[0:10]audhu billahi min as-shaytan ar-rajim bismillah ar-rahman ar-rahim I begin in the
[0:18]name of the Almighty God the compassionate the merciful the one who
[0:22]has created everything in utmost perfection and may the peace and blessings
[0:28]of the Almighty God be upon his pure and beloved messenger the
[0:36]peak of his creation the symbol of humanity the holy prophet muhammad
[0:41]sallallahu alayhi wa ala allah wa salli ala muhammad ali muhammad and
[0:47]his immaculate progeny of the elevate peace be upon them especially the
[0:52]leader of our time the awaited saviour and imam and manager allahu
[0:57]ta'ala firaga may allah hastened his reappearance and make us all amongst
[1:02]us sincere and dedicated servants Allah subhana WA Ta'ala states in the
[1:12]holy quran surah Rahman al Rahim enema ilaha manera body ala ma
[1:18]indeed those who have knowledge those who are scholars they are the
[1:24]ones to really know Allah and the status of Allah sadaqa allahu
[1:32]la leee Levine illuminates your hearts and minds with a very loud
[1:40]Salah wat Allah Muhammad Muhammad indeed the greatest gift that Allah subhana
[1:48]WA Ta'ala has given to the human being is the light of
[1:51]knowledge what is it that enriches the soul knowledge enriches our soul
[2:00]knowledge allows us to see and perceive the greatness of the universe
[2:12]knowledge allows us to experience the glory of Allah subhana WA Ta'ala
[2:17]to come to know the status of allah subhanahu wata'ala indeed it
[2:23]is an infinite treasure that the Almighty God has bestowed upon the
[2:28]human being throughout history Allah subhana WA Ta'ala delivered to us his
[2:36]divine knowledge through prophets through infallible Imams and in the occultation of
[2:47]the imam allah subhana wa ta'ala delivers to us the knowledge that
[2:55]we find in our religion through pious and hard work hard-working scholars
[3:00]who have really saved the teachings of the a debate for us
[3:05]scholars play a very important role in our lives historically without their
[3:12]sacrifices we would not have come to see the lights of the
[3:19]and beit peace be upon them it is through their sacrifices that
[3:22]allah subhana wa ta'ala guided us to his path and hence we
[3:28]have many narrations in the book of coffee and other books that
[3:31]highlight the significance of the eylem of a scholar one hadith from
[3:40]le mames Adhikari salam States one scholar is tougher on beliefs on
[3:48]Satan than 70-thousand worshippers a worshipper has a great status in the
[3:54]eyes of Allah spano to honor worshiping God is significant but the
[3:59]worshiper only benefits himself he is worshiping the all-mighty God he is
[4:06]benefitting by connecting himself or herself to God but the scholar can
[4:10]guide thousands of other people and allow them to see the path
[4:16]of allah subhana wa ta'ala and hence al imam as-sadiq ajnanam says
[4:20]one scholar one eylem can be more significant than 70 thousand worshipers
[4:26]however the imams of a debate also gave us important guidelines to
[4:32]know the true scholars from the evil ones because throughout history many
[4:37]evil scholars have come who have caused millions of people to deviate
[4:42]who have taken advantage of people in one beautiful hadith the Imam
[4:48]Hani Salaam sums up who a real scholars you want to know
[4:53]who a real scholar is and the hilum woman Siddhartha Cao Lu
[4:58]who fear Allah or cow Allah who fear Allah the true scholar
[5:06]is the one whose actions confirm his words he implements what he
[5:13]preaches this is a true scholar and Muhammad and arathi was one
[5:19]of the great scholars of the past once he visits the holy
[5:26]city of Najaf he had authored a magnificent book on morality aflac
[5:30]and manners it is called JAMA asada it's a fascinating book he
[5:39]wrote this beautiful book and then he decided to visit the city
[5:42]of Najaf all of the Mirage and the scholars in the city
[5:48]of Najaf visited him except for one Grand scholar as saying in
[5:53]Mandi Mohalla Liu he was known to be a top scholar he
[5:58]did not visit him now according to social customs when a visitor
[6:04]comes from outside the local scholars visit him but saying it Mandi
[6:08]Mohalla Illume did not visit anafi and socially this was kind of
[6:12]insulting it was offensive and not it was puzzled does he have
[6:19]a problem with me for not visiting me but he's like that's
[6:22]ok he did not come to visit me I will go and
[6:26]visit him so he takes a group of his people and he
[6:31]goes to the house of a Sayyad Mandi Mohalla no man he
[6:34]visits him I say in Magdeburg Illume he ignores a neurotic instead
[6:41]of showing him respect standing up for him welcoming him warmly he
[6:47]kind of ignored him it was pretty cold with him people will
[6:51]puzzled why are you doing that you're a grand scholar and not
[6:54]is a grand scholar this is offensive and Nawrocki did not say
[7:01]anything okay now NRT visited him now it's expected that saint-mande baharlou
