[0:02]Alhamdulillah.
[0:23]Muhamad.
[0:29][sighs] Muhammad.
[0:41]Respected guests, scholars, my dear brothers and sisters, last night we mentioned
[1:08]that one of the most beautiful duas that we recite During the
[1:13]night of Ramadan is dua.
[1:18]Dua Abu Hamali we said is a beautiful dua that Alm Zulin
[1:26]the fourth Im of B recited during the nights of the month
[1:34]of Ramadan.
[1:36]His companion Abu Hamali who we said was one of the greatest
[1:39]companions of B.
[1:42]He was like the Salman of his time.
[1:43]His companion Abu Hamza heard this dua from Alim Zulin and he
[1:51]recorded it and narate narate narrated it for us today.
[1:57]And that's why 1,200 years later we have the privilege of hearing
[2:02]the exact words of imbu and this dua was named after this
[2:08]great man.
[2:09]Now we said narrates this hadith in his book.
[2:15]Say narrates it in his book.
[2:21]So this is a very credible dua because we find it in
[2:24]the earliest and most authentic sources of duas that we have of.
[2:30]This is exactly how they narrate Abu Hamza.
[2:34]Abu Hamza says he says Hussein the fourth im and then he
[2:49]calls him he is the master of the worshippers and this is
[2:55]one of the titles of imul he is the master of the
[3:03]worshippers and zulin the adornment of of the worshippers and he was
[3:08]called the adornment and the master of the worshippers because Alm Abadin's
[3:13]worship was like no one that you have seen and Abu Hamza
[3:21]himself explains why he is he says Ramadan he says when the
[3:32]nights of the month of Ramadan would Almad would spend the majority
[3:39]of his night in salah.
[3:41]He wasted absolutely no time of the night of the month of
[3:48]Ramadan.
[3:48]The majority of his time he was spending it in in salah.
[3:53]Exactly how we spend immedat for him.
[4:01]So he says, "I used to witness my master Imam Zul." He
[4:07]used to pray for the majority of the night.
[4:12]The Salawad and there's many of them that we are taught by
[4:16]to pray at night during the month of Ramadan.
[4:19]And then he says, "And then when came." Now who's Sahar?
[4:31]Sahar is not the name of a person.
[4:38]Sahar to some of us is a name.
[4:39]There are many sisters that I've seen throughout my life.
[4:42]Their name is Sah.
[4:45]Abu Hamza says, "And then when Sahar came," he's not speaking about
[4:49]a person.
[4:52]He's speaking about Sahar as a time of the night.
[4:56]Sah that word in Arabic it refers to a specific portion of
[5:02]the night and this portion of the night sah is the most
[5:05]sacred part of night.
[5:09]Now when exactly is this we have certain hadiths from the that
[5:13]tell us the last third portion of the night is sah.
[5:17]So if you divide the night by three, the last third portion
[5:22]and there are some hadiths that state the second entire half of
[5:27]the night all of that is called sah.
[5:29]So any time after 1:00 a.m.
[5:35]2:00 a.m.
[5:33]until which is almost 6 a.m.
[5:39]these days this is called sahar.
[5:42]Now what's so special about sahar?
[5:44]Abu Hamza says im used to wait until it was late at
[5:51]night after one after two and then once would start.
[5:58]He says I would see imbed recite this dua dua.
[6:02]Now why did I iman wait until sah late at night the
[6:09]third portion or the second half of the night to recite dua
[6:15]the reason my dear brothers and sisters is because sah as I
[6:21]said is a time of dua it's a time of supplication to
[6:26]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala it's the best time to worship Allah subhanahu
[6:30]wa ta'ala there's a hadith that is narrated from Sai wasallam.
[6:35]The prophet is narrated saying that every night Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[6:41]sends down an angel, a special angel.
[6:44]He comes from the heavens down to the earth.
[6:48]He comes down when Sahar starts.
[6:54]So 1:00 a.m.
[6:54]2:00 a.m.
[6:57]sometime there.
[6:56]And he starts to speak.
[7:00]He makes a call all the way until once happens, he goes
[7:03]back to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[7:08]What does he say?
[7:08]Allah says, this angel says this.
[7:14]He speaks on behalf of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[7:17]Is there anyone that has a haj that has a wish so
[7:22]that I can grant you your wish?
[7:27]For Allah has sent me to grant the wishes, the hajat of
[7:30]those that ask Allah, but only during this time.
[7:34]Now, the problem is that's when we're deeply asleep from 1:00 a.m.
[7:40]2:00 a.m.
[7:42]until 5:30 6:00 a.m.
