[0:31]we continue our examination of the stages of the day of judgment
[0:36]and previously we stopped at the final station before entering paradise that
[0:45]station is the station of the howl we mentioned the significance of
[0:51]the health and our traditions of the bait peace be upon them
[0:55]from the prophet and the imams of albeit and now we continue
[1:02]to examine some of the specifications and characteristics of this pool this
[1:07]houth one hadith from abu dhabi he narrates it from the holy
[1:16]prophet muhammad he states so the banner of imam ali alayhi salaam
[1:27]will be present at the houth then i will take his hand
[1:35]allah will illuminate his face and the face of his companions then
[1:40]i will ask them how did you treat the two-third lane after
[1:45]me the quran and the ahle bait they will say the followers
[1:51]of imam alayhi as for the major one the holy quran we
[1:58]followed it we accepted it and we supported the minor one the
[2:06]bait peace be upon them then the prophet sallallahu alaihi states in
[2:15]that case drink from this pool of kautha and you shall never
[2:21]go thirsty after this day then the hadith states they will shine
[2:25]like the sun they will radiate like the moon and they will
[2:32]look like shining stars that will happen at the houth and another
[2:37]hadith from abu ayoubal ansari he's one of the companions of the
[2:40]prophet sallallahu alaihi he says that the prophet was asked about the
[2:44]houth the prophet said that he said now that you've asked me
[2:51]i'll let you know what it is about yes there is no
[2:57]audio okay i think it should be resolved by now so in
[3:08]this hadith of abu ayoub al-ansari he narrates the hadith from the
[3:15]prophet sallallahu alaihi about the houd he says i will inform you
[3:18]about the houth allah has given me this as a gift and
[3:23]the size of this houth is very big from ayla all the
[3:30]way to sana'a in yemen we're talking about a massive pool on
[3:34]the day of judgment how many cups does it have so you
[3:44]can drink from it as many as there are stars in the
[3:47]skies just imagine millions and billions and then the prophet sallallahu alaihi
[3:54]describes this in a very beautiful way i'll share with you the
[4:02]hadith in his description of the houd the imam says to msma
[4:05]one of his companions in this hadith that if you drink from
[4:11]this house you'll never go thirsty again you'll never experience fatigue you'll
[4:15]never experience any problems then he says the imam is saying the
[4:27]sweetness of this pool is indescribable there is nothing like it in
[4:34]its sweetness it's softer than butter the smell the aroma of it
[4:45]the scent of it is stronger than amber which is a very
[4:49]fancy important type of perfume in taste the water of this pool
[5:03]goes through paradise the waters of paradise you know normally when you
[5:10]have a river the river basically carves the ground right on the
[5:14]day of judgment the pool of khothar that's connected to the river
[5:20]of kauthar basically the floor of it is yakut it's a precious
[5:27]type of stone so basically the water in paradise it seems like
[5:31]it just flows on the ground you don't have depth in the
[5:36]ground like a normal river and the water flows the water just
[5:39]flows like on the ground you know it's it's it's not it's
[5:44]difficult to imagine but that's how it is it has containers more
[5:53]than the number of stars in the sky you can smell the
[6:00]pool of kotha from 1 000 years away imagine how massive this
[6:06]pool is then the imam alaihissalam basically describes that when the believer
[6:12]stands at the kothan and he drinks from it he says honestly
[6:14]i don't need to go to paradise this is enough for me
[6:22]it's so amazing it's so beautiful it's so aromatic i don't really
[6:26]need to go to paradise i can stay here for eternity by
[6:32]this pool so that's how amazing it is and another hadith that
[6:38]confirms the river of kauthara is connected to the pool of kothar
[6:41]this hadith from the prophet sallallahu alaihi which is narrated by athalabi
[6:46]talabi is a sunni scholar and mufasa the prophet said do you
[6:50]know what the kautha is he says it is a river in
[6:56]paradise allah has promised me that river has a house it has
[7:01]a base it has a pool and on the day of judgment
[7:05]my ummah will meet me there and then some of them will
[7:12]be denied entry into the pool area i will say this is
[7:15]my ummah the prophet will be told yeah but you don't know
[7:17]what they did after you so we find that al hawdal kauthar
[7:24]is directly connected to the river of al-qaeda salaam alaikum warahmatullah your
[7:33]love for the bait also determines on the day of judgment at
[7:38]the pool of kautha how much you'll drink from it and how
[7:40]much you'll benefit from it listen to this hadith the one whose
[7:52]heart experiences pain for a little bit you know sometimes when you
[7:58]think of how they were oppressed indeed your heart feels extreme pain
[8:03]the imam says if you experience that in this life at the
[8:20]moment when allah takes his soul disbeliever he'll find happiness in his
[8:30]soul he will be preoccupied with this happiness it will be so
[8:36]long-lasting it will last until he meets us at the house that
[8:39]means in other words the one whose heart really pains for the
[8:43]bait when they die they don't feel any pain until they go
[8:48]to the house they'll be in a continuous state of bliss and
[8:53]happiness the pool itself will rejoice and be happy when it sees
[9:03]one of our muhibs one of our lovers there at the pool
[9:07]so even the quota will be proud of the salah so it's
