[0:02]In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate May Allah send

[0:10]blessings upon Muhammad and his Household O Allah, I ask You by

[0:20]Your mercy, which embraces all things; And by Your strength, through which

[0:29]You dominatest all things, And toward which all things are humble And

[0:37]before which all things are lowly; And by Your invincibility through which

[0:45]You overwhelmest all things, And by Your might, which nothing can resist;

[0:54]And by Your tremendousness, which has filled all things; by Your force,

[1:02]which towers over all things; And by Your face, which subsists after

[1:10]the annihilation of all things, And by Your Names, which have filled

[1:17]the foundations of all things; And by Your knowledge, which encompasses all

[1:26]things; And by the light of Your face, through which all things

[1:34]are illumined!

[1:35]O Light!

[1:38]O All-holy!

[1:41]O First of those who are first And O Last of those

[1:47]who are last!

[1:49]O Allah, forgive me those sins which tear apart safeguards!

[1:56]O Allah, forgive me those sins which draw down adversities!

[2:04]O Allah, forgive me those sins which alter blessings!

[2:12]O Allah forgive me those sins which hold back supplication!

[2:20]O Allah, forgive me those sins which draw down tribulation!

[2:27]O Allah, forgive me every sin I have committed and every mistake

[2:37]I have made!

[2:40]O Allah, verily I seek nearness to You through remembrance of You,

[2:49]And I seek intercession from You with Yourself, And I ask You

[2:56]through Your munificence to bring me near to Your proximity, And to

[3:05]provide me with gratitude toward You And to inspire me with Your

[3:14]remembrance.

[3:15]O Allah, verily I ask You with the asking of a submissive,

[3:25]abased and lowly man to show me forbearance, to have mercy on

[3:35]me And to make me satisfied and content with Your appointment and

[3:45][make me] humble in every state.

[3:50]O Allah, I ask You the question of one whose indigence is

[3:59]extreme, And who has stated to You in difficulties his need And

[4:10]whose desire for what is with You has become great.

[4:17]O Allah, Your force is tremendous, Your place is lofty, And Your

[4:27]plan is hidden, Your command is manifest, And Your domination is overwhelming,

[4:36]Your power is unhindered And escape from Your governance is impossible.

[4:47]O Allah, I find no forgiver of my sins, Nor concealer of

[4:56]my ugly acts Nor transformer of any of my ugly acts into

[5:06]good acts but You There is no god but You!

[5:14]Glory be to You, and Thine is the praise!

[5:18]I have wronged myself, and I have been audacious in my ignorance

[5:27]And I have depended upon Your ancient remembrance of me and Your

[5:32]favour toward me.

[5:34]O Allah!

[5:35]O my Protector!

[5:37]How many ugly things You hast concealed!

[5:41]How many burdensome tribulations You hast abolished!

[5:47]And how many stumbles You hast prevented!

[5:50]And how many ordeals You hast repelled!

[5:54]And how much beautiful praise, for which I was unworthy, You hast

[6:04]spread abroad!

[6:05]O Allah, my tribulation is tremendous, And my bad state is excessive,

[6:15]And my acts are inadequate, and my fetters have tied me down,

[6:25]And my far-fetched hopes have held me back from my gain And

[6:32]this world with its delusions, my own soul with its offences and

[6:40]my delay have deceived me.

[6:43]O my Master!

[6:45]So I ask You by Your might not to let my evil

[6:52]works and acts veil my supplication from You, And not to disgrace

[6:59]me through the hidden things You knowest of my secrets And not

[7:05]to hasten me to punishment for what I have done in private:

[7:13]My evil acts in secrecy and my misdeeds And my continuous negligence

[7:20]and my ignorance And my manifold passions and my forgetfulness.

[7:27]And by Your might, O Allah, be kind to me in all

[7:35]states And be gracious to me in all affairs!

[7:43]My God and my Lord!

[7:46]Have I any but You from whom to ask removal of my

[7:55]affliction and regard for my affairs!

