[2:09]mustafa mustafa al khaladi with allah i said brother mushtaq for this
[7:35]beautiful recitation now please help me welcome sayyid salih khuzwini with a
[7:39]loud salawat one of the primary qualities of god is the quality
[9:12]of justice allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is just and we believe that
[9:22]it is because of the justice of allah that allah subhanahu wa
[9:27]ta'ala does not hold us accountable more than what we can bear
[9:34]more than what we could tolerate allah subhanahu wa ta'ala does not
[9:42]expect from me something something that is above my capacity this is
[9:49]because of god's justice furthermore god's justice entails that there is going
[9:56]to be a day of judgment allah is just therefore there's going
[10:01]to be a day of judgment where allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will
[10:06]deal with everyone with equality and justice and because of the justice
[10:13]of god because there's going to be a day of judgment allah
[10:18]subhanahu wa ta'ala sent prophets and messengers to guide us and show
[10:23]us the way if god was not just then he would not
[10:27]have sent prophets and messengers but because allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is
[10:32]just he sends prophets and messengers to guide us and show us
[10:37]the way and furthermore these prophets and messengers because of god's justice
[10:46]they have to be infallible they have to be because if they
[10:52]were to teach us something wrong if they were to teach us
[10:56]something that is incorrect then that would go against the justice of
[11:04]allah god is not only just but god orders us to be
[11:11]just as well to treat people justly to establish justice on earth
[11:19]allah says in the quran allah orders allah commands for people to
[11:29]establish justice and goodness helping other people with ihsan everyone wishes to
[11:51]practice and establish justice everyone wishes for there to be justice in
[11:57]the land justice is a good thing everyone wants justice however typically
[12:05]we see that those who are in power those who are in
[12:09]positions of authority they do not like justice they despise justice and
[12:16]they try to get away with injustice this has this has been
[12:24]the way for thousands of years this is the way of humanity
[12:29]as soon as some people have some power as soon as some
[12:32]people have some wealth some authority they try to bypass justice and
[12:38]they go against justice allah says this in the quran as soon
[12:48]as someone becomes powerful then they try to bypass justice they try
[12:55]to go against justice this is one of the qualities of those
[13:00]who are in positions of power today you read some of the
[13:05]statistics that take place here in the united states you see that
[13:09]typically this is not a general rule but typically those who have
[13:15]power and have authority they have an easy way out of their
[13:19]mistakes and their errors either through paying money either through other ways
[13:25]where they can bypass they can bypass justice you look at the
[13:32]prisons you look at the jails you see that the majority of
[13:36]those who are in prisons the majority of them they come from
[13:39]lower class social classes the majority of those individuals are poor they
[13:45]suffer from poverty this is because typically those who have power those
[13:53]who have authority they escape justice this happens in many governments this
[14:00]happens everywhere except in the government of amir al mumineen ali ibn
[14:06]abi talib the government of amir al mumineen was a just government
[14:14]amir al mumineen was not changed by power power did not change
[14:19]the life of amir al mumineen it did not change the way
[14:23]he lived his position of power then they come and amir al
[14:42]mu'mineen power is given to him power is given to him once
[14:48]power is given to people typically you see people change change typically
[14:53]you see people are changed by power by money by wealth amir
[14:58]al mumineen ali ibn abi talib he was a leader who was
[15:01]not changed by this dunya he was a leader who was not
[15:05]changed by power and authority he would walk into the muslim treasury
[15:12]into the muslim treasury and he would see the bags of the
[15:17]gold and the silver right in front of him and he would
[15:20]begin to speak to the bags of the gold and silver and
[15:24]he would say oh gold and oh silver go and fool someone
[15:34]other than ali you cannot fool ali he would say oh dunya
[15:48]the slower life go and fool someone other than ali ibn abi
[15:52]talib i have divorced you three times and there is no going
[15:57]back there is no going back this is amir al mumineen a
[16:03]man who was not changed by power typically we see people who
[16:08]have power they become corrupt they start going against justice instead of
[16:14]establishing justice they turn against justice but you see amir al mumineen
[16:20]power did not change change him after one of the battles ibn
[16:29]abbas the cousin of amir al mumineen he goes and he sees
[16:35]amir al mumineen sitting in the tent and he has sandals his
[16:41]sandals in his hand he has his sandals in his hand and
