[0:11][Music] Samah.
[0:28][Music] Peace be upon you, oh my master and messenger of Allah.
[0:44]Peace be upon you and for your pure noble and oppressed family.
[0:52]Peace be upon you, oh Aba Abdullah.
[0:58]Oh son of the messenger of Allah peace be upon you as
[1:03]many times as Allah has recorded in his infinite knowledge.
[1:05]Though my body was not present in carbala to answer your call
[1:13]my master though my tongue could not speak in your defense.
[1:16]Today my heart my hearing and my eyes have all responded to
[1:24]your call.
[1:23]Everyone Hussein Hussein with our hearts Hussein.
[1:47]Imm Hussein and his family they arrived to Kalah.
[1:52]Rise, oh messenger of God, and see this land of war.
[1:58]Carbella stands and soon our pain shall overflow.
[2:02]Upon the sands, fates, judgment has been cast.
[2:07]Dismount, O Hussein, for here you'll breathe your last.
[2:13]Rise, O messenger, and witness our despair.
[2:17]The shadow of death has filled the burning earth.
[2:22]It was in this land I told you I shall fall from
[2:29]out my steed when tribulations call.
[2:32]Here swords shall shred my flesh upon this plain.
[2:38]My body drenched and soaked in crimson stain.
[2:44]Oh grandfather, here Shimmer shall raise my head upon a spear.
[2:53]Its sight shall strike with dread.
[2:56]Here on Zab with heartless cruel delight, oh grandfather, reach her before
[3:04]that night.
[3:05]They will march with fire to our tents ablaze and cry shall
[3:13]pierce the dark in mournful haze.
[3:15]Upon her back the whips shall lash and land.
[3:21]Though she will weep, they will strike with ruthless hand.
[3:26]Oh grandfather, this is this cursed ground where time has brought our
[3:37]slaughter battle bound.
[3:38]Alone who freed himself.
[3:42]I stood with sword before the right, my armor heavy, heart in
[3:47]fright.
[3:47]I blocked the one the angels knew.
[3:50]Oh, what a sin I dared to do.
[3:52]He asked for shade, I gave him none.
[3:56]I turned away the prophet's son.
[4:01]And when the daughters wept in fear, I stood with silence, not
[4:05]a tear.
[4:06]I saw them flutch their father's side, and deep within I nearly
[4:12]died.
[4:13]Each cry from tense I helped surround would shake my soul without
[4:18]a sound.
[4:20]I rode with those who meant him harm yet never felt my
[4:24]conscious calm.
[4:26]I watched as swords were drowned to fight.
[4:30]I knew I stood against the light.
[4:33]I trembled when I saw the line of killers marching bold with
[4:40]the pride.
[4:39]Then deep within a voice did a cry, "Choose paradise or let
[4:50]truth die.
[4:47][Music] out of in the name of Allah the entirely merciful the
[5:05]especially merciful the one who's created and designed everything in the utmost
[5:11]perfection the one who created a beautiful image in Kbala for generations
[5:17]to be guided enlightened and and to benefit to be attracted to
[5:22]the light of Hussein who is the ark of salvation that inshallah
[5:28]he will help our hearts and souls and minds inshallah be steady
[5:31]firm still on the straight path.
[5:33]one of the main lessons in Kbalah and that lesson is the
[5:42]actual reformation that prophet Muhammad that Imam Hussein was trying to accomplish
[5:48]from his movement.
[5:47]So when Imam Hussein said I did not revolt for any evil
[5:54]tyranny or corruption or any worldly gains but I want to reform
[5:58]the nation of my grandfather the hol prophet Muhammad.
[6:03]I want to enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil.
[6:06]Now the reformation there's a reformation at the individual level there is
[6:11]reformation at the social level.
[6:12]Now at least before the arrival of ali's reappearance we have to
[6:20]reform ourselves at the individual level at least to please the heart
[6:25]of Im Hussein.
[6:26]If you want to be the individual that you're saying that Imam
[6:32]Hussein's blood did not go to waste, you have to make sure
[6:34]that now during these sacred nights of Ashw that you're reforming yourself.
[6:41]You're taking yourself to the next level and you're trying to become
[6:45]the better the best version of yourself.
[6:47]Now, Ali taught us a main lesson that you always in any
[6:54]choice in life, you're putting yourself between heaven and hell, whether you
[7:00]choose paradise with the righteous or hell with the cursed.
[7:04]And subhan Allah, it's very interesting that just the idea that a
[7:11]commander in Kbalah, he chose to switch sides.
[7:12]It tells you that this is a proof against the oppressors on
[7:22]judgment day that they had no excuse not to do so because
[7:25]Alain switched spoke to them.
[7:30]He tried to awaken what left from their consciousness and still they
[7:35]killed him.
[7:34]And we don't see like uh individuals from the camp of Hussein
[7:40]switching to the other side in the midst of the battle or
[7:42]the war for example.
[7:45]Yes, some of them left Hussein on the way.
[7:49]But after the war began, we don't see anyone running from Hussein's
[7:52]camp to Yazid's camp.
