[0:10]m now I think unmuted ask questions they won't come out so
[1:02]you can just un oh uh you mean the Audio I think
[1:07]uh it's unmuted I think so I believe so yeah it's unmuted
[1:23]thank you and our last lesson we were looking at the um
[1:31]which was narrated for us by IM uh IM sorry it was
[1:43]narrated for us by he said said that said whatever we mentioned
[1:54]last week regarding his question about and the prophet sallallah alai wasallam
[1:58]answered him he told them who are one by one mentioned their
[2:03]names and then when speaking about the last luminary the last IM
[2:10]the prophet went into detail uh he mentioned several details regarding uh
[2:18]so he mentioned the name saying he is he holds my name
[2:23]he holds my and then the prophet mentioned what will happen What
[2:29]will be one of IM M's great or greatest accomplishment now the
[2:36]prophet also mentioned s that there will be a there will be
[2:41]a period of occultation in which will be away from his followers
[2:47]away in the sense that they will not know where he is
[2:52]and as we said last week if they were to see him
[2:55]in many cases or most cases they would not recognize him now
[3:02]now he said that uh the only people who will remain faithful
[3:07]during that will be the people whose hearts are tested by Allah
[3:11]subhana tala saying and we said that here what we understand from
[3:23]the tradition is that Allah subana will put the followers of through
[3:29]tests and the point or one of the points Behind These tusks
[3:33]is to raise them is to elevate them to higher levels so
[3:41]they'll be tested with various tests or various kinds of tests and
[3:47]Allah subhana will will want to uh Elevate them through these pasts
[3:52]such that they they got to a point where their faith is
[4:00]what pure Faith their faith is pure faith and their faith is
[4:05]NeverEnding Faith so they continue to believe in Allah and until their
[4:15]last breath now what helps us understand the narration or helps us
[4:23]acquire a better understanding of the ntion is a um a uh
[4:30]Ayah an Ayah in because when skimming through the Quran you realize
[4:35]similar term was used in the Quran Allah did mention the test
[4:43]of the hearts in the Quran but instead of saying Quran said
[4:51]where did it mention this issue of the test of the hearts
[4:58]in let me send you the Ayah and we'll take a quick
[5:06]look at its meaning and we'll mention what the MU the commentators
[5:11]on the Quran said in regards to this Holy Verse linking the
[5:26]verses to the narrations of and linking the narrations to the verses
[5:30]helps us understand the verses of God or the narrations of this
[5:42]is the third Ayah this is Ayah three of the third ay
[5:50]Allah says by the way is is a Surah in which Allah
[5:58]T mentioned uh very important topics regarding such that some Scholars called
[6:03]it the chapter of of morals in it Allah mentions and how
[6:10]we should not backbite each other in it Allah mentions spying on
[6:15]one another Etc and he says do not spy or do not
[6:24]spy on each other so in the third verse he says subhah
[6:28]waala indeed those who lower their voices in the presence of the
[6:49]Apostle of Allah they are the ones whose Hearts Allah has tested
[6:54]for God weariness for them will be forgiveness and a great reward
[7:00]Allah T in this chapter taught the Muslim and teaches the Muslims
[7:05]that in the presence of one has to um not only uphold
[7:13]good manners or good morals but on top of that he must
[7:16]uh respect you must respect in fact he must highly respect which
[7:23]is obviously part of what upholding good manners or upholding good morals
[7:28]a person should should lower his voice in the presence of the
[7:35]holy prophet sallallah alai should not he should not raise his voice
[7:38]such that his voice is louder than the voice of the holy
[7:44]prophet or such that he is yelling forid at the holy prophet
[7:48]sallai wasam hence um the incident we mentioned last week when we
[7:57]were talking about what happened in in um when the prophet mentioned
[8:03]the 12 IMS and how certain so-called Muslim began making noise purposely
[8:10]in some traditions they began performing in some traditions they began doing
[8:17]they began screaming that is a sad event which shows you thatas
[8:23]Allah unfortunately was disrespected in fact highly disrespected by some individuals uh
[8:29]known as Muslims today or no as companions it's very very sad
[8:35]so Allah says Those Who lower their voices in the presence of
[8:44]the same wording is use they are the ones whose Hearts has
[8:50]whose Hearts Allah has tested but in the verse Allah mentions in
[8:55]theth the prophet mentions all right because the the the context is
[9:02]is different Allah says he has tested uh Allah has tested their
[9:08]hearts for God weariness what did the MU say some mu said
[9:17]in regards to this verse that the lamb the letter lamb in
[9:28]the word points to the goal behind the tests this is what
[9:31]we call so Allah is saying that there was a goal Behind
[9:38]these tests what was the goal Ya Allah the goal was to
[9:42]make these people Pious so I tested them I tested their hearts
[9:48]so that they reached the level of tawa level of piety and
[9:57]then he promises these individuals a great reward he promises to give
[10:03]them two great gifts for them will be forgiveness forgiveness of their
[10:07]sins that in itself is more than enough right but on top
[10:15]of that and a great reward so by looking at the Ayah