[7:43]We're sleeping during those 3 4 hours every single night.
[7:48]But this angel every night he is saying if you have a
[7:51]haja come now because Allah has sent me so that I can
[7:56]grant you your hajat.
[7:55]And that's why I imbakam used to say if you have a
[8:02]haj you have a wish you're in need of something for example
[8:05]you have a difficult exam coming up for example you're trying to
[8:11]sell your house you're trying to buy a house you're trying to
[8:15]get married you're trying to get into a university whatever it is
[8:19]that you are in need of im used to say that make
[8:28]sure you Ask Allah and you do dua during sahar time because
[8:33]the imam says it's during sah time that the gates of heaven
[8:40]of Allah open.
[8:38]Allah opens the gates of heaven meaning Allah tells you that I
[8:45]am waiting for you.
[8:46]Ask me and I will give you.
[8:47]The gates of heaven open during sah.
[8:51]The Imam says, "And Allah distributes his during sah." If you're looking
[8:58]for a job, if the job isn't doing so well, the business
[9:00]is struggling.
[9:01]The Imam says, "During Sah time, turn to Allah." This is when
[9:06]Allah makes the decisions for what is given on that day.
[9:12]During Sah time, the next following day.
[9:15]And the imam says during sah is when the big hajat when
[9:18]the big wishes of people and needs are granted by Allah and
[9:22]fulfilled.
[9:23]So if you have a haj brothers and sisters if you have
[9:29]a need and im bakr says wake up in the middle of
[9:34]the night yeah disrupt your sleep prevent deny yourself from the comfort
[9:38]of sleep.
[9:38]Why?
[9:38]So you show Allah that you're serious.
[9:41]You show Allah subhana wa ta'ala, ya Allah, I left the most
[9:48]comfortable time of my sleep at 3:00 a.m.
[9:50]and I left my bed and I came because I am in
[9:57]need of you, ya Allah.
[9:58]Sit down with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala when everybody's sleeping, it's dark,
[10:02]it's quiet, you know, you're not going to get text messages.
[10:07]At least you won't get any phone calls during 3 4:00 a.m.
[10:13]and ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala with full sincerity, with full humility
[10:18]because now you're showing Allah that I'm serious, ya Allah.
[10:21]I'm depriving myself the comfort of sleep and I am coming and
[10:29]asking you for this.
[10:29]Wallah brothers and sisters if you go to Allah during the time
[10:34]of sah and you show him that you are serious and that
[10:37]you are really in need Allah will not disappoint you Allah subhanahu
[10:43]wa ta'ala will give you your haj so the time of Allah
[10:46]says is a time of dua the angel says ask me Allah
[10:52]has opened his doors don't sleep the entire time and then the
[10:57]prophet says that Allah subhaha orders the same angel to say, [clears
[11:05]throat] "Is there anyone that wants to repent to Allah at this
[11:14]time?
[11:15]Is there anyone that is looking for forgiveness?
[11:18]Is there anyone that is burdened by their sins and wants Allah
[11:23]to forgive them?
[11:22]For now is the time that Allah is extra generous.
[11:26]He will easily forgive you.
[11:28]No questions asked.
[11:30]Allah will be lenient during the time of Sahar.
[11:34]And that's why one of the greatest qualities of the mut brothers
[11:39]and sisters the mut the pious those that believe in Allah those
[11:43]that fear Allah subhanana wa ta'ala according to the Quran is that
[11:46]they do they seek forgiveness in the during the time of Allah
[11:56]subhana wa ta'ala mentions this in he mentions five qualities of the
[12:03]The the verse speaks about the and then Allah subhana wa ta'ala
[12:07]mentions five qualities of the how many of these qualities do I
[12:14]have that's how you can self evaluate yourself Allah says after that
[12:20]after he speaks about the he mentions five qualities he says number
[12:24]one they are patient when calamity falls when life becomes difficult they
[12:30]are patient and And they ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for help.
[12:35]And then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala after says and those that are
[12:44]sincere, truthful in front of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[12:49]What is in their heart is their true essence.
[12:49]They don't have an exterior that is different than their interior.
[12:56]Those that are devout, those that are consistent, they're always devout to
[13:03]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[13:06]Not only when they feel spiritual, not only during the month of
[13:11]Ramadan or they are devout to Allah all the time.
