[0:21]muham ald [Music] muham muhamad hin hinin Sal [Music] for the purification
[2:43]of the souls the enlightening of the hearts the acceptance of the
[2:46]deeds and for the hastening of the reappearance of the awaited Savior
[2:50]Enlighten your souls purify the atmosphere with a recitation of salaat upon
[2:57]Muhammad Muhammad muhamad Muhammad [Music] respected Elders sisters and brothers this is
[3:10]a dilemma that faces many Muslims who are at the workplace in
[3:15]the western world it's part of a discussion on a vice that
[3:21]Islam has come down hard upon and has been indeed practiced sadly
[3:27]by some Muslims and it is a sin that the perpetrators ofala
[3:35]and as and those who committed the atrocities were known to consume
[3:43]against those who are pure led by sitting or eating at a
[3:59]table when alcohol is consumed is one of those situations that many
[4:05]Believers face in their lifetime throughout the Western world as well as
[4:11]other places the recognition that emerges is whether you're in the world
[4:16]of banking or investment whether you are in the media or indeed
[4:19]in health care or sports or the legal Fields many a time
[4:25]you find yourself in situations whereby you are invited to a restaurant
[4:30]or a place such as a convention or a corporate conference whereby
[4:35]you're sitting in a table and at the same place there is
[4:39]wine that is being consumed many times when you are in these
[4:46]situations you are fully aware that the Islamic ruling when it comes
[4:50]to this agreed by both Shia and Sunni is that a Muslim
[4:56]cannot be indeed eating at the same table or indeed sitting at
[5:01]the same table whereby alcohol is being consumed many of times this
[5:06]poses a challenge for many Muslims the recognition is they say we
[5:15]are missing out on important conversations we are not being included in
[5:22]discussions of relevance in the company we are somehow being sidelined because
[5:27]we do not want to take part in this particular Gathering or
[5:32]indeed these meetings that take place in restaurants or perhaps the pub
[5:37]they say we are being disadvantaged if alcohol is Haram then why
[5:44]am I not allowed to sit at the same table where alcohol
[5:50]is being consumed I do not have any alcohol but why should
[5:57]I and how can I explain to a non-muslim the idea that
[6:00]I cannot not even be sitting at a table where an individual
[6:03]is consuming intoxicant such as wine it's one of those challenges that
[6:13]indeed require a discussion because at the workplace at the place of
[6:18]business and commerce there are many areas that affect the lives of
[6:22]people as Believers today we need these discussions because in the Western
[6:26]World there are of these situations that people find themselves how many
[6:30]many times in Q&A sessions people like me have been asked about
[6:34]shaking the hands of the opposite gender this is also one of
[6:40]the challenges that many people face in meetings in interviews in special
[6:47]Gatherings likewise there are Christmas parties there are Gatherings whereby alcohol is
[6:52]distributed so some say okay I stay away from for example sitting
[6:58]on a table can I go to these parties and stay away
[7:03]from the alcohol or attending these parties are not allowed as well
[7:07]these discussions are of the greatest importance because without a shadow of
[7:13]a doubt Muslims play an important role in many aspects in society
[7:18]we cannot expect Muslims to be excluded from these positions from working
[7:25]in different organizations and sadly we live in a country or in
[7:30]the West in World whereby alcohol is part of the fabric of
[7:36]society you find it on adverts you find it on the shirts
[7:38]of what of football teams I remember as a Liverpool fan I
[7:45]couldn't buy the Liverpool shirt for many years because of the alcohol
[7:49]sponsorship on the shirt when it comes to this you see it
[7:52]everywhere people consume alcohol for example in events football stadiums it's not
[7:58]something that you can easily run away from similarly you have alcohol
[8:06]in food alcohol in drinks therefore there are a number of these
[8:10]areas that are challenging some people said what about when it comes
[8:14]to air lines and being on a plane can I sit next
[8:20]to somebody for example who has just ordered a glass of wine
[8:22]next to me in the idea that if I can't sit on
[8:27]a next on a table where somebody's consuming Al alol can I
[8:32]sit next to someone who is drinking alcohol on a plane because
[8:36]the world of flights is also one that poses a number of
[8:38]interesting challenges can I work for an airline that serves alcohol for
[8:46]example some say don't worry I will not work I will seek
[8:49]to work for Muslim Airlines I ask you Emirates and Turkish Airline
[8:52]don't serve alcohol this is the world that we live in today
[8:58]in the recognition that by working for a Muslim Airline you can't
[9:02]Safeguard yourself from serving alcohol the world of flights also poses a
[9:10]number of challenges for Muslims not only when it comes to alcohol
[9:13]when I pray how do I pray the sometimes even how I
[9:18]present myself for example there was an individual who was called Jihad
[9:24]his name was Jihad he went on a plane with his friend
[9:26]they were separated they couldn't be seated together he friend sat next