[7:07]goes and visits him back he was waiting but he did not
[7:10]come now Lackey said let me go a second time it's okay
[7:14]he does not want to visit me I will visit him look
[7:16]at the o'clock of the scholars of the true scholars for the
[7:20]second time he goes to the house of Saeed Mandi Mohalla room
[7:23]to visit him and for a second time he ignores him he's
[7:29]cold with him he doesn't welcome him warmly people were puzzled they
[7:33]told him the raki this man is insulting you this great scholar
[7:39]we don't understand you should be firm he said it's ok no
[7:42]problem before and Nawrocki decided to leave the city of Najaf he
[7:45]was just visiting he said let me go and visit him for
[7:49]a third time it's ok imagine he was supposed to come and
[7:52]visit you in the first place two times you've already visited him
[7:58]he said I'll visit him a third time he goes for a
[8:00]third time to visit him they tell Sayed Mandi Mohalla room and
[8:04]Nawrocki is at your door he's visiting you they say he starts
[8:08]to run towards the door even not wearing his slippers to walk
[8:12]through his courtyard he runs to him he opens the door he
[8:18]hugs him he embraces him he shows him amazing respect everyone was
[8:23]shocked what happened this third time why did things change when they
[8:29]sat down Sayed Mandi baharlou told him I know you're probably disturbed
[8:33]that the last two times I was offensive I may have disrespected
[8:40]you I did not show you any warmth but there was a
[8:42]reason you recently wrote a book called Jannah Sadat and I was
[8:50]fascinated by the beautiful content of this book how you talk about
[8:55]the a flock of Vienna bait the a lot of a true
[9:00]believer I wanted to test you to see are you one of
[9:04]those writers and scholars who write something for the people but they
[9:08]themselves don't practice it in your book you teach people that if
[9:12]someone insults you you go and show them respect I want to
[9:17]test you are you a sincere man or not and I found
[9:19]by Allah everything you've written in your book you implement and now
[9:25]I have so much respect for you and imam as-sadiq honest and
[9:28]i'm says that's the true scholar the one whom you find his
[9:30]actions his Ferren will confirm his statements his words his bowl these
[9:41]are the true scholars prophet isa any salam two thousand years ago
[9:46]he would command his disciples to always be around scholars to be
[9:51]around those who would remind them of allah subhanahu wata'ala in one
[9:55]hadith prophet isa he said i'm told his hawaiian his disciples they
[10:00]told him men no jealous in our gatherings who should we have
[10:07]whom should we constantly visit and have in our gatherings What did
[10:13]he say he says ji soo many you that karoku mala here'll
[10:16]yet or be with those spend time with those have a gathering
[10:23]with those when you see them you are reminded of allah subhanaw
[10:28]taala their mere presence reminds you of the presence of allah subhanho
[10:33]wa taala that's number one number two why as ii do come
[10:37]way as ii do fear and macomb multiple and whenever he speaks
[10:43]he gives you something some knowledge he increases your knowledge some people
[10:49]you set them for an hour two hours three hours what lot
[10:51]they don't give you a drop of knowledge prophet any scientist enough
[10:54]says don't waste your time life is too short believe me you
[11:00]need every minute be around those people whom you benefit from you
[11:03]learn some wisdom you learn a new experience you learn some knowledge
[11:07]and then the third one that Prophet Esaias Salam states it's a
[11:11]very beautiful one while you are a little come fill Authority I'm
[11:17]Allah and when you look at his actions he generates interest for
[11:22]you in the Arcana would you sit with these people you fall
[11:25]in love with the hereafter you gain interest in the afterlife these
[11:31]are the people whom we should associate with my dear brothers and
[11:35]sisters and hence the holy prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ala he says
[11:39]in one beautiful hadith that the hearts rust you need to polish
[11:47]them another example that he gives he says the sword when it's
[11:51]used or the knife when it's used it loses its sharpness you
[11:54]have to sharpen the sword how do you sharpen the heart because
[12:01]in one sense the heart is like a sword do you know
[12:03]how you might be surprised because we usually think of the heart
[12:09]to be very soft but the true heart of the movement and
[12:11]the believer is able to cut between Huck and Batlin it's able
[12:19]to decipher truth from falsehood sometimes the heart trusts it loses its
[12:24]sharpness and it can no longer show you right from wrong the
[12:28]prophets of Allah Allahu Allah says you must constantly gather and discuss
[12:35]you discuss your religious teachings so you sharpen your hearts they're always
[12:39]sharp they can show you right from wrong these are the recommendations
