23]more than twenty years 20 years they fought against him they tried
[39:27]to kill him they killed some of his dearest companions they killed
[39:34]his uncle Hamza they killed his cousin obey their in the Battle
[39:37]of better he was killed in the Battle of Beddoe so they
[39:39]killed his dearest companion some of his relatives his uncle they fought
[39:46]against him now after more than twenty years the profit becomes victorious
[39:50]and he comes back the prophet sallallaahu brings an army of about
[39:56]ten thousand men he tells them at night I want each and
[40:03]every one of you people to raise fire back in those days
[40:07]they used to count the number of people fighters by counting the
[40:12]fires because out of every let's say 10 people you need maybe
[40:14]one fire one torch give or take so if you have let's
[40:18]say a hundred torches they'll multiply that by ten give or take
[40:23]that's roughly speaking how they used to calculate well the prophet sallallaahu
[40:26]a lot is army he said I want each and every one
[40:32]of you to light a torch so what happened as Koresh sent
[40:35]their spies to see can we face them can we fight them
[40:40]at night they go this you know speculate how many people are
[40:43]there and what do they see a sea of fire we multiply
[40:49]that by 10 good lord we have a huge army there is
[40:53]no chance for us to stand against them what a genius tactic
[40:58]by the Prophet Allah Mahalo who had and what a peaceful tactic
[41:03]by the Prophet Solomon you are OAH then sends their men to
[41:06]the Prophet and say you know what we're laying down a repent
[41:08]weapons we're not fighting when I get again G engage in war
[41:13]so the prophet sallallaahu Hollywood sends one of his companions by steam
[41:19]of sad sad Nevada so it goes to Mecca and he says
[41:27]today is the day of punishment today is the day of revenge
[41:29]we're gonna take you all guys as prisoners when the news reaches
[41:34]the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa a prophet says what is this that's
[41:37]not right this is not true he says Imam Ali Ali you
[41:43]go you go and you fix the situation so he mama daddy
[41:45]Salam came and said today is the day of mercy day one
[41:49]when everyone will be protected any money does a very smart thing
[41:53]then he gives the banner to the son of south dice he
[41:56]says dice you take the banner now like father like son you
[41:59]know there's no difference but this is the slogan you use today
[42:04]is the day of mercy not the day of revenge and indeed
[42:06]the prophet sallallaahu Alec come to these people who have been fighting
[42:10]against him for more than 20 years and he looks at them
[42:15]with mercy and says what do you think I'm gonna do to
[42:19]you they said you're an honorable man son of an honorable man
[42:22]he says indeed so I set you all free show me an
[42:28]example in history of a conqueror who comes and takes his enemies
[42:34]under siege and they lay down their weapons and he lets them
[42:39]all walk away freely give me one example besides Imam Ali Salaam
[42:47]o bajalia in the Battle of channel long so Allah Muhammad Ali
[42:52]when people tell us that your religion is not about peace tell
[42:57]them in fact peace is the essence of our religion and that's
[42:59]what our prophet preached if the Prophet god forbid hypothetically speaking if
[43:03]he was if he were a blood you know thirsty individual he
[43:08]would have killed this entire nation all these people you guys have
[43:12]been fighting against me for 20 years you drove me out of
[43:14]my home city you took everything that I had 53 years of
[43:18]my life I spent in the city I was born here you
[43:23]guys took everything not only this you killed my uncle Hamza you
[43:27]mutilated his body what a such a you know savage way of
[43:32]killing my uncle you killed my cousin Oh BAE there you guys
[43:35]killed my dearest companions well it's revenge time now it's time for
[43:39]me to kill you if he were that kind of a person
[43:43]however to the contrary exact opposite a conqueror who usually comes with
[43:49]rage and anger he comes with love and mercy and he sets
[43:53]people his own enemies people like Abu Sufyan who fought against him
[43:57]people like hind' who mutilated the body of his own uncle she's
[44:03]standing right there in front of them and he lets them all
[44:05]go freely you show me a better example of love of peace
[44:11]of mercy than this so this is the example the prophets wore
[44:19]were always in defense or because people violated the treaty and even
[44:25]then he showed them mercy he showed them love showed them peace
[44:29]but when he was attacked he defends in the Battle of better
[44:33]the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa as a consequence to polish seizing the
[44:38]wealth of the Muslims they took all the money of the Muslims
[44:43]their houses everything they let them you know they drove them one
[44:45]way from Mecca with only clothes on their bodies that's it they
[44:47]have nothing so the Prophet wanted to impose sanctions we see that
[44:52]today in the world happening you know sometimes one day when countries
[44:56]want to avoid military conflict combat they impose sanctions when we see
[45:00]that happening today in the world ok the prophet sallallaahu I wanted
[45:03]to do the same thing impose sanctions financial sanctions on Koresh how
[45:09]there was a caravan that was coming led by Abu Sufyan this
[45:14]caravan Hawaii had invested lots of its wealth into the Scarab and
[45:18]the Prophet sallallaahu Ali said if we seize this Caravan away from
[45:22]place since they've seized all our wealth as Muslims they take everything
[45:28]away from us and they're planning on attacking us so if we