[9:32]to a window seat he was Far his friend said to him
[9:34]when it's time for fer wake me up I'm going to go
[9:38]to sleep it's a long haul flight after a few hours when
[9:42]it was time for fer this brother who's called indeed Jihad was
[9:46]sitting there asleep the other person came to wake him up but
[9:50]couldn't because everyone else was asleep therefore he called out Jihad it's
[9:56]time I don't know what happened after in the flight but no
[10:04]doubt Muslims will come to these situations and many of us are
[10:10]able to relate to them there is a sense of frustration sometimes
[10:12]I get from people when it comes to alcohol and indeed participating
[10:16]in these gatherings there is a sense that you know what can
[10:20]Islamic law somehow be changed or reflective of some of these challenges
[10:30]that we face in the Muslim world can't the think about our
[10:34]situation is this ruling based on a deduction of for example something
[10:41]derived from a concept from the Quran or Hadith or is the
[10:48]direct rat on sitting or eating at a table where alcohol is
[10:53]consumed because it's an important subject this element of alcohol also sadly
[11:00]is affecting some of our youth some are being drawn towards this
[11:04]intoxicant by consuming some in some communities in the Muslim World in
[11:11]this country in other places we hear of incidents of substance abuse
[11:16]according to the World Health Organization we have a problem around the
[11:20]world when it comes to alcohol in 2019 there were 2.6 million
[11:24]people who died due to alcohol and substance abuse alcohol use disorder
[11:33]7% of the world's population suffer from it that's how many 400
[11:38]million people suffer from alcohol use disorder which includes alcohol dependence that's
[11:47]why I would like to analyze this subject in order to answer
[11:51]this question and to give some kind of shed some light into
[11:58]this challenging dilemma of being a Muslim at the workplace by answering
[12:03]a number of questions number one is Islam too harsh on alcohol
[12:07]and why number two how was alcohol prohibited and can we apply
[12:16]the same today can we go through a gradual process when somebody
[12:20]from the Muslim Community is unfortunately drinking alcohol number three of great
[12:27]importance and that is if God forbid somebody is a alcohol Drinker
[12:30]does that mean they should not be praying for 40 days does
[12:34]that mean that they should not perform their Salah because their Salah
[12:38]is not accepted number four what are the most common situations that
[12:44]you and I are facing that are related to alcohol number five
[12:50]what happens when I am at that situation what does Islam expect
[12:55]from me when dealing with the situation when I am invited to
[13:01]sit at a place where alcohol is being consumed what are the
[13:04]Islamic elements outside F that I need to be thinking about number
[13:11]six how do I tell people that I can't be cons sitting
[13:13]and eating at the same table what are the strategies and the
[13:18]tips to deal with this dilemma practically and number seven how was
[13:22]alcohol used by the enemies of the but especially those perpetrators who
[13:31]shed the blood of drinking wine is the culmination of sins the
[13:46]keys to the Disobedience of God and the mother of all falsehood
[13:53]this is a Hadith from the holy prophet muham if you examine
[14:07]the Holy Quran and the you will come across a clear stance
[14:13]that the religion of Islam has when it comes to drinking wine
[14:18]intoxicants and alcohol tell us if somebody does so IM will be
[14:22]taken away from their hearts for example it's worse than leaving an
[14:26]abandoning Salah drinking in to an will deprive an individual from the
[14:36]from the in fact our have said deriving from the of the
[14:41]that somebody who is an alcoholic or drinks alcohol you must not
[14:48]say Salam to them number one if they're sick you must not
[14:52]visit them number two if what if they are there to propose
[14:57]and you are giving the agreement for your daughter or sister you
[15:01]must not give that agreement number four you should not attend their
[15:06]janaza number five their witnessing in court is not acceptable on the
[15:16]day of their faces are darkened they will die thirsty they will
[15:24]die in a state of thirst they will be resurrected thirsty and
[15:28]they will enter Hellfire in the state of thirst these are some
[15:33]of the examples that we have from the world of Hadith question
[15:36]is this too harsh why has Islam come forward and made such
[15:42]important declarations regarding those who drink wine for example if we understand
[15:48]this then we can understand the issue relating to attending those particular
[15:53]meetings number one Allah waala says I have gifted you with the
[15:57]intellect the I have granted you the power of the intellect in
[16:04]order for you to be different from my other creation as the
[16:08]in Ali says the first thing that Allah subhanahu wa taala created
[16:15]was the he said to it come it came he said to
[16:17]it go it went he then said to it subhah waala through
[16:24]you I will reward people and through you I will punish them
[16:29]therefore the Arabic word for wine and intoxicant is in Arabic means
