'Am I using the wrong Turbah (Mohr)?'

The turbah is used by Shi'a Muslims in prayer. But could they be using the wrong ones? What happens if it breaks or someone like a child takes it away in prayer? Sheikh Mohammed Al-Hilli answers these and more.

[0:03][Music] am i allowed to pray using a turba like this what

[0:12]happens if it breaks during salah what should i do if someone

[0:16]like a child takes the turba away whilst i'm praying can i

[0:22]pray on a turba that has names printed on it let's look

[0:25]at answers to these questions briefly based on the opinion of his

[0:31]eminence [Music] after a period of using a torba a black or

[0:41]dark layer is usually formed due to dirt or shedding of skin

[0:45]it is not permissible to do sajdah on this turba in salah

[0:50]we need to clean it using water or by scraping it and

[0:55]removing the layer or disposing of it if it is the turbo

[1:02]um it should be respectfully disposed by either burial dissolving in water

[1:07]or placing in a river for example that is not a problem

[1:16]and salah is valid just make sure the head is not moving

[1:19]during sajdah and especially when the obligatory vicar is being recited i

[1:29]know many parents will agree this actually happens from time to time

[1:33]if they have small children here we have two options number one

[1:38]just continue the salah and instead we do such deposition on any

[1:45]part of clothing we're actually wearing like for example the sleeves or

[1:48]if not possible then the carpet or the back of the hand

[1:53]now some people unfortunately mistakenly have suggested we can use the nails

[1:57]this is not true and it's actually fake news we also have

[2:02]an option number two of terminating the salah and starting again this

[2:09]time making sure we have the torba secured for example by holding

[2:12]it in our hands [Music] sometimes we see turbos like these being

[2:20]sold in places like karbala or mashhad it may have glorious names

[2:27]of allah subhanahu ta'ala or the pure masu mean peace be upon

[2:34]them according to his eminence ayatollah you can use these in salah

[2:37]but he does not recommend it he suggests using turbas which are

[2:45]clear and without names to avoid accusations and misconceptions but if you

[2:50]do end up using a turba like this with the names printed

[2:53]on it it is permissible to use the other side by flipping

[3:00]it and doing sajda on the other side [Music] in this case

[3:08]there's nothing to worry about just place the torba back on the

[3:13]ground and continue towards the second sajdah just the final additional note

[3:18]some of our sisters in salah ask whilst in sajdah their forehead

[3:24]may become covered with the hijab so it doesn't touch the turba

[3:28]is that okay well what they need to do is to gently

[3:34]lift or pull the hijab slightly whilst not moving the head away

[3:39]from the sajdah so that any part of the forehead can touch

[3:43]the turba this is of course when they're actually in sajdah itself
