[0:02]Rahim [Music] I begin in the name of the almighty God the

[0:25]compassionate the merciful the one who has created everything and utmost perfection

[0:33]and May the peace and blessings of the almighty God be upon

[0:37]his pure and beloved messenger the peak of his creation the symbol

[0:44]of humanity the holy prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi and his Immaculate progeny

[0:57]of the peace be upon them especially the leader of our time

[1:00]the awaited Savior may Allah haste in his reappearance and make us

[1:11]all amongst a sincere and dedicated servants respected brothers and sisters I

[1:24]sincerely extend my condolences to you all on this tragic night the

[1:32]night of the strike of the commander of the faithful foreign and

[1:48]to illuminate our hearts and Minds with the light and the wisdom

[1:54]of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala states in the Holy Quran in Surah

[2:01]the second chapter of the Holy Quran verse 26.

[2:11]foreign [Music] illuminate your hearts and Minds with a very loud salawat

[2:47]Allah guys is the source of knowledge the spring of wisdom if

[3:00]you take a look at which is a collection of his sayings

[3:06]and writings you find that delivers to us knowledge in every field

[3:12]that you can think of when it comes to spirituality and connecting

[3:17]with our Lord the Imam Ali salaam gives us the best advice

[3:23]when it comes to preparing for the Imam al-islam gives us beautiful

[3:30]advice in one sentence in one sentence in one of the shortest

[3:37]speeches that are recorded in States you see that the target is

[3:46]before you you know where you're going the day of judgment we're

[3:49]all going there and then the Imam Ali salaam tells us the

[3:53]vehicle that's taking you to that Target is what foreign it's the

[4:37]of the Holy Quran when it comes to psychology sociology Politics the

[4:45]economy gives us gems throughout now there is one interesting sermon in

[4:51]which the Imam alaihissalam at a first glance seems to highlight something

[4:58]very insignificant something very small something that's worthless in our eyes that

[5:04]sermon 185 in many versions of in sermon 185 the Imam alaihissalam

[5:12]describes the ant and name now some people may wonder is a

[5:20]serious leader he's the source of knowledge he is the gate to

[5:25]the city of knowledge is it really important for him to talk

[5:28]about the ant and describe the ant when the ant is a

[5:33]very insignificant insect in our Lives why is that even important why

[5:36]does the commander of the faithful dedicate time to describing this small

[5:40]creature anyone who has this objection Allah answers you in the Quran

[5:47]where has Allah answered to this objection in the Quran verse 26.

