The topic of Magic is an area of great debate and discussion amongst people. In this lecture, Sayed Ahmed Al-Qazwini shares an analysis of this topic from an Islamic perspective, going over aspects like identifying magic and its types, discussing if there is "real" magic, and the permissibility of magic from an Islamic standpoint. [0:00][Music] the belief and practice of magic has existed since the dawn

[0:21]of time magicians Sorcerers Wizards and witches have always existed and this

[0:28]topic the topic of magic has always been an area of interest

[0:33]for many people and thus you find many people they go and

[0:38]attend magic shows some people that attend these shows they believe in

[0:43]what they see that indeed this magician has superpowers and other people

[0:49]they don't believe in that but they just want to enjoy the

[0:52]show and you find some people they take their interest to a

[0:58]further level in that they try to become magicians they try to

[1:03]perform magic shows and tricks so in general many people they have

[1:08]an interest and enjoy music uh Magic I'm sorry but when we

[1:16]come to religions we find that it's a different story religions are

[1:20]not so fond in general religions are not so fond of magic

[1:24]they have a negative View and perception of magic and they want

[1:30]their followers followers they prefer that their followers stay away from Magic

[1:36]and one reason behind that may be due to the fact that

[1:38]throughout the course of history most magic that has been practiced has

[1:43]been the black magic the evil Magic The Magic that hurts other

[1:47]people that creates problems in society and that's why inshallah tonight and

[1:54]tomorrow we will analyze and discuss the topic of magic from an

[2:00]Islamic perspective and we will go over four important points number one

[2:06]how does Islam view magic number two islamically what exactly is the

[2:13]definition of magic number three is there real magic or is all

[2:16]the magic that we see fake and finally number four where in

[2:22]the Quran does Allah subhanahu waala speak about magic so we will

[2:26]inshallah go over these four points tonight and tomorrow but before we

[2:30]begin muhamad so Point number one how does Islam view magic now

[2:45]when we come to the religion of Islam we find that Islam

[2:49]categorically rejects magic and Islam has a very very negative view of

[2:58]magic and that Islam harshly condemns magic and magicians and this is

[3:03]based on numerous Traditions from for example in one tradition it's narrated

[3:09]that says a magician is like a c like a disbeliever in

[3:18]another tradition theith says a tradition a a magician is cursed we

[3:24]find in another tradition narrated Byam he says there are three people

[3:30]that will not enter Heaven if they obviously don't repent and one

[3:36]of the three that mentions is someone who is addicted to Magic

[3:43]a magician that always wants to perform magic tricks will not enter

[3:47]the heaven unless he repents and finally in a tradition narrated by

[3:53]he says whoever learns any magic whether it's small or large amount

[4:07]of magic that person has thisel in Allah subhanahu waala this is

[4:11]a form of kuur So based on this we understand that Islam

[4:18]condemns magic and condemns magicians and has a very negative view of

[4:24]that and that's why you find our when they list the sins

[4:27]amongst the sins is Magic is learn learning and practicing magic is

[4:31]considered a sin by and not only is a sin it's considered

[4:36]amongst the the big Sins not just a small sin now like

[4:42]I said one reason maybe behind that is because most of the

[4:48]magic that's practiced is black magic meaning evil magic and Magic is

[4:53]a very powerful tool and it could be easily used to hurt

[4:55]other people and thus Islam wants us to stay away from it

[4:59]this could be one reason why it has such a Negative look

[5:01]towards magic because of its power and because of in most cases

[5:07]it's used in the wrong way so this is number one we

[5:10]understand how Islam views magic and most they say that even if

[5:19]the magic is part of the white magic if it's not used

[5:22]in the harmful way it's still Haram it's still Haram I'm not

[5:26]allowed to learn or practice any magic and I'll explain more of

[5:29]that in in the next minutes so this is number one number

[5:35]two what exactly is the definition of magic that's forbidden this this

[5:41]practice that's forbidden that's so evil in Islam what exactly is the

[5:46]definition of magic now here brothers and sisters this is where the

[5:49]problem Rises and that there is no clear definition to Magic the

[5:55]you'll find each has his own definition there is so much dis

[5:59]agreement between the ever since a thousand years ago till today what

[6:07]is the definition of magic and why is there so much disagreement

[6:11]why the controversy it's simple all these Traditions they speak about as

[6:17]in the Arabic language and the problem is that the word is

[6:23]not very clear what it is what is a and what does

[6:25]it apply to and what's and what's not now even though is

[6:30]translated in the Eng English language as to be magic but in

[6:33]Arabic it's not so clear because when we go and refer to

[6:40]Arabic dictionaries especially the old dictionaries we find that the definition that's

