[5:17]the most fascinating miracles in human history indeed you find that the

[5:23]religion of christianity is not the only religion that attests to the

[5:26]miracles of nebissa alaihissalam if you see within the religion of islam

[5:33]the religion of islam looks at the miracles of nebissa alaihissalam and

[5:37]the religion of islam recognizes that these miracles were of the utmost

[5:41]importance when it came to defining and to proving the message of

[5:49]nabi alaihissalam because the reality is that every prophet of god when

[5:53]they come with a message may face a certain moment where the

[5:56]people around them don't believe in their message imagine you come to

[6:01]a group of people and you come with what seems like the

[6:04]most basic message a message of morality a message of ethics a

[6:10]message of theology then all of a sudden you see that the

[6:13]people around you are not necessarily believing in your prophethood there are

[6:19]question marks not just by people who are part of the aristocracy

[6:22]or the status quo or the ruling classes but sometimes even those

[6:27]who have believed in prophets before you all of a sudden don't

[6:32]believe in you at his time there were those who had believed

[6:34]in moses before him who had believed in dawood before him who

[6:38]had believed in sulaiman before him who had believed in all of

[6:43]these prophets of god before him but when it came to him

[6:46]all of a sudden there was a question mark who do you

[6:48]think you are why should we believe in you why should we

[6:52]follow you this of course occurs with prophets who have come before

[6:57]him and that's when you see that prophets of god ask god

[7:01]for help at this moment why because the prophet of god is

[7:06]not self-sufficient a prophet of god is not independent reality is a

[7:10]prophet of god is in constant need of god's direction constant need

[7:15]of god backing them constant need and reality of a patch on

[7:18]the back all of us as human beings when we see that

[7:23]our mission is not necessarily working out people are not necessarily listening

[7:28]to us we need support in many cases the prophets of god

[7:31]would need the support of their lord when it came to their

[7:36]nations their nations may have seen certain personalities who they favored above

[7:39]those prophets so prophets of god would either do one of two

[7:43]things i the prophets of god would supplicate to god and say

[7:48]to him god that we're in need of your help i am

[7:51]someone who is defeated i need your support literally a line in

[7:58]the quran or they would ask god for a miracle why because

[8:01]they've been challenged that if you claim that you are the messiah

[8:05]or you claim that you are more special than all of us

[8:09]you claim that you are the voice of god on earth therefore

[8:12]show us something which is supernatural something which is extraordinary this tahadi