[9:13]a beautiful hadith in which the imam alayhi salaam continues now here
[9:18]is one very important point my dear brothers and sisters about the
[9:22]pool of al-kawthar there are many narrations in sunni sources such as
[9:27]bukhari i will share them that indicate a group of the prophet's
[9:33]companions in fact not just a group most of the prophet's companions
[9:39]will be denied entry into the pool area and to drink from
[9:48]hawalkothar and this is in bukhari so our question to other schools
[9:51]of thought is how have you maintained that all the sahaba are
[9:56]just and all of them and all of them are going to
[10:02]heaven when in your own books there are numerous hadiths that confirm
[10:06]many companions will not be allowed to come to hawa kota and
[10:14]drink from it how does that add up subhanallah the truth out
[10:17]is out there so i will mention to you a few hadees
[10:23]from bukhari hadith number one in bukhari in the chapter of tafsir
[10:28]in quran there's a chapter in bukhari that basically covers some tafsir
[10:34]of some verses 117 5 of the holy quran there is a
[10:45]verse 117 that says is having a conversation with allah wa ta'ala
[11:00]he's saying as long as i was alive amongst my people i
[11:04]was a witness but then when you lifted me you took me
[11:06]you are the shaheed over them so you know that i never
[11:10]told them to worship me that's the idea listen to this hadith
[11:15]from ibn abbas ibn abbas the cousin of the prophet in bukhari
[11:19]he says the prophet gave a sermon in the sermon he states
[11:24]that on the day of judgment you will be resurrected unclothed and
[11:31]then he continues to state that there will be a group of
[11:41]people from my um they'll be taken to the left side to
[11:49]the other side meaning they will not be allowed to come to
[11:53]the pool to go to paradise these are my companions how come
[12:02]they're being denied entry and access into the pool area ah you
[12:10]do not know what they did after you the prophet says i
[12:18]will say what jesus said oh allah as long as i was
[12:23]alive i showed them the truth after i passed away you were
[12:26]the witness i never told them to deviate like that it's their
[12:32]problem then the prophet will be told allah they turned back on
[12:43]their heels they deviated so this is a clear hadith in bukhari
[12:47]that a group of the prophet's companions will deviate and they will
[12:55]not be allowed to go to the house another hadith in bukhari
[13:02]from saad this is in the book kitab ar [Music] there's a
[13:07]chapter about the house in bukhari the prophet says in this hadith
[13:18]woman you'll meet me at the pool at the house on the
[13:24]day of judgement and if you're allowed to drink you'll never go
[13:32]thirsty then the prophet says there will be a group of people
[13:37]i know them and they know me very well they will come
[13:41]at the house but they will be blocked from reaching me well
[13:46]when i when the prophet says i know them and they know
[13:49]me that means what they are his companions another hadith in bukhari
[13:58]by abu hurairah he states that the prophet said on the day
[14:02]of judgment a group of my companions they will come but they
[14:11]will be kicked out from the houth i will say arab they
[14:18]will be i will be told no they turned on their backs
[14:21]after you they deviated and they're not qualified to enter here so
[14:27]this is another hadith here yes they're true right this is yes
[14:35]their most authentic book and it's confirming that many companions will be
[14:41]blocked from the house that means they will not enter heaven yeah
[14:45]this is a sunni source so we believe the same thing right
[14:48]yes of course we believe anyone who changed after the prophet and
[14:51]stood against the bait deliberately they will not be allowed entry into
[14:57]the hall and these are sources from sunni books that confirm this
[15:03]reality here's a final hadith there's many by the way there's tens
[15:11]of hadiths in bukhari and muslim but here's one final one that
[15:15]i'll leave you with in bukhari from abu hurairah the prophet salallahu
[15:22]alaihi states that i am basically at the houth a group of
[15:25]people they come and i know them they will be ordered to
[15:32]go to hell i will ask you know the angels where are
[15:38]you taking them and then not these are companions these are not
[15:48]some aliens from mars these are companions why why are they going
[15:52]to hell in they went back they went backwards after you they
[16:01]basically turned against your teachings at the end of the hadith here
[16:12]is the point the prophet says i see these groups of people
[16:17]being turned to hell that group of people being taken to hell
[16:22]how many of them stay and are saved the majority or the
[16:28]minority look at this word the prophet says i can only see
[16:39]that a group as big as hemel and naam are saved the
[16:44]rest are taken away according to bukhari to hell fire how many
[16:51]are saved the size of him what's hamil and nam na'am is
[16:59]the livestock right like the camels right no i'm just like the
[17:05]livestock like the camels for instance the hamel of the livestock of
[17:13]the camel r has two meanings one it's a camel who has
[17:18]no owner you know you have a shepherd that leads the animals
[17:23]an animal that has no shepherd no owner it's called hemel and
[17:30]na'am now question out of all the camels out there how many
[17:36]don't have an owner what how often do you see roaming camels
[17:40]without anyone owning them it's it's it's not that common maybe just
[17:47]a few here and there usually camels have an owner even sheep
