[0:28]e e his topic for tonight is the destruction pandemic let's welcome
[1:15]she with three loud salawats Muhammad Ali muhamad e m [Music] alhamdulillah
[2:36][Music] [Music] AB [Music] [Music] hin [Music] m [Music] [Music] for the
[4:35]purification of the souls the enlightenment of the hearts the acceptance of
[4:38]the deeds and for the hastening of the reappearance of the awaited
[4:42]Savior Enlighten your souls and the atmosphere with the recitation ofwat upon
[4:48]Muhammad Muhammad muhamad respected Elders sisters and brothers this unfortunately has affected
[5:08]and gripped mankind more at this time than ever before it has
[5:13]been highlighted by the Holy Quran and the as a dangerous obstacle
[5:17]to the development of a Believer and a human being and it
[5:23]was prevalent around the time of the massacre of karbala yet indeed
[5:30]was one that fought by say sh that destruction pandemic is a
[5:34]term that I have come up with regarding a phenomena that many
[5:41]of us are facing as well as mankind around the world today
[5:45]it's relating to distractability lack of focus and attention when we look
[5:51]around the world today we recognize that our lives have changed in
[5:55]many different ways speak to may Allah bless the elders you'll ask
[5:59]them about the 60s and the 50s and the 70s and the
[6:05]80s they'll tell you how life was completely different to today today
[6:09]one of the main challenges that many of us will face on
[6:15]a daily basis is that we're constantly distracted there are things that
[6:20]draw our Attention our attention span is now much less than it
[6:23]was perhaps 10 20 years ago studies today have shown that on
[6:31]average a human being loses 2 hours a day due to distractions
[6:35]distractions are all around us we're distracted by what people say we're
[6:41]distracted by technology we're distracted by stimuli no doubt it is something
[6:47]that perhaps has existed and continues to exist in our minds today
[6:52]you imagine a scenario that for example you're sitting down to complete
[6:58]an important task such as for example writing a letter or fixing
[7:02]a doorbell or for instance helping an individual all of a sudden
[7:07]there is a ping in your phone all of a sudden your
[7:12]watch sends you what a message from somebody all of a sudden
[7:16]you remember I haven't replied to that person's message all of a
[7:22]sudden you get a call from someone who wants to speak to
[7:24]you no doubt today many of us will be able to relate
[7:28]to this subject I remember when I was was researching and indeed
[7:31]trying to prepare for this mag several months ago during the Magus
[7:37]I kept being distracted I Subhan Allah I'm speaking about destruction and
[7:41]I'm being destructed in the idea that it's not something that can
[7:45]easily be eradicated in today's world today scientists psychologists behavioral experts have
[7:50]come forward and said there is a devastating impact on the lives
[7:56]of human beings due to this phenomena that is increasing day by
[8:01]day meaning what today people when they are distracted what happens there
[8:06]is less productivity less efficiency therefore they will have low self-esteem they
[8:12]will feel somehow dejected because some of the work they're supposed to
[8:16]do is not being done and therefore it impacts mental health one
[8:20]of the reasons why we're constantly distracted is what's known as the
[8:24]gratification grip meaning what I for example come back from work and
[8:30]I want to relax I sit there and I stroll and I
[8:35]begin to look through for example social media because that gives me
[8:40]a sense of release from the difficulties I faced that day it
[8:46]also gives me an understanding of what's going on or indeed increases
[8:53]the dopamine in my body the happy chemical and therefore what happens
[8:57]is I begin to become addicted to this what do we mean
[9:00]today science has shown that due to this distraction that many of
[9:07]us are facing around us digital connectivity has increased because it's a
[9:13]vicious Loop what we do is because we're distracted we're distracted by
[9:17]things that keep us distracted and therefore as a result we are
[9:21]not cognizant of the idea that we are in a vicious cycle
[9:30]continuously being drawn by much stimuli that exists out there the recognition
[9:33]is today there are terms that we have come across due to
[9:36]covid pandemic most of us now what it means it means a
[9:41]phenomena or in the world of medicine a disease that spreads all
[9:45]around the plan Planet endemic means something that's local today when you
[9:50]recognize and you see science has said that what today when it
[9:56]comes to doing a task it takes 11 minutes for us before
[9:59]being being distracted to complete a task the moment we are distracted
[10:05]it takes 25 minutes to return back to that task some of
[10:08]you may be able to indeed relate to this and we recognize
[10:14]that it's truly a pandemic how it is not only prevalent in
[10:17]the western world it is something that is witnessed in many many
[10:20]countries when you visit for example Africa or the Indian subcontinent or
[10:29]the Middle East you recognize that there are many who are also
[10:33]suffering with this especially the younger generation I tell you how many
[10:37]times you've seen people when it comes to being on the plane
[10:40]without Wi-Fi or for example when it comes to sitting on a
[10:47]table eating with the family members people are itching they want to
[10:51]get their phones out it's as if they're the president of the
[10:55]most important country in the world and they have to make decisions
[10:59]and they're waiting for some kind of instructions people are now even
[11:04]when it comes to maalis and lectures there needs to be a
[11:06]study done because I believe for maalis and lectures today the focus