[7:53]But we see couple individuals they switched from Yazid Naz came to
[8:00]Im Hussein Alam and that shows that repentance is real.
[8:04]Now the most expensive thing that you hold is your heart because
[8:10]that's the thing that will remain with you.
[8:12]Now in the Quran when we use the word heart we're talking
[8:15]about your consciousness.
[8:15]At the end angel of death when he removes that soul he's
[8:20]removing your consciousness.
[8:21]So that's why the true house of Allah subhana w t'ala is
[8:27]not just the physical mosque is actually your heart.
[8:31]Now we all know that it's forbidden to cause any impurity to
[8:35]any house of Allahh at the jurisdial level.
[8:39]So now imagine if we're praying jum prayer and drop of blood
[8:43]for example dropped in the on the carpet in the mah or
[8:49]in the mosque we must stop the Friday prayer purify the mosque
[8:52]then we can resume the Friday Friday prayer it's a highest priority
[8:58]to purify the mosques of Allah subhana tala so the same thing
[9:01]as we have to keep the house of Allah pure Allah want
[9:06]the believers to maintain the purity of their hearts Allah said in
[9:12]a sacred narration hadith, "Neither my earth or my heaven can contain
[9:17]me.
[9:18]Allah is infinite, limitless, but the heart of my believing servant contains
[9:26]me." uh as long as you understand what infinity as a concept
[9:32]is that mean you are containing the infinite god in your heart
[9:37]also Allah revealed to prophet daw empty a house for me to
[9:45]dwell in prophet dood he knows that Allah is infinite unlimited so
[9:50]he told him oh lord you are too great to be in
[9:54]a house to be confined limited in in a specific place or
[9:57]time he said empty your heart for me that's what I when
[10:03]I requested a house for me to dwell in I requested your
[10:05]heart to dwell in now so the true house of Allah is
[10:12]not made of bricks it's the heart of the believer actually now
[10:15]when it comes to that I imam when he spoke about the
[10:20]philosophy of repentance is just cleaning that heart naturally ally when we
[10:29]breathe in this duny we cause hardheartedness there is a lot of
[10:37]physical spiritual um uh arrows I call them that strike your heart
[10:40]and cause darkness to it unfortunately so as a believer we must
[10:45]always purify this heart that's why we pray we pray five times
[10:52]a day uh when we come to malis of Im Husseinam it's
[10:54]like you're doing an annual cleanliness, annual purification.
[11:01]Uh, subhan Allah, in in in at the end of December when
[11:05]we do lectures, we try to remind the believers to do their
[11:10]new year resolutions.
[11:10]True.
[11:11]But the best way to do new year resolutions is when you're
[11:15]tearing and crying and weeping because weeping will wash the heart.
[11:20]Bring that softness back.
[11:23]Make that heart kind so you're able to open your mind and
[11:26]reflect and ponder on your existence.
[11:29]The philosophy of Kabala that we come in the beginning of the
[11:36]new Islamic year.
[11:36]We cry and we do these new year resolutions to do that
[11:43]annual repentance and reformation of the self.
[11:46]So now you're in the presence of Imam Hussein, the one who
[11:51]sacrificed all of himself.
[11:52]He gave fully himself to God to keep this religion alive.
[11:57]me and you we're coming this males to do this annual reformation
[12:01]and this annual new year resolutions.
[12:05]So that's why after the 10th of Muharam you have to feel
[12:11]that you're upgrading to the next level of your inner self and
[12:16]your understanding and your insight and your spirituality and connection with Allah
[12:21]subhana tala and so on and so forth.
[12:24]Imam Alisam gives the answer what is the philosophy of repentance?
[12:28]He said repentance purifies hearts and washes away sins.
[12:32]Now who is the repenter is you.
[12:37]Do you understand the value of you?
[12:41]You know what a human is?
[12:43]Unfortunately in in economy we became numbers right?
[12:48]But actually in spirituality and philosophy you're the greatest creation of Allah
[12:52]subhana tala.
[12:54]You're the most sacred creation of God.
[12:57]Imam said, "If your intellect overcomes your desires, you're higher than angels."
[13:03]Allah said in the Quran that Allah, so we have honored the
[13:12]children of Adam.
[13:12]Allah made you responsible being.
[13:16]Allah gave you a trust that all the creation couldn't bear, but
[13:19]you did.
[13:21]You as a human breathing and you were created, you opened your
[13:24]eyes, found yourself as a human being.
[13:26]Then you have to understand you're the repentter.
[13:30]Allah open these doors for you to bless you, to honor you,
[13:35]to purify you.
[13:36]So this is a servant who owns actually nothing.
[13:42]Repenting to Allah, the owner of everything.
[13:45]Injud in prayer we say oh the one who owns this life
[13:57]and the afterlife give mercy to the one who doesn't own either
[14:00]this life or the afterlife we own nothing actually in reality about
[14:06]owning things um I don't know if I think this is a
[14:11]true story where there is a man who married a loyal woman
[14:15]and he was wealthy and he told her in my funeral I
[14:17]because you're a loyal wife I need you to bury all my
[14:22]money with me.
[14:21]She told him of course my husband I will definitely do that.
