[0:28]we continue our journey into examining this amazing treasure that we have
[0:36]that is previously we were examining sermon 56 and we examined how
[0:44]imam alibn strongly stated in this sermon that in the early days
[0:53]of islam one of our biggest trials was to go against our
[1:00]own family and that is one of your difficult trials in life
[1:03]and we mentioned the verse in the holy quran that says to
[1:08]the believers beware sometimes you can have an enemy at home your
[1:11]spouse can be your enemy one of your children can be your
[1:15]enemy a relative can be your enemy so be cautious they can
[1:19]distract you from allah and drag you to the path of deviation
[1:25]and make you lose your trial so the imam alaihissalam described that
[1:31]in his sermon and then he gets to this part he's describing
[1:37]the early days of islam and how the companions had so much
[1:43]dedication to struggle in the path of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala the
[1:50]mom says i can remember one of our men one of us
[1:55]the companions of the prophet and one of them the enemies they
[2:05]would fight with one another like the fahlen what's the faclain the
[2:13]fact in arabic is the male animal have you seen the male
[2:18]animals are usually tough and fighting like the bulls or even if
[2:25]you've seen the sheep you know certain type of goats and sheep
[2:27]they fight very aggressively this is called fat in arabic now tasawell
[2:35]in arabic comes from the word the form tafa al always indicates
[2:41]what two sides right in the arabic language if you examine the
[2:48]form of the word what does it indicate even if you don't
[2:52]know what it means yes it's a verb but if it comes
[2:58]on the form of what does it mean automatically there's two sides
[3:04]involved takatul means what there is fighting on both sides tasa means
[3:12]what there's reconciliation on both sides right comes from the word soul
[3:18]soul in arabic means to attack your opponent so tasawell means what
[3:25]two sides attacking each other the imam is saying in those early
[3:34]days we would fight fiercely defending the religion of islam like energetic
[3:39]men yet also comes from yet you still have two sides it
[3:52]comes from the word khals which means to snatch something to take
[4:00]something and that's why embezzlement in arabic is called right have you
[4:04]heard that that means embezzlement you're taking you're seizing something he says
[4:11]these two fighters were so focused on each other that they were
[4:16]waiting for the moment to snatch the other's life look at the
[4:25]description vividly that's exactly what happened at bed at these battles this
[4:30]is how it was the companions fighting with every cell in their
[4:36]body to defend the prophet and islam because it was almost about
[4:39]to be extinct and the mushrikeen are fighting with their last breath
[4:43]to stop the prophet that's how it was it was tough if
[4:49]i'm saying that's how we used to fight they were fighting with
[4:58]each other trying to snatch each other's life racing which one will
[5:04]basically give his opponent the cup of death beautiful eloquent description by
[5:12]imam salam the imam says sometimes we'd win allah would give us
[5:27]the victory we'd kill the opponent sometimes the opponent would kill us
[5:30]remember there were muslim casualties too from the sahaba from the companions
[5:36]of the prophet especially at uh and many other battles there were
[5:43]muslim casualties why do you think the imam mentions this he's talking
[5:49]about the early days of islam and how the army of the
[5:53]prophet was so strong whereas now in kufa if you remember from
[5:55]last week from the last part of the sermon the imam is
[6:00]saying to his army in kufa you're weak you're demoralized you're nothing
[6:05]like those early days of islam when we had so much commitment
[6:08]then the imam mentioned sometimes we'd win sometimes our opponents would strike
[6:11]us why do you think the imam mentions this what's the wisdom
[6:16]behind it why would you mention that sometimes you were defeated because
[6:20]the goal is not to win so one the goal is to
[6:28]struggle in the way of allah the outcome you leave it with
[6:32]god sometimes you'll win sometimes you won't but in the end because
[6:35]you're struggling for allah you're fulfilling your obligation that's one lesson we
[6:43]learned what's the other lesson that we learned from this humility in
[6:49]this sense let's modify it the imam is teaching us even if
[6:54]you're on huck don't think you'll always win some people they make
[6:59]the mistake that if i am trying to work for my religion
[7:05]work for a religious project i have to win all the time
[7:08]and then when they encounter trouble resistance problems in the community problems
[7:13]with the project they get demotivated they get confused what's going on
[7:16]i thought i was working for allah how come i am going
[7:20]through these difficulties the imam is teaching us that's normal that's part
[7:25]of life even as a mothman as a believer who's supported by
[7:28]allah with a prophet sometimes you win sometimes your enemy wins temporarily
[7:34]in the end the believer wins but temporarily you will suffer some
[7:42]setbacks there will be some setbacks in your life it's part of
[7:46]the trial the truth will eventually win but falsehood also has around
[7:52]imam islam beautifully one hadith states or maybe one of the imams
[8:05]beautiful statement even in the way it rhymes battle is falsehood what
[8:13]does jawline mean you know the lebanese have a word that captures
[8:19]jola they say kasdura have you heard of it what does it
[8:25]mean those who are lebanese what exactly does that do what i
[8:29]mean like to walk not not just to walk no no like
[8:32]to go for a ride right yeah yeah to go out for
[8:36]a round for a ride and then you come back it's quick
[8:39]right because dura doesn't take that long right so the hadith states
[8:44]baton has a jola it takes a ride comes and goes but
[8:52]the hack has a dollar what's the dollar governance it rules it
[9:01]stays so as a believer know this know that in the path
[9:05]of truth there could be some setbacks even we companions with the
[9:10]prophet sometimes would suffer losses that's part of the trial don't let
[9:14]that deflate you and demotivate you and confuse you and make you
[9:18]lose hope because i've seen that too often people who really have
[9:21]the passion they're working for the good cause but they expect a
[9:26]rosy carpet for them that will be rolled for them no there
[9:29]will be thorns too expect that so the imam is beautifully describing
[9:36]this for us then the imam is saying during those days in
[9:40]early islam when allah subhanahu wa saw our truth and sincerity that
[9:52]were truly sacrificing for his sake allah brought the kept to our
[10:02]enemies kept in arabic basically means defeat and humiliation eventually allah supported
[10:08]the prophet because he was surrounded by a number a group of
[10:12]companions who were truly sincere and amongst them at the forefront was
[10:16]imam ali ibn until islam became stable for over a decade islam
[10:35]was threatened every day every single day islam was threatened you know
[10:40]this global religion there were days during the prophet's life when the
[10:47]muslim were inches away from eradicating islam inches away that's why badr
[10:53]the prophet sallallahu alaihi right before the battle and started the muslims
[11:01]were 313.
