[0:18][Music] s husin may Allah grant us all his Z in this
[1:06]life and his in the next life illuminate your malalis and hearts
[1:16]with a loud salaat for Muhammad and Al Muhammad respected brothers and
[1:28]sisters tonight I'd like to share a story with you and this
[1:42]story is a non-fiction story it's not just based on a true
[1:51]story but it is indeed itself a TR a true story it's
[2:03]a very short story what happened and the events that I will
[2:10]speak about took no longer than maybe half an hour or an
[2:17]hour but there are so many lessons in the story for us
[2:27]that I can truly say that this story is put potentially lifechanging
[2:34]the story is about a couple a man and a wife that
[2:44]had a beautiful lovely marriage relationship their marriage did not last long
[2:52]unfortunately fact only nine years after those nine years they were separated
[3:03]from each other and during those nine years they left a legacy
[3:17]of a successful marriage that every single one of us can emulate
[3:25]in our lives and that is the story of what's beautiful about
[3:41]the stories of is that they're not just stories for bedtime for
[3:51]us to enjoy even though they are beautiful even though we do
[3:57]enjoy them but what's beautiful about the stories of ah B is
[4:03]the Practical lessons that we can extract from the hadiths from the
[4:08]reports and the stories of B whether it is the sayings the
[4:13]statements or sometimes even the acts of some of these lessons may
[4:22]not be very obvious one would have to look a little deeper
[4:26]read between the lines to extract them but at the end of
[4:34]the day they have left us an ocean of knowledge and lessons
[4:37]like I said this story is no longer than a few lines
[4:42]long but you're able to extract literally without exaggerating hundreds of beautiful
[4:49]LS and I'll just mention some of them it's narrated that one
[4:57]day was outside he was at home home FAA was inside the
[5:04]house and she was sick resting where was IM Ali we can
[5:12]assume that most likely IM Ali was working yes Imam Ali used
[5:18]to work IM aliam for the majority of his life he would
[5:26]work every single day he would put time and effort so that
[5:31]he would make a living now what would the Imam do it's
[5:34]reported that the Imam would either plant trees plants Farm dig Wells
[5:44]and everything related to that in fact if any of you has
[5:51]been to Haj inshallah Allah grants us Hajj and when you go
[5:54]to al- Medina the city of you're about to start your Hajj
[5:59]from there you wear your you go to is the Masjid where
[6:06]we initialize and start our or the area is called you'll even
[6:14]see some signs it's called AB Ali Ali means what the wells
[6:21]of Ali what does that mean that area my friends contains Wells
[6:32]that IM Ali dug 1,400 years ago with his bare hands no
[6:39]tools no machines all by himself and some of them were so
[6:46]large such that that area came to be known as Ali the
[6:48]area where the wells of IM Ali were dug there so IM
[6:56]aliam would spend time working to make a living but someone may
[7:10]ask here but doesn't Imam Ali always spend his time in worship
[7:16]with Allah so if Ali spends his time worshiping Allah then what's
[7:24]all this work for the Dy what's all these Wells and farms
[7:30]and Orchards that the IM himself he didn't just buy no no
[7:35]no he would make an orchard from scratch he would make an
[7:43]entire area of of trees and plants out of out of scratch
[7:52]so wasn't IM aliam spending most of his time on worship yes
[7:57]you see what's beautiful about Islam worship doesn't just have one form
[8:06]or shape worship can come in many forms and styles there's a
[8:10]tradition from where he says there are 70 types of worship or
[8:23]70 sections to worship he says one of them one of those
[8:28]sections one of the types is what is working making a living
[8:35]and he says this is the one that Allah loves the most
[8:39]going out and working is considered as constant worship this is theith
[8:49]ofam and another tradition he's narrated saying the one who spends time
[9:02]trying to make Hal money through his hard work he says the
[9:12]one who tries to make a living he goes out spends his
[9:16]time and effort in a Halal way we have to stress Halal
[9:21]way the prophet sallallah says this individual the doors and the gates
[9:37]of paradise will open widely for that person and Allah will tell
[9:40]him enter from whichever gate you want why because this person is
[9:45]engaging in a form of worship he's pleasing Allah subhanahu wa taala
[9:50]and he's just going to work so this is what's beautiful about
[9:54]Islam is that worship doesn't just come in the form of Prayer
[10:00]Quran Dua yes this is one sort and form of worship that
[10:11]is necessary but the prophet says that just working trying to make
[10:16]a living this Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala counts it as for me
[10:26]Allah subhana tala grants me just because I'm working now why is
[10:34]it considered worship so if I go to my work and I'm
[10:36]just making money and focused on my dun Allah is going to
[10:40]count that as worship how's how does that work yes Allah listen
[10:47]carefully brothers and sisters Allah will count even your work your work
[10:53]hours that you spend as worship if the intention is right what