[13:18]those that give charity, give and then the fifth of those qualities
[13:26]or and those that seek forgiveness from Allah during the time of
[13:35]Sahar which shows you that forgiveness in itself is good but if
[13:39]you want to make your forgiveness more effective then make sure you
[13:44]ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to forgive you during the time of
[13:46]the last portion of the night, those couple of hours before for
[13:52]this makes you a this is one of the quality qualities of
[13:56]a believer of someone who is pious and sallallam explains in one
[14:03]hadith that if you make this a habit to ask Allah for
[14:06]forgiveness during the time of Sahar, not only does Allah forgive you
[14:13]of your previous sins, Allahel provides you with protection from haram for
[14:19]the next days because some people will repent to Allah but then
[14:24]the next day the next week they'll go right back to haram.
[14:28]So when we ask Allah for forgiveness, we don't want him just
[14:31]to fix the past.
[14:34]We want him to give us a solution for the future so
[14:36]that I can stay away from the haram.
[14:39]Sai wasallam says three groups of people Allah will protect them from
[14:47]the shaitan.
[14:45]He will give you tawa.
[14:48]He will help you in staying away from the shaitan.
[14:50]The first he says are those that constantly remember Allah.
[14:55]When you remember Allah on your tongue and on your mind and
[14:58]your heart, not just remember him on your tongue.
[15:02]When you remember Allah, the shaitan cannot come to you.
[15:04]He cannot whisper to you.
[15:08]This is a shield around you that prevents him from whispering in
[15:11]your heart.
[15:13]Number two, those that weep, those that shed tears because of their
[15:17]fear of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[15:19]Have we ever experienced that, brothers and sisters?
[15:21]There is nothing that comes close to the pleasure of when your
[15:27]heart feels so humble before Allah that you start crying.
[15:31]This is what I im Ali used to do at night when
[15:36]everyone was sleeping.
[15:38]He used to go to the mahab and he used to worship
[15:40]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala supplicate to him mai mai while his tears
[15:45]would come down such that his beard would be completely drenched with
[15:51]his tears.
[15:53]This was Im Ali.
[15:55]So this is the second group and the third group that Allah
[16:02]says they will receive protection from the shan is Those that seek
[16:09]forgiveness during Allah doesn't just forgive the past.
[16:14]Allah provides them protection for the future.
[16:15]Soar during the time of brothers and sisters has many benefits that
[16:24]other times of the day may not give you those benefits.
[16:26]And one of the beautiful hadiths of Im Ali shows us that
[16:34]the ones who do during the time of Sah not only is
[16:42]that a blessing for them but they they serve as a blessing
[16:45]for the entire people of the earth.
[16:48]It's a beautiful hadith.
[16:50]Imam Ali says in one hadith that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says
[16:57]so I im Ali mentions a hadith a divine hadith he's quoting
[17:01]Allah Imam Ali says if it wasn't for three groups of people
[17:05]I would bring down my punishment on earth because sometimes you really
[17:11]wonder how is Allah so patient when there is so much zulum
[17:17]in this world when you see all of the killing things and
[17:20]all of the violence and all of the oppression and tyranny and
[17:24]injustice that's happening.
[17:27]How is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala not bringing down hisab on the
[17:31]people of the earth and the majority of the people on earth
[17:34]even though they are not participating but they don't do anything to
[17:41]try to stop this that is happening we saw what happened in
[17:44]what happened in Lebanon what happened in Yemen what is happening every
[17:48]day we don't know when we're going to wake up and a
[17:52]new war is going to start for what for nothing for what
[17:58]benefit the most clear example of aggression and is what the US
[18:02]wants to do right now to Iran.
[18:03]Why?
[18:03]What did they do to you?
[18:06]This is what happens when a country has too much money, too
[18:11]much power.
[18:11]The Quran says when you see yourself as a superpower, you start
[18:17]picking on other countries.
[18:18]You don't know what to do.
[18:20]You don't know what else to do with your time, with your
[18:23]money, with your resources.
[18:24]Let me just go and invade other countries, kidnap leaders of other
[18:28]countries and bring them here.
[18:31]Let me go and and start a war with other countries when
[18:33]there are so many people that are living under the poverty line
[18:39]here in the US.
[18:39]And we saw with these files, the Epstein files, how corrupt, not
[18:44]just this government, how corrupt all these Western governments are and all
[18:49]these elites, how they're all in on it together.
[18:51]And we saw how they tried to cover up all their crimes
[18:56]that they were committing.
[18:59]One wonders why is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala so tolerant and the
[19:05]believers are suffering.
[19:09]Says Allah says if it wasn't for three groups I would have
[19:14]brought my adab upon the dunya.
[19:16]But because of these three groups, Allah says that I'm keeping my
[19:19]cool.
[19:20]Allah says that I will be tolerant.
