[1:09]www.imangosancharity.com [Music] hey [Music] [Music] [Music] december 25th is known as christmas
[4:04]day and is normally associated with the birth of jesus son of
[4:09]mary for all of us who've lived in the western world christmas
[4:13]day has always been a day of importance and the period of
[4:17]christmas generally without a doubt is one of the most joyous periods
[4:20]you could ever go through whether you're a muslim or indeed a
[4:24]non-muslim or indeed a non-christian even of other religions you find that
[4:32]without a doubt it's a season of festivity the fears season without
[4:35]a doubt where there is much happiness a season without a doubt
[4:40]in which you experience a lot of warmth from those people around
[4:45]you and therefore you find for us muslims who had to move
[4:48]to the western world for different reasons either because of our studies
[4:55]or because of immigration and being refugees when we came to christian
[5:01]majority countries we found that that particular christmas spirit was something which
[5:06]we without a doubt at times would be part of you would
[5:09]recognize that those around you would in many cases be in the
[5:14]best of moods and many of them would either recognize jesus as
[5:18]being the savior or recognize that this was the period which for
[5:22]many years had been associated with his birth of course for us
[5:27]as muslims we recognize his birth as being of the utmost importance
[5:29]when we see in the quran as we stated last night not
[5:47]only do we look at the date of his birth in the
[5:50]sense of how glorious an occasion it was for the whole of
[5:56]mankind and a mercy from god for the whole of mankind and
[5:58]that no muslim can achieve salvation without believing in the greatness of
[6:06]israel same time people begin to ask the question how much can
[6:11]we actually celebrate the 25th of december islamically do we believe that
[6:18]nabi is born on the 25th of december if not then how
[6:21]can i celebrate his birth on the 25th of december islamically if
[6:26]there is another group of people who celebrate his birth can i
[6:30]go up to them and say to them for example merry christmas
[6:33]can i go and celebrate with them and these celebrations of course
[6:37]differ between neighbor to neighbor there are some neighbors who we may
[6:44]see have christmas trees and now we see muslims with christmas trees
[6:47]there are some neighbors who have a meal where they may all
[6:54]for example cook a turkey let's say on christmas day and you
[6:57]see now muslims for example cooking turkeys on christmas day there are
[7:03]some neighbors who may have a party where they bring their whole
[7:06]family together and there are muslims who have parties where they bring
[7:10]their families together there are some neighbors in the christian community who
[7:15]may bring gifts for one another when it comes to christmas and
[7:19]there are muslims now who open box gifts on christmas day we
[7:24]are all of course for the interaction between ourselves and people of
[7:30]other religions at the end of the day recently we saw the
[7:33]pope visiting grand day to allah in najef and that visitation highlighted
[7:40]the importance of dialogue between one another importance of brotherhood between one
[7:48]another importance of showing respect and fraternity with one another but how
[7:53]far can one go in honoring the birth of jesus son of
[7:59]mary if now i see every second muslim household with a christmas
[8:03]tree at home and the children are now expecting that period to
[8:07]have a christmas tree and the children are now expecting that on
[8:10]that day gifts are to be given is this something islamically allowed
[8:17]or not yes the religion of islam recommends that a person honors
[8:23]abraham and noah and moses and jesus and rasulallah the holy prophet
[8:28]muhammad peace be upon his family but to what extent as in
[8:32]how far can i go because you will find that certain people
[8:35]have taken the culture in completely now that's one level another level
[8:39]is that people may be invited to christmas dues or christmas parties
[8:43]work parties now someone will say but listen you muslims love jesus
[8:48]this party is in honor of jesus it's christmas time it's festivity
[8:53]time it's when everyone comes together and now i face the situation
[8:58]as a muslim or as a muslim where i see that alcohol
[9:02]is being served music is being played as you know christmas is
[9:06]well known for the music that's played in that period you ask
[9:11]mrs michael and carey and others and they'll tell you just how
[9:14]fruitful christmas was for them in terms of their songs that came