[11:02]do I mean why do we work brothers and sisters this is
[11:10]a question that sounds very redundant and very obvious right some people
[11:17]work to survive if they don't work they probably cannot live most
[11:22]people here especially in the US that would not apply to them
[11:28]you're not going to die even if you don't work right you're
[11:30]always going to have some family members some government assistants and that
[11:36]will provide the bare minimum so that you can live so do
[11:39]we work to stay alive not here maybe in some poor countries
[11:46]if you don't go out and work you won't even find food
[11:51]but for us trust me just go on the scale and look
[11:53]at how much you wait and you'll realize that you don't really
[11:58]need all that food that you're buying so is why is it
[12:02]that we work then if it's not to stay alive see Islam
[12:09]says when you work your job is a means right to an
[12:14]end what's your goal behind working there should be two main goals
[12:17]if you're able to meet these two goals and to set your
[12:23]intentions on these two things work all you want and Allah will
[12:30]count as worship number one the first reason why we work brothers
[12:35]and sisters is that so we can live with dignity don't just
[12:42]put a period after we can live we can all live on
[12:50]unemployment benefits on welfare on begging on living off our family members
[12:56]and hitch hiking right but is that a respectful life is that
[13:00]a dignified life of course not Allah wants you to live a
[13:06]dignified life you and your family so when my intention to go
[13:15]to work is to preserve my dignity then Allah counts that as
[13:21]worship the Hadith of IM states that exactly IM says in theith
[13:28]I'll read it to you he says the one who goes to
[13:40]work tries to make a living invests does business whatever so that
[13:45]he can preserve the Dignity of himself and his family protect them
[13:49]give them respect in front of people's eyes the Imam says says
[14:02]this individual while he is working he is considered by Allah as
[14:08]greater than the one who's doing J fighting for Allah because this
[14:16]is a form of jihad as well fighting to preserve my dignity
[14:21]and my family's dignity so this is number one when you go
[14:25]to work tomorrow you wake up tell Allah Ya Allah I'm going
[14:29]not because I want to live but because I want to live
[14:38]with dignity Allah considers your work as eight hours of how beautiful
[14:44]is that that's number one number two the problem with this first
[14:49]goal is that many times we're able to live a dignified life
[14:56]with much less than what we make what do I mean how
[15:00]much does a average family of three four need to live a
[15:08]dignified life let's say let's say here in Michigan let's say $60,000
[15:13]$70,000 $80,000 $90,000 right you can live a dignified life anywhere within
[15:25]that bracket so anything that you're making up to that ceiling whatever
[15:33]it is 70 80 90 it's why because without that where do
[15:37]I sleep where does my family sleep how do I pay my
[15:43]bills whatever that is needed to live a dignified life but what
[15:47]happens when you start making more than that a lot of us
[15:52]make more than what we need to live a dignified life and
[15:55]if you want to know if you're one of those people look
[16:00]look at your savings account how much do you have in your
[16:02]savings account how long has it been there if you have 10
[16:07]20 30 50 100 Grand in your savings account and it's been
[16:09]there for a couple of years that means there's a surplus that
[16:13]was money that you did not need to live a dignified life
[16:18]yeah you set it aside for emergencies or whatnot but the point
[16:22]is it's extra so many of us we make more money than
[16:25]we need to live a dignified life I I need to wear
[16:32]decent clothing to live a dignified life but do I need designer
[16:37]brand to live a dignified life no once you go into the
[16:42]world of buying all this expensive stuff it's no longer and I'm
[16:49]not not I'm not just calling it a need I'm going even
[16:51]Beyond need it's a need for a dignified life not the bare
[17:04]minimum when we go and we start splurging and we exceed what
[17:11]we need to live a decent life many times we can't generalize
[17:18]as you know stereotype but many times it's about what it's about
[17:21]either Feeling Good Feeling Good Feeling Rich feeling uh part of an
[17:30]elite group or it's about showing off or else why would I
[17:34]buy a t-shirt that's really probably made in China and worth $5
[17:40]maybe for $100 or $80 or $70 why is it about dignity
[17:47]no it's it's about desire it's about ego most of the time
[17:50]so any money that's extra that I am spending that I'm making
[17:58]or spending that is beyond what is needed to live a dignified
[18:04]life Islam says that that is worshiping the Dy so Subhan Allah
[18:11]you work eight hours a day the first five hours you're worshipping
[18:15]Allah but as soon as you make what you need to live
[18:21]a dignified life from the fifth to the eighth hour the 6th
[18:23]to the e8th hour it all of the sudden switches from worshiping
[18:28]Allah to worshiping the D you're doing the same job why because
[18:33]remember your goal your motive your intention why are you working go
[18:37]home 1 p.m.
