[0:08][Music] [Music] allahar Allah abbar allahar [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] as
[1:24][Music] [Music] [Music] allahar ill [Music] alhamdulillah alhamd mamuh muham muham I
[4:01]my dear brothers and sisters one of the greatest blessings that Allah
[4:07]subhanahu wa ta'ala can give a person is the blessing of children
[4:12]the blessing of having a progeny and seeing your children grow and
[4:19]raising children this is one of the greatest blessings in life that
[4:28]every person will feel a sense of fulfillment fillment a sense of
[4:32]completion through seeing their children and the benefits of having children are
[4:42]you see the benefits in this life you see the happiness and
[4:48]the blessings that they give you and also in the afterlife for
[4:51]those who believe in Islam and believe in God we believe that
[4:54]our children benefit us in the afterlife the of Al he says
[5:02]when the son of Adam dies he is totally disconnected from this
[5:07]dun except for three things one is their actions your own Deeds
[5:18]second is leaving behind a charity that is continuous and third to
[5:25]have children that pray for you when we say in our this
[5:32]is doing Dua for our parents and doing Dua for our grandparents
[5:38]so this is one of the ways that a person benefits from
[5:43]having children however my dear brothers and sisters parenting is not easy
[5:52]parenting is a huge responsibility it's a blessing but at the same
[5:56]time it is a responsibility and it must be taken seriously because
[6:04]when parents do not take their role seriously you see the first
[6:10]to suffer are their children that's one second they themselves will suffer
[6:15]raising children properly is like an investment you spend time it gives
[6:19]you back if you did not take it as a great responsibility
[6:26]you yourself will suffer as a parent and third society as a
[6:30]whole suffers if you have a whole society of children that were
[6:35]not raised properly that did not have a proper upbringing you see
[6:39]the whole community and the whole society will suffer as a result
[6:43]this is why my dear brothers and sisters Islam as a religion
[6:49]it gives us instructions but not only instructions on how to worship
[6:54]or how to fast during the month of Ramadan how to go
[6:59]to Haj Islam gives me a guide line on how to live
[7:01]my life in terms of marriage relations in terms of business relations
[7:05]in terms of dealing with my neighbors dealing with people around me
[7:10]and some of the instructions that the religion of Islam provides for
[7:13]us are how to parent how to be a good father how
[7:18]to be a good mother what are the duties and responsibilities of
[7:22]a parent this is something that we have to keep in mind
[7:26]and my religiosity and my Islam is defined not only by the
[7:32]small act or by what is apparent by me going to the
[7:34]Masjid and praying my relig my religiosity is defined through the holistic
[7:39]approach whether I am being a good neighbor I'm a good son
[7:45]I'm a good father I'm a good husband all of these Allah
[7:47]subhah wa ta'ala puts into consideration when judging us and Allah subhana
[7:54]wa tala gives us guidelines on how to be the best person
[8:00]in every aspect of life and we see that also being a
[8:04]parent there is an Islamic approach so what is the Islamic approach
[8:10]or Islamic philosophy on parenting one Islam regards your children as an
[8:22]as a trust in your hands some of us we think we
[8:27]own our children we think we are entitled to have these children
[8:32]no our children they are am they are trust in our hands
[8:38]and what does AM mean am means something that I don't own
[8:42]second something that is given to me and third something that could
[8:46]be taken away from me and we all deal with this either
[8:52]we leave our children or our children have to leave us that
[8:56]means in fact every relationship that we have in life not only
[9:01]with your children your relationship with your with your family with your
[9:06]friends relatives whoever it is every relationship should be treated as an
[9:11]am it's something that is given to me and it could be
[9:13]taken away from me and sooner or later there is going to
[9:17]be a type of Separation so how do I do how do
[9:24]I deal with this am you find some they're very careless they're
[9:28]Reckless they don't care about fulfilling their responsibilities and they have children
[9:34]and they just say let the society raise my children let the
[9:38]community Let The Village raise my children and there are some parents
[9:41]they are actually like that they just want to be a machine
[9:46]that produces children but that's it nothing else they just have the
[9:49]children and they throw them sometimes you see the father does this