[5:56]the pagans and the non-believers made an issue about some verses in

[6:04]the Quran they came and they started to attack the Quran by

[6:08]saying this book this Quran that is supposedly from God seems to

[6:15]talk about insignificant things it talks about the spider and the web

[6:20]of the spider it talks about insignificant things why would God do

[6:25]that they were trying to belittle the Holy Quran Allah responds to

[6:31]them in Surat al-baqarah verse 26 Allah is not ashamed to give

[6:41]you the example of what Allah is not ashamed to give you

[6:50]the example of even a mosquito literally means and that which is

[6:56]above it now what does above it mean the common tafsir is

[7:02]that that which is smaller than it above it means smaller in

[7:08]size that's one tough seal another tafsir that some have discovered in

[7:15]our era today is that there is a parasite that lives on

[7:19]top of the mosquito in the past it was impossible to know

[7:24]that to see that people did not have the tools to look

[7:28]at a mosquito to know that there is another creature living on

[7:34]its back but today with our microscopes and modern technology we can

[7:41]see that not just a mosquito even that small creature on top

[7:45]of the mosquito Allah is not ashamed to give you that example

[7:52]the Believers they say yes Allah is giving us relevant examples it's

[8:00]truth he's teaching us something but the disbelievers what do they say

[8:07]why does God gives us give us such examples mosquito spider what's

[8:14]so significant about these creatures Allah is trying you some are guided

[8:22]and some are misguided now why does Allah give the example of

[8:26]a mosquito in the Holy Quran or even the fly Allah in

[8:29]another verse says if you all human beings and Jinn everyone all

[8:38]creation come together to create a fly you cannot you don't have

[8:43]that capacity why does Allah give us the example of a mosquito

[8:46]and Imam answers us he says Allah gives the example of a

[8:53]mosquito in the Holy Quran because the mosquito has all the body

[8:58]parts of an elephant and even looks like an elephant and it

[9:04]even has two more body parts you know how the elephant has

[9:09]a trunk the mosquito also has a trunk and it is through

[9:11]this trunk that it comes and stings you and bites you and

[9:15]sucks your blood the Imam Ali Salam is teaching us look this

[9:19]small little creature that you can barely see it has all the

[9:25]functions that an elephant has but it's so small look at the

[9:31]Atma of Allah look at the greatness of the creation of your

[9:33]lord Allah will give you an example like that to demonstrate to

[9:36]you you have a Creator there is a system that's the beauty

[9:40]of these quranic principles subhanallah when you look at these insects it's