[16:45]he's fixing his broken sandal strap ibn abbas he comes and he
[16:50]tells amir al mumineen oh amir al mumineen you just reached sitting
[17:04]here in your tent you're sitting trying to fix a sandal strap
[17:10]amir and al mumineen he tells him oh abdullah ibn abbas you
[17:16]see these sandals how much are they worth the man he tells
[17:22]amir al mumineen your sandals are not worth anything your sandals keep
[17:27]breaking and you keep fixing them this is by the way this
[17:30]is the man who was ruling what is equivalent to 50 countries
[17:34]today he was the leader of muslim empire what is equivalent to
[17:40]50 countries today his sandal strap breaks and he's sitting in the
[17:45]tent he's fixing it himself so ibn abbas tells him there's people
[17:49]outside you're here busy with your sandals amir al mumineen tells him
[17:54]how much are these worth he tells him your sandals are not
[17:57]worth anything then amir al mumineen tells him this khilafah and this
[18:04]leadership and this position of power for me it's worth less than
[18:09]this sandal except if i uphold justice and uphold the values of
[18:15]islam he says this dunya and this leadership for me it's less
[18:28]than a leaf that is in the mouth of a grasshopper what's
[18:33]the value of a leaf that's in the mouth of a grass
[18:36]hopper it's nothing amir al mumineen says your leadership is worth less
[18:42]than that except if i can uphold justice except if i can
[18:47]uphold the values of islam this is why you look at amir
[18:52]al mumineen you see amir al mumineen was not after power some
[18:56]people are surprised they come and they tell us how was amir
[19:00]al mumineen the legitimate caliph after the prophet when he did not
[19:03]go and pursue that he did not go and pursue leadership and
[19:08]he did not fight for his rights yes amir al mumineen the
[19:14]leadership was his right but amir al mu'mineen he lived by a
[19:19]rule that rarely do you see people following the majority of the
[19:24]people they live by this rule and the rule that the majority
[19:28]of the people live by it's that the ends justify the means
[19:34]meaning that you have a goal in mind you have a goal
[19:38]in mind and you're going to do whatever that whatever you can
[19:42]to reach your goal this is how most leaders live this is
[19:46]how many people live their lives they have a goal in mind
[19:50]they have a goal in life and they are willing to do
[19:53]whatever it takes to reach that goal some leaders they're willing to
[19:58]kill some of them are willing to oppress some are willing to
[20:02]cheat and steal and abuse people some will allow thousands and millions
[20:07]of people to be killed in order for them to reach their
[20:12]goal and they say the ends justify the means who cares how
[20:17]you reach your goal as long as you reach your goal amir
[20:22]and mumminin did not live like that even though the goal of
[20:25]amir and mumminin is the most holy of goals amir and mumminin
[20:29]his goal is to establish justice but amir and mumminin lived a
[20:34]life of principles a life of values because justice cannot be established
[20:41]on something that is shaking something that is not stable in order
[20:47]to reach the peaks of justice your foundations have to be strong
[20:52]this is amir al mumineen ali ibn abi talib you see people
[20:57]they're willing to break the laws they're willing to oppress in order
[21:01]to establish justice in order to rule in order to uphold some
[21:06]values amir al mumineen was not willing to do so this is
[21:10]why some people they came and they called amir al mumineen a
[21:14]failed leader they came and they said ali ibn abi talib is
[21:17]not a good political leader yes he's good when it comes to
[21:21]salah he's good when it comes to knowledge he's good when it
[21:24]comes to the quran but when it comes to political leadership ali
[21:28]ibn abi talib is not very good some people they came and
[21:31]they said what kind of a leadership does this man have where
[21:35]he ruled for five years those five years they were plagued with
[21:39]three civil wars all of the leaders before him and after him
[21:44]they were growing the muslim empire the muslim empire was growing with
[21:50]those that came before him and after him the umayyads the family
[21:55]that killed imam al hussain and the family of rasulullah they took
[22:00]islam they spread the religion of islam all the way to spain
[22:04]today spain is not a muslim country but there was a time
[22:08]that spain was a muslim country they took islam all the way
[22:12]over there and ali ibn abi talib is busy with civil wars
[22:17]yes because amir al mumineen for him it's not about quantity of
[22:22]muslims for amir al mumineen it's not about expanding and conquest and
[22:28]expansion of the muslim land during leadership of amir al mumineen the
[22:33]muslim land did not grow an inch in fact amir al mumineen
[22:37]lost some land because muawiyah he was in damascus he was in
[22:41]sham and he refused to accept the leadership of amir al mumineen
[22:45]but amir al mumineen lived by principles amir al mumineen led by
[22:51]values and principles and this is why amir al mumineen is alive
[22:56]in our hearts today this is why we continue to remember amir
