[20:56]before we start if you allow me there's a a few lines
[21:01]of poetry I would like to recite that will bring inshallah the
[21:04]spirits up on this Holy Night insh the universe is complicated and
[21:19]vast in Beauty and creation it is unique God is its creator
[21:28]the first and last the sustainer of both mind and physique Allah
[21:33]the exalted sent Messengers their Duty was to help in all aspects
[21:39]for Humanity teachers and Warners guided us all to what Islam expects
[21:46]their best and last was prophet Muhammad sallai their best and last
[21:57]was prophet Muhammad as the trustworthy honest he was known United people
[22:05]civil and Nomad then to his progeny passed on his crown Allah
[22:11]ordered him to appoint Ali Allah ordered him to appoint Ali the
[22:21]first successor Imam guide and W the first successor IM guide and
[22:25]muhammedi muhamad alhamd first and foremost we congratulate the Imam of our
[22:59]time IM yourselves your families on firstly on a more General basis
[23:13]the entrance of this beautiful month the month of Shan and more
[23:17]specifically on the of our beloved IM IM Hussein and of the
[23:31]best things to start a night like this with is with the
[23:35]words [Applause] of in which he [Music] said may Allah have mercy
[23:54]upon our sh they were made with the remainder of our clay
[23:57]and they were made with with the water of our they become
[24:03]happy for our happiness and they become sad for our sadness today
[24:12]my dear respected brothers sisters my dear respected uncles today what is
[24:18]important for us to talk about is that this month or this
[24:25]day not does it only Mark the of IM Al Hussein no
[24:29]it marks this start of a few happy occasions or many happy
[24:34]occasions that happen in the month of shaan actually it is the
[24:38]exact opposite that you will find in terms of the month of
[24:43]muharam muharam is that month that is filled with sadness and shaan
[24:46]is that month that is filled with happiness mam I don't need
[24:50]to talk to you about but you look at the month of
[24:54]shaan and you see that it starts with the of IM Hussein
[24:58]followed by followed by IM followed by Muslim followed byi and last
[25:08]but most definitely not least followed by the of our 12th IM
[25:20]and hence we have come together and I can see that you
[25:26]all mashallah are looking better than ever especially with the new haircuts
[25:30]and the way you've dressed mallah may Allah bless you all inshallah
[25:33]and allow you to be amongst those who are always in attendance
[25:38]of the happy occasions of the bit peace and blessings be upon
[25:41]them what is important for us to realize is that this is
[25:47]part of what identifies us as Shia part of what gives this
[25:52]gives us this identity of being a Shia and I thought it
[25:55]is actually important to look into this aspect itself it's especially on
[25:59]a day like this I mean part of what identifies me as
[26:03]a sh and part of what brings us together I mean let's
[26:09]be honest for a person who for example like myself who was
[26:11]born in a different country then moved to the UK and now
[26:14]lives in a different country and is from a total different background
[26:18]and amongst you are sitting people from different backgrounds what is it
[26:22]that brings us together what is it that's allowing us to shake
[26:24]hands what is it that is allowing us to hug and embrace
[26:28]each other what is it that is allowing us to kiss each
[26:30]other on the cheek what is that thing it's the identity that
[26:35]we share it is that Coe identity that we have together which
[26:38]is the idea of being what Shia this is what brings us
[26:44]all together however unfortunately today what we find is because of Technology
[26:52]if you like because of the fact that anyone before they used
[26:54]to say anyone who has a camera and a microphone now no
[26:59]anyone who has a smart smartphone can open us and some internet
[27:02]uh Broadband at home they can open any social media and it
[27:05]becomes a platform for them to speak on and hence you will
[27:10]find many different individuals that have come forward and try to dissect
[27:14]this term sh some said this this is a term that came
[27:18]at the time of there is no such thing that came during
[27:20]the time of our beloved Prophet is something new something that we
[27:26]don't understand something that we're far from it is that which causes
[27:30]sectarianism it is that which was not present during the life of
[27:32]the prophet and these are important things for us to question and
[27:34]look at that is number one the second issue that we find
[27:39]is that you find many narrations that talk about the Shia but
[27:42]what do they actually mean who are they referring to are they
[27:47]referring to us because last thing I checked was the sh themselves
[27:50]separate into multiple sects correct so who are those who are meant
[27:54]by the Shia these are important questions that we must ask ourself
[28:00]what is it or who do the imams mean every time they
[28:02]talk about the sh we started this beautiful narration by IM where
[28:13]he makes Dua for the Shia and I will come to explain
[28:17]this narration in more depth later during the talk inshallah where he
[28:21]makes Dua for the Shia who are the sh that he's making
[28:25]Dua for and what does he mean when he says they become
[28:27]happy for our happiness and they they become sad for our sadness