[12:44]of rasulullah sallallahu and the yuan and hence we find the Prophet
[12:48]the Imams of a debate they really gave so much efforts to
[12:54]raise a generation of true and pious scholars especially when we come
[12:58]to the time of an imam in baccarat salam ala mama Sadiq
[13:01]alehissalaam they started to educate their companions to be scholars they would
[13:08]give them the general principles of law so that they would extract
[13:15]the details ala muhammadin Batali's salam tells his companion a ban Eibon
[13:21]Talib he tells him a ban engine is famous Juden Medina often
[13:25]asked for any or him and you are fishy Artemus look he
[13:30]says a ban I want you go to the Masjid of the
[13:31]prophet sallallaahu Ali won and teach the people their rulings teach them
[13:37]about their faith see is educating him to be a scholar and
[13:41]he gave him the tools to be a scholar for I swear
[13:45]by Allah I would love it if I see my followers like
[13:48]you educated in religion and teaching others in one hadith an imam
[13:53]or valley salaam he says we give you the general principles and
[13:59]this sheds light on the role of scholars we give you the
[14:03]general guidelines elena el carro soon we give you the general principles
[14:07]while a Kamata freer and you the scholars you take our general
[14:13]guidelines and you extract islamic laws from them and you branch out
[14:20]this is the way the Imam Mahdi's Salaam phrases it we give
[14:22]you the pillars we give you the principles a new branch out
[14:28]when it comes to the details and hence Subhan Allah you find
[14:30]that the Imams of an inmate would teach their companions one statement
[14:34]scholars throughout history extract thousands of laws from one single statement for
[14:40]instance an imam Assad the kinesin on tells his companions Arara he
[14:45]tells him yasser a latin called Elia Pina Bausch ech it's a
[14:49]beautiful law do not negate certainty with doubt it's only a few
[14:55]words do not negate certainty of doubt Lanka the Latina Bichette forwards
[15:00]and Arabic scholars spend years analyzing this beautiful statement by the Imam
[15:06]Ali Salaam because you can extract thousands of Islamic laws from this
[15:10]amazing statement today's scholars call this the law of continuity or Ashlyn
[15:16]Estes hob an Islamic law I'll give you some very quick examples
[15:20]to appreciate how the Imams gave us these principles and how scholars
[15:25]give them beautiful applications let's say at 12 p.m.
[15:33]you did will do at 4 p.m.
[15:34]you doubt whether you invalidated your will or not did I sleep
[15:37]did I use the washroom you have a doubt but you are
[15:43]certain that at 12 p.m.
[15:43]you did the Levu according to the law of continually do not
[15:47]Gate certainty with doubt do you consider yourself on will do or
[15:53]no yes you do why because you have previous certainty at 12
[15:56]p.m.
[15:56]definitely I did though although now I have a doubt did I
[15:59]invalidate that although I don't know the Imam says don't negate to
[16:05]that previous certainty with a current doubt continue that previous certain state
[16:10]and consider yourself on Lulu let's give it an application when it
[16:14]comes to the purity of a room or of a dress let's
[16:18]say you have a piece of cloth or a dress that you
[16:20]know for sure it was nudges you know last week it became
[16:25]Nadja's it became impure blood was on it or something else was
[16:29]on it that made it impure then you doubt did i purify
[16:34]it or no what does the law of continuity state don't negate
[16:37]certainty with doubt you have previous certainty that the dress was Neches
[16:41]and now you doubt whether you purified it so the law of
[16:47]continuity says what considering edges you have to purify it I'll give
[16:50]you a third application that has to do with the length of
[16:53]day and fasting let's say it's 9 p.m.
[16:56]and you're not sure that the sunset or no is my watch
[17:01]accurate or no you don't know if the time of met lips
[17:03]set in what does not a lot of continuity see and what's
[17:09]the certain here the day you were certain 5 minutes ago 10
[17:16]minutes ago that it was day Magreb had not come yet now
[17:21]if you have a doubt whether mental upset in the law of
[17:23]continuity says you have to assume it's still day because that's the
[17:29]previous certainty that you have until you know for a fact that
[17:32]it's night that it's measurable so you cannot break your fast now
[17:35]let's switch the scenario to Fedya let's say it's 3:20 a.m.
[17:41]and you're not sure you're really thirsty you want to take that
[17:45]last sip of drink you don't know 3:20 is it fed Julia
[17:51]is my watch accurate as the calculation on the prior table emsac
[17:54]accurate is an abstract time is it fed your time you don't
[18:00]know you're really confused in that case doesn't have continuity state can
[18:04]you drink water yes you can drink water why because you have
[18:07]previous certainty it was night ten minutes ago 20 minutes ago at
[18:11]3:00 a.m.