[6:44]given by the dictionaries to Magic it's not very clear most dictionaries

[6:49]if you go back to the word sah in the Arabic language

[6:53]they will Define magic as being what they will say anything that's

[7:00]mysterious or deceptive just that any mysterious or deceptive method is considered

[7:09]as magic now obviously this definition is ambiguous it's too vague it's

[7:15]too broad because it applies to many things that are not magic

[7:19]for example if someone lies is this considered magic obviously not no

[7:24]one considers this magic but the definition applies because it's using deceptive

[7:28]methods if someone cheat for example certain aspects of Technology there are

[7:36]certain aspects of technology that are mysterious especially Advanced uh Tech technologies

[7:44]that only the military possesses this is a mystery how does it

[7:47]work nobody knows how certain for example uh jet fighter jets work

[7:54]the stealth jets that the for example the US makes these are

[7:56]mystery to most people so is this magic making these fighter jets

[7:59]is Magic obviously not so this shows us that the definition that's

[8:04]provided by the Arabic dictionaries is too vague it's too broad and

[8:10]it applies to things that are definitely not magic so that's why

[8:15]the were confused here what exactly is Magic when when IMI when

[8:19]the imams were speaking about magic and they say this isur this

[8:24]is har what exactly were they talking about now there are some

[8:28]things that are obviously magic but there are many gray areas is

[8:31]this magic or is this not magic so that's why you'll find

[8:36]each has his own interpretation each has his own definition based on

[8:42]his understanding of what magic is and thus in order to understand

[8:46]which forms of magic are Halal which are Haram what exactly is

[8:49]Magic what are not we have to list all the possible all

[8:55]the possible actions that are considered as magic and see what which

[9:00]one of them is truly magic and which one of them is

[9:03]not magic which one of them is Haram and which one of

[9:04]them is not so you find many when they come to defining

[9:10]magic they say there are two types of Magic the first typee

[9:16]of magic is the fake magic it's not real it's all Illusions

[9:20]and deception and the second type of magic is the real magic

[9:28]those magicians that do have superpowers so they divide magic into two

[9:32]parts so first we come to the first part which is the

[9:33]major part of magic this is the fake magic the they Define

[9:40]the first time the fake type of magic as being using any

[9:44]deceptive methods to fool the human being but through mysterious ways so

[9:54]it has to involve deceit it has to involve deception it has

[9:57]to involve fooling the human being's eyes or senses or his brain

[10:00]but it has to be done in a mysterious way in a

[10:05]hidden way if it's done in obvious way it's not magic so

[10:08]this shows us that number one it's not real it's all fake

[10:13]number two it has to involve what it has to involve fooling

[10:16]it has to involve deception it has to involve manipulating the brain

[10:23]of the human being and thus these same when they come to

[10:27]the fake magic using deception in a mysterious way they say there's

[10:31]two types of fake magic the first type of fake magic involves

[10:38]using Illusions using Illusions whether they're optical illusions or any other types

