[0:00]Rahim I begin in the name of the Almighty God the compassionate

[0:07]the merciful the one who has created everything an utmost perfection and

[0:13]may the peace and blessings of the Almighty God be upon his

[0:18]pure and beloved messenger the peak of his creation the symbol of

[0:23]humanity the holy prophet muhammad sallallahu aleyhi wa ala allah wa sallim

[0:29]from Medina Muhammad and his immaculate progeny of the elevate peace be

[0:36]upon them respected brothers and sisters assalamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh on this

[0:45]evening we honor the legacy of a lady who sacrificed everything she

[0:53]had for the sake of Allah for the sake of Islam and

[0:58]for the sake of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa honor the

[1:02]legacy of this lady in most Muslim communities has been forgotten throughout

[1:09]history she was the lady who stood by the Prophet when everyone

[1:15]abandoned him without her wealth without her sacrifices without her honorable stances

[1:25]those early Muslims would have struggled to survive and to migrate from

[1:32]Mecca to Medina it is through the blessings of her sacrifices and

[1:40]her wealth that Allah subhana WA Ta'ala gave victory to the Muslims

[1:45]that lady is si de Khadija salawatullahi Ali huh the wife of

[1:50]the holy prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ladies aditya according to a number

[1:54]of narrations passed away in the month of Ramadhan on the tenth

[2:01]day of Ramadan two or three days after Abu Talib passed away

[2:05]imagine the pain that the Prophet experienced when he lost two of

[2:11]his greatest supporters and that's he called that year the year of

[2:19]sorrow imal husband he loses a boot on it first then days

[2:22]later he loses lady Khadija that was a big blow to the

[2:26]prophet sallallaahu you Anna and this made it very clear to the

[2:29]Prophet that he could no longer stay in Mecca and therefore he

[2:34]he started to think about the migration to Medina and a couple

[2:38]of years after that allah subhanaw taala instructed him to migrate from

[2:45]Mecca to Medina let's examine the life and the legacy of lady

[2:49]Khadija alehissalaam in order to appreciate the sacrifices that she offered in

[2:54]the path of Allah subhana WA Ta'ala and for the religion of

[3:00]Islam for every Muslim today is indebted to her sacrifices ladies Adia

[3:06]alehissalaam was the daughter of khuwaylid he was a noble man and

[3:10]he was the son of Assad she comes from the tribe of

[3:17]Quraish from Beni Hashem because she is a distant cousin to the

[3:22]Prophet sallallahu Allah you are she meets the Prophet in her great-grandfather

[3:26]and the prophets great-grandfather pase pase was the great-grandfather of Khadijah and

[3:33]the great-grandfather of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi Wanda her mother was Fatima

[3:37]she was also a cousin of the prophet sallallaahu honey honey she

[3:42]comes from a noble family from a very generous family her father

[3:49]who waited was known to be very wealthy he was a successful

[3:52]businessman now when she was young some historians state she was about

[4:00]10 years old when her father who eilat passed away it seems

[4:03]he was killed in one of those battles possibly the Battle of

[4:06]food job or another battle before the religion of Islam he was

[4:13]killed and so she inherited the wealth of her father she was

[4:16]the sole inheritor and that's how she had a lot of wealth

[4:20]a lot of people wonder where did Sadie jolly Salam get so

[4:23]much wealth such that she was the wealthiest wealthiest businessperson in Arabia

[4:27]she inherited well from her father then through her wisdom through her

[4:36]business savviness she was able to develop that wealth and increase it

[4:39]she was so wealthy that sometimes when the caravans would prepare to

[4:48]go to let's say Yemen or go to sham to do business

[4:51]her Caravan would be greater than the caravans of all the Arabs

[4:57]combined that's how wealthy lady Khadija was but ladies lady Jo what's

[5:05]so special about her she never allowed this wealth to distract her

[5:09]to make her a corrupt person to make her an arrogant person

[5:15]to make her a racist person she was a decent woman who

[5:18]always helped the poor she had a habit of helping her relatives

[5:22]and no poor person would knock at her door and he would

[5:29]be returned she would make it a point to help anyone that

[5:35]she could and she was indeed a noble lady now what was

[5:38]the religion of Khadija is Salam before Islam or when she married

[5:42]the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa there are some historians such as dr.