[11:13]and the attention is much less than it was before remember someone
[11:17]recently coming to me and said is it possible that you do
[11:20]as a one minute real 20 minutes is too much for me
[11:29]he said and the recognition that today people want instant gratification and
[11:32]they want things quickly when I was speaking to a social media
[11:38]expert he said to me the first 10 seconds of a Tik
[11:39]Tok video is all that it takes otherwise people cannot remain on
[11:46]that video they scroll to the next one that's why this is
[11:49]of the utmost importance that we tackle these social issues especially from
[11:55]the member of ashur and learning from say the member of Hussein
[12:10]is like an alarm clock it's like an Awakening tool for you
[12:14]and I a mam year after year is a glorious opportunity to
[12:20]discuss some of the prevalent contemporary challenges that you and I are
[12:26]facing in our lives present answers seek Solutions be able to to
[12:30]improve our lives going forward therefore I would like to discuss the
[12:34]destrction pandemic by asking a number of important questions number one has
[12:39]the Quran spoken about this or not number two what do the
[12:45]say regarding this number three what causes it can I just remove
[12:52]these particular tools that have been present today and stay without a
[12:56]phone or an iPad or an iMac or anything else and then
[12:59]not be distracted or are there causes that I need to understand
[13:07]number four and therefore subsequently if I understand what's causing these distractions
[13:10]what are the presentable Solutions in My Life practical lessons that I
[13:16]could take from the member of sh number five and that is
[13:22]what happened in the time of the 10th of muharam how the
[13:25]the idea of destrction was used by Ben as a tool to
[13:32]weaken the resolve of the people and how is this linked today
[13:38]and therefore number six how do we learn from the personality of
[13:42]the heroes of karbala in order to defeat this particular phenomena especially
[13:48]inspired [Music] [Applause] by the Arabic word for distraction is Al when
[14:03]it comes to Al is used 16 times in the Holy Quran
[14:09]an Arabic lexer what does he say he says is when you
[14:17]become preoccupied with something at the expense of what you are supposed
[14:22]to do in other words something that draws you away and makes
[14:26]you less focused in your objective when you examine the Holy Quran
[14:31]there is a fascinating discussion regarding distraction and L please focus on
[14:39]this Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says don't be surprised that today more
[14:43]people are distracted than last year and the year before because this
[14:48]is part of the fabric of this existence meaning what in numerous
[14:52]verses Allah links with this with this existence listen to these Allah
[15:00]subhah waala says verse number 20 Allah says know that this existence
[15:14]has been created and one of the challenges for human beings is
[15:18]that they're always subjected to things that will take them away and
[15:23]somehow make them lose focus similarly Allah says in verse 32 the
[15:35]existence of this is nothing except games and destruction Allah uses the
[15:45]tools in Arabic which means exclusivity to mean that this is serious
[15:51]stuff this is part of life get ready for it yes be
[15:58]prepared to be able to challenge it all the aat that speak
[16:02]about start with first then please understand this interesting twist in the
[16:08]Quran meaning what Allah wa says there are things that distract you
[16:15]mainly whatever takes you away from the remembrance of Allah subhana tala
[16:19]in Allah says ay number 34 when it comes to this new
[16:27]of Allah Allah subh says what the light of Allah is found
[16:39]in certain places in which Allah has allowed the new and the
[16:44]place to be elevated to be respected yes the question here is
[16:49]this n of Allah where is it found please understand this Sunni
[16:52]and Shia narration all narrate that the sah came to the holy
[16:58]prophet Muhammad [Music] wasam and they asked him where can we find
[17:08]this new is it in the houses of prophets he said yes
[17:12]one of them said is the house of Ali and Fatima one
[17:17]of them the prophet says what he could have said yes yes
[17:21]it's one of them he could have said maybe yes the prophet
[17:24]doesn't say any of them any of these two what does he
[17:28]say he says it's the best house in which you can find
[17:33]the light of Allah yes this is found where he says the
[17:41]prophet says it's the best house now when the Quran in this
[17:48]Ayah says the next Ayah says what 36 these people and those
[17:58]who follow them should be those that are not distracted by sales
[18:02]and anything else from the remembrance of Allah subh tala Allah is
[18:07]sending us a challenge you call yourself the Shia of Ali you
[18:13]need to correct your life in order to follow the footsteps of
[18:17]Ali and Fa that means be wary of the tools that are
[18:24]being what given to you in order to distract you in one
[18:27]Ayah in the Quran Allah subhana uses before and that's where in
[18:35]verse number 64 we said all the aat have first then except
[18:38]this one which is what so this time distractions are presented first
[18:47]then games why because two ayat few ayat earlier Allah says it
[18:55]is Allah who guarantees your sustenance for you and gives it as
[19:03]a measure some mu have said it's because many people are distracted
[19:08]due to the seeking of R and therefore Allah subhana wa tala
[19:12]wants to say there is what an element here that impacts the
[19:17]lives of human beings and that's gaining wealth gaining money when it
[19:21]comes to what when it comes to the Quran Allah says be