[9:19]out in the christmas period and these songs are everywhere and these
[9:23]songs are part of the party so if i'm invited for a
[9:26]christmas party at my school at my college at my uni at
[9:31]my work but this party honors so what could be wrong with
[9:40]it the dilemma therefore that a muslim faces is on the one
[9:44]hand the quran talks about the importance of all of us getting
[9:47]to know each other different races and different tribes there are tribes
[10:06]and races in this country christians from africa christians from europe christians
[10:12]from south america christians from the middle east remember christmas is not
[10:17]just here i could go now to iraq and there is a
[10:18]very healthy christmas atmosphere or community that goes back many years one
[10:25]goes to the karate district for example in baghdad or goes to
[10:31]the area when they go to for example masjid borata and see
[10:33]there's a history there measured for example in kufa has a christian
[10:37]history so when i look at all of this i see there's
[10:40]a christian community in iraq in senegal in nigeria i see a
[10:48]christian community in south america and australia i ask myself therefore the
[10:52]question that the quran said to me you should get to know
[10:53]one another but to what extent do i get to know one
[10:58]another is there a line that i have to draw and by
[10:59]the way this could extend to other areas there are now muslims
[11:04]who for example celebrate halloween this celebration of halloween is completely forbidden
[11:09]there is no such thing as a muslim celebrating halloween but someone
[11:12]says but you know what islam says get to know one another
[11:16]i don't need to get to know one another by looking at
[11:18]a pumpkin's face or i don't need to get to know one
[11:20]another by watching scary films or having depictions of people wearing certain
[11:25]things but can the muslim household stop such a thing can the
[11:30]muslim household bring up their children against the wave that they face
[11:35]of peer pressure when it comes to these areas therefore this question
[11:41]may relate to christmas but can also relate to diwali can relate
[11:45]to hanukkah can relate to other periods where other religions are fest
[11:51]in festive moods or celebrations let us tonight examine that should the
[11:58]day that jesus be born be a celebration irrespective of whichever religion
[12:04]decides to celebrate it and i'd like to do this in the
[12:07]following stages number one in which year was jesus born and is
[12:13]there a difference of opinion number two in which month is he
[12:18]believed to be born and if it's december the 25th is this
[12:22]something biblical or is this something that the romans instituted at a
[12:27]certain time number three when imam assad was told that the christians
[12:36]celebrate the birth of jesus on december the 25th why did he
[12:39]say that this is a lie and which date did imam assad
[12:42]salaam say that jesus was born and how does that date relate
[12:49]to the story of the quran when it comes to the palm
[12:53]tree and when it comes to the story of the bible when
[12:57]it comes to looking after the flocks of sheep number four what
[13:01]if my friends are all doing christmas party or at work there's
[13:04]a massive party which will get me a promotion and remember it's
[13:09]honoring jesus so is there an issue fair go or isn't there
[13:11]and which youth in the quran did allah praise as a group
[13:17]of christians who held on to their beliefs although all around them
[13:21]had left them number five can i for example go around and
[13:25]say merry christmas to somebody said my greetings to them can i
[13:31]keep a christmas tree in my house are these parts of the
[13:37]teachings of the religion of islam further than that is every muslim
[13:42]to be categorized with the same ruling when it comes to christmas
[13:45]or do converts have it a bit different and how one must
[13:51]we recognize to empathize with members of the convert community when it
[13:55]comes to christmas in contrast to those who are born muslim what
[13:59]type of christians in our history supported imam al-hussein especially on the
[14:06]plains of karbala let's examine this and dissect the topic in complete
[14:10]depth if you ask any christian in the world today when what
[14:13]year was jesus born you'll see that there's a difference of opinion
[14:18]when it comes to the year that he was born normally you'll
[14:23]hear people saying somewhere between 4 and 6 bc yes because normally
[14:29]you'll see bc or you'll see a d when it comes to