[19:23]So these individuals serve as a blessing for everyone.
[19:30]The first group says those that love others for the sake of
[19:35]Allah.
[19:36]When you show someone love, not because he's a family member, not
[19:41]because he's a friend, not because they did something good and I'm
[19:47]trying to repay them.
[19:47]When you show an act of love and kindness to someone for
[19:52]the sake of Allah, meaning you will not benefit from it.
[19:55]You're doing it purely for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[19:59]I'm sitting, I see there there isn't too much space.
[20:03]a random person that I've never met.
[20:06]I tell him I sit smaller and I allow him to sit
[20:08]next to me, a charity that I give to someone that I
[20:12]don't know.
[20:14]Even something as simple as smiling in the face of a stranger.
[20:18]This, brothers and sisters, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, "If it wasn't
[20:22]for these small acts of kindness and love, why would I want
[20:26]to keep this earth when it's filled with so much injustice and
[20:29]tyranny?" Why?
[20:30]This is the first group.
[20:32]So don't underestimate, brothers and sisters, even the small acts of kindness
[20:36]that you do in your life.
[20:41]Allah notices them.
[20:40]He watches you.
[20:42]And it's because of these small acts, Allah says, you know what?
[20:46]There's still good people on earth.
[20:47]I don't want to ruin and destroy this earth.
[20:50]I don't want to send a flood like I did with the
[20:54]people of N and just take everybody by the flood.
[20:56]Allah subhana wa ta says, I will be patient.
[20:58]This is the first group.
[21:02]The second group I imbal says those that maintain the mosques of
[21:06]Allah.
[21:08]This is the exact hadith of Allah says if it wasn't for
[21:16]people that maintain my houses the houses of Allah I wouldn't want
[21:19]this dunya to continue.
[21:19]But Allah then sees there are so many sincere people.
[21:23]They're not too many but there are enough of them that maintain
[21:27]Allah's houses.
[21:29]They maintain them through their time.
[21:31]They maintain them through their donations, their they maintain the massagid through
[21:38]volunteering, preparing, organizing, making sure that these massagid are sustainable.
[21:44]Brothers and sisters, Allah said it's because of these people that the
[21:48]other individuals get to enjoy this dunya.
[21:50]They take time from their business, from their work to come to
[21:56]the masjid to make sure that the masjid m is wellmaintained.
[21:58]They've supported financially, emotionally with their attendance.
[22:01]One of them as one of the things that will complain to
[22:07]Allah subhana wa ta'ala on the day of judgment is a masjid
[22:09]that no one prays in.
[22:11]You come to a masjid and no one is praying there.
[22:12]Allah says it's because of these people that are maintaining the massid.
[22:15]I show mercy to everyone.
[22:19]And number three says the third group of people that through them
[22:23]I protect the people on earth is those that seek forgiveness from
[22:31]Allah in the time of Allah says it's because of you that
[22:35]I become more tolerant and patient.
[22:37]So this shows you how important and significant the time of Sah
[22:44]is.
[22:44]The time of Sah is the most sacred time of the night.
[22:46]The nights of the month of Ramadan are the greatest nights of
[22:52]the year.
[22:51]Imagine what you get if you put these together.
[22:54]If you turn to Allah to ask for forgiveness, to ask him
[23:00]for your hajat DURING THE SAH OF THE month of Ramadan, do
[23:03]you see how it compounds each other?
[23:06]Not only is it the nights of Ramadan that Allah said it's
[23:11]the time of you cannot find a time that's greater than the
[23:16]nights than the last portion of the night during the month of
[23:19]Ramadan.
[23:22]He used to reserve this last portion of the night for this
[23:29]beautiful dua dua Abu Hamza.
[23:30]And that's why this dua is so effective.
[23:32]That's why this dua is so important.
[23:35]My dear brothers and sisters, the imam chose the most important time
[23:38]of his 24 hours.
[23:41]And he's like, I will recite this dua dua in that last
[23:46]hour or two before.
[23:48]And subhan Allah, what an unbelievable dua.
[23:50]What a legacy this dua has afterm.
[23:56]So during this month of Ramadan, brothers and sisters, try to sit
[24:01]down and read even if one minute, two minutes, 3 minutes of
[24:04]dua, but doing do it during the time of those last couple
[24:07]of hours of the night.
[24:10]So now that we understand the origins of this dua, where it
[24:14]comes from, when it was recited, why we recite it at night,
[24:20]now let's delve into the dua itself.