[19:26]wary of this and another please understand this Allah says do not
[19:35]oh you who believe make your wealth or your children distract you
[19:39]from the remembrance of Allah means what it means the most powerful
[19:43]two entities which bring about this distraction pandemic around us is the
[19:49]seeking of wealth and what and the love of one's own family
[19:55]and children please understand this because the Quran says that know that
[20:03]your wealth and your children are a source of tribulation for you
[20:07]how many times we have heard of what of the challenge and
[20:12]the test of you and I when it comes to acquiring wealth
[20:17]when it comes to looking at only preserving our D and forgetting
[20:20]our when it comes to not balancing when it comes to not
[20:23]prioritizing I tell you this wealth can be destructive not only as
[20:29]as far as lack of focus and destructibility is concerned but it
[20:34]could ruin our dya before those who were disciples with isaam they
[20:38]were with the prophet of God who's known as he says to
[20:44]them I would like to go on a journey in order for
[20:47]us to spread the religion he said they said very well three
[20:49]of them said we will accompany you oh the messenger of God
[20:54]on the journey he would advise them be careful about this world
[20:57]this dun there are many distractions they may pop at you be
[21:02]resilient steadfast patience hold on to Allah they said very well no
[21:10]doubt this was his these were his but what happened the moment
[21:13]that they passed through an area they find a bag of gold
[21:18]one in Naf said there was a man in Naf who said
[21:22]I am blind but people didn't believe him so they came to
[21:26]the Maraj and said how do we test he blind before the
[21:29]Scientific he said put a bag of money in front of him
[21:31]and see if he sees anything or not when people see money
[21:36]what happens they will have these dollar signs in their eyes or
[21:40]in the case of this country pound yes therefore when these individuals
[21:44]saw this they said to the prophet they said to him we
[21:49]will wait here because it's a lot of money we have to
[21:50]protect it he said be wary of this wealth because it will
[21:55]take away the r of IM from your heart they said don't
[21:57]worry we will only protect it when you come back from the
[22:03]journey we'll be waiting for you here isaam said my advice to
[22:06]you is leave it why because you will perish because of it
[22:10]they said why we will perish this is money we cannot take
[22:13]with us therefore we will remain here when they remained here Shan
[22:17]came to them and one of and two of them and said
[22:21]why is it that you want to share this amongst three of
[22:26]you get rid of one of them and in which way tell
[22:30]him go and bring us some food and when he bring comes
[22:31]back with the food hide somewhere and kill him therefore you could
[22:35]share the two amongst you they did that when that individual came
[22:41]they killed one of their companions one of their friends look at
[22:45]what wealth can do to you Allah I have seen it if
[22:49]you want to see the devastating impact of money become an individual
[22:52]who deals with problems of the community and what someone who tries
[22:58]to reconcile from an two jamaat leaders why most of our problems
[23:02]is because of money disputes and you know what it's even between
[23:06]family members you have for example Sons and Daughters fighting amongst themselves
[23:12]when it comes to inheritance their father or mother has just died
[23:19]but you know what no no no no no I will have
[23:19]this particular item and you can't have it and you have disputes
[23:26]amongst friends and M and community members all over what all over
[23:30]this world not a penny of it we will take with us
[23:35]six feet under therefore when they both had this money Shayan comes
[23:38]to each one of them and says what and says that you
[23:42]must divide it amongst yourself but he also had given that message
[23:45]to that third man who are now being killed put poison in
[23:52]the food so that when they eat it you will be left
[23:54]with the money and so when the food was bought they both
[23:58]said now we have this for ourselves they eat it they both
[24:01]die Isa returns from his journey sees the bag of money and
[24:07]the three bodies next to it did I not tell you this
[24:09]wealth will cause you to perish therefore the Quran says be careful
[24:14]because it's a means of distraction for you likewise what your family
[24:21]Subhan Allah family is a very sacred institution in Islam but it
[24:26]can also be devastating in our spiritual growth and our goal to
[24:30]attain proximity to Allah waala it could be a means by which
[24:36]we lose focus in life in which way sometimes we put family
[24:40]over religion please remember that name if you haven't heard of him
[24:49]then please understand this individual he was with said I was with
[25:04]Ali on his way to we stopped inala when we stopped inala
[25:14]I saw Al sit on the sand Junes of carala lift the
[25:18]soil and cry and say oh soil what soil is like you
[25:26]people will be buried within you that will enter jna without without
[25:31]he said wall I heard this and saw this Ali from Ali
[25:37]he goes back home after says to his wife he says I
[25:43]heard say this and when I asked him he told me that
[25:44]my son Hussein will be slaughtered with his family and companions in
[25:49]this land he told his wife who is one of the lovers
[25:50]of Amir she said very well that that means he's on the
[25:57]path of H fast forward a few years carala 10 of M
[26:04]61 ah Muslim is on the campsite of yaid a you hear
[26:08]these stories and you think what's going on here ship of Salvation
[26:16]Lantern of guidance comes to him and says to him oh Wen
[26:18]you with my father when he came to this place he says
