[0:00]audhu billahi min ash-shaitani rajim bismillah r-rahman r-rahim al-hamdu lillahi rabbil alameen
[0:07]wa sallahu allah sayidina muhammadin wa ala hele you being a pyrene
[0:15]mom Sonia Muhammad wonderful assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh we continue our journey into
[0:25]the life of the greatest creation of allah the holy prophet muhammad
[0:32]sallallahu aleyhi wa la the Prophet is now on his way from
[0:40]Mecca to Medina that is the grand blessed migration the prophet sallallaahu
[0:46]Hollywood did not enter the city of Medina he rather stayed in
[0:55]the village of Oba we examined why last week the prophets allah
[1:01]llahu allahu allah had imam ali ali saddam stay back in mecca
[1:07]in order to bring the family of the prophet the three Fatima's
[1:11]peace be upon them and also to fulfill the debts of the
[1:20]prophet or to give back the deposits so the Prophet Sal Allahu
[1:23]Allahu Allah who was in Baba in that village waiting for the
[1:25]arrival of Imam Ali Ali Salaam so they would go together to
[1:33]Medina Kaaba was a very important village it had many wells and
[1:38]it served as the main water source for the city of Medina
[1:45]now in koba the prophets allah llahu allahu allah for the first
[1:50]time in history he had the freedom to establish a mosque to
[1:54]freely pray in Mecca Muslims were persecuted they did not have the
[2:01]freedom to practice the religion of Islam in Baba the Prophet could
[2:05]worship allah spanish allah publicly without being stoned without being harassed he
[2:09]had that freedom so the first thing that the Prophet does the
[2:14]village of boba is what to establish a mosque now historical accounts
[2:23]some of them tell us that the Companions actually suggested this to
[2:28]the Prophet I told Amiata so Allah now that were in Kaabah
[2:30]and we have the freedom to establish a mosque why shouldn't we
[2:34]establish a mosque some sources specifically mentioned Amari Barry osser he was
[2:42]the one who suggested this to the Prophet for example in a
[2:46]seal and Hanna BIA which is one of the sources on the
[2:51]prophets biography mentions that that Amari vinyasa was the one who came
[2:55]up with the idea and he made that suggestion to the prophet
[2:58]sallallaahu I do you ally in any case the Prophet had the
[3:04]intention of establishing a mosque in Koba so the Prophet conducted the
[3:11]groundbreaking for this mosque now this area was to the south of
[3:16]the city of Medina booba is about 3.5 kilometres to the south
[3:21]of the city of Medina so the distance between messages Baba the
[3:26]mosque of Kaaba today and the mosque of the prophet sallallaahu on
[3:31]in Medina is about 3.5 3.6 kilometers so we're talking about two
[3:36]point something miles not too far today baba is considered amongst the
[3:40]suburbs of Medina it's no longer it's no longer a distinct village
[3:43]it's part of the city of Medina because 3.5 kilometers is not
[3:50]a lot of distance so the Prophet gathered the rocks and he
[3:54]asked all the companions and the people of that village to participate
[4:01]let's all build this mosque together so they put the build the
[4:04]blocks the building blocks of the mosque to each other and they
[4:06]marked the area around the mosque and the construction started some accounts
[4:12]tell us that the Companions when they saw the Prophet lifting those
[4:19]blocks and the dust would gather on his blessed body they would
[4:23]come up to him they would tell him yo Sol Allah we
[4:29]sacrifice our life to you let us build this mosque don't carry
[4:32]these heavy blocks the Prophet Sal Allahu Allahu Allah would refuse he
[4:36]would say no I want to do this I want to participate
[4:41]myself in building this very first mosque in the religion of Islam
[4:46]woman also participated in the construction of this mosque we know this
[4:50]because of a report in the book majima as OA Zoe and
[4:57]Hayatou Sahaba these two books have mentioned an account from a man
[5:03]by the name of ebony ABI alpha he says when my wife
[5:11]passed away the wife of a blue-eyed be alpha he started saying
[5:15]to the people participate in her funeral carry her casket for I
[5:22]swear by God she was amongst the woman who would carry the
[5:25]blocks and the stones for the first messages in Islam for messages
[5:30]coma and then he mentioned that during the day in daylight hours
[5:38]the men would participate in the construction of the mosque and at
[5:43]night the woman would come and they would participate probably my personal
[5:48]analysis is that in conservative societies back then maybe a woman found
[5:54]it more comfortable to lift those you know blocks in the absence
[5:59]of men when men were not around otherwise there's no Islamic injunction
[6:03]that says women have to participate in a test like like that
[6:06]at night probably they felt more comfortable so we even had woman
[6:10]who participated in the establishment of this mosque now there's a very
[6:18]important question here that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ali start the
[6:22]construction of this mosque after Imam Ali Ali salam arrived or the
[6:32]Prophet started and then later a man Allison I'm arrived baba we
[6:36]don't exactly know our sources are not that clear one did destruction
[6:41]start but there are a couple of sources that indicate the construction
[6:47]started after among our Alison I'm arrived in Koba for instance one
[6:53]of those sources that mentions this is a book called waffa waffa
[7:01]by a Sunni Shafi'i scholar as some hoo-dee-hoo was also a historian
[7:07]he extensively writes about the history of the city of Medina he
[7:10]mentions this hadith from the book al Kabeer Maya Papa Rani and
[7:16]this hadith is from a man by the name of Jabbar even
[7:22]Samara now some Hudy says there is a weak reporter in this
[7:26]chain so some scholars of hadith might not accept the authenticity of
[7:35]this hadith my analysis is the reason why they considered this reporter
[7:40]to be weak is because he narrates a big virtual for Imam
[7:44]Ali Ali Serra and historically even if you were a reliable person
[7:51]but if you were found to be narrating a hadith in praise
[7:55]of the activate peace be upon them oftentimes you would be accused