[23:00]al mumineen ali ibn abi talib because he upheld justice he upheld
[23:07]the values of islam typically leaders tyrants kings dictators when they rule
[23:17]they oppress the people that they're ruling you know what how it
[23:20]was with amir al mumineen it was the opposite amir al mu'mineen
[23:25]he was the one who was oppressed by the people he was
[23:28]ruling and leading he was the man appointed by allah appointed by
[23:35]rasulullah appointed by the quran and yet he was the one who
[23:39]was being oppressed he was the one who was being harassed and
[23:44]abused by his own people but that did not stop ali ibn
[23:49]abi talib from establishing justice that did not stop al mumineen from
[23:54]upholding the values of justice and ever since amir al mumineen the
[24:00]world has not seen a just leader like him and the world
[24:05]will not see a just leader like ali ibn abi talib until
[24:09]his great grandson reappears imam al hajj al mahdi al muntavar this
[24:19]is amir al mumineen ali ibn abi talib who made sure that
[24:25]in order to uphold justice and the values of justice he has
[24:30]to implement it on himself first he has to implement it with
[24:34]himself look at the food he used to eat look at the
[24:39]life he used to live he says and know that your imam
[24:54]and know that your imam suffices with his food with two pieces
[25:00]of bread two pieces of bread every day and he has two
[25:04]outfits amir al mumineen has an outfit in the summer and an
[25:08]outfit for the winter this is this great just leader ali ibn
[25:14]abi talib at the same time that amir al mumineen was living
[25:19]mawiya was in damascus and mawiya was known to be building a
[25:24]palace and he would bring out on the meals when it's time
[25:30]to eat he would bring out so much food so much food
[25:34]that the whole muslim world was talking about the foods that he
[25:37]brings out so one day a man he goes to kufa and
[25:44]he wants to visit amir al mumineen ali ibn abi talib he
[25:47]comes to the masjid it's people are fasting he comes to the
[25:51]masjid he tells amir al mumineen tonight i want to break my
[25:55]fast with you amir al mumineen tells him the muslims are breaking
[26:00]their fast in the masjid why don't you break your fast with
[26:03]everyone else in the masjid he tells him no no i want
[26:06]to break my fast with you the man thinks that amir al
[26:09]mumineen is going to have a better dish he's going to have
[26:12]better food so he insists that he wants to eat with ali
[26:15]ibn abi talib amir al mumin tells him yes you wanna join
[26:19]me come and join me he takes him to his house he
[26:24]tells him sit down the man sits amir al muminin he takes
[26:28]out a bag that has a lock on it he opens the
[26:33]lock he takes out a piece of bread and he gives it
[26:37]to that man and he takes a piece of bread and he
[26:40]sits and he's ready to eat the man he comes he tries
[26:43]to eat from that piece of bread he sees it's so dry
[26:47]it's so hard so he breaks it with his knees and then
[26:52]he begins to eat and then he tells amir al mumineen oh
[26:56]amir al mumineen why are you hiding this in a bag that
[27:01]has a lock on it typically if you had a very good
[27:06]dish if you had if you had something something very good you
[27:10]would hide that and make sure that no one reaches it however
[27:16]why are you hiding this piece of bread it's a dry piece
[27:18]of bread why are you hiding it in there amir al mumineen
[27:22]tells him i hid it and i placed it in the lock
[27:26]so that my sons don't go and place some oil or some
[27:31]honey on that piece of bread to make it softer this is
[27:35]amir al mumineen a man who wants to live the life of
[27:39]the lowest person in his society under his leadership he does not
[27:45]want to live better than anyone else that is living under his
[27:50]leadership this is ali ibn abi talib this is amir al mu'mineen
[27:57]he established justice even with his own family even with the closest
[28:02]people to him he says he says by allah i would rather
[28:27]be tied up my hands and legs tied up and dragged in
[28:32]the desert in the middle of the night throughout the whole night
[28:36]be dragged in the desert and have all of the thorns of
[28:40]the desert go into my body penetrate my body oppress one person
[28:49]and i take away the rights of one person i would rather
[28:52]have that happen to me than oppressing one person and then he
[28:58]talks this is he talks about his brother aqeel amir al mumineen
[29:04]had an older brother by the name of aqeel aqeel he became
[29:09]blind at the end of his life and once amir al mumineen
[29:12]has the official power leadership aqeel he came to amir al mumineen
[29:18]and he tell him he tells him oh amir al mumineen give
[29:22]me some extra money give me some extra wealth some extra gold
[29:26]amir al mumineen tells him i can give you the same amount
[29:30]that i give everyone else i can't treat you differently aqeel keeps
[29:35]insisting and insisting and insisting amir al mumminin tells him oh akhil
[29:41]you want you want more money why don't you go and break
[29:45]the boxes they were standing above the market and the people they