[18:12]it was definitely night Fedya had not set in now that you
[18:17]have a doubt you can continue that previous state and assume it
[18:20]is night and you can eat until it's certain for you that
[18:25]it's federal now it's good to be precautious of course and to
[18:30]have an exercise precaution however it's not mandatory because we have the
[18:35]law of ustus hot you see have one statement from an imam
[18:38]Assad that Alastair an educated scholars to extract thousands of rulings I
[18:44]just shared with you three examples there are thousands of examples in
[18:48]Islamic law from one hadith of the a little bit look at
[18:50]the lights and their word Subhan Allah and so that's how they
[18:56]raised their scholars they educated their skull there the scholars who would
[19:00]come after them especially at the time of the labor and that
[19:03]is why my dear brothers and sisters we follow and emulate the
[19:07]scholars many people today ask and they have misconceptions who said that
[19:13]we have to follow a merger is there a verse in the
[19:15]Quran is there a Hadees that says you have to do to
[19:19]Khalid of merger in fact some of you will bring hadith or
[19:22]verses from the Quran that condemn the practice of TUC lead yes
[19:28]we do have such hadith we do have verses in the Quran
[19:31]that condemn to Khalid chuckle it means what that lead means to
[19:37]emulate someone to follow someone that's what it means and when we
[19:41]emulate the scholars by taking their religious rulings we call that to
[19:45]plead now there are verses and hadith that actually speak negatively of
[19:50]took lead not only tuk lead it's jihad as well if you
[19:54]go to the words of allah muhammad alayhi salam you find that
[19:57]in a number of traditions he's highly critical of HT hat which
[20:02]today we considered jurisprudence and a merger has to be a much
[20:06]to head who engages in extracting islamic laws through jurisprudence these people
[20:12]have misunderstood the historical connotation that that the Holy Koran condemns is
[20:19]blind emulation that the pagans would do when the prophet sallallaahu on
[20:23]Iran who would bring them signs why shirk is corrupt and wrong
[20:28]they would tell him look we don't care what you're saying we
[20:31]found our fathers worshipping these idols and we want to worship these
[20:37]idols the Quran says this type of tablet is wrong and this
[20:40]is what they are hadith of and bait prohibit us from doing
[20:46]don't follow someone blindly in the end use your intellect is this
[20:50]person a qualified person is this person representing truth follow him but
[20:55]if this person is representing falsehood don't follow him just because he's
[21:00]a family member because he's a relative or someone whom you have
[21:04]some personal ties with same with each to hide my dear brothers
[21:07]and sisters HT had at the time of an imam sadiq ali
[21:12]salaam what did it mean it meant to challenge the elevate and
[21:15]the quran and bring your own opinion the Imams of any debate
[21:20]condemned that but it's the heart that scholars are doing today they
[21:24]are looking at the a hadith of a debate and they are
[21:31]using their mental capacity and experience to understand what the imam ali
[21:36]said i'm said so there it's jihad is within the text as
[21:39]they say not outside not outside the text whereas abu hanifa the
[21:44]imam ali said i would bring him a clear example from the
[21:46]sunnah of the prophet from the Quran from the a little bit
[21:50]he said no I use my own opinion the Amanar I said
[21:52]I've says there's a verse series as now I use my opinion
[21:56]see his HT had came into conflict with the text whereas the
[22:01]Mirage and the scholars they use their it's jihad to understand the
[22:06]text and that's the fundamental difference throughout time my dear brothers and
[22:09]sisters it's very normal for words to change in the past took
[22:14]the lead and it's jihad had a negative connotation but today they
[22:18]have a positive connotation let me give you some examples in English
[22:22]today the word fun you all like to have fun right the
[22:27]word fun is it a positive word or negative word today is
[22:30]a positive word but historically in the English language fun was a
[22:35]negative word it meant to either deceive someone or cheat someone or
[22:40]to do a hoax that was the meaning of fun it went
[22:44]from negative to positive and this is natural language does evolve over
[22:49]time the word terrific what does the word terrific mean is it
[22:55]a positive word or a negative word / terrific means excellent you've
[22:58]done a terrific job a wonderful job but historically the word terrific
[23:02]came from the word terror which was a negative word which meant
[23:10]to terrify someone but over time it adopted a nicer meaning here's
[23:14]an interesting one the word bully today when you hear the word
[23:17]bully what do you think of our bully a bad person who
[23:22]bullies other people right a person who does injustice to other people
[23:26]intimidates them beats them up bullies but historically bully was a great
[23:31]word in fact it was an endearing word if he wanted to
[23:36]tell your spouse or your friend hey sweetheart hey my friend you
[23:39]would tell them hey bully but throughout history it changed the meaning
[23:42]same with its jihad and took lead historically they had a negative
[23:47]meaning because other schools of thought would blindly follow certain figures even
[23:53]though they were not on the right path and they would use
[23:58]the process of extracting Islamic laws it's too hard without the proper
[24:02]conditions that the prophet sallallaahu Halle waters laid down and so yes
[24:06]we do have in our hadith statements by the Imams that are
