[0:01][Music] this ayah confirms the close relationship between the holy quran and
[1:18]the month of ramadan as both come in package whenever you mention
[1:24]the name of month of ramadan immediately comes to mind reciting of
[1:32]quran as of both our conjugates coming together the imam al-baqarah for
[1:47]everything there is a season there is supreme meaning flourishes blossoms blooms
[1:54]and the season of the holy quran is month of ramadan that's
[2:02]why you see the prophet peace be upon him at the advent
[2:05]of the month of ramadan when he recited his famous sermon he
[2:12]was admonishing muslims begging them to say [Music] with a clean heart
[2:33]and sincere intention so he will give you the ability to recite
[2:39]quran he was emphasizing so much on the recitation of the holy
[2:47]quran during this month as he used to say mankara ayat as
[3:04]if you have recited the entire quran during some other time not
[3:11]during month of ramadan why are they are so close the ayah
[3:17]explains quran was descended was revealed during the month of ramadan at
[3:29]what particular day or night the eye is very clear we recite
[3:37]surat inanzal na what does the annanzalna says the quran was descending
[3:45]coming down on the eve of destiny that's why they have such
[3:54]a strong relationship both are for guidance the almighty says the almighty
[4:05]says it's a guidance for people in many ayat when you receive
[4:12]when you recite the holy verses it says that the purpose of
[4:20]quran is guidance and month of quran the month of ramadan is
[4:24]for priority i'm sorry for purity and piety therefore when you conjugate
[4:31]both you see that they come in a very strong you know
[4:33]conjugate couple i'm not talking about chemistry those who knows what i'm
[4:37]talking about so coming back to the topic the almighty here says
[4:48]that quran was revealed was descended in the month of ramadan but
[4:53]we remember something we remember that we celebrate or commemorate the birth
[5:00]which is the time that the prophet peace be upon him reached
[5:07]the prophethood on the 27th of rajab what does that mean means
[5:12]that that time when he received the first verses of the holy
[5:18]quran when angel jibril revealed to the prophets the five verses if
[5:39]the if those verses were revealed during the month of rajab or
[5:46]on 27th of rajab at the time of prophethood then how come
[5:50]quran here the holy quran says that the quran was revealed during
[5:54]month of ramadan rajab is month 7 in the arabic calendar ramadan
[6:02]is month 9 in the arabic calendar how do you compromise between
[6:09]the two inshallah my talk will be about the descending of the
[6:12]holy quran during this month after your big and loud sadawat we
[6:15]will continue the scholars say that there are two kind of descending
[6:29]look at the wording look at the terminology one that the almighty
[6:36]says inzal and the other one says tenzil and both are different
[6:42]they are not the same in some verses the almighty uses the
[6:50]word enzal on the other hand in some words some other verses
[6:54]the almighty says tenzil let me recite a few of those the
[6:59]almighty says what's the difference tenzil meaning it's a deliberate dissension meaning
[7:27]in a slow processive process which has taken more than 23 years
[7:34]of descending the quran was revealed to the prophet and he used
[7:39]to reveal it to people to the companions over a period of
[7:46]23 years it used to come in chunks a few verses or
[7:50]a chapter and then stops and again after a while another you
[7:56]know set of verses will come to the prophet to this this
[8:01]deliberate dissension of the ayat which comes during specific times or for
[8:09]certain occasions is called tenzil while inzal it's all coming down landing
[8:18]all at once so in the holy month of ramadan the entire
[8:23]quran was descending as a whole landing all together now where it
[8:30]was landing the scholars have different opinions everyone say something some scholars
[8:37]say that came down from low helmholtz to the first heaven some
[8:43]said it was revealed to the prophet but the prophet was not
[8:49]allowed to reveal it to people only to his heart that is
[8:52]the meaning of revelation during the month of ramadan the whole quran
[8:58]those six thousand six hundred some verses all came down during the
[9:05]month of ramadan where somewhere either to the prophet or to the
[9:10]first heaven or to somewhere it came down and that is called
[9:18]enzal tenzil however started with the 5 first verses which took a