[8:01]of being a weak narrator that's how they would isolate them so
[8:03]some who D doesn't mention this hadith waits like there's a weak
[8:07]narrator in the chain of the hadith so what what does that
[8:13]idea stay as for she asked scholars I would have to look
[8:17]at the research about him specifically I'm not sure if there is
[8:24]research about him in our books but this is something we could
[8:26]look into but now I don't know whether Shia scholars do have
[8:32]an opinion about this particular narrator or not in any case the
[8:36]hadith says when the Prophet wanted to determine the area of the
[8:41]mosque because in order for you to establish a mosque first you
[8:47]have to designate the area right mark the borders of the mosque
[8:50]then you start the construction how did that happen according to these
[8:53]two sources the prophets of Allah Allah tells Abu Bakr ride this
[9:01]camel and let's see let the camel decide where the borders of
[9:07]the message adorn he rides the camel but the camel would not
[9:13]move so he came down then the Prophet Sal Allahu Allahu Allah
[9:16]instructs romanovna kitab he tells him ride the camel let's see if
[9:22]this is going to happen the camel refuses to move then finally
[9:27]the prophet sallallaahu are you Allah commands Imam Ali Ali Sinan he
[9:30]tells him right on the camel let's see what happens the camel
[9:33]started to move like in a perfect square marking the borders of
[9:41]the mosque when that happened the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ali stated
[9:47]in hama amaura build this mosque according to where the camel moved
[9:52]because the camel has been instructed to move instructed by who by
[9:56]allah span Wattana by the way if you find this kind of
[10:01]unusual we have many many instances in the prophet's life as we
[10:04]shall see when the prophet enters medina suddenly she a hadith authentic
[10:08]hadith that oftentimes when the Prophet wanted to designate an area for
[10:17]example the place that he would choose as his home in Medina
[10:20]the Prophet would say let's follow the camel the camel is instructed
[10:23]by a last panatela to go to a destination so we find
[10:27]that in the history of the Prophet this is not something unusual
[10:31]there are many many other examples in the prophet's life in which
[10:35]allah Spano to Allah would actually guide the camel to show the
[10:39]Muslims the borders for something or a specific area so based on
[10:46]this hadith we know that imam ali al islam then must have
[10:49]been present in kaaba when the construction construction started in any case
[10:54]you know there are some sunni scholars who have raised doubts about
[10:59]the authenticity of this hadith but we do have it in our
[11:05]sources so now the mask of is being constructed now did the
[11:12]prophet sallallaahu Allahu Allah pray Sunnah to Jamaa and Kaaba or no
[11:17]there are historical reports which state that the Prophet did pray Jamaa
[11:21]in baba and he let Sarah tell Gemma some historians and scholars
[11:29]have objected here they're like we doubt that the Prophet did do
[11:34]that why because when was surah 2 JAMA revealed so little German
[11:38]which commands Muslims to observe the Friday prayer was revealed a few
[11:46]years later in Medina when the Prophet was in Koba he had
[11:49]just migrated he has not entered the city of Medina yet surah
[11:54]2 JAMA was not revealed yet so how is it that the
[11:56]Prophet Sal Allahu Allahu Allah is praying salat al Juma in Cuba
[12:01]when surah children I was not revealed yet this doesn't add up
[12:04]therefore some scholars and historians have doubted these reports which state that
[12:11]the Prophet established salatul juma and kuba that's their objection what do
[12:16]you say about this objection do you find it a valid objection
[12:21]is it a valid objection can can we present a counter-argument yes
[12:29]some a hadith or some verses some versus any other counter-arguments so
[12:40]the brother is saying yes maybe surah to Jamaa as a complete
[12:43]surah was revealed later but maybe some verses of it was revealed
[12:46]earlier because that does happen in the Quran when he have a
[12:50]chapter in the Quran it doesn't mean all the verses came in
[12:53]that sequence no sometimes some verses would be revered earlier sometimes later
[12:58]any other counter-arguments so since the profit has the knowledge of let's
[13:11]say Sharia law Islamic law he was aware of salatul juma so
[13:18]he prayed it then alas vanity Allah reveals Sola to Juma so
[13:22]basically the counter-argument that many scholars have given is that surah -
[13:27]John does not state from today onwards you have selectively German where
[13:34]does that where's that stated in surah to Juma surah 2 JAMA
[13:39]I commands Muslims and makes a rattle Juma an obligation on them
[13:44]instead of being busy with your business go to selected German but
[13:50]the verse is not saying that gym I became washab on that
[13:53]day when the verse was revealed so it's very likely that selected
[13:57]Juma had become mandatory early on then when Muslims started neglecting salatul
[14:04]juma God reveals Sola to Jamaa pushing them to attend it because
[14:11]when we get their inch'allah will examine you know these very great
[14:15]companions when the prophet sal allahu allahu allah was establishing so that
[14:17]- german you know what they were doing other than the anta
[14:20]debates on some very close companions to the Prophet you know what
[14:23]they were doing they were doing business that's why I lied to
[14:28]rebuked them in the Quran in fact at one point the Prophet
[14:30]himself was praying so that - jamya was like five people behind
[14:37]him Imam Ali some for some of those good companions we'll examine
[14:39]the details in the future Allah had to rebuke them so he
[14:42]reveals Salah to Juma so surah jumma is not an indication that
[14:46]on that day suratul july became watchable it is possible that surah
[14:51]children I became Rajab before that but when Muslims started neglecting the
[14:56]Friday prayer God revealed this verse commanding them to observe it and
[15:02]not you know preoccupy themselves with business that's why Allah says what
[15:07]are they you know go to surah jumma and avoid doing business