[9:45]truly fascinating if anyone is saying I have doubts about the existence

[9:48]of God look at these little creatures you know when the mosquito

[9:55]flies how fast does it flap its wings 1 000 times per

[10:05]second I personally cannot comprehend that for us a second is a

[10:12]second how something can move a thousand times in one second is

[10:16]beyond my mental capacity to visualize it not per minute per second

[10:21]in a creature that's so small like that how did it gain

[10:26]this capacity Allah says I will give you this example and I'm

[10:30]not ashamed to give you such an example and Allah so the

[10:37]Quran gives us the answer these are signs that bring you to

[10:43]Allah hence We Are commemorating Tonight one of his sermons 185 is

[10:48]about describing the ant this creature that seems so insignificant to us

[10:54]let us go through the description of Emirates of the ant and

[11:00]then let's draw the lesson why does the Imam share that with

[11:02]us there are very important lessons in that listen to the power

[11:07]of the words of Amir he States um oh people look at

[11:20]the sign of Allah look at the smallness of the ant you

[11:26]see how it has such a tiny body and it has such

[11:27]a delicate form foreign you cannot see it properly with your eyes

[11:38]we can see the ants moving but can you fully see all

[11:43]of its body parts can you see its eyes its head its

[11:48]legs we cannot see it with the naked eye clearly basically the

[11:51]alarm says you can barely see this ant but you know that

[11:57]this ant has a world of its own do you not see

[12:04]how it moves around the earth and it leaps towards its lizard

[12:07]its livelihood have you examined how the world of ants functions it

[12:15]goes and brings the seed the grain to its whole to protect

[12:21]it It prepares it in a safe place what kind of power

[12:33]your words have the Imam says during the heat meaning summer it

[12:37]gathers for the cold meaning winter because the winter climate is harsh

[12:46]in many places and so the ant is not able to go

[12:47]and search for food I mean imagine here in the winter where

[12:52]it's constantly snowing it cannot find grains so what does the ant

[12:57]do the ant it goes and takes those grains during the summer

[13:01]during the good months it stores it in storages under the ground

[13:05]now you know what's really fascinating and miraculous about that a lot

[13:10]of ants don't live long you know the male ant lives for

[13:16]a week the queen ant the female one lives for years but

[13:19]the male only for a week alhamdulillah from this Dunya and from

[13:26]dealing with women so good but they live for a week the

[13:28]male ant now you know what's fascinating there are ants who work

[13:34]in the summer to collect the seeds they will never see winter

[13:37]nor have they ever experienced the winter but they know what to

[13:40]do show me isn't that proof of the existence of Allah where

[13:45]did it get that Knowledge from it has never seen winter in

[13:47]its life it only lives for weeks but it knows exactly what

[13:52]to do let me store the food now says look at this

[13:58]small tiny little beautiful creature it knows what to do appreciate the

[14:03]Adama of Allah when it's capable it goes and brings the food

[14:11]because it knows there will be times when it is not capable

[14:14]then the Imam Ali salaam States the Imam says the sustenance of

[14:33]the ant is guaranteed Allah has delivered to its sustenance even if

[14:37]the ant is inside a rock Allah will deliver to it its

[14:41]sustenance look at the signs of Allah and truly ants are fascinating

[14:48]creatures my dear brothers and sisters read about the ant your Imam

[14:51]whom you're commemorating speaks about it it's important it's one of the

[14:54]especially sisters I know in your house and Kitchen gets infested with

[15:00]ants the first thing you want to do is eliminate them and

[15:02]kill them but they are amazing creatures of Allah today there are

[15:09]more than 12 000 species of ants can you imagine 12 000

[15:16]types of ants billions of ants out there but 12 000 types

[15:19]and the Ants are one of the strongest animals compared to their

[15:25]body size there is an ant called the Trap jaw ant when

[15:31]it closes its jaw do you know at what speed it it

[15:36]has the capacity to close its jaw 140 miles an hour small

[15:43]little creature that big and the Ant is so flexible it can

[15:49]live in a mountain in a valley inside your house outside under

[15:52]the ground in summer in Winter it can live in all conditions

[15:55]it can walk on all terrains on the carpet it can walk

[16:00]on the sand it can walk on the street it can walk

[16:04]on grass on trees it can climb the wall it can walk

[16:05]on the ceiling there's no place that this ant cannot go to

[16:10]subhanallah all this small little body isn't that amazing and you know

[16:17]they have networks and cities underground I invite you to see a

[16:20]documentary about ants they have an entire world underground that they communicate

[16:26]and they speak to one another they have their own ant language

[16:28]that recently scientists have decoded in the past people were like how

[16:35]does the Quran says it tells us about the story of prophet

[16:38]Sulaiman speaking to the ant we don't hear the ants talking no

[16:44]they have their own language it's fascinating and the Ants are one

[16:49]of those animals who even Farm you know how we have we

[16:51]farm animals we have domesticated animals and to do that as well

[16:58]they do that with aphids because the Avid secrete honeydew they actually

[17:03]bring the aphids and they shelter them in their own homes to

[17:07]protect them from bad weather and from predators so they can take

[17:11]advantage of their honeydew look at the capacity this little creature has

[17:18]you want more signs of the existence of Allah subhanahu ta'ala who

[17:23]inspired it and gave it that knowledge to know what it what

[17:26]to do and then the Imam Ali salaam begins to further describe

[17:30]its body in that last paragraph he says you know you human

[17:37]being have an esophagus you have a stomach you have intestines where

[17:41]do all these organs fit in an ant the Imam says if

[17:47]you were to think about the Digestive tracts in an ant fear

[17:53]always the high parts the low parts the carapace of its belly

[18:03]if you think of all that this small little help that looks

[18:10]like a DOT it has the capacity to see and the capacity

[18:15]to hear by the way this is one of the Miracles historically

[18:19]scientists thought ants could not hear ants don't have ears by the

[18:26]way unlike other animals they do not have ears they have eyes

[18:29]but they don't have ears so for a long time scientists thought

[18:33]that ants don't have the capacity to hear but then about 30

[18:39]years ago and maybe 1993 some scientists discovered that actually ants have

[18:46]the capacity to hear not with their ears but with their legs

[18:51]under their knee they have an organ that can sense vibrations just

[18:59]like your ear senses the vibrations and that's how they communicate with

[19:03]each other they feel the vibration and that's the sound of communication

[19:08]subhanallah we human beings the tool for us to hear is this

[19:13]bone in our ear and Eminem discovered that 14th centuries ago science

[19:18]did not know that 14th centuries ago the Imam Ali salaam States

[19:23]be amazed at the son of Adam he looks he sees with

[19:30]what with fat fat most of your eyes is made of lipids

[19:35]and fat and he hears with a bone during the time of

[19:42]America people did not know that you would hear with the bone

[19:44]now we know that inside your ear there's a bone and that's

[19:49]how you hear this is if you look at the body of

[19:57]an ant and all the different parts that it has you will

[20:04]be shocked at the complexity of its body and you would not

[20:08]be able to describe it because it's so complex you would not

[20:14]be able to fully describe it you would have to go through

[20:16]difficulty to be able to describe the small creature now let's come

[20:22]to the very important point and the lesson that we want to

[20:25]draw tonight why does minion mention that why there are several reasons

[20:35]why the Iman brings our attention to a small creature like that

[20:41]one every creation every being receives their sustenance from Allah don't worry