[18:39]you have made what is enough for you to live a dignified
[18:44]life let's say that you can leave early or you won't get
[18:47]fired why do you stay those three extra hours I'm not saying
[18:53]it's Haram but we're just saying that it won't be worship so
[18:57]number one whatever you need to live a dignified life all of
[19:04]that is worship it could be 50% 80% of your time whatever
[19:07]number two what if I work beyond that even beyond that brothers
[19:11]and sisters you can make that as how I need $70,000 to
[19:19]live a dignified life I make 200,000 you could also make that
[19:23]how the Surplus the 130 100 whatever you make that is a
[19:31]surplus Islam says invest it in your invest it don't give it
[19:36]away for free no no no no no invest it when you
[19:38]invest in the stock market are you just giving your money away
[19:43]no it's still yours because you're going to benefit in countless ways
[19:47]invest it in your if you do that even those extra hours
[19:53]that you work will become and says that we said he used
[20:03]to work remember throughout his lifetime he was able to earn money
[20:10]through his hard work such that he was able to buy 1,000
[20:14]slaves how many slaves 1,000 and that's a huge amount of money
[20:21]a slave would be probably the price of a car 1,000 slaves
[20:30]he bought why so that he would free them so that he
[20:36]would free them for Allah 1,000 slaves any surplus the IM would
[20:45]make you see the Imam never stopped working the Imam could say
[20:48]okay this is enough for me to eat why all this extra
[20:52]money you know when the Imam died he had so much land
[20:55]property Farms but he WR wrote In His will that everything I
[21:01]am giving and my sons Hassan and Hussein can take whatever they
[21:10]need to live a dignified life from it the rest all goes
[21:15]by doing that brothers and sisters you're not letting go you're just
[21:18]investing it for your so if we're able to do this brothers
[21:24]and sisters number one work for dignity and number two work to
[21:33]invest in your even your work from 8 to four 8 to
[21:35]5 whatever would be all how beautiful is that and then you
[21:40]tell me Islam is a difficult religion so look look at this
[21:47]lesson that Imam Ali teaches us that worship doesn't just come in
[21:51]the form of rituals even your job your work could be wor
[21:54]worship if you have the right attitude mindset and intentions so we
[22:04]said IM Ali is out doing worship working FAA is in the
[22:09]home she was sick the Hadith says why was she sick does
[22:17]not indicate IM Ali comes back home he sees fa is in
[22:24]her bed she's sick he feels the home is gloomy depressing because
[22:31]FAA at this time is usually active taking care of the kids
[22:35]cooking she's taking care of the house or rituals worship so if
[22:40]she finds FAA in bed that means there's a problem so he
[22:45]feels that emptiness in the house he goes to fat and he
[22:52]sees F sick is in pain and Agony he goes to her
[22:58]and he asks her this question he tells her oh my lovely
[23:05]fa what can I buy you what can I bring you from
[23:09]the sweets of this world is there anything that you are craving
[23:14]oh F and just with that sentence teaches us two lessons brothers
[23:21]and sisters about worship once again the f the second lesson so
[23:31]the first was that when you work that could be worship the
[23:34]second lesson when you come home that could also be worship we're
[23:39]not talking about prayer how spend some time with your family members
[23:47]with your wife and kids with your husband and kids if I'm
[23:49]now the wives are working and the husbands are taking care of
[23:54]the kids right spend some time with your spouse and kids Allah
[23:59]considers that as these are not my words traditions of the Prophet
[24:04]the of the Prophet it's a very famous Hadith says if you
[24:12]sit and spend some time with your wife and kids some family
[24:17]time anything that is considered family time you're having food you're having
[24:23]a discussion you're doing anything together he says this is better than
[24:33]doing in the you know is is when you go to a
[24:40]Masjid for 3 Days 72 hours non-stop worship remember like 6 seven8
[24:45]hours imagine 72 hours A lot of people do it the Muslim
[24:51]count sometimes I'll even see some some M here in the US
[24:54]they'll do it sometimes so he says spending time with your your
[24:59]family members with your wife and kids is better is greater in
[25:07]the eyes of Allah than what than doing 72 hours of worship
[25:10]but not here he says in my m the m of why
[25:15]does he say that because the Traditions tell us that two that
[25:19]you pray in the M of are equal to 10,000 raas that
[25:25]you play Pray elsewhere 72 hours of praying multiplied all by 10,000
[25:33]the prophet says go spend it with your wife and kids if
[25:37]it's either or Allah will consider that as what as and then
[25:42]you tell me Islam is a difficult religion I don't know how
[25:48]to be religious I don't know how to please Allah work spend
[25:52]time with your wife and kids is that too hard but let
[25:58]your intention be correct we're all doing this anyway brothers and sisters
[26:03]so why waste the theab you're not going to do anything extra
[26:10]you're just changing your perspective your motives your intentions that's all you're
[26:18]really doing even that is too much for some of us even
[26:21]that no it's too difficult I'm too lazy to change my intention
[26:27]okay you're too lazy to do something but now we're even lazy
[26:31]with our intentions spend some time with your wife and kids now
