[0:00][Music] Salam alikum dear brothers and sisters I hope everyone is doing

[0:26]well inshallah another highlight in the life of our holy prophet is

[0:29]the way that the prophet dealt with loss the way the prophet

[0:32]dealt with tragedy and of course anyone who looks at the life

[0:37]of the Prophet at any part of it every corner of it

[0:42]is full of calamities difficulties and tragedies and uh basically you find

[0:48]that the life of the Prophet is a constantly up and down

[0:51]it's not even a situation where the life of the Prophet was

[0:55]a normal life you know most people would assume if you're holy

[0:59]if you're close to God if God has your back whatever exactly

[1:02]that means then that means at the very least if you're not

[1:07]going to live a life that is completely protected by God at

[1:10]least you would be living a life where your life would be

[1:16]normal maybe even average but when you look at the life of

[1:18]the Prophet that is not what you find at all starting from

[1:21]his childhood of course you find the loss when it comes to

[1:24]his father you know passing away before he's even born the loss

[1:27]of his mother at a very young age and then of course

[1:32]the loss of others who came after that and you find that

[1:35]the prophet's life if someone were to look at it from far

[1:40]away and judge his life ahead of time someone might look at

[1:42]this life and say you know what this life is a life

[1:46]full of bad luck if someone believes in that a a life

[1:50]full of you know calamities and difficulties if anyone someone might look

[1:54]at that life and say you know what this life is not

[1:56]a blessed life is this the life of a person who's going

[2:00]to come and change the world and you know preach the message

[2:02]of Allah subhana wa ta'ala it doesn't look like that to us

[2:07]and yet that is exactly what happened this was the life of

[2:10]the holy prophet so I want to zoom in particularly on the

[2:14]loss of two individuals and these are two individuals both of whom

[2:18]are very dear and near to our hearts within our school of

[2:21]thought and that is Khadijah and of course his uncle Abu Talib

[2:26]so the waat of these two individuals the passing of these two

[2:31]individuals of course were very difficult for the prophet to take partially

[2:35]because they played such a an important role in spreading his message

[2:39]in enabling him to do so but also because these two individuals

[2:47]were passing away at such a critical time this is still while

[2:51]the Muslims are in Mecca and so they don't have Medina yet

[2:54]they don't they have not established a community yet and so historians

[2:59]tell us that these two IND individuals passed away in the same

[3:04]year and of course when the Muslims were were in this Valley

[3:08]that belonged to Abu Talib known ASB and the Muslims of course

[3:15]were in the most difficult situation that is when Calamity and tragedy

[3:19]struck there's a very big important lesson to be learned there you

[3:23]would assume the life of a prophet is blessed from the beginning

[3:26]when Calamity comes his way God immediately was going to open another

[3:30]door for him but when you look at it from a material

[3:35]perspective that's not what's happening at all you find the prophet one

[3:37]clo one door is shut on him that is the door of

[3:42]dealing with qur and them having that boycott but then immediately afterwards

[3:46]it seems as though God is shutting another door uh onto the

[3:51]prophet so how did the prophet deal with this loss how did

[3:57]he uh take this loss and digest it and understand it of

[4:01]those lessons that we learned from the prophet is that the prophet

[4:06]firstly he never lost hope in Allah subhana wa tala and that

[4:09]manifested Itself by the way that he interpreted the loss that was

[4:13]coming his way you and I when we go through loss one

[4:18]of the first things that we do is either we blame God

[4:22]or even if we don't blame God we might automatically assume that

[4:26]God is trying to punish us right maybe God wants to hurt

[4:29]me maybe God Hates Me Maybe God is trying to punish me

[4:33]when you look in the life of the Prophet that's not the

[4:38]way he understood loss yes is there situations where loss will enter

[4:41]someone's life because God wants to bring them back onto the right

[4:47]path sure definitely but even in those situations typically it's to take

[4:50]this person in the right direction therefore even in that situation it's

[4:54]not to be understood in the sense of punishment per se that

[4:57]was the first thing the second thing is that it didn't allow

[5:02]for the prophet to get down on himself too much and to

[5:07]give up on the continuation of this path yes he lost Khadijah

[5:10]Les yes he lost Abu Talib he understood however that this is

[5:14]part of the ups and downs that life is going to bring

[5:19]his way and that when things are not going well he has

[5:24]to be patient and that when things are going well he has

[5:26]to be thankful to Allah subhana wa tala this is why the

[5:30]verse of the Quran reads if someone is you know having a

[5:38]good time then we take a blessing away from them all of

[5:45]a sudden they become they lose all hope and they speak as

[5:49]if we never had their back and we never blessed them to

[5:53]begin with and then the Quran continues if someone is having having

[6:01]a difficult time and then we make things easier for them instead

[6:04]of putting it into context what does this person do he will

[6:09]say you'll say you know what all the difficult times have passed

[6:14]now my life is going to be perfect and the Quran says

[6:16]neither of these is the way I want you to understand the

[6:20]ups and downs of life especially when tragedy strikes when Calamity strikes

[6:26]how often do we attribute this to God punishing us but you

[6:30]don't find that in the S of the Prophet you find in

[6:34]the S of the prophet he has this famous line specifically narrated

[6:37]when he lost his child ibraim which was another one of the

[6:43]losses of the holy prophet he said of course that our heart

[6:45]is in pain the tears are in our eyes but everything that

[6:52]we say we don't say anything to show that we are ungrateful

[6:55]to Allah subhanahu waala this is another one of the important highlights

[6:59]light of the S of our beloved prophet
