[2:16]sent him i sent they ask you about the crescent moons say
[3:31]they are measurements of time for the people and for and for
[3:36]pilgrimage and it is not righteous and it is not righteousness that
[3:42]you go to the houses from the backs but the righteous man
[3:46]is he who avoids such behavior enter houses by their doors and
[3:52]fear god so that you may be achievers as we continue in
[3:59]our series regarding the tafsir of the verses that begin with they
[4:05]ask you and as we we've talked about in previous nights that
[4:10]rasulullah was asked about many things and he was required to answer
[4:17]the answer would come from allah allah would tell him say ul
[4:22]and provide an answer answer last night we talked about the sacred
[4:27]months when rasulullah was asked about the sacred months the night before
[4:33]that we talked about wine and gambling tonight we examine a verse
[4:41]in which rasulullah was asked about the crescent moons a group of
[4:49]people came to rasulullah there are several narrations one is that a
[4:55]group of jews approached rasulullah and they asked him another narration says
[5:00]no some muslims mumineen approached rasulullah and they asked him about the
[5:05]crescent moons what's the philosophy behind these crescent moons why is it
[5:10]that in every month the moon becomes a crescent and then it
[5:15]becomes larger and it grows larger again and then it disappears and
[5:19]then it comes back as a crescent again and again and again
[5:24]what is the purpose behind it again and again and again what
[5:28]is the purpose behind all of this rasulullah was required to answer
[5:36]is the plural of hilaal its singular is hilaal and hilaal means
[5:47]a crescent means crescent and scholars have disagreed over when a moon
[5:55]is called a crescent and when is it called a moon some
[5:59]say the first two nights of every month it's called a crescent
[6:03]when you see it in the sky after that you call it
[6:06]a moon other scholars say you call it a crescent for three
[6:10]nights you call it a halal we saw the halal of the
[6:13]new moon and then it's called a moon other scholars say that
[6:19]it's up to seven nights the first seven nights of every month
[6:23]it's called a crescent a halal and then when it disappears or
[6:29]becomes larger it is called a moon say that the crescent moons
[6:43]say that they are a measurement of time for people allah has
[6:50]created these crescent moons every month we cite the new moon there's
[6:57]a new crescent and then in the following month there's an a
[7:00]new crescent and so on and so forth there's a purpose behind
[7:04]this although this is a a natural phenomenon this is part of
[7:09]nature but allah did not create this adam out of vain or
[7:15]in vain for no purpose no reason there's a reason behind this
[7:20]because it's a measurement of time how can we distinguish between a
[7:25]month and another month how can we distinguish between the years if
[7:30]it wasn't for the crescent moons it's because of the crescent moons
[7:33]that we can distinguish the new month and the new year and
[7:38]we can keep track of time i can know when my birthday
[7:42]is and you can know when your birthday is i can know
[7:44]when i got married and you can know when you got married
[7:47]and so on and so forth we need measurements of time to
[7:51]keep track of time there's another verse very similar allah says he
[8:00]is the one who made the sun a radiant source and the
[8:07]moon a reflected light with precisely ordained phases the moon has phases
[8:17]as it revolves around the earth why so that you may know
[8:27]the number of years and the calculation of time allah did not
[8:35]create all of this except for a purpose there's a purpose behind
[8:41]the earth revolving around the sun and the moon orbiting around the
[8:47]earth there's a purpose behind having days and nights and weeks and
[8:53]months allah did not create all of this except for a purpose
[9:01]he makes the signs clear for people of knowledge we will come
[9:10]back to this point so we go back you see they didn't
[9:17]ask about why a moon is created or how a moon is
[9:21]created otherwise the verse would have said they would have asked you
[9:27]they ask you about a crescent but they're not asking a about
[9:30]a specific crescent nor are they asking about the moon and the
[9:36]nature of the moon and why does it revolve around or orbit
[9:39]around the earth otherwise they would have said yes rather the verse
[9:44]says which is a plural of hila they ask you about crescent
[9:50]moons in every month there's a new crescent the month of ramadan
[9:55]had a crescent and the month of shawwal has a new crescent
[9:58]and the month of the and so on and so forth in