[17:50]like have you seen a sheep without an owner usually a sheep
[17:55]has an owner has a shepherd that's the first meaning the second
[17:59]meaning of him is that when you have a flock of sheep
[18:05]for instance or a flock a herd of camel or cows there
[18:10]is a shepherd he's leading them but some of them go astray
[18:15]like they run to the right they run to the left they
[18:20]get lost they get left behind now if you have a group
[18:23]that let's say consists of a hundred sheep usually how many are
[18:28]like that they're left behind or they go to the right to
[18:30]the left just five maybe three two four five this is called
[18:36]hamel and na'am the prophet says on the day of judgment these
[18:39]people who are brought to me and they're taken to hell i
[18:43]only see the sighs of hemel and naam are saved that means
[18:50]the very minority are saved subhanallah most of his companions are going
[18:56]to have well we don't make a statement like that but basically
[19:00]it's it's very clear that those companions who disobeyed him and did
[19:05]not repent later and turned against the bait and fought the island
[19:10]bait and took the right of the albeit that's their fate yes
[19:13]so the old companions the companions that were with them yeah see
[19:17]in these hadiths the prophet says ashabi my companions he's not talking
[19:22]about future muslims he's talking about his own companions so say does
[19:27]he mean like we weren't the companions of the prophet but we
[19:30]follow him so what does he also mean that even us and
[19:34]our days that and these hadiths the prophet is talking about his
[19:38]companions and also future muslims too of course by extension but our
[19:48]observation here is those who have claimed that the companions have immunity
[19:54]all of them are good even those who stood against the bait
[19:56]all of them are you telling me what do you do with
[20:05]this hadith so many hadiths that state there are companions who will
[20:09]not be granted entry into paradise this is something very important to
[20:14]consider now one last point before we talk about heaven and entering
[20:24]paradise where is the howl where exactly is the how in terms
[20:29]of the stations of the day of judgment is it before sarat
[20:32]is that there on the surat is it after sarat one scholarly
[20:37]opinion is that it is before the sarat so that last station
[20:43]before you cross the bridge into paradise is the pool of the
[20:51]author now my objection to this opinion is that the hadiths of
[20:58]the houth indicate that those who drink they just go to heaven
[21:03]after that there's no mention of sarat afterwards and those who are
[21:08]denied entry to the house they're taken to hell so it seems
[21:11]that the houth is after sarat not before sarat in any case
[21:17]that's one scholarly opinion the second scholarly opinion is that it is
[21:22]after the bridge of salaat once you cross then the pool of
[21:28]kotha is there but there is an objection here because the threat
[21:32]is above the alpha right so these people that the hadith are
[21:36]talking about they'll be denied entry and they'll be taken to hell
[21:39]how did they cross the surat and get there because it's assumed
[21:44]that if you cross the bridge you've made it or as these
[21:48]hadiths indicate no these people come to the pool they're told go
[21:52]to hell so then what happened did they cross the salaat or
[21:56]did they not cross the salon the third opinion is that the
[22:01]house is actually one of the stages of sarat the sarat if
[22:07]you look at the hadith of the surat it's a very elaborate
[22:11]stage it's not like one quick bridge and you finish it it
[22:15]actually has stages we briefly mentioned that when we talked about sarat
[22:19]the last checkpoint at the sarat is the pool area and basically
[22:26]those who are not allowed to drink from it they fall from
[22:33]the bridge they don't make it but if you're granted the cup
[22:36]of the kotha to drink from it you can pass now remember
[22:40]don't think of the sarat as like a physical bridge right and
[22:44]logistically you're trying to figure out where is this pool on the
[22:48]bridge remember these are stations on the day of judgment and so
[22:51]a lot of it is is symbolically described right just keep that
[22:56]in mind that the day of judgment the dimensions are different on
[23:00]the day of judgment don't compare it to the worldly logistics that
[23:04]we have in any case the pool of the house seems to
[23:10]be the last station and one of the most important stations and
[23:15]the one who feeds the believers from that pool is who imam
[23:19]so check your relationship with the prophet and imam ali those two
[23:26]will be at the house the closer you are to them and
[23:29]to their teachings the more you're granted access to that pool and
[23:34]the more you become ready for paradise so now my dear brothers
[23:42]and sisters we have arrived at the gates of paradise indeed heaven
[23:46]is one of the most important things on your mind as a
[23:51]believer you work for heaven day and night so this is our
[23:56]final destination in the islamic beliefs course that we've had the last
[24:01]four years in reality this is the final destination all these beliefs
[24:05]all these theolo theological discussions that we've had that you become a
[24:10]believer you have the proper faith right all of it is for
[24:14]what what's the final destiny paradise heaven and allah created the human
[24:21]being to go to heaven that's what you're created for so it's
[24:25]very important to be more familiar with this stage and to be