[16:36]something that covers something that conceals the idea that emerges today is
[16:44]when we see people who drink alcohol they will no longer be
[16:47]able to rationalize they will not be able to use their intellect
[16:54]hence you find for example many times they commit certain acts they
[16:58]may become in Rage they lose their minds that's why the have
[17:06]said because this is a favor from Allah you must not use
[17:09]something that what that clearly demonstrates your lack of gratification for Allah
[17:16]subhah waala's number two [Applause] was approached by someone please understand this
[17:34]because these discussions we need to have with our youngsters there are
[17:38]many today who are being influenced by pseudo Scholars even from within
[17:42]the school of there are many today who are being influenced by
[17:46]YouTube mananas who are being told this and this don't follow this
[17:54]don't follow Mar don't do don't wear these individuals be careful yes
[18:00]listen to what the have said in order for you and I
[18:06]to be able to be good examples for our children and others
[18:09]who ask us someone asked you're saying is it true that you
[18:12]said drinking alcohol is worse than stealing and committing fornication he said
[18:21]yes indeed I did why he said he says somebody who steals
[18:33]will just steal somebody who commits adultery will just commit adultery but
[18:38]somebody who drinks it's more likely that they will go on to
[18:43]commit fornication to be a thief to kill innocent souls and to
[18:47]abandon Salah therefore it's a Gateway sin meaning what meaning that it
[18:55]will lead to other acts of Disobedience that Allah subhanahu has clearly
[19:01]prohibited Allah wants to protect us wants to give us the honor
[19:04]and wants to grant us this dignity that's why the holy prophet
[19:17]muh he says the following 10 individuals listen to these 10 because
[19:23]some of them apply to us and I'll speak about one of
[19:25]them or two in the F discussion these 10 individuals are all
[19:32]committing Haram relating to alcohol number one the one who produces it
[19:36]number two the one who cultivates the plants so that it's used
[19:39]for alcohol number three the one who crushes the grapes number four
[19:45]the one who drinks it five the one who serves it six
[19:47]the one who transports it seven the one who delivers and attains
[19:52]the delivery receives the delivery number eight the one who sells it
[19:56]number nine the one who buys it number 10 the one who
[19:57]uses the income from selling wine all of these the prophet of
[20:03]Islam and Hadith shared by Sunni and Shia Traditions are individuals who
[20:10]are what perpetrators in the Sin of the drinking of alcohol and
[20:15]many have said this is what a major sin this is not
[20:20]a small sin to take lightly what's interesting is you and I
[20:23]have been told from a young age we have to do everything
[20:28]for Allah do you agree we told sincerity don't show off don't
[20:33]do things for the sake of others do you agree I remember
[20:35]one of my teachers once giving this example that if you want
[20:39]to buy trainers which are for a certain brand like Nike and
[20:43]a shop tells you is 60% or 80% Nike 20% something else
[20:48]you say no I want the original brand yes we want the
[20:51]action to be or the product to be Pure or the original
[20:57]yet Allah subhana wa tala we expects him to accept our when
[21:02]it's done for him and others how is that possible yet I
[21:06]found a from IM in a number of our books including he
[21:19]comes and says if you abandon drinking alcohol not because of Allah
[21:32]Allah will grant you and give you alcohol from Jenna so the
[21:36]man said to the Imam not for the sake of Allah how
[21:42]is that possible Imam says yes by Allah even if they stop
[21:48]not for the sake of Allah they're stopping Allah is happy with
[21:52]this a yes Islam stands in a very firm very strong position
[21:57]when it comes to this question when it comes to this prohibition
[22:04]can we follow the same trajectory and how this was introduced throughout
[22:08]the the life of the holy prophet or not what do we
[22:10]mean if you look at 7th Century Arabia they absolutely loved alcohol
[22:16]they would love three main things poetry wine and War these they
[22:22]enjoyed when it came to the prohibition of alcohol many of us
[22:27]have heard that it was done in state you may have heard
[22:29]majalis or read that it was not all of a sudden told
[22:34]to the Muslims that you must stop and you must not drink
[22:39]this is one opinion which is shared by many mu from R
[22:43]there are others have said the gradual element was not the prohibition
[22:50]was the enforcing of the prohibition this is different what do you
[22:54]mean there is one person saying there were four stages of the
[22:57]prohibition what are the four stages this is quite commonly known chapter
[23:03]16: 67 Allah subhana wa tala says I have given you fruits
[23:06]don't use them for intoxicant so it's a gentle thing for people
[23:09]then there was chapter 2 verse 219 they ask you about the
[23:21]element of drinking intoxicants and games of chance you say to them
[23:26]what it is of the greatest of sins and it has benefits
[23:31]for the people but the impact that is negative of it is
[23:35]greater than its benefit the third is chapter 4: 43 in Medina