[5:50]Hagan the Egyptian historian he claims that Aditya would worship the idols

[5:55]even after she married the prophet sallallaahu Adi won because he says

[5:59]that when one of her sons died either al-qasim or maybe Abajo

[6:03]she went to the idol and she started crying that I've lost

[6:07]my son and basically she was seeking consolation through the idol it's

[6:14]very troubling that a historian of his stature would mention something like

[6:19]that because we have no historical evidence that lady Khadija did that

[6:26]he's just probably assuming that number two we have evidence that lady

[6:30]Khadija was not an idol worshipper she was a believer in Allah

[6:34]subhana WA Ta'ala Envy one God do you think the Prophet sallallaahu

[6:38]alayhi wa ali who detested the idols who marry a woman who

[6:43]would worship the idols sometimes when the Prophet would make some business

[6:48]transactions in his business trips some of those people who were making

[6:51]deals with him and negotiating with him they would bring the name

[6:55]of their idols like Anna Rosa the prophet sallallaahu anyone would become

[7:00]so disappointed so upset he would tell them these are despicable names

[7:06]don't bring the names of these idols I want to do a

[7:10]drag transaction if you will bring the names of your the names

[7:12]of your idols you think he's going to marry a lady who

[7:16]worships the idols and when her son dies she goes on Christ

[7:20]to the idol is this possible do you think rasullullah sallallahu alehiwassallaam

[7:27]AIT's believed that she was a believer in Allah subhana WA Ta'ala

[7:33]and in fact she had a cousin or some narrations say an

[7:36]uncle by the name of waraqa had been no fan he was

[7:41]a Christian and he had translated the Bible into Arabic so he

[7:45]was well versed with the Bible and he was a monotheistic he

[7:50]did not believe in the Trinity he was a Christian who was

[7:52]on the right path of Prophet ISA listen up she had heard

[7:57]from the Bible through Worricker the idea of monotheism believing in God

[8:03]believing in prophets so she actually was able added she believed in

[8:10]the one God she never worship the idols this was the faith

[8:13]and Iman of lady Jonny has Salam she was so respected in

[8:20]Arabia she was considered a miracle age the princess of Quraysh whatever

[8:25]titles was also a paha the pure one everyone had respect for

[8:32]khadija the daughter of khuwaylid now when the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa

[8:37]li is growing older and he is now in his early 20s

[8:40]he was in the care of Abu Talib Abu Talib makes a

[8:47]suggestion to the Prophet during that time bani hashem were suffering from

[8:52]very difficult financial situation there was a drought in Mecca and Abu

[8:58]Talib really struggled to support his children and to support the Prophet

[9:04]sallallahu alayhi wa ala so Abu Talib gives him an idea he

[9:10]tells him my dear nephew Khadijah is a very honorable woman and

[9:14]I've heard that she's looking for an honest person to do business

[9:21]for her she wants to send a caravan to Syria to sham

[9:23]she's looking for someone who's trustworthy someone who's honest what do you

[9:29]think about taking this business opportunity and going to sham and doing

[9:33]business with her Caravan the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ala because his

[9:39]uncle Abu Talib suggested that he agreed to the idea he said

[9:44]yes my uncle I would like to financially help you out -

[9:46]I know we're struggling and you are struggling lady said you jolly

[9:53]Salaam heard that Abu Talib had made this suggestion to the Prophet

[9:57]because the Prophet had such an excellent moral character he was shy

[10:02]to go to Khadija and tell her I am the one who

[10:06]would like to take this opportunity he was hesitant he was reluctant

[10:10]so ladies Khadija heard that Abu Talib had made this offer to

[10:17]the Prophet so she sent someone to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa

[10:22]and that person on behalf of Khadija told him Khadija is interested

[10:26]in giving you this opportunity do you accept to be in charge

[10:30]of her Caravan and go to sham and do business the Prophet

[10:35]consulted Abu Talib Abu Talib told him go for it the Prophet

[10:38]accepted so he met later Khadija is Sara and she told him

[10:43]I will send two servants with you one of them his name

[10:44]was Mae Sarah and because you're such a decent person I am

[10:51]willing to give you double of what I normally give to others

[10:54]when they do business for me so she agreed to give him

[10:58]an amount of money if he would do business for her the

[11:03]Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ala left the city of mecca with that

[11:06]caravan lady said Yuja had a beautiful habit whenever her Caravan would

[11:12]leave for business she would immediately go to the Kaaba she would

[11:16]do that the laughs she would circle around the Kaaba and she

[11:19]would pray to the Lord of Ibrahim she would say oh Allah

[11:25]the Lord of Ibrahim give me the Baraka in this business venture

[11:28]look at the Eman of this woman look at the faith of

[11:32]this woman so the Prophet SAW Allahu Allahu Allah he goes he

[11:35]does business Allah puts the barakah in the caravan of the Prophet

[11:41]he makes a lot of profit so he comes back to Mecca

[11:43]when he comes back to Mecca he meets lady Khadija a sellout

[11:49]and he tells her he gives her a report of the business

[11:51]trip what did he sell what did he buy how much money

[11:55]he made and she was so jubilant to see that the Prophet

[11:59]is so honest and trustworthy and he made so much money but

[12:02]she also wanted to confirm that the Prophet was truly a man

[12:05]of good character so she summoned her servant may Sarah she told

[12:12]him may Sarah tell me about Muhammad what did you observe in

[12:16]this business trip may Sara tells ladies Khadija a as-salaam I saw

[12:20]wonders from this man I've never worked with a man who has

[12:27]the honesty of Muhammad who has the truthfulness of Muhammad and one

[12:33]thing that caught my attention we were traveling and we stopped at

[12:39]a village called Basra there was a monk over there a Christian

[12:47]monk Muhammad was sleeping or resting under a tree when that monk

[12:51]saw him and he saw his lap and he saw his character

[12:55]he came up to him and he told him there's something special

[12:59]about you the descriptions that I see in you fits the descriptions

[13:03]of the last messenger that Allah will sent for humanity lady Khadija

[13:09]is now hearing all of this and she was really impressed she

[13:15]knew there was something special about this man and she was basically

[13:19]gathering the clues that was one clue that the Prophet was special

[13:23]when may Sara reported to her what the monk had said that's

[13:28]number one number two she saw a dream that the Sun came

[13:31]down in Mecca and fell in her house so she went to

[13:37]Iraq I've been ofyn who was a sage a very wise man

[13:41]and she told him what up there he was her cousin or

[13:45]her uncle I had this dream what do you say he told

[13:47]her Khadija I'll give you the good news if your dream is

[13:53]a true dream then you will marry the most noble human being

[13:56]on earth that's the second clue that she was gathering the third

[14:02]clue my dear brothers and sisters ladies Khadija was a woman of

[14:06]scholarship unlike women in Arabia who maybe due to their circumstances were

[14:10]not that interested in education lady Khadija and Saddam was highly interested

[14:14]in scholars and scholarship and she actually had interfaith gatherings in her

[14:21]house she had a wonderful house you know basically a fancy house

[14:25]and Mecca at the time she was very wealthy oftentimes Christian and

[14:29]Jewish scholars would come to her house for a gathering she would

[14:36]always hear from them stories of prophets and she had heard she

[14:40]had heard from one Jewish rabbi that Muhammad sallallahu alehiwassallaam day she