[8:20]or this challenge when it comes is normally followed by a miracle

[8:23]for those people because those people can turn around and say what's

[8:28]the difference between me and you i can do many things that

[8:30]you claim to be able to do you claim to know the

[8:35]stories of prophets who have come before you i know the stories

[8:37]of prophets who have come before me you claim to know about

[8:42]the nations that have come before you i know the stories of

[8:45]nations who've come before me show me something which is out of

[8:50]the ordinary and then i might believe in you notice that some

[8:54]of them will not say straight away that we believe in you

[8:56]some of them will say i might believe in you because the

[8:59]human being at the end of the day even if you show

[9:02]them the heavens and the earth in some cases they are too

[9:03]obstinate in some cases they are too arrogant therefore you found when

[9:09]it came to prophets of god within the quran at times one

[9:12]prayer of theirs was enough to guide the group of people at

[9:16]times one prayer of this was in a way enough to destroy

[9:21]a group of people at times one prayer of theirs meant that

[9:24]god was able to support them with different types of miracles in

[9:29]arabic the word for a miracle is a particular miracle that is

[9:37]given to a prophet of god only nobody but a prophet of

[9:43]god could be given a marriage islam you might find that there

[9:46]may be holy saints who succeed the prophet of god who might

[9:52]be given what is known as karamat certain blessings or certain honorific

[9:57]moments but when it came to the prophets of god they were

[10:00]given mahajis and that these majors were meant to be a reply

[10:03]to the tahadi of the people of their time when the people

[10:08]of their time had put forward a challenge that if you claim

[10:13]to be a prophet of god then show us something that none

[10:16]of us could do show us something that is greater than what

[10:46]something out of the ordinary in the time of every prophet of

[10:51]god there was always a group of people who were experts in

[10:54]a certain area and so this group of people if you were

[10:57]the same level as them you wouldn't be acknowledged as a prophet

[11:01]you would have to do something where those groups of people themselves

[11:04]would turn around and say that you know what there's something special

[11:08]about him when it came to jesus son of mary one miracle

[11:13]no two no four no six no ask many muslims and christians

[11:19]in the world today add up the number of miracles that you

[11:22]think jesus son of mary had i guarantee you muslims might come

[11:26]up with five or six christians might come up with four or

[11:29]five tonight i'm going to list 10 miracles of nabi isa alaihissalam

[11:34]of which some of them are similar with the bible and christianity

[11:38]some of them are different from the bible and from christianity let's

[11:42]tonight examine these and i'd like to do this in the following

[11:48]stages number one which of the prophets before jesus had a miracle

[11:52]that highlighted a special supernatural act above the time of his people

[12:00]number two of the miracles mentioned in the bible jesus is the

[12:04]one who changed water into wine do we as muslims agree that

[12:10]he had the miracle of changing water into wine according to john

[12:15]two and why do we muslims reject this completely number three in

[12:18]the quran as well as in the world of the traditions what

[12:23]are the miracles of jesus allah starting from his birth all the

[12:28]way throughout the quran how do we see ten miracles where god

[12:31]discusses jesus and the greatness of jesus further than that are these

[12:39]miracles performed by jesus himself or are these dependent on god's permission

[12:44]and how important is the word and what are the different opinions

[12:52]in relation to the william god gives when he says in relation

[12:56]to these supernatural feats further than that what was the miracles of

[12:59]the prophet muhammad and if the prophet muhammad did not have the

[13:03]same miracles as jesus then who's greater jesus and how can we

[13:10]also see that in some cases the miracle of the prophet could

[13:13]be seen as the holy book but in other cases there could

[13:18]be a human with muhammad who was his greatest miracle let's examine

[13:22]this and dissect the topic in complete depth when we look within

[13:26]the holy quran we find that the prophet jesus before him the

[13:31]prophet moses was the first in reality where we witnessed the miracle

[13:36]as a reply to a challenge it's not that we hadn't seen

[13:41]miracles with prophets before muslim there were miracles that had occurred with

[13:45]prophets before musa alayhi but witnesses the first real definition where there

[13:54]is an opponent and that opponent is standing against the prophet that

[13:59]opponent uses a particular speciality of his time to drive an ideology

[14:06]and that prophet has an extraordinary act that replies to that people

[14:11]or those people of the time you find in moses's time pharaoh

[14:16]had his magicians these magicians to the eyes of many what is

[14:21]magic magic in the eyes of many is extraordinary if i see

[14:27]people like dynamo or i see people like david blaine and others

[14:30]you look at them sometimes and you're in disbelief at some of

[14:34]the things that they perform as then you'll see that magic is

[14:37]seen as one of the greatest sins within the religion of islam

[14:41]because a human being can really being or of a person to

[14:45]such a level that if that person flicks their fingers they can

[14:48]even lead them to a different direction altogether you'll find that for

[14:52]example magicians within our traditions are frowned upon today i see that

[14:57]some people for their birthday parties bring a magician home for the

[15:00]kids and someone says what's the harm the reality is that if

[15:04]a child falls in love with that world the child could go

[15:07]on to practice that world and some of that world is known

[15:12]as black for a reason why would you call it black magic

[15:14]the reason is because once you know how to deliver something where

[15:18]the eyes of the human being cannot perceive what you've done you

[15:23]can put them in a trance literally you could hypnotize them you

[15:27]could tell them that i will be the one who finishes this

[15:29]marriage for you leave it with me i'll be the one who

[15:34]destroys that person's business leave it with me hence in the greater

[15:38]sins magic was one of them but in the time of fair

[15:41]on what you had there were a group of magicians that group

[15:44]of magicians all they needed to do was put a stick with

[16:19]and the reality is the man we talk about tonight walked on

[16:21]water so what happens is that when the people saw that magic

[16:26]straight away there were people who used to say that you know

[16:30]what we follow these magicians forget prophets of god what did god

[16:35]do to help moses allah moses saw there was a tahani what

[16:38]was the tahadi how are you a prophet of god who are

[16:50]gave him a miracle related to his time that of course does

[17:23]challenge you're a prophet of god defeat these magicians moses turns around

[17:35]messenger of god he won't fear ever that his lord would leave

[18:56]speciality defeat us in our speciality when it came therefore what did

[18:59]we see of the first miracles that christianity believes jesus performed was