[26:23]of course I was no fake news there yes he admits now
[26:29]he says to him AB abdah says to him so then why
[26:32]don't you join me are you with me or against me no
[26:34]he says yeah AB abdah I am neither with you or against
[26:36]you or against you I'm neutral you know zero so Imam says
[26:42]what are you saying he says it's because of my children I
[26:49]don't want my sons and daughters to be orphaned it is that
[26:54]that sometimes what Subhan Allah this man was on the verge between
[26:58]J and what distracted him from salvation was his own family or
[27:06]his own understanding of how this should be looked at that's why
[27:19]famously says he says these distractions will make Allah subhanahu wa taala
[27:25]angry and it's the tools of Satan and it will make you
[27:34]away from the Holy Quran hence the Quran says in this beautiful
[27:38]description in what way Allah subhah wa ta'ala says these distractions that
[27:44]you and I are sometimes faced will be used against us on
[27:49]the day of listen to this beautiful scenario Allah portrayed to us
[27:53]in the Holy Quran he says when the day ofy happens and
[28:02]people are in paradise and in Hell the people of Hell will
[28:04]be able to speak to the people of paradise incidentally in English
[28:10]many people use Heaven it's incorrect incorrect to use heaven for Paradise
[28:16]or jna Heaven means the skies the heavens the correct English term
[28:20]is Paradise yet 99% of the people use Heaven here the Quran
[28:22]says the people of Hell will tell the people of paradise and
[28:28]a please we beg you we want water whatever Allah has given
[28:36]you we are desperate for it give us the response is Allah
[28:41]will not allow us to give you because it's Haram for you
[28:46]you are what disbelievers now the Quran says why why is it
[28:49]haram for them to obtain any water in hell those who allowed
[29:02]their religion to be contaminated with distractions and games and they were
[29:10]drawn by the materialism of this world today Allah says categorically I
[29:19]will forget them just like how they forgot me Quran is categorical
[29:27]be wary of these ctions because there is a plan in order
[29:31]to draw you away that's why how many of us when we
[29:37]come to when we recite know that one of the main areas
[29:40]or reasons for the is the the destructions comes when when he
[29:49]comes to Medina he brings many merchandise when he brings his merchandise
[29:54]people are listening to theba of the greatest human being the holy
[29:57]prophet of Islam he standing giving this all of a sudden every
[30:01]single Muslim except 12 Rush towards this individual who's bought products from
[30:07]different countries to sell Quran vividly explained this says when they see
[30:21]transactions and business and that which distracts them from Allah they leave
[30:26]you standing yes they leave their prayers the prophet ofam said something
[30:30]very important at that moment please understand what he said he said
[30:35]if it wasn't for these 12 who had stayed Allah would have
[30:46]destroyed all those people who left to go for destructions of this
[30:50]world if it wasn't for these 12 who stayed Yes W don't
[30:57]underestimate the power of any out there who observes religion and indeed
[31:02]holds tight to their faith those who pray those who observe the
[31:06]hijab stay away from music and Haram those who attended aalis of
[31:13]abdah don't ever underestimate the impact and the position you have with
[31:18]Allah subhana tala because maybe Allah saving mankind because of you because
[31:22]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is withholding the punishment because of the faithful
[31:29]believer who are still holding tight to the teachings of the holy
[31:33]prophet and the you know what someone says all these Muslims left
[31:36]the holy prophet and only 12 stayed with him now you understand
[31:41]now you begin to appreciate what happened on the day of H
[31:47]Allah Waal says yet on the day of H what happened there
[31:49]were over 12,000 Muslims when the holy prophet of Islam was ambushed
[31:56]with the Muslims how many remained with the prophet Sunni and Shia
[32:01]all agree 12 12,000 from 12 they tell us 120,000 people witnessed
[32:08]the great day of the Declaration of the will and the imama
[32:13]of the commander of the faithful yet after a few months only
[32:21]a handful with with how could that make sense come and read
[32:24]the SE of the prophet and see unfortunately many similar incidents and
[32:29]therefore you recognize that these distractions can have the potential to truly
[32:35]draw people away from the teachings and from the religion of Islam
[32:39]now the question is what causes them what are the main causes
[32:45]of distractions in our day-to-day life today because there are people today
[32:49]who say fine are you telling me to get rid of my
[32:54]phone are you telling me to get rid of my TV or
[32:55]computer because for me that's the main destruction scientists behavioral experts and
[33:02]those who St studied destruction in our societies have said that no
[33:07]that's not the solution they say what there is a man by
[33:14]the name of near I and this individual has written a book
[33:16]called IND indestructibility near ale he comes forward and says I tried
[33:23]this because I was constantly distracted in my life so what I
[33:26]did was I I bought a word processor which had no internet
[33:31]I bought an old phone which is not a smartphone and I
[33:35]started reading newspapers as opposed to reading it on my computer he
[33:38]said but then I moved from one distraction to another there is
[33:44]another problem he said please understand this if you understand this that
[33:47]you will know what the challenges we're facing and how we could