[20:46]and panic and lose hope I know many of us when the

[20:52]economy is bad when we are thinking about our future jobs will

[20:55]I get this job will I not get this job will my

[20:59]company fire me or not we get anxiety just today just today

[21:02]a brother called me and he had anxiety about that about the

[21:08]future about my job stability many people stress over that people lose

[21:14]sleep over over that the Imam is teaching us if this small

[21:17]little creature who doesn't have your mental capacity is receiving its sustenance

[21:24]from Allah you don't think Allah will take care of you relax

[21:27]it's okay don't worry about the future Allah will take care of

[21:37]you one interesting Hadith States once there was a famine a drought

[21:42]a famine in Palestine Prophet sulaim told his companions his people let's

[21:48]go out to the desert and let's pray for rain Salat the

[21:54]prayer foreign when there's a prolonged period of drought to go and

[21:58]ask for rain so as they were going to the desert to

[22:00]do the Salah the Hadith States He Saw an Ant that caught

[22:04]his attention remember the Quran tells us that Prophet Sulaiman had the

[22:09]ability to hear the ants and he'd speak to the ants and

[22:11]Surah to them the chapter of the ant so he saw an

[22:16]ant coming and it stood on its legs and it turned to

[22:21]Allah and it said oh Allah we are your weak creatures we

[22:24]your ants are the we creatures that you have created and we

[22:31]are suffering because of the sins of people because of the sins

[22:36]of Beni Adam the animals saying that isn't this the state of

[22:42]the animals today when we're destroying the environment and causing this climate

[22:46]crisis right animals are suffering because of us oh Allah do not

[22:51]punish us because of the sins of bani Adam and send down

[22:55]the rain Prophet Sulaiman heard that Dua from the ant what did

[22:58]he say according to this Hadith he said to his people back

[23:03]up let's go let's go they told them what do you mean

[23:05]let's go we haven't done the Dua yet we haven't prayed the

[23:09]prayer for the Iranian he said this ant the way it did

[23:12]it Allah has accepted it let's go as they were going back

[23:16]the clouds came with the ring subhanallah sometimes Allah has mercy on

[23:19]you and me because of an innocent creature like an ant and

[23:24]we failed to for to to remember that so that's the first

[23:29]point that the Imam is communicating to us Allah has guaranteed the

[23:32]sustenance of every being it's okay never lose hope that's number one

[23:38]number two and this one is really important and this is the

[23:41]lesson that we want to take tonight my dear brothers and sisters

[23:46]many times in our lives we Overlook small things and what's the

[23:51]significance of an ant why did alive and create this end but

[23:54]you know it's these small things in your life that truly give

[24:01]you happiness we human beings when we're trying to look for happiness

[24:06]we always look at a macro level we're always looking for a

[24:09]huge outside factors if I get 10 million dollars I'll definitely be

[24:18]happy if I get this girl or boy in marriage I'll definitely

[24:22]be happy if I change my gender I'll be happy if I

[24:25]do this I'll be happy if I do that I'll be happy

[24:26]we're always looking for these external factors when we're thinking of Happiness

[24:32]if I have the nicest Castle I'll be happy if I become

[24:35]a minister I'll be happy we're always looking for big outside things

[24:40]to make us happy the reality is my dear brothers and sisters

[24:45]it's the small things in life that make you happy but you

[24:48]have to pay attention to them when the Imam describes an ant

[24:54]for you the Imam is teaching you insignificant things in your life

[24:58]they play a major role pay attention to them study them examine

[25:00]them learn from them be inspired by them study is psychological Studies

[25:08]have shown that one of the best path to keep yourself happy

[25:12]and not depressed is by focusing on three normal small things during

[25:17]your day that generate to you some happiness in order for you

[25:22]to be happy you don't need big things and big miracles to

[25:25]happen in your life focus on the small gifts that Allah has

[25:30]given you they're not small you think they're small focus on them

[25:33]today the weather was nice you went to the bay and you

[25:38]had a nice walk psychological steady state and our Hadith supports that

[25:42]go home that night and write it in your diary or journal

[25:48]or in your notes today I was walking with my friend with

[25:50]my spouse with my brother with my sister and it was a

[25:55]nice sunny day and we had a good time right then write

[25:59]that in your diary write that in your notes today my friend

[26:02]invited me and we had a good time today at work this

[26:06]happened at school this happened some nice things during the day today

[26:10]I saw a beautiful bird chirping and tweeting and that really caught

[26:15]my attention right that psychologists State people who write three blessings that

