[0:04]and welcome to this final bit of the building that we are
[0:11]wanting to complete but because of shortness of funds we aren't able
[0:16]to complete this part of the building now this top bit of
[0:18]the building is also going to be a studio a rooftop studio
[0:22]but as you can see it doesn't have any supporting lines for
[0:27]us to be able to put windows or glass here we don't
[0:31]have any flooring we don't have much on this floor and this
[0:36]floor needs to be completed insha'allah before muharram so that we can
[0:40]bring you live content from bain al-haraman as sharifain as well as
[0:44]our other studios now my dear brothers and sisters we are in
[0:47]need of your donations we are in need of your help we
[0:51]are in need of you laying a brick in your name in
[0:55]this building this is not my building this is not the cameraman's
[0:59]building this is not anyone's building it's your building you guys are
[1:03]the ones that continue to support imam hussain tv day by day
[1:10]week by week month after month year after year and inshaallah decades
[1:15]after decade you will continue to support this organization who has the
[1:20]biggest capacity to reach the most people around the world and insha'allah
[1:25]through your generous donations through you laying a brick in your name
[1:29]we can finish off this project and bring you imam and hussain
[1:36]live from the holy city of karbala um hey i am allah
[2:51]was buried today prince philip was buried today and you find therefore
[2:59]i decided that today i want to look at royal families and
[3:03]monarchy in the quran because we know very well that the quran
[3:08]has many examples of kings even queens and how their life developed
[3:14]in relation to either the prophets lived amongst them or indeed we
[3:22]witness in the quran that some prophets actually became kings many would
[3:25]not imagine that a prophet of god would become a king normally
[3:28]when you think of a prophet of god you think for example
[3:32]of the terms such as nebi or a term such as rasul
[3:35]you think prophet you think messenger but you'd never think of the
[3:41]prophet being the head of a mamlike in the muslim world today
[3:45]we have a number of kingdoms in my own research if i
[3:50]remember rightly you'd find maybe 10 kingdoms in the world today or
[3:54]majority muslim countries there are 10 royal families that one can look
[3:59]at for example in bahrain you have a royal family united arab
[4:03]emirates you have a number of royal families in the hijaz you
[4:08]have royal family you look somewhere for example even like brunei you
[4:13]have a royal family and so therefore we cannot just say that
[4:19]in this country there is for example a queen or in other
[4:23]countries in the world there are kings even in muslim countries you'll
[4:27]see for example king fulan prince folan amir fulan and this is
[4:34]not something unusual in our history because in the 1400 year history
[4:39]of the religion of islam as we know it and in the
[4:44]history of humanity generally we found that kings and queens have been
[4:50]part and parcel of societies establishing themselves in authority positions even certain
[4:56]scholars in islamic history would write books of history where would be
[5:02]written for example tariq the history of the prophets but also that
[5:08]there are that there are kings as well so i'll give you
[5:11]the history of the prophets and i'll give you the history of
[5:15]the kings and so when we look in islamic history we find
[5:19]that there are a number of empires where you had kings who
[5:24]are ruling even there are traditions that sought to show us how
[5:28]at the beginning we have caliphate and then it moves to mulc
[5:33]so when a person for example studies certain sections of the early
[5:39]period of islamic history you have the first leaders who are known
[5:42]as and then after those leaders pass away we are welcome to
[5:48]the world of muluk king so and so king so and so
[5:52]of course they may have different titles a person might be called
[5:55]an amir a person might be known as a sultan a person
[5:57]might be known as a malik but generally we find that virtually
[6:03]every dynasty in islamic history was that dynasty of monarchs was a
[6:09]dynasty of royal families these royal families can either be people who
[6:19]establish justice social stability social welfare welfare because that's what you look
[6:23]at at the end of the day when it comes to a
[6:26]royal family you're looking for a family who are not oppressive who
[6:28]are not tyrannical who seek to establish justice on the earth and
[6:33]most importantly recognize that there's always a king above them as kings
[6:41]always recognize that they're going to be accountable to the main king
[6:46]always recognize that these people who we see as our subjects ultimately
[6:53]we are subjects to the mainshah to the main malek and therefore
[7:01]when we look within the holy quran and we look at our
[7:06]societies today there is a mirror reflection what's the reflection in our
[7:10]societies today can you see certain non-muslim kings who were not tyrannical
[7:16]to their people yes i could see in our world that we
[7:21]live in today that there are certain kings who are not muslim
[7:24]but they were just they're not muslim but they don't interfere in
[7:30]your life they're not muslim but they don't block your opportunities they're
[7:34]not muslim but they don't stop people from having a dream and
[7:39]fulfilling that dream so sometimes you may find a king in our
[7:44]world who's not a muslim but a just human being who's not
[7:50]a muslim but wants peace for their citizens sometimes you may find
[7:55]a king in our world who's a muslim but a oppressor i
[7:57]may find somebody in my world who's a muslim who we even
[8:02]see images of them praying but they're the most oppressive the most
[8:06]tyrannical the most authoritarian the most dictator-like and even the type who