[33:51]tackle them he says if you think about it distraction is on
[33:56]one side our minds are in the middle and then on this
[33:58]side is what's known as traction traction is what draws us to
[34:02]what we are supposed to do he says there are things that
[34:06]pull us this way and pull us that way and these are
[34:12]called internal factors or internal triggers and external triggers what do we
[34:18]mean he says internal triggers are cues that make us distracted easily
[34:23]what are they what are these internal cues in our lives that
[34:31]cause us to lose focus to somehow have a lower attention span
[34:35]please understand there is something within us there is something inside the
[34:40]main thing is what it's pain discomfort and escape from hardship science
[34:48]today says one of the reasons why for example I want to
[34:52]complete a task but I constantly go to something which gives me
[34:59]pleasure eat for example or speak to someone and procrastinate delay my
[35:06]tasks is because of an inner issue I have a pain within
[35:12]I need that pain to be relieved and that pain within can
[35:19]only be relieved by that tool of distraction yes now this element
[35:24]that's causing my distraction is as a result of a number number
[35:28]of Behavioral factors in our lives please understand this the first is
[35:33]boredom our seventh IM [Music] M he comes forward and says there
[35:47]are two things human beings will regret on the day of one
[35:51]of them is excessive sleep the second is boredom today science has
[35:58]shown that when when human beings are bored they can do anything
[36:01]there was a a study in 2014 in Science magazine an experiment
[36:05]they put men and women in a room with nothing to do
[36:09]that's it and over there there was a tool where by the
[36:14]moment they touch it they will get electrocuted they will get a
[36:17]a painful electric shock they left them there for a while they
[36:20]wanted to see what happens the results were 67% of men went
[36:28]several times and electrocuted themselves 25% only of women and it was
[36:34]interesting that they concluded that human beings can't stand being bored even
[36:39]if they're electrocuted they've got to do something they've got to fill
[36:44]their time with something otherwise they feel what they feel that they're
[36:49]not necessarily being uh effective in their lives this boredom is what
[36:56]sometimes triggers that internal cue for what for distractions when I am
[37:02]bored reading the Quran when I am bored praying when I am
[37:11]bored listening to a majus or a lesson or for example reading
[37:15]an Islamic book all of a sudden I want to ease my
[37:20]bordedom with something that allows me happiness and pleasure therefore I will
[37:25]stop that action how many times you find today our I has
[37:29]become what ritualistic and sometimes we compete with each other for the
[37:36]world record of how fast we can complete it yes you find
[37:39]individuals who will complete their Salah within half a minute why because
[37:44]there is boredom and there is discomfort I don't understand what I'm
[37:48]saying I don't know why I'm praying I'm reading the Quran I'm
[37:53]told I have to but you know I have no idea what
[37:54]I am reciting and therefore as a result you and I will
[38:00]be drawn towards this by whom by shaan as we will come
[38:04]to in a minute that's number one number two negativity bias please
[38:07]understand this so the first reason why there are internal cues that
[38:11]drive us towards destraction is boredom number two negativity bias means what
[38:16]pessimism people who think I can't do this give up easily they're
[38:22]not optimistic they're not positive human beings they believe that what they
[38:28]are weak and they cannot achieve whatever they are out there to
[38:32]achieve Shan will cling on to this and will say to them
[38:34]it's useless you will never finish this task it's useless don't read
[38:40]this particular Islamic book it's useless don't for example have this help
[38:45]this individual they will never be helped and therefore the lack of
[38:49]positivity is devastating at the same time there is a term that's
[38:53]used in Psychology it's called honic adaptation or adoption what does this
[38:59]mean this means human beings have a tendency to go back to
[39:03]doing that which they feel gives them relief and happiness despite them
[39:08]knowing that it's not good for them habitual meaning I know that
[39:14]if I sit there in front of Instagram and scroll for an
[39:18]hour or two what happens it gives me a good sense I
[39:23]feel good but I know it's not good for me even though
[39:29]I may know that it distraction I still do it yes these
[39:32]are important reasons now in order to combat them there are tips
[39:37]please understand because the member must be a practical member meaning what
[39:42]I sometimes every year in I make an attempt and I go
[39:48]and visit or see in different parts of the world throughout these
[39:51]two months and ask them how is the majalis this year in
[39:55]muharam they say mashallah the best we've heard I said tell me
[39:59]one lesson you've heard well I can't remember tell me one thing
[40:07]you took away I felt very good walking out but I can't
[40:09]remember how many maalis you've attended all your life during Mam and
[40:15]safer and other times of the year the recognition is it's not
[40:18]about quantity the idea today is that I need to be able
[40:21]to take these practical lessons that apply in my life question here
[40:24]is how do I sort out these internal cues how do I
[40:29]do it here are a number of tips number one I need
[40:32]to use the 10-minute rule please understand this what's the 10-minute rule
[40:35]the 10minute rule is when I am about to do something and
[40:40]there is a trigger internally because I want some happiness because of