[10:00]every month there's a new crescent and we set the moon with
[10:05]this new crescent you see my dear friends we human beings we
[10:14]need measurements of time we can't live without some sort of measurement
[10:20]for time and that is why we have days and nights we
[10:25]have weeks and months and years imagine if all of our all
[10:31]of our times were days and there was no night or if
[10:36]it was just night and it was never day imagine how horrible
[10:41]would life would be in addition to the scientific fact that we
[10:44]are in need of sunlight but we wouldn't be able to distinguish
[10:48]between the days all of the days would have been the same
[10:52]monday tuesday wednesday none of these would have existed how do we
[10:56]have monday because the night before there was night and on monday
[11:01]night there's a night in between two days there's a night and
[11:05]that is what that is how we're able to differentiate between the
[11:11]various days and we need this because we have various schedules we
[11:16]have timings our actions are based on time our acts of worship
[11:24]for example the month of ramadan ramadan is time based it's in
[11:29]a specific month how would we know the month of ramadan without
[11:32]citing the new crescent hajj is time based there are months for
[11:37]hajj hajj is three months the period where a person can go
[11:46]to hajj or is financially capable is three months i'm sorry shawwal
[11:53]and then hajj these are called the months of hajj how do
[11:57]we know them through the crescent allah has acts of worship ordained
[12:03]for us that we have to perform on a time based it's
[12:06]just talking time of taxes we're in the tax month in april
[12:12]everyone has to pay their tax there's a specific time for it
[12:16]this obligation has a specific time you have to keep up with
[12:19]the calendar you have to keep up with the date otherwise the
[12:23]time misses the time misses you or you miss the date and
[12:27]you haven't paid your taxes and then you get in trouble yes
[12:36]these crescent moons are measurements of time for people and for hajj
[12:47]so without these measurements of time life would have been very difficult
[12:54]things would have been very complicated hence allah through the help of
[13:01]technology we divided time into smaller increments we need this we have
[13:07]a year and then we have four seasons and every year has
[13:11]twelve months as we talked about a couple of nights ago that
[13:17]allah the day that he created the universe he created it in
[13:22]such an order that there's twelve months in the book of allah
[13:27]in the book of creation so we need measurements of time we
[13:31]have a year we have a month we have a week and
[13:34]then we make it smaller we have a day and then every
[13:37]day there's twenty four hours and every hour there's sixty minutes in
[13:40]every minute there's seconds need we as human beings we need this
[13:45]sort of measurement in time for our everyday lives for medical purposes
[13:52]for meetings for acts of worship four four four there's so many
[13:56]reasons why we need these measurements of time for our schedules our
[14:03]meetings our trips how can you plan a trip if you don't
[14:06]have a measurement of time you want to travel next week if
[14:10]there is no week how would you be able to schedule an
[14:15]appointment so this is a there's a purpose behind all of this
[14:20]also to keep track of history now we know the years and
[14:26]the dates i know what year i was born you know what
[14:30]year you were born main events wars elections the main events in
[14:37]history we know exactly when they occurred and this helps us we
[14:41]need to keep track of history we need to keep track of
[14:44]time allah subhanahu wa ta'ala created these moons and these measurements of
[14:50]time for us to keep our lives in order without chaos otherwise
[14:56]life would have been chaotic and this leads me to say that
[15:02]there are some people have no track of time time for them
[15:07]is none of the essence time for them is not something important
[15:11]it is so important to keep track of time to have a
[15:14]schedule for some people all the days are the same what are
[15:18]you doing tomorrow i don't know what are you doing next week
[15:21]i don't know next month i don't know they don't have a
[15:25]schedule they're spontaneous they go with the flow whatever comes to their
[15:29]mind they do this is not a person that is organized an
[15:34]organized person has an organized schedule they know what they will do
[15:38]on the weekend they will they know what they will do next
[15:41]month and in the following months this year and next year there's