[28:32]all in all I saw this to be an extremely important topic
[28:35]something that because it's a core part of our identity it is
[28:38]that which brings us together in the name of IM Hussein inam
[28:42]and has brought us together today in the name of Imam Hussein
[28:45]in the month of shaan what does this word even mean and
[28:51]am I truly a part of it or not and this is
[28:55]something for us to reflect on at the end of tonight's talk
[28:58]inshallah so firstly we will look at the term sh and what
[29:02]is its linguistic meaning the second we will look as at its
[29:08]use and when was this word introduced and lastly we will assess
[29:12]this narration of Imam Assad and see what are the qualities that
[29:16]a sh should truly hold that makes them amongst those who are
[29:21]mentioned within this narration inshallah and we shall do that with your
[29:25]permission and with the blessings of three loud muham muhamad [Music] you
[29:48]know by the way I smile every time you do a salawat
[29:52]because every Community I have ever been to and even in these
[29:54]recent majales over this past week the first thing I have to
[30:00]start the talk with is reminding them of the importance of a
[30:02]salawat but masallah your salawat are so loud I can't even say
[30:07]such anything to you however let me tell you something amazing I
[30:10]know sometimes mentioned on these days and it's important for us to
[30:14]think of these things for it to lift our Spirits inshallah let
[30:16]me tell you and I want you to all be happy today
[30:21]for the heaviest Deed on the day of judgment Isam muhamad in
[30:33]its origin means and are the same meaning in the same way
[30:42]that you find for example because you might be confused these are
[30:45]two different words how is it that they can come under the
[30:49]same meaning in the same way that Salah and Dua come in
[30:54]the same meaning Salah consists of different letters to that of Dua
[30:57]but in reality they all come back to the same meaning its
[31:00]original meaning is Dua not Salah its original meaning is Dua likewise
[31:06]here and is the same thing its original meaning is what does
[31:14]it mean means a companion so when a person is called a
[31:19]sh of someone it means that they are a companion of a
[31:22]certain individual this is what it means it is important for us
[31:28]to look at Ling listic meanings for us to understand what we
[31:33]are talking about and then move on to meanings to see the
[31:36]application of such words and how were they used in different contexts
[31:44]because Shia itself also had different meanings it also came as the
[31:48]meaning of a sect or a group it also came in the
[31:53]meaning of a follower but it is normal for a single word
[31:56]to have multiple meanings in terms of its application its original meaning
[32:01]is one its application becomes many even the original meaning there is
[32:09]no harm in having multiple meanings for example you look at the
[32:13]Arabic word b you know you've all heard of you've heard of
[32:17]you've heard of uh the idea of having B what are these
[32:23]different things look depending on the context once I say and I
[32:28]am talking about the day of judgment and suddenly I am talking
[32:37]about when the soul is raised on to for this is B
[32:39]once I talk about B in the context of prophethood and what
[32:44]am I talking about now I'm talking about the start of the
[32:46]mission of our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alai and once I talk
[32:58]about B and I talk about it from a political point of
[33:02]view and suddenly I'm talking about the BST party see so the
[33:08]same word depending on the context it is used in you will
[33:10]find that then it will have different meanings likewise here depending on
[33:15]the context that it is used in it will have different meanings
[33:18]go back to the Quran and you will look for example in
[33:23]many verses multiple verses use this phrasing when it says it means
[33:30]and they were groups and they were sects in another verse you
[33:39]read and of his is it means and of his people of
[33:51]his King is so you see even here it comes in different
[33:56]meanings the Quran itself is using the same term in different meanings
[34:01]so then the question comes when we are talking about sh in
[34:08]the context of the of of the narrations of the B who
[34:09]did it mean this is something that we must ask ourself the
[34:15]context in which it came with it meant anyone that followed after
[34:21]our beloved Prophet Muhammad so anyone that followed after the prophet was
[34:35]called a what a this is the context in which we are
[34:38]talking about when you talk about sh in today's world you mean
[34:46]anyone who followed after the prophet however we must realize that was
[34:52]not just followed by a certain group of people no those same
[34:57]groups of people then SE seated into different groups hence sometimes when
[35:03]you talk from an academic point of view or sometimes when you
[35:07]are uh in a in a comparative study sometimes you have to
[35:10]do what you have to specify you have you have you have
[35:17]these are different types of that you have so sometimes you have
[35:23]to specify which one you are talking about some words have the
[35:27]general meaning and it is what makes the mind go to a
[35:30]specific one sometimes you have to gener sometimes you have to specify
[35:37]usually when we keep it General we mean the the narrations that
