[28:55]we will now have the muchness which will be delivered by shaykh
[29:00]can i please ask that we welcome him all with the loud
[29:11]so [Applause] [Music] [Music] we alhamdulillah have now completed the sixth month
[30:28]in the islamic calendar the month of jama and with the commencement
[30:34]of the seventh month that is the month of rajab we will
[30:37]have completed the first half of the islamic year 1442 after hijra
[30:44]let us take this moment mumineen to emulate a tradition by beloved
[30:53]on the sighting of the crescent for the month of rajab to
[30:58]recite this dua therefore i will recite the dua and ask you
[31:02]to kindly join me for this first night of rajab bismillah allah
[31:15]saw is taught to us by our beloved prophet we are asking
[31:53]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to bless us in month of rajab and
[31:56]shaaban and make us reach the month of ramadan we ask allah
[32:03]to help us in these months with fasting standing for prayers and
[32:08]guarding our tongue in other words being careful in our speech we
[32:13]ask allah for help in casting down our gaze with modesty and
[32:18]while we observe fast we ask allah to not make our only
[32:23]share in this fasting to be only the experiencing of hunger with
[32:38]the commencement of the month of rajab this marks the commencement of
[32:42]a special time frame a special season just like after the cold
[32:50]spare of winter the month of spring marks the revival of growth
[32:54]the coming to life of the flowers the plants and the chirping
[32:59]of the birds likewise this month of rajab is a special season
[33:03]which can be considered to be the coming to life or the
[33:08]re-growing or the re-seeding of our enoughs of our own selves and
[33:14]we see that these are the moments as we saw in the
[33:17]as mentioned in the dua the month of rajab the season enabling
[33:24]us to be able to move into the journey of seeking closeness
[33:29]and the pleasure the reliable of allah in this month of rajab
[33:38]there are limitless opportunities which have been availed for us by the
[33:42]rashma of allah subhana wa as can be seen from the hadith
[33:47]of a beloved prophet where he says in rajabashi know that certainly
[33:52]rajab is a month of great marriage to allah it is one
[34:02]which is unmatched by any of the other months in what way
[34:07]the prophet explains it is a month which is in no way
[34:15]matching to the other months in respect of its harma in respect
[34:21]of its sacredness were fallen and in respect of its excellence of
[34:26]the month of rajab and in another instance the prophet says were
[34:31]you summer rajabul asab is a word in arabic which is to
[34:36]convey the meaning of something which pours in abundance something which gushes
[34:42]forth the effusion so the narration tells us that this month the
[34:47]seventh month of the islamic calendar is called raja because it is
[34:52]this month rajab will assault the month which is pouring um because
[35:02]it is during this month that the rahma that is the divine
[35:08]mercy of allah subhanahu wa allah pours in quantity in abundance allah
[35:14]almighty upon my ummah is mentioned by awillah prophet sallallahu alaihi so
[35:21]meaning there have been numerous various recommendations of and these to be
[35:29]performed in the month of rajab shah ban in preparation for the
[35:34]month of ramadan and when we see that the one of the
[35:38]highly recommended days to be performed in the month of rajab is
[35:42]the fasting during the month of rajab for the hadith of a
[35:48]beloved prophet tells us that rajab is the name of a river
[35:50]in jannah whose color is whiter than milk and whose taste is
[36:01]sweeter than honey one who fast for a day during this month
[36:04]of rajab will be quenched from this river rajab this itself is
[36:13]an opportunity for us to strive at least to observe as much
[36:18]as possible the fasting during this month of araja and the various
[36:22]have been mentioned which i will not elaborate further over here but
[36:28]we have various applications of the tasbih the vehicle the tahlil the
[36:34]seeking office the increasing of s therefore meaning one never knows if
[36:48]anyone would have anybody left behind for us to be able to
[36:54]gift us after our death we have been blessed with this gift
[36:59]of life in these moments grab this opportunity to do whatever goodness
[37:05]whatever kindness whatever charity whatever ibadah the aamal we can do to
[37:10]come closer to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala dispatch these by ourselves to
[37:17]bring about comfort and ease in our next life in the aaah
[37:21]as we observe this month of rajab let us endeavour in performing