[23:39]what happened was after somebody who is who had drunk a bit
[23:45]of alcohol from the Muslim Army he came to recite Salah when
[23:48]he came to recite which I know some people struggle because they
[23:53]go into autopilot they don't know when to stop so when do
[24:04]I say there is a continuous yes autoplay this individual he also
[24:12]fell into era when reciting Surah what Al he says instead of
[24:17]saying he says I worship what you worship because he was under
[24:24]the influence of alcohol therefore Allah revealed the verse chapter 4 vers
[24:32]43 oh you who believe do not approach praise and you are
[24:37]in the state of intoxication and finally we many of the come
[24:44]forward and say that in chapter 5 verse number 90 Allah subhana
[24:47]waa says oh you who believe the alcohol and the games of
[24:59]and the idols and picking of things by chance are all what
[25:06]actions of Shan they are all from Shan stay away from it
[25:08]so that you attain success they say when this Ayah was revealed
[25:14]that's it it was clear for the Muslims that there was Prohibition
[25:18]and no alcohol is now to be consumed however when we look
[25:21]at the situation and some other we are told that for example
[25:28]would say in meca people knew that drinking alcohol from the Muslims
[25:33]was prohibited they were very well aware so it's more likely that
[25:37]it was a gradual enforcing of the prohibition rather than a gradual
[25:43]prohibition itself never mind that today some people say when I see
[25:50]some Muslim who's drinking alcohol can I go through gradual today I
[25:53]say to him brother you know this might cost you too much
[25:58]cost of living crisis tomorrow I say to him you know the
[26:00]smell is not nice after a month I say to him you
[26:04]know it's something that takes away risk from you and after a
[26:07]year I say to him it's Hal no this is completely different
[26:12]to how the idea that was presented at the time of the
[26:14]prophet of Islam because it was part and parcel of society Society
[26:18]depended on alcohol similarly Society depended on slavery so Islam came forward
[26:23]the abolishment of SL slavery also took part in several States the
[26:29]question here that we have to ask ourselves is when somebody drinks
[26:33]alcohol what happens as far as the Salah is concerned meaning I
[26:39]have received many messages of people saying We Have Heard and you
[26:43]know the moment I read we have heard I stand and smile
[26:48]this we have heard is amazing why there are so many sources
[26:54]where they he hear all kinds of things whether it's Tales from
[26:58]their grandmother may Allah bless her soul or it's from some random
[27:03]message on WhatsApp one of the brothers yesterday said one of the
[27:08]mananas I love this what he said to me here he said
[27:10]one of the mananas came here and said don't worry about what's
[27:13]up worry about what's down yes in the idea that many people
[27:20]take messages on Whatsapp literally somebody said this so this could be
[27:26]right so they ask if someone drinks this alcohol do they pray
[27:29]for 40 days or not yeah it's very important because somehow we
[27:34]may be misleading people the answer is this there is a difference
[27:40]between kab acceptance of prayers and the action itself and its performance
[27:47]the and the we are told in of the individuals who drink
[27:52]intoxicants their Salah is not accepted for 40 days but they must
[27:58]still perform it it is W upon them to actually pray that
[28:03]prayer when they do it they they get a tick but it's
[28:07]not necessary that all of us when we pray our prayers are
[28:12]accepted our prayers are accepted if certain conditions are fulfilled why is
[28:16]this the case please understand this because if we're explaining it to
[28:20]someone they want to rationalize when you and I are giving immunization
[28:24]when you and I are told for example during Co wear masks
[28:28]or told eat certain fruits like kiwi because it has so much
[28:31]vitamin C what are we doing we're strengthening our physical body's immunity
[28:35]do you agree we are told our souls also have a layer
[28:44]of immunity in Dua we recite What Ya Allah forgive the sins
[28:55]that remove that layer of immunity for our souls in in other
[29:00]words just like a virus causes havoc in our bodies likewise when
[29:06]somebody commits a sin like drinking alcohol it violates the immunity of
[29:12]the Soul yes it breaks that protection that Allah subhah wa ta'ala
[29:17]has given you and I and therefore their Salah will not be
[29:23]accepted for 40 days however that's if they're persisting on the drinking
[29:29]of alcohol please understand this don't make people lose hope in God
[29:33]don't drive people away from the mercy of Allah if somebody stopped
[29:37]doing it and is remorseful if somebody turns to Allah in penitence
[29:43]and seeking forgiveness then without the shadow of a doubt Allah subhanahu
[29:49]wa taala will what will forgive their sins and Grant them no
[29:53]doubt acceptance if they are sincere this is something that we are
[29:57]promised in the Quran and in fact there is something even more
[30:02]I remember this beautiful story that when I heard it about 20
[30:05]years ago it inspired me in order to make sure that I
[30:10]always remember that the mercy of Allah subhana wa tal is open