[9:26]place you know during the time that the prophet reached prophethood on
[9:31]27th of rajab with the with those five verses that i recited
[9:35]at the beginning why is it so why we have two different
[9:44]dissension couldn't be at once you know we consider quran to be
[9:50]our constitution it is the constitution of muslims look at every nation's
[9:57]constitution christian constitutions come at once the united con the united states
[10:01]constitution was all written behind closed doors and all of a sudden
[10:07]brought to public in 1787 and took two years to be ratified
[10:14]by different states until 1789 when it became ratified but at once
[10:22]the constitution was presented to the legislature every nation they write their
[10:26]constitution first and then they bring it to the public this is
[10:32]the meaning of a constitution if quran is a constitution then it
[10:36]should come all at once and this is the same thing with
[10:41]other books other holy books that the almighty has given to his
[10:47]holy prophets came all at once for example take taurah the old
[10:51]testament here the ayah talks about the time that musa left his
[10:59]town to meet his lord when he went the almighty gave him
[11:05]the tablets says then at the end says at that time when
[11:21]he met his lord the almighty gave him the tablets you know
[11:25]it's called in arabic as far and it's a you know have
[11:29]a very funny pronunciation that i don't want to say it because
[11:31]i know i'm going to make a mistake and you're going to
[11:36]laugh but you laugh anyways so those tablets again were introduced to
[11:45]prophet musa at once at the time of his birth when bani
[11:53]israel asked his mom who's he and this little infant who started
[12:02]to recite you know to talk to them he the says given
[12:12]give him the new testament at once whether at that time or
[12:17]later on something else but at once the old testament was revealed
[12:21]to lisa except the holy quran the holy quran came in multiple
[12:30]stages at one stage in zal but the time that it was
[12:35]revealed to people to muslims came in stages why is it so
[12:40]the constitution should be introduced at once why god has given the
[12:47]prophets this quran and telling him to reveal it to people over
[12:50]a period of 23 years the reason brothers and sisters it has
[12:55]to do with the philosophy of islam you see when you look
[13:02]at the task of the prophet and you compare it with the
[13:06]task of other prophets you see there is something you know in
[13:10]a very sharp contrast with the rest other prophets like ibrahim alaihi
[13:17]salam musa isa they were not burdened to make a community to
[13:23]build a nation estate as we call it today they were prophets
[13:29]guiding their own people aesa used to travel from town to town
[13:36]he would not even stay in one place he didn't have a
[13:42]shelter so he used to move travel from this town to that
[13:47]town same thing with musa musa alayhis salaam was designated to beni
[13:52]israel to guide them and save them from the tyranny of fraunh
[13:57]and ibrahim alaihissalam migrated from different cities so they have not been
[14:07]tasked with building a nation building a community in order to build
[14:13]the community you need the trainer you don't need the constitution constitution
[14:18]you tell people what to do and what not to do but
[14:22]in order to build the community and nation you need to teach
[14:28]this nation this novice nation that started to grow you need to
[14:31]train them you need to coach them you need to teach them
[14:36]therefore quran should walk with them you see we say islam is
[14:42]a civilization and a religion that's why when you look at the
[14:45]literature go back to history books here high school history book college
[14:52]history book they talk about the islamic civilization but have you heard
[14:56]of a jewish civilization christian civilization there is no christian civilization this
[15:03]is the difference between islam who the intention from the beginning was
[15:08]to erect a civilization to have a nation state therefore laws would
[15:17]come accordingly people needed some time to understand quran to learn quran
[15:23]to be familiar with it to adopt it implemented then they move
[15:29]on to the next you know set of verses here it says
[15:34]that any time that quran was revealed to the prophet the prophet
[15:39]would divide those verses into 10 10 verses and will give it
[15:44]to his people to the companion ask them to memorize it to
[15:49]understand it to implement it once they implement it he will give