[26:37]obviously this has become very important this day and age because you
[26:43]find that many of the marriages that have problems today one of
[26:51]the main issues is that they're not spending the wife and husband
[26:57]are not spending enough time with each other I get a lot
[27:02]of appointments throughout the year marriage counseling divorce and whatnot and this
[27:08]is a consistent complaint especially from the wife is that my husband
[27:13]doesn't spend enough time with me work and what work and then
[27:20]sah with his friends or with his family members and there's really
[27:25]no time being given for the wife and the kids you see
[27:30]we said working brothers and sisters is good right Islam considers this
[27:37]as with the two conditions we said but the problem with some
[27:40]of us is that we exaggerate how much we work the amount
[27:44]of hours that we work is disproportionate with relation to the other
[27:51]tasks that we have in life work nobody says don't work in
[27:55]fact the imams and the prophet would discourage people not to stay
[27:58]home go and work but do not be a workaholic why work
[28:03]12 hours a day why and you don't even have a plan
[28:07]what are you going to do with this money once I make
[28:10]it once I reach 1 million then I'll think what to do
[28:16]with it life is too short there's too many things that are
[28:18]dear to us in life 12 hours just for my work so
[28:23]work but take it easy don't be a workaholic leave time for
[28:29]families it's all about time management Islam says manage your time wisely
[28:34]you have to incorporate some time for your family you have to
[28:39]incorporate some time for rituals for I you have to incorporate some
[28:43]time to spend with brothers and sisters in the community there are
[28:47]people that literally you will not see them for an entire month
[28:50]you ask them why work why are you working in this way
[28:57]why who taught you this this is worship of the dun when
[29:01]we become disconnected from everything and our jobs become our gods and
[29:07]we don't even know why we're working so much why to invest
[29:15]in the yeah I'm sure so just be moderate Islam says pleas
[29:24]time for other things so was when he outside the house he's
[29:29]worshiping Allah working when he's inside the house spending time with fa
[29:34]this is also worship this is also a way in which I
[29:39]am pleasing Allah subhanahu waala just try to be balanced in your
[29:42]schedule that's all that Allah subhana TAA wants he doesn't want you
[29:47]to pray the whole day so that's lesson number two two ways
[29:51]that IM Ali shows us how worship is so easy and it's
[29:57]not just ritual s work spend time with your family number three
[30:02]the third lesson that he teaches us here just this is probably
[30:06]just the first line of the Hadith and you see all these
[30:08]lessons the importance brothers and sisters of instilling happiness in the hearts
[30:15]of Believers the traditions of state that there is no act that
[30:26]Allah loves more than making someone happy how do you say make
[30:31]someone happy sometimes it's as simple as a word as a compliment
[30:36]as a sentence that you uplift somebody's Spirit IMI comes to she's
[30:43]sick he's not a doctor he can't really do much but the
[30:50]least thing he can do is uplift her spirits so that the
[30:52]difficulties and The Agony and the pain of her sickness would be
[30:57]easy Eed a little so he ask you this basic question what
[31:00]can I go get you can I buy you anything do you
[31:06]crave anything this is the most simple thing you can do but
[31:09]Allah loves this more than anything there's a tradition from IM where
[31:14]he says on the day of judgment when you are resurrected from
[31:18]your grave you see that with you Rises a figure that figure
[31:23]tells you hold my hand and follow me there are 50 stat
[31:28]on the day of judgment he will take you through every single
[31:31]station when you see everybody is panicking is anxious they don't know
[31:36]what's going on what's going to happen to them they're about to
[31:40]be tried this figure says don't worry just follow me you follow
[31:42]him follow him follow him until he takes you to the gates
[31:47]of paradise when you're there he says go inside you ask him
[31:50]are you an angel Allah sent you to do this for me
[31:55]are you an Imam he says no I am your act your
[31:56]Good Deed that you did what do you mean remember in the
[32:01]dya you made someone happy one day when they were having a
[32:04]miserable day and you made their day through a statement by spending
[32:09]some time with them by giving them some advice by telling them
[32:13]let's go have some coffee sometimes financially helping them but the least
[32:18]thing is a nice word that you said you made that person
[32:22]happy Allah that happiness that you that happiness that you placed in
[32:29]the heart of that person Allah has brought that happiness in this
[32:35]form to help you and save you on the day of judgment
[32:37]an average ordinary believer make them happy Allah will make you happy
[32:43]on the day of judgment this is an ordinary believer imagine if
[32:51]she is the greatest woman of all time where the Prophet says
[32:57]whoever pleases her has pleased me has pleased Allah subhanahu waala something
[33:01]as simple as a word a statement im as this is lesson
[33:10]number three a third way you can worship Allah without ever praying
[33:13]now you have to pray when it's Salah time right but I'm
[33:16]saying these are ways that we can worship Allah subhah wa taala