[14:47]was sitting in her house in that interfaith session and the Prophet

[14:53]passed by her house that Jewish rabbi saw the Prophet he told

[14:57]Khadija can you call him I would like to see Muhammad speak

[15:02]to him he seems like a very interesting person ladies a teacher

[15:05]calls on him he comes he sits with the rabbi when the

[15:11]rabbi sees his a club and he learns about his ancestry and

[15:13]he looks at the signs when the Prophet leaves he looks at

[15:18]Khadija he tells her Khadija let me tell you something it seems

[15:21]this man is going to be the final prophet because in our

[15:24]boots it has been written that the final Messenger of God he

[15:31]will be born an orphan his father will die before even he

[15:37]is born his mother will die when he's young then his grandfather

[15:40]will take care of him Abdul Mutallab then his uncle Abu Thailand

[15:44]will take care of him she told him how do you know

[15:50]this he says it's written in our Torah it's whitson in our

[15:52]scriptures that the final messenger will be born an orphan his grandfather

[15:55]will raise him then his uncle and these descriptions fit this man

[16:00]so ladies and eg at this time she developed that divine love

[16:07]for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa his amazing character his honesty his

[16:12]integrity and he knew how to do business and it seems he's

[16:14]a very noble person and he could be the final prophet so

[16:20]Khadija one day she sends her friend in a visa to the

[16:24]Prophet sallallaahu Ali wanted to propose she was the one who started

[16:31]and initiated the proposal nafisa comes to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa

[16:35]knew she meets him the Prophet was twenty-five years old at this

[16:38]time she tells him o Muhammad you are such a decent man

[16:44]you're such an honorable person but you don't have a partner why

[16:47]don't you think of marriage she was very respectful and how she

[16:55]approached the proposal the Prophet sallallaahu I knew I had told her

[16:58]you know be specific what are you trying to say what are

[17:03]you suggesting she says I am suggesting that you go and officially

[17:07]propose to lady Khadijah she has expressed interest in marrying you and

[17:11]I believe this is going to be a fabulous marriage what do

[17:16]you think the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa li said to a nafisa

[17:20]let me consult my uncle Abu Talib in the end I respect

[17:24]his wisdom and opinion and the final word goes to him she

[17:27]says okay he goes to Abu Talib and he tells him yeah

[17:32]I'm my dear uncle Khadijah this businesswoman this noble woman has proposed

[17:37]to me what do you think about I'll have said yeah Muhammad

[17:41]my suggestion is we have seen nothing negative from Khadijah she is

[17:49]an honorable woman why not go for it so the prophets of

[17:51]Allah who only one who sends word that he has accepted now

[17:57]because her father was not alive who Eilat which the Arab tradition

[18:01]was to go and propose to the uncle her uncle amer aben

[18:08]Assad was alive so Abu Talib with all of bani hashim they

[18:12]go to her uncle am Abin asset in order to officially propose

[18:20]Abu Talib at the proposal he starts the session by praising Allah

[18:38]an average person or someone who comes from low class the Prophet

[18:43]was poor financially he was extremely poor a book I'd have said

[18:49]this man is the greatest man I've ever known this man is

[18:52]the most noble person in Arabia don't think that because he doesn't

[18:56]have money he doesn't have honor he has the greatest honor ladies

[19:03]Khadija agreed she said yes we agree that he has on her

[19:05]uncle also agreed that this man this young Muhammad is the best

[19:11]of Quraish he is the best of many Hashem then at that

[19:14]point on behalf of the Prophet Abu pilot conducts conducts the marriage

[19:19]contract between the prophet sallallaahu Anna and lady Khadijah now the time

[19:24]came to mention the dowry Abu Talib said I will sponsor the

[19:29]dowry because the Prophet didn't have much money he said I'll take

[19:31]care of the dowry lady Khadija said no allow me to sponsor

[19:36]the dowry the woman who were present there they got so jealous

[19:43]they rebuked her they told her come on you're even going to

[19:46]pay for your own dowry she said yes I love this man

[19:49]so much I want to sponsor my own dowry meaning I'll give

[19:52]the amount to the Prophet then he'll give me the prophet sallallaahu

[19:55]Allahu Allah had the final word he said no I don't want

[19:59]to burden abu talib and Khadijah thank you for the offer but

[20:02]don't worry I will give the so the prophet sallallaahu alayhi made

[20:07]the offer to give the dowry and to guarantee the dowry for

[20:13]lady Khadija yes Sarah some narrations indicate the dowry was equivalent to