[24:21]I mentioned last night that dua Abu Hamza is one of the
[24:29]longer duas of but it's also one of the most transformative duas
[24:35]of it has the potential to completely change your life such that
[24:41]we said if you read it once with sincerity humility it can
[24:45]completely change your life take you out of the world of sins
[24:49]and put you on the track of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala It
[24:53]has the potential to reshape how you see sins, how you see
[24:59]Allah, how you view the repentance.
[25:02]It's truly a transformational dua dua Abuhami.
[25:08]For the last couple of years, I taught a course by the
[25:14]name of practical.
[25:15]Practical Aran is basically how to get in spiritual shape, how to
[25:21]get closer to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[25:24]What's the steps?
[25:24]What are the stations that you have to go to that you
[25:29]have to seek in order to seek closeness to Allah?
[25:34]This is called practical and there's many stations in this course that
[25:38]we discussed.
[25:40]Subhan Allah.
[25:42]In every station that I would come to when I wanted to
[25:45]prepare for that course, I would find myself coming to dua, I
[25:50]would find this dua having multiple examples for every station, every spiritual
[25:58]need that you can imagine.
[25:59]There was not a single course that I could teach without going
[26:06]back to dua.
[26:07]It's a university brothers and sisters in disciplining the neps in reaching
[26:14]the high stages close to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and that's why
[26:20]it is said that many of the of our scholars who became
[26:26]they used to recite passages of dua in their in their salah
[26:34]inat because you cannot reach Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala You cannot cleanse
[26:40]your nes without Im and this beautiful dua.
[26:44]Any type of spiritual problem you have, the Imam shows you how
[26:49]to treat it, how to diagnose it.
[26:51]He shows you the beautiful steps in this dua.
[26:55]It's an entire university.
[26:55]It's an entire course.
[26:59]It's not just a dua.
[26:59]And that's why I said it can potentially change your life.
[27:04]This is how beautiful dua Abu Hamza tamali is.
[27:06]It teaches you how to turn your heart to Allah, how to
[27:12]feel Allah, how to live with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[27:14]And only someone like Ali Abdul Hussein, I imbed the power to
[27:21]do that.
[27:22]And he gave us this beautiful dua.
[27:24]It's an all-in-one encompassing dua.
[27:26]Any spiritual need you have, go to dua Abu Hamza.
[27:31]If you feel burdened by your sins, the Imam shows you how
[27:35]to repent to Allah in dua Abu Hamza.
[27:36]If you feel distant from Allah, he shows you how to start
[27:43]speaking to him.
[27:42]If you feel that you don't have a strong relationship with Allah
[27:48]and you don't know what to say, the imam through his eloquent
[27:51]words, he teaches you how to speak to Allah.
[27:54]If you cannot see Allah's grace on your life, you don't see
[27:59]Allah's the imam opens your eyes to Allah's benefactions in this dua.
[28:05]If you cannot see Allah's love for you in this dunya, some
[28:08]people they ask, "How do I know Allah loves me?
[28:11]Where is Allah's mercy and love in my life?" The imam, he
[28:16]opens your eyes.
[28:15]He shows you that even when you're suffering, Allah loves you and
[28:20]is merciful with you.
[28:21]Even when you are disobeying Allah, when you're sinning, Allah is still
[28:26]merciful with you.
[28:28]We never think about this.
[28:29]Even when I'm sinning, I immediataw's mercy is so evident.
[28:35]And he does all of that through this dua that takes maybe
[28:39]an hour, hour, 10 minutes, but it's truly a masterpiece in disciplining
[28:43]van.
[28:44]And it's also a lesson in in our belief system theology.
[28:51]It teaches you to Allahawel [snorts] complete reliance on Allah.
[28:56]It teaches you to put your hope in only Allah not in
[28:58]the duny because if you put your hope in the dunya you
[29:02]will be disappointed.
[29:03]But if you put your hope in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you
[29:07]will never ever be disappointed.
[29:10]How many of the beautiful passages of dua does focus on hope?
[29:17]Even though I am burdened with so many sins.
[29:20]I'll speak more about this tomorrow night.
[29:23]Even though ya Allah I feel as if I am light years
[29:26]separated from you but still I never lose hope in you.
[29:33]Ya Allah my hope is always in you that you will forgive
[29:37]me.
[29:36]It's very beautiful brothers and sisters.
[29:39]It's an unbelievable dua.
[29:41]So now that we understand what a treasure Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[29:48]has given us through Almad I'd like to discuss some of the
[29:56]passages of dua but first I immediat Hamza in this way.
[30:16]You have goosebumps when you read the duas of it's the first
[30:21]part of dua Abu Hamza.
[30:27]Allah I ask you not to discipline me through punishment.