[24:09]critical of these two words but today that meaning has changed today
[24:14]when you say to plead that means you're following a qualified scholar
[24:17]who is spending time and effort to tell you what the Imams
[24:22]of a debate have brought to humanity so there's a big difference
[24:26]one final point about to plead before I share with you some
[24:29]fascinating examples from the lives of our scholars to show you their
[24:36]piety their sincerity their amazing a flock many people today are saying
[24:39]historically when the akbari's were the mainstream scholars we have osuni's and
[24:47]akbari's akbari's are those who take the hadith in a more literal
[24:52]way and they used to believe that all the Hadees in the
[24:57]four books are sahih hadiths to an extent or asked today o
[24:59]sunni scholars they're more critical they actually have to analyze each hadith
[25:04]look at the chain of narrators to see if that's hadith Asahi
[25:08]or not some people today come and say in the back there
[25:10]was no tablet at the time of Collini at the time of
[25:14]Sudoku for hundreds of years people did not do it at lead
[25:17]of the merger suddenly in the last two three hundred years we
[25:22]see she has scholars inventing tuck lead because they want the masses
[25:26]to follow them what is the answer to this misconception see the
[25:29]Ox bodies would they would use the word to plead it had
[25:34]a negative connotation and so yes the Akbari scholars of the past
[25:39]centuries they would say that we don't believe in tuck lead you
[25:41]don't do tuck lead you just follow the words of the Imams
[25:47]peace be upon them however people practically did tuck lead of those
[25:52]scholars because if you take the book of coffee and you gave
[25:54]you give it to the layman the one who's not experienced in
[25:58]the science of hadith in the Arabic language in the history of
[26:00]these narrations they cannot fully understand this hadith and then sometimes you
[26:06]have conflict amongst the hadith discrepancy you need a scholar to reconcile
[26:10]that discrepancy so even though the Akbari scholars said there is no
[26:15]tech lead they had a problem with the word top lead but
[26:20]practically speaking Muslims at the time they would refer to scholars to
[26:23]understand the hadith of a debate so in practice that lead did
[26:26]exist just like it does exist today some minor shifts have occurred
[26:32]some minor evolutions here and there but the spirit of tuck lead
[26:36]always existed my dear brothers and sisters and scholars are experts you
[26:39]don't need a hadith or a verse from the Quran even though
[26:44]there are in order to follow a magic my dear brothers and
[26:46]sisters because your logic your intellect tells you if you're an expert
[26:50]in a field you follow your expertise but if you're not an
[26:54]expert in the field you're not familiar with the Arabic language with
[26:58]the history of Islam with the Holy Quran with the hadith of
[27:04]a little bait if you have not spent years and years studying
[27:07]these texts then what does the intellect tell you follow a scholar
[27:10]follow an expert we follow and emulate the Manoj because they're experts
[27:15]doing the research on our behalf and this is something that our
[27:23]intellect dictates having said that my dear brothers and sisters in order
[27:27]to appreciate the sacrifices of our scholars I would like to share
[27:32]with you some fascinating examples from the history of our ulema so
[27:35]we can also be inspired by their Allah one amazing feature that
[27:42]you find about the pious scholars is their sincerity once during one
[27:50]of the corrupt regimes an oppressive regime one manager one scholar was
[27:59]attacked his house was attacked and he was a prolific writer he
[28:04]would write books he did not have enough money to publish the
[28:09]books so he would just write them and then store them in
[28:13]a container and if Allah wills one day he would publish them
[28:16]if someone comes and funds his projects so one day the soldiers
[28:19]the troops from the government they come and they confiscate that container
[28:24]of books he had a few containers they confiscated one of them
[28:29]they took his books imagine for days months and years you sit
[28:33]from your time from your hard work you write books you do
[28:39]research and then that is stolen from you many years pass by
[28:42]until one day a chef comes and visits the scholar this marriage'
[28:50]he tells him say it I have a confession to make he
[28:54]says what he says this is very difficult for me to say
[28:57]but I will say it because I need you to forgive me
[29:00]if you don't forgive me Allah won't forgive me he says what
[29:02]did you do he says I have wronged you he's like how
[29:07]he says remember years ago in that ensign when troops came to
[29:11]your house and they stole your books like yeah what does that
[29:14]have to do with you he's like well later on somehow I
[29:19]found access to that container and I saw that these were your
[29:23]books and they were not published they were by your handwriting and
[29:30]I thought to myself you know what this is the only copy
[29:33]he doesn't have any other copies it's not a published book I
[29:38]flipped through the book I found it a beautiful book a fascinating
[29:41]book a fascinating book so I saw and the shaitaan played with
[29:44]my head let me publish it in my name who's going to
[29:48]know so I took one of your books one book and I
[29:53]published it in my name and now I feel very regretful so
[29:55]I'm coming here so you can forgive me he said the Marja
[30:01]lowered his head he was thinking then he called on one of
[30:04]his aides or servants who works in his office he said something
[30:09]to him he was wondering what's going on what is he asking