[8:16]will seek to bring disunity amongst their people now we don't want
[8:20]to pinpoint anyone because of course it's relative you may look at
[8:24]somebody and see that he's the greatest thing since sly spread and
[8:26]i might look at somebody and say he's tyrannical but one thing
[8:30]we do know that in the society within which we live there
[8:33]are monarchs who may not necessarily preach islam but may act with
[8:42]some of the principles of islam and there are monarchs who are
[8:46]muslim but are far away from the teachings of the religion of
[8:52]islam in the quran allah welcomes us to a whole host of
[8:59]monarchs and a whole host of royal families i believe that most
[9:01]people when they think of royal families and monarchs in the quran
[9:04]the first thing you think is what is said in surah 27
[9:09]34 of the quran because normally our impression of royal families or
[9:15]our impression of monarchs is negative normally i don't think there's many
[9:20]people who look at royal families and say wow these are the
[9:22]most amazing people in the world normally the impression might be i
[9:26]can never relate to them normally the impression might be worse than
[9:28]that that these people have only instilled facade in society or that
[9:33]they are muslim and it's very interesting that when i'm looking in
[9:36]the quran i'm obviously going to look for the word malik because
[9:42]i'm trying to understand how royal families are discussed organically be they
[9:49]muslim or not muslim be they prophets or non-prophets so if you
[9:53]look at surah 27 34 of the holy quran my dear viewers
[9:57]at home who have been so patient throughout the series but today
[9:59]i'm going to make you go from one verse to another to
[10:01]another to another of the holy quran so that we really understand
[10:03]how royal families are portrayed in the quran you look at surah
[10:08]27 verse number 34 i think this verse is what most people
[10:10]have in their minds when it comes to your impression of royals
[10:25]what is said over here verily kings when they enter a town
[10:31]victorious ruin it and make the noble of its people the meanest
[10:37]i think that's generally the impression most people have that when you
[10:42]think of kings in the past you normally think that these people
[10:45]they enter a town they're gonna make sure that everything is hoarded
[10:48]for them they live in the best places you can't come anywhere
[10:52]near them you can't even say hello to them and if you
[10:53]do get a chance to say hello to them maybe for a
[10:55]couple of minutes only that's if one of their sons is not
[10:57]acting arrogantly towards you the first group of people the first group
[11:02]of kings we look at in the quran tend to be from
[11:06]that group so let's start off with the really bad ones before
[11:10]we move on to looking at some better examples because in the
[11:13]quran i'm sure all of us at home are able to name
[11:16]certain kings in the quran who are let's just put it this
[11:22]way quite arrogant with what they've accumulated because when you've got a
[11:23]palace that big and you've got servants that you don't even have
[11:27]to move you literally just flick your finger and you're like you
[11:29]know what bring me this bring me that bring me this bring
[11:32]me that you're not gonna necessarily be the most humble person in
[11:38]the world you cut your connection with god then you're definitely going
[11:42]to be one of the arrogant ones until you probably believe that
[11:46]you are god now the first story in the quran i find
[11:49]between two kings one may argue can be seen with ibrahim the
[11:55]quran does tell us that abraham is given a kingdom if you
[12:00]look for example that surah 4 of the quran let everyone go
[12:02]to surah 4 please at home surah 4 verse 54 if i'm
[12:09]not mistaken you'll find that allah talks about the fact that he's
[12:15]given abraham kingship normally if i talk of nabi ibrahim alaihissalam i
[12:19]only talk of ibrahim or rasool or imam or khalil do they
[12:35]envy the people for what allah has given them of his grace
[12:51]do they envy the people who we give out of our grace
[12:55]why are you giving hazard to someone who's done well allah the
[12:59]one who's given him that why why are you envying them do
[13:04]you have a problem with who allah shares his razak with if
[13:08]you have a problem with who allah shares with then you have
[13:11]a problem in your belief system but here allah points to a
[13:16]particular group who he has given grace but look at what he
[13:20]has given them okay we gave the family of abraham the book
[13:28]well hikmah wisdom of course because there are many who have elm
[13:33]but few who have hikma many have knowledge very few have wisdom
[13:39]and we gave them a great kingdom nami ibrahim is given a
[13:46]kingdom but alongside navi ibrahim there's the king of babylon the king
[13:50]of babylon or in some traditions we talk of nimrod nimrod royal
[13:57]monarch arrogant powerful but now he witnesses that he has a contender
[14:04]there are some kings when they look at other kings can get
[14:08]on with them there are some who turn around and say no
[14:10]i'm the king here i'm not just the king i'm virtually a
[14:13]god to my people if i want i burn people and in
[14:18]the quran you found that when he tries to burn ibrahim who
[14:22]he feels is a contender for royal in babylon of course allah
[14:29]tries to show all of them that at the end of the
[14:33]day i am the ultimate malik this fire becomes cool and it
[14:36]becomes tranquil for ibrahim now nimrod's got a problem i'm king of
[14:41]babylon this guy has been given kingdom i've tried to burn him
[14:46]it's not working so you know what let me go head to
[14:47]head with him and we see the head to head between these
[14:51]two kings this arrogant kingdom rude in surat al-baqarah 2 verse 258
[14:56]if the viewers go to sword or two of us 258 you
[15:00]see again the mentioning of the word king and there's a head
