[0:30]other parts of the world there is a good chance that non-muslims

[0:34]will interact with people following Islam and hence here about the month

[0:39]of Ramadan this means they would have questions about the fasting practice

[0:43]and some may feel embarrassed to ask them here are 20 common

[0:50]questions non-muslims may ask about the month of Ramadan number one what

[0:55]is Ramadan Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar it's

[0:59]an entire month whereby Muslims around the world observe fasting they abstain

[1:05]from food drink sexual intimacy and a few other things all out

[1:09]of Devotion to their Creator God the almighty they follow the footsteps

[1:13]of prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him and his family

[1:19]who also observe the fasting in Ramadan two what is the purpose

[3:53]what do Muslims typically do during Ramadan it's a month of Devotion

[4:04]others as well as visiting relatives are all recommended it's also a

[4:09]chance for those observing it to break the usual cycle of everyday

[4:12]life and reflect about personal growth and attain spiritual strength number nine

[5:27]to break your fast with dates no but it was the practice

[5:38]Muslim can break their fast with any food that is permissible to

[5:43]be eaten 13 do Muslims lose weight in Ramadan well the objective

[5:46]of fasting is not for weight lost although that can sometimes happen

[5:50]more often though people do gain weight during this holy month because

[5:54]they overeat at night or in the morning just before the break

[5:58]of dawn number 14 what happens if if a Muslim breaks their

[6:00]fast during the day in Ramadan well if they do it unintentionally

[6:07]well they've just forgotten that they're fasting there is no problem and

[6:11]the fast is valid if they break it because of a genuine

[6:13]reason such as illness or travel that's fine too however if they

[6:19]break the fast intentionally with no valid reason there is a penalty

[6:22]to pay as well as the fact that they must make up

[6:26]the M days later after the month of Ramadan what is Eid

[6:29]and what happens on Eid well Eid is a day of celebration

[6:33]for Muslims that marks the end of the month of Ramadan it's

[6:36]called Muslims usually attend the mosque to perform prayers followed by giving

[6:40]charity known as Zak thereafter people gather with family exchanging gifts and

[6:46]presents and usually enjoy a meal together exact day of Eid depends

[6:50]on the sighting of the Moon 16 do Muslims only fast during

[6:53]Ramadan well in Islam the obligatory fast is only in the month

[6:58]of Ramadan but throughout the year Islamic teachings encourage Muslims to observe

[7:02]the fast on certain other days this is because of the benefits

[7:05]of fasting especially the merits attained from God the almighty for doing

[7:09]so an example is the first Monday and the last Thursday of

[7:15]every Islamic month is radan linked to any other religion in any

[7:19]way interestingly Islamic sources point to the third day of Ramadan being

[7:23]the date of the revelation of the Bible to Jesus peace be

[8:14]warm milk or soup dates followed by fruits and have a proper

[8:17]meal a few hours later but sweets are usually emphasized in this

[8:24]month with a variety of sweet Delicacies produced by many communities in

[8:33]the afternoon when they're fasting if by not drinking water or eating

[8:37]the Muslim will be harmed then they can break their fast to

[8:43]the extent to avoid harm then remain fasting and make up the

[8:46]day after the month of Ramadan
