[0:00]I want to be a Muslim.

[0:01]He was like, "Okay, but you got to learn how to pray.

[0:03]So, I'm going to teach you how to pray." He taught me

[0:06]fatiha.

[0:07]And by that time, I got shipped off to my prison that

[0:10]I was supposed to go to.

[0:12]So, back to the guy that I met, my my uh friend,

[0:16]the one guy that was from my hometown.

[0:18]He was teaching me how to be a Muslim.

[0:19]And I told him, "Oh, I know Fatiha already." And he said,

[0:22]"Okay, good." So, he told his family cuz they were the closest

[0:25]ones in relation to the prophet after his uh martyrdom.

[0:28]So he gave me some books to read.

[0:31]I said, "Okay, I I want to be Shia." After he explained

[0:33]everything to me, I said, "This makes sense.

[0:35]I'm going to be Shia and I don't really care about what

[0:38]the other people say because I have to go with what makes

[0:41]sense to me." So he gave me books like then I was

[0:44]guided and a few other uh books and we could send more

[0:48]than just your friends in South Carolina.

[0:50]Maybe we can send it to other prisoners in other states, but

[0:53]we got to come up with something to reach out, you know,

[0:55]and do it.

[0:56]And uh that's when we started sitting down brainstorming uh how can

[1:00]we do this you know come up with this thing and basically

[1:04]that's how we founded uh Yasine publications and we founded a second

[1:09]chance book program out of this to send books to prisoners.

[1:12]He was telling me that, you know, we need to get the

[1:16]books into the prison because right now they can block the books

[1:20]from different ways, right?

[1:21]Different chaplain and stuff like that bring books into the prisons and

[1:26]sometimes when there are people who are against the Shia and they

[1:30]will stop the books from coming in.

[1:33]So he devised a very great way through the the online way

[1:36]of shipping the books into the prisons where it would come to

[1:40]the actual prisoner as mail and not as like something that had

[1:44]to be given to them by a chaplain or be given to

[1:48]them in their ma in their in their places of study in

[1:52]the jails.

[1:52]So I was like well that's genius you know that's great.

[1:55]We started to let people know that they could write our organization

[1:58]and they could get books and the book and the letter started

[2:03]to pour in.

[2:04]We would send them free books.

[2:06]People donate they let's say like $25 would get each prisoner maybe

[2:10]six books.

[2:10]So I thought that was amazing, you know, cuz we would print

[2:14]the books at cost, right?

[2:16]And just, you know, send them into the prison for free for

[2:19]the prisoners because they don't have any money, you know, they're going

[2:22]through poverty.

[2:23]Their families are back home going through poverty.

[2:25]So the next thing you know, the letters are starting to come

[2:28]back.

[2:28]starting to come back and they're telling us that the people are

[2:32]in the prisons converting to Shia Islam.