[9:52]sometimes you see the mother does does this sometimes you see both
[9:55]of them do this and this my dear brothers and sisters it's
[9:59]wrong and this is one of the reasons why Islam has strict
[10:01]rules of hijab and Islam says dating and any relationship outside of
[10:06]marriage is forbidden why because when you enter into a Halal relationship
[10:12]you acknowledge that you have responsibilities this Society what do they teach
[10:15]you they say go have as much fun as you want go
[10:19]and live a promiscuous lifestyle and if you ended up having children
[10:22]you have two options either you leave them and that's it no
[10:25]one knows who their father is or second you go and you
[10:30]have abortion Islam says no Islam says you have children you become
[10:34]responsible for these children and you are the father or the mother
[10:38]they are am in your hand so this is number one number
[10:42]two my dear brothers and sisters our children the Islamic philosophy our
[10:48]children they are a test for us and the test sometimes could
[10:57]be very difficult and this is why probably one of the most
[11:01]difficult tests people throughout time have been tested in their life they
[11:06]are their test with their children and we see from amongst those
[11:09]that have dealt with these tests are the prophets of Allah subhana
[11:13]tala he lost his children yeah he would have sons and they
[11:19]would die you see the they were tested with their children and
[11:23]Prophet n he was tested because his child was not on the
[11:30]right track prophet he's a prophet of God but his son he
[11:33]says no I'm not going to ride the ark I'm going to
[11:37]go on a mountain he says I'm going to go to the
[11:39]mountain the mountain is going to protect me from the water n
[11:44]tells him oh my dear son nothing could protect you from this
[11:47]water come and ride come and ride this Ark but as no
[11:53]is watching his son a wave came and it swept his son
[11:56]away from him ibraim was tested with his son ibraim had to
[12:01]slaughter his own son and this is the whole definition of your
[12:03]children being an AM Allah says I gave you now Allah tells
[12:08]ibraim give me back what I gave you do you want to
[12:11]hold on or do you want to give back and submit to
[12:13]Allah subhana wa tala Zakaria was tested and was tested so my
[12:21]dear brothers and sisters how do we deal with our children how
[12:24]do we deal with our family and today I want to talk
[12:29]about what children really need from their parents what do our children
[12:34]need from us there are many needs that a child has perhaps
[12:40]one of the first needs that a child has is the need
[12:43]to feed the child the need to give warmth the need to
[12:49]cradle the child and give shelter and give the physical and the
[12:53]material support this is something that mashallah parents as soon as a
[12:57]person becomes a parent they become very good at that you don't
[13:02]need to go to a a class to learn this this is
[13:06]something that Allah subhana wa tala has placed in the Instinct of
[13:09]every mother every father most of the times it's the mothers but
[13:12]Allah subhana tala has placed that instinct that they become perfect they
[13:17]become very good caretakers of their children this is perfect however is
[13:22]this all that your children need is this all that our children
[13:25]require from us no my dear brothers and sisters today some people
[13:30]they have the philosophy that if I'm a good father I'm a
[13:32]good mother I just give my children the money I give them
[13:36]the credit card I put them in the best school I provide
[13:38]the material and the physical support and that's it I've done my
[13:44]job as a father and I've done my job as a mother
[13:46]this is not the full need that our children need from us
[13:53]my dear brothers and sisters our children need proper upbringing our children
[14:00]need the morality and the principles and the values to be instilled
[14:04]in them and this is how you see your children as an
[14:07]investment when you pass your ideology and you pass your Iman and
[14:14]your faith in your children so other than the physical and material
[14:17]support in terms of providing food and providing shelter second that was
[14:23]the first need that every child has second our children need our
[14:27]love they need our our care and they need our emotional support
[14:34]my dear brothers and sisters em important in Islam and displaying emotions
[14:40]showing that you love someone are very important not only with your
[14:44]children you see this between a husband and wife used to tell
[14:48]those men who never know they don't no one taught them how
[14:50]to show love they thought that you have to be rough they're
[14:55]living in a desert atmosphere climate they were rough with everyone Al