[30:32]What does the imam mean by that?
[30:36]It's a whole lesson.
[30:36]A whole lesson in just three words, four words.
[30:40]The Imam says that we human beings need discipline.
[30:44]We have to discipline our nefs.
[30:46]And here there's two types of people.
[30:50]There's one type that learns that disciplines themselves the easy way through
[31:01]reminders, through stories, through reflection, listening to the advice of others, through
[31:07]these gentle reminders and advice.
[31:10]They learn to discipline their nefs the easy way.
[31:15]And then there's another type of person who will never heed, who
[31:22]will never change, who will never discipline themselves unless they are taught
[31:28]the hard way, unless they are broken.
[31:34]You see, even with our physical health, sometimes we heed to the
[31:43]warnings of our doctors.
[31:43]Your doctor tells you look if you continue in this lifestyle this
[31:49]is what you eat you're smoking you don't exercise eventually you're going
[31:55]to suffer my family members tell me my friends tell me right
[31:59]the easy way but I don't heed what happens when I don't
[32:03]heed when I don't listen the easy way one day I'm struck
[32:10]with a heart attack and then after the heart attack I become
[32:13]someone who is very very careful about my health.
[32:17]I learned but I learned the hard way.
[32:21]He tells Allah ya Allah I acknowledge that my naps my soul
[32:28]also has to be healthy.
[32:29]I have to take care of it.
[32:33]Not just your body.
[32:32]Go to the gym take care of your body.
[32:35]But you also have to take care of your navs.
[32:38]The imam says because my navs can have ego.
[32:41]My navs can have arrogance.
[32:41]My navs can be sick with what?
[32:44]With animosity, with envy, with hatred.
[32:47]These are all viruses and sicknesses of the navs.
[32:52]The Imam acknowledges this.
[32:53]But then he says, "Ya Allah, please allow me to learn to
[33:02]treat my navs the easy way through the Quran, through advice of
[33:07]my friends and family members, the easy way.
[33:10]Because if I don't learn the easy way, then Allah will come
[33:15]and teach me the hard way.
[33:17]But it's not because Allah hates me.
[33:18]It's because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wants me to take care of
[33:24]my spiritual health.
[33:24]You see, how many reminders does Allah give us in our lives?
[33:30]How many?
[33:29]Allah sends you a good friend.
[33:34]That friend tells you, "Let's go to J." That friend tells you,
[33:37]"Let's go listen to the lecture.
[33:38]Let's go and pray.
[33:41]Let's not listen to music.
[33:43]Your parents reminding you of your obligations of your wajabat.
[33:46]Don't do this.
[33:48]Don't do that.
[33:48]These are all reminders that Allah sends you.
[33:51]A family member or a community member, someone in the community dies.
[33:56]This is a warning, a message to me.
[33:59]It's a gentle reminder that today it's him.
[34:02]Tomorrow it's you.
[34:02]Wake up.
[34:03]This dunya isn't going to continue forever.
[34:06]Are you doing anything for your Allah sends me so many gentle
[34:10]reminders in my life?
[34:13]What happens when I ignore all these reminders?
[34:16]When the dunya is just too strong and it's I'm sucked into
[34:23]the dunya and I don't see any of these reminders and I
[34:26]don't change.
[34:27]You know what Allah does then?
[34:29]Because Allah sees you drifting too much.
[34:31]He wants you to come back to him.
[34:33]HE'S CALLING YOU BUT YOU'RE DEAF.
[34:35]You don't listen because the music is too loud.
[34:39]You're not going to hear the adan.
[34:41]When I am heedless to Allah's gentle reminders, this is when Allah
[34:45]sends me a much more powerful shocking reminder.
[34:50]Something that will shake me to my core.
[34:55]A family member dies.
[34:54]My son dies.
[34:57]One of my parents dies.
[34:58]I'm afflicted with a disease.
[35:02]May Allah protect you from all of these.
[35:04]A relationship, a big important relationship in my life breaks.
[35:10]I lose my job.
[35:09]And this is when I wake up.
[35:13]This is when I wake up.
[35:14]Does Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala hate me?
[35:15]I ask him why.
[35:17]Allah says, because you wouldn't listen any other way.
[35:19]Because any other way I tried to bring you to me.
[35:24]You were heatless.
[35:23]You were sleeping.
[35:25]I don't want to lose you.
[35:26]Because I loved you.
[35:29]I took away this and that from you because it was because
[35:32]it was keeping you busy because it was taking you away from
[35:39]me.
[35:40]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells you and imam explains this in a
[35:43]hadith.