[11:00]they had one or two horsemen the others were just infantry fighters
[11:06]they did not have good equipment they did not have good weapons
[11:10]good swords whereas the mushriks were three times their size they had
[11:18]so many horsemen they had the best gear to fight look at
[11:22]it just logistically how could the muslims win was an impossibility logistically
[11:28]so the prophet raised his hand to allah he says oh allah
[11:34]if this group today this group of muslims better die today no
[11:39]one will worship you ever that's it your prophet will be killed
[11:46]these group of believers will be killed there will be no movement
[11:51]on earth no one will worship you islam will be gone so
[11:54]bring down your victory when allah sees that level of sincerity despite
[11:59]your numbers allah will intervene and that's why better allah sent the
[12:04]angels the angel the angels did not physically fight but they went
[12:10]there to show the power of the muslims and to scare the
[12:14]mushriks many of those mushrikeen they would come to fight they would
[12:16]see an army of angels above the prophet imagine what happens to
[12:20]you when you see that you become weak and as you're weak
[12:23]imam ali would give you a blow that's what happened that's exactly
[12:28]what happened at the battle of badr why do you think they
[12:31]suffered such a big defeat because the muslims were very strong knowing
[12:38]the angels are with them and the angels demoralize the mushriks until
[12:47]islam became fixed to the point where islam rested its neck on
[12:58]the ground geran is the side of the neck of a can
[13:03]of camel where it's slaughtered it's the most sensitive part that's why
[13:05]a camel is very sensitive if you get near this part of
[13:12]the neck it will hit you because it does not want to
[13:15]be harmed that's why they have a special way of killing the
[13:18]camel they have to tie the camel you know you can't just
[13:23]strike the camel because it will go wild when the camel feels
[13:27]safe what does it do it puts that part of its neck
[13:32]on the ground when it's sleeping it feels safe this is called
[13:38]the geran of the camel imam states we fought and struggled until
[13:42]the neck of islam felt safe in other words islam achieved victory
[13:48]the mushrik could no longer threaten the survival of islam and also
[13:57]islam took its home towns it expanded and it felt safe people
[14:04]felt safe people felt like this is their hometown it spread wide
[14:08]and far that's the takeaway point from this beautiful passage if you're
[14:13]honest and if you don't fight for dunya and selfishness despite your
[14:20]low numbers lack of resources allah will grant you victory so the
[14:27]imam now is saying this to rebuke these kuffins who are so
[14:32]weak and who came up with excuse after excuse the imam says
[14:39]i swear i take an oath by my life if we during
[14:46]the early days of islam were weak like you today [Music] islam
[14:52]would not have had a pillar to stand on walk turn green
[15:02]basically when wood turns green it means it has life a tree
[15:07]that's still living the imam says if we were weak like you
[15:12]are today if we treated the prophet like you are treating me
[15:17]now believe me islam would not have become successful it had no
[15:22]pillar to stand on and it would not have life then the
[15:26]imam gives the stern warning and he concludes the sermon with this
[15:29]warning allah means i swear by allah so you will milk blood
[15:44]tilab in arabic means when you milk the cow or you milk
[15:49]the goat when you milk the cow or the goat what comes
[15:54]out from the other milk the imam says instead of milk because
[16:00]of your betrayal to me and allowing muawiyah to spread his corruption
[16:06]instead of getting fresh milk you are seeking blood and you shall
[16:18]be followed with regret that is the result of such weakness and
[16:22]such betrayal now when is it that a camel starts giving blood
[16:30]rather than milk either when the utters of the camel are infected
[16:33]there's an infection sometimes that happens or when the camel is excessively
[16:39]milked what happens it starts giving blood or the milk gets mixed
[16:43]with blood basically what i'm saying you will see destruction after me
[16:47]and my dear brothers and sisters that's exactly what has happened the
[16:52]last 13 centuries destruction in the muslim world loss deviation tyranny that's
[17:02]exactly what the imam is describing and notice this very significant point
[17:12]here milk is good food right it's nutritious it's very good whereas
[17:15]blood is what it's destructive to your health imagine if somebody drinks
[17:21]blood right that is not good for your health the imam seems
[17:25]to be indicating using this fine beautiful example that if islam is
[17:30]implemented properly gives you benefits like milk it's nutritious it's good for
[17:36]you but if islam falls in the wrong hands what happens it's
[17:46]destructive so islam is a double-edged sword here so to speak if
[17:54]you give it to the rightful people like the imams of adebays
[17:57]and you don't betray them it gives you wonders but if islam
[18:02]is betrayed and it falls in the right in the wrong hands
[18:08]what happens it turns into destruction meaning meaning those people who misused
[18:13]islam they were better off without islam had they not been muslim
[18:19]would have been better because they just used islam as a weapon
[18:23]to establish their desires and to kill innocent people and to change
[18:29]the religion of allah and that's why my dear brothers and sisters
[18:32]today you'll find some countries some secular countries some scandinavian countries like
[18:38]finland in terms of social justice they do better than muslim countries
[18:44]have you ever wondered why that's one reason the imam says islam
[18:50]which is supposed to give you milk that's healthy for you that's
[18:55]good for you symbolically of course if it falls in the wrong
[18:59]hands you will see blood instead of it and this islam becomes
[19:02]destructive keep that in mind because this has confused many muslims historically
[19:08]what's the problem with our religion how come in our societies we
[19:14]have all these problems yes islam is a powerful weapon you give
[19:20]it to the wrong hands it causes destruction and that is a
[19:27]sad reality any questions on that so now that we've concluded sermon
[19:39]56 let's examine the point of our discussion tonight one of the
[19:43]most important sermons of najib sermon 57 in sermon 57 imam ali
[19:54]ibn is warning his people about a man who's going to come
[20:00]and cause utter destruction after him amma beware innahu sayaf there will
[20:09]be a person who will have absolute power a man who has
[20:18]a wide throat will now examine that in detail inshallah word by
[20:23]word so the imam is talking about this person salaam alaikum who's
[20:28]obese who eats a lot who's destructive and he will destroy the
[20:32]muslim ummah the imam says beware of him kill him and i
[20:38]know you won't kill him but you should kill him who is
[20:43]the imam alayhi salaam referring to let me read the quick translation
[20:47]and then we'll examine the words so the imam says a person
[20:52]who has a white throat will appear after me he has a
[20:57]big belly that's protruding out whatever he finds he desire devours and
[21:01]whatever he doesn't find he seeks the imam says kill him but
