[0:10]and this holy month of Ramadan as we are physically fasting from
[0:18]food from eating from drinking from a number of other acts we
[0:24]are reminded that every body part is also fasting with us our
[0:33]eyes are also fasting our ears are also fasting our tongue is
[0:39]also fasting this organ that we have the smallest organ the tongue
[0:45]is also potentially the most dangerous organ that we have most of
[0:51]the problems that you see in our daily lives in our family
[0:54]life and our social lives are caused by this tongue this tongue
[0:58]which we do not control this tongue which exceeds its limit in
[1:07]the month of Ramadhan one of our greatest challenges my dear brothers
[1:12]and sisters is to control this organ is to control the tongue
[1:16]we have many beautiful narrations from the idol debate peace be upon
[1:24]them that talk about developing the intellect the intellect the Apple that
[1:30]power to see right from wrong that power which allows you to
[1:34]prepare for the Arcana one of the most important tools to develop
[1:38]the intellect is silence is to refrain from excessive talking many people
[1:49]they have the habit of talking excessively of being loquacious to develop
[1:56]the intellect we need to exercise silence there are so many benefits
[2:02]to silence my dear brothers and sisters it helps develop the intellect
[2:07]and also the brain this physical brain studies have shown scientific studies
[2:12]have shown that two hours of silence lead to the creation of
[2:17]new brain cells can you imagine brain cells are very valuable and
[2:24]it's very hard to regenerate brain cells once they die but one
[2:28]of the acts one of the exercises that actually generate new cells
[2:34]in the brain is silence to be silent to reflect and to
[2:43]contemplate when we engage in silence it allows us to evaluate our
[2:47]lives it gives you wisdom it gives you insight into this life
[2:52]I know that we have this tendency to talk because it feels
[2:59]good when you talk and you're constantly expressing yourself it does temporarily
[3:05]feel good but it does a lot of damage first of all
[3:08]brothers and sisters the more we talk the more we sin that's
[3:12]the reality the more we start gossiping the more we back bye
[3:15]the more we wrongly accuse other people and this does a lot
[3:18]of damage one word one word sometimes that wounds someone's heart can
[3:29]leave an indelible mark and everlasting mark in their life that they'll
[3:35]never forget you know the Arab poet says very beautifully the difference
[3:40]between a sword and a tongue he says jalaja to sin an
[3:43]ela hell Tiamo sin an are those sharp objects like swords if
[3:52]you won't someone with a sword it can heal the wound can
[3:55]heal but then he says well I alte Mumma jalaja glissando but
[4:01]if your tongue injures someone sometimes that person never recovers from that
[4:07]the more we talk the more naturally we will wronged other people
[4:11]and secondly the more we talk we harm ourselves you know why
[4:16]research shows that when you're having a conversation with someone 60% of
[4:24]what you're saying is about yourself you're revealing information about yourself and
[4:27]on social media people who are talking on social media 80% of
[4:34]the things they're saying is about themselves revealing details about their life
[4:39]now the more you share information about yourself the more that information
[4:45]will come back and haunt you the more the more other people
[4:48]will use that one day against you why do that to yourself
[4:53]I know it feels good people want to always reveal reveal information
[4:56]about themselves these days subhanAllah even couples you find them going online
[5:02]everything they do together from their bedroom to I don't know where
[5:06]the street they're sharing pictures and details sometimes even intimate details which
[5:13]are not appropriate why reveal all that information about yourself how do
[5:17]you think others will view that is this really contributing anything to
[5:22]your life to other people are they really learning anything you're just
[5:28]bringing eyes to yourself in your life and freely giving information about
[5:33]yourself how many people have we seen brothers and sisters they tore
[5:37]their lives were ruined because of excessive information they gave about themselves
[5:42]not everyone out there in the world wishes you well there are
[5:45]people who are making a note of all these things that you're
[5:50]sharing about yourself and when the opportunity comes they will use that
[5:55]against you so have mercy on yourself the more we talk brothers
[5:58]and sisters the more we fall into sin the more were distracted
[6:05]it distracts us from Allah from the ask Allah and I'll give
[6:09]you an exercise try this next time when you sit with your
[6:12]friends just having your normal night talking get out a recorder and
[6:20]record that conversation that night that two-hour conversation that two-hour gathering that