[19:04]which one the first of the miracles that christianity believes that jesus

[19:07]performed was the miracle of turning water into wine this is clear

[19:15]in the bible by the way you go to john 2 you'll

[19:17]see that there's a wedding taking place a wedding which is taking

[19:23]place not far from nazareth in an area called kana or cana

[19:27]they're in this area jesus has gone with his mother to a

[19:31]wedding jesus salam is in his let's say the age of 30

[19:37]because we believe 33 years of age he left this earth only

[19:42]33 years on the earth as we see him at the age

[19:46]of 30 him and his mom are a wedding what do you

[19:48]do at that time in the wedding masha allah the people of

[19:50]god what would they be doing then make sure there's wine everywhere

[19:55]yeah and that's why tomorrow i'll discuss further jesus versus the jewish

[20:00]and why there was a major battle between the jewish community and

[20:05]some of their leaders and the way they preach religion and the

[20:08]way jesus preached religion and reality you're at a wedding mum's invited

[20:12]who's the mom who if i'm not mistaken 30 years earlier has

[20:17]been involved in arguably the most important moment in the history of

[20:21]that area she has been invited to a wedding and there's wine

[20:26]being served everywhere okay in those days they used to expect the

[20:30]wine to be the best of the best yep and they used

[20:34]to be actually experts there who would sit there who'd know their

[20:36]wine they'd know their drink they'd know their food what we call

[20:40]food is yeah or the life of the party they're all sitting

[20:45]there wine is being passed around jesus is there 30 year old

[20:47]jesus is also drinking wine all of a sudden what happens the

[20:52]wine runs out now of course in a party you never want

[20:54]the wine to run out okay because then people will be in

[20:58]their senses we want the wine to stay so people can eventually

[21:01]be out of their senses and so what happens is at this

[21:05]moment that mary alaihissalam is told that there's no wine so mary

[21:12]alaihissalam goes to walk to her jesus and she tells him son

[21:20]there's no wine here wines run out jesus does not want to

[21:28]publicly begin his mission or to show his miracle but mom's requested

[21:32]that you know what to have party and wines run out and

[21:36]so what did jesus do jesus says to someone you see those

[21:39]vessels go fill them up the person's thinking about there's no wine

[21:42]how can i fill them up he said no go fill them

[21:45]up with water and so he goes to fill them up with

[21:47]water jesus from there blesses the water when they go and take

[21:53]it to for example the one who's in charge of the wedding

[21:55]and the one who drinks the wine the one who's the expert

[21:58]he drinks it and he's amazed at how great the wine is

[22:02]in this party and so therefore the messiah the spokesman of god

[22:12]became on that particular day the one who had spread the wine

[22:16]for the whole party water because of his prayer his touch has

[22:20]become wine and that's why you find in christian communities this is

[22:25]debated on a number of lines a number of ways don't get

[22:27]me wrong there are some of our christian brethren out there who

[22:30]do not believe that alcohol is beneficial for society and therefore they

[22:36]don't believe that this is wine which is an intoxicant they believe

[22:38]that either as some will even say it lately that this could

[22:44]have been grape juice yes water was turned into grape juice reality

[22:47]is the people of the time don't necessarily turn around and say

[22:50]this is the best grape juice we've ever tasted that man who's

[22:55]there is an expert that this is wine nor is grape juice

[22:59]necessarily known as the most famous drink in a party the reality

[23:01]is that that was wine and what makes it worse for some

[23:06]of the christian groups who deny that this is wine is they

[23:08]say that those who say it is wine are really saying that

[23:13]god or the son of god or jesus is the one who's

[23:16]been the enabler for people to marry make with wine because today

[23:20]if i see someone out there who's a christian and you'll see

[23:24]him you'll see that there are some devout christians wallah in south

[23:28]america but nobody can attend a party like them and in that

[23:31]party drink is a must for them drink is a must don't

[23:36]get me wrong the crosses are everywhere you'll see the crucifix everywhere

[23:40]but alcohol is drunk while jesus is here you'll see that they're

[23:44]at a party no issue someone might turn around and say how

[23:48]is it that these christians who are so devout lovers of god

[23:51]how do they reach a level they drink so much while they

[23:56]have jesus literally on their chest and that they're at parties drinking

[24:00]sometimes there are parties where people who say they are christian are

[24:04]drinking more than anybody else mind you that goes for other religions

[24:06]as well there are some religions in this world originally their teachings

[24:09]were not about drink if you look for example i'll name you

[24:12]two in particular christianity and sikhism both of them are not proponents