[40:43]a discomfort and I want to be distracted I say to myself
[40:46]I'll do it in 10 minutes it's okay I could go to
[40:50]my phone in 10 minutes yes but let me just focus for
[40:56]10 minutes here the moment you defeat that stimuli you have already
[41:00]strengthened the mess within and you already on that path of what
[41:04]of saying no to distractions you defeat The Urge number one number
[41:11]two the task that you're doing maybe the T the idea of
[41:14]it in your mind needs reconditioning reimagine the task yes redefine what
[41:19]this task is instead of saying I'm just doing it because I
[41:25]have to focus on why you have to and therefore it will
[41:28]will help you to avoid being distracted number three self-compassion sometimes we
[41:34]are too hard on ourselves sometimes I look at myself and say
[41:38]I'm not worthy I remember when I was for example at University
[41:44]one of my friends who is one of the as well would
[41:45]come to me and say whatever he calls me whatever one of
[41:49]the first things he'll say is brother we are wasting our time
[41:52]we're all going to hell anyway what is this why are we
[41:59]so pessimistic about ourselves have belief in yourself have this is that
[42:04]Allah subhana T has given you and that you're the follow of
[42:06]the Quran and the and therefore you can do it and you
[42:11]can achieve it similarly what do we find when I develop these
[42:14]Within Myself and others and I will discuss about some of the
[42:17]Islamic tips in a moment that's the internal cues what it comes
[42:23]to the external most of us are aware of our wmds what
[42:31]are wmds weapons of mass destruction yes most of us are aware
[42:37]of what causes us to be losing focus I need to identify
[42:40]this if you don't know it ask your spouse ask your family
[42:44]member what is it that you're constantly Finding Me distracted by yes
[42:49]if it is for example the status of man united for the
[42:55]last 10 years then avoid that discussion if it is the for
[42:58]example what you are worried about finances then avoid that when it
[43:02]comes to this you need to identify what causes you to be
[43:07]distracted externally now practically there are things we can do to avoid
[43:11]these external stimuli and distractions the first thing is what these push
[43:17]notifications these push notifications I have calculated that on an a daily
[43:26]basis on average 28 billion not notifications are sent around the world
[43:30]and that's because on average any individual receives 406 notifications yes most
[43:40]people unfortunately haven't switched them off or don't know how to do
[43:45]it but it is one that sadly creates that what creates that
[43:49]lack of focus in our lives because we're bombarded with these particular
[43:56]PS that's number one number two of great importance and that's what
[44:00]and that is when it comes to the phones that we have
[44:03]sometimes have you seen people when they are sitting next to you
[44:07]they're holding the phone or they put it on the table science
[44:12]today has shown even though you're not looking at your phone the
[44:15]brain is still distracted by what the phone's message is or what
[44:21]could be on the phone it's also disrespectful to someone that you're
[44:24]talking to that you're holding the phone you're saying to them my
[44:27]attention is to the phone and you and whatever draws my attention
[44:31]first I will be looking at put the phone away science to
[44:35]put the phone away without with the possibility of you looking at
[44:40]it not next to you where you can actually indeed observe it
[44:46]number four and this is important resist the urge to respond quickly
[44:49]allahar and you know this is a humble message to the and
[44:55]I know many who say that Sometimes some of the Believers feel
[44:59]very upset when we are receiving these messages and we don't respond
[45:07]at the time frame that they wish one one say in America
[45:09]said when I didn't respond to a lady because I was in
[45:13]a meeting I tried to respond that night she had blocked me
[45:15]later I found out why are you not responding within a few
[45:17]hours these double ticks on WhatsApp and the blue ticks have all
[45:24]been created so that we're continuously distracted we're waiting for that response
[45:30]from that individual res resist that idea that you have to respond
[45:34]to somebody very quickly similarly be wary of the algorithms that exist
[45:42]on social media on YouTube on Instagram on Facebook on all these
[45:46]tools the moment you watch a video or the moment you are
[45:48]interested in a topic or the moment you speak to someone about
[45:53]something all of a sudden you are bombarded with this external stimuli
[45:57]that draws you further and further because that is the currency for
[46:01]social media to keep you there as much as they possibly can
[46:07]try time boxing meaning what at a certain time I will be
[46:10]with my phone other times I will not be so you time
[46:14]box your daily activities similarly 31% of people have never tried digital
[46:19]detox digital detox means what that when it comes to your phones
[46:26]you say one whole day I will not be with the phone
[46:30]I will not use the phone what can happen what are the
[46:33]repercussions of me not necessarily using the phone you see the problem
[46:35]today you say to me brother be practical we need our phones
[46:39]I need to what contact I need to buy I need to
[46:41]shop I need to do this at the end of the day
[46:44]if you are in control of your phone no problem but if
[46:48]your phone is in control of you then that is a issue
[46:51]meaning what meaning that if I am able to ensure that these
[46:56]stimuli are not distracted ing me from my tasks from my Salah
[46:59]from my duties then no issue but if they are I need