[30:13]for the Sinners that the holy prophet of Islam one day in
[30:17]Medina he was walking and he saw someone in front of him
[30:22]drink alcohol wine the moment that person saw the prophet he felt
[30:27]embarrassed the that moment he raised his head towards the heavens and
[30:32]said yaah Allah if you save me from this situation I will
[30:37]never drink alcohol again the prophet came to him and said yah
[30:41]what are you drinking we have to check don't always assume and
[30:46]judge this is the prophet who knows is teaching you and I
[30:49]to check yes sometimes people see people wearing what these airpods or
[30:53]headphones and they're saying why are you listening to music they could
[30:57]be listening to a lecture yes many a times we have to
[30:59]double check so the prophet says what are you drinking the man
[31:03]in his fear said Yol Allah I'm walking around in Medina and
[31:06]I'm enjoying a glass of vinegar who drinks vinegar walking around this
[31:13]is not salt and vinegar crisps so the individual said I'm drinking
[31:17]vinegar said give it to me let me check it so he
[31:22]takes the cup he looks at it smells it and said yes
[31:23]this is vinegar the man looks at it and is vinegar he
[31:28]walls on the ground shaking the prophet said to him what's happened
[31:31]he said Yol Allah I have just witnessed a miracle because a
[31:37]few minutes ago this was wine now it's switched to vinegar I
[31:41]don't know what's happened the prophet Smiles he says Allah is the
[31:48]moment you had this your heart was so sincere Allah changed that
[31:54]alcohol to vinegar because he knows you are sincere in returning back
[31:58]to him then he recited this Ayah it is Those whom Allah
[32:10]changes their sins into Good Deeds Subhan Allah Allah says to the
[32:15]Sinners if you are sinful and you come to me I will
[32:21]change those sins into Good Deeds because of your sincerity therefore when
[32:25]it comes to this we must not shut the door of Toba
[32:30]upon Those who commit this the idea that exist exists here is
[32:34]what is that when it comes to and jurus prence there are
[32:39]a number of rulings relating to alcohol please focus on this because
[32:43]it applies to our lives the first can I go to a
[32:48]restaurant which serves alcohol or not and in this day and age
[32:55]there are quite a few who say we have halal meat can
[32:57]I go to that or not there are conditions number one if
[33:02]by going there you are not supporting the sale and the consumption
[33:05]of alcohol and you're not sitting on a table where alcohol is
[33:09]being consumed no problem that's the condition number two what about parties
[33:18]Gatherings Christmas parties and others in which alcohol is being consumed am
[33:22]I allowed to go to these no his eminence would you be
[33:29]not going to these obligatory precaution you cannot go he places a
[33:34]exception however he says unless by going there you will forbid the
[33:39]evil which I doubt that people will do imagine going to a
[33:46]party with your colleagues at work and saying oh people this is
[33:50]Haram how is that going to be the case unless you are
[33:56]invited to a Muslim party or for example relatives whereby you go
[34:01]and indeed do forbid the evil yes no doubt you can go
[34:06]there and tell them in an appropriate manner that this is not
[34:10]acceptable similarly when it comes to alcohol itself is it or is
[34:17]it when it comes to the alcohol used in perfume it's according
[34:20]to his Eminence when it comes to wine or for example beer
[34:27]or the other intoxicating drinks no it's indeed NIS what about if
[34:32]alcohol is found in food if today I for example pick up
[34:38]a drink or some chocolates and I look behind in the ingredients
[34:41]and it says alcohol am I allowed to consume it or not
[34:44]his Eminence had the ruling which is unique many of the mar
[34:50]do not have this ruling he says if the amount of alcohol
[34:52]is small and negligible EG 2 or 3% whereby it goes through
[35:00]what's known as means it's used up in the manufacturing process that
[35:05]ultimately in the final product it's what it's not something to feel
[35:10]or taste therefore there is no problem if you cannot find the
[35:14]percentage then you must not have it or indeed consume it what
[35:19]about those drinks which are known as barley or maltt drinks see
[35:23]those they they say alcohol-free so people look at them and say
[35:28]yeah if they're alcohol free then I can have it there are
[35:32]many out there in the market there is a stipulation here hisin
[35:35]say that it must not be which means a particular drink that
[35:43]usually causes intoxication or a degree of what drunkenness queasiness yes if
[35:49]it doesn't at all and you're sure of this it's not F
[35:52]and it's a drink that does not cause any form of drunkenness
[35:57]or quason then there is no problem in having it similarly can
[36:01]I be an Uber driver or any other driver and deliver products
[36:07]that contain alcohol or alcohol itself if you know that this is
[36:12]alcohol that you're delivering it's not permissible if you don't know you're
[36:16]being given something deliver it then there is no problem likewise on
[36:23]the plane if I'm sitting on someone next to me is what
[36:26]is drinking alcohol do I have to change my seat remember someone
