[0:00]foreign in our last lesson regarding the biography of rasulullah we were

[0:56]mentioning the verses that speak about the change of the Qibla this

[1:02]was the last event we were analyzing from the um events of

[1:09]the Prophet saws and we shed light on verse 144.

[1:16]today inshallah we're going to shed light on the verse after it

[1:21]verse 145.

[1:23]and that inshallah will move on to another vital event which happened

[1:32]uh on the second year after Hijra in the second year after

[1:36]the prophet's migration so verse 145 of Surah al-baqarah says what it

[1:47]continues what the topic of the change of the Qibla if you

[1:50]remember just so we can refresh our memories we said that when

[1:56]Allah to change the Qibla and to start facing the sacred house

[2:06]instead of facing Salat and he also commanded the Muslims to do

[2:13]the same the Jews objected they objected against this deed against this

[2:19]uh you know change in the uh in in the Qibla the

[2:25]change of the Qibla and so a debate happened between them and

[2:32]rasulullah on a lengthy debate happened between them and rasulullah you can

[2:42]find the full debate in the book narrates what happened and so

[2:52]you know several verses in the Quran came down speaking about this

[2:59]issue Allah says in verse 145 of Surat al-baqarah in woman so

[3:16]he says and even if you bring to those who have been

[3:22]given the book every sign they would not follow your Kabbalah foreign

[3:29]you are addressing a stubborn group of people a group of people

[3:35]who do not want to give in to the truth here obviously

[3:40]Allah is not talking about everyone amongst the people of the book

[3:44]he's not talking about every single Jew or every single Christian because

[3:53]we know that there are Jews and Christians during the days of

[3:58]rasulullah who submitted to Allah and rasulullah and they became Muslim which

[4:04]would imply that they followed the prophets even today there are Jews

[4:13]who you know revert there are Christians who revert they become Muslim

[4:17]in and they start performing Salat the way we perform Salah so

[4:21]the verse here is not talking about every single person who is

[4:29]from rather it's referring to a stubborn group of people from so

[4:34]it says uh and even if you bring to those who have

[4:38]been given the book every sign they would not follow Europe Allah

[4:44]here is reminding us of a sad reality that we've mentioned many

[4:51]times and that is unfortunately the human being sometimes will see the

[4:57]truth know the truth he'll know that this is you know the

[5:00]full truth but even then he will abstain from following it so

[5:06]it's not that he doesn't know it's the truth it's not that

[5:11]he has lack of knowledge in regard to what the truth is

[5:14]no it's an issue of submission or say lack of submission he

[5:20]does not want to submit now why does he doesn't he want

[5:25]to submit it could be out of arrogance it could be out

[5:29]of Envy it could be out of other reasons as well so

[5:34]Allah here is reminding us of that sad reality which is that

[5:38]the human being sometimes will not give in to the truth even

[5:45]if he sees it and recognize it very well and even if

[5:48]you bring to those who have been given the book every sign

[5:53]they would not follow your Qibla nor can you be a follower

[5:56]of their Qibla Allah tells the prophets and you are not a

[6:09]mention Allah is indirectly giving a message to those people who were

[6:18]from the people of the book telling them do not have hope

[6:26]in misleading our Prophet he's not going to give in to your

[6:31]requests or your desire he is not going to fulfill your wishes

[6:34]he fulfill he fulfills what Allah commands him to do no one

[6:43]can mislead our prophet sallallahu alaihiwan um [Music] neither are they the

[6:56]followers of each other's Qibla which means the people of the book

[7:00]themselves differ in what in the issue of the Qibla some of

[7:06]them direct themselves towards a specific a specific Direction one day pray

[7:13]and others direct themselves towards a different Direction when they pray so