[24:19]of alcohol but their people love a good drink and it's sad

[24:22]because if they go back to their origin the original teachings were

[24:25]not that a person gets intoxicated or goes towards a part of

[24:28]the drink but if i see in christianity i said why because

[24:32]i see that in john 2 it says that the lord himself

[24:37]or the son of god is the one who made white and

[24:39]like a bartender in reality and it's sad to say it but

[24:44]i see a party where the human being can easily lose their

[24:49]senses you look in the world today majority christian countries how many

[24:53]fights there are on a friday night how many fights there are

[24:55]on a saturday night why because of alcohol's availability you think that

[25:00]we as muslims would ever accept that jesus son of mary turns

[25:03]water into wine completely rejected never would we as muslims accept this

[25:08]and that's why in churches until today giving a small bit of

[25:13]wine at a certain period or priests maybe in some cases not

[25:16]all but in some cases having some wine in a christmas period

[25:22]for example or in a festivity no problem at all why because

[25:24]they say if jesus was the one who turned water into wine

[25:30]so what's the issue as well at the same time of us

[25:34]drinking wine what's the problem on christmas if you go to a

[25:36]christian household in christmas do you expect to see some wine yes

[25:40]you do there are christian families until they drink wine for us

[25:44]no prophet of god ever touched alcohol never never even if you

[25:50]tell me it's not intoxicant grape juice the reality is that that

[25:53]one story has led to a group of people say what's wrong

[25:55]with wine and that's why we mentioned when it came to nebinu

[25:59]when they talk about how drunk they were and they end up

[26:03]sleeping with their daughters or they end up doing haram because of

[26:06]what because of alcohol how could someone come to a level where

[26:09]they say jesus son of mary the purest of god's creation ends

[26:14]up for a party that lacks wine turning water into wine for

[26:17]them when i say this i say with all respect because i

[26:23]am somebody who not only is in a world of interfaith dialogue

[26:28]but also has many christian friends but there comes a point where

[26:31]a person has to sit back and ask where did these stories

[26:33]change how did we get these stories john by the way is

[26:39]not the first of the gospels john is the latest of them

[26:44]the first of course is mark matthew luke they call them the

[26:47]synoptics john comes later and john has seen the development and then

[26:50]comes with his conclusions anyway these attributions of these names i've discussed

[26:55]already and how these are attributed a couple of centuries after these

[26:58]people were even around so we believe that he turned water into

[27:02]wine no way we reject that completely then what miracles do we

[27:08]muslims believe i said ten someone said said ahmad ten miracles i

[27:13]know a couple of head but ten yes ten where do we

[27:17]begin with if we were to mention ten let's begin right from

[27:22]the beginning the virgin birth that's a miracle in itself isn't it

[27:53]will turn around and say that nabi isa is the most special

[27:59]because he had no father adam had no father and no mom

[28:01]adam was clay and god created the spirit and breathed it by

[28:08]the way something that accompanies even the imams yes they say that

[28:16]the in some cases they talk of a spirit created for jesus

[28:18]in other cases they talk of a spirit that god has created

[28:23]that is even higher than the angels accompanies the prophets and accompanies

[28:28]the imam someone says how can there be a creation higher than

[28:31]the angels read for me all of you last night s the

[29:00]angels i can understand i know all of them so who's the

[29:04]rooh the rule has a creation above the angels someone used to

[29:10]say that the mala the rule has jibrael is that spirit which

[29:19]is created in this case breathed into the virgin mary the first

[29:23]miracle is that jesus was born from a virgin birth every muslim

[29:28]believes in this immaculate conception we all believe in it we share

[29:34]this with christianity that we believe it was a virgin birth the

[29:38]second miracle is what you speak to the people in the cradle

[29:46]subhanallah the bible doesn't say this the quran does i'm amazed how

[29:56]christians cannot like muslims when we are the ones who give the

[30:00]honorific description of jesus speaking from the cradle the bible doesn't when

[30:08]he spoke what did he say so now what do we see

[30:18]from the cradle he said i am a servant of allah first

[30:22]thing ironically that he says blatantly imagine he could have said anything

[30:27]else why does he say servant first because he knows and the

[30:29]lord knows that in the future all sorts of attributions will be

[30:36]made so what do we have here that's speaking from the cradle

[30:41]yes that the quran said you speak to the people in the

[30:50]cradle and in your maturity why why not just say speak from

[30:54]the cradle even when he grew up after having spoken while he

[30:57]was a baby at the age of three he became a prophet

[31:02]of god for his people answering their questions someone came to him

[31:06]one day and said to him imam after you who is it

[31:09]he said this young one they said but he's three he said

[31:11]jesus son of mary was the same age when he was a

[31:14]prophet for the people answering their questions how three years of age

[31:21]third miracle in the med you were speaking in the cradle to

[31:29]the people what was what and when you grew up not grew

[31:35]up 26 31 33 3 years old he's already answering seven years

[31:40]old he's going out preaching talking imagine that's another another miracle was

[31:46]what number four angels were present at his birth and at the

[31:53]birth of muhammad not just that he was circumcised already at birth

[32:01]we believe the prophets of allah don't go for circumcision they're circumcised