[21:06]i know you will not kill him then the imam says and
[21:07]he will instruct you to slander me seb yes he will command
[21:18]you to slander me and to condemn me as for slandering me
[21:25]do it it's good for me and good for you it will
[21:32]basically save you but for the bara do not condemn me for
[21:38]i have been born on the fitrah and i was the first
[21:40]to raise to iman and hijrah let's examine these words first of
[21:48]all who's the imam referring to a number of historians have said
[21:52]possibly ibn ziyad who came after the imam islam he was destructive
[21:56]possibly who al-hajjaj ibn yusuf athakafi but most historians and our scholars
[22:05]they've said the imam is clearly referring to who ibn abi sufyan
[22:10]this is a clear reference to maui the imam is warning his
[22:13]people that if you do not kill this evil man muawiyah he
[22:19]will cause havoc and destruction in the muslim ummah what is some
[22:24]evidence that we can state this is muawiyah number one who's a
[22:32]sunni scholar he narrates in his book as sufyaniyah the abu dhar
[22:36]the companion of the prophet salallahu alaihi one the prophet is describing
[22:55]and he's saying if this man governs the ummah who has a
[23:07]wide throat be cautious these words that the prophet uses are very
[23:22]close to the words imam ali uses the wide throat right he
[23:26]eats whatever he doesn't get full so we know from the description
[23:31]of the prophet imam is referring to the same man which is
[23:36]way that's the first clue the second clue the prophet commanded muslims
[23:41]to kill muawiyah in this hadith the prophet salallahu alaihi stated if
[23:48]you see muawiyah on my member what's member pulpit podium kill him
[23:55]what is the evidence that we have this he mentions this all
[24:15]of them mentioned that the prophet said if you see muawiyah on
[24:19]my pulpit kill him and imam ali said i'm in describing this
[24:23]evil man what does he also say kill him have you ever
[24:28]heard imam al-islam in any of his speeches he's saying about a
[24:31]future person kill him no except this man and we know the
[24:35]prophet said said the same thing about muawiyah therefore we know imam
[24:40]ali islam is talking about that's the second clue the third one
[24:46]muawiyah and therefore we know that the imam is he says that
[25:12]the physical descriptions imam ali gives fit he was very obese and
[25:16]he had a big belly and that's exactly what imam al-islam is
[25:22]describing here now question why didn't imam ali name him in this
[25:26]speech well just tell us why did he give us the description
[25:31]but not mention his name what's the wisdom behind that political reason
[25:43]what is the political reason the imam was at war with muawiyah
[25:47]it's not like he's doing takiyah anymore it's an open war see
[25:53]the imam alaihissalam seems to indicate to his people it's not a
[25:59]personal problem that he has with muhammad it's about the haqq anyone
[26:06]who exhibits such behavior he's he wants to devour the muslim ummah
[26:11]with so much greed and commands his people to slander the imam
[26:18]of their time this person has to be eliminated so don't think
[26:22]i have a personal problem with mawaya for me to mention his
[26:24]name muawiyah anyone who fits this description is an evil person beware
[26:30]him this is why sometimes the imams don't mention names because then
[26:34]people think it's a problem ali has a problem with no it's
[26:36]not a personal problem it's about deen it's about haka it's about
[26:40]justice now one question from one of the members why was mu'awiyah
[26:45]allowed to continue because the people betrayed imam ali al-islam and ma'awiya
[26:49]would bribe the people through bribery he bought their religion and he
[26:56]bought their principles and values that's how maui has succeeded by resorting
[27:00]to evil means such as briberies and the imam alaihi salaam here
[27:09]when he says do you know if the people had listened to
[27:14]imam al-ali and they would have supported him history would have changed
[27:19]calamity we see today is basically from and him bringing the bani
[27:27]umayya and sidelining the adidabay imagine if people stood with imam ali
[27:30]salaam the imam would have ruled over the entire muslim empire milan
[27:35]and that's it next imam al-hasan would have ruled al-hussein would have
[27:40]ruled they would have showed divine justice on earth no person would
[27:47]have been oppressed all these bela's tragedies because of mawia so it
[27:54]was very critical that the muslims listen to the prophet eliminate this
[27:58]man your prophet is telling you eliminate him but unfortunately they disobeyed
[28:04]the prophet another discussion here my dear brothers and sisters when we
[28:09]hear the words of imam ali and the prophet describing the physical
[28:13]features of muawiyah someone could say the way the imam is describing
[28:20]him he's discriminating against obese people some people say this let's let's
[28:26]address this how do we respond to this because the imam is
[28:29]saying he's got a big belly protruding someone could say well that's
[28:34]kind of discrimination against obese people right why is the imam making
[28:39]fun of that or even highlighting that i'll mention two or three
[28:44]answers and then i'll see what you think about this number one
[28:47]in the past during that era food was very scarce you know
[28:52]people barely had a loaf of bread to eat to have such
[28:57]a big belly from overeating was inappropriate and just wrong because you
[29:03]were eating someone else's share today it's different today food is abundant
[29:08]you may not necessarily be eating someone else's share so when the
[29:13]imam is saying that he is just bringing to our attention how
[29:16]mu'awiya is careless reckless has no empathy doesn't care about the poor
[29:22]and all he does is eat at a time when people would
[29:27]starve at a time when people barely had a loaf of bread
[29:30]at night to eat this is how can the how can this
[29:34]person be a trusted leader that's what the imam is highlighting he's
[29:37]not putting down obese people but he's highlighting the greed of muawiyah
[29:43]and how he's unfit to lead the muslim ummah because many people
[29:47]were brainwashed thinking that he is the khalifa of the prophet salallahu
[29:54]by the way my dear brothers and sisters even today you know
[29:59]if you look at americans and how they live they definitely are
[30:06]using the resources of other nations if everyone on earth wants to
[30:11]live like an american today we need seven planets to meet the
[30:15]resources sometimes we think yes you know in this country we have
[30:22]resources that's fine i'm not harming anyone i'm not taking the share
[30:26]of anyone no you are many nations are exploited so you can
[30:30]live the way you are living now and that's why americans waste
[30:36]so much when we waste so much don't think this is just
[30:39]extra resources that we have that nobody needs no there are people
[30:44]starving they don't have those resources every year americans waste 180 billion
[30:49]would there be billion dollars worth of food you could eliminate global
[30:54]hunger and starvation with that money with that amount of food 180
[31:00]billion dollars you know how many how many tons and tons of
[31:03]food that is thousands and hundreds of thousands of tons of food
[31:08]and sometimes sometimes to even keep global prices of wheat sometimes wheat