[6:24]Sahara recorded just like you do when you sit with your friends
[6:28]don't change the topic because it's being recorded just be natural six
[6:33]months later go and hear that recording six months later and then
[6:43]you be the judge what percentage of what you said really was
[6:47]beneficial was in God's obedience was something productive you will find that
[6:55]90% of the things that were said were a waste of time
[6:59]or a distraction from allah subhana wa ta'ala we're a distraction from
[7:05]the action try it to develop the intellect brothers and sisters we
[7:11]exercise silence silence allows you to say what is necessary think about
[7:16]it if this is productive I will say it if not I
[7:21]will not and you know successful people we have this wrong image
[7:25]a lot of people think that to be successful outgoing in society
[7:30]you have to be talkative you're always talking making your points you
[7:35]know they call them extroverts that's what we think right but what
[7:40]do studies show the exact opposite very successful people in society generally
[7:45]speaking are not talkative they're more introverts because people who are introverts
[7:53]who give value to silence and contemplation they're not always trying to
[7:58]make their point and being talkative these people are better focused they
[8:03]think about what they say is this of any value or not
[8:06]successful people in society are not generally speaking talkative that's a wrong
[8:12]impression that we have so in the month of ramadhan brothers and
[8:19]sisters let us take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to exercise self-restraint
[8:24]and to control this tongue as much as we can it is
[8:30]very difficult it's our greatest challenge you know there's one beautiful hadith
[8:35]that states when you wake up in the morning all the body
[8:38]parts speak to the tongue this is symbolic of course they tell
[8:45]the tongue Oh tongue have mercy on us if you say good
[8:48]things we'll all be good and if you say bad things and
[8:53]you violate the laws of God you'll put us all in trouble
[8:55]let us exercise self-restraint and the month of Ramadhan and remember every
[9:01]word that we're saying is being recorded and we have to face
[9:04]the last part Allah one day maybe here in this life we
[9:09]can get away with a lot of things but not in our
[9:13]grave not on the day of judgement there is a beautiful hadith
[9:16]from the holy prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ali in which he states
[9:21]la capitale the sons for in Naju matter either tune the Shaitaan
[9:28]try as much as you can to exorcise silence to have contemplation
[9:32]for that is the best way to protect yourself from the Shaitaan
[9:37]wala ka la amber Edenic and that is the best aid for
[9:44]your religion silence protects your religion gives you wisdom it protects you
[9:50]from falling into so many sins so this is the month of
[9:52]Ramadhan and we take advantage of this holy month to exercise silence
[9:58]now there is one exception here brothers and sisters silence is highly
[10:06]praised however when it comes to speaking up the truth demonstrating the
[10:11]truth and repelling injustice we cannot stay silent in fact the one
[10:17]who stays silent when he has to speak up when there is
[10:22]an unjust act that is being committed in the society around the
[10:26]world this person is a silent devil we exercise silence from petty
[10:31]issues but when it comes to right and wrong to humanity to
[10:38]justice to unjustice to oppression we have to speak up my dear
[10:41]brothers and sisters if there is someone in your society who's being
[10:44]violated it could be a family member it could be a friend
[10:47]don't say no it's none of my business no do something about
[10:51]it our last panel Tata will hold you responsible if there are
[10:54]people suffering around the world we have to do something when it
[10:58]comes to justice my dear brothers and sisters we have to make
[11:01]a statement we have to voice our concerns we have to defend
[11:05]those who are being unjustly killed this is an obligation on us
[11:12]the holy prophet sallallahu alayhi wa is statesman as Mahalaya tam o
[11:16]be immoral muslimeen valachia Muslim if you wake up finding yourself you
[11:21]don't care about what's happening to other Muslims around the world the
[11:25]Prophet says you're not a real Muslim because then the Prophet gives
[11:30]us a very beautiful example he says the believers the Muslims are
[11:34]like one body we're all like one body if one body part
[11:39]suffers let's say you have an ear infection what happens to the
[11:42]entire body the Prophet says - the commander of one if one
[11:49]of your body parts is suffering the entire body responds through fever
[11:53]right when you get fever is it just one body part that
[11:55]has fever no the entire body responds and suffers that's how the
[12:02]believers are if there's one believer who's suffering everyone needs to respond