[30:12]for is he asking for a stick to beat me up as
[30:15]we would do probably imagine you write a book and then someone
[30:18]not plagiarizes know takes the whole book and publishes in his name
[30:26]he says that servant went and he brought a notebook a very
[30:29]thick BIC notebook he said the magic took that notebook from him
[30:33]and he gave it to me he told him that book which
[30:38]you published was volume 1 this is volume number 2 go and
[30:43]publish it in your name it doesn't matter if my name is
[30:45]on it or your name these words are for the ATLA debates
[30:50]were all on the same ship as long as you're spreading the
[30:52]words of a debate I thank you for publishing it you see
[30:56]that lack of these true pious scholars can you do that my
[30:59]dear brothers and sisters or we always want the credit if someone
[31:05]takes the credit from us we go nuts we go crazy but
[31:07]look at the spirit of this merger he encouraged him he told
[31:12]him go and publish it because I did this for my masters
[31:15]they added bait who cares if my name is on it or
[31:19]your name is on it the point is to serve the added
[31:21]Bates peace be upon them imagine if we carried the spirit of
[31:25]service in our society my dear brothers and sisters what kind of
[31:29]a beautiful society we'd all have what kind of beautiful families we'd
[31:33]all have we're all serving a lion and bait and this really
[31:36]sheds light on the sincerity of scholars that's one amazing feature of
[31:44]the pious anima the second feature of these pious scholars is their
[31:48]amazing hard work do you know how hard they worked to do
[31:52]this research for us my dear brothers and sisters especially the past
[31:58]scholars they really did spend their time their sweat their energy day
[32:02]and night in order to teach us our religion as Sade matsutake
[32:06]rahmatullah Ali when he was writing his encyclopedia and most m/sec it's
[32:12]a beautiful encyclopedia and in Islamic law he wanted the book Johan
[32:19]el Kalam which was another encyclopedia but he was poor during those
[32:24]days he could not afford to buy it but he really needed
[32:26]it as an important source so he goes to one of his
[32:31]friends he tells him you have this book in your library in
[32:32]your house would you lend it to me give it to me
[32:38]I will use it I need it for some research I'll give
[32:41]it back to you his friend said no impossible I've had a
[32:43]bad experience I lend books and people don't give it back or
[32:47]they lose it so no chance am i giving you this encyclopedia
[32:50]he doesn't please I'm really doing important work he said no sorry
[32:56]so he tells him ok I have an idea I'll come to
[32:58]your house I won't take the book outside your house I'll come
[33:04]to your house I'll borrow the book in your room I'll do
[33:08]my research and then I'll leave are you willing to go to
[33:11]somebody's house for a few hours to do research look at the
[33:12]commitment his friend said no sorry my house is small and your
[33:18]presence in my house for a few hours is going to disturb
[33:20]my wife and family they won't be comfortable so I can't do
[33:25]that see that was me I would have immediately given up oh
[33:27]Allah you see I'm poor I don't have access to it but
[33:31]these scholars my dear brothers and sisters never stop you know what
[33:34]he did he came to the or of his house in the
[33:39]heat of Najaf in summer have you seen the heat of era
[33:43]he said okay I won't enter your house I will stand outside
[33:46]by your door on the doorstep and he spent days and days
[33:51]under the hot Sun sitting by the door outside his house on
[33:57]the doorsteps copying from that book and doing his research and that's
[34:00]how he wrote his animal stamp set you see the commitments my
[34:04]dear brothers and sisters how hard do they really worked these were
[34:09]the past collars and I've handed out many of them today are
[34:13]also continuing that tradition another example of a hard-working man was Alma
[34:18]LaSalle Alma's and Durrani he comes to this city of Isfahan in
[34:25]order to study Islamic Sciences under a sheikh muhammad taqi and madula
[34:30]see the father of the famous al-amin modulus II he came but
[34:33]he was very poor he wanted to study at night he did
[34:38]not have the money to own a single candle can you imagine
[34:43]a single candle but he wants to study he does not want
[34:46]to waste his time so you know what he would do he
[34:51]would go to the public baths they had a candle that was
[34:54]lit there and you know the path the public paths in the
[35:00]past you know they were not hygienic and clean and you know
[35:03]the way they are today imagine the public baths of the past
[35:08]they were the last place you want to go believe me just
[35:11]passing by you would have a headache he would go and spend
[35:19]hours hours by the public baths under the candle in order to
[35:22]read and do his research you see the sacrifice am I willing
[35:25]to do that who was willing to do that my dear brothers
[35:29]and sisters so we find their sincerity we find their amazing hard
[35:33]work and now let me give you a glimpse my dear brothers
[35:38]and sisters of their zone of their amazing asceticism even though the
[35:43]world sometimes was at their disposal but they said no to their
[35:46]desires they said no to this world with so much conviction prophet
[35:51]ISA re salam has a beautiful statement the Imam the Prophet Esaias
[35:58]Salam he says the Deen are the golden coins money is the
[36:03]disease of this world is the disease and the doctor are the
[36:08]scholars money is the disease and the doctor is the scholar prophet
[36:16]Jesus re Salam says that he says if you see the doctor