[31:15]is dumped into the ocean did you know that have you heard
[31:18]of that look into it sometimes deliberately wheat is taken from farmers
[31:24]there's excess of wheat and to maintain the global price of wheat
[31:28]so it doesn't become too cheap it's thrown in the ocean here
[31:32]in america go research it it's not some conspiracy theory go researcher
[31:36]this is well documented to maintain prices yes well who's suffering 30
[31:43]000 kids a day who die from malnutrition and starvation every single
[31:49]day 10 days that's 300 000 kids so the imam ali salaam
[31:55]is basically bringing to our attention that when you use too much
[31:59]resources you're taking someone's share think of that the other point here
[32:04]my dear brothers and sisters is that if obesity has a medical
[32:10]reason sometimes some people they're prone to it they have a medical
[32:13]condition that you know leads to obesity okay you know islam says
[32:19]don't discriminate they're not to blame but if a person is obese
[32:22]just because they don't control their desire for eating right honestly islamically
[32:30]that's that's discouraged for a person to go to such extents like
[32:34]he had layers and layers of his belly protruding out even if
[32:40]you're not taking anyone's share and assuming you don't have a medical
[32:43]condition right it's discouraged islamically allah doesn't want you to live like
[32:52]that so it's not discrimination against obesity but islam says have a
[32:56]better lifestyle that's not a good healthy lifestyle physically and spiritually so
[33:01]what are your thoughts on imam ali's description of when he describes
[33:07]him in such vivid terms yes that is the other possibility that
[33:15]we'll we'll examine but the reason why a number of scholars have
[33:20]said we take it literally and metaphorically is because maui did exactly
[33:24]fit that description it could work work both ways definitely and so
[33:30]i'll mention that when we get to the words of that this
[33:32]is symbolic when the imam describes maui as having a wide throat
[33:36]don't take this literally like he has a white throat no it
[33:40]means he's power hungry he's selfish he's trying to eat the people
[33:46]it's symbolic don't take it literally yes that is a possibility became
[34:05]the caliph of all muslim lands after imam ali as long as
[34:10]imam ali was there there was a split syria was for ma'awiya
[34:13]whereas hijaz and iraq and these other areas they belong to the
[34:17]rule of imam ali alayhi salam after the power over all lands
[34:23]so that's what he means when imam ali was not a khalifa
[34:30]yet he was a regional governor vying for power after imam ali
[34:34]he declared his you know broad khilafah in the muslim world that's
[34:38]why he says after me because at the time he still he
[34:42]was just ruling in syria that's it but other muslim lands were
[34:46]under the rule of imam ali so let's now examine the words
[34:50]in the sermon after me a man will appear to rule over
[34:57]you basically arabic means wide something that's spacious wide big or an
[35:17]expanse of land something that is expanded you also call it means
[35:24]is belly stomach comes from the word the word in arabic means
[35:32]to throw something far away like to toss something out this word
[35:38]is used to describe a big belly because it becomes layered and
[35:44]it gets tossed out so that's why in arabic they would call
[35:48]this munda talbot so the imam is using this description basically whatever
[35:56]he finds he devours it and what's not available he goes and
[36:03]he seeks it now the brother mentioned could this be symbolic absolutely
[36:06]many scholars have seen it that way so the other possibility is
[36:09]that the imam is not focusing on how his body looks like
[36:15]rather metaphorically the imam is describing his character and his rule he's
[36:19]like a greedy person who gets never full from eating he's power
[36:24]hungry and money hungry that's the takeaway point and by the way
[36:31]one reason why muawiyah was physically like this he'd never get full
[36:36]is because of the dua of the prophet does anyone remember what
[36:42]that dua is yes basically at the time of the prophet two
[36:45]or three times the prophet called on away he wanted something from
[36:53]ma'awiyah muawiyah was eating and so knowing that the prophet was calling
[36:57]on him he disregarded the command of the prophet they came to
[37:01]the prophet they told him he is busy eating when your rasool
[37:05]calls upon you you're busy eating so the prophet the first time
[37:09]he didn't say anything the second time he didn't say anything the
[37:12]third time when the prophet called him and he was told was
[37:17]busy eating the prophet made a dua against him he said o
[37:23]allah oh allah never make him full and so he would constantly
[37:29]say this he'd keep eating like an animal and he doesn't get
[37:33]full he says you know it's the consequence of the dua of
[37:35]the prophet i eat i eat i don't get full yeah this
[37:39]is my away they call him khalifa muslim and one of the
[37:49]sahabah how much how old was he i'm not sure if he's
[37:56]much older than imam ali can someone google his the year of
[38:03]birth old enough to like comprehend if the prophet was at the
[38:07]same time telling him i believe imam ali may have been older
[38:10]a little bit because in early islam he was young maui was
[38:13]still young 60280 imam ali alayhi salaam was born 600 a.d right
[38:24]in the in the uh gregorian calendar imam ali is born 600
[38:30]601 okay so they're one year apart so imam ali is a
[38:34]year or two older than mawia so he know he was not
[38:38]older than imam ali so during this time away is not that
[38:44]old you know when the imam al-islam is making the speech i
[38:47]would say muawiyah is in his late 50s early 60s maybe 60.
[38:53]we can conclude 57 58 59 60.
[38:58]somewhere around there and yet he was that obese they have chicken
[39:08]they have meat yes yes they had meat they had lamb they
[39:12]had camel meat they had chicken yes now it wasn't widely available
[39:17]the rich people had access to it but the average person no
[39:20]once in a blue moon they probably eat some meat the average
[39:26]poor people but yes it was available we do have hadiths about
[39:29]it because my dad tells me he was young he's like 75
[39:32]he said his mom used to get this much meat yes it
[39:36]was scarce eight brothers i've heard from my grandparents in karbala that
[39:41]if you know um they would go to like a very important
[39:46]gathering sponsored by a rich person and they'd eat chicken that was
[39:49]you know the highlight of that year you ate chicken at so-and-so's
[39:52]house yes that's that's how life was just recently today we have
[39:58]hundreds of types of foods and we're not that satisfied yet just
[40:01]remember the generation of your grandparents didn't have that nothing did not
[40:06]even some fruits if you remember from the islamic beliefs course we
[40:10]talked about paradise and talhend the banana the banana until recently was
[40:15]very scarce i remember i remember when i was growing up in
[40:21]komen iran you know every few months if someone would bring some
[40:25]bananas the kids would go wild it's like eating gold today who
[40:30]cares nobody cares about it anymore you would give people i remember
[40:35]i remember vividly during the hajj season pilgrims would go to mecca
[40:42]for the hajj and you know at the hajj they bring fruits