[24:32]more motivated to go to the stage inshaallah let's examine some verses
[24:36]and hadiths about the significance of paradise and how the only justice
[24:42]you can do to yourself is by going to paradise one verse
[24:46]in the holy quran states raised to the mercy of allah how
[24:55]what's that final mercy has raised to that heaven that spans the
[25:05]universe it's as wide as the heavens and the earth it has
[25:10]been prepared for the muttaqien for the pious ones in the holy
[25:16]quran to work for that final destination keep that as your target
[25:22]during your lifetime you always have a target if you're in college
[25:28]you're doing your master's degree what's your target like what's the most
[25:32]important thing on your mind getting your degree if you're working for
[25:38]a career that's the most important thing on your mind making money
[25:42]raising a family you have a target you're working on a project
[25:45]you have that project on your mind as a target basically this
[25:51]verse is telling telling us that the believer he always has his
[25:56]target what paradise heaven is states the best goal to have objective
[26:07]destination is as janna's heaven and in another hadith states the one
[26:18]who achieves victory goes to heaven otherwise you've not achieved victory and
[26:22]the holy quran does consider going to heaven the greatest victory you've
[26:29]achieved victories in your life maybe in your education maybe you've had
[26:33]a fight with someone when you are younger maybe you're playing on
[26:38]a team there's all sorts of victories right what's the best victory
[26:42]allah states in suratul verse 11.
[26:52]those who believe and do good allah has granted them jannat guardians
[26:57]beneath which reverse flow vali that is the grand victory so the
[27:06]grand victory is to go to paradise because it is the safest
[27:12]place to be in that's it once you're in there's you have
[27:16]no worries is basically the house of security see before jannah there's
[27:28]no security my dear even if you're a believer now what if
[27:34]you lose your faith what if you fail your test what if
[27:39]you get sick what if you lose your money what if somebody
[27:44]dies there is no security when do you have that full security
[27:46]when you enter heaven that's it when you're there you have nothing
[27:51]to worry about for eternity can you just think of that number
[27:56]in itself in your life you have many things to worry about
[27:59]will my kids deviate or no will they create troubles for me
[28:03]or no will i see them suffer or no will i lose
[28:07]my iman or no will i lose my job or no there's
[28:10]no security in life however the only full security that you can
[28:17]find is in paradise and hence in one hadith the holy prophet
[28:21]states there is no true price for yourself and your soul except
[28:36]what paradise that means don't sell yourself for anything less than paradise
[28:39]don't settle for anything less than jannah otherwise you've done yourself a
[28:44]grand injustice and that's why imam states if you sell yourself for
[28:55]anything other than jannah for dunya for power for money for fame
[28:58]for whatever it is you've oppressed yourself because you've denied yourself eternal
[29:03]bliss see in this world if you have a business the biggest
[29:22]thing on your mind is to find a customer right isn't it
[29:26]true if you have a company you want customers you've got a
[29:32]store you want customers that's the most important thing on your mind
[29:36]and you want a good customer who pays well allah says i'm
[29:41]willing to be your customer i'll buy from you allah the king
[29:47]of the universe what do i have to sell you you're the
[29:50]king what can i give you allah says i'm willing to do
[29:57]a deal and allah has allowed himself to buy from the mu'min
[30:05]what is he by buying yourself your time and life and everything
[30:14]that you dedicate to your money in return what is he giving
[30:18]you al-janm so you have the best customer who's willing to buy
[30:27]your soul and life the imam says don't sell it to other
[30:29]than god you're destroying your own soul so the discussion of heaven
[30:38]my dear brothers and sisters is a very important discussion it's not
[30:41]unique to the religion of islam you find that all other religions
[30:47]have some sort of conception of heaven now let's specifically look at
[30:51]the abrahamic faiths judaism and christianity and let's start with judaism the
[30:59]jewish prophets meaning the prophets who had the jewish sharia prophet other
[31:04]prophets they all talked about heaven and paradise but over time what
[31:12]happened those verses in the torah about heaven were omitted why do
[31:17]you think that is the case those who played with the torah
[31:20]why did they omit clear verses about heaven what's the incentive to
[31:27]think only yes to be to think of only this dunya see
[31:33]their idea was if you promise the believers heaven you make them
[31:39]lazy they won't care about power about money it's okay just be
[31:46]good allah will give you heaven over there so how do you
[31:49]make your people powerful they control the economy they're obsessed with this
[31:53]dunya with power with manipulation how do you do that don't mention
[31:59]the achara don't mention heaven that's it it's only this life so
[32:04]work as best as you can that's why they omitted it and
[32:08]therefore you find that the hebrew bible talks about heaven there is
[32:14]a place called heaven heaven but it's not accessible to humans it's
[32:18]not a place where after you die and you're a believer you
[32:24]go to yes the hebrew bible basically talks about some prophets occasionally