[47:05]drastic action I need action points and plans to avoid this from
[47:08]taking place sleep exercise meditation Dua are all very important when it
[47:15]comes to Islamic teachings we are told the number one being responsible
[47:21]for the is El loves it El uses it in his arsenal
[47:30]of weapons and this has been highlighted in the Quran and in
[47:35]the teachings of theam that it suits his objective it suits where
[47:39]he wants you and I to reach and that's why I tell
[47:43]you some of the M come forward and honestly say they say
[47:45]when it comes to our problems when it comes to issues for
[47:50]example such as me losing something and I don't know where it
[47:53]is I will find it when I am in Salah the moment
[48:00]I say allahar my mind drifts and distracts towards what towards my
[48:06]daily activities remember one of the came to one of the sh
[48:12]who told us that when he finish the M came to him
[48:18]and said to him M today your Salah was not right you
[48:21]prayed instead of three he said why I know that I've prayed
[48:26]three Ras he he said I know for sure he said how
[48:29]can you be sure he said please forgive me what I'm about
[48:31]to say but I own three businesses and every day is my
[48:35]accounting every I calculate how much money I made tonight I calculated
[48:43]two businesses only it happens what is the problem with our Salah
[48:49]do you know why we can't focus in Salah do you know
[48:52]why most of us would want to have most of us would
[48:56]want to know what is it that we're saying is because outside
[48:59]Salah we're distracted so much outside Salah there is this bombardment of
[49:04]stimuli that our brain cannot switch off the moment I say allahar
[49:08]if I train my naps outside Salah then in Salah I am
[49:14]able more to have the heart attentiveness and indeed the says to
[49:20]us there are specific tools that thean uses please understand these tools
[49:26]before we end Quran first of all says Allah Allah says these
[49:40]card games alcohol are all tools of Shan today our Maraj have
[49:44]come down hard when it comes to these poker cards these cards
[49:49]that people use people say no I'm not using it or playing
[49:52]it as far as gambling is concerned or all other games of
[49:58]chance I'm just using it you know as a game between two
[50:01]people innocent says you can't even use those cards for the innocent
[50:05]games yes because they are tools of Shan and there are tools
[50:12]that distract you and I similarly music that which Isam it's a
[50:15]tool of shatan to draw us away from the remembrance of Allah
[50:18]subhanahu wa taala and be wary of the trend that we are
[50:25]seeing sadly in some re citations out there from our own Brothers
[50:31]when it comes to and nid they are doing a great job
[50:39]in motivating and keeping the passion of wi as well as the
[50:43]remembrance of say sh but some are utilizing music that is suitable
[50:48]for events of vice and Haram some are developing that movement towards
[50:54]it the movement that they present themselves the singing style that they
[51:00]use be very wary of this particular Trend that we have to
[51:04]what highlight likewise when it comes to Haram relationships when it comes
[51:09]to the idea of watching Haram we are told all these are
[51:17]passwords of your heart that you give to Shan to make you
[51:19]distracted there are people say what's the harm in me watching something
[51:26]which is a few seconds I will indeed not do any other
[51:28]thing that's Haram but the moment you watch that obscene sight you
[51:32]and I unfortunately are doing what are allowing Shan to strengthen his
[51:40]grip so that we fall into this particular trap ofu and distractions
[51:45]and that's why when you come to the 10th of muharam you
[51:51]see Society was plagued was plagued with a destruction like today and
[51:56]indeed this was the tool of bani omay I ask you how
[51:59]did these individuals commit and perpetrate such a heus crime knowing the
[52:05]grandson of the holy prophet knowing that he was innocent and has
[52:12]not harmed a single one of them do you know why stands
[52:15]there before them and says what he says your stomachs are full
[52:21]of Haram food you cannot comprehend on his way towards carala he
[52:26]goes to an area known as this story I always have this
[52:33]emphasis to remind myself first and foremost and my brothers and sisters
[52:37]every mam because it's so relevant to our lives similar to when
[52:43]he goes to this area which today andala have found this location
[52:50]he goes to a man by the name of this individual goes
[52:57]to his tent allahar I cannot fathom when I read these narrations
[53:03]how individuals can reject the truth when the representative of Allah and
[53:08]the purest of the pure makes the attempt and tries to guide
[53:12]them yet they reject him he goes to him and says to
[53:21]him oh you fought against my father in saf you have sins
[53:24]that you need to ask Allah for forgiveness I am opening the
[53:30]door of Toba for you when we say yes Hussein is the
[53:37]mercy of Allah that is encompassing and it's open to people never
[53:41]judge someone who comes to the maalis of Hussein and has not
[53:47]come before and say why don't we see you the rest of
[53:48]the year do not look down upon them they are clinging to
[53:53]the hope that is Hussein Ali and so he says to this
[54:00]man he says to him come come with me and I guarantee
[54:02]your salvation he says to him you know I have Gardens and
[54:08]I have money and I'm worried he says I will guarantee their
[54:12]protection and I will give you more just come with me he
[54:17]says to him ydah I have a horse I'll give you my
[54:20]horse but my children I want to stay with my kids and
[54:28]family Subhan Allah this individual rejected the invitation towards salvation Imam said