[10:44]of Illusions fooling the eye of the human being or the brain

[10:47]of the human being and creating Illusions this is the first type

[10:51]of magic that's forbidden and that's why you see a skilled magician

[10:58]is able to make you see what's not truly there he'll make

[11:01]you see something that's not there it's an illusion or he will

[11:06]make you not see something that's actually there and thus you find

[11:11]a skilled magician will will appear he's not really doing it will

[11:16]appear to me in my eyes to be cutting a woman into

[11:20]two pieces you've seen the magic shows they bring a woman she

[11:23]sleeps on a surface and then he brings a saw or he

[11:31]probably most of the times they sleep in a coffin and they

[11:34]take he takes the saw and he begins to cut that coffin

[11:39]into two pieces and then he separates it and the woman is

[11:43]still alive so he's appearing to what to do something Supernatural he's

[11:47]cutting a human into two pieces and then he brings her back

[11:50]together and she's alive nothing's wrong with her this for this reason

[11:54]you find many people they believe in magicians why because it appears

[11:59]to them that something super natural is being done now is it

[12:03]really being done or not no it's a trick it's an illusion

[12:05]it's a deception it's not true but it appears to be true

[12:10]you'll see that amongst the famous the famous magic tricks is that

[12:14]he'll show you a hat it's a deep hat a black hat

[12:18]he shows it to the audience it's empty he turns it this

[12:20]way and he recites a chant let's say abracadabra or something like

[12:27]that and then he pulls out what a RAB or something else

[12:30]a dove a pigeon from it so it will fool me into

[12:35]he will fool me into believing that what that he made it

[12:37]appear out of this out of nothing he just read those word

[12:42]and it was created it was appear or for example he'll move

[12:45]his magic wand and he will make someone fly or he will

[12:51]make someone disappear or someone appear so all of this is based

[12:54]on what it's based on Illusions now how do they get away

[12:59]with it how do these magicians get away with all of this

[13:03]how can they fool us now sometimes you'll find magicians will use

[13:08]things they will use things in order to help them in their

[13:11]tricks that are hidden from us for example he'll use a magnet

[13:16]you think it's the oneand moving it well it's the magnet or

[13:18]he will use a hidden rope or he will hide a door

[13:24]somewhere behind somewhere or there is an opening in the floor and

[13:26]you thought he disappeared but he in fact went in the basement

[13:31]for example so they use many hidden Tools in order to help

[13:34]them in order to fool their audiences many times they use some

[13:37]aspects of technology or of science that the audience are ignorant of

[13:43]and they think this person has Supernatural power no he's only utilizing

[13:47]and taking advantage of sence and this has been mentioned about the

[13:51]Sorcerers of the time of Musa and I'll speak about this tomorrow

[13:54]they used to always perform magic tricks some commentators of the Quran

[13:58]they have said that they used to use certain aspects of Science

[14:03]in order to fool people people didn't know about that and I'll

[14:07]give the example tomorrow inshallah so they use certain aspects of technology

[14:12]or science and in other times you find that the sorcerers and

[14:21]The Magicians they take advantage of the limits of the human being's

[14:25]mind this mind that Allah subhana wa tala has given us magician

[14:29]and not just magicians psychologists and scientists they have discovered that the

[14:34]human being's brain is suceptible and vulnerable to what to illusions that

[14:44]in certain circumstances the human being's brain his perception of reality will

[14:51]be altered and thus it will result in what an Illusions and

[14:55]you see a magician is someone who's an expert in taking advantage

[15:00]of this weakness the magician knows that in certain circumstances the human

[15:05]being will be fooled the human being is vulnerable to Illusions and

[15:10]that's why you see for example they have so many lights why

[15:14]they want to distract you you see for example they play with

[15:17]words to distract you or they divert the attention of the audience

[15:23]to the wrong place and the real stuff is being done somewhere

[15:26]else they know the humaning Can Only concentrate on one place the

[15:29]attention over here and the real stuff is being done over there

[15:33]the human being thinks it's a it's a magic trick it's real

[15:36]so they utilize all these mechanisms all these methods in order to

[15:40]fool the human being so this is the first type of fake

[15:46]magic it involves deception through mysterious ways the state most state that

[15:51]this is allam if it involves deception deceit through mysterious ways this

[15:58]is Haram the second type of faith magic according to these is

[16:03]what it's called in the Arabic language many scholars they have considered