[15:45]a schedule because time is of the essence time is running out
[15:52]have you seen a person who sells ice in the summer this
[15:58]person has to be quick because what he's selling is melting away
[16:03]so too is our time our time is running out in this
[16:06]life so we make use of it by having schedules by planning
[16:12]our events by planning our daily schedules of knowing what to do
[16:17]you know back home and maybe this applies to people here as
[16:21]well people have no sense of timing and scheduling that's why you
[16:25]see people they stop by at your house without a prior notice
[16:30]all of a sudden they they knock at your door and they
[16:33]sit for hours for them it's not enough to sit for thirty
[16:36]minutes or forty five minutes or an hour they sit for hours
[16:39]why because they have nothing else to do for them time is
[16:44]meaningless and in fact they want to waste time they have too
[16:48]much time on their hands that they want to waste they don't
[16:51]have they don't schedule appointments the scheduling of appointments we learned it
[16:56]here in western society there's appointments there's a schedule you have to
[17:01]respect people's times you can't just call someone without scheduling an appointment
[17:06]you have to text you have to get an appointment first because
[17:11]time is of the essence they ask you about crescent moons say
[17:25]they are measurements of time now i'd like to say something about
[17:28]moon sighting my dear friends this is an issue that occurs every
[17:31]year every year every year during ramadan in the beginning of the
[17:36]month of ramadan and in the end of the month of ramadan
[17:38]in the beginning of shawwal when the moon is sighted and we
[17:42]see and and we see fights arguments debates was the moon sighted
[17:49]was the moon night sighted which merger do you follow which merger
[17:52]do you follow when did you start ramadan when did you start
[17:56]ramadan when did you have eid and so on and so forth
[17:58]every day there's a debate let me explain this debate to you
[18:04]in five minutes very very quickly you see the first debate is
[18:09]the following when we sight the moon does it have to be
[18:14]physically sighted or can we rely on scientific calculations here some scholars
[18:20]say that although rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said fast according to
[18:26]moon sighting break your fast according to moon sighting however the moon
[18:34]to be sighted it only declares the beginning of the month so
[18:38]if there's another means of knowing when the the new month has
[18:43]began it can rely on scientific calculations you don't necessarily need to
[18:47]sight the moon with your own eyes traditional scholars say no you
[18:53]have to sight the moon rasulullah said begin fasting by sighting the
[19:00]moon when you see the moon fast when you see the moon
[19:03]break your fast rasulullah didn't say anything about scientific calculations he didn't
[19:09]say anything about referring to astronomers this is the first debate the
[19:15]second debate is whether the moon okay let's say that the moon
[19:19]has to be sighted and we cannot rely on scientific calculations does
[19:24]the moon have to be sighted by the naked eye or can
[19:27]we rely on technology can we rely on binoculars or telescopes here
[19:33]too there's a debate amongst scholars some say when rasulullah said begin
[19:40]fasting when you sight the moon how did muslims at the time
[19:45]sight the moon by the naked eye or by using binoculars and
[19:49]telescopes obviously by the naked eye we have to take what was
[19:54]available at the time that rasulullah spoke to his companions what they
[19:58]understood from his hadith and they obviously understood that the the moon
[20:03]should be sighted by the naked eye and not by any use
[20:07]of technology on the other hand other scholars say that what's the
[20:11]difference if i see the moon with my naked eye i'm sighting
[20:16]the moon if i use binoculars and telescopes i'm also sighting the
[20:20]moon in both cases i'm sighting the moon i'm seeing the moon
[20:24]and islam came for all times and all ages islam did not
[20:29]just come for the sahaba of rasulullah for the first era of
[20:34]islam islam came for all times and all periods rasulullah knew that
[20:39]one day there will be binoculars and telescopes so when he said
[20:41]sight the moon and he knew that we could use binoculars then
[20:45]that should be fine a third debate among scholars is that does
[20:51]the moon have to be sighted in your vicinity or could it
[20:55]be could it be sighted in another vicinity for example we didn't
[21:00]see the moon here in detroit michigan but they saw it in