[7:16]they themselves differ on the issue of the Qibla and then he

[7:24]says foreign [Music] and if you follow their desires after the knowledge

[7:43]that has come to you then you shall most surely be among

[7:49]the unjust here Allah is indirectly threatening any Muslim who gives in

[8:06]to the desire of those individuals in regards to the Qibla and

[8:12]he's making a bold statement saying that you have to follow the

[8:19]Qibla of rasool Allah from now on you have to face if

[8:28]you disobey rasulullah and you continue to face then you will be

[8:38]disobeying Allah and as a result you will be from the unjust

[8:42]as a result you will deserve what you will deserve punishment so

[8:47]here the last statement in Surah in in verse 145 of Surat

[8:56]al-baqarah is confirming that a Muslim does not have the option of

[9:04]facing al-kaba or by this or any other Qibla at the time

[9:10]of Salat when he's praying no no it's a must that you

[9:17]face the temporary law has been removed what is the temporary law

[9:21]the law that said you have to face in prayer now the

[9:24]permanent law has descended you must face al-qaaba during Salat this is

[9:30]the law that will continue that will continue to exist and I

[9:35]will continue to be implemented until the day of judgment the Muslims

[9:40]do not have an option here they have to submit to what

[9:45]Allah told them and they have to face al-qabla during Summit one

[10:04]might say here but the wording of the verse indicates that Allah

[10:10]is addressing rasulullah Allah is saying what he's saying foreign and if

[10:31]you o Muhammad and if you follow their desires after the knowledge

[10:35]that has come to you then you shall most surely be among

[10:39]the unjust yes apparently the verse is directed at who rasulallahu again

[10:51]apparently it's directed at the prophet sallallahu alaihi word but if you

[11:00]remember when we were analyzing the verses before verse 145 of such

[11:09]as verse 144.

[11:10]Allah made it clear that this law does not only apply to

[11:18]rasulullah it applies to all Muslims they all have to face when

[11:21]they are in prayer secondly secondly here this verse and apparently addresses

[11:34]rasulullah but as you can find in certain books of tefsir Allah

[11:40]is using the method that we call what does that mean it

[11:52]means I'm speaking to you but o neighbor listen as a medium

[12:03]to convey that message to us bear in mind there are several

[12:12]verses in the Quran that or apparently uh directed to rasulullah but

[12:18]in reality they are directed at us so Allah uses the prophet

[12:24]as a medium to convey the message to who to convey the

[12:28]message to us there is no doubt there's no shadow of a

[12:36]doubt that the prophet salallahu alaihi will not give in to the

[12:39]desires of the people of the book there is no doubt that

[12:43]he will never disobey Allah but as for us fallible human beings

[12:51]it's possible that we deviate it's possible that sometimes we'll give in

[12:55]to you know um pressure or certain forms of pressure that are

[13:02]imposed on us keeps the Muslim infirm or say helps them stay

[13:10]firm by saying uh in verse 145 in foreign so again there's

[13:28]no option of facing the Qibla or not facing it facing the

[13:32]Kaaba or not facing it in Salat no it's a must you

[13:37]have to face it you have to direct yourself towards the Kaaba

[13:41]in Salat hence our jurists say if you open their books of

[13:47]jurisprudence they'll tell you that if someone purposely in Salat you know

[13:52]directs himself away from IL Kaaba what will happen to his prayer

[13:58]this prayer will become invalid you have to face the house that

[14:05]Allah chose to be the per the birth place of emiral meaning

[14:21]this is the last point we wanted to mention in regards the

[14:27]change of the Qibla and now we move to a second or

[14:33]to another vital event which happened after uh which happened sorry in

[14:38]the second year after migration in the second year after migration it's

[14:44]a beautiful event a happy event an event that caused the angels

[14:50]to Rejoice into rejoice and also the muslimin to rejoice and ivanta

[14:59]keeps on instilling Joy in the hearts of the Believers and will

[15:05]keep on instilling Joy in their hearts until the day of judgment

[15:09]and that is the marriage of Amir al-mumin and Fatima this took

[15:17]place in the second year after migration that event that beautiful blessed

[15:26]event is an event that we need to focus on and we

[15:28]need to properly study because rasulullah as you shall realize rasulallah wanted

[15:41]to teach us in fact taught us many lessons in regards to

[15:49]marriage through the marriage of Ali and Fatima Ali him so here

[15:54]you had three infallibles and what infallible is we're talking about the

[15:59]three uh the the three lights Muhammad Ali and Fatima these three

[16:08]who were created before Allah created anything they and you know the

[16:18]rest of and the nine descendants of el Hassan they were created

[16:22]before Allah created anything uh created anything else you had these three

