[0:00][Music] m [Music] [Music] oh muhammad um they ask they ask you
[1:50]what should we spend in the way of allah say whatever you
[1:58]can spare in this way allah clearly expounds his injunctions to you
[2:04]that you may reflect upon them as we've been journeying in the
[2:15]verses that begin with yes they ask you in the past couple
[2:21]of nights we've taken several of these verses as we've examined them
[2:26]and tried to explain them and expound on them in this verse
[2:32]says they ask you what should they spend for the sake of
[2:39]allah or in the way of allah yes they would ask what
[2:50]should we spend the quran encourages us to spend for the sake
[2:56]of allah there's so many verses so many narrations that the muslims
[3:02]were invited and encouraged to spend their wealth and the sake of
[3:05]allah so they would ask how much should we invest how much
[3:12]should we spend what should we spend should we spend our money
[3:15]our lands what should we give in the sake of allah because
[3:21]there's so many verses that encourage us to spend our money for
[3:27]the sake of allah and when we say the sake of allah
[3:29]it's anything that pleases allah azza it could be helping the poor
[3:35]it could be helping the needy it could be helping orphans as
[3:38]we talked about last night it could be building a mosque building
[3:42]a hospital building an orphanage this is all considered spending in the
[3:49]way of allah one verse says the example of those who spend
[3:58]their wealth in the way of allah is that of a grain
[4:05]that sprouts into seven years each bearing 100 grains you see so
[4:19]a person who donates he'll be rewarded 700 times the amount the
[4:24]way that the verse explains so because of the vast amount of
[4:30]verses and a hadith that encouraged me to spend they came and
[4:37]asked what should we spend tell us we will spend but tell
[4:41]us how much not all of us have a lot of money
[4:45]to spend some of us don't earn a lot of money we
[4:48]don't have a lot of money so tell us how much we
[4:52]should spend and what to spend and we will yes has several
[5:08]meanings even in the arabic language that has several meanings and so
[5:15]there are several possibilities one possibility of it means moderation means moderation
[5:25]it means to spend moderately when you spend in the way of
[5:31]allah don't spend in a stingy way where you only spend a
[5:36]little bit nor you go out of your way and you waste
[5:40]and you give all that you owe no be moderate you know
[5:44]there are some people they have allah azzawajal has given them a
[5:50]strong business they have money they have wealth they have cars they
[5:54]have homes they don't mind spending on themselves they don't mind spending
[5:59]on their stomachs on food on but when it comes time to
[6:04]spending in the way of allah you see this rich millionaire will
[6:06]give a quarter will give a dime or whatever they have in
[6:11]their pocket change pocket change they'll give in the way of allah
[6:17]on the other hand you see some that don't own anything they
[6:22]barely own they live in a small house or a small apartment
[6:25]they drive a simple car but they give so much for the
[6:30]sake of allah you see my dear friends you know generosity has
[6:34]nothing to do with how much you own i'm sure you've you've
[6:38]noticed this some people might not own anything but they're so generous
[6:42]when they give when a guest comes over to their house or
[6:48]they take a gift to someone they give something huge a large
[6:54]amount although they don't own anything and on the contrary you see
[6:58]some people that are wealthy they're rich but they're stingy they don't
[7:04]give so generosity has nothing to do with how much you own
[7:07]you could own allah but you don't you're not generous or you
[7:09]could own very little but you could be very dead generous it
[7:15]all depends on your attachment to money it doesn't matter how much
[7:21]it's all about your attachment to money so this verse says that
[7:25]if you spend in the sake of allah spend moderately not too
[7:31]little and not too much and this theme of spending moderately we
[7:35]see it in other verses in the holy quran and we see
[7:40]it in ahadith as well for example allah says in the quran
[7:51]those whom when they spend they're not stingy they're not greedy they
[7:59]don't spend very little nor do they spend an entire amount where
[8:03]they begin to waste too much no what kind of there's a
[8:09]balance in spending and in other verses don't have your hand towards
[8:21]your throat holding your hand meaning not spending this is a sign
[8:24]of greediness stinginess nor do you extend your hand and open your
[8:35]hand completely meaning that you spend as if there's no tomorrow as
[8:42]if you own the world when you open your hand your hands
[8:52]are open and you completely spend then you'll be regretful because you
[8:56]will be left with nothing so one possibility is that when you
[9:06]spend in the way of allah spend moderately and there are hadith
[9:11]that also support this theory and a hadith to spend moderately right
[9:20]in the middle and another hadith and this is the theory that