[21:04]new york is that enough we didn't see the moon but they
[21:07]saw it in for example los angeles in california or in peru
[21:12]or in brazil is that enough here again there's a debate de
[21:17]relying on the various narrations and what these scholars what our jurists
[21:23]understood from the narrations some jurists what they understood from the hadith
[21:27]is that you have to sight the moon in your own vicinity
[21:31]within four hundred a radius of 400 kilometers if you sight the
[21:36]moon outside of that area that's not that's not good enough for
[21:39]you it's good enough for them but not for you while there
[21:43]are other scholars that believe that if the moon is sighted anywhere
[21:49]anywhere it is enough for the entire globe if there's you know
[21:55]if some of the night they share some of the night if
[22:00]it's still night for example in brazil and detroit they share some
[22:04]of the night it's enough they said it's good for us as
[22:08]well and then the verse says and it is not righteousness that
[22:22]you go to the houses from the backs what is this verse
[22:27]trying to say here there's a debate amongst scholars one group of
[22:32]scholars say that this was a habit amongst the people of jahiliyyah
[22:38]in mecca before islam there was a habit in the state of
[22:42]ihram you know when you go to mecca you're in a state
[22:45]of ihram in medina you you put on your ihram you go
[22:49]to masjid al shajra you perform talbiyah and you go to mecca
[22:52]you're in that you're in a state of haram during the days
[22:55]of jahiliyah which they practiced hajj because hajj supersedes islam hajj started
[23:01]from the days of ibrahim al khalil alaihi salam from the days
[23:04]of prophet ibrahim so all of this time people have been practicing
[23:08]hajj during the days of jahiliyah one of the things that they
[23:13]would not do is that they would not enter their homes from
[23:16]the front doors if they needed to enter their homes they would
[23:19]enter the homes from their back doors so the quran says do
[23:27]not go to your home do not enter homes through the back
[23:32]doors so islam put an end to this jahili practice last night
[23:38]we talked about jahili practices and beliefs that some some of these
[23:43]practices islam rejected completely and there are some practices that islam altered
[23:50]modified accepted but modified this was a practice that islam rejected whatsoever
[23:56]this is one opinion another opinion says that this verse is speaking
[24:02]metaphorically it's a figurative it's it's a figure of speech when allah
[24:07]says don't open don't enter a house from the back door rather
[24:13]enter a house from its front door allah is speaking metaphorically allah
[24:18]is trying to say that go through the rightful means whatever it
[24:25]is that you want to do do it right go through the
[24:28]right means seek the right approach let me give you an example
[24:33]you want to get a job for example you want to work
[24:37]at a prestigious law firm there's steps there's a procedure you have
[24:42]to get your law degree you have to pass the bar exam
[24:46]you have to make sure that your grades are good you have
[24:49]to get recommendation letters you have to have a an excellent cv
[24:55]and then you go and apply to a job and you get
[24:57]that job but there are some that try to enter the house
[25:00]from the bank they want to make use of connections they want
[25:03]to see who knows who do they have friends at this law
[25:06]firm does their father have a friend at that law firm do
[25:10]they know anyone that any connections that could get them in the
[25:13]law firm this is not right that's entering a house from the
[25:17]back door you see islam says whatever it is that you want
[25:20]to do you want to start a business take the right steps
[25:24]there's right steps for any for everything you want to become a
[25:27]manager there's right steps you want to become a teacher there's the
[25:31]correct steps whatever it is that you want to do do the
[25:34]correct steps don't try to as they say in the uk as
[25:38]my brother nudi would say don't try to jump the queue don't
[25:42]try to jump the line don't look for loopholes you wanna start
[25:47]a business you want the easy way out doesn't work that way
[25:51]it doesn't work that way do it in steps whatever it is
[25:55]that you want to do you see the quran is speaking in
[25:59]metaphoric terms you want to start a business you start with a
[26:04]loan you get a loan and then you do your research and
[26:08]you try to discover which business works what you're good at is
[26:13]this business good for this city who am i competing against should