[7:59]My God and my Protector!

[8:01]You put into effect through me a decree in which I followed

[8:07]the caprice of my own soul And [I] did not remain wary

[8:13]of adorning my enemy.

[8:16]So he deluded me through my soul's caprice and therein destiny favoured

[8:23]him So, in what was put into effect through me in that

[8:28]situation, I transgressed some of Your statutes And disobeyed some of Your

[8:34]commands.

[8:35]So Thine is the Praise in all of that I have no

[8:42]argument in what Your destiny put into effect through me therein nor

[8:49]in what Your decree and Your tribulation imposed upon me.

[8:54]Now I have come to You, My God, after my shortcoming and

[9:02]my immoderation toward myself, Proffering my excuse, regretful, broken, apologizing, asking forgiveness,

[9:13]repenting, Acknowledging, submissive, confessing.

[9:17]I find no place to flee from what occurred through me, Nor

[9:26]any place of escape to which I may turn in my affairs,

[9:32]Other than Your acceptance of my excuse and Your entering me into

[9:38]the compass of Your mercy.

[9:41]O Allah, so accept my excuse, Have mercy upon the severity of

[9:49]my affliction And release me from the tightness of my fetters, My

[9:57]Lord, have mercy upon the weakness of my body, the thinness of

[10:05]my skin and the frailty of my bones.

[10:11]O You who gave rise to my creation, to the remembrance of

[10:15]me, to the nurture of me, to goodness toward me and to

[10:19]nourishment on me, Bestow upon me for the sake of Your having

[10:23]given rise [to me] with generosity and Your previous goodness to me!

[10:26]O Allah, my Master and my Lord!

[10:32]Canst You see Yourself tormenting me with Your fire after I have

[10:36]professed Your Unity And after the knowledge of You my heart has

[10:43]embraced, And the remembrance of You my tongue has constantly mentioned And

[10:49]the love of You to which my mind has clung, And after

[10:55]the sincerity of my confession and my supplication, humble before Your lordship?

[11:03]Far be it from You!

[11:06]You art more generous than that You shouldst squander him whom You

[11:11]hast nurtured, Or banish him whom You hast brought nigh, Or drive

[11:17]away him whom You hast given an abode Or submit to tribulation

[11:23]him whom You hast spared and shown mercy.

[11:27]Would that I knew, my Master, My God and my Protector, Whether

[11:35]You wilt give the Fire dominion over faces fallen down prostrate before

[11:43]Your Tremendousness, And over tongues voicing sincerely the profession of Your Unity

[11:51]and giving thanks to You in praise, And over hearts acknowledging Your

[11:59]Divinity through verification, And over minds encompassing knowledge of You until they

[12:09]have become humble And over bodily members speeding to the places of

[12:17]Your worship in obedience and beckoning for Your forgiveness in submission.

[12:25]No such opinion is held of You!

[12:28]Nor has such been reported - thanks to Your bounty — concerning

[12:34]You, O All-generous!

[12:35]My Lord, And You knowest my weakness before a little of this

[12:44]world's tribulations and punishments, And before those ordeals which befall its inhabitants,

[12:54]Even though it is a tribulation and ordeal whose stay is short,

[13:00]whose subsistence is but little and, whose period is but fleeting.

[13:06]So how can I endure the tribulations of the next world and

[13:16]the great ordeals that occur within it?

[13:21]For it is a tribulation whose period is long, whose station endures

[13:29]and whose sufferers are given no respite, Since it only occurs as

[13:37]a result of Your wrath, Your vengeance and Your anger, And these

[13:44]cannot be withstood by the heavens and the earth.

[13:50]O Master, so what about me?!

[13:55]For I am Your weak, lowly, base, wretched and miserable slave.

[14:05]My God!

[14:06]My Lord!

[14:08]My Master!

[14:09]My Protector!

[14:10]For which things would I complain to You?

[14:15]And for which of them would I lament and weep?