[35:41]we talk about I'll let you wait on that in just a
[35:45]bit I will narrate to you a narration that happened during the
[35:47]time of IM Jawad and you will see how it was used
[35:53]however when did this word starts is it true that during the
[35:54]time of the Prophet there was no such thing and is it
[35:59]true that this only came by later Scholars these are things that
[36:02]we have to know unfortunately today I have seen many people come
[36:07]forward to me and they're confused in regards to this word especially
[36:10]because of the confusions that are caused on social media and in
[36:17]some scholarly articles the first person to use Shia in this context
[36:22]that we are talking about is our beloved Prophet Muhammad s alai
[36:26]was abdah narrates he says one day I was sitting by the
[36:37]prophet and walked in the prophet looked at him and he said
[36:46]I swear by the one who is in control of my soul
[36:50]it is him and his that are victorious on the day of
[36:54]judgment it is him and his Shia that Are Victorious on the
[37:00]day of judgment then Allah revealed indeed the ones who believed and
[37:14]performed the Good Deeds they are the best of people in another
[37:20]narration IB Abbas comes to the prophet and he says to him
[37:23]Yol Allah who was this verse revealed about he said by Allah
[37:27]it was revealed about and his look the term sh was used
[37:33]by who by our beloved Prophet before you come and tell me
[37:36]IIM where did you get this narration from is it in the
[37:41]sh books no go back to by he mentions it exactly as
[37:44]I just mentioned it that jab abdah was sitting in that manner
[37:49]and the rest of that narration so the reality is this term
[37:53]started from the time of the Prophet it wasn't a new term
[38:00]that came about later not at all and our beloved immaculates continued
[38:04]using this term you will find narrations during the time of IM
[38:10]Z mentioning the sh during the time of IM mentioning the during
[38:17]the time of IM mentioning the in fact during the time of
[38:25]IM there is a beautiful lengthy narration in regards to the where
[38:31]he says you know many times we talk about how we should
[38:38]have W to those who had W to them and how we
[38:44]should stay away from those that hated them do you know how
[38:46]IM speaks W when you look at the love and the compassion
[38:51]of the imams it makes us embarrassed it makes us embarrassed as
[38:54]to how short we have come towards them do you know what
[39:00]im says he says we do of those who are friends with
[39:03]our Shia and we perform we disassociate ourself from those who hate
[39:09]our sh IM is saying I associate with those that associate with
[39:18]you inshallah I disassociate from those that disassociate from you do you
[39:22]know what else he says he says and there isn't a single
[39:24]one of our Shia that falls ill accept that we become the
[39:30]first to visit them the first to visit them this is the
[39:32]words of our beloved Imam IM now to prove to you that
[39:46]the term sh in the narrations is usually referred to in the
[39:52]sense of the is one simple narration that is simple in its
[40:00]meaning deep sorry simple in its words deep in its meaning IM
[40:04]jaad when he was born Imam said something very important he said
[40:12]there isn't a single birth that is of more blessing upon our
[40:16]sh than the birth of my son not a single birth that
[40:21]is of more blessing upon our than the birth of my son
[40:25]there is many meanings behind that but just the one that we
[40:32]want from it look at the different sects of the sh the
[40:35]maximum the maximum that they reached is IM and they were known
[40:40]as they are the ones that stopped at IM the rest between
[40:46]the zis who followed Zade the son of IM Z and between
[40:53]the Isis who followed is the son of Imad and between the
[41:01]who followed after but then all of them became after Abdullah passed
[41:08]away a year after the martydom of our beloved Imam meaning by
[41:13]the time you get to the time of IM jaad those who
[41:18]followed IM who were they only the ones that continued in the
[41:22]imama of the 12 imams whereas all the rest the maximum they
[41:27]reached was that they stopped by the IM of IM meaning when
[41:32]he says there isn't a birth that is of more blessing upon
[41:38]our who does he mean he mean the it is clear from
[41:42]this verse which is why by the way from this narration which
[41:44]is why by the way you will find that IM because he
[41:51]reached an old age those who became of the used this used
[41:57]this as proof that he does not have a son and hence
[41:59]we are the ones that are correct in staying with the imama
[42:04]of IM and he will reappear then he had a son at
[42:09]an older age and he narrated this narration so it is clear
[42:12]from this narration then what it means anyway so we have all
[42:17]of these narrations and this is why I urged and I mentioned
[42:20]the linguistic meaning and the contextual meaning of these words look when
[42:25]you focus on these types of meanings in the Arabic language look
[42:29]at how much more you can extract from these Hadith look at
[42:33]how much more you can take from the meanings of the words
[42:35]of our beloved immaculates now the narration we started with a beautiful
[42:44]narration Imad starts with a Dua do you know what kind of
[42:51]Dua this is do you know what it means when Imad an
[42:53]Immaculate IM puts up his hands in Dua and and he says