[16:10]as being a form of magic and in English English is translated

[16:16]to slate of hands it's the quick and clever movement of the

[16:21]hands so it also creates Illusions but why not because there's deception

[16:26]because of the person The Magician's fast hands and this you see

[16:34]and this you see in magicians when they use the cards when

[16:38]they use the cards you see they shuffle them so fast so

[16:43]they take advantage of their quick hands in order to fool Their

[16:46]audience this is called sh and if you just go on the

[16:50]internet go on YouTube and you SE search about some famous and

[17:00]typical Magic tricks you'll find how they're able to use their quick

[17:04]hands to fool you so for example the ball disappears or something

[17:07]that disappears it didn't disappear they were able to hide it quickly

[17:10]somewhere but the human being was not able to see that just

[17:16]for example go and write this is one of the most basic

[17:18]magic tricks go on YouTube and write the vanishing ball illusion you'll

[17:22]see someone many videos You'll see someone who's standing and he has

[17:28]a red ball in his hand and he's just juggling it he's

[17:30]just throwing up and catching it throwing up and catching it he

[17:33]does it five six times the seventh eighth time he takes his

[17:38]hand up but he does not release the ball the ball is

[17:43]in his hand but however you see the ball going up and

[17:45]down the human being's mind fools and because he does it fast

[17:51]the human being's mind fools him into thinking the ball went up

[17:53]in the air but then he shows you it's was still in

[17:56]my hand so this is an optical illusion that they used to

[17:59]fool the he would be so this is the second type of

[18:04]magic many many they consider this also as Haram because it also

[18:08]involves fooling the human being so this is the first type of

[18:14]magic it's all fake there's nothing real and then there is the

[18:20]second type of Magic the second type of magic is the magic

[18:24]that is real and this likewise has been divided by our into

[18:32]two parts they say the first type of real magic is what

[18:37]is defined as using mysterious ways in order to do something natural

[18:43]so this involves for example using spells using chants using curses for

[18:53]example using the aid of Jin using the aid of spirits of

[19:01]devils of demons and angels and so on and so forth so

[19:04]I summon these all these Spirits all these creatures or I use

[19:10]a spell or a chant but I'm trying to do something that's

[19:12]natural let me give you an example let's say there's a woman

[19:15]that wants a man to love her now there's two ways for

[19:22]her to do that there is a natural way to do that

[19:23]and there's a magical way in doing that so the first one

[19:30]way that she seduces this man into loving her is through natural

[19:33]ways she goes and speaks to him and she creates a relationship

[19:39]with him and she does things for him and in the end

[19:41]he loves her through a natural way this is nothing wrong with

[19:46]that there is not magic and then again there are those that

[19:49]in order for them to seduce certain men they cast the spell

[19:53]on that man they cast a spell they read a chant and

[19:58]all that all of a sudden this man is in love with

[19:59]this woman he's in love why because they use magic now this

[20:04]is considered as Haram because this is using mysterious ways to achieve

[20:09]Natural Things another example let's say there's a book in this shelf

[20:13]I want this book there's a natural way I get up and

[20:17]go get it or I ask someone to bring it for me

[20:21]nothing wrong with that and then I can achieve that same goal

[20:23]through magic let's say I move my wand and read something a

[20:28]chance or I cast a spell or I summon a spirit to

[20:30]bring it for me this is considered as magic many say this

[20:35]is this is using magic in order to achieve your goals this

[20:39]is not allowed so this is real it's not fi there is

[20:43]no fooling there is no deception it's all real so if it

[20:47]involves mysterious ways then it becomes Haram this is the first type

[20:53]of real magic the second type of real magic involves using mysterious

[20:58]ways to do Supernatural things and this is the greatest type of

[21:04]magic so for example you find a magician that has superpowers he's

[21:08]able to fly he's really able to fly he's able to make

[21:13]things truly disappear he's able to teleport from one place to another

[21:16]he's able to take a piece of rock and he turns it

[21:21]into gold he's able to move the sun he's able to for

[21:27]example turn a human being into a frog this is considered as

[21:32]magic he has Supernatural powers and this likewise has been considered by

[21:37]most of our or many of our this is Magic and this

[21:40]is Haram because this is done through mysterious ways now what we

[21:44]have to be careful of and we have to make the clear

[21:47]distinction is that if any of these things are done through the

[21:52]powers of Allah direct powers of Allah then this is not magic

[21:56]this is a miracle likewise you find he did he did many

[22:02]Supernatural things for example he was able to crack the moon in