[14:31]our understanding of history some will say that bc is before christ
[14:38]although you will still see that his date of birth is 4
[14:41]bc or 6 bc and then you'll see for example after the
[14:45]death of christ and how history develops from there but in the
[14:50]christian community the year of his birth is differ there is difference
[14:54]of opinion some say three to five some say four to six
[14:58]bc okay so you have that opinion that comes forward that not
[15:03]everyone can agree on the year of his birth can everyone however
[15:07]agree on the date of his birth in the sense of the
[15:12]month that he was born on no someone says no no it's
[15:16]25th of december at school we have christmas holidays and the christmas
[15:20]holidays are there to honor the birth of jesus i'm like maybe
[15:26]symbolically they're there to honor the birth of jesus but for the
[15:30]first few hundred years after jesus left this world none in the
[15:36]christian community celebrated the 25th of december as the birth of jesus
[15:41]if you look in the bible someone might think that in the
[15:46]bible it's written 25th of december is when jesus salam was born
[15:50]some might think that but the reality is that in the bible
[15:54]i might say that see for example in the book of luke
[15:56]that it might say someone from the town of david is born
[16:01]who's a savior that's true but it doesn't say 25th of december
[16:04]i look at the gospels and i'm trying to understand that in
[16:10]the gospels does it say 25th of december christmas day is the
[16:14]birth of jesus no where then do i find this remember the
[16:17]early christian communities never believed in the 25th of december as the
[16:23]birth of jesus i might even go back and say that some
[16:26]of them believe the 25th of march rather than the 25th of
[16:32]december it was a few hundred years after jesus left the world
[16:35]that the romans decided that the 25th of december will be the
[16:41]day of the celebration of the birth of jesus under the rulership
[16:47]of constantine because up until that period in western europe people when
[16:52]it came to the 25th of december they had celebrations but they
[16:55]were pagan celebrations pagan celebrations for example the germans used to sacrifice
[17:02]to odin you have the north who used to get these giant
[17:04]eulogs and burn them for 12 nights until that log would completely
[17:12]burn out the italians where there was a christian community the italians
[17:17]used to make sacrifices to saturn you know the planet saturn the
[17:21]italians used to make sacrifice at that time there were a number
[17:26]of people who believed in these pagan rituals they'd get together when
[17:32]they'd get together on the 25th of december nobody in the christian
[17:36]community had come forward and said 25th of december is the day
[17:39]that jesus was born rather what then happened is people were looking
[17:44]at these pagan practices that were taking place when they were looking
[17:49]at them they said hold on these pagan practices have overwhelmed or
[17:53]overcome the whole of western europe let us instead of burning the
[18:01]eulogs or instead of sacrifices to odin or instead of giving gifts
[18:05]in the name of saturn why don't we for example come and
[18:11]give the sacrifice to her to recognizing the birth of the savior
[18:16]of mankind the son of god jesus son of mary so what
[18:21]then happened was that the romans decided to institute under constantine that's
[18:28]the 25th of december instead of sacrificing for the pagan gods or
[18:33]the pagan planets rather come and make your remembrance the remembrance of
[18:40]jesus son of mary therefore many who came forward today they thought
[18:44]that the 25th of december was always believed in by the christians
[18:48]that this is the birth of nabi is the early christian community
[18:54]there were some who completely rejected such pagan ideas when they saw
[18:59]the pagans going towards 25th december from then on everybody decided that
[19:03]the 25th of december should be what should be the day that
[19:09]we remember jesus son of mary do we as muslims believe that
[19:13]jesus son of mary was born in the 27th bible if the
[19:18]christians don't believe it themselves originally then how's it going to come
[19:21]to us for us to believe it there are certain things that
[19:23]the christians believe that we for example completely reject but there are
[19:29]certain things the christians reject we're not going to end up believing
[19:32]in the sins you find here that when it comes to the
[19:35]muslims if you now were to be asked by someone where was
[19:39]nabi issa born what would your answer be and if you were
