[0:00]team in the name of god the generous and merciful today was

[0:08]interesting day the last night and today i was gonna do a

[0:12]video of what would you do we've done it you know with

[0:15]we've done it with hajj hassanin and brother mahmoud when we do

[0:18]the clinics and i was gonna do it here but i'm just

[0:20]gonna do a few videos but mostly i'm gonna talk about my

[0:22]aunt what i've witnessed the last couple days imam ali said all

[0:28]of my sermons put together will not compare to my death when

[0:32]you witness it nothing compares to that so first of all i'd

[0:38]like to start to say what is islam if anybody asks you

[0:41]what is islam usually the answer would be it's a religion of

[0:44]peace it's a religion of submission actually the the deep definition of

[0:50]islam it's a religion of balance if you ever wanna know if

[0:54]you are someone called islamic if you're following islam it's following the

[0:59]religion of balance so for instance we are made up of two

[1:03]components so when watching my aunt i realized i said what a

[1:07]strong component that is the component of what two made up of

[1:13]is the material and the spiritual the material side some call the

[1:18]tabiyah side the animalistic side that's the side that wants us to

[1:22]eat that's the side that wants us to sleep that's the side

[1:25]that wants you to go and do certain things it's also could

[1:28]be very excessive in nature and unbalanced in nature unless your spiritual

[1:33]side comes in and balances it so the quickest way to make

[1:37]you understand that the example that i always give is an obese

[1:41]person who wakes up at 03:00 in the morning he sees wakes

[1:45]up he opens up the fridge he sees cupcakes says cupcakes he's

[1:50]about to eat a cupcake but his fitra comes in and says

[1:54]cupcake you know you just ate 22 cupcakes three hours ago you're

[1:58]eight hundred pounds stop so if he listens to that whisper and

[2:04]takes that opportunity all happened to him his life will change he'll

[2:08]lose weight maybe get a job maybe get a maybe get a

[2:12]marriage maybe other things will happen and they'll say well how did

[2:16]that all those opportunities happen oh i just put the cupcake back

[2:19]and that's allah's system allah every day gives us opportunities to take

[2:24]but it's up to our fitra to whisper in our ear and

[2:26]for us to listen to say will you take that opportunity my

[2:31]was like that she took opportunities all the time where she was

[2:36]known and i've only known this with other one other person where

[2:43]people have said noted that she's never spoke bad about anybody and

[2:46]if people would speak bad she would stop them she would never

[2:50]speak she would take the opportunities not to speak if she ever

[2:53]got angry she never raised her voice nor talked back to her

[2:56]husband she was married for over fifty plus years and the way

[3:01]her husband grieved on her side and didn't leave her side i

[3:05]said wow he appreciated it she never spoke back she never talked

[3:10]back it's an amazing woman to have you know the prophet would

[3:15]rise before his death is anybody here that i do injustice to

[3:19]anybody and eventually they all said no the only other person that

[3:23]i've met that's personally like that at an old age was her

[3:27]imagine living like that saying this person's never done wrong to me

[3:31]he's never stole from me he's never robbed from me that was

[3:34]one of the persons so islam is a religion of balance it's

[3:38]balancing the material and the spiritual even if you imbalance where you

[3:42]pray too much you recite quran too much you've tipped the scale

[3:46]even that could be too much excessive anything in excess in nature

[3:50]is not good even praying obviously other things in excess is bad

[3:56]but sometimes we have to look at the other like for instance

[3:58]i met a brother a couple weeks ago and he was having

[4:01]a problem he says i said what's the problem said i'm having

[4:03]a huge problem i said what he says every time i pray

[4:06]it takes me two and a half hours i said why says

[4:09]because when i do wudu or when i pray i always think

[4:11]i make a mistake so i have to redo it said really

[4:15]he said yeah i said but did you know the rule in

[4:17]islam says what says anytime you doubt something and you're unsure it

[4:23]counts you can't redo it you don't have to redo it nor

[4:27]can you because if you doubt that you did withu but you're

[4:30]unsure then it's as if you did withu so i'm so i

[4:33]i said apply that rules come see me in a week he

[4:36]came in a week he says you have no idea you've changed

[4:37]my life so one small piece of advice where we look at

[4:42]things one way of a perception and we have to change that

[4:44]perception so one of the ways we have to change is the

[4:47]way we look at islam as a religion of balance the other

[4:50]thing is if i say religion what does that mean if i

[4:55]say you religiously work out you religiously eat cupcakes you religiously wake