[33:23]and it's not through the normal rituals work with the two conditions
[33:28]spend time with your family and number three make someone happy is
[33:32]it too difficult to make tell someone a joke as long as
[33:38]it's a Halal joke right do a prank on someone as long
[33:40]as it's one of those peaceful pranks not the violent ones and
[33:46]you make someone laugh Allah will allow you to enter Paradise because
[33:51]of that joke because of that peaceful prank that you you did
[33:58]if you made that person happy what a beautiful lesson this is
[34:02]lesson number three three ways to worship Allah we learn from IMI
[34:08]and so asked what can I get you what do you crave
[34:16]oh daughter of rasool and it seems from this tradition that she
[34:28]was reluctant to reply why because FAA had a habit where she
[34:39]never she never wanted to burden Imam Ali with anything only when
[34:45]it was necessary even when he asks her she's hesitant she's reluctant
[34:51]the Imam has to insist oh daughter of rasool Allah I ask
[34:57]you for the sake of maybe the IM would have to invoke
[35:01]the name of so FAA is reluctant that IM would have to
[35:06]insist she does not want to burden IM Ali and this is
[35:14]one of the this is one of the qualities of a believer
[35:16]that IM Ali himself mentions in that beautiful where he speaks about
[35:23]the traits and the qualities of the pious the righteous one of
[35:31]their qualities is this the believer is means they're very light they're
[35:37]not heavy on you they're not high maintenance they're not always expecting
[35:41]you to do this and do that they they're very [Music] light
[35:49]but they help a lot and there's one letter difference in the
[35:56]actual letters but in the meaning there's a huge difference you help
[36:00]a lot but you do not ask other people to help unless
[36:02]you're in need this is a quality of a Believer meaning you
[36:08]give more than you take you give more than you expect from
[36:12]others this is a selfless human being and this was she would
[36:20]give everything to IM Ali but even one small request from Imam
[36:27]was too difficult for her so in the end after IM Ali
[36:38]insists says well because you're insisting there is one thing I do
[36:44]crave what is it she says I want a pomegranate if you
[36:48]can get me one the IM is so happy that FAA has
[36:52]made this request he goes out to the market and he realizes
[36:57]but the pomegranate is too expensive and now you can't afford it
[37:07]pomegranates back then were a delicacy they were not something that everybody
[37:11]could buy all the time even this day and age sometimes I
[37:17]go to some stores I see some signs in the grocery store
[37:20]each pomegranate for like $6 can you believe that $6 for one
[37:28]pomegranate $7 some of the more the bigger ones right if you
[37:34]want an organic non GMO and I don't know what probably $8
[37:38]$9 so even today pomegranates are not you know they're one of
[37:44]the most expensive fruits probably out there so Ali says he can
[37:47]he sees he can't afford it he decides to do what to
[37:55]borrow some money to take a loan just so he makes FAA
[37:59]happy even though he knew FAA didn't really want the pomegranate it
[38:05]was because he insisted he insisted and said okay Allah if you
[38:07]want to give me something give me a pomegranate but look at
[38:11]the love between IM and this is not something brothers and sisters
[38:18]that we have to see only in Hollywood and on TV and
[38:23]it it's all fake and acting IM Ali and live that beautiful
[38:26]lifestyle and they didn't do it through Miracles it's not like they
[38:30]were doing all these mysterious Supernatural things such that they live such
[38:36]a beautiful lovely life no very simple very simple instructions and steps
[38:42]that they took that every single one of us can do in
[38:49]our lives so he takes a loan he borrows money he buys
[38:53]that pomegranate he's so happy F has made Al's Day allahar by
[38:59]buying her a pomegranate have you ever heard of such a marriage
[39:07]brothers and sisters that when the wife asked the husband to buy
[39:11]her something she's made his day he's so happy that he got
[39:23]that pomegranate but that can only come brothers and sisters if the
[39:27]wife is is it constantly burdening the husband the other day I
[39:33]saw this picture it's a joke but even though it's a joke
[39:36]but it is reflecting a real problem that exists between a lot
[39:41]of paired couple there's a man standing outside of Costco how many
[39:44]of you saw it and he's holding one of those paper cardboard
[39:49]papers and you know like Beggars how they do it and he
[39:55]says I need help not because I'm a beggar or poor but
[39:59]because my wife has my credit card and she's in Costco and
[40:01]she's been in Costco for two hours so she won't leave without
[40:07]me having to declare bankruptcy if that's my relationship with my husband
[40:13]if I ask him for something that's worth 50 cents he's going
[40:19]to be irritated right but with fa when she never ask anything
[40:25]from not because she doesn't want or need anything but because doesn't
[40:33]like burdening anyone anyone then would run to go and bring something
[40:41]for it would be the most beautiful thing in the world for
[40:46]fa to say I want you to buy me something he brings
[40:52]the pomegranate he's on his way coming to the house he sees
[40:56]a beggar this beggar is crying and weeping and asking for help
[41:03]he sees finally Allah sent you I need some help I've been
[41:06]here begging for days nobody's giving me anything and then it seems