[43:00]may Allah have mercy upon a certain individual can we just try
[43:06]to understand the meanings of such a thing can we just try
[43:09]to understand the blessings of such a thing the Imam raising his
[43:16]hand and saying may Allah have mercy upon our sh may we
[43:19]be of the Shia inshallah may Allah have mercy upon our Shia
[43:25]the IM is praying for you inshallah what a prayer 1,400 years
[43:29]ago the IM raised his hand in Dua for each and every
[43:34]single one of you inshallah what does he say what is it
[43:39]what quality do these sh have may we be counted amongst them
[43:44]what quality do they have I want you I know we mentioned
[43:49]this narration at the start briefly I'm going to say it slowly
[43:52]I want you to just think about this look at the words
[43:58]of the IM he says they were created from the remainder of
[44:02]our clay do you know what that means imagine Allah the exalted
[44:10]created 14 immaculates imagine Allah created our beloved prophets and the rest
[44:22]of our 11th imams 11 imams and then what did he do
[44:25]he said there was a bit of Cl remaining on the side
[44:30]he brought it and he made created their sh from that clay
[44:35]can we just try to comprehend what we're talking about they were
[44:42]created from the remainder of our clay and they were made they
[44:48]were made with the water of our that remained in clay Allah
[44:56]brought it and created sh from it and clay you need to
[44:58]add some water to it to mold it in a certain way
[45:03]they were molded with the water of our will I just want
[45:09]you to just think about this that if we are of the
[45:12]sh have we even tried to grasp such a thing and understand
[45:17]such a thing and keep it within ourself the way that we
[45:23]carry ourself is it that way that we have a part a
[45:28]part of the of the same clay that the immaculate was made
[45:30]from is within me and is a part of me you know
[45:36]when you have a blood relation to someone when you have a
[45:42]close relationship in creation I am talking not in relationship for example
[45:47]to your father to your mother to your brother to your sister
[45:51]to your uncle to your aunt isn't it that this blood relation
[45:57]then causes a person to automatically become closer to another individual isn't
[46:02]this blood relation then that which causes a person to become happy
[46:08]when they see that other person in a state of happiness and
[46:14]upset and sad when they see another person in that state of
[46:17]sadness what is the cause of that this blood relation that we
[46:23]have correct now with the immaculates we don't have a blood relation
[46:26]but we have that that relation that we were made with the
[46:30]remainder of their clay and hence the Imam continues he says these
[46:34]individuals have equality do we want to know if we are part
[46:39]of those who are made with the remainder of that clay because
[46:43]he tells you that those who who were made with the remainder
[46:46]of the clay and molded with the water of the will what
[46:52]quality do they have they become happy for our happiness they become
[47:00]sad they become upset for our sadness this is a quality that
[47:07]should be a direct result of that meaning if I want to
[47:10]assess myself and see am I a part of the sh that
[47:15]are mentioned in these narrations do I have that and what does
[47:17]that mean and this is exactly why I brought it up on
[47:22]a night like this someone's going to come and tell me Ibrahim
[47:25]you're a bit too serious today today is the start of a
[47:32]month of Celebration and we need to start it right shahan don't
[47:36]let it be a month that just passes by because Shah Ramadan
[47:41]is coming up use it as a chance to prepare for it
[47:45]these are holy months don't take them lightly becoming happy for their
[47:51]happiness doesn't mean to remember that them in their births and that's
[47:59]it it's a part of it it's an important part of it
[48:02]no becoming happy for their happiness is something much greater becoming upset
[48:06]and sad for their sadness is much greater I ask you what
[48:13]is the happiness of the Imam what is the sadness of the
[48:19]Imam and I'm going to keep it very simple their emotions are
[48:24]related to that which Allah wants the one who pleases Allah the
[48:28]immaculate becomes happy displeasure makes the immaculate unhappy it makes them sad
[48:37]that effect is what they are talking about that should be in
[48:41]us when we think that we should be of those who are
[48:47]happy for their happiness it is a inner feeling that we have
[48:54]when we are in a state of worship and it is a
[48:55]inner feeling that we have when we are in a state of
[49:00]when we are in a state and transgression this isn't something that
[49:04]we should apply at all and even when seeing it which is
[49:09]why even that verse look I'm going to bring it all back
[49:14]for you together inshallah that verse that we mentioned that the prophet
[49:20]used to call Ali and his and he said indeed those who
[49:29]have believed and performed the Good Deeds they are the best of
[49:36]people what were the prerequisites of being the best of people the
[49:44]prophet we know said very good but Ali and had a prerequisite
[49:47]just like this one said happy for our happiness AMU believed and
[49:52]we spoke about Iman during the month of muharam and what imman
[49:57]IM it's that when I say it isn't just words that come