[10:22]reading what the MU said about it by looking at it and
[10:24]reading what the MU sorry mu said about the Ayah we're able
[10:28]to understand the the narration of the Prophet sallallahu alai wasallam better
[10:35]here in Allah mentions that he tested their hearts so that they
[10:45]may become Pious in the narration of he's saying Allah will test
[10:52]the hearts of the Believers so that what they reach meaning they
[10:58]reach a level of IM such that they don't turn their backs
[11:04]on their IM this opens a new door for us previously we
[11:10]understood or we should have understood that uh when Allah subhana wa
[11:16]tala tests Us in this world if we pass the test we
[11:21]get rewarded right in if we fail the tests such that we
[11:30]um we leave this world in a state of disbelief or in
[11:36]a state of hypocrisy or we leave as people who doubt in
[11:41]the truth then we will be doomed in the Hereafter right but
[11:46]here the prophet is opening a new door for us telling us
[11:49]that the of Allah subhah wa ta'ala uh help you elevate they
[11:58]help you become better people stronger people so the test we go
[12:05]through in whether we're talking about minor or major tests whether we're
[12:11]talking about Salah lowering your gaze refraining from backbiting uh respecting your
[12:19]parents upholding um a good relationship with your family members being a
[12:25]kind spouse so on so forth each of these tests contributes in
[12:29]what in bringing us to a higher level to a higher status
[12:35]in the eyes of Allah subh and each of these tasks contributes
[12:39]in making us better or stronger followers of the IM we said
[12:50]this one and we'll say it again sorry all the things let's
[12:57]say you're excelling all of them one of would that lower your
[13:04]status to the point of being on just that one level for
[13:13]example or like other four that you're excellent in kind of raise
[13:17]your status and the way so we said last week if you
[13:23]remember if someone fails one test it doesn't necessarily mean that he's
[13:26]going to be doomed in uh suppose someone back bites a fellow
[13:33]believer it doesn't mean he's done for in he's going to be
[13:39]in the lowest pits of Hellfire that's not the case he did
[13:41]something bad something actually really bad but he can he can uh
[13:48]do something to compensate for the sin to wash the sin away
[13:51]J so long that you're alive and you're you know um you
[13:57]you're you're not witnessing the the Affairs of the Hereafter then you
[14:01]still have the chance to repent so long that you're alive you're
[14:06]in the sakarat have not begun then you still have the chance
[14:13]to to repent can you repent even when sakarat begin we'll talk
[14:16]about that but for now let's talk about aun so along that
[14:21]you're in and sakarat have not begun you have the chance to
[14:24]repent you can fix your mistake fixed his mistake one minutes or
[14:34]hours before his Shah literally minutes or hours from the time he
[14:39]repented till the time of his shahada how many minutes passed by
[14:45]a few minutes five 15 30 let's say two three hours sure
[14:50]no problem that change which happened a few hours before his Shada
[14:54]changed his faith in the herea had he not repented today we'd
[15:02]say l would say may Allah curse him right we love he
[15:04]has a a special spot in our hearts but had he not
[15:09]repented we' say he'd be with correct he'd be with with with
[15:17]but when he repented what happened he moved from the lowest pits
[15:25]of Hellfire to the highest stations in heaven yeah he came from
[15:31]so you can change uh that's number one number two Allah subhanahu
[15:39]waala Allah takes all of our deeds into consideration someone uh might
[15:49]have a particular weakness towards a particular sin and because of that
[15:55]weakness he falls into that sin sometimes or many times okay then
[16:03]again that individual that same individual who has a particular weakness he
[16:08]has multiple strong points for example when it comes to prayer he
[16:16]prays he he he excels he's he's praying well um when it
[16:19]comes to fasting he fasts sh Ramadan and when it comes to
[16:24]other good deeds he also performs those good deeds so here what's
[16:28]going to happen um these Good Deeds might affect him in a
[16:36]way where sooner or later that weakness of his is removed because
[16:40]of what because of the The Good Deeds that he is doing
[16:44]also the Good Deeds that he does might compensate for the sin
[16:52]meaning the Good Deeds might wash away the sin makes sense now
[16:57]this does not mean that a person should give himself the green
[17:02]light to sin day and night because he can wash away the
[17:04]sin with good deeds La that's not how it works we should
[17:08]intend on obeying Allah at all times but what I'm saying is
[17:12]we shouldn't lose hope why for multiple reasons one Allah is the
[17:17]most merciful out of those who are merciful number two as we
[17:20]said so long that you are in have not beg gun you
[17:25]can you can repent number three The Good Deeds can wash away
[17:28]the bad deeds and Quran has say has said it surely Good
[17:35]Deeds push away bad Deeds now one for this verse that I
[17:43]just mentioned which is found in the narrations of is that the
[17:48]here the Good Deeds here are the five daily Sal when someone
[17:55]performs the salaat the salawat do what they they wash away the
[18:00]sins that take place before them so if someone for example prayed
[18:07]at 10 a.m.