[32:33]being allowed to go to heaven but not to stay there they
[32:37]just go there on a mission they hear god's you know plans
[32:43]for earth and that's it they don't go and stay there so
[32:48]there is no mention in the torah today that has been changed
[32:52]of heaven as a place where a believer goes there's no mention
[32:57]of that yes they think that the earth is eternal the messiah
[32:59]appears it's not clear what their beliefs are yes they do believe
[33:06]that god will give them a kingdom the kingdom of israel they
[33:09]do believe that but how long will that continue will it end
[33:13]one day will it not end it's not clear they don't what
[33:17]if p what if what about those who die what happens to
[33:21]them they believe in some sort of form of raja that they
[33:25]will be gathered in jerusalem when the messiah appears they'll god will
[33:29]resurrect them but they don't make any mention to heaven like what
[33:33]happens after that will you be in bliss will you live on
[33:37]earth in goodness for eternity they don't the torah does not mention
[33:41]anything about that in fact there are passages in the hebrew bible
[33:49]in the book of psalms isaiah jeremiah and others that indicate heaven
[33:56]and health will one day come to an end so even if
[33:59]they believe of that kingdom of god on earth the earth will
[34:02]come to an end even the heaven that is mentioned in the
[34:07]bible will come to an end one day so there's no conception
[34:10]of a believer going to heaven staying there for eternity that does
[34:15]not exist in the current jewish bible the torah the old testament
[34:19]they've omitted those verses that the prophets have spoken about any questions
[34:25]on that what about the new testament christianity do they believe in
[34:33]heaven yes christians do believe in heaven and the descriptions of heaven
[34:37]in the new testament are more developed than the references you have
[34:42]in the old testament but it's still vague you know the bible
[34:46]is still vague what heaven exactly is is it a spiritual experience
[34:52]does it have a physical dimension the bible is vague it's not
[34:59]that clear the current bible does not give you specifics as what
[35:02]you encounter in heaven what will heaven look like what kind of
[35:06]blessings will be there it doesn't really talk about that yes it
[35:09]does mention that the believers will go to heaven but it doesn't
[35:14]really talk about what this heaven is but jesus in the current
[35:18]bible the new testament he did tell his people that i will
[35:21]be leaving you i will go back to the father i'll prepare
[35:25]paradise for you and come back so they do believe that believers
[35:32]once they die they go to this heaven that prophet jesus prepared
[35:36]for the believers but it does not really give us much explanation
[35:44]as to what heaven is like the only religion that gives you
[35:49]detailed explanation of what you expect in heaven is the religion of
[35:52]islam in the holy quran it's very specific as to what you'll
[35:57]be wearing what kind of food you'll be eating what will it
[36:00]look like over there inshallah in the upcoming classes we'll examine the
[36:04]descriptions of heaven in the holy quran and in the hadith that's
[36:08]unique to the religion of islam no religion gives you this level
[36:13]of amazing detail so now let's start this journey of examining paradise
[36:17]let's take a tour through paradise because the holy quran talks about
[36:22]jannah it's very important for us to be familiar with it and
[36:26]hopefully that will motivate us more to work better and harder to
[36:32]achieve this final destination let's now look at the etymology of the
[36:34]word gen linguistically what does the word janna mean what's the what's
[36:43]the three-letter word of jannah no no just the three letters what's
[36:52]the root word not the meaning just the root word yeah it's
[36:58]genna with the tashdeed so if you break it up what is
[37:02]it that's the root word and then when you say it pronounce
[37:10]it becomes jen but otherwise originally it's that's the root word in
[37:15]arabic the root word genena means to conceal and that's why any
[37:22]word that's derived from jaina has the meaning of being concealed so
[37:27]one of them is what majnun why is the imagenuin called majnun
[37:32]it comes from janana because what is concealed it's like there's a
[37:37]barrier on his intellect or brain symbolically of course what's another example
[37:44]jin you know inswell jin why are the gin derived from this
[37:48]three-letter word because you can't see them they're concealed what else janine
[37:53]jeanine is the fetus why do the arabs call the janine jeanine
[37:57]from this same word because you can't see the fetus it's hidden
[38:02]from you what else janaan have you heard not jinnan jannan janan
[38:12]what does that mean in arabic heart why why do why is
[38:18]it called as such because you can't see people's hearts physically you
[38:21]can't see it and even symbolically you don't know what's in someone's
[38:25]heart right you could hide your feelings in your heart now we
[38:30]have janna janna means what janna means a garden that is so
[38:38]thick with trees and vegetation such that it's concealed you can't see
[38:44]inside if you're peeking from outside now in today's world by the
[38:53]way this is a luxury today if you go to rich neighborhoods
[38:56]one thing that you'll notice there are established trees that are very
[39:03]big and the estate can't even be seen right have you seen
[39:05]that like the very expensive homes you can't just see them from