[41:10]like he saw that pomegranate the pomegranat that IM Ali had bought
[41:15]for fa he says can you give me half of that pomegranate
[41:20]half of it all of it I'm so hungry IM Ali finds
[41:25]himself in a dilemma now why doesn't know what to do because
[41:31]if he gives this for this poor person he'll go back to
[41:39]FAA empty-handed he can never do that but if he denies this
[41:44]man if he keeps it for fa that means he will deny
[41:46]this hungry man and keep him there and he had nothing else
[41:49]to give him so he's in a dilemma he doesn't know what
[41:55]to do you and I brothers and sisters have constant dilemas every
[41:59]day we don't know which fruit to eat first which to eat
[42:04]second we don't know should we slice it or should we peel
[42:10]it should we swallow it in one bite or five bites these
[42:15]are the dilemas that we have when we want to eat right
[42:20]how many of us come across this type of dilemma it's not
[42:24]IE or the poor person not even that do I give this
[42:31]to the poor person or do I go and give it to
[42:35]my spouse who requested this basic thing from me allahar these were
[42:41]the hardest tests for IM Al when you have that much knowledge
[42:49]andk this becomes your greatest challenge in life but IM aliam likewise
[43:00]had a habit but he that he would never ever deny anybody
[43:03]who would beg or ask him and especially if it was for
[43:10]food listen carefully especially if he was asked for food never not
[43:14]just IM Ali all the imams of do you know why it's
[43:18]not just because he was generous yes obviously there's a lot of
[43:21]generous people there's more than just being generous IM Ali would never
[43:26]say no to someone that would ask him for anything specifically food
[43:32]because of this fact I'll mention it through this Hadith a man
[43:37]came to the prophet one day and he told him y Allah
[43:41]Sometimes some people come and ask us especially you know it's it's
[43:43]Beggars or people that are used to asking what's my obligation the
[43:52]prophet said your obligation is if that person's hungry you feed him
[43:55]you feed her you give them money to to buy food that's
[43:57]your obligation how did the man reply he replied by saying but
[44:03]sometimes some of these people that beg they're not truthful meaning they're
[44:11]not really hungry and that desperate they're just greedy so I'm afraid
[44:15]that I give that money and it turns out to be that
[44:17]this person is what is not a truthful person who's asking you
[44:23]know what the pro Prophet tells him the Prophet tells him you're
[44:29]afraid that you may give that money and he'll turn out to
[44:33]be a liar said yeah he said but aren't you afraid that
[44:38]if you deny him he may turn out to be truthful I
[44:45]get it you're afraid that if he's a liar I've given someone
[44:53]who doesn't deserve that money that's one fear but what about the
[44:56]other fear what if he was truthful and you denied him aren't
[45:00]you afraid of that and the point that the prophet is illustrating
[45:04]is if someone ask you for food May if it's up to
[45:09]$50 and you gave that person the money and he didn't buy
[45:11]food what did you lose why are you afraid you lost nothing
[45:15]Allah will give you the reward you will reap the benefits of
[45:19]s which which gives you protection from harm it prolongs your life
[45:23]and Allah will give you the reward for it even if that
[45:28]person went and bought whatever if you don't know right you give
[45:30]that person the benefit of the doubt and worst case what you
[45:35]lost 20 30 40 bucks that won't break the bank so why
[45:38]are you even afraid but however so the risk is very low
[45:42]but the risk on the other side meaning if it turns out
[45:48]that this person was truthful and I deny that person is much
[45:51]much bigger the prophet said If you deny a truthful person someone
[45:57]who's really hungry then Allah may take away his favors from you
[46:04]it's not Haram remember if I'm if I paid my w my
[46:10]my Z this is this is extra I don't have to pay
[46:15]any person that comes and asks me for food I don't have
[46:16]to give them you don't have to and Allah doesn't have to
[46:21]keep on blessing you does he does he Allah says look you
[46:25]want me to continue my blessings that's the minimum I request for
[46:30]you never deny someone that's hungry so the prophet says the risk
[46:35]on the other side is greater that's why anytime someone asked they
[46:39]would give them why because even if there's 1% chance that this
[46:42]person is truthful it's not worth the risk when Allah is so
[46:49]generous with me his bouns never stop I have to all be
[46:54]the same way with other people and you know there's a it's
[46:59]a long story I'll quickly mention it there's a story about this
[47:02]that Abu hamali narrates the companion that narrates the Dua of Abu
[47:06]Hamza in Ramadan he says one day I went to pray with
[47:10]IM Z it was Friday he says I noticed the Imam told
[47:14]one of his servants that today is Friday whoever comes and asks
[47:20]for anything give them something do not reject anybody so Abu Hamza
[47:25]said yeah yeah IM oh anybody that comes and asks no vetting
[47:29]no questions what if they come they're wearing a uh a Gucci
[47:35]t-shirt you're still going to give him the IM says anybody I
[47:37]don't care says why he says because I'm afraid if I deny
[47:42]someone and they turn out to be truthful what happened to the
[47:45]family of Y will happen to me Abu Hamza said what happened
[47:50]to the family of yak he told him that y was a