[18:11]he did something wrong he he said a bad word a vuler
[18:16]word which Isam the time for kicked him he prayed washes away
[18:27]the sin he committed when he uttered the vulgar word he prayed
[18:33]he was a good boy up until after let's say he sinned
[18:40]he did something wrong the time for kicked in when he does
[18:46]washes away the sin he committed after after away that it should
[19:00]it should yeah it should in in short the the prayers that
[19:05]we do they're very strong they have a very strong effect of
[19:08]course when you perform the Salat with with Focus or let me
[19:14]say with more Focus the prayer will have a stronger effect if
[19:18]you perform your prayer with less Focus obviously the effect of the
[19:21]prayer will will diminish makees sense so yes our sins do bring
[19:31]us down but our Good Deeds bring us up Allah doesn't command
[19:37]us and doesn't teach us a set of Good Deeds for no
[19:40]reason one of the wisdoms behind this is that he knows we
[19:47]will be able we will have the stamina that we need to
[19:53]perform certain Good Deeds with ease certain Good Deeds are very easy
[19:58]and you can do them uh uh without uh enduring any difficulty
[20:02]like what like reading Quran how how difficult is thatuh muhamad how
[20:11]difficult is that yet theith say thisat that we just recited is
[20:15]the heaviest deed that one can place in in his Misan on
[20:19]the scale on the day of judgment um it comes with a
[20:29]bit of difficulty especially if for example you're working you have let's
[20:34]say uh School assignments Etc but but when you take the habit
[20:39]of praying it becomes difficult for you not to pray and imagine
[20:42]someone told you today you're not praying tell them no I want
[20:47]to pray you can't stop me from praying I want to do
[20:51]my Sal because you've reached a point where Kal it has become
[20:56]part of your system and that's good it's good to have a
[20:59]good habit taking the habit of praying every day is a wonderful
[21:03]habit not only a good habit makes sense for Allah teaches us
[21:08]a set of Good Deeds whether we're talking about or must and
[21:12]some of these Good Deeds are easy why did Allah make them
[21:14]easy because he wants you to excel he wants you to do
[21:20]these Good Deeds which will uh which will or might wash Away
[21:24]The Sins number one and will help you elevate such that the
[21:33]weaknesses you have now gradually Fade Away makees sense yeah can we
[21:48]conclude that a person who only focuses on the and does not
[21:55]do the would not be able to grow in his no he
[21:57]can he can grow he can grow yes someone who only does
[22:03]theat obviously can can grow and can Elevate definitely but someone who's
[22:08]doing the must has an advantage that he's he's doing more Good
[22:13]Deeds then again then again quality is more important than quantity s
[22:18]the more the Mir as they say if you want to do
[22:22]more Good Deeds that's beautiful but also focusing on the quality of
[22:26]the good deed is essential yeah we have ai by which basically
[22:35]says the following if you perform two at night but you're focused
[22:41]in your two that's better than staying up the whole night whilst
[22:46]you're not with your Salah you're not in the Salah make sense
[22:52]yeah the Quant uh quality is more important than than quantity yeah
[23:00]another example is uh mean someone who let's say fasts uh most
[23:08]of the days of the year but when he fasts every day
[23:12]he back bites someone else it's not technically fasting if you think
[23:16]about it on aenial level he is fasting but backbiting is really
[23:23]bad this is one of the main things you should avoid when
[23:25]you when you when you fast such that there's a tradition saying
[23:28]if you back you've you've you've broken your fast meaning you've broken
[23:32]the spiritual fast right then again you might have someone who does
[23:38]not fast that much he fast Ramadan only or sh Ramadan in
[23:40]a few days during the years Etc but when he fasts he
[23:51]doesn't sin no sins which fast is more important than the eyes
[23:54]of God pass of the second person then he's he's really fasting
[23:58]he's is not committing a sin when he's fasting the first one
[24:02]okay he's fasting but every time he fasts he's back bitting which
[24:10]is supposed to be nullifying his fast so quality is more important
[24:15]than quantity and here we remember the great strike of it's one
[24:25]strike it took him a few seconds so think about it for
[24:32]him to to strike how long did that take say five seconds
[24:36]say 10 seconds no problem what happens then the prophet said s
[24:42]strike of on the day of is better than the and the
[24:48]worships of the jins and the humans when you think about it
[24:59]have so much good deeds done by the good Jens and the
[25:03]good humans and these Good Deeds take long take long lived for
[25:13]2,500 years alone the strike of aliam which took a few seconds
[25:17]was better in the eyes of Allah subhana wa tala so quality
[25:24]comes first yeah all right uh I think we're out of time
[25:31]very sorry students for the short lesson but inshallah we'll compensate for
[25:41]the shortness next week will compensate you