[45:33]seize this then this will weaken them financially and it will avoid
[45:39]any military confrontation they come they try to take the caravan however
[45:45]Abu Sufian learns about it he was the head of the caravan
[45:50]from flesh he diverts his route and he makes it to Mecca
[45:52]safely he tells the people of Croatia guess what guys this was
[45:57]what I was about to happen our caravan your investments were about
[46:00]to be seized so Abu jahil got up and says we have
[46:05]to teach this prophet a lesson and each one who messes with
[46:08]Boesch have to be taught a lesson Abu Sufyan said you know
[46:12]what since we managed to get away let's just forget about it
[46:14]he says no they have to learn a lesson ok that's what
[46:19]you say they take a vote and they raise an army of
[46:21]1,000 men well-equipped well-armed all horses and they come to attack the
[46:25]Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa they come all the way to the borders
[46:30]of Medina at a place of better those of you who have
[46:31]been to Hajj if you've been to Medina from there you go
[46:36]to a message it called message ara that's where you do your
[46:39]rom the area was just around there and until today they call
[46:45]it Abajo Ali the place the wells of Ali because Imam Ali
[46:47]Ali Salaam dug some wells there to bring water to fetch water
[46:51]to the army so until today it's called our bar Ali in
[46:54]that area so people have come to your border line if they're
[46:59]attacking your borders what do you do all you have to respond
[47:01]so the prophet sallallaahu while it prefers an army of about 300
[47:07]mm edoardo mohammed rasoolallah mohammed when impala they prepare an army of
[47:11]about three hundred thirteen people 313 people whom it is narrated in
[47:19]the hadith the leaders and the commanders of the imams army alehissalaam
[47:22]our imam when he reappears will be the same number as the
[47:25]fighters of bedrug 313 these are the commanders may Allah make us
[47:30]among them if not at least may Allah make us among the
[47:32]soldiers it sha Allah of the army and the companions of the
[47:37]Imam 313 poorly equipped they only had several swords amongst them only
[47:42]two three horses they were very poorly equipped outnumbered three times but
[47:48]they were united they had unity they loved the prophets of lollywood
[47:52]they listened to the prophet sallallaahu ali they obeyed the prophet sallallaahu
[47:59]Ali so these 313 people and initially they had a one-on-one combat
[48:05]Imam Ali comes out hamza comes out and obey definite hard at
[48:08]the prophet's cousin comes out and say we are going to fight
[48:13]against people from Kadesh who wants to fight us more how we
[48:16]as uncle comes out maryam maybe Sophia hence brother hence father comes
[48:23]out Maura we as grandfather comes out and we're our yes brother
[48:28]comes out three oh yes I was a fianc Sun hence Sun
[48:33]her brother and her father come out Imam Ali engages one-on-one combat
[48:41]Hamza on one on Khan combat and obey the one on one
[48:45]combat imam ali defeats his enemy kills him he finds hamza struggling
[48:48]salam on la la he helps him and they kill his opponent
[48:52]obey their his foot cut cut unfortunately he fell he collapsed imam
[48:58]ali went to his rescue and killed the third one as well
[49:03]so he killed Morales grandfather Malawi s brother and more awliyas who
[49:08]uncle and that is found in the letter one day he wrote
[49:13]to Maura we have Nia be Sofia and he says the sword
[49:14]with which I killed your grandfather and your uncle and your brother
[49:19]is still in my hands and it's ready to fight you as
[49:21]well if you engage in combat against us that's a natural balada
[49:27]so then the war erupted muslims engaged in combat against their enemies
[49:34]and 70 of the mushrikeen were killed 35 of them by the
[49:38]sword of imam ali salam ala hele half of them were killed
[49:43]by imam ali salam ala hele and abu jahal was killed in
[49:49]that battle one of the heads of perish so karesh lost tremendously
[49:55]devastating loss and they left in a devastating loss specially hint who
[50:00]lost her father son and brother in one shot all by imam
[50:06]ali salawatullahi wa salamu alayh and this brought victory to muslims in
[50:10]the first battle they fought which happened on the 17th day of
[50:13]the holy month of ramadan so they were fasting yet they were
[50:19]strong because they had the willpower and my brothers and sisters if
[50:22]we want to be strong if we want to succeed we need
[50:27]to be united when the muslims were united they succeeded even though
[50:30]they were outnumbered when they loved their prophet and obeyed him they
[50:37]succeeded so we really need to be united through the love of
[50:40]our prophet and through the love of Ahlul Bayt er a Hamas
[50:46]Salaam that's what would really bring unity to us and strength to
[50:48]us and that's my message to you my brothers and sisters for
[50:51]the next couple weeks or so that we have left of the
[50:55]holy month of Ramadan truly pray to allah subhanaw taala say yo
[50:58]rub my lord help me become a better follower of the prophet
[51:05]if I have any deficiency in my character and my religion that
[51:11]would make me a better person if I completed help me overcome
[51:15]that deficiency our allah if i have some arrogance will help me
[51:21]combat this if i have any string genus help me combat this
[51:25]make me a better person if I don't take care of my
[51:29]salat if I don't take care of my parents if I don't
[51:32]take care of my character and my manners if I don't take
[51:35]care of my head job yah rub through these couple weeks especially
[51:38]on the nights of cuddle say yah rub helped me become a