[26:17]i open a restaurant or should i open a cafe will it
[26:20]work will it not work you do your homework you do your
[26:22]research and you take the right steps no one becomes a millionaire
[26:26]overnight you don't own $10,000 and then all of a sudden the
[26:30]next day you own $10,000,000 there are steps there's ways you have
[26:34]to go through the right doors rather go to the front door
[26:54]whatever it is that you wanna do go through the front door
[26:57]go through the rightful means don't try to jump the queue don't
[27:01]look for loopholes don't try to cheat your way out there are
[27:04]some people they're ambitious they wanna be someone they wanna be somebody
[27:09]they wanna be a member of congress for example good you wanna
[27:14]be a member of congress good for you but there's ways there's
[27:18]ways it won't happen through connections maybe back home in my country
[27:22]and your country we can reach places depending on who we know
[27:27]who's friends with my father or who's a friend of my family
[27:31]who do i know will get me in that place but it
[27:35]doesn't always work that way because it's not based on criteria right
[27:40]if i wanna reach somewhere i have to reach it by my
[27:43]own merit because i deserved it because i earned it i have
[27:47]to go through the rightful means enter homes to the rightful doors
[28:05]now the al al bayt they have a deeper meaning to this
[28:09]verse sometimes the al al bayt we have to refer to them
[28:12]and refer to their narrations to receive a deeper meaning to the
[28:16]verse when we read the hadith of al al bayt they tell
[28:20]us that this verse is speaking about something much deeper much deeper
[28:25]enter a city through its gate what does this remind you of
[28:30]a city has to be entered through its gate a house has
[28:33]to be entered through its gate i am the city of knowledge
[28:49]and ali is its gate he who wishes to enter the city
[28:52]has to enter from its gate you see how the verse takes
[28:57]us back to amir al mumineen alaihis salam so many times time
[29:02]and time again that we see the quran takes us back to
[29:06]amir al mumineen takes us back to fatima tazarah takes us back
[29:09]to al bayt and indeed we want to get to rasoolallah we
[29:15]start with aliybn abi talib we want to get to allah we
[29:18]start with aliybn abi talib who was closer to rasoolallah more than
[29:24]amir al mumineen alaihi salam who was it next to rasulullah when
[29:30]jibreel came down upon rasulullah and he said wasn't it other than
[29:39]amir al mumineen alam nabi talib who was in the cave who
[29:43]would hear what rasulullah was hearing and rasulullah told him you hear
[29:51]what i hear and you see what i see except the fact
[29:58]that you're not a prophet i'm a prophet and you're not a
[30:01]prophet who is closer than amir al mumineen who slept in the
[30:07]bed of rasulullah at the night that rasulullah escaped from mecca from
[30:13]medina i'm sorry from mecca to medina who was it that sacrificed
[30:19]his life although that he knew there would be a danger in
[30:23]sleeping in the bed of rasulullah that special night when rasulullah migrated
[30:28]when he left mecca to medina he wanted someone to stay in
[30:31]his bed when quraysh had gathered around the house of rasoolallah wanting
[30:36]to kill him in the middle of the night there was a
[30:38]conspiracy against the life of rasoolallah it was ali ibn abi talib
[30:42]who said i am willing to sleep in your position who is
[30:48]it that was in every single battle of rasoolallah and who would
[30:53]stand in front of rasoolallah and not allow a single scratch to
[30:58]happen to rasoolallah's body protected him in every battle in every war
[31:05]who is it that rasulullah gave his daughter to when some of
[31:12]the top sahaba came to propose to fatima to zahra rasoolallah rejected
[31:17]them he rejected them the top sahaba they were rejected except ali
[31:22]ibn abi talib imir al mumin alaihi salam rasoolallah gave his daughter
[31:26]to ali ibn abi talib who is it that the quran alludes
[31:30]to from the beginning from surah al fateha to surah tanas who
[31:35]is it other than ali ibn abi talib who was it that
[31:40]was born in the house of allah and was killed in the
[31:44]house of allah and in between he lived a life all for
[31:48]the sake of allah it was none other than ali ibn abiutalib
[31:52]amir al mumineen it was a night like this the eve of
[31:57]the nineteenth of ramadan that emir al mu'mineen had his iftar at
[32:02]the house of his daughter ummun kultum the final night that emir
[32:07]al mu'mineen would have iftar he would leave the house of ummah
[32:13]kulthum and he would look at the moon and he would look
[32:17]in the skies and he would say by god this is the