[14:21]For the pain and severity of chastisement?

[14:26]Or for the length and period of tribulation?

[14:32]So if You takest me to the punishments with Your enemies, And

[14:40]gatherest me with the people of Your tribulation And separatest me from

[14:50]Your friends and saints, Then suppose, My God, my Master, my Protector

[14:58]and my Lord that I am able to endure Your chastisement, How

[15:05]can I endure separation from You?

[15:10]And suppose that I am able to endure the heat of Your

[15:15]fire, How can I endure not gazing upon Your generosity?

[15:22]Or how can I dwell in the Fire while my hope is

[15:29]Your pardon?

[15:30]So by Your might, my Master and my protector, I swear sincerely,

[15:38]if You leavest me with speech, I will lament to You from

[15:45]the midst of the Fire's inhabitants with lamentation of the hopeful; I

[15:51]will cry to You with the cry of those crying for help;

[15:59]I will weep to You with the weeping of the bereft; And

[16:08]I will call to You, Where art You, O Sponsor of the

[16:15]believers, O Goal of the hopes of Your knowers, O Aid of

[16:24]those who seek assistance, O Friend of the hearts of the sincere

[16:35]And O God of all the world's inhabitants!

[16:39]Canst You see Yourself — Glory be to You My God, and

[16:43]Thine is the praised — hearing within the Fire the voice of

[16:48]a slave surrendered to You, Imprisoned there because of his violations, Tasting

[16:54]the favour of its torment because of his disobedience, And confined within

[17:00]its levels because of his sin and crime, While he laments to

[17:06]You with the lament of one hopeful for Your mercy, And calls

[17:12]to You with the tongue of those who profess Your Unity And

[17:19]entreats You by Your lordship!

[17:25]My Protector, so how should he remain in the chastisement, while he

[17:36]has hope for Your previous clemency?

[17:41]Or how should the Fire cause him pain while he expects Your

[17:50]bounty and mercy?

[17:52]Or how should its flames burn him, while You hearest his voice

[18:00]and seest his place?

[18:03]Or how should its groaning encompass him, while You knowest his weakness?

[18:12]Or how should he be convulsed among its levels, while You knowest

[18:19]his sincerity?

[18:20]Or how should its keepers torture him while he calls out to

[18:29]You, O Lord?

[18:31]Or how should he have hope of Your bounty in freeing him

[18:37]from it, while You abandonest him within it?

[18:41]Far be it from You!

[18:43]That is not what is expected of You, Nor what is well-known

[18:48]of Your bounty, Nor it is similar to the goodness and kindness

[18:54]You hast shown to those who profess Your Unity.

[18:59]So I declare with certainty that were it not for what You

[19:04]hast decreed concerning the chastisement of Your deniers And what You hast

[19:09]foreordained concerning the everlasting home of those who stubbornly resist, You wouldst

[19:14]make the Fire, all of it, coolness and safety, And no one

[19:20]would have a place of rest or abode within it.

[19:25]But You—holy are Your Names—hast sworn that You wilt fill it with

[19:34]the unbelievers, Both Jinn and men together, And that You wilt place

[19:42]those who stubbornly resist therein forever.

[19:45]And You— majestic is Your eulogy— said at the beginning and wernt

[19:52]gracious through kindness as a favour, (What?

[19:56]Is he who has been believer like unto him who has been

[20:01]ungodly?

[20:01]They are not equal) My God and my Master!

[20:06]So I ask You by the power You hast apportioned And by

[20:13]the decision which You hast determined and imposed and through which You

[20:18]hast overcome him toward whom it has been put into effect, That

[20:23]You forgivest me in this night and at this hour Every offence

[20:31]I have committed, And every sin I have performed, And every ugly

[20:39]thing I have concealed And every folly I have enacted Whether I

[20:46]have hidden or announced it, Or I have concealed it or manifested

[20:52]it And every evil act which You hast commanded the Noble Writers

[20:59]to record, Those whom You hast appointed to watch over what appears

[21:05]from me And whom You hast made, along with my bodily members,

[21:10]witness against me.