[37:28]the best of the month especially in making prayers to allah with
[37:34]the was for protection of all people against these pandemic situation which
[37:49]you are undergoing praying to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to grant ease
[37:54]for those who are struggling as a result of the effects of
[37:59]the pandemic to grant shifa to those who are unwell to grant
[38:02]mukhphira for all those who have passed away during these unprecedented times
[38:07]and make special dua for the family members of those bereaved family
[38:13]members who are going through rivals different times difficult times during these
[38:19]moments in mourning upon the lost beloved ones let us recite suratul
[38:22]fatiha for the sawab of all muruhumeen and for the arwah of
[38:28]all subhada of islam al-fatiha foreign to commemorate the auspicious occasion of
[39:01]the village of the one who is our fifth imam muhammad related
[39:11]to this imam we see that this imam is the first of
[39:16]the imam who has the name similar to the name of our
[39:22]beloved prophet the name muhammad and this is the imam who is
[39:26]our fifth imam from the chain of the divinely appointed and this
[39:33]is the imam who is the seventh imam from the chain of
[39:39]all the mas14 masu means from the so in this statement which
[39:46]i have said the first imam with the name of our beloved
[39:51]prophet muhammad the fifth of our imams and the seventh of the
[39:56]assuming from the fourteen must mean of the beta you must have
[40:02]heard three different types of numbers one five and seven these three
[40:10]numbers are very good tips to be able to remember the birth
[40:14]death of our imam muhammad al-baqr al-islam in what way the imam
[40:20]was born on one the first of rajab he was born on
[40:25]the first of rajab he is the fifth imam and rajab is
[40:32]the seventh month so therefore it's easy to know first of rajab
[40:35]that is the seventh month and place the two letters five and
[40:40]seven together will form the numeral 57 which is the year in
[40:46]which the imam was born so our fifth imam muhammad al-baqr al-islam
[40:51]was born on the first of rajab the seventh month in islamic
[40:58]calendar in the year 57 after hijra the imam has a unique
[41:03]lineage unique in the sense that from the sign of both his
[41:06]grandparents the maternal grandparent and the paternal grandparent both of them were
[41:12]imams the maternal grandparent is the third imam ali abdullah who is
[41:21]the grandpa who is an imam and on the maternal side the
[41:27]imam's mother imam muhammad al-barter's mother is known as fatima who is
[41:32]the daughter of our second imam hasan alayhi salaam so the grandfather
[41:35]on both sides are imams alissa and this is a unique lineage
[41:40]which this imam enjoys in the chain of those 12 imams of
[41:50]bethlehem in this list very briefly i would just like to highlight
[41:56]as an introduction amongst the various roles which the imam carried out
[42:00]in his lifetime in discharging the office of imam i would just
[42:05]like to mention two points which he carried out in his office
[42:10]of discharging the role of imam the first role which is a
[42:14]very significant role which the imam played the fifth imam played is
[42:18]that he was a living witness to the tragedy of karbala which
[42:22]unfolded on the day of ashura in the year 61 after hitler
[42:26]not only was he was a witness but he was a victim
[42:31]of all the atrocities which took place on the day of rashuna
[42:34]and all the events which unfolded after there of ashura the caravan
[42:41]of captives marched from karbala to kufa to sham and thereafter he
[42:45]witnessed the witness events all the way till after release they returned
[42:48]back to madira as a result of that one important role which
[42:55]the fifth imam performed during his lifetime was that he was the
[43:01]living media of keeping alive the message of imam usa in conveying
[43:08]to the people the actual mission the ethos and the values for
[43:12]which imam islam and the shahada of karbala had sacrificed their lives
[43:17]for which all these tragic sacrifices had taken place and he promoted
[43:22]and encouraged the recounting of the events through rewarding and encouraging the
[43:27]recitation of the poems what you would say is the marthia and
[43:31]the ma'atam in today's language and he also established and gave out
[43:37]recommendations of the narrative of the various recitations to be performed when
[43:42]we go for ziara the second rule which the imam played is
[43:49]in the training of scholars the imam was now during this critical
[43:54]junction where the leaving where the authorities ruling authorities of the umayyad