[15:05]to head between two kings over here what's the head-to-head bismillah and
[15:09]surah 2 verse number 258 have you seen the one who disputed
[15:21]with ibrahim about his lord because of what because god has given
[15:26]him kingdom notice so you got one king who may be referring
[15:39]to his own kingdom another king who's been given kingship by allah
[15:43]he says to him you know what i've tried to defeat this
[15:46]guy i can't defeat him and this is the very example of
[15:50]a king who wants to ruin the good work or those who
[15:52]are being blessed is my lord is the one who gives life
[16:01]who causes death and gives life i also cause death and i
[16:11]also give life hold on a minute how enter you're a king
[16:13]how have you got to a stage where you can give life
[16:17]and death he goes you see those two prisoners he's like yeah
[16:20]he goes they're both meant to die he goes okay so he
[16:22]goes uh i'm gonna release one of them you see so i
[16:26]gave life yeah and sometimes if you're deluded you could be a
[16:32]royal who lives in a world where you can't see anyone tell
[16:35]you no so you're used to giving arguments and when you give
[16:39]those arguments you're thinking who's going to question me nabi ibrahim is
[16:43]saying to him allah gives life and allah causes death and if
[16:48]allah wants to he can give life again this person's like yeah
[16:51]you see those two guys in jails like yeah okay i see
[16:52]those two guys in jail well those two are meant to be
[16:56]executed and i'm going to release one of them so i've given
[16:59]life nabi ibrahim shows something beautiful here that if you're debating somebody
[17:02]like this don't lose your temper don't lose your rag give him
[17:05]another argument what's the next argument he gives him allah causes the
[17:13]sun to come from the east so what should you do fatigue
[17:20]allah causes the sun to rise from the east if you are
[17:24]a king above the king who gave me kingdom then you caused
[17:28]the sun to rise from the west at that moment he was
[17:30]like you know what yeah you win so the first example we
[17:33]have of a king in the quran is a very arrogant tyrannical
[17:39]king and when you're looking for arrogant and tyrannical kings who's the
[17:44]king of arrogant tyrannical kings in the quran if i was to
[17:47]ask you guys which king reaches a level where he's like listen
[17:50]don't even call me a king anymore call me god witch king
[17:56]pharaoh in the quran we're welcome to another royal family and literally
[17:59]this is royalty because his wife although becoming at the end probably
[18:04]one of the most glorious woman in the history of islam she's
[18:07]a queen in every sense of the word she's the epitome of
[18:12]class she's the epitome as well of humility but what you have
[18:17]with him complete arrogance as a king most people they think king
[18:20]they think royal and they think arrogant someone who's up themselves someone
[18:27]who will never mix with commoners there is none like this none
[18:32]even shaytan used to get baffled by how arrogant pharaoh was now
[18:38]when shaytan gets baffled with you there's problems you know what i
[18:42]mean because normally shaytan just looks at you and he's just like
[18:44]well this guy's a fool but when shaytan gets baffled with you
[18:46]there's issues and i've narrated the story before you know you get
[18:51]these anecdotal stories in islamic history where someone's come to far on
[18:55]and he said to him you know that you call yourself god
[18:59]because in the quran he calls himself god in which surah surah
[19:02]nazi at surah 79 of the holy quran pharaoh calls himself god
[19:08]and i'm sure many of you have actually memorized this chapter of
[19:14]the holy quran because this is in jose and many of us
[19:16]when we were younger had memorized jose although i don't know how
[19:20]many of you still remember just until today but surah 79 verse
[19:23]number 24 so pharaoh calls himself and someone comes and goes you
[19:39]know pharaoh you know you say that you're the lord i want
[19:42]to remember this rabb says you know you call yourself the lord
[19:46]okay i've got a bunch of grapes can you make them into
[19:53]diamonds for and i was like what he's like uh can you
[19:56]make grapes into diamonds for i was like hahaha get back to
[20:00]me i'll get back to you later you know the classic ones
[20:02]when you can't do something i'll get back to you i'll get
[20:05]back to you he leaves when he leaves there's a knock on
[20:09]the door farah's like who is it who is it how could
[20:16]you ask who's behind the door it's a door you should know
[20:20]what's the seed and the unseen who is it all of a
[20:25]sudden you hear a reply he calls himself god he doesn't know
[20:28]who's behind the door he said how dare you who's that he
[20:31]said i'm ableist eblis enters satan enters he looks at pharaoh and
[20:35]he says to him pharaoh let me give you a piece of
[20:38]advice even i never called myself god i would address god by
[20:48]saying fabika by your majesty but i would never say that i
[20:55]am god you saying your god get off that so then farah
[20:58]looks at shaytan he goes to him so why did you not
[21:00]do such adam then if you still have that respect for god
[21:02]he said because i saw people like you in the lineage of
[21:05]adam i said it's not worth doing surgery now in the quran
[21:11]says even called himself surah 28 surat surah 28 38 of the
[21:22]quran go to surah 28 verse number 38 you'll see faraon would
[21:28]call himself he doesn't mess about what does he say he says
[21:44]oh pharaoh said oh chiefs you know what um i don't know
[21:49]any other god except me for you guys was he called himself
[21:54]number one rub was he called himself number two ella the third
[22:01]thing he calls himself is malik surah 43 verse number 51 of
[22:11]the quran you see pharaoh finally concludes i don't know any other
[22:19]for you guys and in surah 43 verse number 51 my man