[29:48]had a box where they would store their money in he tells
[29:51]him go and break that box and go and take whatever you
[29:55]want from it aqeel tells him oh amir al mumineen you're ordering
[29:59]me to steal amir al mumineen tells him no you're ordering me
[30:03]to steal you're telling me to steal from money that belongs to
[30:06]people this is not my money aqeel kept insisting and insisting until
[30:13]one day amir al mumineen he says aqeel kept insisting and he
[30:18]was blind so one day he came to me and i took
[30:22]a piece of metal an iron rod i placed placed it in
[30:26]the fire i burned it i made sure that it becomes very
[30:30]hot and then i come and i place it next to the
[30:34]body of aqeel aqeel his senses could feel the heat of course
[30:40]amir al mumineen did not burn him he did not touch him
[30:42]but he could feel the heat so he begins to cry he
[30:46]begins to shout what are you doing o ali you're trying to
[30:49]burn me amir al mumineen tells him no you're trying to burn
[30:54]me you're trying to burn me in the fire of hell you're
[30:59]trying to burn me in the fire that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[31:03]has prepared for the oppressors and you cannot tolerate a fire that
[31:08]humans have made in this life and you want to drag me
[31:11]to the fire that allah talks about on the day of judgment
[31:17]he says he says i see aqeel is poor but aqeel cannot
[31:35]be treated like everyone else aqeel cannot be treated better than anyone
[31:39]else even though he's the brother of amir al mumineen he says
[31:49]he thought i was going to sell my religion my values for
[31:53]him so i put a piece of a piece of metal on
[32:04]fire he says he yelled and then amir al mumineen tells him
[32:18]tells him this is amir al mumineen one day his daughter amir
[32:38]al mumineen has one of his younger daughters she goes he enters
[32:43]into the house and he sees that his daughter is wearing a
[32:47]necklace so he asked her where's this necklace from where did you
[32:52]get this necklace necklace from she tells him oh my dear father
[32:57]the day of eid is coming up i went and i borrowed
[33:01]this necklace from abu raffa abu raffa was the man who had
[33:05]the keys to the treasure to the treasury the muslim treasury at
[33:09]that time she says went and i borrowed i didn't take it
[33:13]i just borrowed this necklace just for the day of eid and
[33:17]then i'm going to put it back amir al mu'mineen he tells
[33:21]her go and put it back do you want me to be
[33:29]prolonged in my stance in front of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala when
[33:34]i'm standing in front of allah azzawajal imran al mumineen implemented justice
[33:41]with himself and with everyone around him with people around him no
[33:47]one had seen a leader that leads in this just way in
[33:52]this form as soon as the caliphate came to him as soon
[33:57]as the official caliphate came to him amir al mumineen was distributing
[34:01]the wealth the muslim leader would distribute money and wealth to all
[34:06]the muslims and they would stand in line and then they would
[34:11]take their stipend they would take whatever they have and then they
[34:15]would go back a lady she comes to amir al mumineen an
[34:19]arab lady she comes to him she tells him oh amir al
[34:22]mumineen i think there was a mistake he tells her what happened
[34:25]she tells him you gave me the same amount that you gave
[34:29]the non arab lady you gave me the same amount that you
[34:34]gave the non arab lady why was she shocked she was shocked
[34:39]because the caliphs that came before amir and mumineen would differentiate between
[34:43]the arabs and the non arabs amir al mumineen he looks at
[34:47]her he tells her no i did not make a mistake i
[34:50]read the whole quran i didn't see anywhere in the quran where
[34:54]it says that an arab is better than a non arab i
[34:57]didn't see anywhere in the quran where it says one group is
[35:00]better than another group go you received exactly what you deserve this
[35:07]is the leadership of amir al mumineen this is the justice of
[35:10]ali ibn abi talib of course some people did not like the
[35:14]justice of amir al mumineen some people could not tolerate and stand
[35:19]the justice of ali ibn abi talib as soon as the khalafa
[35:23]came to him two of the companions of rasulallah they came to
[35:28]him they want to talk to him one by the name of
[35:31]talha and the other by the name of zubair these were known
[35:36]sahaba companions of rasulullah they come to him and they tell him
[35:42]o amir al mu'mineen we wanna talk to you he's standing in
[35:47]bayt al maal in the muslim treasury and he has a candle
[35:52]that is lit in front of him they tell him we wanna
[35:57]talk to you he tells them what do you wanna talk about
[36:00]is it a private matter or is it a public matter they
[36:03]tell him no it's a private matter as soon as they tell
[36:06]him it's a private matter he blows out the candle because the
[36:10]candle belongs to all muslims the candle that is burning it belongs
[36:15]to all muslims it does not belong for a private matter belongs
[36:20]for the public so they realize ali ibn abi talib was not