[35:44]He says if it wasn't for pain if it wasn't for pain
[35:49]we human beings would never turn to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[35:52]It's in times of pain and suffering that we turn to Allah.
[35:56]He says look at the one who's suffering.
[35:58]The one who has pain, who's weak, he turns to Allah.
[36:03]He becomes soft.
[36:02]He becomes charitable.
[36:05]He becomes religious.
[36:05]He starts coming to the massagid.
[36:07]How many people have I witnessed in my life?
[36:11]They had a life far from Allah subhanana wa ta'ala.
[36:16]But once Allah afflicted them, whether it was with a disease, whether
[36:20]it was they went to jail, whether it was they lost a
[36:21]close family member, they had a near life exp near death experience,
[36:29]they woke up, they became religious.
[36:32]You start seeing them at every you start seeing them becoming more
[36:35]active in the community.
[36:38]They become a volunteer.
[36:37]That suffering, that pain was the biggest blessing in their life.
[36:43]You see how im just with one line.
[36:48]Not only is he telling us what to ask Allah, ya Allah,
[36:54]allow our hearts to be soft, so our hearts can accept the
[36:58]gentle reminders.
[37:00]Because when my heart becomes hard, the gentle reminders of Allah will
[37:06]not penetrate my heart and Allah will have no choice but to
[37:12]wake me up the difficult way.
[37:14]Ya Allah, don't wake me up the difficult way, but I have
[37:16]to heed.
[37:17]I have to open my eyes and open my ears to Allah's
[37:22]gentle reminders.
[37:23]So, not only is the imam teaching you how to do dua,
[37:26]it's an entire lesson in the problem of evil.
[37:31]Why do we suffer in life?
[37:32]There you have it.
[37:35]Imam gives you an answer in this small passage.
[37:38]Allah makes you suffer in this life sometimes because that's the only
[37:44]way that you'll turn to him or else you'll always be busy
[37:47]with the dunya and Allah has no other way to bring you
[37:50]but this is an effective way that brings you so this is
[37:55]how immedi a thousand years I would never know how to speak
[38:03]to Allah in this way in this eloquent way and it's so
[38:08]concise And then the Imam continues.
[38:15]He says, "Ya Allah, and do not allow me to be misled
[38:22]by your divine plotting." Now, what does this mean?
[38:26]You see, many times we human beings, we're not infallibles.
[38:30]We sin.
[38:31]We commit haram.
[38:34]We disobey Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[38:36]And when we sin, there's two types of people here.
[38:38]There are individuals who after they sin, they feel guilty.
[38:44]They feel guilty that I sinned while Allah was watching me.
[38:50]I sinned with the resources that Allah gave me instead of using
[38:56]them for good.
[38:56]I use them to disobey Allah.
[39:00]So they feel within them that guilt and that guilt leads them
[39:04]to what?
[39:05]to repenting.
[39:06]That's one type of person.
[39:09]Those are the lucky human beings that feel guilty after they commit
[39:13]a sin.
[39:14]And then there's everybody else who when they sin, they don't feel
[39:23]guilty.
[39:22]When they sin, they notice that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala doesn't punish
[39:30]them.
[39:30]They engage in haram business.
[39:33]They rip somebody off.
[39:35]They wake up the next day.
[39:38]Alhamdulillah, everything's fine.
[39:39]Allah is not bringing down his punishment upon me.
[39:43]They listen to something haram.
[39:44]They eat some something haram.
[39:45]They, you know, hurt somebody's feelings.
[39:48]And they notice that Allah subhanana wa ta'ala is not retaliating.
[39:53]Allah doesn't retaliate.
[39:56]Why?
[39:56]Because he's merciful.
[39:57]Because he's tolerant.
[39:59]He wants to give you a chance to repent.
[39:59]He's not going to strike you down as soon as you commit
[40:03]a sin because he wants to give you a second chance.
[40:08]I'll wait to see if you repent.
[40:09]If you don't, and the next life I'll judge you.
[40:12]But what happens with us human beings when we see the sky
[40:15]is clear.
[40:16]It's not falling down.
[40:17]When there is no punishment after some of the sins that I
[40:20]do, I say, "Oh, okay.
[40:25]Everything is good.
[40:24]God is happy with me.
[40:28]I think that I'm safe.
[40:29]I am misled into thinking that everything is good.
[40:33]So what do I do?
[40:36]I do more haram and more haram and more haram.
[40:37]So Allah's tolerance because he's tolerant with me leads me to sinning
[40:42]more.
[40:44]So I am misled.
[40:46]Allah is not telling me look I'm happy with you.