[14:27]So after he died they did all the funeral service he wasn't
[14:31]a Muslim.
[14:33]So when they put him in the grave a lady came between
[14:39]the crowd and holding she put her hand in her pocket.
[14:41]She took a check and she threw it in the grave and
[14:46]she told him if you're able to check this out then do
[14:48]it.
[14:49]So actually we don't own anything.
[14:52]She was honest.
[14:54]She actually buried his money with him but he's unable to in
[14:59]a way get that money from the bank.
[15:01]So in reality we own nothing.
[15:02]So that's why we have no other any other choice except to
[15:05]repent logically.
[15:06]But I will explain what repentance practically is.
[15:10]Now many individuals they came to the prophet and the and when
[15:16]we say prophets and they are spiritual doctors.
[15:19]So they will give you solutions for all your problems.
[15:24]Never the prophet or the alb will judge anyone.
[15:25]They are not judgmental.
[15:28]They will give you solutions.
[15:29]They will ease your life.
[15:30]They will not add stress to you.
[15:31]And I will tell you two stories.
[15:33]Someone came to the prophet and someone came to Imam Hussein.
[15:37]And look how the prophet and I im Hassan dealt with these
[15:39]sinners when they told them about their sins and how prophet Muhammad
[15:47]Hassan gave them these practical solutions.
[15:50]So Allahh made repentance part of our religion because hope is key
[15:56]to keeping our hearts alive and connected to Allah.
[15:57]Islam will never shut the doors on someone who made a mistake.
[16:04]Instead it opens wide the doors of return through intercession repentance seeking
[16:11]forgiveness.
[16:11]Allah said in the Quran and please listen to these verses but
[16:17]open the in a way the um the ears of your hearts
[16:22]in that sense open the doors of your hearts to receive these
[16:26]verses from Allahhana inah verse 64.
[16:28]And if when they wronged themselves, they had come to you oh
[16:37]prophet and asked forgiveness of Allah and the messenger had asked forgiveness
[16:42]for them, they would have found Allah accepting of repentance, merciful.
[16:47]So always when you knock the door of Allah, you will found
[16:50]you will find Allah accepting of your repentance and merciful.
[16:53]Now you know part of God's mercy there's a narration from imaffam
[17:00]that will make you happy and pleased that just understand how God
[17:09]operate with his creation.
[17:09]Imag said that after a servant commit a sin, Allah will order
[17:14]these two angels that they record the deed to not write that
[17:20]sin for seven hours waiting for that servant if he will repent
[17:24]and seek forgiveness or not.
[17:26]And that's a gift from the Imam showing us that Allah still
[17:32]have hope that we will always upgrade and return and strive toward
[17:38]forgiveness.
[17:40]In dua we say every Thursday night these beautiful lines that it's
[17:45]a lesson and from Immiam.
[17:47]Oh Allah, forgive me the sins which tear apart protections, which bring
[17:56]down punishment, which change blessings, which stop my supplications from being answered,
[18:00]which bring hardships and every sin that I've committed.
[18:06]And by the way, some scholars said that actually dua will end
[18:10]in that line.
[18:14]That's when the dua ends.
[18:18]Then why Ali Alisam continued adding lines?
[18:22]They said it's some sort of death emotions and love with Allahh
[18:27]when you're trying to speak more so you can please him more.
[18:30]You know there's a speaks about the conversation between prophet MS and
[18:35]Allahh when he asked him what's in your right hand oh Moses
[18:41]so he must answer that it's just a staff a stick.
[18:45]Prophet Mus continue talking without Allah asking him.
[18:48]So it's a staff.
[18:52]It helps me with my uh sheeps and goats and I do
[18:54]this, I do that.
[18:57]Allah did not ask you to to tell him why what how
[19:01]you use it.
[19:01]He just asked you what is in your right hand.
[19:04]But subhan Allah when you love someone you love to keep talking
[19:10]to that person.
[19:09]So anytime they close a subject you open in who subject for
[19:13]communication that's what happened in the phase of engagement when they are
[19:18]communicating the first time after they move out responsibilities no communication anymore.
[19:25]Um so is forgiveness is repentance.
[19:31]Now it's interesting to understand from a philosophical perspective what is the
[19:39]difference between Toba and let me explain it in a practical way.
[19:43]You know when we age when we're 50 plus years old and
[19:51]after we gain all that experience many of us they regret a
[19:54]lot of choices that they've taken in their lives.
[19:58]True.
[19:59]So they wish that they can go back in time and fix
[20:01]uh their steps in life.
[20:06]That's why be careful young ones when you're taking especially major decisions
[20:11]in life.
[20:10]Pause, reflect, ponder and study all odds and see the pros and
[20:17]the cons and the benefit and the harm before you take these
[20:20]routes.
[20:21]Otherwise, you might regret it in the future.
[20:23]Like for example, imagine someone who's 40 years old listening to a
[20:28]lecture about realizing the essence and the greatness of this prayer and
[20:32]then at that at that moment he's wishing that I wish I
[20:36]knew about it when I was 15 so I can start praying
[20:38]it from that age.