[26:22]they have during the day even if they're small over time they

[26:25]are much more happy than those who don't and that protects them

[26:32]from depression it protects them from anxiety it makes sure that their

[26:37]mental health is proper so these small things that you have in

[26:40]your life cherish them my dear brothers and sisters and every night

[26:43]before you sleep thank Allah Allah you've given me a house you've

[26:48]given me access to education today I had a good conversation with

[26:51]Mom with my dad with my colleague appreciate these blessings today I

[26:57]saw something nice I heard something nice appreciate that this is the

[27:02]lesson that we learned from this sermon and this is what will

[27:07]make you happy as happy people it's these things that make them

[27:10]happy other things are superficial small Gifts of life every day celebrate

[27:14]them and cherish them by thanking Allah and remembering them that's how

[27:19]you protect your mental health the third lesson that we learned from

[27:21]this sermon do not ever underestimate the power of a word even

[27:30]if it's small and and act even if it's small a deed

[27:33]even if it's small doesn't Allah tell us in the Holy Quran

[27:41]if you do and Adam's weight of a deed Good Deed you'll

[27:49]see the results and if you do an Adam's weight of a

[27:54]sin of a bad deed you'll see the result as well don't

[27:56]underestimate the power of your Deeds The Power of Words one word

[28:01]can destroy someone's life or save someone's life one word don't underestimate

[28:05]it many times we're loosed with our words we say words we

[28:09]don't care sometimes we insult people we cuss at people this word

[28:13]can change the direction of someone's life I myself heard from one

[28:18]of the great Maharaja he said that when he was young and

[28:22]he was studying hausa classes Seminary classes he said we had a

[28:26]small class with one of our teachers this is like 80 years

[28:29]ago he said we had a classmate and he was bright he

[28:33]wasn't the brightest student in class but he was okay he says

[28:38]one day he struggled to understand the class maybe he was tired

[28:42]maybe something was going on in his head so the teacher kept

[28:47]explaining it he didn't get it he said at the end the

[28:49]teacher got frustrated and he yelled at him and he told him

[28:54]you cow you know what happened you cow was two words two

[28:59]words you know what these two words did he says that student

[29:03]was the last day we saw him in hausa he left he

[29:08]was shattered he was heartbroken he left he says I don't want

[29:10]to continue this path I don't want to be a house student

[29:13]I don't want to be a scholar I don't want to be

[29:16]anything he went and he wasted his life one word one word

[29:21]who's responsible for that now maybe the teacher didn't have the intention

[29:25]he just said it but be careful sometimes a word that you

[29:30]can say can hurt someone can destroy someone's life can injure the

[29:35]heart of someone and change the future of someone and then subhanallah

[29:39]sometimes one word can save someone's life one word can motivate someone

[29:46]ask people who are motivated you'll usually find that they heard something

[29:49]from someone it's one word that changed their perspective years ago I

[29:54]was reading online about a person who struggled with depression this person

[29:59]became suicidal she says I became suicidal where I decided to end

[30:04]my life she says one day before deciding to kill myself I

[30:08]went online on a platform on this chat where you ask for

[30:15]advice or something and I said I wrote in that chat I

[30:18]really need help I'm depressed I'm suicidal she says no one bothered

[30:23]to respond accept one person you know what that person responded didn't

[30:28]give me a long paragraph hey we'll be there for you here

[30:32]are some tips this is how you get yourself out of depression

[30:34]and suicide that person just responded with one two-letter word hi she

[30:42]says the only response I got in that chat room on that

[30:47]website on that platform is high she says that high saved my

[30:54]life because when I wanted to commit suicide later that day I

[30:58]said to myself there is a human being on Earth who cares

[31:03]about me this much to say hi why should I kill myself

[31:07]see see one word one word that's why the Hadith teaches us

[31:13]that the zakat that you want to share with people is two

[31:16]types one is the material Financial zakat one is the spiritual zakat

[31:19]saying Salam to someone is zakat asking them how are you this

[31:25]is zakat making them feel good it is zakat one Hadith States

[31:28]people with disabilities because they really suffer saying something nice to them