[40:44]from all over the world they would actually bring bananas back home
[40:48]as the best gift to give to their family was that special
[40:53]and this is what not 300 years ago this is just a
[40:57]few decades ago can you just imagine yeah so life has dramatically
[41:02]changed today we have everything and we're still not happy the generation
[41:07]of our grandparents were happier so the imam says kill him your
[41:15]obligation is to kill this evil man but unfortunately you people of
[41:21]iraq you're too weak you're betraying me you won't listen to me
[41:24]and you won't be able to kill him then the imam says
[41:30]allah and this is a sad part allah that evil man will
[41:35]command you to slander me to curse me to swear at me
[41:44]and to condemn me to seek immunity from me the imam says
[41:52]as for swearing at me slandering me you're allowed to do that
[42:01]slander me foreign for me it's purity and for you there will
[42:11]be salvation you'll be saved and as for condemning me or seeking
[42:17]distance from me never condemn me i was the first to believe
[42:31]hijrah and amongst the first to migrate let's examine this very important
[42:36]passage my dear brothers and sisters number one cursing imam ali al-islam
[42:44]unlike any other person any other companion the seb of imam ali
[42:52]al-islam swearing at imam ali condemning imam ali defending imam ali is
[42:58]kufur not just a sin kufu if you slander any other muslim
[43:03]and you're wrong it's a big sin you're violating the rights of
[43:08]a movement of a believer but are you a kafir no you're
[43:12]a faster you've committed a sin but you're not a kafir any
[43:20]muslim other than the prophet salallahu right that you slander it does
[43:27]not lead you to kufur to disbelief but it could be a
[43:28]it is a major sin if the person is a movement and
[43:32]does not deserve the seb the slandering slandering imam ali is kufur
[43:39]the one who slanders imam ali leaves the religion of islam he's
[43:43]no longer a believer he's no longer a muslim why what's the
[43:49]evidence first of all we have a hadith narrated in sunni sources
[43:56]such as this source in his book he says we have a
[44:10]hadith from the prophet sallallahu alaihi in which he states the prophet
[44:18]says the one who slanders ali swears that ali has slandered me
[44:23]and all muslims unanimously have agreed the one who slanders rasool allah
[44:26]what is he you're not a muslim if you slander the prophet
[44:33]so the prophet says the one who slanders ali has slandered me
[44:37]that means if you slander ali you're not a believer you're not
[44:42]a muslim that's kufur and this hadith is in sunni sources not
[44:46]just shia sources that's number one and by the way there is
[44:51]a very interesting historical hadith that states ibn abbas towards the end
[44:59]of his life when he had trouble seeing he lost his vision
[45:03]ibn abbas is the son of abbas the uncle of the prophet
[45:05]the cousin of the prophet and the imam he was basically passing
[45:11]by a group of people and he asked what are they discussing
[45:17]ibn abbas was told they're cursing imam ali yes they're slandering imam
[45:25]ali ibn abbas said carry me show me to them because he
[45:31]had trouble seeing he told the person guiding him take me to
[45:34]them so they took him to him when he went to that
[45:39]group he said to them allah why are you slandering allah swearing
[45:46]at god cursing god why they said subhanallah the one who slanders
[45:53]god has become a kafir no muslim does that then he says
[46:00]okay which of you cursed the prophet sallallahu alaihi they said no
[46:05]one as a muslim how could you curse the prophet sallallahu alaihi
[46:10]then he said okay which of you cursed imam ali they said
[46:14]yeah as for ali we were cursing him collectively he said okay
[46:18]then bear witness that i heard rasulallah state in a hadith the
[46:26]one who curses ali has cursed me and the one who curses
[46:32]me curses allah and whoever curses allah slanders allah allah will throw
[46:37]him on his face in hell ibn abbas is telling them i
[46:41]heard this from the prophet sallallahu alaihi so the one who slanders
[46:46]imam ali alayhi salaam that is tanamat tukufu or amounts to kufur
[46:52]unlike other companions why do i bring this subject because when we
[46:58]mention this about muawiyah instituting the legacy of cursing imam ali you'll
[47:02]find other muslims from other schools of thought they tell us well
[47:06]you the shia you curse some of the companions you condemn them
[47:10]right which is true there are certain companions who disobeyed the prophet
[47:15]who were enemies of the alibaba like himself he's a companion but
[47:20]we curse him they say okay what's the difference you guys curse
[47:23]and wow he occurs so what what's the big deal no there's
[47:27]a big difference if you curse any other companion assuming assuming that
[47:34]companion was even rightly guided it's not kufur you made a mistake
[47:38]in your historical judgment that's the most that you can say but
[47:42]with imam islam no it's kofur so there's a difference between imam
[47:48]ali and others secondly the quran condemned some of those companions so
[47:52]we condemn them too yes yes this is applicable to all of
[47:58]the alibaba and that's the second point the second point of why
[48:03]cursing imam ali is kufur is because allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in
[48:07]the holy quran has declared absolute purity for the albeit for you
[48:15]to curse one of the members of the albeit means rejection of
[48:22]the holy quran because allah tells you i've i've purely i've thoroughly
[48:27]purified this person you say no i curse this person you're falsifying
[48:30]the quran and any muslim who rejects the quran like that is
[48:34]not a muslim anymore and by extension yes we say any member
[48:38]of albeit anyone from the albeit if anyone curses them is not
[48:44]a muslim it's an asami we call these people nasa is an
[48:48]islamic law you can't marry them they are negis you can't live
[48:51]with them they are not muslim yes you know sent down imam
[48:58]ali was not born yet right no he was imam ali islam
[49:02]was 10 when the prophet received revelation okay so he was born
[49:06]okay so no sin is asked why isn't his name in the
[49:11]quran like if he's so special like his saying none of their
[49:15]names are mentioned in the quran there are many answers many answers
[49:20]very briefly one is a trial to try the ummah figure out
[49:24]the answer not everything is given you on a golden platter do
[49:27]your research number two allah gives you descriptions the descriptions are more
[49:34]effective than names allah gives you the descriptions of imam ali who
[49:39]is the wali of god imam if you're accepted from here now
[49:56]i don't know if it's true or not because your side is
[49:58]high so i learned that the first no the first thing god
[50:08]created for guidance for all the muslims and most loved by god
[50:13]and they say they're from the tree of adam two was first
[50:22]the salam two mother of muhammad and they're perfect and there's so
[50:31]many like ideology and so much yeah it's not it's never under
[50:39]it yes we have sahih hadith it can't be answered by one
[50:46]answer it's something that's eternal you have to keep getting into it
[50:50]to say it to your family to your heart thank you brother
[50:57]is that true yes allah is the one who delivers guidance absolutely