[47:55]very generous man the prophet every day he'd slaughter a sheep he
[47:59]had a huge family they would eat there's always something remaining he
[48:03]would give it to whoever comes and asks one night a man
[48:05]by the name of the came and he knocked the door and
[48:09]he asked for food y didn't hear he was sleeping or whatnot
[48:12]and his sons were distracted he kept on knocking and knocking and
[48:18]he was starving he came to the house ofo Allah the messenger
[48:21]of Allah but nobody opened the door he left with a broken
[48:27]heart he raised his hand says Ya Allah I came to your
[48:29]messenger y just for some food and they denied me even though
[48:35]they all ate and they had some extra food and I will
[48:36]have to sleep with an empty stomach that same night Allah hasel
[48:44]revealed to Y oh your family has made a big mistake by
[48:52]Sleeping with a full stomach and the me that poor man came
[48:58]he was truthful he was hungry he was starving and you didn't
[49:03]give him anything Allah told him because of that there will be
[49:08]some changes in your life some of the good things that you
[49:11]were used to will be taken away from you it was not
[49:13]it was not a sin he didn't do anything Haram but Allah
[49:18]decided to to take away some of the good things that same
[49:23]night IM says Yousef saw that dream have you read Surah YF
[49:37]when he told his father about his dream that he saw the
[49:42]planets the stars and the moon and the sun doing sujud to
[49:43]him his father told him don't tell this to your brothers because
[49:48]of EnV and then every all hell was broken loose IM said
[49:52]that dream youf saw that night and the the tragedies began to
[50:00]unfold the next day all of that was sparked by what because
[50:06]that man slept hungry and he was denied from the house of
[50:11]so says that's why I'm always alert whoever comes to my door
[50:17]I run that shows us brothers and sisters to change your perspective
[50:22]you know what this story proves you need the beggar more than
[50:27]he needs you do you understand what I'm saying I need the
[50:32]person who ask let's not call him a beggar someone who asks
[50:38]I need that person more than he needs me why because if
[50:41]I reject that person Allah May it's not 100% but Allah may
[50:47]take away those good things from me right but if he he
[50:55]is rejected right he can always go to someone else I rejected
[51:00]him he'll go to you you rejected him he has so many
[51:01]people but if I reject that person who do I go to
[51:08]then Allah it's Allah that I've angered here so anytime someone asks
[51:12]you for help especially if it's the basic needs of Life Trust
[51:16]Me brothers and sisters I am doing myself a favor by helping
[51:22]that individual going back to the story of IM Ali why couldn't
[51:26]the Im Just walk pass by that person because the IM understood
[51:32]the importance of he understood that this is one of the greatest
[51:36]forms of worship to give food to someone that asks you for
[51:41]food so he couldn't say no he took the whole pomegranate and
[51:43]he gave it to that man what a beautiful this is lesson
[51:49]number four you want to worship Allah it doesn't have to be
[51:52]in the Masjid it could be by sharing some of the benefit
[51:55]factions of Allah some of the good things Allah gave you share
[51:59]it with other people but now he comes back home the Hadith
[52:06]says as soon as Subhan Allah the very first minute that gave
[52:15]that pomegranate to that poor man Allah brought down his shifa and
[52:20]Recovery upon FAA spontaneously because the shifa is from Allah the Imam
[52:28]gave the pomegranate and FAA was cured right away Imam Ali comes
[52:33]to the house he's so disappointed he's embarrassed because he came empty-handed
[52:37]he sees FAA is no longer sick she's smiling she's happy she
[52:43]comes to him she tells him yeah Ali I know you're disappointed
[52:45]but do not be because I am happier knowing that you came
[52:50]empty-handed I am happier knowing that you gave that because that way
[52:57]you get the best of this world and the next world she
[52:59]receive sh and the reward is safe for you for the how
[53:05]many of us brothers and sisters are that lucky to have a
[53:08]spouse that greets Us in this way that greets me by encouraging
[53:17]me to do more good to give more s versus is just
[53:21]about me me me why didn't you buy me this why didn't
[53:26]you buy me that remember the other day a husband and wife
[53:30]came or afan the wife came without the husband and she was
[53:35]complaining about the husband that he's not providing financially what is enough
[53:40]for her and she was especially especially upset at the fact that
[53:49]this man sends $200 every month to his father she wants me
[53:52]to talk to him to divert the money to her instead of
[53:57]the father so denying your wife if she's right this is wrong
[54:08]but do two wrongs make a right so let him deny his
[54:12]own father and what he's just providing $200 and that $200 is
[54:15]a big deal in the Middle East instead of encouraging him discouraging
[54:21]him from doing that okay you want to find somewhere that he
[54:26]can save cancel Netflix make him cancel his Netflix and Hulu and
[54:32]I don't know what why that $200 that he's giving for his
[54:37]father this is the relationship brothers and sisters that Allah hasel loves
[54:44]the one where the husband and wife both encourage each other to
[54:48]do good and this is exactly what Ali and had each one
[54:54]of them would constantly encourage the other to do what's right to
[54:59]do what's good to think about the greater goal versus just me