[14:59]he comes to them and he displays love and he displays emotions
[15:03]and he was and some of them they were surprised so he
[15:12]would take children his grandchildren for example one says he takes IM
[15:18]Hassan IM Hussein he takes them and he's kissing them and he's
[15:22]cuddling them and he's holding them and he's playing with them one
[15:25]of thei men one of those men he tells them what are
[15:31]you doing tells him what am I doing I'm kissing my grandchild
[15:33]the man he says I have all of these children not a
[15:38]single day did I kiss them tells him what can I do
[15:46]with a person's heart that and mercy has been stripped away from
[15:51]their heart and then says the one who does not display the
[15:58]one who does not display Mercy to others Allah will not give
[16:04]this person Mercy you want Mercy from God then you have to
[16:07]be a loving and caretaking person to your um to your children
[16:14]and today my dear brothers and sisters we find in many cases
[16:18]especially with working moms and working dads both parents are working the
[16:23]child is born and very soon the child has just started walking
[16:29]where does the child end up going in the daycare and the
[16:32]child instead of receiving the love and the affection from the parents
[16:36]you find that the child is thrown in the school system here
[16:42]in the very liberal school system here and the child comes home
[16:45]soon he has to sleep the next day it's like a robot
[16:47]you're working and you're just putting them to sleep and you're not
[16:52]spending time with your children and then when the weekend comes you
[16:54]find a lot of parents they fill their kids schedule with activities
[16:57]that they don't even have time to sit with their children soccer
[17:00]and this and that and you don't have time to actually spend
[17:05]time with your children our children my dear brothers and sisters they
[17:10]one of the greatest needs after food and shelter and all of
[17:14]these Basics is the need for emotional support the need for love
[17:20]the need for comforting the need to have dialogue and spending time
[17:24]with them and sometimes even as young children the Hadith says while
[17:28]until they are at the age of seven that time play with
[17:32]your children play with them used to play he goes in a
[17:38]house in a home of Orphans this was he was an old
[17:42]he was in his 60s he goes in a home of Orphans
[17:45]and he lets these orphans they come and they ride on his
[17:48]shoulder why because children need emotional support they need that love they
[17:54]need that play time and the of he says Whoever has a
[18:02]child you become a childlike with your child meaning play with your
[18:06]child of course not when he's 16 and 20 you're still a
[18:11]child with him no we're talking about when the child is still
[18:13]young and that is the time that they need that emotional care
[18:18]then the Hadith says once they grow older then you have to
[18:20]give them that responsibility then your attitude has to change now you
[18:25]have to consider this person responsible so he writes a letter to
[18:32]his son IM he tells him look at the display of emotions
[18:37]he tells him I saw that you're a Part of Me no
[18:43]you are my whole me meaning you're not just a part of
[18:47]me you are me and then he tells him if anything happens
[18:55]to you then that would hurt me if death comes to you
[19:03]it's as if death has come to me so this is something
[19:09]that uh a second need that all children have the need for
[19:12]emotional nutrition and love and care third my dear brothers and sisters
[19:16]a third very important need that our children need from us is
[19:23]the need to have good Role Models around them it's not just
[19:27]some people they come and they say I have to to put
[19:31]my kids in a good school a good school maybe the professor
[19:33]will get you or the teacher will get you to Harvard or
[19:38]will get you to the top schools but does that mean that
[19:40]that is necessarily a good role model for our children no this
[19:45]is why more important we have to look at the bigger picture
[19:48]more important than just good schooling we need to have good Role
[19:52]Models around our children we need to become good Role Models around
[19:58]our children and sometimes and all the time not sometimes the first
[20:04]role model for the children are the parents you might invest in
[20:08]putting your kids in the best school but if at home prayer
[20:13]time comes and you're not getting up to pray or you are
[20:16]showing your children that you get angry very quickly or you lie
[20:20]or you cheat or you steal or you do all of these
[20:22]things who are the children learning from the children are learning from
[20:28]their parents so if we are not good individuals we have to