[22:22]just goes on a different one he just goes and says you
[22:25]know what i'm the king actually don't call anyone else king except
[22:30]me what does he say pharaoh turn around oh my people it's
[22:41]not the kingdom of egypt mine i'd like to ask you guys
[22:46]a question and all the viewers at home what are the three
[22:48]things for aunt called him now called himself number one rabb which
[22:55]sword on the quran mentions all three of these which surah do
[23:00]we all recite we've all memorized it's so small it's so small
[23:05]it's such a small surah was replying to all three of his
[23:23]he called himself rabb he called himself malik he called himself who
[23:40]we see who gives the image of royalty as completely negative arrogant
[23:46]dictator no social stability unjust the very embodiment of the negative image
[23:52]of royalty so that's the second one third is that there is
[23:57]a king whose name is not mentioned i haven't found his name
[24:00]in a hadith but he's mentioned in the quran as a king
[24:04]who was oppressive to his people in which story so we mentioned
[24:10]nimrod we mentioned faraon and then in the story musa and hither
[24:13]you know when musa accompanies hither and they go and and it's
[24:17]like why are you coming with me he's like because i want
[24:20]to uh learn under you he's like sorry i have the patience
[24:23]to learn under me he said no no i promise i've got
[24:26]the patience he goes okay anything i'm gonna do then you're not
[24:28]gonna be able to question it he's like yeah definitely i won't
[24:31]question anything so what happens in surah till surah 18 of the
[24:37]quran um surah 18 where is it from about verse 70 onwards
[24:40]verse 71 onwards you all know the story my dear brother sisters
[24:44]in the quran you've got the mentioning of hither and musa they're
[24:49]going on this mystical journey and when they're on this mystical journey
[24:53]and musa um starts doing certain things okay um and in in
[25:03]verse 17 71 we begin to see what he starts doing they
[25:09]went on a boat and what does khadr do he makes a
[25:13]hole in the boat can you imagine walking with somebody and they
[25:15]just blatantly smash someone's car you'll be like bro what'd you just
[25:21]do you just smashed someone's car actually you've come with something which
[25:36]is strange heather just replies in one of the most coolest replies
[25:40]you'll ever see uh come with me uh young boy yep okay
[26:11]killed him moses is like you know what i was baffled with
[26:15]the first one i've just seen him kill a young boy did
[26:23]you just kill someone innocent uh you know there's a bit baffling
[26:29]for me it's quite horrible um simple replies did i tell you
[26:36]that you have the patience to bear what i'm gonna show you
[26:37]okay okay you know what i'm not gonna ask anything else again
[26:48]if i ask anything else again don't put me in your company
[26:56]and then what happens is they came to a wall this wall
[27:15]was there and what they did is that they came they set
[27:16]it up right they asked for anything in return moses is like
[27:20]can you please now explain to me what we just went through
[27:25]what just happened you just made a hole in a ball you
[27:29]just killed someone and we just repaired a wall this is one
[27:33]long day he begins to explain in verse 79 what the worst
[28:03]monarch the worst king is the one who blatantly goes and confiscates
[28:08]properties belonging to their citizens and i don't need you to put
[28:15]the title king dictator prime minister president is when you do of
[28:20]people's properties baba this is our house we used to live in
[28:25]this house before the baptist regime fell we used to live here
[28:30]we were forced to leave iraq someone's coming to my house mama
[28:34]give me the house back no the house belongs to the prime
[28:37]minister now the house belongs to the president now and i'm just
[28:39]giving this as an example by the way i'm not saying it
[28:41]in terms of accusing anyone but we've seen situations where your house
[28:46]is taken forcefully all of a sudden you leave iraq or you
[28:49]leave parts of the world and you're like what happened to my
[28:53]house it happened in iraq it happened in iran it happened in
[28:55]other parts of the world where people just suddenly left in uganda
[28:58]there were many people who left uganda they left kampala i was
[29:03]honored to visit kampala there were men who had to leave because
[29:05]of idi amin and their houses in many cases were gone they
[29:07]had to wait they had to find people who knew people and
[29:10]so on so forth so therefore here the quran points to the
[29:13]fact that the king what would he do he makes a hole
[29:18]in the boat a hole which is begin which is big enough
[29:20]for you to say allow the boat and small enough for him
[29:25]to repair you're not gonna right off the boat you're not gonna
[29:28]right off the boat what are you gonna make sure you do
[29:30]you do it to a particular level okay so therefore what do
[29:36]we see over here we see the quran has shown us some
[29:38]very bad kings faraon being the master example nimrod this one over
[29:44]here they don't care about social stability they don't care about justice
[29:46]for their people they don't differentiate between lover or hater and then
[29:49]all of you are the same i'm the king here all of
[29:53]you are my slaves then in the quran we're shown a king
[29:57]who's not a muslim but a good human being in the quran
[30:04]you can come across something which we've seen in life that you
[30:07]may find somebody who's not of the same sect as you islamically
[30:11]but he's good to you in the story of the malek we're
[30:17]introduced to the story from about surah 12 verse number 43 onwards
[30:22]if you go to surah 12 yusuf obviously surah 12 of the
[30:30]quran surah yusuf verse number 40 odd onwards you see that we're
[30:34]introduced to this king in verse 43 of sauron joseph what are