[15:11]transactions it is possible well we don't call it selective Jamaa though
[15:20]when when we see sick aunts and history when they specifically say
[15:24]salatu JAMA they mean that to rakov the Gemara yeah they don't
[15:28]mean the the've or prayer being preyed on Friday that's what we
[15:37]understand from these accounts it's possible that is possible but many scholars
[15:43]have understood these reports to me and specifically saw that in German
[15:47]in any case we do have historical reports that the prophet sallallaahu
[15:50]Ali what it did pray so that two German Baba some scholars
[15:53]might accept these reports other scholars might doubt them and might you
[15:59]know even reject them messages Baba that very humble simple mosque that
[16:06]the Prophet established in Poobah to the south of the city of
[16:13]Medina was the first mosque in the religion of Islam that was
[16:18]established in the religion of Islam and in fact the Holy Quran
[16:25]praises this mosque in surah at-taubah verse 108 allah subhanaw taala States
[16:32]Lamas Jordan Oh sister an otaku I mean oh le yeoman aqualantic
[16:35]Ouma fee fee here agile on your head boon and yet AHA
[16:43]rule Allah who you have born Mata harine allah subhanaw taala in
[16:47]this verse states this is a mosque which is built on taqwa
[16:54]this is a mosque which is built on piety this is a
[16:56]mosque where you should pray in because the people of that mosque
[17:02]they want to be purified they are pious people a last panel
[17:06]Tata praises those who participated in you know this mosque generally speaking
[17:11]and Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala considers this mosque as a mosque that
[17:17]was established on good intentions on piety now surah at-taubah 1 was
[17:24]it revealed at the very end but Koba is at the very
[17:28]beginning this is right when the Prophet migrated this verse was not
[17:37]revealed when Baba was established this verse was revealed many many years
[17:42]later we're talking about eight nine years later there's a story to
[17:46]that when we get to it we'll examine it in detail but
[17:52]very briefly before the Prophet went to the Battle of Tabuk this
[17:55]is in the ninth year of the hegemon we're talking about 910
[17:58]years later after the Prophet migrated to Medina nine years later the
[18:03]hypocrites in a very interesting story that we'll examine when we get
[18:13]there they conspire and part of the conspiracy was to build a
[18:19]mosque close to Masjid Oba and that mosque would serve as their
[18:24]headquarters to create disunity and fitna in society that was their goal
[18:32]when they established the mosque they told him Jana so Allah come
[18:38]and be the one who would lead us in prayer here they
[18:40]wanted the Prophet to validate their mosque and give them importance so
[18:44]they would go ahead with their scheme those hypocrites the Prophet was
[18:51]about to leave he was getting ready to go to Tabuk so
[18:53]he told them I'm about to travel I can't come now he
[18:58]went to the Battle of Tabuk they Ricci they achieved victory the
[19:01]Prophet came back to Medina on his way to Medina right before
[19:07]the Prophet reaches the city limits of Medina Gibran it comes down
[19:12]to him Jabara ill tells him and Allah Spanish Allah reveals verse
[19:15]107 of Sura - Toma which precedes this verse Allah spirituality awesome
[19:22]these people have established a mask of harm Masjid our Allah calls
[19:28]their mask a mask of harm Allah prohibits the Prophet from entering
[19:33]that mosque he tells him don't enter that mosque don't ever in
[19:38]that mosque then Allah draws a parallel and he says the mosque
[19:45]of goba is a purified mosque that was based on topwe not
[19:49]this new mosque this mosque was built with evil intentions therefore don't
[19:55]ever go to that mosque and that mosque was raised down by
[19:59]the way we'll examine in the future why and how could a
[20:01]mosque which is supposedly holy be raised down we'll talk about that
[20:07]but basically that's what happened so Allah Spano tirana praises the mosque
[20:11]of baba when he talks about that other mosque of harm and
[20:14]that really is a lesson for us see Allah doesn't want us
[20:21]just to build mosques and buildings and construction allows teaching us in
[20:28]this verse what counts is to build a mosque on piety on
[20:32]sincere intentions that's what Allah wants from us and what you see
[20:38]in many parts of the world today you see government's Emile's I
[20:43]don't know who they're trying to show off with their money and
[20:46]they build these yet huge grand mosques that's not something that'll last
[20:51]Montana wants from us Allah wants piety a simple mosque that's based
[20:54]on good intentions is what a las Palitana wants allah doesn't want
[21:00]a fancy mosque for people to show off and flex their muscles
[21:07]yes sister the monetha pain the the the hypocrites sometimes would not
[21:15]join the Prophet on man on the battle they would come up
[21:18]with excuses the Quran rebukes them oh you know one of their
[21:23]excuses it's too hot out there you know what Allah says vulnera
[21:26]Gehenna ashhadu Hara that's what Allah says in the Quran say the
[21:30]fire of hell is harder and they would come up with excuses
[21:36]you know sometimes sometimes when the Prophet was going to battle you
[21:40]know these very great companions by the way they would come to
[21:43]the Prophet and they would tell him the other sort of law
[21:46]do you give us permission to come with you to the battle
[21:48]what kind of a question is that why are you asking for
[21:53]permission to go to the battle the Quran rebukes them that when
[21:55]the time for war comes you go and you try to put
[22:00]the prophet on the spot and seek special permission from him it's
[22:02]a command by God go and defend you don't need permission to
[22:07]go and fight the Prophet has already asked you to go and
[22:10]fight and defend the religion of Islam from those attacks so they
[22:13]would come up with all sorts of excuses many of them would
[22:17]not join the Prophet and even if they had to join the
[22:22]Prophet to save face they would not engage in the battlefield without
[22:25]going into too much details now because we'll see this step-by-step in