[32:06]already when they're born no one can see their private area for

[32:12]us we may go to a local doctor the doctor we give

[32:16]the baby and there is circumcision yes but for what for the

[32:20]prophets you can't go and take any prophet to anyone even us

[32:22]we don't want someone see our children in the shower in the

[32:26]bath how then do you expect allah to allow his prophets to

[32:28]be seen in this way no he is born circumcised he never

[32:33]had to go for a circumcision that's another miracle another of the

[32:38]miracles was what when he asked for food from heaven god sent

[32:44]down food for him from heaven which surah in the quran is

[32:48]named after food that was sent surah 5 of the quran we

[32:52]discussed it a few nights ago when the disciples said can god

[32:58]send down food from heavens and nabi isa was shocked how could

[33:01]you who are my disciples are such a question do you doubt

[33:05]no we want an increased authenticity 5 from verse 113 onwards he

[33:21]asks for food from jannah food from jannah came down for him

[33:28]and his disciples another of the miracles another of the miracles is

[33:34]what that he could tell you what you've eaten in your houses

[33:37]three days ago five days ago eight days ago because you know

[33:41]when people come and question you as a prophet you mean like

[33:43]this guy's a madman this guy's a sorcerer especially the children of

[33:47]israel if anyone was the king of that it wasn't the romans

[33:52]the children of israel many prophets this guy's a sorcerer this guy's

[33:56]a magician this guy's mad fighting them killing them in some cases

[34:02]for allah unfortunately so now you're gonna have to have to reply

[34:04]you're truly a prophet call yourself the king you call yourself the

[34:07]king of the jews you call yourself a messiah he said yes

[34:12]prove it quran says 3 verse 49 i am the one who

[34:20]can tell you what you're eating what you've eaten what you will

[34:22]eat someone said okay what are you in my house last week

[34:25]this you at this in the morning you're at this in the

[34:26]evening you had this for breakfast you had this for lunch next

[34:29]what did i eat in my house you had this you had

[34:33]this yeah that is another of the miracles another of the miracles

[34:43]of jesus is that he could tell you what you've stored in

[34:46]your vaults at home and in your wardrobes and in your closets

[34:59]this idea of is this idea of what is the idea of

[35:04]a vault yes sometimes when someone talks of the hera what does

[35:10]that normally mean it means my treasure my vault so therefore he

[35:14]would be able to tell you what you've hidden for example in

[35:18]the kitchen you have the of appliances and you have within the

[35:22]kitchen certain cabinets he can tell you what you've stored in there

[35:27]that's another of his miracles because imagine someone comes to you and

[35:30]this is the quran saying it not hadith the quran says that

[35:33]asa tells them that i can tell you what you eat at

[35:39]home and what you've stored in your house right now you deny

[35:41]me as a prophet you make fun of me you think i'm

[35:45]a madman go to your house now open this cabinet in the

[35:48]kitchen to the right hand side see what's in there you've put

[35:51]this much for example i don't know let's say this much mustard

[35:53]seeds you put this much for example flour you put that much

[35:57]barley that's what you have in your house right now quran says

[36:00]that he could do that that's another of the miracles another of

[36:03]the miracles is that he could walk on water water for him

[36:10]normally we need the boat or the of course some people turn

[36:16]around and say i bet it was stones yes the water was

[36:17]for example shadow and he no no nebia all of these there

[50:39]would always tell them if you want to see all their characteristics

[50:47]off the night in sha allah the holy prophet peace be upon

[50:50]him and his family he would be asked one day about the

[50:53]prophets of god and you know what he'd say if you want

[50:59]to see the face and the worship of jesus the face and

[51:05]the worship of jesus and you want to see the asceticism of

[51:10]john yahya and you want to see the generosity of sulaiman alaihissalam

[51:17]all you have to do is look at the face of ali

[51:20]that's it imagine imagine these are prophets each had their own characteristics

[51:26]one was known for his worship another was known for his asceticism

[51:30]another was known for his generosity rasulullah says you want to see

[51:33]a miracle you want to see the moon split you want to

[51:37]see pebbles talk forget all of that look at that man's face

[51:41]every prophet of allah's characteristics can be seen in the face of

[51:46]ali phenomenal therefore when people come to you and say what is

[51:50]rasulullah's great miracle yes we can show the quran without a doubt

[51:52]we can show all of these others but i tell you one

[51:56]thing for me enough of the life of the prophet is that

[51:59]he left for me that's enough for me as a miracle which

[52:02]i can hold on to in my life did the muslims hold

[52:05]on to that miracle did they all know did the muslims hold

[52:13]on the day of said man in the sunni world people said

[54:02]ask you how difficult was that for saying her father being called