[50:15]on my tongue it is that which I believe in my heart
[50:17]and it is that which my actions reflect isn't this a summary
[50:22]of what we discussed in the month of mam inside the heart
[50:28]something I believe within the heart truly and my action should reflect
[50:33]it that is IM and performed Good Deeds they are of the
[50:38]best people they are Ali and his so if you want to
[50:43]change the wording it is those that truly believed in their hearts
[50:46]and uttered it with their tongues and reflected it in their actions
[50:53]by doing good deeds they are the best of people and I
[50:56]mean Ali and his that's what the verse then means and if
[51:00]you look at the Quran and try to bring some verses together
[51:03]sometimes you get a very nice understanding of something even greater what
[51:09]does Allah call the best of Nations why were we the best
[51:14]of Nations you are the best of Nations taken out to the
[51:19]people what quality do we have you enjoy good and you forbid
[51:29]from Evil isn't this the same exact thing isn't this the happiness
[51:33]and sadness now before you come and tell me performing these enjoining
[51:37]good forbidding evil comes with jurist Prudential prerequisites comes with conditions correct
[51:42]of its conditions is that I know for example the person I
[51:48]am about to enjoin the person I'm about to forbid is a
[51:51]person who is consistent in that action I need to be of
[51:57]those who know what the good is and what the evil is
[52:01]I need to know that they are or they have a chance
[52:02]that they might listen to me I need to make sure that
[52:07]there will be no harm that will come to me my family
[52:11]or my wealth this is all part of the conditions correct however
[52:15]at the same time that is the condition for taking action on
[52:19]forbidding evil and enjoying good whereas the first stage of enjoying good
[52:25]and forbidding evil is is in the heart and that there is
[52:31]no excuse in meaning if I see an evil I need to
[52:35]look at my heart how does it feel towards that evil because
[52:37]that is my measure someone comes to him one day and W
[52:50]if we leave everything we said today today and just take this
[52:54]narration someone came to him one day and he said to him
[53:01]my beloved Master how do I know if I am upon goodness
[53:03]is in this something we always ask ourself something we should always
[53:07]ask ourself am I truly upon goodness is Allah pleased with me
[53:13]isn't this a question that always comes up he asked the Imam
[53:16]says give me a measure give me something I can use so
[53:21]that I know he said to him look at your heart if
[53:26]your heart loves the people of obedience then there is goodness within
[53:32]you and if your heart shows love to the people of Disobedience
[53:36]then you have no chance of goodness within you this is a
[53:41]measure look at the Quran again I want to bring you back
[53:46]to the Quran I want you to see these beautiful meanings but
[53:53]he made you love IM Faith was and he decorated it within
[54:03]your hearts and he made you hate disbelief sinning transgression these are
[54:15]things that he made you hate and these are things he made
[54:18]you love this is because happiness and sadness is an internal feeling
[54:27]that you have within the heart it is not a smile or
[54:33]a frown true happiness is when your heart lights up and true
[54:36]sadness is when you feel that distress within your heart this is
[54:41]the idea of do we love belief do we love good deeds
[54:48]do we love the doers of the good or where does our
[54:52]heart lie this is a measure that I need to apply to
[54:56]myself me I need to put my head on the pillow and
[54:59]ask myself where am I in all of this because I would
[55:04]love to be of the sh I would love to be of
[55:08]the Shia but am I but this is the measures that the
[55:12]Quran is giving me when I added to the narrations of theit
[55:14]peace and blessings be upon them all and these are things I
[55:21]must reflect on Shan is a month of Happiness shaan is a
[55:25]month of Celebration but do you know what says about he says
[55:32]every day every day that Allah is not disobeyed in is a
[55:40]day ofid every day that Allah is not disobey in is a
[55:43]day of not just the of IM Hussein not just the of
[55:50]not just not just not not not any of that any day
[55:56]any day that Allah is not dis B in is a day
[55:57]ofid let me reflect and it is not too late if I
[56:05]have come today and realized do you know what I want to
[56:07]be of those that the Imam says they were obeyed with the
[56:11]remainder of the clay and molded with the water of the will
[56:13]but I have an issue with my happiness and sadness because sometimes
[56:18]I become happy in Disobedience or I become sad in obedience maybe
[56:25]it's not too late the month of forgiveness is coming up and
[56:28]this is why I said shaan is a month to prepare the
[56:32]month of forgiveness is coming up the month of Ramadan like no
[56:35]other the nights of are coming up do you know what Allah
[56:40]says look at how he talks to us look at how he
[56:46]talks to his slaves who have lost all hope he says say
[56:56]oh my SL slaves look look at the way Allah is talking
[57:00]to us says my slaves he's talking about Sinners what what is
[57:06]he calling them my slaves you're mine I want to keep you
[57:09]I want to embrace you he didn't say say oh slaves or
[57:13]say oh Sinners oh say no no no no no he he