[20:40]Many of us they have the thoughts and no one is fully
[20:43]pleased about their the route that they took in life.
[20:47]Some of us they might be satisfied to an extent but not
[20:53]fully because we always have this fear within is this the best
[20:57]route that Allah created for me or there is a better route
[21:00]that I was heedless and they didn't know about now my question
[21:06]is imagine you're 40 plus 50 plus years old and unfortunately you're
[21:09]going through dark routes in life but now you want to sincerely
[21:14]repent um what happened to all these years that you lived, you
[21:19]will always say that they went to waste, right?
[21:22]And I feel I wasted my life for nothing.
[21:25]There is a lot of verses in the Quran that serves as
[21:27]a gift and we will mention a lot of them that Allah
[21:31]removes all sins instantly.
[21:32]True.
[21:33]But there is a verse that I was reflecting upon when Allah
[21:36]said that there's some individuals that Allah will turn Allahhana will turn
[21:43]their will will switch will turn their good deeds their bad deeds
[21:53]to good deeds.
[21:53]Sometimes Allah will remove your bad deeds.
[21:56]True you return back to zero.
[21:59]Sometimes Allah will make that minus plus that's a higher level of
[22:06]forgiveness.
[22:07]So if you're 56 years old, you will feel that you did
[22:10]not waste what the time and I think that's what happened to
[22:15]you went from minus to plus not just in I cried Allah
[22:21]removed that sin but no Allah also considered him as one of
[22:29]the loyal servants of Imam Hussein.
[22:30]Now, Prophet Muhammad when he was asked when should we repent?
[22:35]Definitely I should repent as soon as possible.
[22:38]But when I say repent, I'm not accusing you that you're doing
[22:44]major sins because repentance is not just for those who committed major
[22:49]sins.
[22:50]And please youth connect with me.
[22:51]Anytime you hear forgiveness, repentance, you feel oh as if we are
[22:55]devils now and the sheh is trying to turn us to saints.
[22:57]First believers they look at each other from a positive perspective.
[23:02]We are positive individuals.
[23:03]I know nothing about you.
[23:05]You're all sinless for me.
[23:06]True.
[23:07]And even Islamically, you're alluding mean I can take your witnessing in
[23:18]any Islamic aur because I know nothing about you.
[23:20]I have no certainty about what you do in your private lives.
[23:25]I have certainty about what I do.
[23:28]Like Jesus once when he said, "Oh son of Adam, how you
[23:30]accuse others and backbite them and talk about them and you doubt
[23:36]about their lives but you're you doubt about their mistakes but you're
[23:40]certain about your own mistakes.
[23:42]So it's a priority for you to judge yourself than judging what?
[23:49]Others.
[23:48]But I'm looking at repentance from a different perspective because I believe
[23:53]every time you move forward in life, you're repenting.
[23:58]Give you a couple examples and you understand what I'm trying to
[24:05]say.
[24:02]Imagine now I I learned about and section in Islam in theology
[24:12]in beliefs.
[24:11]I'm learning about what predestination what predetermination is.
[24:16]And that increased my knowledge in Allah subhana wa ta'ala in the
[24:21]justice of Allah subhana tala.
[24:21]At that moment when I realized and understood this lesson I also
[24:27]realized that I did not know something and I knew it true.
[24:32]When I was heedless about something, when I was imperfect about something
[24:41]and then I gained something at that at that moment I realized
[24:44]that I was ignorant that require repentance.
[24:48]When I move from being weak to be strong, I must repent.
[24:55]When Allah removes oppression from me, I must repent.
[24:59]When I am hungry and I quench I satisfy my hunger, I
[25:05]must repent.
[25:04]When I am thirsty, I quench my thirst, I must repent.
[25:08]Inah the chapter of victory at the end of the Quran after
[25:15]victory comes and the opening and you see mankind entering the religion
[25:24]of God by groups.
[25:30]You have to seek also repentance after victory comes because you're oppressed
[25:36]and you're attacked and a force was weakening you.
[25:41]Now Allahh gave you victory.
[25:42]So you realized your inner weakness.
[25:46]After realizing that inner weakness, you must repent and seek forgiveness in
[25:53]that sense.
[25:52]Now Prophet Muhammad was asked when should we repent?
[25:56]Now as soon as possible.
[25:56]But he was speaking from a different perspective for those who feel
[26:00]that they are hopeless now or they disped from the mercy of
[26:06]Allah subhana tala.
[26:06]And by the way what is interesting in Islam that after the
[26:11]greatest sin in Islam is associating partners with Allahhik they always accuse
[26:16]Shia that they are mushik unfortunately.
[26:18]So the greatest sin in Islam is associating partners with Allahhana tala.
[26:24]The second greatest sin or one of the top five sins is
[26:27]despairing from the mercy of Allah.
[26:31]The moment you despair from the mercy of Allah, you feel hopeless.
[26:34]You think that Allah will never forgive you.
[26:37]This is the greatest sin also.
[26:39]This is a sin as well because Allah said my servants imagine
[26:43]look at the emotions between Allah and his creation.
[26:47]So he called you my servants.