[30:38]we introduced to a king who is not unjust to the people
[30:42]if i live in a country where the king has not come
[30:46]to my house abused my family insulted me been rude to me
[30:50]i've been fortunate then to live in a country where the monarch
[30:54]has been somebody achieving a certain level of justice am i gonna
[30:57]say that this king didn't drink alcohol maybe they did but that's
[30:59]in the privacy that's their home that's their privacy am i going
[31:04]to say that this king for example may not have committed certain
[31:06]sinful acts maybe they did but did that king try and bring
[31:10]injustice in society or to try and bring a certain level of
[31:18]justice the king is baffled when he's seen a dream he's thinking
[31:30]to himself i've seen this dream and the dream is um seven
[31:33]fat cows being eaten by seven skinny ones and seven green years
[31:40]others are dry and then he asks my chiefs the chiefs of
[31:48]my court if you can i beg you guys explain to me
[31:51]what this dream means they replied and i'm going to be discussing
[31:54]in sha allah in one of the forthcoming episodes dreams in the
[31:59]quran and how they relate to our lives but what you find
[32:01]here is that they reply by saying they're not sure they're confusing
[32:06]doesn't make any sense then they remember what they remember there was
[32:16]one of them who was released that person had to remember that
[32:19]in prison was who was the abuse of alaihissalam he went back
[32:25]to the abuse of yusufu and sadiku makes clear the interpretation for
[32:44]each of these things because in his position as a prophet of
[32:48]allah part of his knowledge is that he's able to explain this
[32:50]verse 50 the king said bring him to me he said to
[33:07]him at that moment when they said to him the king said
[33:10]listen bring him to me he said first go and ask about
[33:11]those ladies who cut their hands go and ask about this story
[33:16]before you employ me before you want to put me in a
[33:22]position because i've explained i'm going to explain these dreams to you
[33:26]and so on because the king in verse 54 says bring him
[33:33]to me so i will use him in my service nebush of
[33:37]salam after he's done the investigation to find out was nabi yusuf
[33:41]running after or was running after them yosef only then in verse
[33:47]55.
[33:51]make me someone who is an authority over the treasury let's say
[33:55]your economic minister why because if i'm going to be in politics
[33:58]i don't want to stain on my reputation go and find out
[34:03]first that was i running after suleiman was lecturing after me that
[34:06]king ends up employing nebus of alaysalam nebu becomes economic minister for
[34:13]a king if that king is not muslim how can he be
[34:14]a minister for a king who's not muslim raises a whole major
[34:18]debate can i work in politics of a non-muslim leader while i'm
[34:23]a muslim prophet yusuf alayhi islam seemingly is doing good of course
[34:28]for us as muslims in the uk everyone else anyone who'll do
[34:32]that we'll call them a sellout look at this person he's a
[34:36]sellout this person is an agent this person is double faced and
[34:38]so on so why don't you say your prophet who worked for
[34:42]a king who was not a muslim no no no you don't
[34:44]understand me i don't understand either the quran is a book of
[34:45]guidance for me or we might as well just leave it on
[34:47]the shelf and bring it out for decoration so i show that
[34:51]i'm religious this king later on it's very clear if you even
[34:56]move on to other verses in in sort of you so if
[34:58]you go verse 72 just go a few verses later verse 72
[35:02]when they started asking what's happening to the cup of the king
[35:06]we've lost the remember when he wants to keep miniature in back
[35:16]we're missing the king's cup whoever brings it will have a camel
[35:21]load of corn i'm responsible for so yusuf are making all the
[35:25]decisions for this king because when you have a king who's a
[35:27]just human being even if they're not a muslim why not work
[35:31]with them to make a better society let's build a better society
[35:36]for the youth let's build a better society for women let's build
[35:39]a better society for people of race people of a particular color
[35:41]let's build a better society for people who are immigrants what are
[35:45]they doing over here yusuf is trying to find a welfare system
[35:48]where the money of the government is not spent in the wrong
[35:52]way eventually what happens we're now introduced to part three we're introduced
[35:56]to prophets who become kings in that same surah does yusuf work
[36:02]for the king tik does yusuf become king take never yourself how
[36:06]could you become a king you're meant to run away from dunya
[36:10]you shouldn't be sitting in palaces you should be sitting on thrones
[36:11]for allah you should be a zahid you should be an araf
[36:14]my brother relax you go to verse 102 of surah yusuf go
[36:20]to verse 102 and we see nabi yusuf alaihissalam becoming a king
[36:32]you found that this particular yusuf this narration was a narration which
[36:36]explained to us what came in the previous verse oh my lord
[36:44]you have given me of the dominion of the kingdom and taught
[36:49]me the interpretation of dreams nabi usually islam becomes the king you
[36:51]know someone comes to imam salaam one day he goes how come
[36:55]you dress so nice how come you dressed so nice they used
[37:00]to say the same thing to his father and someone once came
[37:04]to imam and said how comes you're coaching you're sitting on a
[37:07]couch that's so comfy because if you're a king or you're sitting
[37:10]amongst kings more often than not you're going to be sitting on
[37:13]nice couches do you agree you're going to be sitting in nice
[37:18]sofas do you agree you're going to be sitting like how you're
[37:20]sitting yes right now you're sitting laid back lovely comfy sofa you're