[44:00]dynasty was now facing a lot of opposition and this gave an
[44:06]opportunity to the fifth imam to be able to utilize the time
[44:13]and concentrate in the training of scholars and this was the time
[44:16]when he set up and encouraged the recording of the hadith the
[44:21]traditions from the alameda and there was a lot of input towards
[44:26]the training of scholars such that the unique science of the science
[44:31]or the discipline of being able to extract rulings from the original
[44:36]sources of the quran was formally established or started being set up
[44:42]into involvement during the time of the fifth imam alayhi so having
[44:47]said about these two main roles or among the many roles which
[44:53]the imam played in his office of imam today in sha allah
[44:57]i would like to share a hadith from our fifth imam so
[45:00]that we may be able to derive benefit in this night of
[45:04]celebrating the village of the fifth imam alayhis to set that context
[45:18]for introducing the hadith which i have selected from the various traditions
[45:26]over 50 muhammad al-baqarah i would like to pose a question a
[45:30]question which is a common one which is generically asked upon from
[45:35]people based on the different type of context they are placed in
[45:40]and in this question we have two phrases which are commonly used
[45:47]in different types of context what are these two phrases these phrases
[45:51]are worth two characteristics so in the context of for example the
[45:58]employment application one who is applying will always look to the question
[46:07]as to what are the two characteristics which an employer is looking
[46:13]for in an employee in order to be able to draft an
[46:17]application which you will be able to convince that employer that he
[46:22]or she is meeting those characteristics which you require or in the
[46:28]context of education a question can be asked as to what are
[46:35]the two qualities of a very good teacher or another question can
[46:40]be asked what are the two characteristics can that can lead towards
[46:45]becoming a successful student so you see these three phrases what are
[46:50]the two characteristics of very common building blocks in a question which
[46:58]can unfold and prepare a person towards development so having set this
[47:06]context i would now like to use this hadith in before i
[47:11]entered use this question or the building blocks of the question before
[47:15]i introduced the hadith the question which i would like to ask
[47:19]is that what are two characteristics which are expected from us by
[47:26]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to be his best creations in other words
[47:35]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala after having created us as the khalifa on
[47:40]the earth that allah has placed us as his representatives as the
[47:47]wise terrorists of allah on this earth then what are the two
[47:51]characteristics which are expected from us as the khalif of allah subhanahu
[47:56]wa'ta'ala on this earth so give a moment and think think of
[48:01]any two words which come to your mind which you feel would
[48:07]be those outstanding characteristics required upon the caliph of allah if you
[48:17]give a thought you will see that there are so many words
[48:20]which come to our mind so for example we'll have a thought
[48:26]a characteristic of becoming god conscious kind charitable worshipful humble truthful honest
[48:37]in service being helpful grateful of course and so many other qualities
[48:46]will come to our mind all these characteristics will respond to the
[48:52]question as to what is expecting of a khalif of allah subhana
[48:57]wa on this occasion of the village having set this block of
[49:08]the question of what are the two characteristics which are required of
[49:15]a caliph of a human on this earth i will now share
[49:18]with you that hadith which responds to this question the hadith not
[49:25]only gives us the two qualities which are required for a person
[49:31]by allah but it also explains as to what is the effect
[49:36]of each and one every one of this quality on the one
[49:41]who brings about into bringing this quality in him so listen to
[49:49]the hadith our fifth imam alayhi salam says i swear by allah
[49:58]by [Music] by allah indeed allah the most elevated does not desire
[50:12]from the people except for two qualities then the imam continues to
[50:22]name these two qualities and as i mentioned not only does he
[50:27]name these two qualities but he also indicates as to what is
[50:31]going to be the impact of one who develops these qualities upon
[50:36]themselves tonight insha allah in this month list within the time i