[26:48]He didn't call you sinners.
[26:49]God forbid.
[26:51]And he didn't call us sinners.
[26:58]He said, "Oh my servants." Meaning you still belong to me.
[27:06]I'm still your nurturer.
[27:07]I'm still the allseeing, all hearing.
[27:10]I'm still the only force that wish the best for you.
[27:14]I created you so you can strive toward perfection not to humiliate
[27:18]yourselves with lowly lifestyles.
[27:20]So he said those they committed major of sins they caused harm
[27:27]to them and to their families and to their communities do not
[27:32]despair from the mercy of Allah.
[27:33]He speaking at the level of Pharaoh do not despair from the
[27:36]mercy of Allah.
[27:38]That's why prophet Muhammad said someone asked him when should we repent?
[27:43]Prophet Muhammad said um if Allah want to accept your repentance you
[27:47]must repent before a year of your death at least.
[27:51]Then Prophet Muhammad said a year is too long.
[27:54]He said who repented before one month of his departure Allah will
[27:57]accept his repentance and he will forgive him.
[28:00]And then he said one month is too much.
[28:03]Then he continued saying who repented before one week of his departing
[28:07]or departure.
[28:06]Allah will accept his repentance.
[28:09]Then he said one week is too much.
[28:13]He continued one day, one hour.
[28:15]Then he said who repent before he witnessed the angel of death,
[28:19]Allah will accept his repentance.
[28:21]That's the most merciful because when you actually say the word, you're
[28:28]acknowledging your sins.
[28:32]You're showing Allah that I regret the way I lived and I
[28:36]wish that you can bring me back to that age so I
[28:41]can fix that path.
[28:41]Tell you something why marriage and having kids it's half of perfection.
[28:49]One of the reasons you know me and you we can't go
[28:53]back in time and show Allah that if we lived that age
[28:55]back we will not do the same mistakes we did in that
[28:59]age.
[29:00]But if I was able to have a child and raise that
[29:03]child to not repeat the same mistakes that I did, then I
[29:08]proved to Allah subhana t if you bring me back to that
[29:10]age, I will never repeat these mistakes back.
[29:14]So that's a proof that I repented practically by not like giving
[29:24]in a way my children inheriting the bad habits that I had.
[29:29]Because the concern that Allah have when I develop bad habits is
[29:34]that I will never in a way um like target or attack
[29:42]or hurt others by teaching them these bad habits as well.
[29:50]Powerful verses from the Quran Karim calling us to repent.
[29:55]Allah said in surah hud verse 90, seek your Lord's forgiveness and
[29:58]turn to him in repentance.
[29:59]Indeed my lord is merciful and loving.
[30:04]So spiritually he will hug you when you come back to him.
[30:08]Repent to succeed.
[30:10]Allah said turn to Allah in repentance all of you oh believers
[30:13]so the so you may all of you succeed inshallah.
[30:17]Allah said will they not repent to Allah and seek his forgiveness?
[30:24]So Allah is calling us to repent and not wait.
[30:28]Now there's four special verses to dive deep in the Quran Kharim
[30:32]understanding the philosophy of repentance from this book.
[30:34]Allah first in verse one asking us to repent quickly.
[30:38]Repentance Allah said in surah verse 17 repentance is only for those
[30:45]who commit evil out of ignorance and then repent soon after.
[30:51]It is they whom Allah will return in mercy.
[30:56]Allah said, "And then repent soon after." By the way, what is
[30:59]the difference between me committing a sin and I'm ignorant versus committing
[31:02]a sin and I'm not?
[31:03]Immad in dua that we recite in the nights of power.
[31:08]He had a very beautiful line.
[31:09]He said, "Oh Allah, when I when I disobeyed you, I did
[31:16]not disobey you.
[31:16]When I disobeyed you, my intention wasn't to disobey you.
[31:25]I'm not continuing the dua.
[31:28]He said, I did not disobey you when I disobeyed you and
[31:31]I'm not questioning your lordship and I'm not in a way underestimating
[31:35]your judgment or your punishment and I still believe that you're my
[31:43]nurturer.
[31:42]But oh Allah, there is a desire that controlled me and I
[31:48]couldn't discipline myself and I fell into it.
[31:53]I was defeated by my own whim.
[31:58]So Allah, my problem is not with you.
[32:03]My problem is with my self.
[32:04]I don't believe that any believer who say there is no god
[32:09]but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger that they commit sins and
[32:14]their intention that they are disobeying Allah himself.
[32:18]Majority of us when we do sins the issue is I'm still
[32:23]trying to work on myself.
[32:27]I was weak.
[32:27]My desires overcome my intellect.
[32:28]I was heedless.
[32:31]Satan was able to deceive me.
[32:33]I fell into it.
[32:35]But it's not between me and Allah subhana wa t'ala.
[32:36]When you understand this concept, your relationship with Allah will fully be
[32:42]reformed and changed because he's the doctor.
[32:45]He's the healer.
[32:47]Allah want to help you.
[32:48]Allah Allah does not want to add burden on you.