[5:00]up at 03:00 in the morning and do push ups what's the

[5:03]word you could replace religious with anybody know consistency you can if

[5:10]you wanna know what is a religious person it's not the so

[5:14]and so person that says you know i pray i fast it's

[5:17]a person that's consistent in public and private whenever i see youth

[5:22]and they say am i gonna be successful i say depends if

[5:24]you're gonna be consistent so how do you know so give me

[5:27]thirty seconds in your house so what would you determine so the

[5:31]way you speak back to your mom that would determine everything in

[5:35]your future like when i was in lifetime i was signing up

[5:39]my nephew wanted me to work up work out with him so

[5:42]i met the guy that was gonna sign me up so the

[5:46]way he shook people's hands there was inconsistency in his demeanor so

[5:51]i sat down with him it's the first time i met him

[5:53]and i said man you've gone through something big in the last

[5:56]couple months so he froze and there was no talking like imagine

[6:01]right now if i'm silent for three seconds it's very awkward so

[6:06]it became it became awkward with me so i said i'm sorry

[6:10]you know what i just came from wise i do a lot

[6:12]of counseling so and so he didn't say anything and a tear

[6:15]came down he looks at me he says who are you he

[6:19]says what do you mean he says how did you know that

[6:23]he says why he says because i was getting married and the

[6:27]woman came to me with very i won't say in the mamba

[6:30]what he told me his wife wanted to do said she devastated

[6:34]me so something that was supposed to sign up for five minutes

[6:37]we spoke for three hours and he kept texting my mom god

[6:42]has sent me something i said no god hasn't sent you something

[6:45]god sent me did the favor to me to help you he

[6:48]kept saying i've been in depression and the one comment that i

[6:53]made to him said what if you would have found out this

[6:55]really bad news about your wife after you had children what would

[6:58]you have done he said oh i said wouldn't that have hurt

[7:01]more he said yeah so look how god loves you he gave

[7:04]you that information before you got married and saved you so many

[7:07]times something gets taken away from us and we get sad where

[7:10]allah says no don't get sad those are opportunities when one door

[7:14]shuts another door opens but unfortunately it takes so long to shut

[7:18]that door behind us that's why we can't open the door in

[7:21]front of us for instance i work at a secure facility sometimes

[7:24]within the jails for to go to one door to another you

[7:28]have to behind you shut before you open the other door so

[7:32]you have to go in through one door it closes then the

[7:34]other door opens you can't enter the other door until the door

[7:38]behind you shuts that's life so many times we put a question

[7:42]mark where there should have been a period god says move on

[7:45]i closed that door for you there's a like that person who

[7:49]wakes up and there's alarm clock it's 06:00 he has to get

[7:54]up and he wakes up late at 07:30 and then when he

[7:57]and he complains oh no i'm late and then he goes to

[7:59]start his car his car won't start so he's late even more

[8:03]then he gets to work so late that he loses his job

[8:06]so the whole day he's complaining hatu yusra would never complain she

[8:11]would say alhamdulillah alhamdulillah and i'll i'll go to one of her

[8:14]stories but then when that person dies allah will show me you

[8:19]know those days that you complained about so and so of why

[8:22]you woke up late of your car not starting he says you

[8:24]wanna know why because if you would have woke up on time

[8:28]you wouldn't have lost that job and because you didn't lose that

[8:31]you would have because you lost that job another i couldn't get

[8:34]you the other job so you had to lose that job for

[8:36]something greater to happen that's one two if you would have started

[8:40]on time and the car would have started you would have car

[8:42]would have went through a red light and hit you so we

[8:45]delayed you imagine every time you get delayed or something you don't

[8:49]get right away allah and you say there's a reason i'm not

[8:54]gonna complain about it because there's a saying when you complain you

[8:58]remain hathal yusra never would complain she had bone cancer it's one

[9:04]of the most painful things that you had everybody would say when

[9:07]they meet they had no idea all she would say is how

[9:09]are doing oh praise be to allah and they've done studies with

[9:14]people who complain what it does to your mind it does the

[9:18]same effects as alzheimer's disease where you become forgetful it causes anxiety

[9:23]depression where they've scanned the brain and people who complain a lot

[9:28]and average people complain if you're having a conversation with them once

[9:32]every minute people complain she wasn't like that look at the effects

[9:37]of complaining where just like if you sit by somebody who smokes

[9:42]you get the effects of secondhand smoke they found there's such a

[9:45]thing as secondhand complaining where the effects of complaining could be that

[9:49]detrimental where they've even done scanning of the brains and they noticed

