[0:00]and it gave me such a sense of well-being and a sense

[0:04]of purpose in life and um and I I have to say

[0:08]it's just it's just been an amazing journey since I've turned to

[0:12]Islam.

[0:12]So I I was I I entered Muslim very innocently and I

[0:15]hope I'm still kept a part of that innocence because I want

[0:19]that innocence.

[0:19]I don't want to be I'm Shia there Sunni or or whatever.

[0:24]I want to be one community.

[0:27]But of course there are differences in and um it was only

[0:32]when I I think I I had my first Ramadan and I

[0:37]was on my own.

[0:38]I was in Dubai and I took my children away on on

[0:41]holiday.

[0:42]So it's my first time this is this was about 3 years

[0:45]ago and um I was I was in I was in Dubai

[0:49]on my own.

[0:50]I was the first time I was without my wife praying.

[0:54]Um, and people would look at me when I was praying and

[0:58]I was like I thought cuz like am I a white man

[1:01]in this cuz everyone else is, you know, a different color to

[1:05]me.

[1:06]But it was because I was a Shia, not a Sunni.

[1:11]And um, so okay, fine.

[1:13]And um, and then that's when I started noticing the Shia Islam.

[1:18]And it's and then I started there is unfortunately different people's perception

[1:24]of Islam is um different from my perception of Islam.

[1:29]And there was a there was a program a couple of years

[1:35]ago called My Brother the Fundamentalist.

[1:38]And he had this an English man who converted to Islam.

[1:42]when he converted to Wahhabi Islam and he grew his beard and

[1:47]and what have you changed his name and his brother was filming

[1:51]him.

[1:51]So his brother held out his hand to shake his hand and

[1:56]and his he the the Islamic brother wouldn't refuse to touch him

[2:01]because he was not a Muslim and I couldn't understand.

[2:05]said, "Well, no, that's not Islam.

[2:07]You know, this this he's your brother.

[2:09]You know, you don't not, you know, you not shake hands with

[2:13]your brother cuz he's not a Muslim.

[2:15]He's your brother." And I thought, "What what what is this they're

[2:19]teaching them?

[2:20]What is this this interpretation of Islam that I don't see?

[2:25]What is this?" You know, and I was really really confused about

[2:30]it.

[2:30]And um I was going definitely this is not what what Shia

[2:34]Islam was.

[2:34]And that's when I started saying actually you know I not I

[2:39]don't want to say I you know there's perfectly as good as

[2:44]many Sunni Muslims as there are Shia Muslims and just as bad

[2:48]just as many bad Shia Islams there is bad you know Sunni

[2:52]Islam.

[2:53]So I don't want to make a difference between the two faves,

[2:57]but I I I always felt