[32:53]It's like when uh there's a guy came to one of the
[32:57]scholars and he told the scholar all his sins and he that
[33:03]he sincerely repented.
[33:03]Then the sheh went to the podium between prayers and he was
[33:06]speaking about repentance and he told him like one of your brothers
[33:12]here he's praying with us.
[33:13]He committed one two three four five of sins and then Allahh
[33:16]guided him to repent.
[33:19]Then the guy stood up.
[33:20]He said, "When I was committing sins, Allahh was hiding these sins.
[33:27]Now when I informed you about them, Allah exposed me." Allah always
[33:31]will try to hide these sins.
[33:33]We'll try to protect your privacy, will try to help you deal
[33:36]with it with yourselves at the individual level.
[33:39]That's why Imam Ali, for example, he said, "Never inform anyone about
[33:44]your sins and keep it between you and Allahhanaa." Second, don't keep
[33:51]doing wrong.
[33:52]Immad Alisam when this verse was revealed, those who when they sin
[33:56]or do wrong, remember Allah and ask forgiveness.
[33:59]And then Allah asked us a question in the Quran.
[34:00]And who forgives sins except Allah?
[34:02]Imam Saddak said when this verse was revealed to the prophet, Shayan
[34:05]panicked and said, "If I can just make people forget to ask
[34:13]for forgiveness after sinning, I win." Now Satan, he has two roles.
[34:17]He will deceive you to do a sin and he will make
[34:21]sure to forget to ask for forgiveness.
[34:23]Now his job is harder because even if you fell into sin,
[34:29]you're able to fix it by seeking forgiveness.
[34:33]Prophet Muhammad said this verse is a gift to me and my
[34:35]nation.
[34:36]No other prophet was given it.
[34:39]If I want to ask you who is the greatest interceded on
[34:43]judgment day who Allah blessed us with that he will be interceding
[34:48]for his nation on judgment day.
[35:01]Now the powerful effects of repentance andar one when you repent Allah
[35:10]will give you more blessings and goodness.
[35:12]Prophet Hood said oh my people seek forgiveness of your lord and
[35:17]then turn to him in repentance he will send rain upon you
[35:20]in showers and increase you in strength.
[35:22]Now this the word rain is not just actual rain.
[35:27]Rain means all different kinds of what?
[35:31]Of blessings.
[35:31]to protection from punishment.
[35:34]But prophet Muhammad also said, "Whoever find his blessings delayed, let him
[35:41]seek forgiveness from Allah." If you feel that marriage is delayed, sustenance
[35:45]is delayed, keep continuing seeking forgiveness from Allahh.
[35:50]The second effect of seeking forgiveness, protection from punishment.
[35:54]Imam said there were two safeguards from Allah's punishment in his time.
[36:02]What were the two safeguards?
[36:03]One was the prophet himself and the other wasar.
[36:08]And he said Allah lifted the first one which is the prophet
[36:15]himself after departure and Allah leftar on earth and he said a
[36:19]verse to explain his point.
[36:21]Allah would not punish them while you were among them and he
[36:27]would not punish them while they seek forgiveness.
[36:33]What three always forgiveness will repel negativity and evil.
[36:42]I will not call it just shaitan but if you feel you
[36:47]have evil thoughts evil feelings you're always pressured you're always negative repentance
[36:51]and connecting with the source of positivity and light which is Allah
[36:56]will help you repel all types of evil prophet Muhammad told his
[36:59]companions do you want something that pushes shaitan from you far away
[37:06]from you like east from west they said yes he replied fasting
[37:14]darkens his face.
[37:14]Charity breaks his back.
[37:15]Brotherhood in Allah cuts off his roots.
[37:18]That's why you have to have good company and good friends.
[37:21]And seeking forgiveness cuts his lifeline.
[37:25]Four, all sins are guaranteed that will be erased by Allahhana.
[37:32]Five, sins turn into good deeds.
[37:37]Sins will turn to what?
[37:38]Good deeds.
[37:40]As we explained earlier in surah for verse 70 Allah said except
[37:43]those who repent believe and do good deeds.
[37:46]You have to have those three.
[37:47]Repent will wash away the sins.
[37:49]But if you believed and do good deeds for them Allah will
[37:55]turn their bad deeds into good deeds.
[37:57]The minus will become plus.
[37:59]You didn't waste time.
[37:59]Six.
[38:00]A clean shining heart.
[38:04]And when you die, you will witness that you have a soul
[38:07]that is filled with light.
[38:08]The prophet said, "Harss get rusty like iron.
[38:11]Polish them with seeking forgiveness." Now, finally, a story between someone who
[38:19]came to Imam Hussein telling him that he committed major sins and
[38:25]what solution Im Hussein has for that individual.
[38:29]He told him, "Oh son of the messenger of Allah, I have
[38:34]gone too far in sinning.
[38:35]Please give me something that can save me or stop me from
[38:41]doing wrong." Im Hassan looked at him with wisdom and love and
[38:45]told him, "If you accept from me these five, you can actually
[38:50]do whatever you want and sins will not affect you." So he
[38:55]told him if you're able to solve these five go do any
[38:59]sin you want and nothing will affect you.