[36:25]like the ones who came before him they realize that amir al
[36:28]mumineen is different so they tell him we travel we want to
[36:36]go and perform umrah he tells them no instead you want to
[36:42]betray and this is exactly what happened some people they could not
[36:47]tolerate the justice of ali ibn abi talib so they left him
[36:51]they left him and a series of wars and battles were waged
[36:55]against him one of the reasons the battles were waged against him
[36:58]because amir al mumineen would not give in he would not compromise
[37:02]justice he would not compromise dihaq some people they came and they
[37:07]told ali ibn abi talib you know what why don't you just
[37:10]give maawiya leadership why don't you just go and come and give
[37:13]this person here and there but amir al mumineen was not willing
[37:17]to compromise justice for the sake of one criminal for the sake
[37:22]of one tyrant to be ruling and leading why did amir al
[37:29]mumineen do this why was amir al mumineen leading in such a
[37:33]way no one could come and bribe amir al mumineen no one
[37:37]could come and buy anything from amir al mumineen one day a
[37:43]man he comes amir al mumineen talks about this in najj al
[37:46]balaga a man comes and knocks on the door he opens the
[37:52]door and this man he brings a tray of sweets for ali
[37:56]ibn abi talib he brings a tray of sweets so amir al
[38:01]mumineen he tells him what is this is this sadaqa is this
[38:05]zakat is this something that's supposed to go to the poor because
[38:09]we the al baith we cannot take anything that goes to the
[38:13]poor it's haram for the al baith to take sadaqah it's haram
[38:17]for the al baith to take zakat the man tells him no
[38:21]this is a hadiya this is a gift this is a gift
[38:25]mumineen he says he says i tell him he tells me this
[38:30]is a gift i tell him why didn't you give me a
[38:34]gift when i did not have power when i didn't have authority
[38:37]you never came and gave a gift now that i have power
[38:40]you come and you want to give a gift take your gift
[38:43]and go take your gift and go and then he says he
[39:02]says you come and you wanna give me a tray of sweets
[39:05]if you were to give me the seven skies the seven heavens
[39:11]for me to take away a piece of grain from an ant
[39:16]unjustly i would not do that now you come and you wanna
[39:20]give me a tray of sweets if you give me the whole
[39:24]seven skies and the universe for me to take away a piece
[39:29]of grain from an ant i would not do that this was
[39:35]talib why why was amir al mumineen living in that way how
[39:41]did amir al mumineen establish justice in that way because amir al
[39:46]mumineen was the most knowledgeable because amir al mumineen was the most
[39:51]learned of the companions of rasulullah he was the most learned after
[39:57]rasulullah and when you have knowledge then you're not going to oppress
[40:03]you're not going to do injustice today would any sane person any
[40:09]normal person would they come and they take a bottle of poison
[40:13]and drink it would any sane person do that no why because
[40:19]everyone knows that the poison is going to harm you the poison
[40:23]is going to kill you we all know that however we fall
[40:29]into sins because we don't see consequences we don't realize we don't
[40:33]know the consequences the immediate consequence of sins we say that the
[40:39]imams the prophets are infallible how are they infallible is it that
[40:43]god is forcing them to be infallible god forces them to not
[40:47]sin no it's that they have the knowledge and therefore they see
[40:51]the consequences of their actions we don't see the consequences of haram
[40:56]we don't see the consequences of backbiting we don't see the consequences
[41:00]of sin therefore we fall into the sin if we were to
[41:03]see the consequence if we had the knowledge then we're not going
[41:07]to fall into the sins allah says in the quran if you
[41:19]had the knowledge of yaqeen if you had the knowledge of certainty
[41:23]you would be able to see the hellfire in front of you
[41:26]you would be able to see paradise in front of you we
[41:32]don't see it and therefore we don't see the consequences our knowledge
[41:37]is limited we don't see the consequences of our actions therefore we
[41:41]fall into sin amir al mu'mineen was the most knowledgeable amir al
[41:46]mu'mineen was the most knowledgeable after what rasulullah says about him i
[41:59]am the city of knowledge and ali is the gate to that
[42:04]city i am the city of wisdom and ali is the gate
[42:12]to that city he tells the muslims the most knowledgeable most learned
[42:17]of you is the most pious is ali ibn abi talib the
[42:22]most just of you is ali ibn abi talib it was because
[42:28]of his knowledge amir al mumineen established justice amir al mumineen ruled
[42:35]justly and he implemented justice on himself and on everyone else amir
[42:43]al mumineen his justice his intellectual genius is also something to look
[42:49]at something to focus on he would stand and he would say
[42:55]ask me before you lose me by allah i know the pathways
[43:09]into the heavens better than the pathways on earth he would tell
[43:14]them ask me ask me anything and the muslims they would come