[51:01]so the second the second reason is that sometimes allah wants to
[51:06]point you to the qualities find the qualities you'll know the people
[51:10]of the haqq these are two brief ones but the main one
[51:12]the main one is if the name of imam ali salam was
[51:16]mentioned in the holy quran the umayyads would have omitted it from
[51:19]the quran and that would have opened the path to playing with
[51:24]the quran and allah wants to protect the quran if 70 years
[51:26]they curse imam ali on the pulpit you think if his name
[51:31]was in the quran clearly explicitly they would not have omitted it
[51:36]when muay is the khalifa and his ruling he would have issued
[51:41]a command every muslim you omit the name of imam ali from
[51:44]the quran and that would have opened the door to tampering with
[51:47]the quran but allah wants to preserve the quran unchanged so there
[51:50]was wisdom and not having the name of imam ali explicitly in
[51:54]the quran by the way if you remember from one of our
[51:57]lessons we spoke about the name of imam ali being mentioned in
[52:01]the quran you remember that verse in surat maryam so this is
[52:06]just a a brief reply to that so imam ali is from
[52:11]the bait and cursing any member of alibaba amounts to falsifying the
[52:16]quran that's number two number three many hadiths and sunni and shia
[52:22]sources sahih muslim and other works the prophet says to imam ali
[52:25]alayhi salaam he tells him o ali the one who hates you
[52:30]is a munafer as a hypocrite so the one who slanders imam
[52:33]ali cannot be a muslim he's a hypocrite sahih hadith from the
[52:37]prophet sallallahu alaihi that's the first discussion here and this is what
[52:42]muawiyah did he institute a policy of cursing imam ali number two
[52:47]the imam alaihissalam states out of your life is in danger because
[52:54]of the commands of this evil man the umayyads and you are
[52:59]being forced to curse me or slander me do it you'll be
[53:04]saved now the imam is saying go ahead curse me subuni if
[53:09]you have to but scholars have ruled that if you're in that
[53:16]situation where you're being forced slander imam ali all your you'll you'll
[53:21]be killed you don't have to slander imam ali it's optional how
[53:24]do we how do we reconcile the command of imam ali alayhi
[53:30]salaam to curse him with many high-ranking companions of imam ali who
[53:35]refused to curse him and they got killed like reshade al-hajari like
[53:40]maithamit tamar hajj they refused to slander imam ali al-islam and they
[53:47]were killed and the imams considered them as shahada so how do
[53:49]we reconcile this one imam ali najal is clearly saying no curse
[53:53]me that's a command see in in legal theory in usual scholars
[54:00]say whenever there is a command issued and there is the assumption
[54:07]that it's prohibited it's haram when the command comes that command is
[54:13]not a command of obligation it's a command of permissibility i'll give
[54:19]you an example from the quran the quran says when you're in
[54:23]you can't hunt hunting in is prohibited then allah and one verse
[54:31]states you're now free from your fastu fastado means what hunt it's
[54:38]a command hunt when you finish your you have to go hunting
[54:42]of course not why because it's a quranic command allah says go
[54:49]hunting because it was prohibited now the command comes to tell you
[54:53]it's okay it doesn't necessarily mean you have to do it now
[54:57]someone is could think well this is the imam of my time
[55:01]how can i curse him it's prohibited the imam says no it's
[55:04]okay you can you don't have to but you can i we've
[55:07]given you permission to protect your life you're allowed to do that
[55:14]and the best proof of that is that these top-ranking companions like
[55:18]methamphetamine these others they refuse to curse imam ali yet we consider
[55:24]them as so we know that it's optional there's an interesting hadith
[55:30]from imam al-baqarah he was asked about two men from kufa two
[55:36]of them were arrested they were told condemn imam ali slander imam
[55:42]ali one of them did and he saved his life the other
[55:48]refused he got killed what's their faith is being asked about the
[55:58]scenario the imam ali salaam states the one who slandered imam ali
[56:05]he's a person of fir because he knows that this is takiyah
[56:09]and in taqiyya mode you're allowed to do that so the person
[56:14]knows his deen wa levi as for the one who refused to
[56:20]curse imam ali he is a man who hastened to paradise that
[56:28]means the imam said i'm saying it's optional you want to save
[56:31]your life save it you want to go to heaven quickly go
[56:37]so we know it's optional today what do you say what's their
[56:39]recommendation you could be asking why would you be in such a
[56:45]situation oh yes i remember 13 years ago in iraq if you
[56:49]were driving from baghdad to karbala going south or from karbala north
[56:55]to baghdad there was a place called latifiyah and they're not that
[57:00]far from kelvin they're between baghdad and karbala these extremists are the
[57:07]isis-like mentality people they basically had the control on that route they
[57:14]would stop cars bus after bus and you know what they would
[57:19]do they would basically ask them to step to the side they
[57:24]would check who's shia and sometimes the shia they'd immediately just behead
[57:30]them right by the street this is like 12 13 years ago
[57:33]or sometimes you know what they would do if they didn't really
[57:38]know who's who they would tell him slander ali slander imam ali
[57:42]if you slandered him they let you go if not they'd kill
[57:46]you this happened very recently i remember those days i vividly remember
[57:50]those days so don't think this is the era of maui this
[57:52]is no in this century it's happening what's the recommendation of the
[57:58]maraja if you're in that situation we know it's optional but what
[58:02]should you do i once asked america about this this was his
[58:12]recommendation he said if you're a public figure someone well known with
[58:18]impact don't slander imam show the strength of our belief in the
[58:22]albeit die as a shaheed because it will spread around the world
[58:26]ex-person was taken by these people and you know he slandered imam
[58:32]ali i know it's optional but better not to because here you're
[58:37]really standing up for your faith make that sacrifice but if you're
[58:42]a private citizen you know you're not that well-known okay in that
[58:46]case yes maybe if you just protect your life and go back
[58:48]to your family that would be better because there's no damage here
[58:55]another example another america gave is he asked the question is it
[59:02]being recorded or not if it's not being recorded it's not going
[59:05]to spread okay to save your life out of tahrir slander but
[59:10]if it's being recorded and it's going to be publicized around the
[59:15]world no stand up to your faith you're allowed but but this
[59:22]is just their recommendation but yes it is definitely a priest free
[59:26]pass to heaven by the way if the sunnis come with this
[59:36]objection where are you bringing this belief from that you are doing
[59:38]taqiyya and you go to heaven by you know not slandering uh
[59:43]imam ali al-islam where are you bringing this that you're allowed to
[59:49]do this the quran the story of ahmad bin yasir you know
[59:54]in the story of amar ibn yasir in surah tanakh verse 106