[36:32]said to me once I called the flight attendant I said someone
[36:34]next to me drinking alcohol I am a Muslim and I can't
[36:38]be sitting next to someone who drinks alcohol the flight attendant was
[36:40]surprised she looked at me and said sir I've been working for
[36:45]20 years I've served alcohol to many Muslims this is this is
[36:50]new to me that you can't even sit next to someone yes
[36:52]Subhan Allah yes as the prophet of Islam says there will be
[36:56]a day in which people will see more as not only avoid
[37:02]thear they will switch it yes they will think it's normal that's
[37:06]why sitting next to somebody is not a problem in that particular
[37:10]regard somebody who is drunk their wo is void yes if somebody
[37:16]becomes in the state of drunkenness their becomes B and finally the
[37:24]10th M here is working in a supermarket as a cashier which
[37:27]sells alcohol meaning what it's not a supermarket that only for alcohol
[37:31]Supermarket like for example in America Target and Walmart here Asda W
[37:35]Ros these particular supermarkets that have alcohol as one of the products
[37:43]his Eminence says number one you must not be involved in stacking
[37:46]the shelves or organizing the area in which alcohol is being what
[37:50]purchased number one number two when you are at the kashia you
[37:57]must not be selling this alcohol to a Muslim and number three
[38:00]you must not be the manager or the owner of this particular
[38:02]place if you are just the person who works there as a
[38:07]Kash there is no issue when it comes to this that's why
[38:12]and when it comes to the Muslim dilemma of sitting on a
[38:14]table there are a number of key areas for us to reflect
[38:20]upon please understand so that it increases our Iman and why we
[38:23]should stand firm in this particular regard number one it is not
[38:27]derived from certain ayat based on using other tools there are clear
[38:35]categorical rat that say such action is Haram for example the holy
[38:39]prophet Muhammad Alam whomsoever believes in Allah and the day of must
[38:58]never sit on a table in which alcohol is being consumed similarly
[39:02]another Hadith says that the individual who sits on such a table
[39:14]will be the subject of the curse of Allah subhana wa tala
[39:18]not once but twice now when I look at this how do
[39:20]I deal with it spiritually how do I somehow change my understanding
[39:26]of this particular area so that I am an individual who deals
[39:29]with it in an appropriate way number one of great importance and
[39:34]that is I am forbidding the evil I am making a stance
[39:40]I am delivering a message when I am a Muslim I am
[39:43]carrying the badge and I am the ambassador of the holy prophet
[39:49]and the therefore my actions also reflect upon the religion therefore it
[39:54]is not only me drinking that I should not be doing but
[39:56]when I don't sit at a table where alcohol is being consumed
[40:02]I am saying that I am against this particular drink not only
[40:06]as far as drinking but any form of Association therefore it's about
[40:10]making a stance number one number two there are many today who
[40:15]come forward and say that when it comes to this ruling I
[40:18]don't understand it I don't fathom it it doesn't comprehend it's not
[40:21]something that is rationalized who told you Islamic law has to make
[40:28]sense to you who said this anyone you hear from the member
[40:31]saying that everything in Islam makes sense to us human beings challenge
[40:35]them ask them where's the evidence which says this there's no such
[40:40]thing I ask you when it comes to the element of Tas
[40:45]and surrender to Allah subhah wa tala which is what Islam is
[40:50]I believe in Allah I trust the holy prophet I believe in
[40:53]the after the prophet therefore what they tell me is going to
[40:56]be right whether I agree with it or not whether I understand
[41:00]it or not whether I fathom it or not and whether non-muslims
[41:02]understand it or not it doesn't matter I believe in Allah I
[41:07]love him I trust him therefore I will do whatever he tells
[41:12]me there are people today who are coming forward and saying that
[41:18]I must somehow be able to rationalize Islamic not at all Allah
[41:27]says in the that when it comes to Believers when Allah and
[41:31]his messenger has decreed something you don't have a choice but Moana
[41:37]are we robots mulana are we this Allah subhana T says I've
[41:40]given you a free will you are free to do what you
[41:45]want the moment however that you believe in me and you follow
[41:50]my teachings then yes then yes you succumb you surrender that's positive
[41:55]that's empowering that's actually something good because you are placing in everything
[41:58]in the hands of Allah and say Ya Allah I don't get
[42:02]it but I believe in you imagine its beauty imagine how this
[42:04]will be rewarding by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala similarly when it comes
[42:10]to Islam and seeing a Muslim a Muslim should not be in
[42:13]any shape or form associated with alcohol so maybe the ruling is
[42:18]based on this dissociation not only through standing up and being counted
[42:24]but also as far as the religion itself is concerned likewise I
[42:28]ask you you and I want Jenna don't we you and I
[42:33]want Allah's Mercy isn't it are we not willing to sacrifice are