[16:30]and performing Deeds through which they taught us many lessons in regards

[16:45]to uh marriage and how you know in Islamic marriage should be

[16:48]rasulullah as you know took the role of what the father-in-law took

[16:57]the rule of the bride and Ali took the role of the

[17:02]groom hands in this lesson and the upcoming lessons were going to

[17:08]be shedding light on this important incident we're going to be reading

[17:14]Traditions about the marriage of Ali and Fatima salaam and we're going

[17:17]to see what we can learn from this blessed marriage today we're

[17:25]going to start as we live the eve of the first of

[17:31]Shaban which is the month of rasulullah as you know we're going

[17:35]to shed light on a lengthy tradition found in the book imama

[17:41]foreign let me send you the first part of the narration and

[17:53]then we'll continue insha Allah all right so we have a tradition

[18:27]going back to Imam zafarasada he is narrated to have said that

[18:36]his father said that his grandfather said meaning either the grandfather of

[18:40]jaffarasaduk or in Hussain the grandfather of Muhammad one of them said

[18:46]that Allah foreign so he says that I intended on getting married

[19:15]to Fatima alaihissalam for a period of time for a period of

[19:21]time that thought was in Imam Ali's mind and he actually had

[19:28]the intention of getting married to asaida Zara he wanted to get

[19:35]married to her Ali bear in mind knew that Fatima ultimately will

[19:40]be his wife Fatima also knew that Amir alumin will be her

[19:48]husband they all know it when Fatima Zara was born from day

[19:57]one when she was born she uttered several testimonies and one of

[20:04]them was that her husband was the sixth was the master of

[20:09]the successors she said that so you could imagine was a newborn

[20:14]baby saying that I testify that my husband is the master of

[20:19]the successors was going to be her husband but even then you

[20:27]know I mean it says what he says I had the intention

[20:32]of getting married to the side of Fatima I wanted to marry

[20:38]her but rasulullah but I did not have the courage to mention

[20:46]that in front of the messenger of God peace be upon him

[20:53]and his family China's he's teaching us what shyness and he is

[21:04]directly or indirectly teaching us that when you want to seek the

[21:13]hand of a particular lady in marriage it is normal to feel

[21:16]what to feel shy from her father to feel a sense of

[21:22]shyness when you ask for that man's uh for when you ask

[21:29]for that lady's hand in front of her father and as you

[21:32]you know address her father so he says who rasulullah is [Music]

[21:47]however the thought of seeking Fatima's hand alaihissalam in marriage and getting

[21:58]married was going through my mind day and night he wanted to

[22:01]get married to the Lady of Light Salah until he says one

[22:12]day I entered upon the messenger of Allah so he said so

[22:20]I said I am at your service o messenger of Allah look

[22:26]at how he speaks to him look at the humbleness look at

[22:29]the submission I'm at your service and truly he was at the

[22:34]service of the Prophet whatever the prophet needed was ready to obey

[22:44]his command and to fulfill his need instantaneously fakhana 's wish so

[22:57]he told the commander told him are you interested in getting married

[23:10]so I said Allah and his messenger know best here we see

[23:17]another manifestation of Imam Ali's discipline and Imam Ali's reference to rasulullah

[23:23]see you could have told him yes yes I am interested in

[23:28]getting married but here I mean teaches us that when we are

[23:33]in the presence of rasulullah or the presence of one of his

[23:37]successors and you know were were asked a question it is it

[23:46]is good to respond by saying Allah and his messenger or Allah

[23:55]and his proof know best for example if Imam asked me do

[24:03]you know for example the Islamic laws regarding let's say Salat instead

[24:13]of saying yes I do yeah I would say Allah here this

[24:19]is teaching us so it tells him Allah Allah and his messenger

[24:24]know best Fatima the Imam says I assume at that point I'm

[24:38]giving you here the literal translation I assumed that he wanted to

[24:44]marry me to a lady from quraish and I was at fear

[24:50]of losing Fatima alaihissalam of not getting married to Fatima I mean

[24:58]because she is Imam Ali's match and he is her match we

[25:05]have a very important narration by Imam which basically says that if

[25:18]Allah had not married she wouldn't have a match she wouldn't have

[25:27]anyone who is suitable to marry her foreign and the Imam says

[25:38]that this applies to all human beings from Adam the last human

[25:44]being none of them Allah none of the previous Prophets none of

[26:00]their successors would have been suitable matches for Allah which means the