[19:44]to be asked where was nabi isaborn you were to be asked
[19:48]where was nabi sabon you opened the books and then someone asked
[19:52]you when was he born naby isa i know that rasulullah there
[19:56]is a difference in the literature some say he's born on the
[20:01]12th of rabbi and others say he's born on the 17th of
[20:03]rabbi he was born there's a difference how about the date which
[20:11]month do the muslims know which month he was born remember the
[20:15]christians themselves have given over 150 different possibilities as to where and
[20:22]when because there are some who came and said even where he's
[20:26]born where are we looking at nazareth bethlehem bethlehem judea bethlehem galilee
[20:31]even amongst the muslims when you come to ask the question where
[20:36]was nabi isaborn some people must mention for example that his mother
[20:41]had taken him to masjid borata masjid morata in the area towards
[20:48]baghdad that was originally a church until imam amir meaning upon going
[20:56]past it he then asked for the monk who was there who
[20:58]witnessed the miracle many of you have heard when imam ali put
[21:02]his feet down and the sprung of the spring gushed forth and
[21:04]that monk knew that only a prophet or a successor of a
[21:10]prophet stands here and recognizes this place and its importance and then
[21:18]from 37th after hijra that masjid borata became a center of importance
[21:22]from the muslim community where the imams mentioned that maryam came with
[21:26]isla islam to this area but we have a problem and another
[21:33]hadith of the imams they mention that say that washed with that
[21:38]water near the grave of imam hussain and that's where islam was
[21:42]born so now we have measured we have carabella we also have
[21:47]in our traditions where people expect bethlehem yes bethlehem so in our
[21:52]traditions there is an uncertainty i don't know about the presence of
[21:56]palm trees in that area in contrast to iraq you're always going
[22:01]to find palm trees everywhere in era but there's a difference of
[22:04]opinion here but i don't have much of an issue when it
[22:06]comes to his birth question when was he born people asked this
[22:14]question and you find that one opinion is an opinion that was
[22:17]given by who hassen the son of ali washer when they were
[22:23]with imam he says on the night of the 25th of the
[22:25]qaddaf we were with imam al-islam he said this was the night
[22:30]in which nabi isa was born and the night in which david
[22:35]ibrahim was born on another occasion there is a narration when imam
[22:41]is told by a group of people that the christians say jesus
[22:48]was born on december the 25th let's say is living about 600
[22:54]odd years seven hundred odd years after nabi is salam so he's
[22:57]aware that there's a christian community now who celebrate the 25th of
[23:01]december he said they utter a lie was born in the middle
[23:10]of june now this is interesting the longest day of the year
[23:15]if i'm not mistaken is around that time yes around the middle
[23:18]of june if not around maybe i don't know june the 20th
[23:22]or something and you find therefore that imam assad something very interesting
[23:26]there was an australian astronomer i think his name was dave reckey
[23:32]he looked at astronomical calculations dating back to when christ was born
[23:40]and he mentioned how the two planets jupiter and venus were so
[23:45]close to each other and something so rare that there was an
[23:50]unbelievable amount of light that shone in the area where he was
[23:54]born the longest day of the year the unbelievable amount of light
[23:58]yes and the fact that you're not exactly going to be taking
[24:03]sheep out in christmas time yes uh shepherd and the it's not
[24:07]going to take his sheep out in the night of the cold
[24:11]of christmas although some will mention that some sheep in palestine for
[24:16]example were of a type of breed that could come out but
[24:18]palm tree as well mariam dates you're looking more summer than you're
[24:22]looking at winter and so even when the bible says the heavenly
[24:28]star shunned forth and there was a brightness we don't deny it
[24:30]because if this astronomer was even saying at that time these two
[24:36]planets were so close to one another and we believe that in
[24:41]the work travel mentions that the light had shunned forth when in
[24:49]the middle of june so you see that christians some believe that
[24:51]isa al-islam was born in the spring some believe march 25th some
[24:57]believe that in the summer some came forward today and say christmas