[37:25]you're just relaxed but the kings will sit in even better sofas
[37:28]they came to imam alaysalam how could you as an imam sit
[37:30]like this he said never you also have not sit on couches
[37:33]like this now does that mean because nebu became a king and
[37:40]he sat on comfy chairs that means he's a man of the
[37:43]dunya no i can live in this world but doesn't mean i
[37:47]let the world live in me why is it haram if allah
[37:50]has given him kingship so why would it be haram for a
[37:54]person to live in these places suddenly in the quran we're introduced
[37:58]to a group of prophets who either appoint kings or themselves are
[38:10]kings someone says a prophet appointing a king and surah let's go
[38:16]to a prophet who appoints a king the children of israel were
[38:21]an absolute headache nabi musa headache with them the ones who came
[38:27]before musa made your headache with them they had won some they
[38:31]had lost some if you go to surah 2 verse 246 of
[38:33]the quran you'll see that we're introduced to a time where the
[38:38]children of israel are in no man's land how many prophets came
[38:43]to them to guide them how many prophets came to lead them
[38:46]and after the musa they were actually in a strong position and
[38:50]they had amongst them the taboot you know sometimes if i go
[38:55]to the indoor pack subcontinent and i give them a chalice or
[38:57]sometimes in order to speaking centers they carry a taboot like a
[39:05]coffin yep a box the word taboot is mentioned in the quran
[39:09]in surat al-baqarah so when you're saying i'm bringing out bibi fatima's
[39:13]normally people bring these things out to remember what's happened with ah
[39:21]in its origin is huge until today i don't think people at
[39:25]home i don't know how many people at home understand that the
[39:28]taboos mentioned in surah al-baqarah has a huge huge political ramification when
[39:32]it comes to the situation in palestine and jerusalem in english we
[39:41]would call it what we'd call the taboot the ark of the
[39:47]covenant this tabot was given by the lord musa protected he said
[39:55]to them while you have this you'll never be at loss but
[39:58]the children of israel what did they do to the prophets who
[40:02]came what did they do to the message again they were lost
[40:03]and the philistines had defeated them when the philistines had defeated them
[40:08]the prophet at the time was prophet samuel they wanted if you
[40:18]see in verse 246 samuel said to them if it wasn't ordained
[40:53]for you none of you would fight they turned around and said
[41:02]what would stop us from fighting in the path of allah allah
[41:23]can sometimes appoint kings on earth if allah can appoint a king
[41:30]allah can't appoint an imam if in the quran allah appoints kings
[41:36]who are not prophets what's wrong with imam what's the issue with
[41:39]imams after rasulallah because i always say people say you shi i
[41:42]believe in imams and you believe in imam firstly the way you
[41:48]treat the caliphs after rasulallah that is virtually imam you cannot say
[41:53]a word against them even if they change something because of their
[41:57]heart you can't say anything i've got one of my shows coming
[42:02]up on the divorce three times about what rasulullah said about it
[42:05]what the quran said about it and what the second khalifa said
[42:08]about it he who appoints the malik when the malik is a
[42:15]guide for allah allah in english is known as saul yep you
[42:48]all know the story he's known as saul children of israel were
[42:52]like okay you've appointed king for us um who's richard galu how
[43:08]can he be a king over us when we have more rights
[43:11]and we we're wealthier than him when a person is appointed by
[43:21]allah don't bring me matters i'm older than him i'm a better
[43:24]politician than him i'm wealthier than him he's chosen by allah allah
[43:30]appoints who he wants it's not your appointing when they said that
[43:36]we're wealthier he said why didn't you say oh prophet samuel let
[43:40]there be an election choose why not elect why no democracy why
[43:45]not let the people choose allah has increased him in knowledge and
[43:54]has increased them in strength this is a beautiful line this summarizes
[43:58]everything allah gives it to who he pleases there are some kings
[44:11]on the earth i've appointed there's others they've appointed themselves there's others
[44:17]tribes of a boy there's others they've inherited the main point is
[44:21]what there are kings allah gives his kingdom to who he pleases
[44:31]appointed for who he was appointed as a king so you can
[44:36]have at the same time and samuel and you could have at
[44:41]the same time a king he then begins to tell them their
[44:46]prophet said to them in you know what the sign is that
[45:06]he's your king he shall have the ark of the covenant he'll
[45:09]bring the ark of the covenant which is in contains within it
[45:12]the relics of the previous prophets the taboot why do you think
[45:17]it's so important the ark of the covenant because it contains within
[45:19]it the ark of the relics of previous nbr swords shields armor
[45:25]everything is within the starboard and don't get me wrong it's not
[45:29]just a matter of picking up any sword you know the moment
[45:31]the man picks up that sword it's game over you know that
[45:34]ring has a different effect when you wear it you know what
[45:37]i mean there's a difference when rasulullah gives you and you go
[45:41]down to medina market and someone gives you a sword yes so
[45:43]here what you have is the taboot the ark of the covenant
[45:47]and so what begins to happen if you go to the next
[45:52]verse is gonna test all of you with a river whoever drinks
[46:01]from that river what's going to happen to them whoever drinks from
[46:06]that river is not going to be with me whoever comes across
[46:08]that river and doesn't drink is with me they're deadly thirsty they're
