In this episode, my grandson Ali Yahya shows me his new toy. It's special - it sings the months in the Islamic calendar. The months of Muharram, Rajab, Dhulq’adah and Dhulhijjah are Ash-hurul hurum; the sacred months. A significance of these sacred months is that the recompense for good deeds is amplified and so is punishment for bad deeds. The blessed days of Dhul-Hijjah, one of the Ash-hurul hurum, are almost upon us! The entire month of Dhul Hijjah is important and special, and up until the very last day, there are important historical events to celebrate and reflect upon. A significant historical event during this month is the fasting and retreat by Nabi Musa a.s. to the Mount Sinai (Tur) / Valley of Tuwa for a period of 40 days as instructed by Allah SWT.
As we prepare to perform this special salat, I invite you to shake ourselves by reflecting on FIVE points based on the special prayer of the appointed days.
Al Mahdi Health Committee is proud to present:
"An Expert's Guide on How Your Diet Can Change Your Life"
For this event, we are fortunate to be welcoming Dr Andrew Sheppard, an expert in nutrition, who has published a number of papers on the use of nutrition interventions in the management of health conditions, such as diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure. He will be giving us an overview of some of the key ways in which we can improve our health through our diet.
This will be followed by a cooking demo, delivered by Sister Farzana Walji Hooda, who will be taking us step-by-step through a healthy and tasty recipe.
Finally, attendees will have the opportunity to have your questions answered in a Q&A session with our esteemed guests.

Qasida
This Ashrae Muharram at Wessex Jamaat, we had a combination of online and onsite majlis sessions for the young people of our community.
The overall theme for the Azadari session was ‘We Love Husayn.’
MashAllah the children eagerly participated in the programme through their recitation of Qur’an, Marthiya / Nawhas, short talk and art activity to reflect this theme
Alhamdulillah we continue offering abundant of thanks to Allah SWT for the gift of life and granting us another opportunity of performing azadari. Thank you dear parents for encouraging your children to attend and take part in various activities of the programme.
We pray for the Azadari to be blessed by Fatima Zahra a.s. and to be Divinely rewarded.

Welcome to 'Sheikh It Up', a mini-series to SHAKE up our thoughts and reflect on them whilst we 'keep our distance, wash our hands, think of others and play our part. All together'. This is an act of kindness to others.
In the UK, one can’t pick strawberries throughout the year. Strawberry picking has a season which is from April to August when seasonal workers are employed. Can one be a ‘seasonal Muslim’? Do you know what the 'REM’ seasons are in the Islamic calendar?
Let me know via email what are the ways you are undertaking now - post-Shahru Ramadhan - to continue keeping ablaze the wonderful achievements you had attained during Shahru Ramadhan.