[25:00]day but many pastors of the christian world if you were to
[25:04]go up to them now and say to them jesus was born
[25:08]december 25th they'll say to you no many of them very rare
[25:13]that you'll find a single priest or pastor bishop cardinal even pope
[25:18]benedict will not come forward and say december 20th but they'll say
[25:21]that this is a period when we celebrate the birth of the
[25:27]son of god problem problem what's the problem the problem is that
[25:33]the quran says the quran says that those who say god is
[25:45]the messiah or the quran says those who say that god took
[25:48]for himself a son they are disbelievers now when i come to
[25:53]christmas and i meet somebody who's a devout christian they'll say this
[25:57]is the birth of the son of god or god in the
[26:02]human flesh automatically becomes an issue for me automatically why because i
[26:08]am now if i am now in a world of promoting the
[26:11]belief of jesus is god in the human or jesus is god
[26:18]or the son of god i'm promoting kofor i'm promoting disbelief how
[26:26]can i celebrate in my household that which of the quran is
[26:32]saying those who say that he is what the third of the
[26:35]three those who believe that he is the son those that he
[26:39]believe is god i know christmas that surround me the devout ones
[26:41]believe this is the birth of the son of god so automatically
[26:45]for me as a muslim says now come on bro like it's
[26:50]a period of fun listen don't get me wrong i love christmas
[26:54]don't get me wrong in the face of an atheist push i
[26:59]want to push the belief in jesus son of mary because we
[27:03]live in an atheist world which wants to deny all these things
[27:07]or wants to deny even a presence of a god so i
[27:11]want to push the idea of honoring allah's prophets but at the
[27:14]same time i'm not going to let people's peer pressure dictate me
[27:18]in having to promote that which brings about a contradiction with the
[27:24]quran let me give you an example in the quran of a
[27:27]group of christians who the people of their time had left the
[27:31]message of jesus they decided to remain on his path who have
[27:36]the companions of the cave you've read the story of us the
[27:40]ones who slept for 300 years some call them the seven companions
[27:49]of ephesus yes towards the izmir area of turkey you found that
[27:53]they were devout how many of them baba seven eight of them
[27:55]subhanallah seven eight of them then they had a shepherd and his
[28:00]dog with them you know what these people were they were young
[28:03]rich devout christians in the original meaning of christianity young and rich
[28:13]they could have had anything in this world and their people were
[28:18]on a deviant belief at that time they were some of the
[28:20]few who remain on the idea that there is one god jesus
[28:23]is a prophet of god these people were forced into trying to
[28:27]follow what everybody else followed forced and to follow the status quo
[28:35]did they give in they did not give in even when the
[28:37]king was told that listen you know these lord they come from
[28:41]very well-known families and believe me that's the only reason he gave
[28:43]them a chance that they come from very well known families but
[28:47]they don't want to worship that which we worship they don't want
[28:52]to follow that which we follow they don't want to celebrate that
[28:56]which we celebrate ibrahim by the way ibrahim was known because of
[29:01]the fact that he swam against the tide of his time he
[29:04]was known as a hanif the whole tide of your time we
[29:09]have to get christmas tree you know they got a christmas tree
[29:11]we have to bring presents they got presents we have to celebrate
[29:14]they celebrate because what is all of this while there are muslims
[29:18]now on facebook who dress up wearing the christmas uniform there are
[29:22]muslims who sit next to a tree which tree has nothing to
[29:27]do with christianity at most martin luther and the protestant church may
[29:32]be credited with the rise of the trees they now come and
[29:37]the children are taught about santa claus i asked who santa claus
[29:39]i say that santa claus may have been for example a greek
[29:44]bishop from a certain period and the man may have done good
[29:47]by the way because in one story he helped three girls who
[29:50]could have easily sold their bodies he looked after them they were
[29:53]poor and he's the man who went he went to give gifts
[29:57]to those who were poor i like the story but remember the
[30:01]origin of all of this is that jesus the son of god
[30:07]was born while that is the origin then can i do this