[32:27]night that i've been promised by my beloved cousin by my beloved
[32:32]prophet knew that this was the night umu kulthum brought some bread
[32:41]and salt and some yogurt amir mamadin said what are you doing
[32:47]my daughter why are you hurting me she said how am i
[32:51]hurting you he said yes you are hurting me when have you
[32:54]seen me eat something with bread take the yogurt and keep the
[32:58]dry bread with salt this is the only thing that amir al
[33:02]mumineen ate during iftar on a night like this spending the night
[33:06]in the remembrance of allah the entire night this was the one
[33:11]of the final nights that amir al mumineen had his munajat with
[33:15]allah azzawajal finally before the time of fajr amir al mumineen leaves
[33:22]the house of ummu kulthum and goes towards his mosque at the
[33:27]door his belt got stuck in the door and it unraveled amir
[33:34]mumminin took back his belt he put it on and he began
[33:37]to say put on your belt for death on your belt for
[33:57]death the same time that made you smile it will make you
[34:02]cry amir al as he was leaving the house of ummu kultum
[34:06]there were ducks there were chicken and ducks at the door they
[34:09]began to shout as if predicting that moments from now amir al
[34:14]mumineen will leave this life when he saw this when he saw
[34:18]the ducks and and chickens shouting he said cries of ducks that
[34:26]will be followed by wailing and crying he entered the masjid of
[34:32]al kufa he saw abdul rahman ibn mujjam and he was lying
[34:36]on his stomach he went to wake him up yahadah this is
[34:41]the sleep of shaitan do not sleep on your stomach wake up
[34:45]it is time for salat al fajr amir al mumineen goes on
[34:50]top of the roof of the mosque tonight is the night that
[34:54]the kufa the people of kufa will hear the adan of amir
[34:58]al mumineen one final time never again will the people of kufa
[35:03]be reminded of the voice of amir al mumineen saying allahu akbar
[35:07]allahu akbar ashadu allah ila allah and then amir al mumineen came
[35:13]into his mihraab he stood ibn amuljam came and stood behind him
[35:18]with his sword under underneath his clothing the sword it was dipped
[35:24]into poison it wasn't enough that he had a sharp sword prepared
[35:28]for ali ibn abi talib but the sword was dipped into poison
[35:32]so that the injury will be fatal amir al mumineen stood to
[35:37]pray allahu akbar he recited al fatiha he recited the surah he
[35:41]goes back he bounds down for his ruku and then he bounds
[35:45]down for his sujood as soon as he lifts his head ibn
[35:48]maljam takes his sword and he strikes ali ibn abi talib on
[35:52]his head amir al mumineen falls blood gushes in his mihrab the
[35:57]first sentence that he utters is fussed to warab bil kaaba by
[36:02]the owner of the kaaba i have been victorious i have won
[36:09]immediately the people of kufa begin running and screaming the doors of
[36:15]the mosque are shut in order to capture ibn muldjem and people
[36:19]hear jibrael in the sky shout they captured ibn abul jam al
[36:36]hassan wal hussein come next to their father who's bleeding in his
[36:40]mihrab they come next to him and they see their father in
[36:44]that tragic state my dear brothers and sisters remain seated my dear
[37:34]brother nouri sadar has verses of poetry to recite and then after
[37:39]that we will all meet in the big hall for the aman
[37:42]of laylat al qadr that we will recite together inshaallah muhammad wa'alee
[37:47]muhammad as we know the last words of emir mawini or the
[38:05]first words rather he cried when he was struck was by the
[38:08]lord of the ka'bah i have succeeded this is the man who
[38:12]never lost any battle badr ahud hanaen he was always there standing
[38:17]defending the holy prophet peace be upon him and it was when
[38:21]he was struck by ibn muldjim that he declared by allah the
[38:26]tongue of ali is speaking by allah i swear i have succeeded
[38:28]now therefore one can say almost that imam alaihi salam although his
[38:34]wounds were great they say that when ibn mujjim struck him he
[38:37]was raising his head from sujood as the sword of ibn mujjam
[38:41]came down to his head even though the strike was severe even
[38:46]though he suffered from poison one can argue that he was not
[38:51]the main victim of those three nights because you aiyah alaihi salam
[38:56]was going back toward his beloved toward allah who he dedicated his
[39:00]entire life to serving he's going back to his brother the holy
[39:05]prophet muhammad and back to his beloved fatima alaihi salaam rather the
[39:12]victims are two one his children imam hussein alaihi salaam imam hassan