[43:19]and they would ask amir al mumineen and he would rule justly
[43:23]he would sit in masjid al kufa and he would establish justice
[43:27]he would establish justice sometimes some they would use the justice and
[43:36]the piety of amir al mumineen against him one day a non
[43:40]muslim man he goes and he steals the armor of ali ibn
[43:44]abi talib amir al mumineen he leaves it the man he goes
[43:48]and he takes the armor of amir al mumineen so amir al
[43:52]mumineen tells him this is mine he tells him no it's in
[43:55]my hand therefore it's mine i have ownership i'm holding it right
[43:59]now therefore it's mine right now so they go to the judge
[44:04]of course amir al muminin he's the head of the government but
[44:07]he can't be the judge in this case they go to a
[44:10]different judge and the judge tells amir al muminin you're making a
[44:15]claim that this is yours because it's in his hand if some
[44:18]if someone has ownership if someone's holding on to something whoever's saying
[44:24]anything otherwise they're supposed to bring a proof amir al muminin did
[44:28]not have a proof that the armor belonged to him and the
[44:31]other man he was holding on to the armor the judge he
[44:36]asks amir al muminin bring a proof that this is yours has
[44:39]no proof the judge rules in favor of the other non muslim
[44:43]man he takes the armor but then the other man he realizes
[44:47]that this is ali ibn abi talib this is the leader of
[44:51]the muslim ummah at this time with a snap of a finger
[44:55]he could take away everything from that man but he chose not
[44:59]to so he comes to him he tells him muhammadan rasoolallah i
[45:10]bear witness that you are a just leader i bear witness that
[45:15]you are the rightful leader amir al mumineen he had the knowledge
[45:20]and his knowledge led him to implement and establish justice sometimes some
[45:27]they would come and they would ask him some very difficult questions
[45:32]very difficult matters that they could not solve one day a group
[45:37]of three brothers they come to amir al mumineen and they tell
[45:42]him we have 17 camels we have 17 camels one of us
[45:49]has half of them the other has one third and the other
[45:54]has one ninth so one of them has half one has one
[45:59]third and the other has one ninth and we don't want to
[46:02]kill any of the camels how are we supposed to solve this
[46:06]how are we supposed to deal with this amir al mu'mineen tells
[46:09]them i will solve it for you they tell him how where
[46:12]ever we went no one was able to solve this for us
[46:16]he tells them i have a camel i'm going to give you
[46:19]one of my camels now how many do you have they have
[46:24]18 now he tells him he tells them the one that has
[46:28]half takes nine and the one that has one third takes six
[46:34]and the one that has one ninth takes two you take nine
[46:40]plus six that's 15 plus two that's 17 he takes back his
[46:46]camel he takes back the camel that he had given them and
[46:50]he solves their issue for them he solves their dilemma for them
[46:53]and he takes back the camel that he had this is the
[46:57]intellectual genius of amir al mu'mineen and there are many examples of
[47:01]this many examples of the way he would establish justice and he
[47:06]would rule the narration says that he would rule and judge the
[47:10]way prophet dawud would judge meaning that he would see the reality
[47:16]right in front of him and he would be able to establish
[47:20]justice but of course amir al mumineen ali ibn abi talib he
[47:27]was the most just he was the most pious he was the
[47:31]bravest but one thing would break the heart of amir al mumineen
[47:37]one thing would shatter amir al mumineen what was that that was
[47:42]when he sees someone being oppressed when he sees someone being neglected
[47:48]and oppressed amir al mumineen could not tolerate it this man who
[47:53]was so brave this man who was so strong he can't see
[47:57]anyone being oppressed one day a lady she comes from yemen she
[48:03]comes all the way from yemen she comes to amir al mumineen
[48:07]she sees imam ali who was praying in the masjid he realizes
[48:11]that there's someone waiting for him someone wants to speak to him
[48:15]so he finishes his prayer quickly and he rushes to her he
[48:19]rushes to her he tells her what's your issue is there anything
[48:22]that you need now if it was anyone else they would have
[48:25]said you know what let me finish my prayer let me take
[48:28]my time who cares about this poor lady she came i don't
[48:32]know this lady no he rushes to her he goes to her
[48:36]he tells her what's the what's your issue she tells him the
[48:40]governor that you have appointed for us is oppressing us the governor
[48:44]that you have appointed for us is not dealing with us with
[48:47]equality he's not dealing with us justly he takes a piece of
[48:51]paper and he writes on the paper he writes something and then
[48:56]he gives it to her he tells her i want you to
[48:58]go and give the governor this piece of letter once you go
[49:02]back to him what did the letter say in it the letter
[49:06]says o fulan his name once you receive this letter then know