[15:54]them the second dose of verses but look at those people who
[16:03]taurat has been given to them in suratul jumaah we recite every
[16:07]jummah when you attend salat [Music] what does it mean those people
[16:22]that god has granted them endowed them with taurat they were like
[16:31]a donkey who's carrying loads of books valuable books does a donkey
[16:38]or cattle benefit from the books on their shoulder does not benefit
[16:42]the same thing with those people while torah allah subhanahu wa said
[16:48]that in torad there is light so much guidance in it so
[17:04]much light in it still those people you know could not benefit
[17:11]from this light it was they were burdened with it without really
[17:18]understanding the torah but quran not only it is meant to be
[17:27]implemented in fact you can do everything with quran you see there
[17:31]are very significant verses if you pay attention to them sometimes you
[17:36]are so surprised this is the stature of quran this is the
[17:44]level of quran in one ayah allah says you can move mountains
[17:51]you see i may exaggerate you guys may exaggerate but allah subhanahu
[17:57]wa ta'ala does not exaggerate when he says something in the holy
[18:02]quran he means it and it's very precise and concise the almighty
[18:06]says you can cut pieces cuts landscapes earth into pieces with this
[18:20]you can start a dialogue you talk with the disease with the
[18:25]dead this is how powerful quran is but why don't don't we
[18:29]see such kind of effect because we have not risen to the
[18:36]level to the occasion to understand quran fully otherwise or unescapable as
[18:41]if you give someone who doesn't know how to use an arm
[18:45]you give him for example an automatic arm does he know how
[18:49]to use it he doesn't know how to use it the problem
[18:52]with us not with the holy quran there is an interesting story
[18:57]one of the warriors during the time of the second khalifa i
[19:04]think his name is something even ahmadi karp i forgot his first
[19:10]name his last name is ibn madi kar he used to have
[19:13]a sword very famous called as samsam samsama everybody in town used
[19:20]to talk about the sword they say this sword can do miracles
[19:25]the minute this warrior goes into the battle he finish up the
[19:30]enemy why because he used to have a powerful sword extremely powerful
[19:37]so one day they brought this warrior in front of the khalifa
[19:43]the second khalifa the khalifa told him what about this sword that
[19:49]you have everybody is talking about the sword can you give it
[19:54]to me this gentleman gave the sword to the khalifa the khalifa
[19:59]took it start waving this way that way hit a stone nothing
[20:04]happened another time as usual there is no difference between this sword
[20:10]and any other sword the khalifa was surprised said what is this
[20:17]to me this sword is similar to any other sword this warrior
[20:23]answered him told him i gave you the sword but i didn't
[20:31]give you the arm you need to have this arm in order
[20:35]to see the miracle in this sword so the same thing the
[20:40]quran which is full of guidance and miracles have been introduced to
[20:47]us but as us we should rise to the occasion that we
[20:49]talk to those people who are in the grave salman al-pharisi used
[20:55]to talk to those people who were dead utilizing quran therefore quran
[21:02]one reason that it came throughout those three years 23 years is
[21:08]to prepare us to understand it and comprehend it very well muhammad
[21:29]the second reason quran was revealed over a period of 23 years
[21:35]the prophet peace be upon him was always in constant battle with
[21:43]mushrikeen whether they were mushriken of mecca or the nomads surrounding medina
[21:48]or in the desert they were always harassing the prophet the prophet
[21:56]during his life 10 years in medina he had to have 81
[22:06]battles and the majority of those were defensive battles they were the
[22:10]ones who attacked the community the islamic community so when you have
[22:16]such kind of fierce enemy who have surrounded you from everywhere who
[22:22]has the money has the power has the army and has the
[22:28]connection with other empires you need something that can make you feel
[22:36]comfortable with that you take refuge to quran in another sense was
[22:41]a refuge to the prophet will give him solace will give him
[22:46]relief here the ayah says so you can have a strong heart
[23:07]when you fight those mushrooms because it comes in one chunk in
[23:13]one statement then moshikin will tell that god has forsaken the prophet