[39:20]sayyidah zainab alaihi salaam abu allah abbas all waiting in his house
[39:24]to mourn him this pillar of their house who after having lost
[39:28]their mother remains with them will leave their lives and lead them
[39:33]to succumb to the oppression that they will all face collectively together
[39:36]going forward especially say the zainab how much he will suffer and
[39:41]they say the other victims are the orphans of kufa the orphans
[39:46]of iraq the orphans all over the world who would come knocking
[39:49]on the door where is the one who would feed us where
[39:53]is the one who would sustain us where is the one who
[39:56]would carry food on his back in the dead of the night
[39:58]to keep us from dying of hunger it's in this moment i
[40:03]want you to go back to the sayyid musiba and to that
[40:07]night in kufa away from this place take your minds all the
[40:11]way to kufa as imam ali alaihi salam is leaving his house
[40:15]and as the sayyid said the birds start to wail and lament
[40:19]and scream and they say his daughter knew something was wrong she
[40:24]says oh ali why are these birds screaming he knows what will
[40:28]happen and he goes toward the mosque and it's here that i
[40:32]see the sun delay its ascent out of fear scared to see
[40:38]ali's state when upon earth it would appear a night that seems
[40:43]so much longer than it would appear begins to weep when a
[40:47]small sentence it would hear ali enters the mosque within his eye
[40:51]a tear as he says get up ibn mujim don't delay your
[40:55]prayer get up ibn mujim don't delay your prayer rise out and
[41:00]carry your faith to my lord i'll prostrate to his death he
[41:04]consents as the universe laments i see faith and what's written all
[41:10]in division to change what's written i see trying all of creation
[41:15]cries the dust that would once yearn his frustration saying my beloved
[41:19]pray elsewhere before you meet your doom the moon attempts to prolong
[41:25]its circulation saying how can i leave and rise tomorrow as an
[41:30]orphan how can i leave and rise tomorrow as an orphan everything
[41:35]for him weeps as fate upon him seeps undying bereavements as the
[41:40]universe laments ali i see that your name brings the call to
[41:45]prayer its grace you testify in one allah and your faith you
[41:49]embrace you cup your ears for prayer as cries the kaaba you
[41:53]face don't pray there oh haydar return to your birthplace the sound
[41:58]of thunder to the heavens i can retrace to bear the weight
[42:02]of jibra'i's call i see that the worlds brace as worlds towards
[42:07]kufa tilt to see if blood has been spilt all scents become
[42:11]death scents as the universe laments your gaze is fixed upon allah
[42:16]whilst all to you would turn you yearn your lord while ali
[42:20]everything would yearn you prostrate to your lord while your cheeks your
[42:24]tears burn how will i meet your my lord how will i
[42:28]meet my lord is your only concern in your fear your final
[42:32]prostration you lengthen saying we belong to allah and to allah we
[42:37]shall return you rise and his sword descends as its blade your
[42:44]skull bends poison in its remnants as the universe laments jibrael's cry
[42:52]to beyond existence it soared and from the eyes of the uncreated
[42:57]tears would pour your head and your fast both broken by a
[43:02]poisoned sword for breaking your fast you are apologetic to your lord
[43:07]don't weep oh haydar because the seven heavens applaud and your throne
[43:12]in the highest of heavens is assured let your calamities drown with
[43:17]all with all your worries your lord heaven presents the universe laments
[43:23]tears in our eyes burst just as the veins in your head
[43:27]burst no man thinks of water when for you ali is their
[43:33]thirst the wielder of that sword he prepares for the worst after
[43:38]all your haydar ali who would blame an outburst the father of
[43:43]hassan was killed within his fast the martyr who would offer his
[43:48]killer water first offer this man water he says this is haydak
[43:53]qarar his soul your love torments as the universe laments anarchy is
[44:00]in creation his death would create anarchy in creation ali's death would
[44:06]create everything mourns ali every hour is late i want you oh
[44:12]ali's lover to contemplate you who the love of your the love
[44:16]of ali would your life dictate remember today when for fajr you
[44:22]prostrate that within that first prostration ali met his fate remember today
[44:29]when for fajr you prostrate that within that prostration ali met his
[44:34]fate everything bids farewell to the beloved that fell his martyrdom torments
[44:40]as the universe laments his martyrdom torments as the universe laments