[9:27]is supported by assad the author of that is means to spend
[9:37]moderately this is one theory and you see my dear friends islam
[9:44]is a religion that promotes moderation islam is about moderation we have
[9:52]so many teachings in islam so many verses so many hadith that
[9:55]emphasize on being moderate being moderate in your social interactions in the
[10:03]way you spend the way you live the way you walk the
[10:08]way you talk be moderate don't go to two extremes islam is
[10:12]against extremism from both sides for example in suratil first of all
[10:32]don't give your cheek for people to step on you don't be
[10:36]a doormat for people to step on you and at the same
[10:42]time don't be arrogant don't be arrogant don't show arrogance to others
[10:47]don't be proud of yourself neither this way nor that way don't
[10:53]be a doormat for people to step on you nor are you
[10:55]so arrogant that no one can approach you and speak one future
[11:14]of moderation in islam another future when you walk walk moderately have
[11:26]you seen some people when they walk they're running it's as if
[11:32]they're jogging but they're actually walking they're they're in a rush and
[11:35]it's not that they're in a rush for something that's just how
[11:39]they walk they walk very fast and there are others that walk
[11:43]like turtles unlike snails islam says don't walk like a turtle and
[11:48]don't walk like a horse walk normally when you walk walk in
[11:55]a way where people you know you won't get people's attention and
[11:59]people's glances walk moderately what love means and lower your voice don't
[12:06]shout when you speak and don't whisper at the same time speak
[12:09]moderately moderately [Music] the worst of voices is the voice of donkeys
[12:24]in another verse see these are all features of moderation in islam
[12:30]allah tells us to live moderately in another verse and drink in
[12:41]islam islam doesn't tell you to go hungry except during ramadan of
[12:46]course where we're required to fast other than that and of course
[12:50]we fast during the day but at night we can eat eat
[12:56]and drink but don't waste here don't waste has two meanings either
[13:01]don't waste food like we do during the time of after you
[13:06]know have you seen some people at the time of the flood
[13:07]they think that they can eat so much god forbid they go
[13:13]to an open buffet restaurant you see they have an entire table
[13:16]in front of them because when you're fasting at the time of
[13:19]the flood you think you can eat like a horse but what
[13:22]happens is you eat like a small bird our stomach can only
[13:27]handle so much what happens to the rest of the food it
[13:32]goes to waste all of this goes to us so this is
[13:36]one meaning another meaning is eat and drink but know the limit
[13:42]of how much you eat one scholar said this is the best
[13:46]medical advice that the quran gives best dietary advice that the quran
[13:53]gives eat don't forbid yourself from sweets from chocolate from whatever you
[13:57]want but in moderation in moderation if you eat moderately you won't
[14:01]have to worry about diabetes you won't have to worry about high
[14:04]blood pressure you won't have to worry about cholesterol where do these
[14:09]illnesses come from of course there's several reasons there are several causes
[14:12]but one of the causes of these illnesses is that we don't
[14:17]pay attention to our food when we eat we eat in an
[14:20]extreme manner but if we were to pay attention to what we
[14:26]eat and we eat moderately then we can eat anything sometimes one
[14:33]food forbids us from eating so many other types of food because
[14:37]we were not careful we didn't eat moderately and another verse again
[14:43]back to moderation allah says don't shout in your salah and raise
[14:55]your voice where your neighbors can hear you and nor lower your
[14:58]voice to the point that you cannot even hear yourself rather seek
[15:06]a middle ground how beautiful is it that if we were to
[15:09]live our lives in moderation in everything that we do with our
[15:15]family members with our relatives with our children and anything that we
[15:20]do we do it moderately look at this hadith a very beautiful
[15:32]hadith that teaches us moderation and social skills look he says when
[15:45]you love someone love them moderately a friend a classmate a neighbor
[15:54]when you love when you have friendship let it be moderate love
[16:00]moderately because one day the beloved becomes an enemy how many times
[16:06]do we see two best friends they get along so well but
[16:11]after a couple of months they have a fallout and the two
[16:17]friends go in separate ways and from best friends they become worst
[16:21]enemies how much does that happen how often does that happen why
[16:26]because when we loved we didn't love moderately we loved excessively we
[16:31]went to two extremes and then he says and when you hate
[16:44]hate moderately you know there's some people when they hate they hate
[16:50]with a passion when they hate someone all they think they can
[16:54]think of is how to ruin that person's life no be careful
[16:58]when you love love moderately and when you hate hate moderately because