[39:08]the street like that they're covered with trees you know how much
[39:11]value that adds to your property if you have a property like
[39:17]that that's covered by trees because it makes it special makes it
[39:19]valuable there's anticipation what's behind those trees privacy the meaning of jannah
[39:28]is a garden so thick with trees that you have that privacy
[39:33]that's why heaven is called jenna it comes from this root word
[39:37]it's concealed from you so that's the etymology of heaven now there
[39:46]is one note that we have to mention about the blessings of
[39:51]paradise before we continue with our discussion allah mentions in the holy
[39:56]quran many blessings later we'll examine them in detail the fruits that
[39:59]you eat the types of garments that you will wear the colors
[40:03]of it the silk of it the gold of it the couches
[40:06]that you will recline on all of that has been mentioned right
[40:10]the types of drinks sal sabil and zanjabil and all those you
[40:17]know drinks of paradise even the gardens that the holy quran describes
[40:21]you know a river flows beneath the garden my dear brothers and
[40:27]sisters when you hear these quranic descriptions don't take them literally in
[40:34]the sense that you picture a worldly tree or a worldly banana
[40:40]by the way the banana is mentioned in the quran it's the
[40:58]fruit of the banana the quran mentions the grapes it mentions the
[41:04]pomegranate it mentions the teen the olive it mentions the banana too
[41:09]there's many fruits that the holy quran mentions now someone will say
[41:15]okay you know i work hard just to get a a banana
[41:19]there or grapes there okay you know what's the big deal remember
[41:25]the quran is mentioning these blessings in a society that did not
[41:32]really have them a banana was a luxury back then in arabia
[41:37]the deserts of arabia where are you going to get a banana
[41:43]from even grapes they were not widely available you had to bring
[41:47]them from from some other areas basically the quran is telling you
[41:51]look it's special but you have to talk to people according to
[41:55]their mentality by the way you know i i remember when i
[41:59]was a child growing up in comb this is you know just
[42:03]20 30 years ago not that far away in the past a
[42:05]banana was a luxury didn't have it especially during the iran war
[42:10]right sometimes like once a year twice a year when they bring
[42:14]bananas in town you see the whole kids going crazy oh it's
[42:18]like gold like you're eating gold today you don't even care about
[42:24]it anymore by the way the most sold object at walmart is
[42:30]banana did you know that the most thing that people buy [Laughter]
[42:34]it's easy to eat it's it's full of nutritious value so when
[42:40]you think of these quranic descriptions number one keep in mind that
[42:46]allah is talking at the time to people who found this very
[42:50]luxurious like it's not something that they had secondly this is just
[42:57]an example of course the heavenly fruits are nothing near this this
[43:03]dunya it's just a metaphor to let you know that there will
[43:07]be a type of food over there that you've never experienced like
[43:13]in your life now because our minds are limited the quran how
[43:17]is it going to describe to us the reality of the blessings
[43:21]there we can't grasp them you can right now if you take
[43:26]out your smartphone and you show it to an arab who lived
[43:30]in seventh century arabia seriously like show him your iphone what does
[43:37]he know what the iphone is like you're describing it it's a
[43:45]black um rock seriously it's a it's a black you know block
[43:50]that's all it is but but but you know what the iphone
[43:56]can do three generations two or three generations back exactly they do
[44:01]not know what what a smartphone can do like you can see
[44:03]people on the screen the arab will tell you get out of
[44:07]here you're a sorcerer magician how does that work i can call
[44:11]someone a thousand kilometers away how is that even possible i do
[44:14]my work on this i read books on this i run my
[44:19]business on this i make money on this you make money how
[44:23]do you make money what are you selling see a small iphone
[44:26]if you want to describe to a 7th century person you can
[44:33]they don't they can't grasp it imagine paradise how are you going
[44:37]to describe the blessings of paradise so the examples the quran mentions
[44:42]are just examples what's there is nothing like you have in this
[44:45]world so keep that in mind this is also very important so
[44:50]the greenery the water so you know someone once made an objection
[44:53]he's like look i don't like forest and jannat i like desert
[44:58]landscape sure on the day of judgment he's not going to give
[45:01]me a desert landscape i love going to arizona and nevada and
[45:05]just looking at desert landscapes [Laughter] in heaven allah will give you
[45:12]everything but allah mentions these examples because most people like greenery even
[45:17]today even today by the way when people are searching for vacations
[45:21]an exotic vacation what do they search for yeah they usually they
[45:28]usually search for a place that has water number one number two
[45:33]greenery most people love these types of destinations it's it's like it's
[45:37]ingrained in us it's like part of our fitrah so that's why
[45:41]allah keeps mentioning the water and the greenery the jannat and the
[45:46]anhara exactly people in a desert they desire this they crave this
[45:53]and so allah is motivating them so take these examples as symbolic
[45:59]otherwise what's there no one can even grasp that's why allah in