[20:33]make sure that in order for me to raise my children properly
[20:37]I have I might have to change myself in order for me
[20:40]to discipline my children I might have to discipline myself first some
[20:47]of us we are living a lifestyle that is far from God
[20:49]but we want to raise righteous children we want to raise a
[20:54]child like the can you do that no you have to you
[20:56]have to discipline yourself first you have to make sure that at
[21:01]home you are fulfilling your your obligations because the first person that
[21:06]the children look at as soon as they open their eyes very
[21:08]young they look at their parents as their role models they look
[21:13]at you as the role model so this is the best way
[21:14]to teach today some parents they come and they say say what
[21:18]am I going to do with my children I feel like I'm
[21:23]losing them well are you practicing your faith in front of your
[21:27]children are you actually proud of your faith and have you always
[21:30]been consistent in PR in practicing your faith because the children they
[21:34]will mirror you they look at their parents if their parents are
[21:37]honest they're going to become honest if their parents are making fun
[21:41]of others they will make fun of others if their parents are
[21:44]doing things that right and wrong they will do exactly the same
[21:48]thing and this is why my dear brothers and sisters there are
[21:52]some parents they come and they say I want my children to
[21:53]come to the Masjid yes that's nice but if as a parent
[21:57]I don't come to the Masjid how am I going to expect
[22:01]my children to come I need to come and teach them and
[22:04]not only coming to the Masjid but with everything else and while
[22:08]we're talking about providing good role models for our children we have
[22:16]to look at the schools as well today maybe at home you
[22:18]create a very holy atmosphere maybe you bring your children to the
[22:22]Masjid but the moment you send them off to school who is
[22:26]teaching them during that 78 hour period who's who's their role model
[22:30]at that time and this is something very important and this is
[22:33]why we as a Muslim Community we really have to look into
[22:39]private schools we really have to consider the importance of not just
[22:43]giving them our their academic knowledge but we have to make sure
[22:47]that we are providing all types of um examples for our children
[22:53]as they are growing up I will pause here and then I
[22:56]will continue in the second with the remaining points alhamd alhamd muham
[23:57]muham muham m husin muhammedi Muhammad Muhammad Ali my dear brothers and
[25:04]sisters we are talking about the importance of child upbringing and fulfilling
[25:10]our responsibility towards our children and this is a blessing and it
[25:16]is a responsibility that Allah subhana tala has given us and we
[25:22]mentioned the first point in the needs of a child is the
[25:24]physical and material need that every parent is good at providing second
[25:33]the need for providing emotional love and compassion and fulfilling that emotional
[25:38]need that every person and every child has third providing good Role
[25:47]Models putting our children in environments where there are good Role Models
[25:50]surrounding our children and the fourth point my dear brothers and sisters
[25:57]which I want to discuss is one of the best things that
[26:04]could help a child in their upbringing perhaps more than the money
[26:08]and more than the schooling and more than providing a good atmosphere
[26:14]is to have a stable home when the father and the mother
[26:23]have a stable relationship with one another this my dear brothers and
[26:27]sisters is very important because when the father and the mother they
[26:31]are on the same page they see eye to eye with one
[26:36]another when they are raising their children they support one another they
[26:40]don't bring one another down they respect one another in front of
[26:45]the children the children are going to idolize their parents and the
[26:50]children are going to obey their parents but when the children they
[26:56]see the father does not allow the rules of the mother to
[26:59]go for example or the mother as soon as the father leaves
[27:03]she starts complaining about the father in front of the children and
[27:07]this causes weakness within the home and that will reflect on the
[27:13]upbringing of the children then you will find that the father is
[27:19]going to become weaker and the mother is going to become weaker
[27:22]when they are trying to admonish their children where they're trying to
[27:26]set rules so that their could live by and rules that their
[27:31]family could abide by so my dear brothers and sisters this is
[27:35]why it's very important that even now within a father or mother