[17:02]how many times does an enemy turn into a best friend the
[17:07]same way that a friend becomes an enemy an enemy can also
[17:11]turn into a best friend so be moderate in your social relationships
[17:16]this is one meaning to spend moderately another meaning yes they ask
[17:27]you what should they spend on the sake of allah say allah
[17:32]another meaning is that what is left after spending on your family
[17:36]and that makes sense right if you have a family if you
[17:40]have family members you have a son that is getting married you
[17:42]have a daughter that is in college and has got a loan
[17:47]you don't go and give charity when your family member when your
[17:52]family members are in need if you have cousins in arab and
[17:57]lebanon that are in need but you want to go and give
[17:58]charity to a a foundation or a group islam says no if
[18:04]you have money first spend it on your family members if you
[18:12]see a person that's donating money to a mosque or a charity
[18:16]or a hospital or an orphanage but has family members back home
[18:19]in need this is not a real charity charity first starts with
[18:24]family members you have a cousin you have a niece of a
[18:26]nephew that are in need your son and daughter first attend to
[18:31]their needs make sure that your family has enough support them and
[18:34]then go to the others it makes sense would you fix your
[18:39]neighbor's roof if your own roof is leaking doesn't make sense first
[18:42]fix your own roof at home and then go to your neighbors
[18:46]islam 2 says spend on your relatives first those who mean to
[18:53]you first spend on them make sure that they are well attended
[18:55]they they are taken care of and then spend the rest of
[19:00]your money for the sake of allah another meaning to al-af as
[19:06]mufasareen have mentioned they ask you what do they spend for the
[19:11]sake of allah some scholars say give the best that you have
[19:16]the best that you own if you want to give something for
[19:19]the sake of allah make sure it's the best not the worst
[19:23]not the worst you know this is the test that kabil fell
[19:30]in habil and kabil were asked to make a sacrifice for allah
[19:33]azza and they both owned they owned farms habil was asked to
[19:39]make a test to make an offering they were tested to make
[19:42]an offering and so too was kabil habil went and chose the
[19:47]best of what he owned and he offered it for the sake
[19:51]of allah abhil on the other hand went and chose the worst
[19:56]of what he owned and he offered it for the sake of
[19:58]allah of course allah accepts from whom from those that offer the
[20:03]best i will kill you your offering was accepted but mine was
[20:25]rejected except from those that are pious it is not my crime
[20:32]it is not my sin that allah accepted my offering and rejected
[20:37]yours it's because i offered the best of what i had and
[20:39]you offered the worst of what you had you know i remember
[20:44]in some communities you know when you have a local mosque an
[20:47]islamic center people like come and donate they like to help out
[20:53]in the mosque i remember in one community people in that community
[20:56]if they had an old couch whatever all that they had in
[20:59]their house they would bring it to the mosque as a donation
[21:03]to the mosque an old fridge an old freezer an old couch
[21:06]that's completely wearing god if you sit on it'll break they come
[21:10]and donate it to the mosque ajib this is the house of
[21:16]allah if you donate donate something good donate the best of what
[21:19]you have not the worst of what you have and i've seen
[21:21]this in lots of communities people think that the mosque is a
[21:27]junkyard whatever they have lying at home that doesn't work or dust
[21:29]dust has settled on it they come we'll give it for the
[21:34]sake of allah to the mosque no the mosque does not need
[21:38]such donation from you if you want to give give the best
[21:41]that you have not the worst that you have muhammad and finally
[21:50]there's an another explanation to allah yes they ask you and for
[21:58]those that are coming in our series in the past couple of
[22:03]nights have been regarding the tipsier of the verses that begin with
[22:07]yes they ask you and there are 14 verses that we've been
[22:10]examining in the past several nights and we'll continue until the night
[22:12]of eid inshallah they ask you what should we spend on the
[22:16]sake of allah here some scholars say al-af literally means forgiveness it
[22:24]means to forgive what should they spend for the sake of allah
[22:28]instead of spending money allah says no no no no forget money
[22:35]forgive people forgive people those who who have harmed you what have
[22:40]talked about you will have back abide it against you any sort
[22:44]of infliction that they've inflicted upon you forgive them off you see
[22:52]they're asking about charity what sort of charity should we spend for
[22:54]the sake of allah allah says forgiveness that means that forgiveness is
[23:00]what it's a form of charity it's a sadaqa when you forgive
[23:03]someone someone who belittled you disrespected you hurt you in public and