[40:49]Go and I'm I' I've approved what you're doing.
[40:52]Go and sin more and more.
[40:53]No.
[40:54]Allah is saying, "I'm being patient with you, tolerant so that you
[40:58]can ask for forgiveness and repent, but I misunderstand." Imam says, "Ya
[41:07]Allah, if I see that you're not punishing me, please, ya Allah,
[41:15]I hope it's not a sign of disapproval.
[41:17]I hope that I'm not misunderstanding the sign as you're happy with
[41:23]me.
[41:23]Maybe it's just you're waiting for me to repent.
[41:27]So I hope I don't get lost in that miscommunication.
[41:30]Maddis in one hadith he says if Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala loves
[41:40]someone what does he do?
[41:40]He says if you sin he makes you suffer after that.
[41:45]He makes you feel pain after that.
[41:48]Why?
[41:49]Because that suffering will remind you of Allah and you'll repent.
[41:51]Allah loves you.
[41:53]Why do why am I suffering?
[41:54]Allah wants you to remember him.
[41:56]And the only way you're going to remember him is if you
[42:00]suffer.
[42:00]And then the imam says, "And when Allah doesn't love someone, when
[42:04]Allah forsakes someone, you know what he does?
[42:08]He sins, she sins, and then Allah sends him a gift, a
[42:11]blessing after that.
[42:14]That blessing will make him or her forget about repentance." And they
[42:18]think Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is happy with them.
[42:21]They committed a sin.
[42:21]The next day, alhamdulillah, the business is making more money.
[42:27]Does that mean Allah is happy with you?
[42:30]No.
[42:31]Immad says, "Allah is putting bait for you because you're just going
[42:35]to be distracted from repenting to Allah." And then he even refers
[42:40]to the Quran.
[42:44]He mentions this verse where Allah says, "For some people, Allah leads
[42:48]them on.
[42:47]He wheels them in.
[42:49]He gives you so many good things in life.
[42:52]You think it's because Allah loves you.
[42:54]No.
[42:54]Allah is distracting you with these good things.
[42:56]Meaning with money, with a big family, with all these connections and
[43:03]power that I have, but it's really just a big distraction from
[43:06]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[43:10]So in this beautiful dua he says please ya Allah do not
[43:17]allow me to be distracted through your do not allow your blessings
[43:21]to be a curse upon me because they make me forget about
[43:32]you.
[43:28]And then the imam after that he says this is one of
[43:36]the most notable parts of the dua in the beginning of the
[43:42]dua Abu Hamza says I saw im call out yi my lord
[43:44]and he didn't say it once or three times or 10 times
[43:49]he said im said until he lost his breath How many times
[44:00]can you say before you lose your breath?
[44:02]20 30 40 and when you read dua Abu Hamza do it
[44:07]in that way.
[44:05]Say until you lose you run out of breath.
[44:10]Why does imbin?
[44:11]Why does he do that?
[44:15]The imam is trying to show you how much we are in
[44:19]need of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[44:20]That even for my breath when I want to breathe I need
[44:26]Allahawel.
[44:26]Even when I want to breathe, I need Allahawel.
[44:28]So as long as I am breathing, ya Allah, I will say
[44:34]because as long as I breathe, I will need you.
[44:37]What a beautiful lesson he teaches you just by saying.
[44:41]There's a hadith from imam in the hadith the imam says whoever
[44:52]says until he runs out of breath allahawel will reply to you
[44:58]and tell you will tell you yes what do you want ask
[45:03]me and I will give you so this is a beautiful habit
[45:08]of a believer that when you have a haja show Allah that
[45:13]you're so desperate that you're so in need that even in your
[45:16]breath you're in need of Allah.
[45:17]I will say y until I can no longer say y because
[45:22]I have to breathe and if I didn't have to breathe I
[45:28]would continue saying yi even longer.
[45:30]What a beautiful lesson Immad teaches us in this.
[45:36]The Imam continues in every line brothers and sisters there is a
[45:40]beautiful lesson.
[45:41]Tomorrow night inshallah I will inshallah focus on the passages and the
[45:47]parts of dua Abu Hamza that the imam teaches for repentance.
[45:56]Alm teaches us how to repent through dua.
[46:00]Tomorrow night I willshallah discuss that and we will end this series
[46:05]discussing the beautiful dua of Abu Hamza Tamali.
[46:09]Now inshallah we can open our hearts to alad reciting some more
[46:15]passages for 20 minutes of dua.
[46:18]May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala accept all our may Allah open our
[46:25]hearts to the beautiful reminders and words of Alfa.