[27:41]a husband and wife sometimes there are disputes this is something very
[27:44]natural but it has you have to be very careful that these
[27:50]dis disputes do not negatively reflect on the children and impact the
[27:55]children in a negative way so even if there's a dispute there
[28:01]has to be a way in dealing with this dispute there has
[28:03]to be a level of respect because when there is a level
[28:07]of respect for the husband to the wife and the wife to
[28:09]the husband then the children are never going to disobey the parents
[28:14]but when the father is not obey or not respecting the mother
[28:17]and the mother is not respecting the rules of the husband the
[28:20]father then you see that the children are going to say I
[28:24]don't need to respect them and this my dear brothers and sisters
[28:28]the stability within the home home this is a very important factor
[28:31]in helping our children be raised properly now I know there are
[28:36]some parents that unfortunately don't have that because there was a divorce
[28:43]or there were there was some dispute but do not we should
[28:46]not allow our disputes for example a husband and his dispute with
[28:49]the wife to reflect bad on the children you have to be
[28:55]able to put that aside and let the raising of the children
[29:00]be a goal that you both have let that be a purpose
[29:02]that you both have that you are both working and striving towards
[29:06]you have to support one another because at the end of the
[29:08]day both father and mother love the children so if that is
[29:10]your goal then you have to make sure that at least in
[29:14]that you could find agreement even if you don't find agreement in
[29:19]anything else so this is something that is very important my dear
[29:24]brothers and sisters because when the child sees that there's no stability
[29:27]in their own home they can they will not be able to
[29:32]look at their parents as proper Role Models now who are they
[29:34]going to look at as Role Models they're going to look at
[29:36]their friend's dad or their friend's mom or they might even go
[29:42]to an extreme measure of looking at Hollywood actors actors and actresses
[29:47]as role models for them and this becomes very destructive for a
[29:51]child especially at a young age so this was the fourth point
[29:56]the fifth and final point my dear brothers and sisters in child
[29:59]upbringing is that we need to provide religious guidance to our children
[30:05]the other point we mentioned was having Role Models being a role
[30:09]model in and being a good person now yes our children may
[30:14]be looking at you as a role model in akl and manners
[30:18]and and good attitude towards other people but we need to go
[30:22]the extra mile and provide religious guidance for ourselves and our children
[30:26]what does that mean that means I need to learn about my
[30:33]faith that means I need to dedicate time out of my life
[30:35]out of my busy schedule for the sake of my kids for
[30:39]the sake of my family to bring my children to the Masjid
[30:41]to make this lifestyle the lifestyle of coming to a religious environment
[30:47]and learning about our religion be a part of our life a
[30:53]part of the decisions that we make in life I know some
[30:55]parents they spend thousands of dollars to put their kids through SAT
[30:58]prep classes thousands of dollars but then when it comes to giving
[31:03]to the Masjid or putting your children in a program at the
[31:06]Masjid they come and they say what this is too much and
[31:10]they start so why are we we need to we need to
[31:14]have that balance my dear brothers and sisters we need to be
[31:16]able to uh just as we invest in their material well-being just
[31:22]as we invest and we want our children to go to the
[31:24]best schools the best universities and become professionals and become successful we
[31:28]need to understand that a part of the definition of success is
[31:32]instilling in our children religion and IM and faith and ta and
[31:39]that closeness to Allah subhah wa taala and Allah says in the
[31:43][Music] Quran oh you people who believe protect yourselves and protect your
[31:56]families from the Hellfire of the day of judgment and another verse
[31:59]Allah says in the Quran oh Allah IIM says this oh Allah
[32:06]make me from those who uphold prayer and my children he's not
[32:11]only doing Dua for himself he's saying and my children so my
[32:14]dear brothers and sisters if we fulfill these we will find happiness
[32:19]and blessings in this duny and more importantly in we ask Allah
[32:25]subhanahu wa ta'ala to bless you all and bless our children and
[32:29]help us and put us on the right path towards raising our
[32:34]children my dear brothers and sisters just a few days ago um
[32:38]the war criminal who is um who was who has an arrest