[39:03]The guy say that's it my exit has come.
[39:07]Told him if you want to disobey Allah don't eat from his
[39:14]sustenance.
[39:13]The guy told him how can I everything on earth is from
[39:18]his sustenance.
[39:19]Now why Hussein is telling is telling him don't eat anything from
[39:23]his sustenance because when we eat we gain energy and that energy
[39:26]we use it in sinning.
[39:29]So how you there gaining energy from Allah and using it to
[39:35]disobey Allahhana tala.
[39:35]Imam said so you eat his food and you disobey him.
[39:40]He told him okay give me the second one.
[39:43]It might be easier.
[39:45]He told him, "If you want to disobey him, then don't live
[39:49]on his land." He said, "Subhan Allah, that's even harder.
[39:53]Everything east, west, and in between belongs to him." He said, "Oh
[39:57]man, you eat from his sustenance and gain energy and you live
[40:03]in his land and disobey him." He said, "Okay, give me the
[40:06]third and may Allahh help us." He told them if you want
[40:14]to disobey him find a place where he can't see you.
[40:16]He said what?
[40:18]There is no place hidden from Allah.
[40:21]Imam said you eat his blessing, live on his land and sin
[40:27]in his side and still thinks it's okay.
[40:29]He told him give me the fourth.
[40:31]He said when the angel of death come for your soul, tell
[40:34]him wait until I repent.
[40:37]Now this is interesting because if someone able to repel the angel
[40:41]of death or delay him then we will find majority of the
[40:43]believers they will tell us oh angel of death will return after
[40:47]5 hours for example.
[40:47]So I pushed him he gave me those five hours to repent.
[40:52]True.
[40:52]Did we see any individual actually at the moment of death was
[40:56]able to delay that?
[40:59]The man shook his head.
[41:03]He won't listen.
[41:03]Imam told him then then force him to delay.
[41:06]The man admitted I have no power over him.
[41:09]Imam said then repent before it's too late.
[41:12]He told him at last there is still the fifth one.
[41:16]My solution might be there.
[41:17]He told him on the judge on the day of judgment when
[41:21]the angels of punishment will come to take you to hell.
[41:23]Don't go with them.
[41:26]The man broke down.
[41:26]He said enough.
[41:28]I seek Allah's forgiveness from now on.
[41:32]and he will never see me doing what he hates.
[41:35]In that understanding, we will feel as believers in the shade and
[41:41]the guidance and the light of Imam Hussein that we have no
[41:48]any other option or choice except to keep striving toward perfection, moving
[41:52]forward, becoming a better versions of yourselves.
[41:57]And that's repentance.
[41:58]When tomorrow is better than today, you're repenting.
[42:02]When after tomorrow is better than today and tomorrow you're still repenting.
[42:06]Allah said I love those who do are he didn't say I
[42:15]love the he said they always repent.
[42:18]Prophet Muhammad he used to seek forgiveness.
[42:21]He used to repent.
[42:24]When one of his wives, she asked him, "Oh prophet of God,
[42:27]God promised you that he erased all your past and future sins.
[42:33]Why you're continuously repenting?" He said, "Because I'm a grateful servant of
[42:36]Allah." When I see any myself, when I see someone addicted to
[42:42]drugs, I cry and I ask Allah for forgiveness.
[42:46]When I see someone addicted to wine, I cry and I say,
[42:49]"I thank you, Allah.
[42:52]I seek your forgiveness.
[42:51]Why?
[42:52]I repent because I tell Allah thank you for not testing me
[42:56]like you're testing him and you did not put me in his
[43:01]position or his situation or his circumstance.
[43:04]Remember we are not better than anyone but some people are suffering
[43:10]more than others.
[43:09]So when I see youth suffering in any community I don't feel
[43:14]that I'm better than anyone but I thank Allah and I repent.
[43:17]Why?
[43:18]because I was able to commit that sin and Allah protected me
[43:22]from it.
[43:23]It's not that I protected myself from it.
[43:27]That's why we have to always repent.
[43:29]Please stay with me as community to not normalize sins.
[43:34]We must all of us always repent.
[43:37]When I see someone on the streets drinking wine between me and
[43:41]myself, I must repent.
[43:43]When I see someone listening to haram music, I must repent.
[43:47]Because first I'm telling Allah, thank you for guiding me to not
[43:54]develop this bad habit.
[43:54]Thank you for protecting me from the effects of this sin.
[43:59]And oh Allah, please help us to not normalize that sin or
[44:03]cause the desensitization for the community where the newer generation might commit
[44:08]these sins easily.
[44:08]Now because when our children see their parents and uncles and and
[44:15]etc committing certain sin they will do it and they won't care
[44:17]because it's normalized.
[44:18]Even if parents they do god forbid some sins they must tell
[44:23]their children that this is haram and we are working on ourselves
[44:26]pray for us.
[44:28]Even if your parents you as a you're as a child even
[44:31]if your parents god forbid they disobey Allah ask Allah to forgive
[44:37]them.