[21:12]And You wast Yourself the Watcher over me from behind them, And

[21:17]the Witness of what is hidden from them But through Your mercy

[21:23]You concealed it And through Your bounty You veiled it.

[21:28][And I ask You] that You bestowest upon me an abundant share

[21:32]of every good You sendest down, Or kindness You conferrest, Or goodness

[21:40]You unfoldest, Or provision You spreadest out, Or sin You forgivest, or

[21:49]error You coverest.

[21:52]My Lord!

[21:54]My Lord!

[21:56]My Lord!

[21:58]My God!

[21:59]My Master!

[22:00]My Protector!

[22:02]Owner of my bondage!

[22:05]O He in whose hand is my forelock!

[22:09]O He who knows my affliction and my misery!

[22:14]O He who is aware of my poverty and indigence!

[22:20]My Lord!

[22:22]My Lord!

[22:23]My Lord!

[22:25]I ask You by Your Truth and Your Holiness And the greatest

[22:31]of Your Attributes and Names, That You makest my times in the

[22:37]night and the day inhabited by Your remembrance, And joined to Your

[22:44]service And my works acceptable to You, So that my works and

[22:52]my litanies may all be a single litany And my occupation with

[22:59]Your service everlasting.

[23:01]My Master!

[23:03]O He upon whom I depend!

[23:08]O He to whom I complain about my states!

[23:15]My Lord!

[23:17]My Lord!

[23:19]My Lord!

[23:21]Strengthen my bodily members in Your service, And fortify my ribs in

[23:30]determination And bestow upon me earnestness in my fear of You And

[23:36]continuity in my being joined to Your service So that I may

[23:42]move easily toward You in the battlefields of the foremost And hurry

[23:47]to You among the prominent And desire fervently Your proximity among the

[23:55]fervently desirous And move nearer to You with the nearness of the

[24:03]sincere And fear You with the fear of those who have certitude

[24:11]And gather with the believers in Your vicinity.

[24:17]O Allah, whoever desires evil for me, desire [it] for him!

[24:24]whoever deceives me-deceive him!

[24:28]And make me one of the most excellent of Your slaves in

[24:32]Portion from You, And the nearest of them in station to You

[24:38]And the most elected of them in proximity to You.

[24:41]For that cannot be attained except by Your bounty.

[24:47]And grant generously to me through Your munificence, And incline toward me

[24:51]with Your splendour And protect me with Your mercy!

[24:55]And make my tongue remember You without ceasing And my heart enthralled

[25:02]by Your love!

[25:04]And be gracious to me by answering me favourably, And nullify my

[25:10]slips, and forgive my lapses!

[25:13]For You hast decreed Your worship for Your servants And commanded them

[25:21]to supplicate You, and assured them that they would be answered.

[25:28]So toward You, my Lord, I have turned my face And toward

[25:37]You, my Lord, I have extended my hand.

[25:44]So by Your might, comply with my supplication And make me attain

[25:53]my desires!

[25:55]Do not severe my hoping for Your Favours And spare me the

[26:02]evil of my enemies from among the jinn and men!

[26:06]O He, whose pleasure is quickly achieved!

[26:13]Forgive him who owns nothing but supplication For You dost what You

[26:32]wilt.

[26:33]O He whose Name is a remedy, And whose remembrance is a

[26:44]cure, And whose obedience is wealth!

[26:51]Have mercy upon him whose capital is hope And whose weapon is

[27:01]tears!

[27:03]O Ample in blessings!

[27:05]O Repeller of adversities!

[27:08]O Light of those who are lonely in the darkness!

[27:14]O Knower who was never taught!

[27:18]Bless Muhammad and Muhammad's household!

[27:24]And do with me what is worthy of You!

[27:29]And Allah bless His messenger and the holy Imams of his household,

[27:43]and give them abundant peace!