[32:44]warrant for him by the IC um came to America very normally
[32:48]because in America they apply rules apply only to poor countries rules
[32:55]apply only to some countries but for other countries especially Israel n
[32:58]none of these rules apply none of the rules of Human Rights
[33:00]none of the rules of democracy that does not apply these rules
[33:04]are made for only a particular group of people so Netanyahu he
[33:12]comes here and he meets with Trump and they come up with
[33:16]this amazing plan to save the poor people of gazah who are
[33:24]living in the rubbles and there's 30,000 unexploded ammunitions under them so
[33:29]now because they they care so much for their humanity and for
[33:33]the well-being of these children so now this plan is let's displace
[33:37]all of these people for the h 100th time as if they
[33:41]did not tell them go north go south go east go west
[33:45]they kept moving them around now they come and they say let's
[33:48]this time let's kick them out of Gaza let's kick them out
[33:54]and throw them on other countries and then we're going to build
[33:57]something very amazing we're going to build a Riviera so that these
[34:02]multi-millionaires around Trump and Trump himself they could build their golf courses
[34:06]and they could have their Resorts and they could make it be
[34:09]a very beautiful place where people from all over the world are
[34:15]going to fly and go there does it work like that they
[34:20]go they want to build a resort over the bones and over
[34:24]the blood of these innocent children innocent Palestinians this this is the
[34:29]logic that they are pushing other people first of all when you
[34:32]were the one the United States and the politicians Republicans and Democrats
[34:38]along with Israel this genocide is on their hands when you are
[34:41]when you were responsible for this genocide you lose that ability to
[34:48]come and speak about human rights anymore now no one wants to
[34:50]talk no one wants to hear about human rights from people whose
[34:53]hands are stained with the blood of innocent people lot other people
[34:58]talk about human rights other people talk about the solution and the
[35:02]people of Gaza they never asked for America to come and save
[35:06]them they never asked for America to come and and and remove
[35:11]them it was it was American bombs that are that have fallen
[35:13]on them they never asked for you to throw the bombs and
[35:16]they never asked for your support so my dear brothers and sisters
[35:22]all of this that we saw it shows that from day one
[35:25]this was all one big plan that they had in mind even
[35:30]many years ago many years ago even before this war they were
[35:35]talking about how they want to just kick all these people out
[35:39]kick Palestinians out of their own land this was all one big
[35:46]plan to steal more land to kick the people of Gaza out
[35:48]and it was never about the hostages it was never about the
[35:53]rights of Jewish people and it was never about the rights of
[35:56]anyone living in there it's a it was was all about a
[35:59]group of people a small group of people that just want to
[36:04]steal more land and kick out the Palestinians out of their own
[36:08]land so we pray for the Believers that are resisting and at
[36:15]the same time as we see these conversations going on we saw
[36:18]the people of Lebanon and we saw the people of gazah they
[36:22]go back to their ruined homes they go back to their destroyed
[36:25]homes and this is the difference between the settler mindset the settler
[36:29]mindset whose Grandparents were born in Europe or America or somewhere else
[36:33]they're going and living in that land in that stolen land for
[36:37]a brief while they'll leave as soon as they sense danger but
[36:40]the one who owns this land they go back even if their
[36:42]home is destroyed they go back to that land and that is
[36:46]the best way of resisting where you see them they're going back
[36:49]there's no weapons in their hands they're going back they have nothing
[36:52]but they go and they sit in their destroyed homes and this
[36:56]is the way that they resist the oppression that they are seeing
[36:59]so we pray for these uh our brothers and sisters that are
[37:02]resisting this oppression and aggression that has been going on for a
[37:08]very long time and we ask Allah subhah wa ta'ala to save
[37:10]them from the suffering that they are going through my dear brothers
[37:14]and sisters tonight inshallah we have a program run by the youth
[37:20]and um it is for the Youth and it is going to
[37:24]be a program about intentions we invite all of you to send
[37:28]your youth and we have one of the brothers he's donating uh

[37:37]um restaurant here so what better can they have they're coming and