[9:53]when you complain your neurons fire and they wire together and your

[9:59]brain wasn't wired that way you wired it that way and you

[10:02]formed a habit now they said to get rid of it they

[10:05]figured out a way to get rid of it they said you

[10:07]gotta learn how to be grateful for one thing a day they

[10:10]took atheists christians muslims jews they put them and they said come

[10:14]back in six months we're gonna scan your brain a lot again

[10:18]all you have to do is think of one thing to be

[10:20]grateful for so they did the atheist probably was thankful for his

[10:24]family for his job so on so they back and they found

[10:28]it changed so their brain changed just by one habit of being

[10:33]thankful for one thing every day and not complaining so when that

[10:37]boy when i see that boy he says how do i become

[10:39]successful i said if you're inconsistent and you're constantly talking back to

[10:43]your mom you're closing the door you don't know how to move

[10:47]on your mom tells you to do a you wanna do b

[10:50]so that opportunity you're not seeing it so many times in our

[10:54]life allah will show us you know they say where are the

[10:58]most buried treasures it's in the cemetery it's not in the old

[11:03]fields it's not in the diamond fields it's in the cemetery where

[11:07]people died they lost so many opportunities because of complaining you know

[11:18]her son imagine hajj david turfi he's the judge of dearborn heights

[11:24]he went for city council he lost she told him don't worry

[11:30]don't complain there's a reason he went for city council again he

[11:34]knocked on every single door in dearborn heights hajj david he told

[11:39]me he lost like 20 pounds he walked on he walked he

[11:45]ran he lost everybody said that's it he grabbed he raised money

[11:52]he went to the people he said his mom said no it'll

[11:55]happen so the third time instead of running for city councilman he

[12:00]ran for judge and we all know what happened so imagine the

[12:05]first time he ran for city council and there was that loss

[12:09]and he didn't know how to close that door would have he

[12:11]became judge impossible i was talking to somebody yesterday while she was

[12:17]passing away he said my life changed at this one moment he

[12:21]said one of my friends when i was working at a gas

[12:23]station convinced tried to convince me to take a credit card so

[12:26]we could scan it and run it up the bill and i

[12:30]told the no friend said you're gonna always be a loser his

[12:35]friend told him that he said well i can't said twenty years

[12:39]later that same friend came to him out of nowhere works at

[12:45]a dealership came to him and asked him for money he says

[12:49]wow here now i have a beautiful house family here's a person

[12:52]who's divorced with three kids he said if i would have taken

[12:55]that one negative opportunity and went with him where would have my

[12:59]life ended up it would have been impossible and look how allah

[13:02]showed me you took that opportunity you didn't go against it so

[13:07]every day some of these videos i'm gonna show you it just

[13:10]for us to reflect of an opportunity how do you train this

[13:13]yourself this way you go home your mom tells you the dishes

[13:19]clean them there's more sisters here than brothers i use dishes even

[13:23]though the brothers should do the dishes too typically we say ma

[13:27]i just came home i didn't even eat with you guys why

[13:30]should i clean the dishes or why should i take out the

[13:33]table we complain about it but your mom says why not so

[13:37]the one who does do it and doesn't look for a reason

[13:40]to complain not to do it that's opportunity that they just found

[13:44]to increase their willpower but if you keep rejecting those opportunities you

[13:48]think you'll see other opportunities that come even listening we have a

[13:53]saturday school and there's one boy i couldn't get him to listen

[13:57]he's the only one that and the the the mother would say

[14:00]he's not doing good in school i said how can i teach

[14:03]a this boy a lesson so i was speaking and i said

[14:06]okay and i called out his name i said here's i i

[14:10]took out a $100 bill and in front of everybody i said

[14:15]here here's a $100 wallahi he's got as my witness if you

[14:18]repeat what i just said i'll give you this 100 and he

[14:24]couldn't everybody else was raising their hand know what he said but

[14:28]the boy says i can't so i said look what did he

[14:31]just lose an opportunity i said but if he knew if you

[14:35]knew you're listening to this lecture i'm gonna question you you'll get

[14:38]a $100 would you pay attention yes but god doesn't tell you

[14:42]when that $100 is coming so god says always pay attention always

[14:47]look for those opportunities they come every day it could be at

[14:50]the grocery store there's an opportunity your mom could be having a

[14:53]bad day she could take it out on you that's an opportunity

[14:56]not to say something had that magic in her that spirit in

[15:02]her where she took those opportunities every day and then when her

[15:06]soul was leaving the brother we thought it was gonna happen at

[15:11]the hospital then her son came to me and says i just

[15:15]wish we could take her home i don't want her to die

[15:17]here i said for her i believe praying in bold prayers you

[15:21]want something pray for her don't go to god and tell him

[15:25]how big your problems are go to your problems and tell him

[15:28]how big your lord is it's a difference so i said pray

[15:32]for it said okay prayed next day she's at the house the

[15:38]nurse comes she's got twelve hours to live so all i kept

[15:43]thinking is the angels because she died in such a peace that

[15:46]i've i've seen a lot of bodies leave their soul i've never

[15:50]witnessed anything like this ever were their families together no bickering no

