[0:04]So was you was this your first understanding of the complexities within

[0:07]Islam in other words that you know it's not just well we

[0:11]are all one body Muslims we all believe in one God and

[0:15]and obviously his prophet his holy prophet peace and peace be upon

[0:18]him and the book but was this your first realization of the

[0:21]fact that well there were actually some differences there were different shades

[0:24]of Muslim different opinions within Islam?

[0:26]Well, I always knew that there was the different sects.

[0:29]I mean, obviously there's the I think the two main ones were

[0:33]obviously Sunni and Shia.

[0:34]Um, and in my head, the Sunnis were um the main body

[0:39]of people and the more rounded.

[0:41]Yeah.

[0:42]The more Well, cuz it's the majority, so you just assume that

[0:46]the majority are right.

[0:47]And the Shia were from what I could understand the troublemakers.

[0:51]That's the only way I can concept that I have of the

[0:54]that I had of the Shia.

[0:55]Um, and I obviously thought because they're small, they're the smaller, they're

[1:00]the minority, then maybe they were a little bit crazy and you

[1:03]know, they have to have to be heard type of thing.

[1:06]So that's they make a lot of like noise because there's only

[1:09]a few of them.

[1:10]But I realized that because I'd come to Islam and obviously the

[1:15]prophet Muhammad's peace and blessings be upon him and his family was

[1:21]the messenger of Islam.

[1:22]I felt that okay so if I start right at the beginning

[1:27]and I learn about this personality so I learn about the prophet

[1:30]then I want to know everything about him.

[1:33]So like I would start reasoning about him and one of the

[1:36]things I realized is that um for me I wanted to live

[1:40]by his code of ethics by his morals.

[1:43]Sure.

[1:44]because he was this perfect example and I guess one of the

[1:48]things that came through one of the things that was apparent was

[1:52]I wanted to love those that he loved and the people that

[1:55]the prophet loved the most of course was his aubates his family

[1:58]and that's where I obviously started to understand the concept of um

[2:03]Shia and it was a very strange moment because I remember sitting

[2:08]there thinking but it's so obvious that the path for the Shia

[2:12]is correct versus the path of the didn't he?

[2:15]It makes logical sense for it to go, you know, these these

[2:20]these are infallible.

[2:21]They're not people that have sinned and ered along the way and

[2:25]then have nominated themselves to become the next successor.

[2:29]So for me, it just made logical sense that this was the

[2:33]correct path.