[30:12]no i follow us the companions of the cave they looked at
[30:15]each other one night what did they say when they looked at
[30:18]each other one night they said that do we continue in this
[30:23]way we're going to get killed otherwise if we hold on to
[30:25]our beliefs while everybody around us is promoting that jesus is the
[30:30]son the trinity jesus is god in the human flesh so they
[30:35]decided that night as the quran mentions that they were a group
[30:44]of youths who believed in their lord some people believe that they
[30:47]were literally young some said that they would be elder but because
[30:50]they had iman allah gave them that power of the youth they
[30:54]believed in their lord they left their town people went search party
[30:57]after search party looking for them because they knew that these people
[31:03]had differed with the rest of the town it wasn't easy if
[31:05]everybody else is going to a christmas party and i'm not everybody
[31:08]else is going to prom and i'm not everybody else is celebrating
[31:15]halloween and i'm not but where's the muslim identity here someone might
[31:18]say say no so you're saying that we can't be happy no
[31:21]be happy every day baba accept ashora except be happy smile you
[31:28]see somebody in christmas time give them festive greetings tell them celebrate
[31:33]tell them that this is a great and joyous time for the
[31:39]whole community don't look down at anyone don't be arrogant towards anyone
[31:43]at the end of the day these this is a time where
[31:48]we are part of one community but at the same time try
[31:50]and do things different for example if i'm gonna give as christmas
[31:56]card let's say to somebody why not put the eyes as of
[31:59]saurath maryam in that card yes the eyes of maryam put the
[32:05]ayah in the card and one of the verses yes or the
[32:11]eyes of surat al-imran is you as a muslim have to go
[32:31]towards that direction of course our maraja were asked that can i
[32:35]be happy in this time yes can i give greetings to my
[32:39]christian neighbors yes however when they were asked how about attending celebrations
[32:44]they said if these celebrations a include acts of facade i have
[32:52]been invited to a party by that party there's alcohol all over
[32:56]the place i've been invited to a party there's a music and
[32:59]a rave and everything going on but this is high school or
[33:04]it's college or it's uni facade means i cannot take part even
[33:07]if it is bringing together people secondly they said celebrate okay i
[33:13]live in baghdad i have christians i am muslims i live in
[33:16]lebanon i have christians i am muslims but if your celebration involves
[33:21]the promotion of the idea that jesus is the son of god
[33:24]then it's haram completely forbidden someone says how about us at home
[33:31]we get together we make a turkey for example there's no problem
[33:34]there what do you make turkey turmeric lettuce whatever you want to
[33:38]make is no issue you want to sit there at home you
[33:40]want to bring the food together you bring the family together there's
[33:45]no issue there whatsoever but these things christmas trees and these have
[33:49]got nothing to do with islam nothing and don't bring these things
[33:54]towards your houses keep them far away well every time i get
[33:57]lectured on climate change climate environment how we should look after the
[34:02]environment well preserve the trees for these things instead of going around
[34:07]and keeping that tree or putting trees so high instead a person
[34:10]can come and give that and how much are you spending on
[34:14]these things okay you want to talk to us about spending and
[34:17]people say you should not spend so much on islam and tap
[34:21]the ear wallah what you pay for these trees there are orphans
[34:24]in the world someone says no no but i give the orphans
[34:27]get more orphans then why are we inculcating this culture into our
[34:33]houses rather on the country i look at another religion and i'm
[34:37]happy for them when they're happy but there's a difference between the
[34:40]world view of bashari and insanity and the world view of adidas
[34:45]let me give you an example couple of christmas ago it was
[34:50]christmas day and it was also shahada would you believe there were
[34:58]muslims on christmas day celebrating from the lovers of a late time
[35:04]talking celebrating the birth of jesus supposedly or with their families and
[35:09]not one of them knew that this was the period of fatah
[35:13]yeah yes now you tell me you'll show that love in your
[35:19]houses for the birth of jesus do you do the same for