[44:35]repentance not just if I'm committing major sins I must repent every
[44:43]breathing soul on the planet must continuously repent and that's the lesson
[44:48]that we learned from who stood in Kbala and questioning his mind
[44:56]and heart putting himself between paradise and hell al stood watching from
[45:04]the enemy's camp he saw how calm whom Hussein was.
[45:07]Even when surrounded, he heard the cries of thirsty children echo from
[45:11]the tent.
[45:12]And he realized that this was not a man seeking power, but
[45:17]a man defending truth.
[45:17]He looked toward the army of Omar, thousands strong, ready to spill
[45:22]innocent blood.
[45:23]He saw the swords drawn, the drums of war beating, and then
[45:27]something in him broke.
[45:30]His heart trembled.
[45:30]One of his own soldiers saw his shaking hands and pale face
[45:36]and told him, "Oh, you are the bravest man of Kufa, I
[45:39]have never seen you like this.
[45:41]What have overcome you?" Alhor replied with eyes full of tears.
[45:47]By God, I see myself standing between paradise and hell.
[45:50]And by God, I will not choose hell even if I'm cut
[45:54]into pieces and burned.
[45:55]He turned his horse.
[45:57]He lowered his spear.
[45:58]He flipped his shield upside down.
[46:00]A sign of surrender, he lowered his head in shame and humility
[46:07]and roared toward Hussein.
[46:07]Salam, the man he once blocked.
[46:10]As he approached, his voice trembled with repentance.
[46:14]Oh my lord, to you I return.
[46:17]Accept my repentance for I have terrified the hearts of your saints
[46:21]and the children of the daughter of your prophet.
[46:26]And then he called out to Imam Hussein.
[46:28]Oh son of the messenger of Allah, I am the one who
[46:30]stopped you.
[46:32]I now came to repent before God and to offer my soul
[46:35]for your cause.
[46:37]Will my repentance be accepted?
[46:39]Imam Hussein looked at him with love and said, "Yes, God accept
[46:44]your repentance.
[46:46]Dismount and join us." But her replied, "My master, since I was
[46:50]the first to confront you and hurt you, allow me to be
[46:56]the first to die for you." Then he turned toward the battlefield
[47:00]with his heart now free and his soul f full of certainty.
[47:07]Alur charged into the enemy's lines, his sword flashing, his cries echoing
[47:11]like thunder.
[47:11]He fought with unmatched bravery, cutting through soldiers like waves until his
[47:17]horse was struck and fell.
[47:18]He rose on foot and continued to fight.
[47:22]He killed many before being surrounded.
[47:24]The soldiers of Ians fell upon him from all sides, blow after
[47:29]blow, strike after strike until finally he collapsed to the ground, wounded
[47:38]and bleeding.
[47:38]The companions of Hussein carried Hur back to their tent.
[47:44]Imm Hussein himself came to him, knelt by his side and wiped
[47:48]the blood and dust from his face.
[47:50]Tears filled the eyes of Imam Hussein as he whispered, "You're the
[47:54]just as your mother named you.
[47:59]Free in this world and blessed in the next." Hor smiled through
[48:02]his pain.
[48:04]He had washed away his greatest sin with his own blood.
[48:07]He died with Hussein's hand on his face and his name ran
[48:12]among the martyrs of Kerbala.
[48:13]According to some narrations, Horwad the first martyr that day and unlike
[48:22]the others, his head was not severed.
[48:23]His tribe stood up against the order of Iban Sad and demanded
[48:28]that they be allowed to bury him with honor.
[48:32]They took his blessed body and burned him, buried him with love.
[48:38]Meanwhile, Lady Zab stood near the body of Aba Abdah Hussein.
[48:44]His headless body abandoned in the desert as it's as if she
[48:51]looked at the corpse, her heart torn and cried.
[48:56]Is there no Muslim left to bury the stranger?
[48:59]Is there no believer left to cover his broken body?
[49:03]Such was the tragedy of Kerbala.
[49:08]Were those who once stood against truth like horound redemption and were
[49:14]those who defended the truth whether left without burial without water without
[49:18]even a shroud.
[49:21]Say the zab turned to her grandfather in Kbalah and said, "Oh
[49:28]my grandfather, oh messenger of Allah, peace be upon you, oh prophet
[49:32]whom the heavens themselves praised.
[49:35]This is your Hussein, your beloved one.
[49:40]Left abandoned beneath the burning sun, exposed in the desert, stripped of
[49:46]his turban and cloak.
[49:47]His blessed head severed from the back of his neck.
[49:53]And the mourning breeze now carries the send of his blood to
[49:57]you.
[50:00][Music] Allah hing the reappearance of the Imam of our time.
[50:14]Help us repent, reform ourselves inshallah to be ready to serve this
[50:21]imam in filling earth with justice and iniquity after it was filled
[50:25]with injustice and tyranny.
[50:26]Oh Allah, forgive us, purify us, purify our hearts.
[50:30]Oh Allah, guide the new regeneration to the straight path.
[50:36]Oh Allah, for our deceased, for the pure souls of those who
[50:39]departed from the scholars and the martyrs and the innocent, please help
[50:45]us send to them the reward of chapter al fat after [Music]