[36:18]taking the disease for himself then don't trust such a doctor don't
[36:22]trust such scholars and really those pious scholars you see they never
[36:28]took advantage of their position for worldly interest for personal interests a
[36:32]Sheikh murtada I'm sorry one of the greatest mirage about 150 years
[36:37]ago in Najaf until today the seminaries are blessed by his research
[36:41]and work he was at the peak of humbleness and asceticism he
[36:48]would not allow the money that would be given to him by
[36:52]the believers as religious dues to be spent on himself or his
[36:59]family one day his daughter complained she came home she said to
[37:03]her mother and there was another guest that everyday when I go
[37:06]to class I see all these other girls they have several types
[37:12]of food every day they come with a new food sometimes they
[37:16]have two types of food but I my food every day is
[37:20]some bread and some yogurt that's it I'm tired of the same
[37:22]food over and over again same lunch every day she complained when
[37:28]a sheikh what's all that Ansari came back to his house his
[37:30]wife came to him and she told him look our daughter is
[37:35]complaining she's saying that every day I have the same lunch and
[37:38]she's tired and bored of the same lunch she wants to change
[37:44]a sheikh Motel outside he says ok I have a recommendation she
[37:46]can change he's like how they thought he was going to probably
[37:49]give her more money to buy fancier foods he said I have
[37:53]a great idea she wants change here's the change tomorrow let her
[37:57]just take bread only and then the following day only yoghurt that's
[38:01]a change and then the third day yogurt and bread here I
[38:06]have now a new suggestion for them you see how these scholars
[38:09]raise their families subhanAllah she wants change here's change she doesn't like
[38:14]yogurts and bread together let her just take bread let her just
[38:17]take yogurt and you see that's how they really showed their piety
[38:23]my dear brothers and sisters his mother the mother of Sheikh murtada
[38:27]Ansari one day she was complaining she told him all this money
[38:30]comes and runs through your hands and you give it to all
[38:34]others but you don't even spend on us you have a brother
[38:35]called monsoon it's poor why don't you give him now this is
[38:40]his mother he doesn't want to be disrespectful but at the same
[38:44]time he's so pious see these great scholars no one could pressure
[38:46]them even if your father tells you to do something that he
[38:51]felt was wrong was Haram was inappropriate he would not but he
[38:55]would respect his mother he said okay mother there was a safe
[38:58]box and the money would be contained in it and the key
[39:02]was in the hands of Chef mortal Ansari he would take money
[39:04]and give it to the poor he says ok you want money
[39:08]for our brother Mansoor here you take the key you go open
[39:11]the box you take out the money and you give it to
[39:14]him and it's the responsibility between you and Allah span of time
[39:17]he gave her the key she thought for a moment she's like
[39:22]no I'm not taking that responsibility he told her if you're not
[39:25]willing to take that responsibility then don't put me in this situation
[39:27]this was a sheikh what southern Ansari and this is how these
[39:32]scholars lived my dear brothers and sisters they were truly beacons of
[39:36]light when you look at their empathy how much they cared about
[39:39]those people around them especially those who suffered and I lament emini
[39:44]was one of them the author of al-hadi or this fascinating book
[39:48]that he wrote in defense of the will ayah and the Imam
[39:52]of amirul mumineen on his Sunnah one day I lament emini was
[39:57]standing in line to buy some bread when a poor man came
[39:59]to him he had a small shop he said I want to
[40:02]talk to you you have some time he said yes please as
[40:05]soon as the old man wanted to talk to him the students
[40:07]surrounded a lamb and a Meany and they distracted him this person
[40:13]asked him a question this person interrupted so he did not have
[40:18]a to speak to that poor guy so a lament I mean
[40:19]he got his bread he went home as soon as he arrived
[40:23]home he realized wait a minute that poor guy had something to
[40:25]tell me he had a request and I got distracted he ran
[40:29]back to his shop he told him I apologize you wanted to
[40:34]tell me something what is it that you want to say tell
[40:36]me he told him I lament I mean he I am suffering
[40:40]from poverty let me show you let me show you what I
[40:46]am wearing he removed his outer garment he said see I don't
[40:49]even have anything the the under shirt that I have is so
[40:56]coarse it is causing pain to my body and we have my
[40:58]wife and my girls are in the house they have one Abhaya
[41:03]one piece of cloth to fully cover them they cannot pray Salah
[41:07]together because they have to take turns who will wear the abaya
[41:13]to offer their sunnah if you can help me out hanami I
[41:16]mean II was so saddened for him he was so heartbroken for
[41:23]him he told him come right now this is unacceptable and man
[41:26]like you here in net Jeff suffers like that this is unacceptable
[41:29]let me take you and that man was a Sayyad he came
[41:32]from the line of the ended may peace be upon them he
[41:35]said come here I'll take you to the shrine of your grandfather
[41:39]ali IBN ABI talib and I will tell him what's happening to
[41:42]you he took his hands they went to the shrine of Imam
[41:44]honey even have you thought about his salon and he said oh
[41:48]I D you see your grandson this is how he's suffering do
[41:50]something for him one of the friends of a lament and mean
[41:54]he sees him at the shrine he tells him I have good