[20:18]20 camels some narrations indicate it was equivalent to the value of

[20:23]about 400 dinars this was the dowry that the prophet sallallahu alayhi

[20:26]wa li was to pay lady Khadija alehissalaam even though she just

[20:30]said I don't want the dowry I relinquish it and allow me

[20:35]to sponsor it now because some woman became so jealous of the

[20:39]Prophet and of Lady Khadijah for this wonderful union they started spreading

[20:45]rumors that Khadija has married they a team of Quraysh the orphan

[20:51]of garage and this disturbed lady Khadija lisanna she told them no

[20:57]no one has the right to say this in front of me

[20:59]this is a very honorable and great man so at the age

[21:03]of 25 the Holy Prophet sallallaahu a Nevada marries lady Khadija es

[21:08]Salaam by the way one interesting point here the prophet's choice of

[21:14]marrying Khadija says a lot about the position of the Prophet towards

[21:18]woman once I was on the plane in Canada flying back to

[21:23]the US when a Canadian lady we got into a discussion on

[21:26]Islam she said I have a question to ask you I'll be

[21:31]very honest I don't have a positive impression of the status of

[21:36]women in Islam she said I'll be very honest I am impacted

[21:41]by the media it seems that Islam wants women to be locked

[21:45]up they can't drive they can't work is this true I told

[22:20]I told her that man was Prophet Muhammad sallallahu aleyhi wa le

[22:23]what does that tell you about his character and personality did he

[22:27]choose a woman who was locked up in her house or he

[22:33]chose an independent woman who had her own business and in fact

[22:36]she was the wealthiest woman in Arabia what does that tell you

[22:39]about our prophet that he wants women to be tied up not

[22:45]to have their intimate independence tears came to her eyes she said

[22:49]I've never heard of this story before your Prophet Muhammad he married

[22:53]a woman who was a business lady at the time in Arabia

[22:58]I said yes that's his first wife whom he chose to start

[23:01]his family with so at the age of 25 to Holy Prophet

[23:07]sallallaahu anyone marries Lady Khadijah how old was lady Khadija historians have

[23:12]a wide range of figures that they have cited we believe that

[23:18]the most accurate historical account of her age is that she was

[23:25]about 27 or 28 years old when the prophet sallallaahu allahu ala

[23:29]married her now some clay she was some claim she was 35

[23:31]40 even some have suggested 45 but that is not the case

[23:37]we actually have historians she I am certainly historians for example yakoobi

[23:41]he says that she was 25 or 26 but a theory also

[23:47]confirms that she may have been 27 or 28 ladies had you

[23:51]Johnny Sam was not 40 years old I know we're commonly told

[23:54]that she was but that is not the case she was actually

[23:58]27 or 28 years old when she proposed to the prophet sallallaahu

[24:02]on anyone that's the first point here about her age secondly was

[24:06]she married before she married the prophet salallahu alaihe honor or this

[24:12]was her first marriage other schools of thought basically maintained that she

[24:18]had married two men before the Prophet one was abou hala and

[24:22]the other one was a man from Benny makhzoom Abu Hana was

[24:28]from the tribe of Benita Meem and the other person was that

[24:34]was a person from the tribe of Benjamin soon they claimed that

[24:37]she was married to them then later she married the prophet sallallaahu

[24:40]honor you honor upon historically analyzing this my dear brothers and sisters

[24:45]we find that the lady said you jolly Salam was not married

[24:49]before the prophet sallallaahu anyone I'll share with you a very important