[15:56]fighting nothing everybody is just reciting hajj ahmad was there sayyid kazwini

[16:02]was there everybody was just reciting it was so peaceful so my

[16:06]thought was when she was in the hospital bet you the angel

[16:08]went to her and says your son asked for this do you

[16:11]accept to go to your house i bet you she said yes

[16:14]even though she's suffering then she's at the house her every time

[16:18]we're thinking two three times it's her last breath the mother or

[16:23]the daughter would be ma one more moment and all i kept

[16:27]thinking is the angels asked her one more moment do you accept

[16:32]she would say yeah and the way her soul left the body

[16:39]i can't explain it that's why imam ali says you can't explain

[16:42]it you have to watch it and be ready for it it's

[16:45]just like somebody says explain birth when your mother gave birth to

[16:50]you or or mother mothers give birth you can't unless you see

[16:54]it or witness what a mother goes through and in the same

[16:57]token you know when you're in the womb of the mother you

[17:00]would look at your hands your feet you say what are these

[17:03]for what do i need them for you don't need them in

[17:06]the womb but then when you leave the womb and you go

[17:08]to the world you say oh this is why i need my

[17:10]hands but then when you somebody says why should i pray why

[17:14]should i be peaceful why should i look for opportunities yesterday concluded

[17:19]so the same reason when you leave this world and you go

[17:21]to the next and that's when you say oh that's why i

[17:25]shouldn't have back bit that's why i shouldn't have drank alcohol that's

[17:29]why i shouldn't have had shady friends that's why i should have

[17:32]been respectful to my mother and father ah so i could have

[17:35]a peaceful death and then within the grave it could be peaceful

[17:40]she died you know what they put in her casket her quran

[17:44]that she's had for fifty years her prayer rug it's all she

[17:47]took and even that she technically can't take nothing but allah and

[17:51]the angels that were sent to her i saw it yesterday clearly

[17:54]it was up to her when she left i've never witnessed anything

[17:58]like that usually when you see souls right away where it's done

[18:00]if you see people who live because the prophet said the state

[18:04]that you live in is the state that we're gonna take you

[18:06]and you're gonna be in in the next life so if you

[18:08]live a shady past you live a harsh past if you have

[18:11]two tongues two faces when you're in the grave same thing be

[18:16]aware so anybody who has a family member anything and they're passing

[18:20]away go visit them watch it it's one of the most profound

[18:24]things why because you know it's one thing to look at a

[18:29]doctor a lawyer somebody who's wealthy you may not experience that it's

[18:34]one thing to experience that because you know you're gonna experience it

[19:50]brooklyn heights and we've rigged the place with cameras and hire an

[19:54]actor ross to play our store clerk tracy and carla the customers

[19:58]are also actors what would you do if you witness a store

[20:03]clerk cheating a customer out of a winning tick kit can you

[20:09]just scan this i'm just gonna get do you have some chardonnay

[20:18]a store and somebody's gonna steal how many of you think she

[20:22]will speak up for the truth and follow her fitra muslims non

[22:33]see the ticket what's i don't even have so the lady in

[22:35]the scarf they kinda gave it away you think she'll say something

[22:40]okay a ticket it's a what's ticket her name what fitra the

[22:46]clerk tells her he ripped up the losing ticket it's ripped up

[22:50]didn't ever rip up the ticket i was in here looking at

[22:53]you but she's not buying it but what is the problem with

[22:56]you showing her the ticket that you're supposed to have ripped up

[22:58]your handkerchief was over your eyes you're like nothing i'm talking this

[23:02]right now your eyes were down on the floor you didn't see

[23:04]anything please stop it she's still not saying you're the only one

[23:09]i'm joking you're honest here nevra odom thinks we stumbled into a

[23:13]crime in progress and points the finger so what is the problem

[23:17]with giving her the ripped up ticket that you said she didn't

[23:20]win anything off and when we start rolling again other witnesses start

[23:25]stepping up so why don't you give her back the ticket i

[23:28]can't give her back the ticket it's storm policy we heard the

[23:31]machine say it's the only gun at least give her a ticket

[23:44]a retired police officer couple of things happen when should you get

[23:51]angry we got few faculties we got four in power of intelligence

[23:55]power of anger power of imagination power of desire when should we