[59:58]when allah talks about the one who's forced to say the words
[60:01]of disbelief but his heart is full of faith sunni scholars like
[60:10]um al-haqqim and naysay in his book he says that the prophet
[60:16]sallallahu alaihi was told that amar had been forced not just to
[60:22]renounce the belief in the one god and to accept the idols
[60:26]to protect his life but also to do the seb of the
[60:34]prophet did you know that the muslim forced ammar to slander the
[60:39]prophet and he did and that's why he felt terrible after that
[60:42]he would go and put his face in the dust and he
[60:47]would say that's it i've perished what have i done what have
[60:50]i done until they told the prophet is going to die in
[60:54]the state come say something to him so the prophet came to
[60:56]him he told him ahmad what happened he told him you've heard
[60:59]what happened and to protect my my parents got killed ahmad and
[61:05]sumayyah yasir and sumayyah but i protected my life the prophet told
[61:09]him your heart tell me in your heart do you have the
[61:13]faith he's like of course i fully believe in you i believe
[61:17]in allah the prophet said it's okay allah has revealed revelation that
[61:20]he has accepted your taqiyya so we find that ahmad bin yasir
[61:25]when the mushriks captured him and they were torturing him he slandered
[61:29]the prophet but he was allowed to do that so we have
[61:31]a basis in the holy quran that for to protect your life
[61:35]you can actually do something like that this is verse 106 the
[61:44]one who disbelieves in god after believing in him they're condemned except
[61:47]illam and ukraine the one who is forced [Music] but your heart
[61:56]is full of iman allah says that's okay so we have a
[62:04]precedent here the third discussion imam ali in this sermon of najib
[62:08]he says when it comes to the seb the slandering the swearing
[62:14]at me do it it's okay i don't do do not condemn
[62:22]me and seek immunity from me what's the difference between seb and
[62:26]barack scholars have given many numerous possibilities here what's sab what's the
[62:32]difference between them but basically it seems that the most plausible meaning
[62:36]the imam is telling us seb is something that you just say
[62:41]verbally on your tongue to protect your life you don't mean it
[62:46]you're just saying it [Music] is that which is in your heart
[62:53]the imam says verbally if you're required to slander me do so
[62:57]and protect your life but never distance your heart from me never
[63:03]condemn me in your heart why because i have three qualities number
[63:08]one i was born on the fitrah what does it mean for
[63:14]imam ali to born on the father we have hadith that every
[63:16]newborn is born on the future what's special about imam ali well
[63:24]he's born in the kaaba but he's saying i was born on
[63:29]the fitrah whereas we know that every newborn is born on the
[63:32]fitrah but this is a unique quality of imam ali what what
[63:34]is he referring to what's that he stayed on it ever since
[63:40]well there are others who've stayed on it many companions many believers
[63:44]they've stayed on it but the circumstances of his birth what's unique
[63:55]yes when he was born do you know according to our sahih
[64:04]hadiths basically revelation the light of revelation started with the prophet not
[64:09]when he was 40 at in cave hara it started 10 years
[64:12]earlier with the birth of imam ali we have narrations that state
[64:19]narrations that the prophet for 10 years he would see the light
[64:25]of the angels he would actually see the light but they would
[64:28]not communicate any verses to him so revelation basically started at age
[64:33]30 for the prophet he would interact with the angels he would
[64:40]hear their presence he would see them he would see the light
[64:43]of revelation but no verses were being revealed to him yet and
[64:47]it was at age 30 that the prophet started to go to
[64:52]kev hara for 10 years he would go to that cave it
[64:54]started at age 30 with the birth of imam al-ali israel so
[64:58]imam ali was not really born in jahiliyyah he was born in
[65:05]the futhra of islam and the lap of the prophet salallahu no
[65:10]one shared that other quality he was born in the lap of
[65:16]the prophet when the prophet was starting to see the light of
[65:19]revelation for 10 years and then 10 years later allah revealed the
[65:22]first verse says ikra so the iran says i was born on
[65:29]the fitra i was born in the lap of rasulallah how can
[65:31]you condemn me how can you seek distance from me when i
[65:35]and the prophet are basically one and fusana one fusaku and that's
[65:43]why in a beautiful hadith the prophet sallallahu alaihi told lady khadija
[65:48]salam imam ali was born a newborn a baby has been born
[66:04]who's full of barakah he will open for us many paths of
[66:09]barakah these are the words of the prophet sallallahu alaihi so imam
[66:13]ali was not born in jahiliyyah he was born in prophethood in
[66:18]the light of revelation how can you seek distance from him yes
[66:22]brother welcome first of all the jahalia ignorance in terms of your
[66:35]beliefs never impacted you and secondly technically you were not born in
[66:45]jahali because the prelude to the revelation started at age 30.
[66:48]so imam ali was born in islam because he never prostrated to
[66:56]an idol see the imam is taking it a step further that
[66:59]argument is okay he was born in jahiliyyah but he never worshiped
[67:04]an idol the imam is saying no i was born on the
[67:08]fitrah on the pure path because at age 30 the prophet started
[67:14]to see the light of revelation and i was born in his
[67:16]lap so i was born in islam technically even before the official
[67:20]revelation of islam and secondly the imam says i was the first
[67:24]to embrace islam that's a historical fact the first one to accept
[67:28]the message of the prophet in fact he was with him in
[67:32]cave hara when jim came so he was the first one to
[67:36]even know about this and imam and he says in najib i
[67:38]used to hear and see the angel who would come to the
[67:42]prophet and i was the first to basically migrate and sacrifice meaning
[67:48]amongst the first and i made that sacrifice by sleeping on the
[67:51]prophet's bed so in some don't distance yourself away from me but
[67:58]the sab verbally you can say say that the imam alaihi in
[68:04]one hadith he states there will come a time where you will
[68:16]be slaughtered from your throat if you don't curse me and that's
[68:19]what muawiyah did unfortunately how was the sub zakat for imam ali
[68:27]imam says if you have to verbally slander me do so for
[68:32]you it's najat and najat means what salvation for me for imam
[68:41]ali it's zakat what's zakat zakat is purity or when something becomes
[68:45]abundant and it grows how is it a source of purity for
[68:49]imam ali there is a hadith that sunni and shia have narrated
[68:53]in which the prophet sallallahu alaihi states do you know who the
[69:01]bankrupt person is when you go bankrupt they told him tell us
[69:06]who is the muflis yeah he asked them i'm asking you who
[69:13]is the muflis who is the bankrupt person they told him the
[69:15]one who has no dirham no money no property nothing the prophet
[69:22]said no i will tell you the bankrupt of my ummah is
[69:24]the one who comes on the day of judgment bisalatin he's prayed
[69:31]wasayaman he's fasted wazakat and he's given charity.