[50:42]will insha allah try to dwell upon only the first of these
[50:49]two qualities which are the response given to us as to what
[50:52]are the two qualities expected from one who is the caliph of
[50:58]allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala on this earth so the hadith of the imam
[51:02]where he says by allah indeed allah the elevator desires not from
[51:09]the people except for two qualities then he list the first quality
[51:14]things and yokirola he explains that the first quality which allah subhanahu
[51:24]wa allah desires from the people of the two qualities is that
[51:30]that is he continuously repeatedly appreciates to him and nam the bounties
[51:41]which allah has given him so how does one go about in
[51:51]appreciating the bounties of course the first step in being able to
[51:57]appreciate the bounties is first to be able to identify as to
[52:03]what are these bounties and the stage or this or the place
[52:10]where one commences from identifying what are the bounties is from none
[52:16]other than one's own self from one's own creation so if you
[52:21]want to just close our eyes and we start recalling the bounties
[52:28]the first bounty which comes to our mind is in that darkness
[52:30]as we close our eyes is the bounty of sight this bounty
[52:34]of eyes and then as we look at each other and participate
[52:38]in the smugglers other bounty which come to our eye to our
[52:42]mind is the bounty of the ears speech listening the bounty of
[52:47]the tongue for me to be able to recite and speak to
[52:50]you and for you to be able to recite the salawat and
[52:55]praise the lord the bounty of the tongue with which we taste
[53:00]our food the bounty of the lips with which we are able
[53:08]to express our speech the bounty of the nose with which we
[53:13]are able to enjoy the freshness of the various fragrances and talk
[53:19]about the brain the bounty with which we are able to cognite
[53:22]the intellect and differentiate ourselves from all the other look the creations
[53:30]of allah subhana and if you are to still go further the
[53:35]various systems the digestive system the nervous system the respiratory system and
[53:42]then we look within our within our relationship that we are today
[53:47]as a result of the bounty of our parents who have been
[53:49]able to bring us to what we are the family the brothers
[53:54]the sisters the children the spouse the husband the wife the community
[54:01]the family the community within itself and today we can really appreciate
[54:06]not only the community but the sense of belonging to the community
[54:11]the sense of belonging to the jamaat the bounty of the beautiful
[54:17]beautiful grounds of al-mahdi which we enjoy all these are the different
[54:26]bounties which allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala are giving us and the list is
[54:28]endless numerous and we can see that when he is recalling in
[54:41]the first khutbah with regards to the creation of the animals and
[54:46]the birds the earth the sky he says alhamdulillah is due to
[54:59]allah whose worth can not be described by the speakers [Music] and
[55:09]praise is to allah whose bounties can not be enumerated cannot be
[55:16]counted by the people who count or they be computed by the
[55:21]calculators in the computers it is indeed abundance for us this itself
[55:29]in a closing acknowledging that these bounties are numerous in abundance and
[55:35]that we cannot be able to enumerate to list down to count
[55:40]or calculate or compute the bounties this itself is being able to
[55:51]appreciate and recall all the bounties from allah and then it makes
[55:55]us remember that these bounties did not give to us to allah
[56:01]by accident rather that there is a purpose for it and then
[56:06]when one starts appreciating these bounties and he acknowledges that i am
[56:13]unable i am overwhelmed by all these wonderful bounties he becomes grateful
[56:19]and then he shows that sugar and thankfulness to allah and then
[56:25]when they continue identifying acknowledging and appreciating all the bounties just to
[56:33]mention if one want to go into sajdah close the eyes in
[56:36]that still of the moments and start recalling all those bounties a
[56:42]moment will come and try it out you will notice that our
[56:46]mood will change instead of now being one who has got a
[56:50]low mood and one who becomes feel sad the heart and the
[56:56]mind will now become filled with joy as we start recalling the
[57:03]bounties of the creation the eyes the faculties of speech the brain
[57:05]the family the community and the factor of being a human being
[57:12]by itself we start appreciating acknowledging sugar and then we become full