[22:06]half the Holy Quran says what this is a miracle this is

[22:12]not magic even though it's supernatural but this is not magic because

[22:16]this was through Allah directly so this is not considered as magic

[22:19]if it's done through a mysterious way through spells through chants if

[22:23]any of you have seen for example the movie uh The Mummy

[22:28]I don't it's a very old movie maybe 10 years ago you

[22:31]see the mummy guy in the movie I forgot his name he

[22:35]performs many magic tricks it's real it's supposedly real he reads some

[22:39]he reads certain chants and he's able to revive people from the

[22:44]dead or he's able to for example transform a human being into

[22:48]into a form of creature so this is the type of magic

[22:54]that is considered real and that is considered Haram by many of

[23:00]the so this brothers and sisters was a quick even though I

[23:04]extensively gave you all the types of magic maybe better than some

[23:08]magicians but this was just to understand what is music and what

[23:15]is not so many they consider all these four types are are

[23:18]magic and they are Haram and in a few minutes I'll speak

[23:22]about the views of some of the Contemporary they disagree they say

[23:25]no magic because even some of this is not magic and it's

[23:27]not har but before that we'll go to the third point the

[23:32]third point if you remember was does real magic exist or does

[23:37]it not exist some people they are skeptical they say real magic

[23:43]does not exist it's all fake it's all Illusions and deceit some

[23:46]people they will tell you no it does exist I've seen fan

[23:51]do this I've seen a magician do that my father told me

[23:53]this I heard a story from here or there and they believe

[23:57]that there is true magic so this is an area of controversy

[24:01]and likewise when you go and ask the themselves do you believe

[24:08]in magic is there magic or it's all fake you will find

[24:11]also disagreement I have asked some personally they say it's all fake

[24:14]I have asked other they say no there is real magic yes

[24:19]it's rare but there is real magic and they will relate to

[24:22]you some stories of true magic for example I once asked one

[24:27]of the about magic does it exist or is it all fake

[24:31]it's all a myth it's all using deceit it's all using Illusions

[24:34]this told me no of course there is Magic and he told

[24:41]me two stories about magic from his father he says my father

[24:44]who was also 50 60 years ago he went to India and

[24:49]as you know India is known it's the the country of all

[24:52]the Mysteries and the crazy things and The Magicians so his father

[24:59]went to India and he says he met an Indian magician and

[25:02]he says in front of me he would take the pit of

[25:07]the date the seed of the date he would put it in

[25:11]his in his mouth and he would take it out and it

[25:13]was true gold and he said my father he went and he

[25:17]made sure that it wasn't a game it wasn't any form of

[25:21]Deceit it wasn't any illusion he saw that it was actually gold

[25:23]he was taking the pit the seed of the date and turning

[25:28]it into gold now is this sure or not Allah but this

[25:30]view does exist or another story that he related of magic true

[25:36]magic he says that in the city of there was a magician

[25:38]also 50 60 years ago and this magician was believed to hold

[25:45]superpowers and one day there was a a problem between two people

[25:51]one person had a big big problem with another person so one

[25:54]of them he wanted to kill the other person but he didn't

[25:58]want to do it in a natural away you'd get caught he

[26:00]wanted to do it through magic so he went to that magician

[26:05]and he asked him for help he said I want a recipe

[26:09]I want a spell a chant in order for this person to

[26:11]die and this magician according to this he says that this magician

[26:17]gave him the recipe it was a very strange bizarre recipe he

[26:20]told him you I I do have a way in which this

[26:25]person will die a mysterious way but there is a recipe what

[26:27]is it he said you have to go and fight a certain

[26:30]animal I forgot what the animal was for example let's say a

[26:35]cat or a dog or something like that you have to take

[26:36]that animal and you have to kill it and then you have

[26:41]to extract the heart of that animal and before you do that

[26:43]you need a few pieces of the hair the hair of that

[26:48]person that you want to die so you bring the hair of

[26:52]that innocent victim and you place it somewhere on the floor and

[26:56]then you take out the heart of that animal and and while

[26:59]it's still dripping blood while it's still wet you hang it over

[27:05]the hair and it has to the blood has to drip over

[27:07]the hair of that victim now the blood will drip drip drip

[27:12]and while it's dripping you have to read a certain chant and

[27:17]you have to bring the name of that person that you want

[27:22]to die and as soon as that heart dries up and it

[27:25]no longer drips that person's heart will stop automat Al will stop

[27:29]through magic so the says that it's narrated in that person did

[27:35]that and he achieved his goal that person's heart automatically stopped all