[69:42]he came on the day of judgment this person who's done these
[69:48]rituals but he slandered this person he's cussed at that person who
[69:51]does not deserve to be cussed that who does not to be
[69:54]deserved to be slandered the hasanat of this person who prayed will
[70:03]be given to the person that you slandered that you cussed that
[70:09]and if his hassanat finish the sayat the sins of that person
[70:16]that you slandered will be given to you so the imam says
[70:19]the more these beni umayyah slandered me the more good deeds i
[70:24]receive and the more sins they acquire so i'm not losing anything
[70:32]and that's consolation for the oppressed and the believer sometimes you could
[70:36]be in your social circle amongst your friends family always you hear
[70:43]negative words criticism some people are just bullied right this hadith from
[70:48]the imam islam gives you consolation don't worry it's sad of course
[70:51]but you're not losing anything it's zakat for you allah will purify
[70:55]you more allah will elevate your status more any deeds that they
[70:58]have allah will give it to you so don't worry you're not
[71:00]losing anything free hassan another meaning of zakat is when something grows
[71:07]right when something grows we call it zecca it became more the
[71:14]imam is saying the more they slander me don't think that they
[71:20]will bury my name no blacks more people will hear about me
[71:25]more people will investigate and they'll know who ali ibn abi talib
[71:27]is so don't think you can bury my name the more you
[71:31]slander me the more people will even know about my name and
[71:35]sometimes that is the case subhanallah yes did someone have a question
[71:41]yes brother um i was uh curious for this part over here
[71:48]for purification there was another hadith islam that came to my mind
[71:57]which he says uh time lowered me and lowered me and lowered
[72:02]me until i was compared to so and so yes as if
[72:05]we're equal is it possible that he's he's predicting that such cursing
[72:13]would show historically number one obviously that there is no sahaba that
[72:18]if you can curse one and the others are pressing him exactly
[72:23]for companions cursing and companion then one of them must be corrupt
[72:26]and second they can't both be upright he had nothing to do
[72:30]with uh there was no friendship neither was imam hasanando yes because
[72:38]today you know some salafi wahhabis they're trying to push for the
[72:42]idea that all the sahaba were friends they were friends they were
[72:47]good by highlighting this the imam said no there will be a
[72:51]man who comes after me who's a companion and he will slander
[72:54]me so don't think we were at peace so would it be
[72:56]purification from this kind of association with possibly possibly that imam saying
[73:03]this is purification for me just to show the world that these
[73:06]filthy rulers had nothing to do with me yeah that's a good
[73:12]uh analysis as well when you examine the history of islam and
[73:16]the expansionist governments and the corruption that they caused right basically imam
[73:21]ali is saying look that has nothing to do with me don't
[73:25]compare these evil people to me and that's purity for imam ali
[73:28]that's a very nice way of looking at it i'll conclude my
[73:31]dear brothers and sisters with just briefly the story of uh rochester
[73:37]and also maithamit tamar because that's how they got killed so ibn
[73:42]ziyad came to power he imprisoned them he tortured them this is
[73:48]right before karbala maithamut tamar was killed i think ten days before
[73:53]the battle of karbala so we're talking about this time frame year
[73:57]60 of the hijra the daughter of roche delhajari her name is
[74:05]kanwa she narrates how her father died and basically to summarize it
[74:12]she says that father had a very special relationship with imam alayale
[74:17]imam ali had entrusted him with the secrets and he had given
[74:22]him special knowledge ibn ziyat discovers that rosheid al-hajari has access to
[74:28]unseen knowledge and that he is a very close companion of imam
[74:32]ali alayhi salah so in a long story he summons russia delhi
[74:36]and he threatens him he tells him i've been told that you're
[74:42]close to ali slander him now curse imam ali he says never
[74:45]i'll never curse him he tells him if you don't curse him
[74:51]i'm going to kill you rasheed told him yes my master has
[74:54]already prepared me for that ali ibn abi talib once asked me
[75:02]rashad how do you find it if one day adai ibn daya
[75:03]this corrupt the son of a corrupt man meaning ibn ziyad if
[75:09]he will summon you and he will command you to slander me
[75:12]what would you do he told him i never i would never
[75:17]do that i would die defending your name and he informed me
[75:21]my master that you will cut my hands my limbs and my
[75:28]feet and my tongue and crucify me that's how you'll kill me
[75:35]ibn ziyad told rosheid al-hajari i am going to prove that your
[75:39]master meaning imam ali is a kaddab is a liar i'll crucify
[75:43]you i'll cut your hands i'll cut your feet but i won't
[75:46]cut your tongue to falsify imam ali because now you just publicly
[75:51]testified that imam ali gave you knowledge of the future and he
[75:55]told you that i will cut your hands and feet and tongue
[75:58]i'll leave your tongue just to show your master is a liar
[76:02]so they captured him there was a palm tree there is a
[76:06]long story even about the palm tree read it it's fascinating and
[76:11]how how hojar would come imam ali had showed him that palm
[76:15]tree and he would come and pray and even give it water
[76:18]so basically they crucify him on that palm tree and then they
[76:25]amputate his hands and feet can you just imagine the pain here
[76:28]people are now coming it's a scene right in the midst of
[76:36]kufa you have someone who is being crucified so people were passing
[76:39]by rosheid al-hajari took this as an opportunity to do da'wah to
[76:45]tell the people who imam ali is anyone who would pass by
[76:49]he found a free member free pulpit this uh this is the
[76:53]virtue of imam ali this is ibn ziyad he's so corrupt he
[76:55]started to expose beni umayya and to talk about the virtues of
[77:00]the ahlil bait he started to mobilize the people against ibn ziyad
[77:05]ebin ziyad was told you fool what did you do you gave
[77:09]this man a free podium he's turning the people against you so
[77:12]he told them silence him cut his tongue that man the jalad
[77:18]he came the guy who tortures he told him roshad give stick
[77:23]out your tongue tell them what do you want to do he
[77:28]says by the orders of the amir i have to cut it
[77:29]he told him i thought your amir decided to falsify my emir
[77:34]and he said i will prove that your amir is a liar
[77:39]so what happened now he said no these are the orders of
[77:43]the amir so they cut his tongue and exactly what imam ali
[77:47]said happened with russia he started to bleed to bleed until he
[77:50]became a shahid his daughter narrates how she came and she saw
[77:54]him you know in that state and there was a conversation between
[77:59]them same thing happened to maithamit tamar maitham was a very close
[78:04]companion of imam ali he used to sell dates in kufa imam
[78:09]ali ibn abi talib he purchased him as a slave he was
[78:13]owned by a woman he purchased him as a slave and the
[78:17]imam al-islam basically raised methamphetamine in fact imam ali gave him you
[78:24]know that name maitham he had another name so the imam al-islam
[78:27]was very close to maitham to the point where maitham one one
[78:34]year before he died he went to hajj during the hajj he
[78:40]met um she told him who are you he told her i
[78:42]am maitham maithamit tamar she told him your maithamit tamar he said
[78:49]yes why what do you know about me she says i swear
[78:54]by allah it's as if i remember in the midst of the
[78:58]night when the prophet would come with imam ali to my room
[79:01]so many times i would hear the prophets mentioned to imam ali
[79:07]about a man called maithamut in the midst of the night i
[79:10]would hear your name and the prophet is giving his wasaya to
[79:13]imam ali about you your maitha amitamani says yes i am so
[79:19]he farewelled her and then maithan went back to kufa and that's
[79:24]when ibn ziyad basically he imprisoned him and that's why they could
[79:28]not join imam hussain islam because they were killed before the battle
[79:31]of karbala same thing happened with maitham subhanallah they crucified him and
[79:36]he started to speak the virtues of the alibaba peace be upon
[79:39]them and they finally cut his tongue that's how they died so
[79:44]we have these two shaheeds rashed al-hajari and maithamit tamar who died
[79:49]because they refused to slander imam alibn and the imams of bait
[79:53]really praised them for this act of sacrifice any questions about the
[79:59]sermon muhammad muhammad