[57:15]could have also said say oh my oh slaves of Allah and
[57:21]talked in the third person Allah is talking in the first person
[57:24]he's saying my slaves you're mine you have sinned you've transgressed you've
[57:29]gone a bit too far you're mine say oh my slaves and
[57:34]then he uses the word of is he didn't say oh my
[57:39]slave who sinned he didn't say oh my slave who transgressed he
[57:42]said oh my slave who's gone a bit too far just a
[57:46]bit too far do not despair from the mercy of Allah never
[57:53]despair this in itself gives me a full meaning of the verse
[57:58]that Allah is forgiving yet Allah said this is not enough I'm
[58:04]going to give you more do you not despair from the mercy
[58:07]of Allah Allah forgiv sins now I know that he can forgive
[58:18]any sin right no no no Allah said I'm going to give
[58:20]you more all of them whatever you might think of then he
[58:28]addresses us with two characteristics of his of Mercy he is the
[58:40]one that forgives and he is the one who is merciful so
[58:44]it is important for me to reflect because I say this and
[58:49]wah it is scary wah it is scary and I'm not here
[58:51]to scare you I'm here to remind myself firstly inshallah but these
[58:56]are important terms we need to understand you know one day a
[59:00]group of people come to the house of IM and as they
[59:04]are at his door the Imam kept them waiting one of his
[59:10]close companions came to him he said to him my master these
[59:12]are your Shia outside how is it that you've kept them waiting
[59:15]because Shia have a status how is it that you kept them
[59:20]waiting outside said who told you they are of my Shia he
[59:24]said they said so they said we I said who told you
[59:30]they said so he said no by Allah they are not of
[59:32]my sh I said why said because I cannot see the signs
[59:35]of worship on their faces let me reflect upon my state let
[59:42]me reflect upon my identity to what extent do I withhold this
[59:51]identity of because yes there is a status for the Shia we
[59:53]just read and other proof that it was you during the time
[59:59]of the Prophet this we just read and look at how it
[60:04]talks about it says that this this news this narration is not
[60:09]mentioned when there is a group of our and of our lovers
[60:15]may we be of the Shia and the lovers and there is
[60:17]a group of the Shia and the lovers except that there is
[60:22]a person who is in distress that Allah removes that from them
[60:32]then and not a single individual that has a need except that
[60:37]Allah answers their needs imagine what kind of status a has that
[60:43]a would just lift up their hand in Dua after for example
[60:49]reciting in a gathering like this where they have gathered to remember
[60:55]the bit and this is how they their duas will be answered
[60:57]so I come and repeat may Allah have mercy upon our sh
[61:03]I think now that we've taken all of this let's read this
[61:08]narration of Imad once again and you will see it in a
[61:13]different light inshallah may Allah have mercy upon our Shia they were
[61:17]made with the remainder of our clay and they were molded with
[61:21]the water of our will they become happy for our happiness and
[61:27]they become sad for our sadness may we be of those that
[61:32]become happy for the happiness of the B may we be of
[61:34]those that become sad for their sadness inshallah may we be of
[61:40]those that Allah Asel allows us to live their life oh Allah
[61:42]allow us to live the life of Muhammad and Al Muhammad oh
[61:47]Allah allow us to Die the death of Muhammad and Al Muhammad
[61:49]oh Allah allow us to be at the Forefront of those that
[61:52]commemorate their martoms and those that celebrate their happy occasions oh Allah
[62:01]hasten in the reappearance of and allow us to be amongst his
[62:05]supporters oh Allah bless those who have attended and accept their deeds

[81:33]to invite to the podium Dr mwai Hass on behalf of the
[81:35]babul foundation who is going to give a short presentation um some
[81:40]of you may know him and the little introduction I've had obviously
[81:43]I'm sure he will introduce himself but he's the younger brother of
[81:46]Muhammad B Muhammad uh the previously of westx previous uh past chairman
[81:51]of westx jamat let's invite him to the podium with a loud
[81:54]salawat Al Muhammad Ali Muhammad uh my brothers and sisters before I
[82:31]commence my presentation there are two quick things one is as you
[82:38]can see Babin Foundation UK is a charity but I'm not here
[82:41]to raise funds but I'm definitely here to raise awareness of the
[82:47]type of work we do it is unique work it's in an
[82:53]area many people don't know about and the slides will reveal some
[82:57]many unknown facts and it might help if you move here so
[83:02]you can see the slides because it's all slight dependent uh so
[83:06]that's the first thing second thing is that um I know it
[83:13]has been a long program and uh if you all have to
[83:15]go home and so I will go tell my presentation and I'll
[83:21]accelerate it so please bear with me but I will stay here
[83:23]till the end in fact I'm spending the night in this beautiful
[83:27]place not in the building but in the in your town so
[83:31]if there are any questions anything you want to ask I'm at
[83:36]your service um if you're all comfortable I'm I may be in
[83:39]your way I don't know so uh my learned Scholars and uh
[83:47]my brothers and sisters in the name of Allah the merciful the