[23:08]private at school at work whatever it is they come and apologize
[23:14]or they don't even apologize even if they don't apologize when you
[23:17]forgive this is a form of charity and charity is what it's
[23:22]an act of worship giving charity for the sake of allah is
[23:28]a form of worship that means when you forgive people that's a
[23:34]form of worship you'll be you'll be rewarded he supports this theory
[23:44]he says most likely when allah says say let them spend chair
[23:50]let them spend forgiveness let them give forgiveness this is what it
[23:57]means here means forgiveness it doesn't mean excess or it doesn't mean
[24:00]moderation it rather means to forgive why we have to remember that
[24:07]when islam came in arabia these arabs there were they had feuds
[24:11]they killed one another there was so much blood bloodshed among them
[24:19]the tribes the family members clans there was so much fighting among
[24:25]them rasulullah came to reconcile with karuna alaikum due to the bounty
[24:44]of allah you became brothers after you were all enemies thanks you
[24:51]became brothers now you might ask the verse says yes they ask
[24:58]what should we give so they're they're asking about money something material
[25:04]right so why would allah say forgiveness forgiveness isn't something material it's
[25:10]not something that could be bought with cash or a credit card
[25:14]or with a check it's nothing material so how could it be
[25:19]that you ask you know what should i spend but allah says
[25:25]forgiveness the answer my dear friends is that attention to the fact
[25:32]that when they're asking what should we give for the sake of
[25:33]allah there's something more important than money there's something more important than
[25:38]money what it what good is it if you give money to
[25:43]the poor but your isn't good if people wronged you and they
[25:48]come and ask you for forgiveness you don't forgive people you have
[25:52]bad what good is that this shows that forgiveness and having good
[25:56]luck is more valuable than the money that you spend people don't
[25:59]want your money people want from you there's some people when they
[26:04]give a gift to a family member they tell them remember 15
[26:06]years ago when i sent you a check remember that 500 dollars
[26:11]this is this is painful never give a gift and then keep
[26:18]on reminding that person of the gift build man is reminding them
[26:26]when you gave them a gift remember when i gave you that
[26:28]gift remember when i did you that favor you don't need to
[26:33]remind anyone of that favor allah unfortunately there are some people that
[26:45]don't forgive that don't forgive if they're wronged if you do if
[26:50]you do them harm they'll never forgive you they never forgive they
[26:55]they hold grudges there's people like that i know people like that
[26:59]i'm sure you know people like that there's some people that hold
[27:01]grudges in their heart a year two years three years they never
[27:06]forget you did them wrong i mean we're all human beings we
[27:11]make a mistake sometimes it slips from your tongue you don't mean
[27:13]it you might be joking you might be serious we all make
[27:17]mistakes we might hurt people's feelings but it takes a a big
[27:24]person to apologize there's some people who when people apologize to them
[27:29]they reject their apology they refuse to forgive this is so wrong
[27:33]this is so wrong on so many levels why you know when
[27:38]you apologize apologizing is something very difficult because it requires stepping on
[27:44]your ego you know an apology is something very very difficult to
[27:48]do i'm sure you've been in that sort of position i've been
[27:52]in that sort of position when you do something wrong and you
[27:56]when you make a decision to apologize it's such a difficult position
[27:59]to step on your ego and to come to the person that
[28:04]you've wronged and you admit that you were wrong and you apologize
[28:06]this is difficult it's very very difficult now imagine after going all
[28:12]going through all of that and you step on your ego and
[28:16]you come and apologize that person says no your apology is not
[28:20]accepted it makes the apology much more difficult apologies and themselves are
[28:26]difficult those who do not accept an apology they make them much
[28:30]worse much worse here islam says they ask you what should we
[28:39]donate instead of donating money forgive people those have wronged you forgive
[28:44]them don't hold grudges in your in your heart keep your heart
[28:48]clean keep your heart white don't hold hatred or animosity against anyone
[28:53]forgive this is the quran this is the you know if you
[29:00]don't want to accept people's apologies you'll be left without friends because
[29:05]human beings perform mistakes one day you're going to hurt someone's feelings
[29:09]and someone's going to hurt you if you don't accept people's apologies
[29:14]you'll be left by yourself without friends without comrades without colleagues without
[29:20]colleagues no one you live a lonely life and who wants to
[29:24]live a lonely life let's accept people's apologies unto the forgiveness of
[29:37]your lord s that is prepared for the pious who are the