[46:15]proper thirsty 313 don't drink the rest drink when they go all
[46:21]the way across what happens we're introduced to the person who's going
[46:26]to be what who's going to be their next king because who
[46:30]is it that defeats goliath and who then maintains the ark of
[46:39]the covenant and that's why in the world today the whole debate
[46:43]about that area in the middle east the temple of solomon the
[46:48]ark of the covenant that whole area is all centered on king
[46:53]david and king solomon in the quran are they known as kings
[46:59]of course but you're a prophet how could you be a king
[47:02]why not if allah wants to give him the dominion of the
[47:06]earth in the quran go to surah 38 my dear brothers and
[47:07]sisters where we come to the main royal family in the quran
[47:11]when i say main royal family nebida and nebu sulayman malik dawud
[47:16]malik suleiman they are royalty with my due respect to every royal
[47:22]family in the world i've seen golden escalators i've seen royal palaces
[47:25]i've seen people with everything on this earth have you ever seen
[47:28]anyone who can just go hey jin i need you to make
[47:32]a building for me and eugene i need you to go diving
[47:33]for me and by the way the birds do you mind uh
[47:36]reading dua with me and make sure that the mountains can also
[47:38]join us i don't think anyone's got a kingdom like that do
[47:44]you agree nobody has a kingdom like that in surah 38 go
[47:47]from about i don't know from about verse number probably 20 onwards
[47:50]you'll see allah introduces us to the two main kings you want
[47:58]to know royalty and you want to know ibrahim's kingdom and al-ibrahim
[48:02]you go towards these kings and surah 38 of the holy quran
[48:06]you see allah subhanahu wa ta'ala introduces us to these kings these
[48:10]kings the first of them is darwood when you look at nebida
[48:14]we're introduced to him verse number 18 of surah 38 of the
[48:18]quran king david king solomon important for the jews important for the
[48:22]christians important for the muslims the jewish community have a major major
[48:25]connection with the temple of solomon with the ark of the covenant
[48:31]with king david king solomon likewise for us in the quran verse
[48:34]number 18 okay you know what you want to understand just how
[48:45]powerful this king is and the mountains join him when he's reading
[48:50]dua that's a pretty powerful king do you agree that windsor castle
[48:55]with all due respect it's a wonderful castle i don't think it
[48:58]should look a mountain say um you know the king wants to
[49:02]read dua can you join us if you don't mind to a
[49:04]mountain that's not going to happen is it david's on a different
[49:10]level verse 19.
[49:09]uh just in case the mountains singing or reading dua is not
[49:14]enough just in case by the way um that you guys are
[49:24]thinking the mountains voices aren't that good i'm sure mountains have nice
[49:29]voices just in case then the birds will also join us and
[49:31]i know that birds have got some lovely voices we always say
[49:34]someone's a lovely voice it's like a canary don't we the the
[49:37]birds now you imagine your kingdom and you're like i'm going to
[49:41]read so if you don't mind can all the birds come and
[49:45]join me in imagine how amazing that's going to be and just
[49:48]in case you're not sure the birds are obedient to him we
[49:53]made strong his kingdom and we bestowed upon him wisdom and we
[50:01]bestowed upon him what we bestowed upon him clear judgment nabi darwood
[50:07]king who inherits his kingdom sulaiman hold on can uh can people
[50:15]inherit or oh no why did you have a problem when hussein
[50:19]and herod's hassan and hassan inherited ali and then abedin inherited hassan
[50:23]hussein and why do you have following imam al-baqarah what's the issue
[50:43]what's the issue here we have prophets who inherit one another the
[50:46]quran clearly mentions you know in in this country the royal families
[50:53]the windsors or you mentioned the mountbattens or the spencers these are
[50:58]all big families the westminsters and islam al-ibrahim is the royal family
[51:04]not some random arab who used to worship idols or another one
[51:07]who used to kill his children or another one who used to
[51:11]slap ladies it's the line the light of ibrahim alaihissalam sulaiman inherits
[51:16]his father sulaiman inherits his father's kingdom but sulaiman's kingdom my lord
[51:22]almighty at the beginning even if you're just a king and you've
[51:26]got mountains and birds singing for you you're doing well do you
[51:28]agree sulaiman it's not just about him and his father having birds
[51:36]and mountains singing for them it's also the fact that they are
[51:41]humans who are just who judge with wisdom this is more important
[51:46]and that they are please understand this point the ones chosen by
[51:51]allah are a manifestation of allah's justice on earth this is the
[51:55]huge point the one king who's chosen by allah is a manifestation
[52:01]of allah's judgment on the earth with sulaiman this is the most
[52:21]important thing a king who recognizes they are the servant of the
[52:24]main king that is more important than any knowledge they have that
[52:30]they recognize themselves as just a servant of allah and a servant
[52:34]of the creation of allah that's why allah said before i mention
[52:38]how many great things sulaiman has firstly entered in salah what do
[52:45]we say allah often returning to allah his whole life is centered
[53:02]as a king no it's centered around the king of kings he's
[53:05]always returning to allah that's why the next verse which starts to
[53:09]discuss him with his soldiers and them on their horses it's a
[53:13]controversial verse in the quran probably this is probably one most controversial
[53:16]verse in quran because some traditions unfortunately came into islamic literature which
[53:22]started talking about the fact that you know what he loved his