[22:30]the future chawla when we examine the battles the first and the
[22:33]second and the third show me one historical account from any book
[22:38]I'll accept it in any of the battles during the time of
[22:43]the Prophet like an active battle zone they struck one person in
[22:47]fact they had one scratch on their sword shown in fact what
[22:53]we see is fleeing they would usually flee from the battlefield yes
[22:58]those first three let alone other companions so yes many of those
[23:03]hypocrites would not even join the Prophet in his in his battles
[23:07]not all of them would go out with him to the pituitary
[23:09]Tabuk so the Holy Quran actually praises this mosque and also the
[23:16]tribe who hosted the Prophet in Koba who are the men who
[23:23]are more urban alpha as we mentioned last week the Prophet stayed
[23:26]with them baba was their village and they participated in the construction
[23:31]of this mosque Allah Spanish Allah praises them Allah says they are
[23:36]people who want to be purified they do have piety Benny am
[23:40]i banal they were the main participants and the establishment of this
[23:47]mosque this mosque has great virtues if you ever go to Hajj
[23:51]or Umrah and you visit the city of Medina make sure that
[23:57]you go to the mosque of Kaaba I'll share with you some
[23:59]Hadees from the prophet sallallaahu allamani and the imams of elevate in
[24:02]speaking about the virtues of masjid baba one hadith from the prophets
[24:08]of allah allahu allah states as-salatu famous judy koba camera if you
[24:13]go to masjid coma and you pray once honor Allah will give
[24:18]you the reward of what of one woman on ona's like the
[24:20]minor hatch it has a huge reward in the eyes of God
[24:26]in another hadith the Prophet sallallahu alehiwassallaam in Medina or his place
[24:34]of residence like for example your hotel and you do the will
[24:37]do in your home and you go to Masjid Caban for the
[24:43]sake of Allah simply to pray Allah subhana WA Ta'ala will grant
[24:47]you the table of the pilgrimage so the Prophet would actually encourage
[24:52]people to visit Masjid coma and the Prophet wants you to remember
[24:56]that history how I migrated how I came here how this mosque
[25:02]was established how it was established on taqwa these are lessons when
[25:06]we read the biography of the Prophet we're not just engaging in
[25:09]storytelling no these are lessons every step of the prophets life has
[25:17]so many valuable lessons for Humanity and another hadith Aquabat had been
[25:22]Clannad he says i asked al imam sadiq ali salam he says
[25:26]when i go to the city of medina i visit some mosques
[25:28]around the city of medina which one should i really visit the
[25:32]imam ali salaam tells him start with masjid baba make sure that
[25:38]you start with this mosque and you pray in it as much
[25:44]as you can because it is the first mosque that was established
[25:47]in islam by the holy prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa so the
[25:52]Prophet stays in baba in that village for about 10 to 15
[25:56]days he stays in that village Imam Ali Ali sallam has now
[26:03]arrived with Lady Fatima he said I'm his daughter with his mother
[26:06]Fatima bint I said and when the cousin of the Prophet Fatima
[26:09]bint azubu when they arrive and the mosque is the construction of
[26:17]the mosque starts the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa now decides to enter
[26:23]the city of medina itself now you can just imagine the excitement
[26:29]in the city of medina after all these years finally rasulullah sallallahu
[26:36]coming to our city there was so much joy in the streets
[26:43]people were anxiously waiting it's been about 3 years that the people
[26:46]of medina are now quite familiar with the quran with the teachings
[26:52]of islam they had already pledged allegiance in Mecca to the prophets
[26:58]in allahu allahu allah some companions of the prophet had already settled
[27:03]in medina teaching people the quran so they were anxiously waiting people
[27:07]had already started to establish you know islamic rituals praying to allah
[27:11]subhanahu wa'ta'ala reciting the holy quran the people of medina had already
[27:16]taken the step to get rid of the idols before the arrival
[27:21]of the prophet they had destroyed the idols and even burned them
[27:25]to demonstrate their towhead and belief in the one god there's an
[27:29]interesting story that is narrated from i'm urban Jammu I'm Arab in
[27:40]Jammu was one of the Chiefs of Bennis element basically he had
[27:45]placed an idol in his house now some of those people of
[27:51]Medina who now rejected the idols in order to make him realize
[27:54]that this wooden Idol was not God stop insulting your intellect and
[28:00]insulting God by worshipping a piece of wood you yourself you're greater
[28:04]than a piece of wood why are you worshipping that so in
[28:09]order to make him realize that you know what they did they
[28:11]would take that Idol now there was a place because at the
[28:16]time there weren't like public toilets but basically there was like a
[28:20]pit where people would go to relieve themselves so they took this
[28:23]Idol and they threw it in that pit this guy gets that's
[28:27]his God that he worships so he goes and he sees his
[28:32]God in that pit he gets angry he gets upset so he
[28:38]takes out the idol washes it cleans it brings it back to
[28:41]his house and starts worshiping it they do that again when he
[28:47]gets frustrated finally it seems he goes back to his senses he
[28:50]takes out a sword and he hangs it around the neck of
[28:54]the idol because the idol was like you know like a figure
[28:56]he's like you know what if you really God defend yourself next
[29:03]time when they come and humiliate you like that and throw you
[29:08]in that pit right that toilet defend yourself so he sees the
[29:12]idols missing he goes looking for the idol this time he finds
[29:19]the idol tied to a dead dog thrown in a well that's
[29:21]where he finds his idol he's looking at that pitiful scene his
[29:27]God is tied to a dead dog and the sword is still
[29:28]hanging around his neck he couldn't even use it finally he comes
[29:31]back to his senses and he says beautiful lines of poetry in
[29:38]Arabic which mean he says by Allah if you had been a