[83:50]mercy giving can you hear me all okay okay fine Babalon Foundation
[83:57]UK is a British registered charity it's it was started 3 years
[84:01]ago and we are not just registered in the United Kingdom but
[84:06]we are also in the United States in Iraq and in Pakistan
[84:13]four questions get asked to us who what where and why well
[84:19]we are the two Founders we are both pensioners I'm 75 and
[84:22]my colleague muhmad Akbar is 73 three and we started this charity
[84:28]3 years ago because there was a need we are helping in
[84:31]an area where these are completely forgotten people nobody no charity nobody
[84:36]else go there so we are there I'm H muhamad as Muhammad
[84:41]Muhammad's younger brother and my partner is Muhammad abbal Ali our Patron
[84:49]is shikh Nur Muhammad and we get considerable support from the office
[84:53]of say a kashmiri and say and shik Bashir Nafi through their
[84:59]representatives in the UK on the right hand side you can see
[85:06]there um say alar I think he has I believe also recited
[85:10]here he is in fact he was one of our Trustees for
[85:14]until recently but because of his International commitments and speaking engagements he
[85:20]uh he had to resign molana Abid bami again again who doesn't
[85:25]know him in fact he one of our ambassadors works very closely
[85:31]with us and launched our housing program for us when we receive
[85:36]money from the donors it is a big responsibility to make sure
[85:39]that the money is safe and it reaches the right people and
[85:45]right type of work and correct Islamic laws and guidance is followed
[85:49]we I'm pleased to say we passed the scrutiny of uh of
[85:56]European jamat and now we are on the safe list of Charities
[85:58]as recognized by them so our first project was in Naf sorry
[86:15]thank you you can clear I'm 75 I'm not a technical genius
[86:21]um our first project was in najaf where we built a million
[86:29]dooll School uh for children from the age of kindergarten to pre-university
[86:36]levels there are 1,000 places in this school this children had a
[86:39]school uh for about 10 years but they didn't have a building
[86:45]so 10 children in this house 20 in that madrasa 30 children
[86:48]in the imamar five children in the basement and they're scattered all
[86:52]over Naf we built this school and uh we it's in it's
[87:00]a state-of-the-art building and the children are mostly Children of the who
[87:03]study in the na who are financially challenged and the school has
[87:09]got state-ofthe-art science Laboratories and also it Laboratories and many other facilities
[87:16]in fact because of these facilities for the first time two of
[87:20]our girls are now admitted in the University of Islamabad to study
[87:25]medicine besides the school we have done other work in Iraq as
[87:31]well we were asked by the Haram of ab fasam to provide
[87:37]them water dispensers which we did U at the bottom to you
[87:44]can see a husia picture where families are sleeping rough on the
[87:48]carpet these are poor zaar who come to carala for 5 10
[87:51]days they cannot afford to stay in hotel so they take shelter
[87:59]in thisas very primitive very difficult conditions but and they live they
[88:03]are there for there with their families but the water is not
[88:07]fit for human consumption so we installed in over a 100as water
[88:12]dispensers which now gives them on tap clean pure chilled water or
[88:16]hot water if they want and there is a built-in fridge at
[88:20]the bottom where mothers can keep milk fresh for their little babies
[88:25]and and now alhamdulillah there is a considerable reduction in urine and
[88:31]blood infection and stomach troubles among the Z Zar over there and
[88:37]not just uh uh in the small areas but recently we installed
[88:44]a water purification plant in musab at the holy Shrine of the
[88:49]sons of Muslim Akil today if you go and inshallah I pray
[88:53]to Allah subh that you all have an opportunity for this and
[88:57]all the zarat in carala inshallah when you go there you can
[89:01]use any one of the 40 Taps and you will get Pure
[89:05]Clean drinking water and chilled water and we spent this money to
[89:08]make sure that people get good support and our water projects are
[89:16]not just in the Holy shrines in Iraq India and Pakistan we
[89:19]have small and large such plants so that the communities can have
[89:23]access to clean people your water and talking about Pakistan we've been
[89:27]there for the last 2 years after the devastating floods of 2022
[89:33]when 40% of Pakistan was underwater for up from 6 to 8
[89:37]months 3 million homes were destroyed 33 million people became homeless and
[89:44]so many lives were lost this is a widow her husband drowned
[89:47]trying to save the cattle which was their livelihood so we are
[89:50]supporting her and her four children we built her a house and
[89:55]many other facilities and among out of all of Pakistan Sy region
[89:59]was the worst affected and it has got the largest population of
[90:05]sh and S when we got there we saw people living in
[90:09]tents people in living in in just makeshift homes and so many
[90:17]families living under trees and even today there are so many families
[90:21]still living under trees well for 750b we can build them a
[90:27]beautiful house beautiful by their standard which you can see and a
[90:31]whole family homeless family can be rehouse there and that's what we
[90:34]do over there and so far we have Built 3,700 Homes over