[49:11]that your role as governor has finished one lady she goes and
[49:17]she complains to amir al mumineen of an oppressive governor amir al
[49:22]mumineen he listens to her he listens to the oppressed he takes
[49:27]her and he lets her give the letter of the man order
[49:31]telling the man to resign from his position this is amir al
[49:35]mumineen of course amir al mumineen could not tolerate seeing orphans as
[49:43]a result of the battles and wars that were waged against him
[49:47]there were many orphans in kufa at that time he would begin
[49:51]to cry as soon as he sees orphans after the battle of
[49:57]saffin in that battle one of the closest friends to emir al
[50:01]mu'mineen and one of the first muslims and one of the best
[50:05]muslims was killed in that battle in the battle of sufin and
[50:09]that was amar ibn yasser and told amar oh amar you're going
[50:20]to be killed by the group that rebels and turns against islam
[50:27]in the battle ammar was killed in the battle of saffin by
[50:32]the army of muawiyah amir al mu'mineen after the battle finished he
[50:37]goes back to kufa and the first thing he does is that
[50:43]he goes to the home of ammar before going anywhere else he
[50:47]goes to the home of ammar and he sees his little orphans
[50:52]he sees his little children they're crying they had lost their father
[50:56]he sees them and this brave warrior this brave commander and hero
[51:02]of islam he collapses when he sees the orphans crying in front
[51:06]of him he begins to cry and he says he says nothing
[51:30]breaks my heart as much as when i see an orphan crying
[51:36]an orphan that has lost his or her father or mother this
[51:40]breaks my heart one of the closest companions to amir al mumineen
[51:47]and he was the man who would help and aid amir al
[51:50]mumineen in his life by the name of qambar this man qambar
[51:55]he relates to us some of the stories of the life of
[51:59]ali ibn abi talib amir al mumineen he says one day i
[52:03]was walking with amir al mumineen in the market and he saw
[52:08]a lady who was carrying a jug of water she was carrying
[52:13]a very heavy jug of water on her shoulders so the lady
[52:18]doesn't know who amir al mumminin is he comes and he tells
[52:21]her let me take this from you let me take this from
[52:24]you he comes and he takes that from her and he tells
[52:28]her where's your home she walks and she leads him to her
[52:32]home he goes and he places the jug the heavy jug inside
[52:38]the home she opens the door and he sees children crying he
[52:44]sees little children they're crying he tells her why are they crying
[52:49]she tells them she tells amir al mumineen these children are hungry
[52:54]these children don't have food he tells them why where's their father
[52:59]she tells him their father was killed in one of the battles
[53:03]fighting with ali ibn abi their father was killed in one of
[53:09]the battles fighting with ali ibn abi talib so amir al muminin
[53:13]he leaves gambar says he went to the market and he began
[53:17]to buy certain items he began to buy some meat he bought
[53:22]some some things to cook and then a while later he goes
[53:27]and he knocks on the door of that lady she opens the
[53:30]door she says who are you he says ana abdullah i am
[53:34]the servant of allah that was with you just a few moments
[53:37]ago she tells him what you want he tells her i have
[53:41]brought some food for these orphans she says you have brought food
[53:45]for my children may allah judge between me hungry and the strangers
[53:53]are helping my children ali he enters she tells him he tells
[54:00]her do you want me to cook the food or do you
[54:04]want me what do you want me to do i have brought
[54:06]the food for you she tells tells him him i will cook
[54:09]the food but you start the fire we have not started the
[54:13]fire in our home for many days now we're hungry we haven't
[54:16]cooked it's been a while we haven't cooked so amir al mumineen
[54:22]he goes and he starts the fire he starts the fire and
[54:27]once the fire is lit he would bring his body close to
[54:31]the fire and he would say to himself oh ali taste the
[54:42]heat of the fire because this is what happens to the ones
[54:46]who forget the orphans and the widows the lady of course doesn't
[54:51]know that this is amir al mumineen and qambar is related relaying
[54:55]the story to us he says once the fire was lit the
[54:59]lady she came and she started cooking and ali he goes to
[55:05]play with these children he goes and he begins to play with
[55:09]these orphans he gets on his knees and the children they come
[55:14]and they ride on the shoulders on the back of amir al
[55:16]mumineen this is the man who is ruling what is equivalent to
[55:21]50 countries today he goes and he cries and he plays with
[55:24]these orphans and then once the food was ready amir al mumineen
[55:31]he tells the lady let me feed these children let me place
[55:35]the bites of the food in their mouth so she comes and
[55:38]she gives him the tray he goes and he takes the food
[55:42]and each bite he gives places it in their mouth and he
[55:46]tells them say allah oh allah forgive ali ibn abi talib a
[55:55]lady comes and she tells her a lady a stranger another lady