[53:25]horses and then he got angry one day because he saw his
[53:27]horses made him miss salah so he went and stabbed all his
[53:33]horses up a man who the quran says is not a man
[53:36]who's going to go to allah's creation go stab them up rip
[53:38]them apart cut their feet and then say because of you guys
[53:41]you made me forget salah oh allah because in verse number 33
[53:48]it says so they say that he was telling allah get that
[53:50]son back to me because i missed my salah no rather he's
[53:55]watching the kingdom that he has he has these horses the horses
[53:58]are fine the horses make him remember allah even more but in
[54:02]juggling the military work that was being done and you know for
[54:08]prophets if they miss tasbih or they missed or they missed nawafil
[54:12]they feel that they have let down allah they feel that they've
[54:15]not given back to allah so therefore when it said that i
[54:23]some people try to translate that i love my horses it made
[54:25]me forget my lord no i'm here i've got a military parade
[54:29]in front of me i'm making sure that my army is ready
[54:30]but that this work has made also at the same time means
[54:34]that some of the things which i would normally do which for
[54:37]us we'd never do but stuff which he would make sure he
[54:40]does test me and make sure nawa fell in sunnah prayers and
[54:43]all these things that these things are now got in the way
[54:45]of the diversion but return those horses back towards me that's one
[54:50]of the interpretations so you found that in the quran allah shows
[54:56]us he's the king although in verse number 34 some people say
[54:59]what is this jessed on the throne of sulaiman which he saw
[55:02]somewhat have the opinion that this was just a vision that he
[55:06]saw he wanted a kingdom look in the next verse give me
[55:14]a kingdom that you won't grant to anyone after me of course
[55:18]he does want the kingdom or even the rulership and the leadership
[55:22]to continue in his line unfortunately it doesn't continue in his line
[55:25]um there is a period where the children of israel do continue
[55:29]but that authority doesn't necessarily continue however allah gives not the wind
[55:39]becomes your servant the hurricane becomes your servant imagine imagine your kingdom
[55:43]you could tell a hurricane hey uh stop angels who control the
[55:49]hurricane and then after that the satans the devils are your servants
[56:05]what do we have here we have the fact that the satans
[56:09]become builders for him and they dive in the sea looking for
[56:15]things for him what's his submarine they become his submarine and the
[56:25]jinn the shayat they start doing buildings for him and so you
[56:31]see his kingdom but in his kingdom and i'm gonna conclude with
[56:36]this that this country saw a duke pass away and buried today
[56:41]a prince passed away buried today but his wife the queen remains
[56:47]in his kingdom when we look in surah 27 we see that
[56:52]allah introduces us to a wonderful queen yes there are many kings
[56:56]in the quran but sometimes it takes one queen to be the
[57:01]meaning of everything and in surah 27 sulaiman the birds were his
[57:04]servants do we agree they used to read dua with him the
[57:08]jinn were his servants the wind was his servants everyone was his
[57:10]servant and he sent out the hood hood when the hood hood
[57:16]went out the hood hood went looking he wanted to see what's
[57:21]going on when suleiman where's the hood hood the hoopo bird hooppo
[57:25]bird comes back verse 23 i found a woman ruling over them
[57:37]sometimes you may find in some countries it's the king in some
[57:42]countries it's a queen at this moment we had a king called
[57:44]suleiman but we had a queen called shiba but you know what's
[57:50]beautiful about her number one she's a just queen with her people
[57:52]not arrogant her people all admire her look at verse 24 maybe
[57:59]the admiration went a bit too far yeah maybe they were prostrated
[58:08]to the sun instead of allah and he wants to send this
[58:21]letter to the lady in verse number 30 and he wants to
[58:28]make clear you're a queen i'm a king but the king of
[58:32]kings remains allah subhanahu wa that queen of sheba however much is
[58:35]a queen however wealthy she is the humility of sulaiman is what
[58:40]attracts her to the path of allah because ultimately in this world
[58:44]there's many kings there's many queens there's only one king of kings
[58:48]and that's why one ayah we will conclude with surah 3 verse
[58:52]number 26 that we may see many people and say at your
[58:57]majesty service your honorable majesty but remember that that majesty could go
[59:05]at any second because in the quran allah makes it clear to
[59:10]us that there's only one king what do we say you are
[59:26]the master you are the king of kings you give your kingdom
[59:29]to whoever you want what is your man thank you all so
[59:46]much hey the mitsuba food cart initiative is one like no other
[60:32]a new effective and efficient way to combat hunger underprivileged families register
[60:38]with the imam hussein relief and development foundation and receive a misspelled
[60:41]food card they act just like debit cards these cards will have
[60:44]twenty dollars or forty dollars on them for families to purchase household
[60:50]goods rather than queuing outside the charity or food bank waiting to
[60:53]receive goods misspell food card users can shop for groceries in participating
[60:58]stores and supermarkets throughout the month the benefits of the food card
[61:02]initiative are that it is an efficient way to deliver food aid
[61:04]it is a respectable and dignifying way to deliver food aid it

[61:12]hunger one card at a time and it prevents the misuse of
[61:17]money allocated for food you can help us by donating and debiting
[61:20]these cards your money will be directly credited to the mizpah food
[61:24]cart so that these families can use them donate ten dollars twenty