[23:21]god no more you know is with the prophet for a period
[23:26]of three months angel the angel of war who would bring revelation
[23:31]to the prophet didn't come to the prophet so mushrikeen has started
[23:36]to have this rumor saying that allah has deserted his lord has
[23:41]deserted him he is no longer having his lord then the ayah
[23:47]came and the prophet was panicking until this cut this ayah came
[23:51]well don't think that god has left you by yourself always allah
[24:03]is with you supporting you so one reason that quran came through
[24:12]these multiple years is to give solace and believe to the prophets
[24:17]you know encourages him and give him support in the front of
[24:25]those mushrikeen the other reason you know i'm going to talk about
[24:28]two more reasons inshallah [Music] many of those ayat used to be
[24:40]revealed for a single incident you know there is a cause of
[24:48]descending we call it meaning that there is an event an aftermath
[24:52]that aftermath there is a revelation because that event is so important
[25:01]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wanted to signify it to people therefore will
[25:05]descend an ayah verse for them so it can stick in the
[25:13]memories for example we recite in the holy quran your guardians are
[25:30]god the prophet and the menen who are those many you have
[25:36]a plenty of menin but the ayah is very specific this ayah
[25:41]was revealed to the prophet after this incident one day a beggar
[25:48]went into masjid of rasulullah and asked for assistance begging no one
[25:58]could help him except one one who was praying in the middle
[26:03]of his prayers as he make him roku he made the gesture
[26:10]to this beggar what did he have he had his ring in
[26:16]his hand so he showed him his ring and that beggar came
[26:20]and took the ring away the ayah came to signify that this
[26:25]guardian that i am talking about is this man enama tuna tomorrow
[26:42]the prophet will pass away he will depart but remember your guardian
[26:48]is that particular man who was that man now if this ayah
[26:58]was revealed at the advent of islam who would pay attention people
[27:02]would not know who's this man or why this ayah was revealed
[27:07]another set of ayah in the surat allah subhana wa ta'ala starts
[27:14]with this great deliverance a great victory allah promises the prophet with
[27:26]a great victory when did this ayah was revealed to the private
[27:32]it was revealed in sphere made the truth between him and mushrikeen
[27:41]of mecca a truth a piece of treaty a pc treaty would
[27:49]be considered to be a great victory usually a great liberation means
[27:55]that when you take when you conquer a big swadd of land
[27:58]entire army collapses in front of you and you conquer a big
[28:04]chunk of land and that's considered to be in the average mind
[28:07]this is what it meant a liberation meaning a physical victory but
[28:14]why allah mentioned this truth to be a victory because at that
[28:23]time the ayah says wait a minute yes that was a truce
[28:27]between prophet and the mushrikeen but look what has happened look at
[28:32]the consequences islam reached everywhere because of that it rules because at
[28:38]that time the prophet was free to send his message for example
[28:44]to the rome to the romans to the persians to the egyptians
[28:47]and at that time the egyptians and romans and the persians started
[28:50]to hear about islam before that nobody knew what islam was and
[28:58]nobody knew what muhammad abdullah so this ayah came in particular for
[29:14]that event one more reason islam was revealed in mecca mecca is
[29:21]the heartland of jahaliyah you know jahili ignorance was in arabian peninsula
[29:30]and the mushrikeen of quraysh were the symbols of ja'ali well jahlia
[29:38]is not only meaning that you don't know things rather you don't
[29:43]know them and you insist upon your own position even if you're
[29:47]told the truth you still reject them this is called jahili there
[29:52]were so many habits bad things that if islam would tell or
[30:00]quran would tell people to stop don't do those people would not
[30:04]listen would not follow until gradually slowly he will teach them guide
[30:12]them toward the truth then they would accept it as an example
[30:18]the intoxicant inshallah one day we will be talking maybe in two
[30:23]three days we will be talking about the problem of addiction and
[30:26]we will be talking about the intoxicants wine was forbidden but it
[30:35]was not forbidden right at once it was a gradual step one
[30:40]then a step two then a step three and so forth why