[56:00]she comes she tells her what are you doing you've made the
[56:03]amir al mumineen you've made the leader be a servant in our
[56:06]in your house the lady realizes that this is amir al mumineen
[56:11]this is ali ibn abi talib who's serving her in her house
[56:16]this is how emir al mumineen was this is how the imams
[56:20]of the ahlul bayt were but emir al mumineen was known to
[56:24]be the father of the orphans the orphans that had lost their
[56:29]fathers they would not feel the pain because they would see and
[56:33]witness the love of ali ibn abi talib however on a night
[56:41]like this the orphans have no one to check up on them
[56:45]the orphans have no one to go and feed them because their
[56:49]imam the leader who used to feed them and provide for them
[56:54]is sick the leader who used to provide for them is injured
[56:58]in his home this night amir al mumineen he leads his prayer
[57:03]he prays while he's laying down he cannot stand in his prayer
[57:10]after he was attacked they come and they place him in his
[57:14]home he tells them take me to my home take me to
[57:18]my mehrab and they lay him in his place where he used
[57:22]to pray the doctor comes and checks up on amir al mumineen
[57:27]he checks on the on the injury that amir al mumineen sustained
[57:33]he looks at his head and he sees that the poison has
[57:37]seeped through the body of ali ibn abi talib because amir al
[57:41]mumineen was not only struck by the sword he was struck by
[57:45]a sword that was filled with poison and the poison began to
[57:49]seep through the body of amir al mumineen so the doctor he
[57:54]tells amir al mumineen o commander of the faithful say you're wasiyah
[57:59]say you're well because you're not going to survive this blow you're
[58:03]not going to survive this injury which you sustained he tells them
[58:08]the only thing which may soothe him which may take away some
[58:12]of the pain which may help him relax is some milk bring
[58:17]him some milk so they come and they bring a bowl of
[58:21]milk to amir al mu'mineen they bring him the bowl of milk
[58:26]he looks at the bowl he tells them take this milk to
[58:31]your prisoner referring to abdul rahman ibn muldjem take him give him
[58:36]some of the milk let him drink the milk what where do
[58:41]you find a leader like this where do you find a just
[58:44]leader like this the people in the city the orphans and the
[58:51]families they heard that amir al mumineen is dying ali ibn abi
[58:55]talib is losing his life and they heard that the only thing
[58:59]which may help him is some milk so the narrators they narrate
[59:04]they say that that day there was there were many orphans outside
[59:08]the door of ali ibn abi talib and they have bowls of
[59:12]milk in their hand they want to give their father ali ibn
[59:16]abi talib some milk they want to give him something which may
[59:21]help him ease his pain amir al mumineen was surrounded by his
[59:26]family he was surrounded by imam al hassan imam al hussain sayyid
[59:33]azainab and his children he began to say his he began to
[59:39]say his will he would tell them every single one of them
[59:44]what will happen to you he tells his son imam al hassan
[59:49]he tells him oh my dear son hassan you are looking at
[59:53]me right now and you are crying however there is going to
[59:58]come a day where you will be poisoned and you will die
[60:02]from the poison and then he looks at imam al hussain he
[60:09]tells him oh abba abdullah i see you crying for me however
[60:16]there's going to come a day in karabbalah where you will be
[60:22]all alone and the enemies are going to attack you from all
[60:27]sides he took he looks at sayyidah zaynab he tells her oh
[60:34]my dear daughter zainab be patient because the trials and the difficulties
[60:40]that you will see are going to be much more difficult than
[60:44]what you will see today yes that was the day zainab stood
[60:52]over the body of imam al hussain this time she was with
[60:57]her father amir al mutmeneen she has her brothers she has her
[61:01]siblings she has the whole family around her but there was a
[61:06]day when zainab she stood over the body of imam al hussain
[61:11]she stood all alone and surrounded by all of the enemies she
[61:19]stood over the body of imam al hussain she began to call
[61:24]out one of the daughters of imam al hussain she began to
[61:55]run after imam al hussain was killed one of the narrators hamid
[62:00]ibn muslim he says i chased after her i held her i
[62:05]came to her i brought her some water i saw that she
[62:08]wasn't drinking she tells me oh man oh sheikh tell me which
[62:13]way is ghari ghari is najaf she tells her what do you
[62:17]want with ghari ghari is far he says she tells me she
[62:21]tells me there's a man who is known to be a man
[62:25]that used to care for the orphans that is my grandfather ali
[62:29]i want to tell him that i have also become an orphan
[62:34]today i have lost my father abba abdullah al hussay for this
[65:45]beautiful lecture and soothing majlis and now we're gonna move on to
[65:49]the bonfire and please if we have any volunteers for us to
[65:53]help out with the chairs that'll be great and we'll see you
[65:55]guys later