[29:43]true God you would not have been lying in a well tied
[29:45]to a dead dog praise be to Allah who owns all blessings
[29:49]it is he who was merciful and who nourishes and gives reward
[29:53]it is he who grants us salvation before we and we are
[29:58]consigned to the grave so he starts worshiping the one God when
[30:02]he finally realizes that can be done what a miserable God for
[30:05]this piece of wood to be if it cannot even defend itself
[30:11]from that and people can just do that to it so the
[30:13]people of Medina were now really ready for to hate they had
[30:18]rejected idolatry and worshipping idols and they're now anxiously waiting for the
[30:21]prophets that allow anyone now the Prophet departs Baba which is about
[30:28]you know 2 to 3 miles away from the center of Medina
[30:30]and he's going north to enter the city itself now some sources
[30:37]like Bihari Mossad Ahmed Sela Hanabi they describe to us something that
[30:46]we find problematic when the Prophet was entering Medina they say that
[30:51]Abu Bakr was with the prophets and they were you know entering
[30:54]together in fact one source states they were riding on the same
[30:58]camel both of them on one camel entering the city of Medina
[31:02]now the way that they describe it is questionable why here's what
[31:07]they say their claim is that when the Prophet was entering Medina
[31:12]no one really recognized the Prophet and everyone recognized Abu back oh
[31:18]we recognize him this is Abu Bakr where is the Prophet in
[31:22]fact some of them thought he was the Prophet because you know
[31:28]he had that glorious I don't know appearance he had that shape
[31:32]as they say you know his beard had kind of become white
[31:37]and the their sources describe Abu Bakr as being a shape now
[31:41]shape in linguistically what does shake mean in the Arabic language and
[31:45]an elderly man right someone who was like over 50 60 in
[31:52]Arabic we call him shake and the profit is being described in
[31:55]these sources as volumn so when the Prophet enters Medina there was
[32:01]a whole arm who's the prophet and a sheikh who's Abu Bakr
[32:03]now when I'm in the Arabic language is used to refer to
[32:09]what kind of age group not not necessarily kids know young young
[32:13]man exactly you would describe a young man by saying : meaning
[32:17]20s 30s even we could use it for 40s fine but not
[32:23]50s and 60s so that's how they entered the city of Medina
[32:28]and Abu Bakr was getting all this attention until finally a black
[32:33]does something people like ah he's not the prophet that other guy
[32:36]with him is the Prophet he's sitting next to the Prophet the
[32:41]Sun is now directly above the Prophet Abu black Kim's and he
[32:44]shades the Prophet he put he put something to protect the Prophet
[32:48]from the Sun then they realize okay that must be the Prophet
[32:53]because Abu Bakr sir that man so he must be the Prophet
[32:59]now this is the account that we get from some of these
[33:02]sources how do you feel about these accounts even without even examining
[33:06]like the chain of narration let's just logically examine them why don't
[33:10]they make sense first of all if they recognize him you don't
[33:17]mistake him for someone else but this could be their argument that
[33:20]abou buck maybe they did not know exactly who he is but
[33:24]at least like his face was familiar to them the Prophet was
[33:28]not a familiar face to them that could be their argument that's
[33:38]what argument another argument exactly that's a very valid point the Prophet
[33:48]was known his face was known to many people remember the Prophet
[33:52]would actually meet tribes in Mecca when he wanted to introduce them
[33:56]to Islam in fact many people from Medina had already pledged allegiance
[34:01]to the Prophet that's why he came to Medina they had recognized
[34:04]his face now they'll come and say yeah but Abu Bakr he
[34:08]would travel sometimes to Syria he would pass through Medina same with
[34:11]the prophets on allow anyone it has mothers from Medina he's got
[34:14]uncles and aunts there on his trips to Syria as we saw
[34:19]before when he would go on those business trips he would pass
[34:22]through the city of Medina so how is it possible that they
[34:27]recognized the face of Abu Bakr on the face of the Prophet
[34:28]the greatest light God puts in any face they don't recognize it
[34:35]that's number one number two these sources indicate Abu but looked like
[34:39]a sheikh and the Prophet like a young man who was older
[34:41]the prophet of Abu Bakr who was older the prophets of Allah
[34:48]Allah he was two years older than Abu bike because Abu Bakr
[34:51]was born 573 ad the prophet sallallaahu had two years after amal
[34:56]filled two and a half year twenty years and a half after
[35:00]the incident of the elephant the Prophet was born I'm in field
[35:03]570 ad so the Prophet was actually two years older than a
[35:10]black but these sources are claiming abou black like an elderly man
[35:12]and the Prophet was a young man what is this the Prophet
[35:17]the day he entered Medina he was 53 you don't use the
[35:19]word golem in Arabic to refer to a 53 year old man
[35:24]when I'm is a 20 year old man maximum 30 years old
[35:28]not a 50 year old man so that in itself tells us
[35:30]these narrations are problematic they're doubtful maybe they were forged to give
[35:36]importance to Abu Bakr then you know he was the one who
[35:40]you know he had that age factor because they used this in
[35:44]sahifa by the way when they wanted to choose him as select
[35:46]him they're like well he's he's one of the eldest of the
[35:50]companions let's choosing him so they're trying to give that impression even
[35:53]during the prophet's life that he looks like very wise and old
[35:56]but these are doubtful claims so that's not something that we can
[36:01]accept number three we examined before there are historical sources that state
[36:11]when the Prophet reached baba with abu bakr after leaving the cave
[36:17]what did I will back do that same night he left Baba
[36:22]and he went to Medina he was not willing to stay in
[36:27]Baba and in fact he was frustrated why is the prophet waiting
[36:29]when the Prophet said I will not enter Medina until Ali bin