[46:03]surat is sajdah what does he say verse 17 no nefs no
[46:13]soul nose no soul knows what allah has hidden for you in
[46:24]paradise that will bring you happiness jazz so remember this verse in
[46:30]the holy quran that no soul knows what to expect in paradise
[46:35]and that's why also in surat muhammad sallallahu alaihi verse 15 when
[46:41]allah talks about paradise and he's describing it allah says see allah
[46:50]says these beautiful blessings that i'm going to describe you that's not
[46:57]jannah itself it's like it it's similar to it just to bring
[47:03]it closer to your mind sometimes have you seen you're talking to
[47:09]a child and they just have a very childish mentality you want
[47:12]to explain something to them they don't get it how do you
[47:16]explain something i i once saw a father he was trying to
[47:21]motivate his son to work hard he was telling him habibi if
[47:23]you work hard you become successful then you'll have a sweet life
[47:29]you'll have a good life even though it's going through difficulty but
[47:31]it will be a sweet life he's like what do you mean
[47:35]sweet life so he basically told him candy nutella have you seen
[47:39]when you eat nutella how much you enjoy it if you work
[47:45]hard your whole life becomes nutella the child god is like wow
[47:50]i like that that's interesting see our minds compared to the achara
[47:54]are very limited so allah says because it's just beyond our exam
[48:03]our imagination now one of the features of paradise my dear brothers
[48:10]and sisters is that it's never ending infinite eternity allah says in
[48:18]surat saad verse this is our sustenance in heaven never finishes allah
[48:29]says verse 35 the food that you eat in paradise it's incessant
[48:35]it's eternal many verses about that it's infinite there are some philosophers
[48:47]who say that's just a metaphor when you say infinite khaled fear
[48:52]that means a long time like a million years no our scholars
[48:56]have not accepted that the quran is very clear that heaven is
[49:00]infinite it doesn't stop a trillion years no add another trillion add
[49:07]another trillion it just goes and goes and goes without ever stopping
[49:11]it's a scary thought isn't it but now there's a dilemma here
[49:17]that many people pose especially some atheists i once read on a
[49:23]blog an atheist he was saying i'm not even interested in going
[49:28]to heaven why because eventually i'll get bored there take me to
[49:32]the best place okay after a thousand years after a million years
[49:36]i'll get tortured there because it will be boring so i don't
[49:41]i i just want to be annihilated i don't want to go
[49:44]to heaven this was their objection how do we respond to that
[49:55]so there are a few responses number one allah's power is infinite
[50:04]right allah's power is it limited or it's infinite it's infinite every
[50:08]single day in heaven allah can create and invent a new blessing
[50:15]so for instance the foods that you eat in paradise imagine if
[50:21]every day there's a new food every day there's a new food
[50:30]and every day there's a new scent an aroma a new drink
[50:34]a new experience [Music] a new activity will you get bored why
[50:41]would you get bored when every single day there's something new now
[50:45]someone could say yeah but for infinitely there's something no yes because
[50:49]allah's power is infinite see allah your imagination is limited how many
[50:53]things you can think of and brainstorm but not allah allah every
[50:57]single day he gives you a new blessing so why would you
[51:02]get bored new experience new dimension so that's one way to address
[51:10]this objection how do you feel about this answer is it good
[51:20]or maybe still not that good i think that the people who
[51:24]go to heaven the soul of a believer and just being there
[51:27]to be happy it's it's the what's the presence in paradise itself
[51:32]yes that's the second answer see we human beings here on this
[51:38]earth because of our physical makeup and our psychological and mental limitations
[51:42]we get bored and by the way why do we get bored
[51:45]there's haikman allah subhanahu ta'ala purposely put boredom in you to work
[51:53]if people would not get bored they'd be stuck in their same
[51:58]state what is it that motivates you to be creative boredom when
[52:01]you get bored with your current state you want to change it
[52:05]without boredom humans would not have in fact invented what they invented
[52:09]subhanallah it's a way to drive you to motivate you to do
[52:14]to not be lazy to go and explore something new and bring
[52:18]something new so physically in this world you get bored but in
[52:22]the akhara it's a different realm you don't have the same physical
[52:27]makeup that you do over here therefore on the day of judgment
[52:32]in the in in paradise there is no boredom in fact boredom
[52:35]does not even make sense over there it's not one of the
[52:37]consequences of your existence there just your spiritual presence in paradise knowing
[52:44]that allah is satisfied with you that's sufficient that's enough and so
[52:50]you know one of the things that brings boredom is the time
[52:54]you feel limited in time there's time for this time and then
[52:57]there's no time you're out of time and space now well you're
[53:02]still in time and space though in heaven we're still bound by
[53:05]some sort of time and space not like the worldly time and
[53:09]space but in the end we're still limited only allah has above
[53:13]time and space yes everything comes to you exactly the third answer
[53:23]here the third answer is a very important one there are some