[35:21]the birth of imam al-jawad salam let's not talk about imam amir
[35:25]or imam al-hussein do you sit with your children and put presents
[35:32]everywhere when we were younger we'd always get idea don't we idea
[35:37]give an idea even to allah even if it's something minor or
[35:40]gather your children and bring them together it is a shame when
[35:47]our children know more about christmas day or look forward more to
[35:50]christmas day than they do to the wild of the imams of
[35:54]allah however sometimes the problem is our mosques our mosques as well
[35:59]can be some of the most boring places on earth where a
[36:01]wilder sounds like a funeral sometimes yep so when you come and
[36:06]see that on christmas day there are muslims who gather and they
[36:10]want to celebrate but when it comes to an imam's willard they
[36:12]go to sleep at nine o'clock as if there's no birth of
[36:16]a savior like imam al-jawad alhadi who are all saviors in their
[36:22]own right so when we now come to these things it is
[36:25]high time that as muslims a person looks at basharian verses [Applause]
[36:38]allah the conditions is that we do not do what we do
[36:46]not put partners to allah i will engage in dialogue but in
[36:56]a common denominator where we don't put partners to god or make
[37:01]gods besides god on that i will there is a caveat here
[37:04]in this discussion or a disclaimer i'd like to make i think
[37:08]that it is different when it comes to those who are converts
[37:12]i must make this clear you may marry a christian girl who
[37:15]became a muslim yes some muslims may even be married to christian
[37:21]girls because we know that some ulama allow marriage to the people
[37:24]of the book only temporarily others allow even with permanent now you
[37:28]may be married to christian convert and someone says you cannot go
[37:33]and celebrate christmas now you almost no her parents are christian they've
[37:36]seen their daughter leave christianity there's no harm her going to her
[37:40]family's house and celebrating with them and even if her family have
[37:44]trees and there's presents let her give presents let why because their
[37:47]world is different to us they've sacrificed what they were born on
[37:51]in terms of blood to come towards the religion of islam on
[37:55]top of that you want to say to them don't go and
[37:57]celebrate christmas with your family members your family already know you don't
[38:00]believe jesus son of god you don't need to make it bigger
[38:04]issue they know that when you became a muslim you rejected the
[38:07]idea that he's the son and you went towards the idea that
[38:12]he's what that he is the prophet of god so now for
[38:14]this and i stress on this even when it comes to others
[38:18]that sometimes when the convert has to return to their families don't
[38:23]be strict with them and even with your families you don't need
[38:25]to be strict they already know that you've converted and in some
[38:30]cases that's hard because imagine you're a muslim your child converts to
[38:34]another religion how hard would it be for you it's not easy
[38:36]but islam dictates that the solid deen cannot be forced on anyone
[38:40]like deen there is no compulsion in religion the also cannot be
[38:45]forced if a person rejects the religion they reject the religion but
[38:48]when you have a convert in your midst do not make things
[38:53]harder for them when it comes to their family members try and
[38:56]have that leniency because sometimes in our history it was a christian
[39:01]convert who saved this religion or served it what do we mean
[39:06]in the time of rasulullah originally was what i always believe salman
[39:16]had always been a believer of one pure god but he went
[39:18]and studied with the zeratrians he went to judaism christianity he read
[39:24]all the books until he eventually came towards the religion of islam
[39:28]then you also have further than that you have in the time
[39:34]of imam al-hussein you come towards an understanding that even in his
[39:38]army there may have been those who originally were from a christian
[39:42]background some who originally may not have been from a shiite background
[39:46]may have been from a non-shiite background some who may have differed
[39:51]with imam al-hussein politically but subhanallah abdullah's one universal message is that
[39:56]which brought the community together and what was that universal message of
[40:01]imam al-hussein the prophet's message and that is enjoin the good forbid
[40:06]the evil the message of establishing justice the message of spreading wisdom
[40:11]who got affected by this yes they say according to some scholars