[42:35]we not willing to give up something out there for the sake
[42:41]of Allah subhanahu wa taala so that he rewards us don't forget
[42:44]that risk is from him there are people who say you know
[42:49]what happens if I don't attend these meetings I will never be
[42:51]a CEO of a company I will never get that pay rise
[42:55]yes Allah waala says you're wrong because you believe that your risk
[42:59]in the hands of these individuals whereas Allah is the one who
[43:02]decrees your risk Allah subhana wa tal says Allah says if you
[43:14]are strong if you are loyal if you are patient if you
[43:21]are God wory and you place Allah first Allah will give you
[43:25]risk from Avenues that you did not expect from things that you
[43:32]thought wow where did this come from where did I get this
[43:34]particular risk from Allah says trust me and what and you will
[43:40]see the difference that's why when it comes to this some people
[43:43]say very well how do I handle it practically okay in my
[43:47]heart I begin to look at these points which is about Muslim
[43:52]identity Tas recognizing risk is from Allah all these I will start
[43:57]to believe in it and I will try to convince my heart
[44:01]but practically what do I do when it comes to my non-muslim
[44:03]colleagues who tell me why what is it that I am for
[44:08]example supposed to do number one tell them and communicate with them
[44:12]about this way beforeand meaning what don't put yourself in these situations
[44:17]whereby you're in an awkward position unless you did not expect the
[44:21]situation before yes communicate with them so they're clearly in the picture
[44:25]number one number to invite them yourself to dinner whereby there's no
[44:31]alcohol inshallah and the idea that you provide them with a platform
[44:37]whereby you can have these particular discussions whereby you're not necessarily missing
[44:41]out number three compensate for you missing out in these gatherings by
[44:46]having discussions at other times by building connections by having relationships with
[44:52]people who are in powerful positions and having these conversations at other
[44:59]places no problem and number four do not ever compromise your faith
[45:03]by going to these out of our uh office parties and these
[45:08]kind of things because that will give a wrong image to them
[45:11]you're not willing to come on a table whether it's alcohol but
[45:14]you're willing to come to these parties where there is music and
[45:19]dancing and other things going on stick to your indeed principles and
[45:22]that's why when it comes to alcohol without a shadow of a
[45:25]doubt it's a tool by Shan used by the enemies of Allah
[45:32]the enemies of the prophet and the in which way there are
[45:35]that says the first Islamic leader so to speak or individual who
[45:42]usurped the member ofo this wretched individual the first king as he
[45:48]called himself of mua was the the one who introduced the drinking
[45:55]of alcohol within the Muslim world after it's been ited and the
[46:02]of and a number of other sources they narrate from Abdullah IB
[46:10]B who said me and my father went to see muaah we
[46:16]bought with us wine had started having it then he gave it
[46:25]to my father and said this is the first time now that
[46:34]I am drinking it since the prophet of Islam made it haram
[46:38]but what was even worse than this that some historians say that
[46:43]muaah would have these intoxicating drinks and wine in private not public
[46:49]but his son the yaid had the audacity to drink in public
[46:55]had the audacity to bring different types of alcohol from different parts
[47:00]of the world that's all a crime that's all a that's all
[47:07]a spreading of facad yet there was other heinous crimes committed using
[47:11]alcohol against the in a that's meaning it's sound as well as
[47:23]narrates this heartbreaking R he says in the courtyard of yazid when
[47:30]the head of ab abdah was on a bowl when the head
[47:38]was on a bowl what happened yazid The Wretched had the bowl
[47:43]and the head on the ground and he started to eat on
[47:51]the table with alcohol he began to eat and drink wine remember
[47:55]that the next time you're sitting on on a table the moment
[48:01]he finished eating he took the Goblet and the cup of alcohol
[48:05]and started pouring it on the ground he wanted to pour it
[48:12]on the head of ABD but it wouldn't it would land just
[48:18]what just on the verge or on next to the Bowl where
[48:23]the head of Imam was whereby some of the alcohol would be
[48:29]splashed on the Blessed face of the grandson of the holy prophet
[48:33]imagine imagine the wretchedness imagine the extent of the evil that this
[48:42]drink which is NIS that this drink which is despised by Allah
[48:45]subhanahu wa ta'ala this wretched individual seeks to contaminate the Most Blessed
[48:52]head and the most purest head that which was kissed BYO and
[49:00]embraced by with this intoxicating drink no doubt yes that's why knew
[49:06]the extent of his danger that he must be fought that he
[49:10]must be removed because he had the mission to what to change
[49:18]Islam to remove all the pure teachings of the holy prophet of
[49:22]Islam and introduce alcohol and other things and that's why he said
[49:39]IM when he describes yazid the first thing he says is what
