[1:07]in the name of God the most beneficent the most merciful all

[1:23]The Prophet Muhammad sallallah alai my respected brothers and sisters did the

[1:36]prophet Muhammad s Al shrike his wife AA did he beat her

[1:43]did he shove her did he poke her did he slap her

[1:47]when a person opens sah Muslim amongst other texts you will find

[1:54]that alai was ready to leave a print on his wife's body

[2:02]and that if his wife had irritated him he was ready to

[2:08]strike her hard if not shove her of course I use all

[2:10]these different words because there are Scholars who are confused when they

[2:15]come across this there are Scholars who have to defend the prophet

[2:20]peace be upon him and his family but also defend and in

[2:24]some cases don't be surprised if they have more of a reference

[2:27]for AA but that's another story of course no one will admit

[2:33]that but your actions speak louder than your words so now when

[2:36]we see in sah Muslim for example a Hadith that might say

[2:40]the prophet shoved hard or pushed AA away or if there are

[2:47]a hadiths that show that aa's own father Abu Bakr and's own

[2:52]father Omar were very ready to hit their daughters what does that

[2:57]portray about the religion of Islam because we know that whether you're

[3:01]coming from an angle that hates Islam or coming from an angle

[3:06]of someone inquisitive about Islam or coming from an angle of about

[3:09]a person talking about I don't know gender studies in pre-islamic Arabia

[3:13]it's a very problematic moment when you're trying to discuss domestic abuse

[3:20]and its permissibility within the religion of Islam I think throughout my

[3:25]travels one of the central questions that I've always been asked is

[4:28]if you come to this particular verse known as the wife beating

[4:31]verse in Surah four of the Quran verse number 34 what does

[4:37]the verse say all of you know the verse very well my

[4:39]dear brothers and sisters come with me over here men have authority

[4:55]over woman on account of the qualities with which God has caused

[4:59]the one of them to accept the other and for what they

[5:02]spend of their property all of you could see the verse very

[5:05]clearly men have the authority what is this what is what is

[5:16]non-muslim men have the authority over woman on account of the qualities

[5:19]with which God has caused the one of them to excel the

[5:46]as to those whose perverseness you fear whatever perverseness means admonish them

[20:49]came to know that my daughter has caused pain to the prophet

[20:52]of Allah how dare she does it they being father they have

[20:57]the right to slap as I said people will raise the prophet

[27:34]and Omar and the prophet very comfortable in the house now we

[29:13]attractions or of patiently bearing the straights and circumstances with the prophet

[29:18]for which they will have a great reward with Allah they chose

[29:21]Allah and his messenger and the home of the Hereafter may Allah

[29:25]be pleased with them then Allah gave them the best of both

[29:28]both of this world and of the Hereafter alari narrated from the

[29:34]wife of the Prophet that messenger of Allah came to her when

[29:36]Allah commanded him to give his wife the chore she said the

[29:40]messenger of Allah started with me and I said I am going

[29:42]to tell you about something and you do not have to hasten

[29:46]to respond until you consult your parents and so on notice over

[29:52]here that Imam Ahmed recorded that jab said Abu Bakr may Allah

[29:56]be pleased with them came to ask asked permission to see the

[30:22]Allah be pleased with them said I will tell the prophet something