[53:30]experiences you never get bored of you never get tired of an
[53:35]example is thirst have you experienced extreme thirst you're very thirsty you've
[53:42]had a long summer day you were fasting let's say and then
[53:46]at the time of iftar they give you that cold cup how
[53:50]does it feel it gives you life right it rejuvenates you now
[53:57]imagine if you get thirsty a million times and each time your
[54:02]thirst is quenched do you ever get bored of that never just
[54:06]think of it right now do you ever get bored of the
[54:11]feeling of having your thirst quenched or you're really hungry and then
[54:16]you start eating do you ever get bored of that never why
[54:19]because you have a need when your need is being fulfilled you
[54:23]don't feel bored in the paradise in addition to these physical aspects
[54:30]your soul gets quenched with allah the mercy of allah every single
[54:39]day allah reveals this new satisfaction to your soul knowledge as you
[54:44]mentioned we have a hadith that states every friday allah subhanahu wa
[54:49]ta'ala reveals new knowledge to the people of heaven so why do
[54:53]you get bored number four and the last answer here the fact
[54:57]that in heaven you know what's happening in hell and sometimes you
[55:02]can even see it allows you to enjoy your blessings and appreciate
[55:06]it i'll i'll share with you some verses the people of hell
[55:16]will call on the people of heaven and will the people of
[55:33]heaven respond in this heavenly water the heavenly lizard for you the
[55:41]kafirs you who disbelieved in allah and ended up in hell so
[55:44]over here the people of hell are begging the people of heaven
[55:48]give us from your zip no see that makes you appreciate your
[55:53]blessing every single day in sura verses 50 and onwards for allah
[56:10]this person in heaven he says i had a friend who deviated
[56:15]who failed his test he's in hell right now so sometimes you
[56:20]see people that you know they went to hell so you're thankful
[56:23]to allah here and another verse in surah this time the people
[56:37]of heaven call on the people of hell we have found the
[56:45]promise of allah fulfilled allah said be good i'll take you to
[56:49]heaven we were good allah took us to heaven you people of
[56:58]hell did you find the promise of allah also being fulfilled meaning
[57:02]allah is punishing you now they said yes so we find that
[57:13]the people of hell people of heaven they're aware of what's going
[57:17]on in hell in fact they even have conversations that allows you
[57:21]to appreciate your blessings more i'll conclude with this hadith in which
[57:28]the imam states every person allah has created when he creates you
[57:40]he creates a place for you in heaven and another place where
[57:44]in hell when the people of heaven go to heaven and the
[57:52]people of hell go to hell a person will cry or maybe
[57:55]an angel will make this announcement oh you people of heaven come
[58:07]look you're high above there look down they will look at the
[58:12]fire of hell remember when allah created them he created a place
[58:20]for them in hell too they will be said look at your
[58:25]place that was waiting for you in hell had you failed your
[58:28]test see it become this would have been your place had you
[58:38]disobeyed allah see you would have been there allah yes isn't there
[58:46]a hadith that says that you are created for heaven not for
[58:51]her you're created for heaven meaning allah wants you to go to
[58:55]heaven allah subhanahu wa is merciful so he's put the paths for
[58:58]you to go to heaven however if you had failed your test
[59:01]there was already a place reserved for you in hell but the
[59:06]intent yes is to go to heaven but allah knows some people
[59:11]fail their test so he's already reserved a place for them in
[59:14]hell by the way this also could be a way to give
[59:20]you happiness so yes allah created you for heaven but when you
[59:25]see what could have happened to you you're you're so thankful and
[59:30]happy see what the imam says now when the people of hell
[59:32]the people of heaven are overlooking down into hell and they show
[59:36]them their homes in hell had they failed their test they would
[59:44]have gone there what happens to them if you could die from
[59:49]happiness have you seen a have you heard of a person who's
[59:51]died from happiness seriously like does that happen like you get so
[60:00]happy the imam says the imam says if a person could die
[60:05]from happiness all the people of heaven on that day would have
[60:15]died from happiness when they realized what allah saved them from then
[60:24]the sad part the hadith continues then that person who called on
[60:32]the people of heaven to look down and see now he looks
[60:36]at the people of hell and he tells them look up allah
[60:45]when the day he created you he had prepared for you a
[60:49]house in paradise see it it's there but because you disobeyed repeatedly
[60:55]you didn't repent you continued your evil you've lost it that in
[61:00]itself is the biggest adapt for the people of hell for you
[61:04]to be in hell and you see your place in heaven i
[61:07]could have gone there is it worth it was it worth it
[61:10]for just a few years in dunya i put myself in that
[61:17]situation so the imam alaihi salaam you know he continues with this
[61:20]hadith this is a reality brothers and sisters this is not a
[61:23]fairy tale this is a reality that will impact all of us
[61:27]inshallah in our next class we'll examine the gates of heaven heaven
[61:32]has eight gates what are those gates what are the specifications of
[61:39]those gates we'll examine that any