[27:39]of a sudden it stopped he had absolutely no health problems and

[27:43]there was no there was no evident problem he was all by

[27:47]himself in his house all of a sudden they saw that he

[27:49]died now are these stories true or not I don't know Allah

[27:54]but however there are people that believe there is true magic and

[27:58]it's not all fake and when we go back to the Holy

[28:03]Quran the book of Allah subhanahu waala Allah subhana does speak about

[28:06]magic in numerous verses that I'll mention tomorrow inshallah he does speak

[28:13]about magic but however there is no clear indication in the Quran

[28:18]whether that magic that was practiced is real or it was fake

[28:21]there is no clear indication it's still vague yes there's magic but

[28:25]is it clear or not this is still area of dispute it's

[28:29]not clear but when we come to the I'll read you two

[28:39]about this oneith is a companion of he comes and he asks

[28:44]him about he tells him is magic real is there true magic

[28:47]and the IM tells him yes he tells him it's true there

[28:54]is true magic and magicians can hurt you don't think that it's

[29:01]all fake no they can hurt you they have the power to

[29:05]hurt you and harm you so this Hadith clearly states that there

[29:08]is true magic and there are magicians that possess this power but

[29:13]however there is another Hadith that says the opposite there's a Hadith

[29:20]that's narrated of and the Hadith says that one day an atheist

[29:26]came to IM and he asked him many questions and then he

[29:32]asked him about magic and amongst the questions that he posed the

[29:36]Imam that he posted to the Imam was what he asked him

[29:41]is magic real do you believe that there are certain magicians that

[29:44]can do real stuff or no and he asked him this he

[29:51]told him can a magician turn a human being into a dog

[29:54]or into a donkey or not this is an interesting question can

[29:59]a magician turn a human being he takes his wand and he

[30:03]says Abracadabra and all of a sudden this poor human being turns

[30:05]into a barking dog or he turns into a donkey is this

[30:12]possible or is it not the IM he tells him no this

[30:15]is not possible he doesn't have the power to do that and

[30:19]then the IM he tells him if this person had the power

[30:25]to turn a human being into an animal then this person would

[30:28]have used his powers to what to be immortal to never become

[30:35]sick why is it that you find even magicians become sick magicians

[30:38]have problems magicians many times you'll find they're poor if he had

[30:43]such superpowers why can't he use a superpowers to help himself so

[30:46]this is a clear indication according to the Imam this is a

[30:52]clear sign that you have to be careful these M magicians are

[30:53]all what scams it's all fake it's all Illusions or else if

[30:58]they truly had power they would help themselves before they would harm

[31:01]others so there's two conflicting is there real magic is there that

[31:09]like once again I say Allah only Allah subhah waala knows if

[31:13]there is true magic or there is no true magic now the

[31:18]point is brothers and sisters even if there is true magic it's

[31:21]very rare it's very very very rare most of the magic that

[31:26]we see it's from the fake magic it's the illusions and another

[31:30]important point that I have to bring to your attention is that

[31:33]there's a problem in many societies and this exists even more in

[31:38]the Middle East is that magic the idea of magic and especially

[31:45]Jin this is blown out of proportion it's exaggerated you find some

[31:49]people any problem that they have in their lives they blame it

[31:51]on what on Magic it's a spell or it's the Jin you

[31:56]go to a mother why did your son flun the flun this

[31:59]year it was a spell someone casted a spell on my poor

[32:01]son she does not realize that her son never studied that he

[32:09]was out every day with his friends and he never studied and

[32:12]that's why he flunked she doesn't want to say that she's not

[32:14]aware of that and thus she blames it on magic or she

[32:18]says it's to the Jin or many people you find in society

[32:23]they're sick especially if it's a psychological sickness if a person has

[32:28]depression right away people say what oh it's probably a gin or

[32:31]it's probably magic someone did Magic on this poor guy and that's

[32:34]why he's depressed there is no physical reason there's no for example

[32:38]medical reason no there's a gin and that's why I find many

[32:43]of these people when they want help I've seen this they come

[32:45]to the religious Scholars because they believe this has to do with

[32:51]the supernatural this has to do with Jin and they want for

[32:54]example some Dua or something to keep the Jin away or to

[32:59]you know the break the the effect of the magic most cases

[33:04]brothers and sisters our problems in our society if not all of

[33:08]them are not from Magic they're not from Jin there is Jin

[33:12]we believe there's Jin there is the devil there is Magic but

[33:16]however we're taking it out of proportion we're completely exaggerating the situation