[90:40]there water is again an precious commodity we have built 1200 Water
[90:48]Pump Wells each one costing 55b we bore the hole right the
[90:51]way between 50 to 60 feet down get clean water out and
[90:57]make sure that one or two of these pumps can suffice the
[91:00]whole village comfortably and these are very remote Villages nobody wants to
[91:07]go and help there we have built it says 42 mosques but
[91:11]that's not a correct figure it stands now at 49 we have
[91:17]built 49 mosques beautiful mosques and each mosque cost only £5,500 and
[91:23]it's a complete ready to use use mosque and whether it's a
[91:27]mosque whether it's a water pump or House people ask us how
[91:30]can you keep the cost so low and so reasonable but the
[91:35]answer is we do not subcontract anybody we do not employ outside
[91:40]we have trained our own team of Builders we do all the
[91:46]purchasing ourselves we do all the transportation so absolute cost is gap
[91:50]down cost is to the minimum and this is what it costs
[91:55]us and this is what we charge besides that we distribute food
[91:59]Parcels rice grain blankets warm clothing footwear wheelchairs mosquito Nets these people
[92:07]have nothing everything they had was just got just swept away they
[92:10]may have a little small suitcase with some things they may have
[92:13]salvaged here and there besides that they have nothing some of them
[92:20]did not even have clothes proper clothes to wear and they're in
[92:23]a desperate situation and I keep reminding people these are brothers and
[92:27]sisters and again so many of them are sadad when you go
[92:35]to these V remote Villages and they are very difficult to get
[92:38]to there is no infrastructure there are no roads there's nothing no
[92:41]electricity no running water absolutely nothing when you go there and you
[92:48]meet our brothers you know they don't know how to they they
[92:54]our Shia Brothers they don't know how to do Wu they don't
[92:58]know how to do namas they don't know anything about all the
[93:01]different types of hles we teach them diat we teach them we
[93:05]have done 300 education sessions with them our Alim spend a whole
[93:11]day a whole week or a whole month if necessary teaching children
[93:15]men and women all the principles of Islam 17700 a b awareness
[93:21]mes M Hussein when we first went there so many did not
[93:29]know who Imam Hussein alisam was who M Ali was baby Fatima
[93:36]b z up that no concept no idea women when they came
[93:39]to our first M husin they came in colorful clothes they did
[93:44]not know what a MAA Hussein was we educated them explained to
[93:48]them what happened in kalala on the day of Ashura and before
[93:51]and after later on in the remaining medes women begin to start
[93:57]to wear black without any prompting because they realize now these are
[94:01]the people we try and help again with the support we get
[94:04]from the community in Mah Raman we we've spent two Mah Raman
[94:10]there so far and we have provided we have served 68,000 full
[94:15]Mill ifar to them Maman or no mahaman sometimes this is the
[94:24]only meal per day they get inshallah this Mah Ramadan will be
[94:27]our third one we want to reach the 100,000 figure of serving
[94:34]ifar and we give a very good ifar and alhamdulillah they go
[94:39]home very satisfied so many people are strong able but there are
[94:44]no opportunities there so what we do we train them and and
[94:48]we start their own businesses for them in different things whatever it
[94:52]is and it costs 100 to set up a business and we
[94:58]monitor it we guide them we support them right the way through
[95:01]there are occasional OD failures but overall out of every 10 six
[95:05]continue and do well I started with the school so I'll finish
[95:11]with the school CH we cannot build a big structure like the
[95:17]one we built in najaf over here for 500 or 1,000 children
[95:20]these are the children who at the moment have no school they
[95:23]they don't even know what happens in the school the concept the
[95:28]discipline the responsibility but they love education they want to learn they're
[95:33]learning under trees in the open air because they don't have a
[95:35]school building so we build a school for them one teacher School
[95:38]costs only 1500 like this one on the right you see and
[95:45]two teacher schools is £2,750 of the one below that and children
[95:50]get discipline the the love for education and when they ready we
[95:57]then move them to an ordinary primary or a secondary school but
[96:00]these are mixed age school at the moment and how do we
[96:05]do all this people tell people who tell people who tell people
[96:08]I go and talk we all go and speak to people word
[96:15]spreads people give us people give us money IM General donations and
[96:18]we use it to help these people in syn where we operate
[96:23]tonight every night 76,000 children sleep hungry 76,000 children will have no
[96:34]food tonight right but that is the life we can only help
[96:40]so many on the support and fun we get as I said
[96:41]I'm not here to raise awareness but please tell people about us
[96:48]please look at this information which you will get at the end
[96:53]it has a number join our WhatsApp group we will update you
[96:56]of all the news you forward it to your friends in America
[97:01]Canada in London in Europe anywhere you have so that people know
[97:04]about us and we can help more and more people we are