[29:43]pious those who spend their money for the sake of allah in
[29:51]public and they're private well those who control their anger those who
[30:00]forgive those who forgive others they don't hold grudges whatever people do
[30:04]to them you're forgiven you're forgiven i forgive you i don't hold
[30:10]a grudge against you there was a scholar a well-known scholar i
[30:16]will not mention his name the scholar had books some of his
[30:22]books were published and some of them were manuscripts meaning they were
[30:25]ready to be published but they were not published a thief comes
[30:30]to his house i don't know if that thief broke in this
[30:35]is a true story i don't know if he broke in or
[30:38]he came as a guest he saw that this alim has a
[30:43]manuscript a book ready to be published but is not published yet
[30:48]he took the book he took the manuscript he hid it under
[30:53]his clothing or his bag or whatever and he took the manuscript
[30:55]and guess what he did with that book he went and he
[30:59]published it in his own name he went and he published it
[31:04]in his own name years later of course this island he saw
[31:09]that his book is missing and then he found it in the
[31:11]bookstores this book with the same exact title he didn't even change
[31:14]anything except you changed the name he changed the name this book
[31:19]is published in someone else's name years later that person came to
[31:23]apologize to this islam and he brought him the book he told
[31:28]him that i'd like to seek your forgiveness i took your book
[31:31]from you and i went and i published it in my own
[31:33]name this island when he saw the book he smiled he said
[31:37]did you know that this was two volumes and you only published
[31:41]the first volume i'm gonna go and i'll bring you the second
[31:43]volume go and publish it in your name volume number two it
[31:48]was still a manuscript he went and he gave him the book
[31:52]he said now that you've published the first volume go and publish
[31:56]the second volume in your name this requires iman this requires piety
[32:01]to be so selfless to be so selfless that you don't care
[32:06]who publishes the book as long as the book is being published
[32:11]and people benefit from that book someone wants to go publish it
[32:14]and their name let it be allah knows if people don't know
[32:21]that i'm the author of this book but allah knows allah knows
[32:27]everything forgiveness you know there are some people they're hypocrites they ask
[32:37]allah allah in the month of ramadan oh allah forgive me forgive
[32:42]me forgive me for my sins forgive me for what i've done
[32:44]but when people come and apologize to him or her and want
[32:50]them to forgive they don't forgive isn't this a double standard you
[32:55]expect allah to forgive you but you don't forgive anyone you have
[32:59]arrogance and you hold a grudge in your heart against people and
[33:04]you're not willing to forgive others but you expect allah to forgive
[33:07]you this is a double standard it doesn't work that way you
[33:10]want allah if we want allah to forgive us we have to
[33:14]learn to forgive others so many verses so many verses in the
[33:27]quran that emphasize unforgiving others one day maybe you've heard the story
[33:32]maybe you have been i don't know maliki who was a defense
[33:36]minister to amir al-m someone very special when malik died amir muhammadin
[33:44]said come on rasulullah malik to me was like i to rasulullah
[33:59]one day malik was passing by in the streets of kufa maybe
[34:05]in a road full of shops one of the shop owners he
[34:10]took out his garbage and he saw malik passing by of course
[34:15]malik who was a defense minister he controlled the entire army of
[34:20]imam ali imam he grabbed his garbage and he threw it at
[34:26]malik when he passed by the other store owners they told him
[34:33]do you know what you just did do you know who this
[34:34]person is no they told him this is he said who's they
[34:40]told him this man controls the entire army of kufa he could
[34:45]have your head cut off in a split second and you dare
[34:47]to throw garbage at him go run after him go and apologize
[34:52]to him so he leaves his store and he goes after him
[34:55]he sees entering into a mosque in a masjid and he is
[35:02]so he went and he said next to malik as soon as
[35:07]malik finished the salah the man threw himself on malik's hand and
[35:11]he started apologizing malik said hold to calm down calm down do
[35:17]you even know why i came into the masjid and why i
[35:21]prayed the only reason why i came is to seek forgiveness for
[35:24]you so that allah forgives you for your act of transgression for
[35:28]your act of arrogance against me i forgave you before coming into
[35:33]the mosque you don't even need to seek an apolog an apology
[35:36]from me my dear friends let's learn to forgive others even those
[35:41]that wronged us 20 years ago from high school or elementary school
[35:46]i'm sure there was always someone that picked on us at elementary
[35:48]elementary school or high school and we have memories of those years
[35:56]forgive forgive learn to go on with life with a pure heart