[41:56]news for you ala nabina was also poor and he needed all
[41:59]the money to fund his works and projects he would do research
[42:05]he doesn't have good news for you one tribal leader who's wealthy
[42:08]he sent you a personal gift 30 dinars 30 dinars you know
[42:13]how much that meant money that was at the time you could
[42:16]almost buy a house with it he took the money he looked
[42:20]at the shrine of ali IBN ABI talib he said oh honey
[42:22]you answered the prayer right now he took all the 30 dinars
[42:26]and he gave it to this poor man he tells here you're
[42:29]a grandfather I never thought of answered you now the gift was
[42:32]for Alamelu meanie not for him but see the empathy the care
[42:34]that they have and subhanAllah you will find many of these pious
[42:40]scholars even when they used to give the poor they would protect
[42:43]the dignity of the poor I say a doddle kali was seen
[42:48]by some students going to a shop owner who would sell some
[42:52]vegetables he once went to buy some lettuce so one student followed
[42:59]him to see what is he buying he says I saw said
[43:00]honey loudly when he looked inside the box to buy some lettuce
[43:05]he picked the worst type of lettuce in there the one that
[43:08]had withered it was not fresh he took all those and he
[43:12]bought them normally we do the exact opposite when you want to
[43:15]pick fruits you choose the best ones he said I followed him
[43:19]I told him I haven't I have a question what you did
[43:20]was pretty unusual can you explain to me why you did that
[43:24]why did you do that you did not take the fresh lettuce
[43:29]you took the one that's about to rot who wasn't trying but
[43:35]it was withering it wasn't fresh he said I want to help
[43:38]out the shop owner because he's extremely poor and I know nobody
[43:41]buys this lettuce in the end he's going to throw it away
[43:45]if I give him money he might feel saddened that I am
[43:51]treating him like a poor person I want to protect his dignity
[43:54]so I come and I buy the lettuce that's not fresh and
[43:58]that's my way of helping him out because if I don't buy
[44:02]it it goes up in the bin it adds up in the
[44:03]trash and as for me it doesn't matter for me whether I
[44:08]eat the fresh one or not the one that's so fresh in
[44:12]the end it's one stomach and on the day of judgement it
[44:14]doesn't really matter what I ate in this world look at the
[44:18]ethnic look at the piety of these scholars my dear brothers and
[44:21]sisters how much they did to protect the dignity of others and
[44:24]to preserve their own dignity I conclude with this last fascinating story
[44:33]of a great scholar as Sayyed Ahmad Rajat al cabone II he
[44:38]says I want to measured I was extremely poor to the point
[44:42]where I would go into the streets and I would see the
[44:47]skin of watermelon thrown into the street by people I would collect
[44:51]it wash it and eat it that was my food do you
[44:55]know how these scholars struggled my dear brothers and sisters sleep one
[45:00]night hungry you'll understand what it means let your children one night
[45:04]be hungry you'll understand what it means he says I didn't have
[45:08]food for months my food I would go out to the streets
[45:10]people would throw the skin of the watermelon in the street I
[45:16]would pick that up and I would wash it and eat it
[45:17]until one day I became so weak hunger had really weakened me
[45:26]I went to messages go harshad right by the shrine of an
[45:29]imam arrazi Serra and I was praying but I did not have
[45:34]the energy to stand up and pray I would do my Salah
[45:36]from Jerusalem down a wealthy businessman passed by he saw me I'm
[45:45]not an old person he was a youthful man he saw me
[45:47]praying from Jerusalem so he came up to me told me excuse
[45:52]me what's the matter with you you're not an elderly person why
[45:55]are you praying from while sitting what's wrong with you he said
[46:00]if I would have told him that it's from hunger he would
[46:03]have given me all the money that I want but my dignity
[46:07]did not allow me to say that so I told him I
[46:08]just have some pain and that's why he even refused to tell
[46:13]that man what he was going through because of his dignity this
[46:16]is how thousands of our MA my dear brothers and sisters lived
[46:22]throughout history on such a night and as we come towards the
[46:24]end of the month of Ramadan let's realize that all the hardships
[46:27]that we go through believe me are a fraction of what they
[46:32]went through and in the end Allah Spano to Allah blessed their
[46:36]work because of their sincerity because of their hard work because of
[46:40]their sacrifices Allah Spano Tiana blessed their lives let's learn from their
[46:44]sincerity from their a flag from their hard work so allah subhana
[46:48]wa ta'ala will illuminate our path remember the month of ramadan is
[46:52]only beginning my dear brothers and sisters it's not the end for
[46:55]many it's the end this month is over I go back to
[47:01]my lifestyle no hobby the month of ramadhan is the beginning the
[47:05]month of ramadhan was a month to energize you to spiritually uplift
[47:09]you so that in the next few months you continue the state
[47:13]of spirituality and whenever you're going through difficulty just remember one story
[47:19]of these anima and you will realize that you are a king
[47:25]my dear brothers and sisters you are drowned in the nerman the
[47:28]blessings of allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala we ask Allah subhana WA Ta'ala to
[47:33]illuminate our hearts and we ask Allah to bless the souls of
[47:39]these amazing scholars who really sacrificed to bring the religion to us
[47:44]oh allah allah sayidina muhammadin wa ala nabina ba hurry [Music]