[36:33]Abi Talib comes so if we take that historical account then Abu
[36:36]Bakr was not even with the prophet when he entered Medina he
[36:39]was already in Medina so now we have conflicting reports that in
[36:43]itself creates a contradiction which makes us doubt these reports unless they
[36:48]could argue the following point they could present the following counter-argument they
[36:53]could say yes Abu Bakr went to Medina but then when the
[36:56]prophets decided to enter Medina he came to Koba because Kaaba is
[37:02]not that far from Medina you could in an hour you could
[37:03]walk you know what two three miles is not a lot in
[37:06]half an hour if you want fast you can get there he
[37:09]came to Koba and then he entered Medina they could use that
[37:12]as a counter argument but in any case our sources indicate Abu
[37:17]Bakr was already in Medina number four those sources which claimed that
[37:23]they were both riding on one camel why what's the justification for
[37:30]that because as we saw in the incident of the cave each
[37:31]one had a camel the Imam and his salami mama and he
[37:37]prepared those two camels or as we examined he paid for it
[37:38]abu bakr said i have prepared them the Prophet told him I'm
[37:42]an ally on Eastern on pay the amount so Abu back had
[37:45]his own camel the Prophet had his own camera why are they
[37:49]sitting on one camel that's not explained you know we need an
[37:52]explanation for that in any case we find these reports dubious how
[37:58]the prophets of Allah Allahu Allah entered the city of Medina so
[38:02]now for many days the people of Medina are anxiously waiting under
[38:06]the hot Sun they would come out waiting any minute the Prophet
[38:09]is now going to enter their City they would actually line up
[38:15]in the streets 500 of the Ansar five hundred horsemen in a
[38:18]show of respect and love for the Prophet they come out pouring
[38:23]in the streets when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ali now enters
[38:27]Medina is ecstatic it's jubilant these five hundred men come surrounding the
[38:33]Prophet to tell him that we support you and we are with
[38:38]you and everyone in Medina was shouting ya muhammad rasool allah kids
[38:42]woman people would actually go on their rooftops trying to see if
[38:47]they could identify the prophets in allahu allahu allah as he would
[38:49]pass by and then when they saw the beautiful face of the
[38:55]prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ani some historical accounts tell us everyone collectively
[39:01]recited these lines of poetry which you're all familiar with Lala Alberto
[39:05]Elena means Anna yada yada the moon has now become visible from
[39:12]Senna yada yada fannia ta da was a place in Medina which
[39:18]basically was the entrance point to Medina now the reason why it
[39:25]was called the Nietzel wada order and arabic means farewell when you
[39:28]would leave the city of medina you would take that route like
[39:31]the entrance egg exit point that's where you would farewell the traveler
[39:38]so that's why we have that naming for it zhenya Tejada so
[39:42]the profit entered from that entry point and so in their line
[39:49]of poetry they're saying the moon has now become apparent to us
[39:53]the moon has rising from any yacht Saluda because that's the place
[39:59]the profits are Allahu Allahu Allah entered from now in jahiliya by
[40:03]the way those some crazy Arabs they had this superstition that when
[40:09]you enter this entry point of Medina in order for you to
[40:14]be protected from like the Devils from omens and from a very
[40:20]bad type of fever which was known in Medina a very bad
[40:23]type of fever you had to stop at that entry point and
[40:28]then you had to make the voice of a donkey you know
[40:33]the voice of the donkey and Arabic we call it's nahi nahi
[40:35]al hi mom what do you call that in English doesn't have
[40:38]a name it doesn't have a name in any case that sound
[40:42]of you know that the donkey makes when it starts yelling so
[40:45]basically the Arabs believed that in order for you to protect it
[40:51]from this bad fever stop at this plate continuity Luda and start
[40:55]yelling like a donkey you'll be protected this was this was the
[40:58]life of an average Arab by the way crows donkeys what-have-you they
[41:02]had all these superstitions and myths and legends now at hamdullah now
[41:07]with the advent of Islam you know the Prophet gave them awareness
[41:10]and they abolished a lot of these superstitions so the Prophet enters
[41:16]from there and that's why they mentioned this in the blind of
[41:19]poetry so Paula Alberto Elena Anthony yachts and wadda wadda chakra Elena
[41:25]Mader Allah Heda therefore it is our duty to be thankful for
[41:30]this blessing to allah subhana wa ta'ala till the day when even
[41:35]one person on the face of the earth prays to allah as
[41:39]long as there's one person who worships God o Allah we thank
[41:42]you for sending us your messenger the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa on
[41:45]a your helmet auto FINA jet turbine a marine mobile or the
[41:51]one who has been sent to us you brought that command which
[41:54]we shall obey Jetta Sharaf tell Modena marhaban er farad are you
[42:01]have come and blessed the city of Medina so we welcome you
[42:04]all the one who is the best of all colors who call
[42:09]to the path of Allah Spano town a beautiful lines of poetry
[42:12]now when you find scholars examining these lines of poetry I've even
[42:19]examined like the work of some sunni scholars to say what they
[42:25]say about about this some of them find these accounts doubtful they're
[42:28]not sure if this happened and if these lines of poetry were
[42:32]said one reason why they doubt this is the following they're like
[42:38]Fanny at Aloha da that area in Medina according to their research
[42:45]as situated to the north of Medina the road that takes you
[42:49]north to sham to Syria on the Palestine region baba is situated
[42:56]to the south of Medina so if the Prophet is entering Medina
[42:58]from baba he would enter from which side obviously from the southern
[43:04]point that southern entry whereas taniad Sawada is on the northern side
[43:08]so this doesn't add up why are they saying in these lines