[36:00]with a clean heart don't hold a grudge against your worst enemy
[36:05]against your worst enemy it'll feel so good trust me try it
[36:10]when you go home tonight after the lecture think of who wronged
[36:13]you in school at work a family member someone who made fun
[36:18]of you someone who ridiculed you someone who truly hurt your feelings
[36:22]tonight forgive that person and see how good it feels see how
[36:26]good it feels that you move on and you have that person
[36:29]forgiven was performing with he had a servant that was holding a
[36:44]water jug for imam abedin to perform was performing by accident that
[36:52]servant dropped the water jug and it fell on top of ibrahim
[36:55]abedin's face the servant thought that imam zela abedin is going to
[37:01]punish him to hurt him he said this is a verse in
[37:11]surat al-imran well meaning those who control their anger imam abedin says
[37:16]i control my anger and those who forgive others imam said it
[37:25]says i forgive you and then the verse says so the servant
[37:31]said well and allah loves the good doers imam said says i
[37:35]set you free for the sake of allah azzawajal who says no
[37:43]prophet was harmed and harassed and persecuted more than me not musa
[37:53]harassed like rasulullah by whom by the people of quraish his own
[38:01]family members his own uncle his cousins his family members harass rasool
[38:04]allah for so many years towards the end of his life after
[38:09]the conquest of mecca the people of mecca who harassed him for
[38:14]over 23 years and they killed his family members they killed his
[38:18]uncle hamza now rasulullah has gone with his army to mecca and
[38:25]has seized the city of mecca they come to him tells them
[38:33]what do you think i should do to you 23 years you've
[38:37]been finding me you've killed my family members you've harmed me for
[38:40]23 years what do you think i should do to you they
[38:44]told them [Music] we see you as a generous brother and a
[38:48]generous nephew he said i set you all free all of you
[38:55]are forgiven including the killer of hamza the one who killed his
[39:03]uncle hamza in the battle of ahud also allah set him free
[39:06]and he forgave him one day let's go towards let's go towards
[39:16]kufa tonight was speaking to a group of his companions a circle
[39:21]just like this this beautiful circle of young brothers he was admonishing
[39:26]them he was speaking to them one of the khawarij one of
[39:32]the enemies of amir muhammadin he heard the admonishment and he enjoyed
[39:37]it but he sees amir mohammed as a kafir so he said
[39:40]foreign but he's a scholar he knows what he's talking about so
[39:48]he was praising and at the same time he was ridiculing some
[39:52]of the companions of me they got up and they wanted to
[39:56]kill him they wanted to hurt him to beat him up for
[40:01]calling imam ali kaffir moment said hold on calm down he cursed
[40:13]me curse him back because he cursed me doesn't mean you get
[40:16]to beat him up or you get to kill him or or
[40:19]do whatever you want with him no a curse for a curse
[40:23]you forgive that sin you forgive that transgression he cursed me but
[40:30]i forgive him i forgive him on a night like this tonight
[40:35]the 21st the eve of the 21st of ramadan was spending his
[40:42]last moments his last moments and his killer his assassinator was captured
[40:47]he was in captivity i mean went to visit him and he
[40:55]saw he saw ibn muljam shaking from fear because abner knew that
[40:58]he was going to be killed for assassinating imam ali imam ali
[41:02]looks at imam al-hasan and he says my son be gentle with
[41:11]him be gentle with the one who killed me.
[41:18]be compassionate to him be person be merciful with him be kind
[41:24]with him the one who killed him do you not see the
[41:35]fear in his eyes be compassionate with him subhanallah where do you
[41:40]see this where do you see a victim being merciful and kind
[41:45]and compassionate with his own killer what my father this person killed
[41:58]you this person this person assassinated you told them yes my son
[42:02]but we are from a family that forgive those who harm us
[42:06]we are from a family that forgive those that oppress us i
[42:15]am telling you from now do not hold his do not tie
[42:20]his hands and feet give him food give him drink do not
[42:23]let him starve and if i die strike him once the same
[42:28]way that he hit me once strike him once you're not allowed
[42:32]to strike him more than that and do not cut him into
[42:36]pieces do not take your revenge upon him strike him once and
[42:38]that is it and if i live i will make the decision
[42:43]whether i'd like to kill him or forgive him but if ali
[42:47]ibn's were to live after the 21st of ramadan he would surely
[42:50]have forgiven abraham definitely i have no doubt that amir mu'min would
[42:54]have forgiven his own killer on a night like this the 21st
[43:03]the eve of the 21st of ramadan was given some yogurt and
[43:06]some milk to drink he drinks some of it and then he
[43:12]says take it to your captive your prisoner because he's hungry as
[43:17]well the same way that we eat he should eat as well