[26:10]position of a Seda Zara is higher than the position of the

[26:15]previous prophets and their successors meaning all prophets excluding Muhammad sallallahu alaihi

[26:24]wasallam of course here Imam is um supposing that if Adam was

[26:36]not Fatima's ancestor then even Adam would not be a suitable match

[26:40]to Fatima if Ibrahim was not Fatima's ancestor even him would not

[26:46]be even Ibrahim would not be a suitable match for saidam so

[26:54]on so forth so Anita says I assume that he wants to

[27:04]marry me to some of the women from Fatima but I was

[27:12]at fear of what of losing Fatima of not being married here

[27:18]one might say so how can he say such a word well

[27:28]since we know that he knew he was going to marry her

[27:33]and in fact rasulullah knew and Fatima knew as well then what

[27:42]we understand from this statement is that is speaking from a third

[27:53]person's perspective meaning if you know someone was present when that dialogue

[28:02]was happening between rasool Allah he would have thought would have assumed

[28:12]that the prophet was going to marry Amir al-mumin to who to

[28:20]some of the women of quraish and wasn't necessarily going to uh

[28:25]marry him to Fatima specifically foreign at that point I separated from

[28:43]rasulullah they separated each one went to do his own thing possibly

[28:51]you know the prophet went to Salat uh I don't know or

[28:56]fulfill a need of a Believer nonetheless he says rasulullah then he

[29:09]swears by Allah says I swear by Allah after a little amount

[29:15]of time passed the messenger of Allah's messenger came to me so

[29:21]only after a minimal amount of time passed someone was sent by

[29:29]rasulullah to the Imam telling him he told me answer the call

[29:38]of rasulullah and hurry be quick ly he says so I went

[29:48]quickly to the messenger of Allah when I entered upon him I

[29:54]looked at him I looked at the prophet salallahu alaihi um the

[30:07]prophet the Imam says when I saw the prophet it was clear

[30:11]that the prophet was extremely happy never had I seen Allah um

[30:21]rejoicing in such a manner he was in the chamber of um

[30:40]he says when he saw me when the prophet saw me his

[30:46]face shined and he smiled he says I uh gazed at the

[31:03]whiteness of his teeth and his teeth also shined so here from

[31:13]the facial expression of rasulallah was very happy extremely happy in fact

[31:21]he says that never had I seen him rejoicing to that degree

[31:28]personally I learned from rasulullah here that when you are the father-in-law

[31:37]and someone suitable you know men who has good who has good

[31:46]morals comes and asks you for your daughter's hand when you have

[31:50]that suitable match coming and asking you for your daughter's hands at

[31:55]your daughter's hand uh you should rejoice you should be happy alhamdulillah

[32:01]someone who's faithful and someone with good has come to get married

[32:09]to my daughter he's actually interested in my daughter so you should

[32:14]Rejoice should be happy and at the same time you should try

[32:18]to facilitate his Affairs as much as possible make it easier on

[32:24]him to get married to your daughter to get them both married

[32:28]instead of what presenting obstacles and putting difficult uh or a somewhat

[32:38]difficult conditions on that individual so make things easier make the issues

[32:45]of marriage easier instead of making them hard or say making them

[32:53]harder that is very important very important especially in our day and

[32:57]age when we have uh we have you know unlawful Temptations and

[33:07]desires surrounding us from all directions such that it has become very

[33:16]easy to fall into a forbidden deed the forbid indeed might not

[33:20]be necessarily fornication but it could be one of the you know

[33:24]steps that lead to fornication God forbid it's very simple to fall

[33:31]into forbidden deeds in this era hence we should make marriage easier

[33:37]we should we meaning we followers should try our best to facilitate

[33:49]the Affairs the issues of marriage as much as possible by following

[33:54]the lead of rasulullah Ali and Fatima Salaam so he says come

[34:17]to me Allah has taken care of the issue has taken care

[34:25]of uh your uh marital issue or say has taken care of

[34:34]your marriage he tells him that he tells him manifique he tells

[34:40]him that I was what concerned over you yeah I wanted to

[34:46]get you married right he wants to get Amira married to who

[34:51]to Fatima of course but he tells them Allah has taken care

[34:55]of that how so because Allah commanded foreign for today so we

[35:23]can have a little bit of time left for the class inshallah

[35:26]next week will continue with this important and beautiful tradition alhamdulillah
