[0:00]The CIA is working to arm Iranian Kurdish opposition forces for a

[0:06]ground operation inside Western Iran.

[0:08]Donald Trump has allegedly spoken with the president of the Democratic Party

[0:13]of Iranian Kurdistan, Mustafa Hijra, this week to offer US and Israeli

[0:18]support with the aim of creating an uprising against the government from

[0:21]inside Iran.

[0:21]According to an anonymous Kurdish official, Kurdish groups in Iran are set

[0:25]to participate in ground operations in just days.

[0:29]Trump was also in contact with Iraqi Kurdish leaders to discuss possible

[0:34]coordination as the operation unfolds as arming Iranian Kurdish groups would depend

[0:40]on Iraqi Kurdish authorities allowing weapons transits through their region.

[0:44]Reports have indicated that Donald Trump has expressed openness to supporting Kurdish

[0:48]armed groups opposed to the Iranian government with some officials suggesting that

[0:54]backing could help destabilize Iran and cause broader internal unrest.

[0:58]And this is not the first time the US and Israel have

[1:03]sought to use Kurdish factions as part of a broader strategy to

[1:06]pressure Iran from within.

[1:08]Armed Iranian Kurdish separatist groups like the Kurdistan Freedom Party were actively

[1:13]involved in the foreign backed riots in January this year, carrying out

[1:18]operations against Iran's security forces throughout the unrest.

[1:21]The CIA also has a history of working with Kurdish groups in

[1:26]Iraq and Syria.

[1:26]Israel also has established intelligence networks among Kurdish groups in these areas.

[1:31]Benjamin Netanyahu has been lobbying for Kurdish involvement for months.

[1:36]But does Kurdish involvement really benefit the minority group?

[1:40]Historically, the US has no qualms about abandoning Kurdish allies after the

[1:48]rise of Ahmed al-Shara into power in Syria.

[1:49]The US special envoy stated that the purpose of the US Kurdish

[1:55]alliance had largely expired.

[1:56]This came after Kurdish factions in Syria had spent years fighting against

[2:02]extremist forces during the Syrian war while receiving US military and logistical

[2:07]support only to then see the forces they once fought gain a

[2:11]foothold in Syria's new political order with US backing.

[2:15]The United States has often fueled and leveraged internal divisions and separatist

[2:21]movements across the region, using fragmentation itself as a tool to weaken

[2:28]adversaries like Iran and advance its own strategic ambitions.

[2:30]Kurdish forces fought and bled for USbacked campaigns on several occasions and

[2:37]were ultimately disregarded afterwards.

[2:40]The lesson of the past must be learned.