[33:22]there these things do exist but we ourselves have problems that have

[33:26]real reasons I have depression because there's a there's a real reason

[33:31]there's a you know medical reason there's a a chemical reason there's

[33:34]something wrong in my body it doesn't have to do with the

[33:38]Jin or many people you find many women many wives are not

[33:41]able to become pregnant they blame it on the gin or they

[33:45]blame it on magic or as soon as there's a problem between

[33:47]a couple a married couple right away it's blamed on Magic this

[33:51]is wrong brothers and sisters this is the wrong mentality this shows

[33:54]that we have a very very shallow a very very super icial

[34:00]way of thinking this is a backwards way of thinking every problem

[34:03]has its roots it has its reasons I have to search I

[34:10]have to search and see what's the problem what's the reason and

[34:12]only then I'll be able to solve the problem so the next

[34:14]time I see a problem in my life I can't blame it

[34:17]on the Jin I cannot blame it on Magic even if it

[34:21]exists even if it's real that's not the root of my problem

[34:24]so this is the third point and going back to what is

[34:30]Magic and what is not magic what is halal and what is

[34:36]not Halal I said that there are two types of Magic the

[34:38]fake and we divided that into two parts and the real magic

[34:43]and we divided that into two parts and many they deem all

[34:46]of that as Haram and it's magic now when you come for

[34:50]example to contemporary contemporary for example he believes that there is no

[34:57]such thing as real magic now not that he believes that there

[35:02]is no person in this world that has superpowers no he doesn't

[35:05]say that but he says if there is someone that has superpowers

[35:11]real powers in this dun then that is not considered as magic

[35:14]when the imams speak against magic they're not speaking about anything that's

[35:19]real they're speaking about the Illusions so all the that speak negatively

[35:24]of magic this is only speaking about the fake magic because magic

[35:29]to him he defines magic as what as something that relies on

[35:35]deceit something that relies on fooling the human being and creating Illusions

[35:40]so magic means Illusions if it's real it's not magic and thus

[35:44]it's not har and that's why you find the he says that

[35:49]if you find someone that has these superpowers this is not considered

[35:54]magic and it's not Haram unless he's doing something Haram with it

[35:57]unless he's hurting people he's doing something harmful with it and likewise

[36:02]the second type of fake magic that we call slate of hand

[36:05]he says this is not Haram If someone knows how to do

[36:11]fast magic tricks using the cards this is not Haram this is

[36:13]using speed this is using the quick hands he says this is

[36:18]not Haram and he says that this is not even music this

[36:20]is not even I'm sorry magic this is called and it's not

[36:25]a part of magic unless it is used to harm someone anything

[36:28]that's used to harm someone becomes har so that's not because it's

[36:31]magic and most of our contemporary like say thean other they agree

[36:38]with him that the Slate of hands is not unless it's used

[36:41]to hurt other people and the fourth Point brother and sister remains

[36:48]where Allah subhanahu wa taala mentions where Allah subhah mentions magic in

[36:54]the Quran Allah subhah wa taala mentions it in many in many

[36:59]uh incidents in the Quran I'll speak about that tomorrow but we

[37:02]find in one story Allah subhah wa tala he speaks about magic

[37:07]and the story of harut and marut the two angels that came

[37:10]after suan I'll speak about the verses of that tomorrow in other

[37:14]verses Allah subhana speaks about the magic that existed during the time

[37:18]of prophet Musa the Sorcerers of Allah subh speaks about that and

[37:25]there are some certain other verses that speak about that speak about

[37:30]the Magic in the Quran and there are some commentators non commentators

[37:37]that have based that have based a view on certain verses and

[37:44]they conclude based on some verses that even our prophet he was

[37:49]what he was Bewitched in a certain situation and he was put

[37:56]under a magic spell and they based this on a verse of

[37:58]the Quran and inshallah we will go over that to see if