[54:33]to him if you're not going to join me then here is
[54:35]what I'm going to say say to you get out of here
[54:39]go as far as you can because on the day of ashur
[54:44]If You Hear My Cry for Help and you do not come
[54:48]and support me Allah will place you in the pits of hell
[54:50]do you know this what he did after he came to the
[54:56]grave of IM Hussein am when he came he sat next to
[55:00]the Grave he was the first to visit but that's why we
[55:01]do not respect him because he was not the first righteous to
[55:06]visit the first righteous was whom was abdah comes cries crocodile tears
[55:13]next to the grave of Hussein and says I wish I joined
[55:15]you only a few years later he fights against M and is
[55:19]killed this is the result of Destruction this is the result of
[55:26]the toxicity that existed in the hearts of people around bani sought
[55:29]to do this bani knew how can we make people not follow
[55:36]Hussein the best way is to make them preoccupied with this world
[55:40]the best way is to make them run after materialism and therefore
[55:45]they will not be able to see the truth be wary of
[55:49]what's happening today be wary of similar tools that drawing you away
[55:53]from Islam and Faith be wary of the time that spent away
[55:58]from the worship and the remembrance and the service to Allah subhah
[56:01]wa ta'ala by vain activity that's distracting us from the ultimate goal
[56:06]there no doubt this is something that s stood with bravery courage
[56:14]and sacrifice in order to refine and purify society and the community
[56:18]I ask you when he left Medina he made this absolutely clear
[56:26]yes I am seeking reform in the um of my Prophet that
[56:42]my goal is to enjoin the good and forbid the evil Medina
[56:48]was beloved to abdah it was painful to leave Medina it was
[56:52]painful to Bid Farewell to some family members who who had to
[56:59]stay in the city of the Prophet R tell us there is
[57:02]one daughter of husse that couldn't join abdah because she was sick
[57:09]that Fatima imagine the heart of that young daughter of Imam when
[57:13]she bids farewell to her father when she bits farewell to her
[57:20]brothers when she she bits farewell to her uncles how can a
[57:23]small girl who is looking at these individuals hoping that they would
[57:27]return enjoy that pain of Separation The Rat says when she looked
[57:33]at AB abdah she said to him my dear father one thing
[57:36]please if you're leaving and I am not able to withstand this
[57:43]separation leave AAR with me I beg you that AAR leave him
[57:49]with me yes but ABD consoles her and says to her that
[57:53]you know we have to go this is the plan of Allah
[57:56]that these family members have to come with me theat says on
[58:02]the day of a on the plains ofala when theah were all
[58:07]massacred when the were all killed except Hussein that daughter of Imam
[58:15]sends a letter via somebody he receives that letter on these difficult
[58:24]final moments the letter says oh my father I miss you so
[58:27]much please tell me tell me of the news of my uncle
[58:33]Abbas tell me of the news of my brother abbar tell me
[58:39]of the news of my cousin Kim and my cousins and Muhammad
[58:42]but my dear father tell me how is my little brother AAR
[58:50]yes the moment Imam reads this letter he folds the letter the
[58:54]tears coming down his eyes the poet says it's as if he
[59:00]can say to her oh my dear Fatima you want to come
[59:03]and see what happened to your uncle then Abbas is next to
[59:10]the fat without his arms if you want to know about Kim
[59:12]then his head is split into two but I cannot tell you
[59:18]what happened to AAR it's too painful the poet describes this now
[59:22]in Medina later when the car van of ab abdah returns this
[59:30]Fatima is waiting she's waiting for the news of her father of
[59:34]her brothers of her family members when bisher comes and recalls what
[59:39]happens inala it is as if she asks please tell me of
[59:46]the news of AAR have they fed him any water tell me
[59:52]tell me what happened to him the poet says it's as if
[59:58]say Zab comes and speaks later to this young daughter of hers
[60:02]she would say to her oh Fatima when I saw your father
[60:08]carry the body of AAR that's the moment my heart broke into
[60:12]pieces that's the moment which I knew AAR is no longer alive
[60:17]imagine the pain of hearing what happened to the father to the
[60:24]brothers to that young innocent baby but I ask you the was
[60:27]this the only baby that they had to endure the pain of
[60:34]the poet describes that moment he says those in Medina would say
[60:39]oh Zab oh Zab when you described we remembered the ofb yes
[60:49]because the poet says in that speaks toar he says to him
[60:57]oh my nephew tell me how did you feel the pain of
[61:00]that Arrow yes AAR looks at him and says oh my uncle
[61:06]you tell me how did you feel the pain of that nail
[61:12]yes Imagine One complaining to the other that AAR says to M
[61:16]my lips were dry were dry I wanted some water but instead
[61:24]they they they kill killed me with a three ponged Arrow M
[61:31]said at least at least you saw your father and mother because
[61:35]the only thing I heard was my mother collaps on the ground
[61:43]when she was crushed between the wall and the door and I
[61:47]heard her cry oh my father father they have caused my my
[61:55]young baby to be Shah we pray to Allah subhanahu waala to
[62:12]grant us the strength and the to to be able to stand
[62:17]up against all distractions that keep us away from the remembrance of
[62:21]Allah we pray to him subhanahu wa taala to allow us to
[62:26]follow the Holy Quran and and to give us strength against Shan
[62:31]and all evil forces we pray to him subhana wa tala to
[62:34]raise us with Muhammad Muhammad and allow us to uphold theal of
[62:38]Hussein Hussein husse