[49:45]yazid is somebody who drinks alcohol and somebody who is from The
[49:48]Prophet's family whom is the receiving end of the revelation will never
[49:53]give an allegiance to a man like him that's why on a
[50:00]day like this Imam reaches the land ofala the tell us the
[50:03]moment he reached that land his horse would not move he dismounted
[50:11]from his horse asked the people around what is the name of
[50:15]this land they said he said no it has another land name
[50:20]they said it is called na he said no it must have
[50:21]another name someone said to him this is the land of carala
[50:28]he said Ya Allah I seek refuge in you from trials and
[50:36]tribulations but wah you know what he said next breaks the heart
[50:42]of the lover of Hussein because AB ABD writes the tragic story
[50:46]of the himself he would then say it's here that our men
[50:55]will be killed it's here our children will be slaughtered it's here
[51:06]our women will be taken as slaves now imagine that moment where
[51:10]the bit have now sat down they have come they're Now setting
[51:15]the tents this is the moment they're introduced to the land of
[51:19]carala what was the moment that they returned tobala yes the next
[51:23]time they returned tobala what was going through their mind especially and
[51:31]Z these two holy individuals when they returned to what did they
[51:37]go through because the says to us that was next to the
[51:45]grave of abdah he he was blind he said to take me
[51:50]to the Grave I want to bid my respect towards my master
[51:55]abdah said I H the hands of jabir we started walking slowly
[51:59]until a few meters from the grave he let go of my
[52:05]hands and began to go fast towards the grave later I asked
[52:10]him how did you know where the grave is he said I
[52:12]could smell the musk and the beautiful fragrance from the grave of
[52:16]ABA abdillah but you know someone who is blind wouldn't go this
[52:21]way but ja went did you know what he did he threw
[52:24]himself on the grave of Hussein he placed his cheeks on the
[52:31]grave of ab abdillah and he cried Hussein Hussein Hussein then he
[52:36]says he says you are my beloved why is it that you're
[52:41]not answering me then he says I know abdah it's because your
[52:47]head is being severed from your body it's because your cheeks have
[52:56]been trampled by the Hooves of the horses at that moment says
[53:02]my master there are people approaching at this moment jabir says to
[53:07]him go and find out who it is because if it is
[53:11]the Caravan of then you are free for the sake of Allah
[53:17]that man goes towards the Caravan comes back he says to him
[53:21]jabir jab rise and prepare to welcome the family of the jab
[53:27]stands up IM Z sees jab from far he now starts to
[53:34]walk next to jab he comes next to jab jab Embraces IM
[53:40]says to him IM tell me what happened in this land jab
[53:44]wants to hear the MB wants to hear the tragedy IM Z
[53:50]begins to tell him what happened who was slaughtered who was killed
[53:54]but there is one sight one moment where jabir falls on the
[54:01]ground you know what that is when Imam takes jabir and holds
[54:04]his hands he takes him to a place and he sits them
[54:09]there and he says this is the place jabber says what is
[54:14]this place I cannot see feel any grave he says this is
[54:16]the place he says tell me my master I cannot see what
[54:21]is this place he says this is the place that the sat
[54:24]on the chest of my father Allah jabir now is wondering if
[54:34]Hussein was slaughtered why is he not buried in the same place
[54:37]he says to him my master Z forgive me I was next
[54:42]to the grave of Hussein you have bought me quite a bit
[54:45]of a distance why is my beloved not buried here Imam says
[54:51]to him jab if only you saw what the horses did to
[54:57]his body if only you saw how many ribs were shuted if
[55:00]only you saw how they broke his back at that moment Zab
[55:08]returns yes Zab is in carala after visiting the grave of Hussein
[55:12]the says she went next to the river of Al next to
[55:18]the grave of Abbas she sat next to the grave of her
[55:24]beloved brother the the poet indeed comes and displays this wonderful dis
[55:29]description says I can imagine Zab saying to Abbas oh my brother
[55:34]abas if only you were there to see that night they were
[55:42]the ones who made fire spread throughout the tents they made my
[55:48]dress Catch Fire they took away my outer garments of hijab Abbas
[55:53]Abbas if only you were there to see what Shimmer did with
[56:00]his fears with the children of Hussein oh Abbas I wish you
[56:06]were there to protect us and the head of abdah when it
[56:12]was on a spear it fell on the ground and I saw
[56:19]the horses trample on the head of Hussein we pray to Allah
[56:40]subhanahu wa ta'ala to grant us the the dignity the kar the
[56:43]strength the patience to be able to practice his laws in our
[56:50]lives at all situations we pray to him subhanahu wa ta'ala to
[56:55]Grant all those individuals who have transgressed and are seeking to return
[57:01]back Ya Allah grant them an open the door of Toba for
[57:07]them Ya Allah Ya Allah allow us to visit the shrine of
[57:09]abdah Hussein just like jab did allow us to attain the ofd
[57:17]Hussein Ya Allah Grant sh to all andin yah Hussein yah Hussein
[57:51]y hin Hussein