[57:19]of joy why because of all these we become very grateful and
[57:24]say masha allah i am indeed been chosen been given with all
[57:28]this great food and such a powerful feeling falls into that person
[57:34]who acknowledges who starts enumerating all this from allah that psychologically this
[57:42]has been proved and there is evidence in the psychological studies that
[57:46]a result of that appreciation as a result of that gratitude what
[57:51]happens is that he promotes or they promote the feeling good enzymes
[57:57]become increased in the body and as a result of that in
[58:03]that feeling good enzymes increasing or hormones feeling good hormones increasing in
[58:09]one's body what happens is that it promotes the well-being it promotes
[58:17]the mental good mental health so mean something which we take it
[58:26]very rightly that sahaja yoga is one which allah has given us
[58:33]a magic formula to be able to increase those good feeling hormones
[58:40]in us in actually showing that gratefulness and this is one when
[58:45]we will utilize it as a great weapon to get us through
[58:48]the other side of the corner of this epidemic this is a
[58:53]great tip for building on our mental well-being for making ourselves hell
[59:01]that welding of our whole body as such by acknowledging that bounties
[59:05]accumulating that boundaries and then as we appreciate we become grateful for
[59:11]that and the reaction for that is that we start feeling good
[59:14]and as we start feeling good it builds into us that well-being
[59:18]and that resilience in the body's structure builds up for us therefore
[59:28]meaning certainly when imam muhammad al-baqarah [Music] that by allah the exalted
[59:45]allah does not desire from the people except for two qualities and
[59:54]that is he repeatedly appreciates he increases in recognizing and appreciates the
[60:04]bounties which allah has given us so this is one of the
[60:10]first one of the two great characteristics which is expected from a
[60:18]human being who has been created by allah to be the khalif
[60:25]of allah on this earth and then as i mentioned the imam
[60:31]not only lists the qualities which is expected for one to have
[60:39]into him but he also explains it to what is going to
[60:41]be the impact of a person who carries out this first action
[60:46]so the first action or the first characteristic in us all human
[60:52]beings is to be able and um to repeatedly acknowledge appreciate the
[60:58]abundant full of bounties of allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala upon us and then
[61:04]the imam says the effect of doing this is faizi the home
[61:09]the effect of doing this is that allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala is going
[61:16]to give us that increase of this narama into us subhanallah it
[61:25]is indeed mind baffling that here allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is expecting
[61:33]from us to have this wonderful quality into us and then as
[61:37]a result of us having this quality into us of appreciating and
[61:43]acknowledging and being gratefulness to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for the dharma
[61:49]upon us the impact of having that quality in us is going
[61:52]to be that those very same qualities which we are appreciating and
[61:55]acknowledging foreign it is a compounded circle where we are told that
[62:03]as a result of that in developing that quality into us for
[62:09]azir whom allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala is going to give us increase into
[62:12]those very small into us therefore benim this simple statement of subhanallah
[62:24]that glory be to allah allah is free from all defects for
[62:30]he has given us all this nama and these bounties this simple
[62:35]zikr of masha allah of that happiness that indeed this is what
[62:41]allah wills upon us this simple statement of sukuranlillah i am grateful
[62:50]to allah alhamdulillah i am indeed saying that praise be to allah
[62:54]this itself is not just a leap service but when said within
[63:03]the deepness of the depth of our self itself and then and
[63:06]the heart itself now with that understanding that i am indeed grateful
[63:12]to our to allah the effect of that is that allah subhanahu
[63:17]wa ta'ala is going to give us for yazida whom increasing that
[63:23]not only is he going to give us that increases in nama
[63:27]but as we see that feeling which it arouses into us that
[63:32]spiritual feeling that mental well-being which comes into our body is going
[63:37]to give us that strength and resilience to be able to go
[63:41]further and meet the challenges in this temporal world which is the
[63:44]dunya the mortal life of this world as such therefore month of