[43:22]take it to him tonight my dear brothers and sisters one quran
[43:27]comes down it could be so as one quran comes down another
[43:35]quran goes up the vocal quran the one that is a manifestation
[43:38]of the quran the one who implemented the quran throughout his entire
[43:44]life the vocal quran ascends and the written quran descends one quran
[43:50]goes up and another quran comes down in tonight is surrounded by
[43:58]his children by al-hasan hussain and zainab and abbas and one of
[44:05]the companions of imam ali he said i came i requested to
[44:10]to see my master for one last time hassan allows me to
[44:17]come he said i saw amir min wearing a yellow turban and
[44:22]his face was yellow i was not sure which one was more
[44:28]yellow his turban or his face he said i started crying comforted
[44:33]him told him i'm surely going to heaven said my master i
[44:44]am not crying for you i'm crying for myself we are losing
[44:51]i am sad that we are losing you this community is losing
[44:57]you this um did not know your value the people gather around
[45:17]ask me before you lose me enlighten your questions for the loss
[45:25]of your imam muhammad says that on the eve of the 21st
[45:33]of ramadan gathered his family members his cousins his children and he
[45:40]said he allah all of them one by one he started giving
[45:50]his last well last will to al-hassan when hussain and to his
[45:56]followers to his cousins to all of them giving them their last
[46:00]will muhammad he says we noticed that the imam became very pale
[46:07]and the poison had spread throughout his body his feet had turned
[46:14]red meaning that the poison had reached the feet of the imam
[46:18]and he kept on sweating he said i asked my master imam
[46:24]ali i see you removing your sweat from your forehead he said
[46:42]you know my my son i heard my cousin rasulullah say that
[46:49]when a man approaches death he begins sweating on his forehead meaning
[46:55]that death is near it is tonight that i will depart you
[47:14]and join my beloved rasulullah the same way that he had promised
[47:17]my son hassan if i die wash me put on my kef
[47:24]and and then put me on a bed and carry from the
[47:33]back of the bed as for the front of the bed it
[47:37]will be carried by angels and it will go into the desert
[47:42]follow these angels you will reach an area where the bed will
[47:48]stop dig in that area you will see a grave prepared for
[47:50]me from the time of adam and new and you will see
[47:57]inscriptions on that grave bury me bury me in that grave and
[48:03]pray over my body and when you perform tequila recite seven techbird
[48:08]and know that this is not allowed for any other muslim every
[48:14]muslim you recite five take birth under janazah except and another man
[48:19]that will come from his progeny at the end of time muhammad
[48:26]he looks to his sons abdullah is with those who remain patient
[48:50]and then he looked at imam hussain you are the martyr of
[48:57]this show some piety was and be patient over the calamities that
[49:05]you will see and then he passed out for an hour or
[49:16]so and when he woke up he said his place in heaven
[49:46]and he said for this let the good doers do good and
[49:57]then he sweated some more and he said he faced he brought
[50:10]his hands down he closed his eyes and his soul departed his
[50:16]body [Music] was foreign muhammad it was on a night like this
[51:58]a few days after like this were our beloved imam hasan took
[52:05]the father of the the body of their father on their back
[52:07]to the land of najaf where they found their grave prepared by
[52:12]noor and buried their beloved father our beloved imam beside on their
[52:22]way back they noticed an old man an elderly poor man crying
[52:26]they asked this man why are you crying man and he said
[52:31]over the past few years a stranger would come and leave me
[52:36]food at my door every night but over the past few days
[52:38]since islam was struck that food is no longer brought to me
[52:42]and it's here that we understand the greatness and the generosity of
[52:51]alibaba and it's here i say upon his body that upon oceans
[52:53]of tears oh ali your ship set sail angels embrace you with
[53:00]their wings and their wail prophets weep and prophets mourn as your
[53:06]absence leaves them torn the moon refuses to set watching your head
[53:13]with blood wet can this lion have those scars has ali with
[53:17]his death met adam's eyes upon you wept on his tears noah's
[53:23]ark sat your daughter drowned it in hers from her body her
[53:28]soul left every eye to you has a debt our tears their
[53:33]extinguished sunset with every tear falling our stars and your presence no
[53:39]one can forget in some eyes the undefeated was defeated but in
[53:44]your eyes o haider you succeeded with your death sorrows are born
[53:48]upon the earth that we live in strikes thunder as to ashes
[53:54]it would render every heart that loves ali like orphans our hearts
[54:00]are tender the one who was with grace and wonder he who
[54:03]upon him our minds ponder left upon the knights of destiny and
[54:11]fatherless we wonder orphans with no defender no ahad and no better