[40:20]that wahhab al-khelmi his mother and his wife attended karbala where were
[40:23]they from originally they were originally from a christian background was not
[40:29]exactly someone who was a muslim in his origin but the beauty
[40:35]of christianity and islam and sometimes one of the things which we
[40:37]can do more in christmas is that we can come together in
[40:43]dialogue and visit each other there is no harm us if we
[40:46]are invited by our local christian church we can go and send
[40:52]our celebrations or send our congratulations to them on this wonderful period
[40:58]there's no harm as long as it doesn't lead to further promotion
[41:01]of assad and so imam al-hussein he welcomed everyone to join him
[41:08]like his grandson imam sahib al-hassler will welcome all to join him
[41:13]when he returns imam al-hussein welcome to ahab the scholars give different
[41:18]opinions about the interaction between this christian convert animal hussein and of
[41:27]these interactions was that imam al-hussein had made it clear that look
[41:30]they want to kill me they don't want to kill you if
[41:33]you want you go back towards your home but his mother this
[41:37]lady of a christian background she highlighted that on the country abba
[41:42]abdullah deserves everything that we have and that i know where my
[41:49]son had just got married she says according to some had been
[41:54]married for a couple of weeks imagine his wife who some mentions
[41:59]as ahmad others give a different opinion in terms of whether it's
[42:02]the mom's name but they mentioned that his wife had looked towards
[42:05]him and said but we've just got married and now you want
[42:08]to go on to the plains of caraballa and you want to
[42:13]go towards the battlefield alongside who alongside imam al-hussein his wife was
[42:20]heartbroken yes his mom was heartbroken but his mom had wanted that
[42:25]hussein's mom on the day of judgment stands up for her and
[42:31]that she wanted to look proud towards imam al-hussein remember hussain had
[42:37]an influence on the monks and priests and they would adore him
[42:40]and churches if they saw his head would love him if they
[42:42]saw his head alone they loved him imagine if they saw his
[42:47]head in peace imagine if they were able to talk to him
[42:49]and she looked towards her son and her son looked towards her
[42:53]and she said to him make me proud my dear boy and
[42:57]he said to her mother i want to go out towards that
[43:01]battlefield but my wife is heartbroken we've only recently got married and
[43:06]now not only am i going on the battlefield but also she
[43:11]faces the difficulty of being a widow after me she said go
[43:15]and speak to her when he went to speak to her he
[43:20]looked towards her all of you know this narration my dear brothers
[43:23]and sisters this is a narration that breaks our hearts every year
[43:28]every year when we remember this narration how many of us are
[43:34]touched by wahabil kelby how many of us are touched by the
[43:37]companions of imam al-hussein one by one he went towards his wife
[43:45]he said to her now i'm heading out where am i heading
[43:50]towards the plains and the battlefield of karabella he went towards his
[43:56]wife and he said to her that i'm heading out towards the
[43:59]battlefield as he came out towards the army of omar his mother
[44:08]looked towards him with a smile and his wife his wife was
[44:13]heartbroken when he went out his wife said to him come back
[44:21]to me my husband come back to me he went out a
[44:29]second time again as she called out jim webb come back to
[44:33]me come back to me my darling the third time when he
[44:42]turned around his wife looked towards him she said to him go
[44:45]ahead go ahead and fight with the beautiful ones of muhammad he
[44:52]wondered why she said no why this time she's changed her mind
[44:56]what is it that made this lady change her mind he said
[45:01]you told me at the beginning not to go what is it
[45:07]that's changed your mind listen to the reply both of her things
[45:12]that change her mind break our hearts every year the first of
[45:14]them she sent the first of them i looked towards the children
[45:24]of abba abu dilla and i heard them call out allah i
[45:29]heard the children how can i how can i stop you and
[45:40]i see those kids crying from their face that was the first
[45:47]reason well what's the second there must be something else that's broken
[45:50]her in this way she said i turned around and i saw
[45:55]about standing by the tent when he stands there alone with none
[46:17]of to support him ya allah raised us with muhammad al muhammad