[31:33]is a zakat that Allah will reward you for because this one

[31:36]word can save their life never underestimate the power of words in

[31:41]your life my dear brothers and sisters they have a huge impact

[31:43]don't underestimate anything small in your life this sin is small never

[31:50]underestimate sins learn from the sermon of to pay attention to these

[31:55]small things in your life they are significant All Creatures of Allah

[32:01]are significant All Creatures of God the entire creation of Allah is

[32:06]important because Allah has created this creation all of it is important

[32:10]so these are some words of advice that we truly take from

[32:14]the commander of the faithful who is truly the source of knowledge

[32:19]in all fields you want success you want science you want advice

[32:24]you want to know how to live go to Amir the commander

[32:28]of the faithful Salah this man who truly cared you know sometimes

[32:35]we help others but people just help because maybe we're trained to

[32:41]help not necessarily because we really care would care one day the

[32:47]Imam was passing by Imagine This is kufai is the Commander in

[32:54]Chief he's the leader on today's political map over 50 countries he

[32:57]passes by he sees a woman sitting on the street on the

[33:02]side of the street crying my dear brothers and sisters back then

[33:06]14 centuries ago no one cared about a woman on the street

[33:13]crying so what it's not a big deal no one would care

[33:15]so what not a big deal this was the mentality of that

[33:22]Society with all of his obligations he passes by he notices a

[33:26]woman crying a woman in my government crying I need to know

[33:33]why he approaches her yeah o servant of Allah why do you

[33:38]cry what's bothering you she tells him what's bothering me is that

[33:43]I'm a slave owned by a family I'm their maid I'm their

[33:51]servant and they set me to buy dates they gave me some

[33:52]money here's like a Dirham go by dates I bought the dates

[33:57]I brought them home my master my owner says I don't like

[34:00]them I don't like them go and return it get a refund

[34:08]I came to this owner of the dates this store owner he

[34:11]refuses he says no I'm not going to take it back and

[34:16]refund you I'm crying I don't know what to do if I

[34:18]go back home right now they'll beat me they'll punish me that's

[34:25]why I'm crying in the commander of the faithful do look at

[34:29]his Compassionate Heart he comes to the seller of the dates and

[34:35]he tells him oh servant of Allah this lady she took the

[34:40]dates to the owner and they don't like the dates I am

[34:42]asking you to please give her a refund he says no done

[34:47]deal I'm not going to give any refunds Imam says I'm asking

[34:50]you look at her State she's crying give her a refund that

[34:55]man was very arrogant you know what he does he walks to

[35:01]amirul meaning and he tells him who are you how dare you

[35:03]tell me to give her a refund and he pushes the Imam

[35:07]now he doesn't know this is a muhammadi doesn't know this is

[35:11]the Khalifa he did not know that he did not recognize the

[35:13]Imam when he pushed Imam Ali there was commotion the people came

[35:19]to him they told him did you know what you just did

[35:24]you pushed the Khalifa this is the guy began to shake please

[35:27]I apologize let me kiss your hand let me just kiss your

[35:32]feet forgive me please be satisfied with me I'll do anything the

[35:35]Imam told him do you want me to be satisfied with you

[35:39]he said yes I'll do anything oh Iman he told him I

[35:40]want you to be good with your customers be good with your

[35:46]customers I'll be satisfied with you this is the compassionate leader whom

[35:53]we are commemorating on such a night but my dear brothers and

[35:57]sisters this compassionate ruler this compassionate leader on such a night what

[36:02]happened to him in this in the city of kufa now I

[36:07]want you to take your hearts to the city of kufa on

[36:09]such a night to the night of the 19th of the month

[36:15]of Ramadan foreign in the house of one of his children one

[36:22]of his sons or daughters according to multiple reports tonight was the

[36:29]night [Music] is look at the humbleness of your Imam lady OMG

[36:45]she brings him some milk some bread and some salt that's all

[36:51]she offered him looked at her as if something is wrong she