[54:16]upon this tragedy how many weeper haida allah orphaned without the father
[54:21]of orphans upon our heads shatters the skies and heavens with your
[54:28]absence dies the dawn from crying no one can refrain with your
[54:34]absence from crying no one can refrain from every eye tears are
[54:40]in pain fragile like a spider's web shattered by the tears that
[54:44]reign your battles left in the same this is the hero of
[54:50]hunain can the one who killed marhab on this might really be
[54:53]slain angels wail and angels contain angels whale and angels complain the
[54:59]desert sweep every grain and your absence is a broken rib within
[55:03]hassan and hussein eyes are tortured by the absence of ali is
[55:09]the one who conquered khaibar killed really to live in grief for
[55:16]hearts of sworn whales are the only sound as lowered into the
[55:21]ground and into dust is thus father and by dust heider is
[55:29]drowned a grave prepared your sons they found to this grave our
[55:33]hearts are bound receives you ardham and noah by your grave their
[55:37]graves are crowned your grave the angels surround and the sark and
[55:43]the stars circle around crying out farewell o kharaar their cheats with
[55:48]their wings they pound your absence leaves shrouds of darkness in our
[55:54]world we can only hope that in the next unto you we
[55:57]hold smiles from our faces are withdrawn as your absence leaves us
[56:04]torn angels embrace you with their wings and they wail angels embrace
[56:09]you with their wings and they will sally muhammad we know that
[56:19]tonight is the second night of qatar 20 late night 24th and
[56:24]also the night when imam ali asam departed i want you to
[56:28]take your minds slightly into the future at the same time a
[56:31]thousand years in the past the day of edelfitter as we know
[56:36]for all of us is a day of joy when we come
[56:40]together with our families we celebrate the end of ramadan we give
[56:43]each other gifts children are smiling we come together as families but
[56:46]there's one household 1400 years ago who will not be celebrating on
[56:52]this day and it's ironic because their father was the one who
[56:58]was known as the father of orphans as they say said a
[57:01]few days ago one of his last words to his children was
[57:05]allah make sure you look after the orphans the question rises who
[57:10]is looking after the orphans of allah islam these children who have
[57:15]already lost their mother father islam and now their father are left
[57:20]to suffer while orphans knock on the door asking where the father
[57:24]of them them is the one who would look after them and
[57:27]it's here in this last poem i want to speak to you
[57:31]with the voice of say this so close your eyes if you
[57:36]need to and come with me to the land of khufa on
[57:37]adolf hitler i say the zainab says you celebrate ending the month
[57:45]of fast we mourn the death of the completed crete you celebrate
[57:51]the ending of the month of fast we mourn the death of
[57:55]the completed creed all of you wish to spend aid with your
[57:58]father while we orphans weep for our father and eight the rise
[58:04]of aids joyous son makes us weep all celebrated while our family
[58:11]grieve our farewell to god's month had welcomed death chained by grief
[58:15]as all from their fasts were freed we'd watch all the blossoming
[58:20]roses wither every rose within our house we'd watch it bleed every
[58:26]house in kufa heard joy and laughter while our house the cry
[58:31]of yah ali would heed every house celebrates the breaking of their
[58:36]fast while we mourn the death of the greatest deed it's as
[58:41]if their fasting was not enough and our father's existence they envied
[58:45]with this envy stem from that same orphan that in secrecy our
[58:50]father would feed when our father returned from kufa's mosque to close
[58:56]their envious eyes all we'd plead while all believe that their deeds
[59:01]are accepted his absence his orphans have not believed as every house
[59:07]celebrates such a day which house wanders now which leader will now
[59:13]lead can a greater eye witness a new moon is there an
[59:18]alley to ali succeed can a greater eye witness the new moon
[59:22]is there an ali to ali succeed the eyes that rejoiced on
[59:28]their father's sight on this day upon their father have grieved while
[59:32]every child receives a present they kept our father from us out
[59:37]of greed to make ali's house fatherless on eid they gathered in
[59:42]their screaming and they agreed that in the absence of the walking
[59:46]quran our tears would fall upon verses we'd read and every tear
[59:51]would draw out a message that the orphans of ali their father
[59:56]need as families for this day would prepare his coffin my brothers
[60:02]accompanied as families for this day we prepare his coffin my brothers
[60:10]accompanied they wept hearing his voice echo within by the lord of
[60:14]the ka'ba i succeed the last remnants of any joy upon their
[60:20]shoulders shrouded they carried o ali whatever joy we had left deep
[60:25]within your grave with our souls we buried o ali whatever joy
[60:30]we had left deep within your grave our souls we bear it
[60:33]muhammad