[43:14]of poetry that you the moon has rising from fannia to nada
[43:16]when the Prophet did not enter from the north he entered from
[43:21]the south therefore some scholars including a few Shia scholars they believe
[43:27]this incident happened nine years later after the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
[43:32]ala became victorious at the Battle of Tabuk and he entered Medina
[43:35]because Tabuk is towards the northern side of you know it's close
[43:39]to the riad region today it's northeast when you want to come
[43:45]to Medina you would come from the northern route on your way
[43:48]back from Tabuk it's at that time that when the Prophet was
[43:51]greeted with these lines not when he first entered Medina what's our
[43:57]take on that according to the research of many historians Medina had
[44:03]to Theni Aten wada and had the northern entry exit point and
[44:10]the southern one they were both called Sania - Luda because if
[44:14]your traveler was going north that's where you would farewell them if
[44:17]they were going south that's where you would farewell them so we
[44:24]had to so this is not a valid objection then the prophet
[44:27]entered from the southern point and that was called theny yet to
[44:32]Nord ah so that's why historically most of our scholars have accepted
[44:35]this report that when the Prophet entered the city of Medina he
[44:39]was greeted by these beautiful lines of poetry now interestingly you will
[44:45]find some people some so-called scholars in history using the incident of
[44:53]paula alberto elena they have made a claim that singing in Islam
[45:00]is what permissible why because you had woman also singing these lines
[45:05]Asha and one hadith she narrates that even the woman they started
[45:11]singing Tala Alberto Elena everybody was dancing and singing and the Prophet
[45:15]entered and he didn't rebuke them he didn't stop them and when
[45:18]the messenger of God sees something if it's an act of corruption
[45:21]if it's a sin you should have stopped them but he didn't
[45:23]therefore singing is halal in Islam some of them as you have
[45:30]used this argument even until today no he was not meant well
[45:34]their sources indicate that he had done the Akkad on her he
[45:40]had done the contract but the marriage was not consummated yet but
[45:44]even if he wasn't married to her she did come you know
[45:47]when when when abu bakr grated to medina she also migrated so
[45:52]she was present there and she's narrating to us that when the
[45:55]prophet entered medina this woman were singing these lines of poetry what's
[45:59]our response to them first of all Salaam alaikum there is no
[46:05]evidence that they were singing because see we have recitation and we
[46:16]have singing sometimes you could recite lines of poetry and other times
[46:22]you can actually sing them you know in an Islamic law singing
[46:26]is that voice which contains what is called terajima it's a specific
[46:31]way of modifying your voice to sing it right there for the
[46:38]accounts that we have do not say that they were actually singing
[46:41]these lines they were just reciting them collectively reciting them so there's
[46:45]no proof that they were actually singing the Heron type of singing
[46:49]they were just reciting those lines of poetry you know you've heard
[46:54]like you know reciters right when they do imaginisce or recite some
[46:59]lines they could sometimes we sat it with a beautiful voice -
[47:02]but that's not technically singing singing is defined in a very particular
[47:07]way you know the singers have their own way of singing and
[47:09]it's not proven that the way it was recited was actually singing
[47:19]that's number one any-any we'll get to that the deaf yes but
[47:23]let's now talk about the singing itself like the voice and the
[47:27]singing so there's no evidence for that number two it's not clear
[47:34]to us that the voice of the woman in particular was discernible
[47:38]such that it would be haram because imagine thousands of people in
[47:44]the streets men women kids everyone is collectively reciting something like have
[47:51]you you know heard people collectively like recite the national anthem you
[47:56]can't distinct their voices right you've got a lot of people making
[48:00]a statement reciting something so you can't actually identify the voice of
[48:06]a woman in all those gatherings in all those recitations therefore this
[48:10]is not evidence that women can sing in front of men like
[48:13]some have tried to use this as evidence see a woman can
[48:16]sing in front of men because they're singing in front of the
[48:19]prophet sallallaahu and he wanted and he never stopped them that's not
[48:23]a valid claim because when collectively people recite you and even discern
[48:26]the voices so it does not become to a point where it
[48:32]becomes Harlem yes a discernible voice a woman singing in front of
[48:36]men that's Hannah obviously number three maybe it's possible that at that
[48:42]point in time when the Prophet had first migrated singing was not
[48:48]declared Haram yet remember Islamic laws were revealed in graduation gradually they
[48:54]were revealed in fact her job one was her job revealed Mecca
[48:57]or Medina Medina when the prophets entered Medina on that day her
[49:03]job was not watching in the religion of Islam yes it was
[49:05]a good moral thing to do but it was not a watch
[49:10]of act later Allah reveals the verses about her job many many
[49:13]acts many obligations were revealed in Medina as society was now prepared
[49:18]and they were more mature Allah Spanish Allah sends them the lost
[49:24]so even if they say fine they were singing we have found
[49:27]evidence they were singing or like you mentioned they were beating the
[49:30]drums fine Allah Spanish Allah had not outlawed that yet in the
[49:36]religion of Islam later we have evidence that the Prophet outlawed singing
[49:40]and he made it clear that singing is haram so you can't
[49:46]use this incident and say singing is Haddad because the Prophet entered
[49:49]McKean Medina and people were singing and he didn't stop them maybe
[49:56]it was not harm yet yes that's the final point that I
[50:03]want to share with you finally beating the drum even according to