[30:44]because people were so attached to intoxicant to wine that they could
[30:51]not detach themselves from it so if the ayah would come at
[30:56]the beginning and tell them stop everyone would violate it but what
[31:01]allah wanted is that people learn and feel comfortable with it you
[31:06]see the beauty of islam is not it's a it's a set
[31:11]of rules that you have you have to adopt them and follow
[31:13]them no you have to accept them by your heart and by
[31:18]your brain then you are considered to be a muslim this is
[31:23]in total difference than other citizens you see citizens in any country
[31:27]they have to abide by the rules whether i love the rule
[31:33]or i hate the rule i have to abide by it i
[31:36]i oblige myself to follow the rules but islamic rulings are different
[31:43]you need to accept them accept them by your heart and accept
[31:47]them by your mind therefore you need to have some gradual time
[31:51]in order to swallow it understand it comprehend it then you know
[31:57]be at peace with it one of them was the intoxicant inshallah
[32:01]in a few nights we will be talking about that another problem
[32:07]a social problem many in the arabian peninsulas used to have slaves
[32:14]servants either they're from you know different parts of the world whether
[32:20]they're from europe or from africa or persia you know through wars
[32:24]from battles they will take them and make them their slaves by
[32:30]time let's say that this is a slave have children and this
[32:34]children become adults and grow up that family who used to hold
[32:41]the slave will consider his children as their children it's like an
[32:47]adopted son adopted son by time becomes the real son of the
[32:52]man of the you know breadwinner of that household and this is
[32:58]this poses a bigger problem why because adopted son has a biological
[33:03]father he has to go by the name of the biological father
[33:09]he cannot but yes he's adopted by this by this father but
[33:16]he cannot take the last name to say or the identity or
[33:18]of this adoptive father rather he has to go you know and
[33:25]follow thee the biological father this is the norm but in the
[33:30]arabian peninsula after a while the slave will take the name for
[33:38]example or the adopted son take the name of the of his
[33:40]master and people by time think that this person is a true
[33:46]son of this of his master while he's not islam wanted to
[33:50]keep the lineage didn't want people to lose their identities even if
[33:56]they are adopted how he would show this well we know when
[34:03]someone marries his wife becomes forbidden forbidden to his father even if
[34:12]they get divorced let's say someone gets married and after a while
[34:15]he get divorced his wife cannot marry his daughter this is i'm
[34:19]sorry his father so his wife cannot marry his father and this
[34:25]is in all the creeds and all religions including islam but during
[34:34]jahiliyyah the father could marry his wife the wife of the son
[34:38]when they are divorced so islam came and put an end to
[34:44]that to tell them that you are those sons are not your
[34:51]sons therefore you can marry you see if the son is has
[34:57]a biological father and marries a wife and after a while they
[35:03]divorce the wife cannot marry his father because he is her true
[35:09]grand true father-in-law right i am sorry you know i forgive me
[35:14]for my broken english but if the son is adopted son then
[35:27]it's okay let's say someone adopts a son and the son get
[35:32]married with with someone with a wife after a while they divorce
[35:40]this wife can marry the attack the adoptive father islam came to
[35:45]do this to show this to the public through a marriage when
[35:50]the prophet peace be upon him used to have an adopted son
[35:56]called zaid zaid was married to a lady called zainab bin josh
[36:02]zade got divorced from zainab allah subhanahu wa ta'ala ordered the prophet
[36:09]to marry zainab why so he show it to public that the
[36:15]son is not the son of the prophet rather he is an
[36:20]adopted son otherwise if this would kept silent people would think that
[36:26]zade the son of the prophet while he was not he was
[36:31]an adopted son of the prophet therefore quran was revealed over a
[36:37]long period of time to change some of those abnormal norms and
[36:43]that's what has happened throughout the years my topic was long i
[36:49]divided it into two halves one half is tonight and the next
[36:53]half inshallah tomorrow where the title is how should we recite the
[36:58]quran foreign [Music] you