[24:53]clue over here lady Khadija was approached by the most elite people

[25:00]of courage to marry her Abuja had proposed to her she refused

[25:09]Abu Sufyan proposed to her she refused others from Piraeus proposed to

[25:14]her but she kept refusing them now these two people they came

[25:18]from very low tribes the tribe of penny Tamim was a very

[25:25]low tribe in Arabia and in fact one of these two men

[25:27]was a gravedigger he was a NEBOSH now is it at all

[25:35]possible that ladies a dejar is Salam she would reject the elites

[25:40]of Quraish and she would not marry them then a gravedigger from

[25:43]a pagan tribe who worship the idols she would marry him does

[26:02]and she rejected proposals from more important people in society that in

[26:05]itself as an indication these are fabricated narrations and that lady said

[26:08]you jolly salam was not previously married before the prophet sallallahu alayhi

[26:14]wa yes when she saw the character of the prophet sallallaahu honey

[26:23]honey coming from such a noble family she was drawn to his

[26:26]character and she agreed to marry her the first house in Islam

[26:33]was the house of the Prophet and lady Khadija it was the

[26:36]most beautiful home in the religion of Islam and even before the

[26:42]religion of Islam they spent so many wonderful days together he would

[26:46]always encourage her to give charity once Halima sadia the one who

[26:50]nursed the profit she came from her village and they were struggling

[26:53]from a drought she told him yeah Mohammed she took care of

[26:57]him she was like his mother I'm struggling with poverty can you

[27:01]help us out he told lady he didn't have any money he

[27:05]told lady Khadija are you willing to help her out she's a

[27:10]very decent lady she has a right over me she breastfed me

[27:12]when I was a child ladies aditya took out forty sheep and

[27:17]camels and she gave it to her that's how generous she was

[27:21]whenever the Prophet would tell her to sponsor a family she would

[27:24]never say no five years after their marriage imam ali IBN ABI

[27:31]talib ahneesah ram was born and because the Prophet wanted to pay

[27:35]back Abu Talib for raising him he told him Abu Talib do

[27:40]you have many sons and you're struggling let me take care of

[27:43]Ali let him grow up in my house I'll fully sponsor him

[27:47]I'll spend on him Abu Talib agreed and that's how imam ali

[27:49]ali said i'm grew up in the house of the prophet sallallahu

[27:54]alayhi wa Ra and lady said you Johnny hustle on then the

[27:56]birth becomes my dear brothers and sisters Allah sends the Prophet he

[28:00]receives revelation when he would go to the cave of Hira to

[28:06]meditate and receive revelation lady Khadija would send them some food he

[28:10]would be there with Imam Ali Ali Salaam in the cave of

[28:16]Haram she was the first person after Imam Ali to accept the

[28:19]message of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa and she was so happy

[28:23]that finally Allah has chosen her husband to declare the religion of

[28:30]Islam Imam Ali ABI talib describes the first three Muslims he says

[28:34]I swear by God many days passed and only the Prophet I

[28:38]am Khadija would pray together in JAMA imagine this beautiful scene of

[28:44]Jamaa the Prophet praying in Masjid al-haram behind him Imam Ali and

[28:48]lady said you jolly has Salam she really supported the Prophet in

[28:51]every step of the way but you know what happened my dear

[28:56]brothers and sisters after the religion of Islam lady said you just

[28:58]suffered all of her friends the women of Mecca they abandoned her

[29:05]they told her Khadija you stand with this orphan man who claims

[29:09]now he's a prophet shame on you why are you supporting him

[29:16]you should come and support our religion and our idols no one

[29:20]sacrificed like Lady Khadijah did unfortunately today you see Muslims they give

[29:25]preference to other wives of the Prophet wives who married the Prophet

[29:29]later on especially in Medina when they benefit from the status of

[29:35]the Prophet tell me what sacrifice did those wives having and in

[29:39]Medina without mentioning names honestly what did they do for rasulullah sallallahu

[29:43]alayhi wa no the Prophet was established in Medina he had received

[29:47]the revelation he had supporters they benefited from their relationship with the

[29:53]Prophet what did they sacrifice it's lady Khadijah who gave up her

[29:57]position in order to stand with the prophets of Allah Allahu Allah

[29:59]can I compare her with any other wife of the Prophet is

[30:03]this justice my dear brothers and sisters she lost her wealth because