[50:10]Islamic law and the opinion of most scholars is not how I'm
[50:13]to begin with it's not considered a musical instrument it's not considered
[50:18]an instrument for singers in fact people when they wanted to get
[50:22]ready for battle they would beat the drums if there was a
[50:26]public announcement in the city they would beat the drums if someone
[50:29]important was entering the village they would beat the drums it was
[50:31]not an act that singers would solely do in their concerts or
[50:39]singing sessions therefore according to many scholars just beating the drum is
[50:43]not hot in fact today if you go to Nigel form Caramella
[50:46]during the are buying or other seasons you find the drum being
[50:51]being don't haven't you heard that if you participate in those processes
[50:56]right Dazza you will hit the you were you will hear the
[50:58]drums being being and there's a reason why they do that of
[51:03]course but that's not Hana so the fact that they had the
[51:06]drum or that type of death we actually have clues that the
[51:12]type of death they were using was the normal one that was
[51:15]used for all occasions it was not one that was specifically used
[51:21]by singers so what's hot to begin with why would the Prophet
[51:24]prohibit them they weren't doing anything Colin the last final points about
[51:29]this let's assume what they were doing was Hama let's just assume
[51:32]that when the Prophet is now entering the city of Medina and
[51:39]these people are out to receive him and they were ignorant they
[51:41]did not know any better they really wanted to show their love
[51:44]it wasn't appropriate for the Prophet to stop and rebuked them and
[51:50]hey this is Hara because Allah says to the Prophet order o
[51:52]Allah sabirah a big called to the path of Allah with what
[51:55]Ben Heck man with wisdom wisdom means that you find the appropriate
[52:04]time and place to explain Islamic laws when you're in the middle
[52:09]of this whole parade and people are here Mecca just kicked you
[52:12]out and they wanted to kill you Medina is receiving you and
[52:16]you want to stand there and rebuke them that's not appropriate even
[52:19]even if we say what they were doing was not appropriate fine
[52:24]that wasn't the time to tell them later on you get to
[52:28]know them you build them as JIT then you educate the people
[52:30]that's wisdom and acumen unlike some people unfortunately especially we see with
[52:38]those rigid schools of thought you know have you gone to the
[52:41]Hajj and you've seen how they deal with some of these pilgrims
[52:43]it's like Shimon on Yazeed are standing before you so rigid so
[52:48]rude so disrespectful the Prophet in his life was never he would
[52:54]not do something inappropriate something that would be rude never in his
[52:58]life did he do something like that so this is in no
[53:02]way evidence that singing is allowed and you know these musical instruments
[53:07]are allowed any questions on that yes so when we talk about
[53:18]the verse of drinking it was fully outlawed in Medina yes yeah
[53:24]some of them were drinking yes in fact there are historical accounts
[53:30]that for example American kebab before the verse of drinking was revealed
[53:37]konyaku ha Karen do you know what that means those who know
[53:45]Arabic translate that for me yeah Annie here would be binge drinking
[53:50]as they say today yes it gradually was outlawed because Allah want
[53:57]to see people were addicted so Allah wants to gradually ease the
[54:01]addiction before outlawing it so for instance Allah Spano to Allah in
[54:07]one verse states around the times of Salah don't drink logical Abu
[54:12]salata what until Saqqara make sure that you do not pray when
[54:15]you're drunk and you don't know what you're saying see that trained
[54:18]Muslims now to only drink in certain times not anytime that's one
[54:25]step to break the addiction then a last part of to Allah
[54:28]later completely outlawed it so the full band became in Medina you
[54:33]know the hadith says the day that verse was revealed the alleys
[54:40]of Medina were now like small streams where people in their homes
[54:45]had you know gathered all those I don't know containers of alcohol
[54:48]beer whatever it was and they just poured it out in the
[54:53]street yes yes there are historical accounts about that in any case
[55:07]the Prophet Sal Allahu Allahu Allah enters Medina now the ants are
[55:12]the people of Medina are begging the Prophet come to my house
[55:14]come to my house stay here stay here what did the prophet
[55:20]do the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa said let's follow the camel sunni
[55:24]and shi'a sources have documented this fan nahama amaura it's been given
[55:30]instruction wherever the camel settles also where does the camel go the
[55:34]camel goes according to some historical accounts to a spacious piece of
[55:40]land which belonged to two orphan boys by the name of San
[55:47]and Sohail who lived under the protection of assad ibanez Arara now
[55:53]that place was the closest the closest house to that place was
[55:58]the house of abu Ayub and i'm sorry some reports tell us
[56:05]he was the poorest man in medina but look at the system
[56:11]of allah he was the poorest man in medina but at last
[56:14]panettone wanted his greatest messenger to settle in his house so the
[56:19]camel goes in that land the closest house - it was a
[56:22]boy you but I'm sorry so that was an indication that Allah
[56:26]Spanish Anna wanted his prophet to settle in that house so the
[56:32]prophet sallallaahu alia goes and he is now the guest of Abu
[56:34]Abdullah Abu a ubin I'm sorry the poorest man in Medina just
[56:38]look at the work of Allah Spano tada alas telling people look
[56:43]I don't like at your wealth and your social status I chose
[56:47]the poorest man in Medina I gave him that honor because he
[56:52]was humble in his heart he was a good man so the
[56:54]Prophet stays in his house how long does he stay in his
[57:00]house we've got numerous reports one report says one year one report
[57:04]says seven months we have some reports that say one month in
[57:09]any case the profit when he enters Medina he now begins the
[57:15]construction of his mosque in Medina and also his house which was