[55:02]me me me selfishness brothers and sisters even from the husband's side
[55:07]many times the husband is selfish if the wife works I've seen
[55:14]this the husband doesn't want to spend anymore let her spend on
[55:17]the kids let her spend on the house let her let her
[55:20]or there's even some husband who when the wife starts to work
[55:26]he wants to control every every single penny dollar that she wants
[55:32]that she has that she can spend it's all about greed it's
[55:36]all about me the Hadith of the Prophet says when you get
[55:47]married brothers and sisters 50% of your religion is complete why why
[55:55]is that it's because supposedly ideally you have married someone that will
[56:02]C that will act as a constant reminder for you to remember
[56:07]Allah to serve Allah to give this is the marriage brothers and
[56:15]sisters that Allah subhanahu wa taala loves this is what we're supposed
[56:22]to look for when I'm looking for a spouse one of the
[56:25]things to consider is will this person be a good partner for
[56:29]me to seek nearness to Allah subhah wa ta'ala if I want
[56:34]to embark on a spiritual trip is this the right person or
[56:38]no how many people think in this way this is the marriage
[56:42]that will make you happy brothers and sisters and that's why you
[56:47]see was devastated when he lost FAA she was only 18 years
[56:57]old she got sick again but only this time she was never
[57:01]cured her health got worse and worse until lost and he was
[57:10]completely devastated she left a bruise in the heart of am when
[57:17]she died that would never ever that would never be cured and
[57:24]that's why said those famous lines about fa these lines that contain
[57:29]absolutely no exaggeration he eulogized her in a way that I think
[57:37]rarely any man or woman can eulogize their partner in this way
[57:40]when she died he said he says wall throughout her life I
[57:57]can testify that FAA never ever she never ever made me angry
[58:04]she never disobeyed me even though I would never order her to
[58:08]do anything she never said no to anything I asked and she
[58:14]never made me angry or upset and on the contrary he says
[58:19]and I also I never angered her and I never forced her
[58:25]to do anything anything against her will and then he says these
[58:31]beautiful words he says he says when I used to come home
[58:39]I'm tired you come with stress I would look at the holy
[58:50]face of one look and I would forget all my stress all
[58:53]that negativity and stress and Agony it would all be diffused with
[58:58]one look at the face of Fatima this brothers and sisters is
[59:05]a spouse that every single human being dreams of and this does
[59:09]not come through any materialistic items brothers and sisters it comes through
[59:14]the ways that I mentioned by not being selfish by thinking about
[59:20]others by being an agent to assist your partner and getting closer
[59:27]to Allah subhah wa tala I come home all I need is
[59:32]to look at the face of fa I forget all my pain
[59:33]all my stress so now that FAA was gone where does IM
[59:39]Ali go how does he let go of all that stress after
[59:44]fa that's why life was so difficult for him to continue it
[59:50]wasn't just about love between him and F it was much more
[59:55]than that FAA gave him the comfort that he needed to live
[60:02]every single day so now when life got more difficult and became
[60:10]more painful was left without that pillar fa without fa being there
[60:17]with him for for him supporting him that's why when he buried
[60:21]her and he stood on her grave he said these heartbreaking words
[60:33][Music] [Music] he says that my my soul is trapped in my
[60:57]body my soul wishes that it could leave and depart this world
[61:04]because of how much I as [Music] f [Music] oh my lovely
[61:50]father this life has no worth after you I don't want to
[61:58]live after youb this is the man that would withstand the greatest
[62:06]of enemies the strongest of strikes the man that would never falter
[62:12]and fall but when he lost FAA he wished that he would
[62:17]die with FAA he didn't want to continue to live after FAA
[62:21]anymore he says the only reason I cry is because I'm afraid
[62:25]my life will be too long because the only way for me
[62:31]to be reunited with my lovely FAA is if I die if
[62:33]I die and joy he would stand on the grave of he
[63:09]would call [Music] her oh the love of my heart it is
[63:25]not like you for me to call you but you do not
[63:32]answer me why is it that I am calling my Lov Z
[63:33]but you are not answer me but you do not answer me
[63:38]is it because oh Z that you are buried 6 feet under
[63:45]it is it because of Z that they broke your ribs is
[63:54]it because Z that they attacked you and beat you from every
[63:59]side is it because of that your soul is no longer in
[64:10]your body and thus you cannot answer me my lovely Z almost
[64:16]died out of Agony over the grave of fa and IM Hussein
[64:24]says I I remember I was a young child I remember how
[64:30]my father would wipe the tears of his cheek when he was
[64:33]sitting on the grave of but there was no one to come
[64:38]and console him because he only had two pillars that could console
[64:42]him that had died only a few months ago and now his
[64:47]second pillar [Music] was that's why he said he said the fact
[65:02]that I lost my two greatest supporters and within a few months
[65:10]as the greatest testimony that this D is worthless is the greatest
[65:18]testimony that no friendship or companionship is eternal everything will come to
[65:26]an end