[23:59]become angry only for allah those people became angry they saw injustice

[24:05]they you're supposed to rise you need the power of anger imagine

[24:09]if you didn't have it and you saw somebody getting slapped or

[24:12]hit you never got angry look how important anger is but if

[24:16]it's used with your intellect and your fitrah is telling you getting

[24:19]angry now imagine that lady who didn't speak this video why it

[24:25]why it resonates with me when i was 13 14 years old

[24:29]my first job was at a gas station i was changing tires

[24:34]a guy called the guy working at the gas station said i

[24:37]wanna play these numbers he played them the guy won for $20,000

[24:45]so the guy came and says okay where's my ticket oh the

[24:50]guy says oh i was so busy i forgot and here i'm

[24:56]standing 13 years old and i froze i didn't know what to

[25:01]do and the guy left and the guy knew he got robbed

[25:06]but he can't say anything because he says what do you mean

[25:08]i thought you were playing him while i was on the phone

[25:10]with you he said no was playing somebody else's number i'm sorry

[25:14]and i didn't speak i'll never forget that day and when i

[25:19]thought about it later and i saw that guy years later i

[25:22]said from now on anytime i see this type of opportunity i

[25:26]don't care i'm going to speak up because those are the moments

[25:30]that you'll never forget just like when there was a when i

[25:33]was playing at basketball one time and a boy one of the

[25:36]older guys threw a basketball at a boy and i told him

[25:39]what are you doing and he started attacking me i said how

[25:42]can you throw a basketball at this was at the frilliant club

[25:45]so this little boy then his brother started attacking me started yelling

[25:49]at me they wanted to hit me because i said why would

[25:51]you do that you hit him in the head what if his

[25:53]father was there what would he have done to says what i'll

[25:54]do to you so the next day i'm working out and i

[25:57]prayed sahifa sajidiyah by imam zain abdul din to repel enemies the

[26:02]next day i'm watching them play basketball they fight each other and

[26:06]they get kicked out i never saw them again but look at

[26:09]this where those boy that that woman who didn't speak up that

[26:14]was viewed by millions of people how do you think she felt

[26:18]when she saw that pretty guilty well day of judgment is that

[26:24]every every moment of your life that you lost an opportunity allah

[26:28]will show it to you and say why didn't you pick this

[26:31]up just like that brother i was talking about he didn't take

[26:34]the credit card the angels are saying bravo look where you ended

[26:37]up we have moments like that every day do you know if

[26:40]you didn't speak back to your mom do you know if you

[26:42]didn't text that boy and that because you didn't text that boy

[26:45]or because you did you ended up marrying him that was why

[26:47]you could have been had so much issues because that boy did

[26:51]things behind your mother's back and behind his mother's back one day

[26:55]he's doing things now behind your back what did you think was

[26:57]gonna happen and if you didn't text back like your mom told

[27:00]you this is who you would have married then you have a

[27:03]guilty feeling just like that lady is guilty watching that video that's

[27:07]day of judgment every opportunity that you had why did you speak

[27:11]back here why didn't you show patience here had those more in

[27:17]the positive must have been for being married that many years and

[27:21]she never talks back to her husband and the angels i tell

[27:25]you 100% were listening to her they didn't they were patient with

[41:54]is very emotional after that i went on to tutoring here at

[41:57]wise and you know it was just such an amazing process participating

[42:01]in that process of educating the youth the next generation and inshallah

[42:06]i hope that you know although we are very excited in moving

[42:11]to the new mosque inshallah we'll work together and you know that

[42:14]bond that we created inshallah we'll continue so honestly i just want

[42:48]got accepted at eastern michigan full ride scholarship and here's the interesting

[42:54]thing he was only 15 years old so his plan is to

[43:01]finish college end up going to the hausa but look he took

[43:04]an opportunity how many people you come and say you could graduate

[43:07]at 15 negative thoughts will come in that can never happen if

[43:10]he would have said that would he be standing here right now

[43:13]so his existence it's up to him remember you're the problem but

[43:18]you're also the solution it's up to you so here's a living

[43:22]testament somebody who took an opportunity and ran with it so let's
